was in the supermarket and I was walking past one of those little booths where somebody merchandises a product I was like oh do you want to try this and I looked around and it was razors and I was like no bro I don't he fair enough I like that we all have beards yeah it's good I don't know why am me cuz when I don't have a beard it's like son is your dad home and when I do have a beard it's like sir what can I do to help you yeah every time I shave it off I'm like why did you do that and then and I forget and I forget I go oh I'm might to what I look like without a beard again oh that's right not as good yeah yeah that's exactly what happens to me I'm like maybe I'll be happier without it no

no I'm not no and as soon as I shave it off I remember that this always happens or I shave it off just when a new series of Vikings starts and then I just feel like much less of a man I thought about shaving mine off a few weeks ago Luke I don't I I mean I I vaguely remember what you look like without a beard but it's been a very long time well I've always tend to have some sort of facial hair yes and always do silly things with it that's true may you had mutton chops and a mustache for a while that was a great era I apologize cuz I think I was the one who made him shave that for a movie yeah you did oh yeah it was really good at time the chops where I wanted it mustache I had the Mohawk yeah get rid of it all you know I he probably could have kept that and

just shaved the head it would it would have been it would have been fine would have been disturbing which was the goal the uh the lead character in that film wouldn't shave his [ __ ] head day so you know I shaved mine for that film you did everyone shaved their head for that film except for the lead actor yeah who will remain anonymous I also remember we filmed this throwaway scene that was never going to be part of the mov movie I don't know what you're talking about Luke I still don't know why I agreed to even film the scene even if it was just for us it's still weird probably weirder you will learn the hard way that when I say this is just for us it'll probably end up

in yeah I remember Dave did a sexy dance once and I filmed it and that went into every film every trailer forever after that I've seen it yep instagram.com multip nerdgasm yeah oh we should why not so well Speaking of beards which we were uh somebody who's got a beard is Santa Claus and that that brings us back to the fact that it's the Christmas episode so merry Christmas everybody um you guys got any special plans for Christmas I'm working that's special yep yeah you're working on uh good old X day uh yes I'm working on Christmas day to work on my gamer score on the Xbox ah right okay okay that's work is it yeah it's that's hard work sure right but you can do that

from home I assume yes and I can also do it when I'm out and about as well oh yeah right with your windows [ __ ] phone yes okay all right but you're you're actually you're straight up working Christmas day are you Dan no for God no nothing nothing will be open here what about you m I'm taking some time off yeah I feel like it was trying to fish for that don't you luk yeah no no no no I wasn't um we've talked in the past about the kinds of things people do at Christmas um and uh here in Australia and I I guess in in probably in Singapore as well Dan uh it's a fairly christian-based uh Christmas well they do put the Christ in Christmas right and so we don't we don't have any particular well I mean we do have weird Traditions but they're the

same weird Traditions that most of our listeners probably have and so we don't find them that unusual but we we've in the past talked about some Christmas traditions from around the world that we found amusing or a bit unusual yeah that's true and um we've we've talked about uh Krampus before I believe he's quite famous now he is cu he's in a scary movie because once again Hollywood listened to the podcast and uh developed a film from uh from what we said there's a couple of others that uh we've talked about in the past there's um kago kako however you pronounce it yeah I'm watching that video right now so just uh just to recap kago is a pooping Christmas log yeah exactly yeah that you hit with a stick that's right it's he's

from Catalonia which is um which is Spain I believe mhm and and um he uh he a little log he starts out quite small and and they pop some legs on him some little wooden legs and and he kind of sits up and they draw a face on him uh he pops up on the 8th of December and as it approaches Christmas uh the kids feed him um every night and then the parents are supposed to he grows right so the you know behind the scenes the parents kind of swap him out oh okay with with ever growing size logs um and then that continues up until Christmas uh when the they beat him repeatedly with sticks until he shits out presents actually I'm I'm quite liking this yeah and he's called kaga which means um poop kaga is is pronounced Kaka

and it means poop sorry so it's Kaka Tio uh and Tio means tree trunk or Uncle so he basically pretty much [ __ ] Uncle yeah shitty his shitty uncle or pooping tree uh one of those two right uh and he has a little song little song uh that the children sing while they hit him with a stick uh I'm not going to sing it in in Catalan because I don't know how but I will sing it in I I'll I can sing it in English if you want you want me to sing it yeah yeah yes please definitely otherwise we won't know well I could just I could just read it or I can sing it but I'll trying sing it sing it yeah you need to sing it [ __ ] Log [ __ ] noua hazelnuts and M cheese if you don't [ __ ] well I'll hit you with a stick [ __ ] log

[Laughter] that's uh Shakespeare isn't it I think so yeah and that's uh that's the his little uh theme song If you don't [ __ ] well I'll hit you with a stick yeah so that's how my parents ptty trained me yeah in there so yeah they all be with a stick and then the parents go all right go into the next room and pray and maybe he'll [ __ ] out some presents now that you've beaten the the [ __ ] out of him and so the kids go in the other room and uh the parents take the opportunity to uh pop a bunch of presents uh out of out of his butt so what happens if he does [ __ ] well if you've got say a lean year and you don't want to buy your kids any presents you can go no he's perfectly regular kids I'm sorry there'll be no hitting him with a stick this year he's

just [ __ ] out more more wood in fact I think he's I think he's giving birth to a Shrubbery it's it's a it's a woman what what well giving birth oh you the logs are okay right so the fully the fully grown log is about 30 cm long uh and he's got a little red sock hat to enhance his appearance yeah I'm I'm about 30 30 cm long fully grown with a little sock hat apparently these are recent additions in the olden days uh he was just a piece of wood oh how did we live Matt how did we live in those times I know yeah so that's one tradition and another one that is uh is one of my favorites um is the U Lads from Iceland um we've talked about them before and I'm going to request actually

if you've clicked open the article um can we just play a quick little game where I I'll tell you the name there's 12 U lads who visit the people of Iceland this is the one that steals one steals sausages and one y I'm going to read out I'm going to read out their names right I'll go through all of them and you tell me what you think they do so so basically these these your lads just from memory yeah or just based on the name the names are quite descriptive so you can just kind of run with it and see what see what you can come up with so these guys are kind of uh Ule Lads they're called I think they're kind of old men who who come to town during the last 13 days before Christmas like one night after the other they all sharp one after the other unlucky and they all do

a certain thing so the first one he arrives on December 12th and his name is sheep coat Claude she's coat CLA sheep coat Cloud yeah there must be something about stealing wool knowing these guys mhm all right we'll keep it quick uh he harasses sheep but he is impaired by his stiff peg legs oh right of course makes sense yeah yeah the devil's in the details there isn't it that's right so on December 13th they visited by Gully gwk what do you think I'll just quickly point out that it is December 13th right now yep right well so tonight we'll be visited by Gully gork that's right uh he watches you from a from a ditch very close very close he hides in gullies waiting for an opportunity to

sneak into your Cow Shed and steal your milk a of course it's so specific I know that's why I love these so much all right December 14th stubby shows up he brings me a beer oh stubbo in really little [Laughter] shorts uh I think I think stubby would be your favorite Dan if that's that's a bit of a clue yeah well I mean stubby a dwarf he is abnormally short that is the description that is great he's he's abnormally short and he steals pans to eat the crusts that have been left on them wow who's leaving their crusts on a pan honestly I don't know um December 15th this one's fairly fairly obvious uh spoon

liquor that was your nickname in high school wasn't it Matt no ah yeah spoon spoon yeah sure we'll go with that yep um December 16th we've got pot scraper yep just comes in and does your washing up does he Bo he comes in and steals the leftovers out of your pots okay and then December 17th we've got Bowl liquor I I assume it's bowl and not bow they just having trouble with names at this point toilet bowl would be worse than any other Bowl I'd say yeah and one one guy could have done all this stuff could have covered all these C cuz cuz you've got you got um bloody uh what's his name Stubby's coming in and he's like oh D that pot's got got quite a lot of uh quite a lot of you

know uh chili left in it but uh I'm only here for the crusts on the pans so you know yeah I mean it's not my job mate um December 18th we've got door Slammer um he uh he he comes and slams The Doors yeah what a [ __ ] in the middle of the night yeah I'm just here to uh slam the doors don't mind me and then I'll be off don't mind me earning me cash is that code for something though maybe it is luk okay he's slamming doors if you know what I mean slamming doors yeah December 19th we've got SK uh Sky gobler I assume is it pronounced Sky it is a um an Icelandic dairy product which is uh like strained yogurt apparently right I guess he just Gobles it yeah he just loves it I don't know he doesn't I

mean I don't know if he does anything particular I except turn up and talk about it maybe yeah right just just comes and just presents a paper on his love of yo Conny Sky no I want to talk about Sky I tell you what though it's a great it's a great food product here let me share some facts with you it's h it's a bit like strained yogurt that's the only fact I've got Fact one strange yogurt Fact Two it's delicious yeah this one's a bit creepy we've got uh December 20 we've got sausage swiper yeah um that's a sex thing yeah well it's just he steals sausages that are being smoked but it's just the description and also it says he hides in the rafters so it's it's just creepy that he's there the he's there all the

time in the rafters waiting to to waiting to smoke some sausage it's there the whole time and then just one day a year he comes down and gets the sausages that's right yeah yeah it's weird at least the other rest to go home every other day mhm yeah December 2 21st window peeper yep that's not I guess that's self-explanatory mhm the one day year you're allowed to go poep through people's windows and you can't get in trouble for it well he he's I think he would because he's his goal is literally to find things to steal it's it is very specific it says a Voyer who would look through windows in search of things to steal so um December 22nd doorway

sniffer what now if that's not a sex thing then I'll eat my hat you know he uh he has an abnormally large nose and an acute sense of smell which uses to he uses to locate luab which uh is leaf bread um sometimes called snowflake bread which is a traditional Icelandic bread that is often eaten at Christmas so uh he he's he's into that uh on the December 23rd uh probably the most terrifyingly named um your lad meat hook rocks up Jesus yeah yep uh and that's the vain from I Know What You Did Last Summer that's right and uh it'll be probably be a bit of a surprise to learn that he uses his hook to steal meat right that's actually the the better of several scenarios it could have been

true true and December 24th candle stealer um now I mean that sounds quite obvious but it does have a a more Sinister um angle on it because He follows children in order to steal their candles right so that's also euphemism is what why kids walking around with candles and not only that um it makes a point of mentioning that back in the back in olden times uh the candles would have been made of Tallow and were edible and he steals the children follows the children to steal their candles to eat the candles M which is just just very creepy really yeah that is I I hope he eats them in front of the kids and makes eye contact while he does it so strange just for the ultimate creep Factor

yeah so they're the yads that's one of my favorite uh Christmas tradition I know we've talked about on the podcast before years ago Matt we needed a refresher no exactly exactly but yeah I mean we we've forgotten about them I mean the the that our recordings were back then I'm pretty sure that even the people that did hear it didn't really get all that information yeah yeah it was unintelligible so that's your Lads and one other Christmas tradition that we do mention every year and so uh almost certainly we've talked about it in more recent times uh is a little tradition from Holland and and this has got to be our personal favorite surely surely if we're if we're playing favorites this is it yeah yeah I I uh I think it is definitely the one talking the most and

and this one has become quite famous of late um and um I mean we don't talk about too much cuz we do talk about we we're going to cut now to uh we did an interview um we've had our first guest on the show yeah we did we did we interviewed a gentleman from Holland JP and uh and he he filled Us in on zat Pete Black Pete zat Pete the uh zat Pete the the s's black slave yeah yeah yeah that's although as we discovered there's more to it maybe not just being a black slave so yeah we we'll say no more now we'll cut straight to the interview and uh listeners you maybe you'll learn something CU cuz we we maybe did so Matt why don't you introduce this man to go by JP we just introduce JP do you want a

you're the Dutch yeah can you explain that to me we like variation yeah okay that's cool it's actually very simple so you know how like Australia has States uhhuh we have provinces what we call them provinces M and two of our provinces which are probably the most densely area uh populated provinces they're called North and South Holland so probably when people go abroad they and they they have like this I don't know patriotism or national nationalism kind of thing they like uh I'm from Netherlands but I'm from like North or South Holland but you know when you go abroad and you don't speak the language and they're crappy English it's like can I say crappy yeah yeah okay you can say whatever you can say a lot words oh yeah but uh yeah okay no so basically cuz

they hail from The Province that's north of South Holland it like transferred into just Holland and it's like the tourist name because I mean say the Netherlands or Holland yeah right and yeah what you're saying is there's no actual place called Holland no it's north and south I mean probably there's like a small town somewhere called Holland but it's Holland days yeah is that from Holland Holland days from Holland the sauce you mean yeah yeah I think so h I mean why would genius genius there's a Holland Village here in Singapore is there yeah interesting I think at some point there must have been Dutch people there now it's just hipsters hipster Dutch the main reason that we've asked you on is because we do W second part of that question why are

right cool in all right listen just Mark that down in your di all right yep all right so every year around Christmas or at Christmas or roughly around Christmas cuz we're awful at scheduling things we talk about Christmas traditions around the world uh and one tradition that we've talked about every year since we started uh is a tradition from your country um which people over here find I mean we' think it's kind of funny um and a lot ofar yeah and a lot of people these days are very offended by it and uh and I mean you know what I mean obviously uh that's uh that's cant Claus am I saying that correctly and uh zat pet the Z pit zat pit I follow should we explain it what it looks like to us and then you can correct us is that

maybe like I guess most most people when they see it right it looks like Santa Claus and and a black slave that's what most people immediately think that's what that's what I'm that's what they're looking at and when it's depicted in popular culture it's basically Santa Claus and a white dude in black face yes in servants clothes clothing that's what people think it is which we think is fantastic we think it's very funny yeah but obviously we could understandably some we're not offended by anything confus way no no cuz we're white but that's right yeah so what is the story with with with black Pete with Pete well so like you said like actually the trouble started like about 3 years ago I think but because before I was never was ever a problem but yeah about

no it wasn't and about 3 years ago probably because also because social media just got bigger and bigger or more widespread so he saw more stuff on it on the internet and at they knew what you were up to yeah and then suddenly I I remember like so 3 years ago it started and then I don't know it was a year later but then the the NATO got involved Jesus really and and the the what do you call it the person in charge was a black woman yeah right that I hope but yeah so the tradition itself is actually it hails from uh turkey I believe just like tulips and windmills right which is improved a bit you improved tulips well we mass-produced them and sold them a lot yeah

cool but um yeah so it's it's like it actually was a saint he actually existed and he was just very generous I suppose right and in our culture we actually sing that she from Spain by the way a slight change in origin I suppose but um yeah so it's it's it's a holidays that runs for 5 days like it starts the first of December and then up until the fourth you have like um kids put their shoe at the chimney just similar to actually to Christmas to Santa Claus right like a shoe like an actual shoe yeah yeah you put your shoe you put like carrots or candy for the horse or something to eat for the the saint mhm and then you start singing uh the the songs we have for it and the louder the better the more the better right and then every morning you come down and you have like a small

present and then the fifth is actually the celebration right and it's just it's called paky aent it's um packages night right and it's like St n or St Nicholas comes by and he drops off a huge bag of just gifts and then it's just unwrapping one by one man and the thing with the the white guy in the black guy and a thing uh so he's actually white and like his beard is white cuz he's old and the black guys are like you said they're white guys made up black yeah the thing is they don't want to be black the only reason they're black is cuz they Wick their asses off and they climb down the chimney it is just charcoal it's charcoal charcoal charcoal the thing is over the years probably because of commercialization and stuff like that they just thought of okay let's just put

like the black everywhere like make the whole face black wear black gloves wear like uh big socks that are black because probably if you go back into history and look at pictures I I believe they Wen not totally black like they are nowadays right so it's just something that evolve like okay let's just go full black but it's never been about wanting to be black but once you go black you never go back well they do after a shower normally but it's never been about wanting to be black it's just a a representation of like they go down the chimney and you just get dirt on your face and stuff like that yeah and I it's clear from from looking at listening to other people talk about it you know online or whatever like that it's not there's no um no intent to offend

anybody or anything like that and it seems and it people genuinely seem to get upset when people suggest that it's racist and and and that it's a negative thing cuz people love this like it's it's like this day that people love like it's for just the children and everyone wants the children to have a good time yeah normally normally funny Luke doesn't it's I don't have a problem but it's actually funny you say this only happened um 3 years ago cuz only became a problem in Australia in 2009 it's only recent in Australia as well what we're not allow to wear black face yeah what do you remember when it happened in Australia was it on hey hey at Saturday when it was on hey hey Satur oh I do I remember that I remember guys dressed up as Michael Jackson They with a Jackson

Drive and they're wearing black face and Harry CL Jr yeah but that's different isn't it that you actually want to be black yeah yeah that's that's true they were they were they were pretending to be to be to be black yeah yeah yeah but I mean that's I mean at a glance that's what people think is happening so yeah and then also I mean the world today is very uh how should we say stupidly PC yeah the the the police are out making sure no one's going to be offended by anything and it's you know so uh I mean would you recommend our listeners all dress up as Z Pete this Christmas and or actually is I mean it's already passed right it's oh you're right you're right see that's the thing beginning yeah see there their

celebrations at the so you don't do anything around the 25th like we do we do do Christmas yeah oh so it's a different thing yeah it is yeah right we have a lot of holiday back home that's pretty awesome we even have like the celebration of the king Elvis Easter yeah he was big he was very big and then he died yeah do you actually get like you wouldn't work through most of December is that no no because even if it's holidays you just work it's it's I mean it's a celebration for the kids like they have the singing the songs during the first four days the fifth day if if it's during the week probably like the next day maybe parents have like a day off or a morning off from work but it's not like like you have something massive going on it's just the family

comes together yeah you spread out the presents and by midnight you you go back home yeah right okay okay so you would say so basically every year right cuz uh since you were a child that's just a thing that happened right and there was a guy there who who was a white guy with black makeup on for for for the for the event and so you know I can see why people might be a little bit like what why is everyone questioning this now you know what I mean like because how long is it how long has it been going on like just ages like literally ages I think I I because I'm not too sure but I think like that whole um transition from Turkey to Spain I think it's even when the Netherlands or what whatever it was called back then was occupied by the Spanish Empire or Kingdom yeah I think

back then it was also sort of celebrated I'm not too sure but it's been at least for the whole this Century yeah right this plan for sure the but but um I think I mean 1900s for sure yeah it's been going on for a long time so there you go an inside's perspective it's really shed some light on it cuz Luke you didn't you didn't understand what was racist about it either did you no I had no I still don't see what's racist about it I don't think it is at all I agree well now that we know that the dude's covered in soot cuz he's coming down every chimney I mean that makes important that makes it kind of different doesn't it I mean the color black self isn't racist it does except you've got to I think the problem that we have with stuff like that even is

that um if you're from a different culture you will make assumptions about certain things and like for example you know like if if someone from the US cuz the other thing is countries like the US had big problems with slavery in the South and everything like that and they have baggage from that that other countries don't have but they put that baggage on other countries sometimes you know what I mean we we tend to be Australians tend to be quite flippant with with racism we have reputation for being racist but I think it's more just that we don't have a lot of this baggage at least you know we don't have any of this baggage because we're not we just don't care you know what I mean do not give a [ __ ] no but when you mentioned about slaves like that's sort of the

origin of racism right yeah right but isn't it didn't didn't we talk about it once that actually there were more white slaves deported to Africa than there were black slaves to like States yeah well like there's a there's a also the reason that um it became such a problem in in the states is that they had uh slaves of All Sorts originally when they when they founded the state the United States uh like Scottish in particular had a lot of Scottish slaves and stuff like that uh and I assume from you know Asian colonies and stuff as well but uh in a country that was so sparsely populated if you had a slave who was white and uh he escaped you would never find him and so purely for practical reasons there became a huge demand for black slaves to because they can't

escape because all of the people were slaves whereas all of the white people were not slaves oh fair enough yeah so apparently that's that's the origin of all that you know in in the US and the other thing is you always think of it as white people kidnapping black people and selling them to white people whereas that is not the case the Americans bought the black slaves from other black Africans who were kid slaves that's true as well and and not only that like I said they they had slaves from everywhere they weren't they weren't picky about it it's just that it became sadly uh it became practical Sy for yeah yeah well it was like I said it was a practical that's a thing you can't call them on it that's right so I have a question for you guys yes so you guys

in their Christmas adverts what and uh anti- rape Advocates the world over have come out and collect ly said enough is enough some of these are pretty strange like I don't know who who thought these were a good idea there's been a flurry of recent high-profile cases where companies have been forced to apologize after using rape or appearing to allude to sexual assault in festive advertising not just in their General advertising but tied into their Christmas sales yeah right right here a Singapore based online retailer Supergirl acknowledged that it had made a mistake after advertising its Black Friday with the slogan rape us now yeah that's weird department store Bloomingdale's apologized for its holiday advert which featured a young man creepily eyeing a

laughing young woman beside the slogan spike your best friends eggnog when they're not looking that's unbelievable yeah yeah last Christmas there were rape themed Christmas t-shirts available for sale I saw and um the Virgin Mobile Christmas ad um was all about chloroforming your partner this Christmas so yeah date rape all round yeah I don't quite know how that's happened because you think Common Sense dictates probably probably not the best thing to how many people would have to approve these things the Black Friday one in particular rapers now it's like who thought that was a good wording to use like even having the girl on there yeah cuz the picture is of a girl who

you know a young girl who yeah it's is either lying down or is tied up and she's either really loving it or really hating it it's kind of impossible to tell so strange like who thought that was going to be all right especially here this is a Singaporean ad and and I've got to say like that [ __ ] does not fly here well see I'm only saying that too because I'm looking at this one but the other one that's described which I haven't seen would the Bloomingdales one is that's just as bad when you when you now that I look at it like spike your best friend's eggnog when they're not looking what yeah what yeah what the [ __ ] like that's the kind of thing that I might make a joke about in a client meeting and then I get talked to afterwards like Dan that was not appropriate

sure right and that does happen oh okay okay I've just looked at I've clicked on the thing to go to the ad and yeah that's that's just [ __ ] creepy like also how how is that an adverb oh my God so it's a chick Who's laughing and she's looking off into the distance and there's a rapist looking at her with his rapy eyes and the SL spike your best friend's eggnog when they're not looking is between like I is there some other meaning to this that we've missed uh I wouldn't imagine so like cuz I don't even understand how this functions as an advertisement do you know what I mean yeah like I can't see what are they selling apart from rap drugs hpn yeah [ __ ] bizarre no I can't see what they're

selling I can't work it out so unless unless it was someone's genius idea to to raise um like the Nazi train that we spoke about last week exactly someone thought this would be a great way so the rape themed Christmas t-shirts that we just mentioned I've just clicked through to those and it's just a t-shirt with the word rape written on it in candy cane writing that's not even subtle no no I think those I think somebody just was like just make some shirts yeah like it's on Cafe Press you know what you know be funny yeah yeah I wonder how many they sold imagine who the [ __ ] would wear that the Virgin Mobile yeah I know God um the Virgin mobile ad is a man putting his hand over his wife's face like doing a kind of surprise you can't see this kind

of but which looks perfectly innocent except that it says necklace or chloroform oh my God that's so strange man who thought this was a good idea I say actually I was going to say who would wear that raped t-shirt but um didn't the game Catherine come with a t-shirt that said rape yeah and Luke haven't haven't you been wearing that I I swear I've seen you and it's rape but with a love heart instead of a PE it's Rave but it's got a love heart it's a love heart instead of the V I swear to God this whole time since that game came out I thought the shirt said rape like why would I wear a shirt that says rape well I don't know Luke and that's it I'm I'm to be honest I'm a little confused as to how we haven't had this

conversation yet considering that is quite a serious difference wearing it in one of the multim gasm videos he was yeah because I thought when we watched the video of that guy sucking his own dick and Luke was wearing a t-shirt cuz I swear I thought maybe I just read somewhere it was someone else was confused about it I swear I that's thought that's what it was and cuz I I mean I thought it was a bit weird I'll be honest I'll say this Luke why does it say Rave yeah actually it's a good question too CU I played the game a little bit I don't know why it I played the game a bit of rape no raving yeah you got nothing to say for yourself I got nothing is it really Rave or did you just think it was Catherine I

encountered in the game weing a daring anyone to say anything like you know like a like a love love you too much kind of weird creepy thing about about rape and I don't know like I said I don't know why I thought Luke was wearing it other than it's just Luke being like I don't really care what anybody thinks of me and I've got this t-shirt so cuz I know you didn't seek out the shirt it came with the game so I just never really questioned it well all right then let's not talk about that anymore then um can we talk about a little bit about a little a certain little film this is the last time we're going to get to talk about this before we see it um it comes out on Wednesday I assume you know the film that I'm talking about idea mat sisters

SS think I watched that online I don't know F AB Paul one that comes out the same day good luck people why would you release your film on the same day as Star Wars come on that is strange that is strange I you know what I've never I don't think I've ever seen anything uh I know everyone says Tina is really great I don't think I've ever seen anything with they're in it like uh I've never seen you haven't 30 Rock which you need to watch that's brilliant okay well I only watched the one episode and I wasn't into it but anyway Star Wars Star Wars um you all hear this we've seen it yeah the on they probably have too but somebody who uh who who seen it already at the time of recording is George Lucas and he previously had said that what does he get to see it

early I don't know can't think of a single reason after he did his best to destroy it um he he apparently there was a quote from a few weeks ago where he said that he uh he they went in a direction that he wouldn't have gone and people thought he was being a bit bit negative a bit sour graps about it um and he's come out this this recent we this week recently and said um he said I think the fans are going to love it it's very much the kind of movie they've been looking for which is still a bit compliment isn't it yeah that's right so [Music] um I just don't understand George yeah I know I know because you read the bit further down as well he's talking about how he basically thinks people just never understood what Star

Wars was cuz he said the issue was ultimately they looked at the stories and they said we want to make something for the fans people don't actually realize it's actually a soap opera and it's all about family problems it's a terrible George Lucas act no no no it's not about family problems it's not about spaceships so they decided they didn't want to use those stories they decided they were going to do their own thing and so I decided fine this is the thing I like he's saying like other people looking at it and they've gone we want to make stories F fence that means he was think about thinking not thinking about the fans no I know 100% he was just well and I I I believe that I believe that he he probably was doing perfectly obvious yeah he was just doing whatever he

wanted and also But the irony is he's talking about it's not all about spaceships like he's implying that it's a it's a serious drama when I mean the prequels were just [ __ ] over the top with the the action and the and the goofy hij Jinks and the slapstick and the Wen acting yeah so yeah exactly exactly the the drama was not the well not there were many compelling things about the definitely wasn't the drama but if you ask a lot of people they have no idea what the phantom menace is about like trade embargo it's embargo the worst the only reason I know what it's about is because I've spent you know as a fan who who I I I had to dissect it somewhat to to come to terms with it you know what I mean like I'm one of those fans who now

I look back at them and I'm like what the [ __ ] but at the time I was like no no no it's it's fine it's it's all right you know they're good I'm still not entirely sure what the phantom menace is actually referring to yeah I assume it means like the growing popularity of the Sith yeah I assume the Sith were the Fantom Menace cuz they orchestrated the whole thing yeah but I mean that's a really clumsy way to phrase that do you know what I mean yeah like if I said you guys you guys reckon there's a bit of a phantom menace kind of happening you'd be like what do you mean and I'll be like like what I mean is do you think the Sith are getting too much power youd be like why didn't you just say that why did you get all weirdly poetic about

it yeah yeah well so so he's uh he says he thinks it's going to be all right and I one thing I noticed this week because I've been I've been out looking at the merch I bought some stuff actually check Instagram there's a picture of me and my pajamas or video rather of me and my pajamas recording this podcast I watched it uh did you like it did you hit the little star on it I haven't yet let me uh I want to have a little bit more time alone with it yeah me too yeah but one thing I've noticed is that in in none of the stuff nothing in anywhere there's no prequel stuff not a not a mention of it am I am I just not seeing it it's all original trilogy and and and the new film I'm really hoping that they're just

pretending it doesn't exist I mean that's what I'm doing that's what it seems like and also I read an interview another interview with JJ a no was with Lawrence casan right sorry because people had these weird theories about stuff from the prequels that was going to tie into into the new film and apparently Lawrence kdan was asked at some convention um if if Darth plagas plaus you know Palpatine's Master oh yeah yeah sure was going to was was going to make an appearance and he said sorry who yeah and they said oh it's from the prequels and he was like oh I'm not I'm not really familiar with those that's great and then and everyone was like good and then uh apparently also um

he said that the when JJ rooms and he discussed it JJ basically said think A New Hope an Empire and don't worry about any of the others yeah like that's the tone Like A New Hope an Empire that's the tone so perfect cuzz I watched we actually rewatched all of them over the last few weeks and we watched Return of the Jedi the other night and it does have some goofy [ __ ] in there that I think I I've been G it I've been giving it a pass on some stuff yeah as an adult not in the 80s that film does not hold up well no it's all the way through there some great great moments though yeah it's got some great stuff like some of my favorite Star Wars stuff like you know Luke Invader and yeah and um

uh Admiral labar obviously and um yeah but it's also got some dumb goofy [ __ ] and I watch the despecialized Edition too not the yeah it's it's still got goofy stuff yes I love a bit going to watch them all tomorrow and Tuesday night right all right well I figet to space them out um and and the other thing that I saw this week is that there are people already in line to to see it um and can you explain to me why because I mean I've got set seats I know exactly where I'm sitting no this this is actually for a charity event um to raise money for the stylight Children's Foundation I'm not sure how they're raising the money by just being outside uh waiting but uh I don't know I assume it's probably maybe to raise awareness um or something but yeah

people already lined up and and to be honest it made me feel a bit happy because you know that's kind of traditional um because back when the prequels were coming out we you know people did line up they lined up for months didn't they yeah so it made me when I saw the headline I was like oh well I'm glad that you know that all hasn't stopped so yeah yeah I'm glad of that but I'm also glad I'm not one of the people that has to do it no I don't I don't have to yeah I assume I've got a I've got a seat allocated to me which I will sit in yeah um and the other thing I've noticed recently is that they really are slapping Star Wars on everything oh my God so we were in a shopping Center yesterday and we were just pointing out all of the shops that

had licensed Star Wars and it's ridiculous like everything almost all shops had some kind of branded Star Wars merchandise Crocs I just saw a photo on Instagram of cornflakes yeah yeah I I uh uh I obviously I mentioned I saw um the ice cream and scoffed and then bought pajamas but yeah I just we were um uh we were at Spotlight the other day and they have curtains yeah uh Star Wars curtains which I I thought that's cool um I may need to get those yeah they're pretty cool um Star Wars uh foldout chairs they've got Star Wars um there was something in particular was odd I can't remember what it was cuz it was so strange that I've like but then again m

i mean odd everyday device did you guys have the starworth toothbrush cuz I [ __ ] did yeah I know you know this is not I they've always done this I know it's just Star Wars floaties I told you when I went to the first time I went to Luke's house in CRA his his little apartment that he had in in CRA um to visit him and I went to the bathroom and he had the little Django Fett bubble bath in there did I send you I sent you a photo of that I think then that's great in fact check Instagram cuz I think I've still got a photo of that if you want to see Luke's little Jango Fett bubble bath that I found in his bathroom I'd rather see Luke in the bath covered in his jeno fed bubbles that's what I'd really want to see can that happen Luke that might
