clear we're talking about the 1977 film Star Wars yes no but I love that even the prequels weren't enough to turn Luke off but Force awakens he was like no I don't know about this I remember arguing with Dave about the phantom menace because I was like no no no it's fine it's fine yeah yeah yeah we all lied to ourselves the first time Dave was just Dave knew yeah soon as he walked out of the f m they was like they [ __ ] killed it I'm done yeah well he wasn't done because um we both saw episode 2 separately but on the same night and then the next morning I got an email from him in my inbox saying all the reasons that episode 2 is [ __ ] than uh The Phantom Menace and just just bullet points well I was at

the premere of avenge of the Sith with him uh and actually he gave me a thumbs up at one point uh early on which then devolved into a thumbs down at the end well I mean that battle was pretty good yeah yeah yeah but not what what is been thinking about because a lot of people come to me when they want like to know something about Star Wars like I'm I'm their go-to and a lot of the time now I have to say I don't know anymore because what I've known and loved is doesn't exist they changed it they changed it on you they changed it all they pulled the Star Wars out from under you yeah and yeah so I just want to get that off my chest like I probably still like it I do like it but no I still struggle with it a little I know what you mean though

like this whole Mandalorian law business like m I don't know what's real anymore if you know what I mean no because the Clone Wars has their version of it whereas the television shows a lot like the books that were around yeah the way that they sort of portrayed it like they did just take anyone in and they lived by certain law and all this and then the cartoon came along and went n they're actually an alien race see I wonder if it's because you know like the the sequel trilogy at first people were like yeah yeah and then it soured pretty quickly people's opinion of the of the sequels and then so I wonder if Disney was like [ __ ] what did people like they liked all this old stuff let's just do that then like maybe that's what it is there's now the rumors coming out that

Boba Fett's going to come back and stuff and it's all like for the Mandalorian season 2 and all like no we we don't want that we we like the little Winks to the stuff but that's all you need need to bring back characters he's dead no he's not actually he is he's dead he's actually the later of the mandalorians I have no reason to suspect that that's true he he knows well he's not anymore cuz they he's not in the book The Books don't exist so I've I've seen all of the films and there's there's no suggestion that he survived the salac look I'm with you Matt except that uh you know I thought I had a handle on this until I went and saw solo and there at the end is uh [ __ ] Darth Mo Darth Mo making no sense yeah you're right you're right so but as we

have learned uh in the rise of Skywalker which I thought was a pretty good movie um MH nobody can die everyone is Immortal yes and particularly actually falling into something is a pretty sure way to make sure someone's not there see so it's already there boba fet alive Boba Fett fell yeah you're right did he fell into the salac so fell into the mouth of a [ __ ] he probably just became more powerful yeah we're going to see him bust out of the gut of that salac I really hope they don't bring him back though so do I I don't need we don't need him the same character as the Mandalorian he's the same character we don't need more of them we just need the one y there were there were more than one of them in the

mandalorean there were 10 of them in one episode mate I'd love it if they diding Boba Fett back but he doesn't wear the suit anymore and he's not a bounty hunter and he just sees him in a bar and he's like you and he's like yeah yeah but I don't I don't do that anymore I would be okay with that if it was Jeremy bulock I would be okay with it if it was Danny DeVito Yep this is what I look like the whole time for people who don't know Jeremy Bullock is the guy who played you B Fett originally yeah I'd be okay with it if it was Sheriff bulock from uh Deadwood it was Timothy olant [ __ ] actually he would do a good yeah now that now that I've said that yeah well he is in the the new

season of Fargo um oh I every season of better than the one before yeah I was a little bit concerned uh when I saw him on the poster but it seems to be he seems to just be acting in it as a character and not just being Chris Rock I don't know why I thought he wouldn't be tossed in my uh in my Fargo if you know what I'm saying mhm mhm yeah um speaking of Fargo though last season starred you and McGregor as two characters you and McGregor is also returning to uh you know the Star Wars Universe to play Obi-Wan in the show people are already commenting that his hair is getting long so might be in the way to uh growing that in for filming um yeah creepy people who are following him around have

noticed like Obi-Wan again yeah got a lock of his hair um people are saying though that uh jar is going to be in the Obi-Wan series and uh it makes sense but I really hope that's not true as do I but I can sort of say and also arm best is sort of in good with Disney at the moment is he's got like his um quiz show coming up or whatever it is and now maybe that so this is one that I'm like you know what go on I I want to see how you think this is a good idea yeah exactly what made you think that was a good idea yeah cuz it's like if you're going to do it you better be damn sure you're a [ __ ] genius yeah that's right you know I well all the rumors that I've seen are quite

specific it's a bearded Jar Binks I read that too Jaa will be back with a beard because I guess that's what you get in the desert for a while did any of the gungans have Beads no not that I mean but I'm really excited to see it yeah I'm not sure they had hair at all they am I no the ones I [ __ ] did that's right yeah waxed no having having a look at photos I can't see anyone with has a facial hair or hair at all I'm on Hardcore bink.com yeah not a I I did do a sub search for gungan but I am on shaved.ice [Laughter] oh just wait and see but just hurry up and give us more Mandalorian yeah yeah it is good isn't

it that and The Witcher we both we got to wait for both those and I'm like oh man MH see that's what I actually sort of liked the M being weekly yes it was sort of something to look forward to again slam the whole thing yeah mind you I did love slamming the whole Witcher two gs yeah but then yeah I just sort of yeah that whole waiting a week I'm not really against anymore I mean you can wait a week between watching episodes of something that's available there's nothing stopping you doing yeah but if it's there you got to watch it and if the internet's seen it then you're in trouble yeah you're [ __ ] so yeah I'm I'm just all for let's let's let's do more of this cuz it's it's better than what it used to be like when you free to

AAR television whereas you had to wait a week and then if you missed it you missed it yeah man now it's comes whatever you want it helps build a community kind of around the show like I feel like Game of Thrones was helped by the fact that it was weekly because you would get you know like and in particular it was aired at a a specific time every week because everyone would get on social media at the same time after it ended yeah that's right it also helped with Game of Thrones that the first couple of seasons were actually good yeah interesting okay I'm just going to float that out there that could have been a factor I mean once it once it started being about nothing at all and uh you know you know my favorite season was the

season where Daenerys just kind of wanders around and uh and takes over a city and says all right I want to be in mi Army and all the slaves are like yep and then and next she does that with a you mean every every season yeah yeah yeah yeah I know the season you're talking about the whole [ __ ] thing yeah yeah yeah yeah I only watched the first season and can I just say well Luke spoiler alert that plot goes nowhere those a plot I watched I know been so long I don't remember I did love it and I did watch it to the end and I I I enjoyed the last season even though it was a little unsatisfying but endings are hard they're hard but the internet told me that you should hate

it the ending is especially hard I think when you were drawing from uh something that was known to be you know liked the books and then you run out of books and then it's your job now to finish the story that someone else wrote that was good like that's come on that's pretty tough right why I much prefer the Old Testament to the New Testament you know what I mean yeah Bible toal just didn't have that yeah the original author was just better yeah more vengeful yeah unfortunately he he he died by the time they wrote the sequel yeah it's a shame his son wrote the sequel I think like Brian Herbert yeah the New Testament I love that I got the same name as my dad I'm just going to keep writing books uh you're not as good is that how that works yeah it's

worth a shot though is making money off it I yes yep what's like a Tolkien isn't a Tolkien keep still writing oh is that right I didn't know about that SK Mr Tolkien and what are your qualifications well my surname is Tolkien I don't have a job and I want money yeah I keep hearing every now and again that they complain that they're not getting money from the the IP oh a lot of families I feel like this comes up and I'm like yeah really actually this came up a couple of weeks ago when I noticed that um Mrs DeLorean is trying to get some of that sweep Back to the Future money that's [ __ ] stupid they're like my [ __ ] cars in it and they're like well the car your your husband invented she's like yeah and and and that we paid him a licensing fee to use yeah that one

in the old gum tree and of course he tapped in and went my song um and someone at home some lawyer went wait what so uh in like 2008 or something they had to [ __ ] pay royalties for something they had a hit for 20 years before and not not not to the people who created it to someone who just the right soer yeah yeah I it never occurred to me that that song was just not public domain yeah I think everybody assumed that too well it was like happy birthday and Warner Music was cashing in on happy birthday for a hundred years well they had to pay that back didn't they yeah yeah cuz somebody figured out they couldn't do it I don't think they actually paid it back I think they cuz that just sort of went quiet a little bit yeah maybe because they found out

film yeah was JoJo rabbit yeah see that I thought it was talking about Star Wars have you seen this yet Luke no I I I want to go but what's made it hard is um Hannah's already seen it so I've got okay has already seen it as well so oh that's a missed opportunity yeah well cuz we can't really go just stream it in a theater and get our reactions even though you do see and you don't actually converse with the person next to you still being next to someone actually there is the interaction if that makes sense we yeah you know it could be fun if we did watch it at the exact same time or not or that God that could just be really annoying in terms of te well I'm I'm sure it would just be no matter how much we try it would just be out of syn yeah yeah

cuz I've been up and down on where I wanting to see this the first time I saw the trailer I thought it looked good the second time I was a bit I've been told Matt and others that this is handled really nicely yeah it's really good this it it it reminded me of of yes um life is beautiful and a little bit uh what's about Nazis so and it's a a comedy I get a lighthearted Nazi romp sort of it is yeah uh but it is also very touching and and sad and and uh there is a there's a point to it um and it also reminded me a bit of a kind of Wes Anderson Moonrise Kingdom sort of because it's got yeah it's mostly about kids uh in in World War II I mean You' seen the trailers you know the basic

premise it's about a kid you know like a a Hitler Youth kid in in Nazi Germany who has a imaginary friend who is literally Adolf Hitler played by tyo yd yeah yeah and it's a comedy like it is yeah yeah like it is it's definitely a comedy it's and it's very funny uh but yeah and then I don't know if you know anything else about it I I saw one little bit that reminded me of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas if you've seen that movie I have there's I don't secret I think the plot synopsis let me look at I I I mean it's it's in the trailer I think we're we're all dancing around the same plot point right yeah he meets someone who's hiding in his house does yes that's the that's kind of that's in the trailer like that's yeah which is still which it's one this is literally

the description of IMD a young boy in Hitler's Army finds out his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home okay yes so that's not really a spoiler it's the plot so so tiger Whitey who plays Hitler yes am I right in thinking he's a bit Jewish in real life I mean I know he's mauy but like I I believe he's also a little bit Jewish right well yes so I've heard him say but also he says a lot and he's kind of a interesting person so I don't I don't know but yes I've heard that too okay well actually just speaking of taer and I don't want to move off the JoJo rabbit theme but just stuff that he says that can't be believed um he came out on

Twitter this week and says that he actually knows the name of the child that everyone's been calling baby Yoda and so people have been trying to guess and then um he's just tweeted again and weighed in saying that he's his guess is that um the baby's called Nigel no hope that's true wrong you are TKE it is but definitely yeah check out judge rabbit it's really good well I might after this goson in it and I liked her in it oh [ __ ] what yeah who who was in it sorry Rebel Wilson okay Jesus Steve mer as a [ __ ] agent uh yeah it's got Sam Rockwell and what's Alfie what's his name from uh Game of Thrones it's got

It's it's a stared cast to be honest but the kid the [ __ ] the two two kids in it actually are brilliant I don't know where he found these kids like kids that can act I I feel like are always we're starting to see a lot of kids who can act these days yeah no this [ __ ] amazing yeah did you guys see that ad he did in New Zealand years ago for don't smoke dope and drive where there were two kids sitting in the car pretending that they were their dads getting blazed and driving and it's just [ __ ] great no I never did see that it's actually it's actually quite a good ad I go watch it it's very good now all right you go watch JoJo raber now yeah all this is hit pause go watch then come back no but honestly this is uh if you're not sure about it CU I I

agree the trailers made me go I don't know uh no check it out it's it's really I might go and see qualify for an award screener of this film yes if you know what I that what you're going to call it now yeah whereas I'm actually probably just going to go to the movies and see it but I'm going to go see jamuni first so answer me this m because the uh so H went and saw it with her mom while we were in Sydney last week and the they liked it they both really loved it but then for the next for the rest of the trip the next couple of days ha's mom called me JoJo now I haven't seen the movie but is that a compliment or not a compliment depends on the context well there was no

context well let me tell you this he's a fanatical Nazi suppor so sure okay yeah he starts out the movie as a as a full-on patriotic little Nazi who goes to Hitler Youth and and wants to go to go kill the rest of the world so sure great I'm surprised you haven't seen jamanji already to be honest Luke I was actually going to go see it on this weekend but I worked last night and Hannah got called into to work today so it's quite any of these Jumanji movies happen in the same universe or connected to in any way the original Jumanji or are this just a total reboot yeah yes they are yes yes they are it's a sort of a direct sequel direct sequel holy [ __ ] okay mhm so basically what it is is uh the first one came out a very long time ago so I don't think this is a

spoiler but they find the game right and some kid finds a game and then goes a Bard game who would play that and throws it to the side goes back to playing video games and then the board game changes into a video game ah so the game is sentient now and it wants you to play it that's terrif yes what I liked about the first movie was that it was pretty dark in in terms of theme are these these don't seem as dark um well yeah I guess not I it's been a little while since I watched the first one it is a little like it's it's got some serious moments but it is it's definitely comedy it is it's it's still fun yeah how many how many have we up to now is it at least a couple right this be only one is this is it's actually the four one oh you talking

aboutus which is yeah which is Zera something like that which was no you're th that Zar yeah I actually am different game starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson but yeah so this is really the fourth one you can sort of I'm and out between if it's three or four depending on if you count the Zara movie yeah no sounds good I I went to the movies this week too Matt you saw a you saw a World War II movie um I saw a World War I movie so I don't know whether that makes me one better than you or one not quite as good uh but I there's there's not many movies said in World War I and um I commented last night that World War I is my favorite war and I got looks at like why do you have a favorite war but this is my favorite war and um I I sort of

agree with you in that I find people talk about how bad World War II was but I always I can't help but thinking how World War I feel like is like the Pinnacle of human suffering almost yeah it is man it really is and it changed it changed the world irreparably forever like if I had to choose which one to be in it would be World War II I would agree absolutely absolutely on the side of the Allies listeners don't get don't the wrong idea yeah mind you we're Aussies so we would probably just all be in Japanese P camps in Papa New Guinea I don't think that F fair fair I mean yeah I'm not saying either of them were great but yeah the first one terrified they they they you know before World War II they called World War I the Great War because it was so good yeah

you know [ __ ] me and a lot a lot of the stuff that they did in World War I they made then made laws that you can't do just a yeah that's right I mean they started the League of Nations which became the United Nations because of that everything they Esperanto the they were going to try to have a one World Language all of these things that came out after World War I to be like this [ __ ] can't happen again but anyway I hope you guys are brushing up on your Arabic unrelated um but it's less than two weeks into 2020 and I'm calling 1917 as the movie of the year there is no way a better movie this will come out this year this is pure cinematic storytelling as its absolute best Sam meny I will put money on it that I won't watch it and if I do I won't like it no I think you I

think you would man this I don't this is just a really good movie a really good movie interesting all right I mean it doesn't have the rock it but it does have a bunch of cool British actors does it does it have a rock at least some rocks no a rock no lightsabers there a quarry yeah stuff explodes I know that I've seen a clip from it a [ __ ] shitload of stuff explodes man uh it's great than spoilers who wins [ __ ] I tell you we all lose yeah especially Germany that's right well they they did start it yeah oh yeah you could argue You could argue that they had no choice but they they kind of did yeah also

we're sitting there waiting for it to begin and and H goes to me how did World War I start and I like I I started to like I paused because I was thinking where do I start explaining from and during that pause she was like never mind I already take it back I don't want to know pleas don't tell me have you heard of France Ferdinand yeah no because that's where your mind goes but then you're like well no because I mean Europe was in crisis before then anyway I mean you have to kind of you have to go back to the Napoleonic Wars to and explain how Europe was L after the world the War of 1812 to to even understand that this war was really already going on it's just that the the spark hadn't ignited yet anyway that can be another podcast yeah

it's called hardcore history and listeners you should check it out yeah uh what was what was his um World War I series on that called uh uh something to Armageddon um oh yes blueprint Armageddon blueprint Armageddon yeah blueprint Armageddon yeah that's [ __ ] seriously it goes for like 20 hours yeah it's amazing and it's great yeah it is it is um I also saw another movie this week uh I saw Rambo last Blood either you guys seen this one no used in the war movies at the moment if you could call this a war movie see I need to wrap up my my Rambo you know viewing experience I watched all of them uh and now I got to watch this so I'm anything away is it as good as raino 3 is it as good as Rambo 3

look is this the fourth or fifth rainbow fifth The Fifth Fifth Fifth and last it's called last blood but it um it's been doing well so of course Stoners come out and say well maybe it's the second to last well they with the Last Jedi and then we had another one so yeah that's right only the only the first Rambo is can realistically be called a good move air ques the rest a different [ __ ] m not even the same kind of movie and this is different again not only is this different again but this kind of I feel changes some of the context of the earlier movies as well really yeah I mean look this is not a spoiler and have you seen the trailer cuz if you've seen the trailer you know what I'm about to say I've seen nothing

about this movie I have I don't but if you don't want to know anything I I mean it's not I don't think it's going to blow my mind is it so think this I think this is the type of movie that you could find out the entire plot and it wouldn't ruin your there's no PL actually there's actually there's more of a plot in this one than there have been in previous ones which I thought was odd like you see Rambo doing a bit more than you normally see him doing um but that said it's it's set on a ranch right it's set on a horse stud that Rambo's dad owned and that Rambo grew up on that Rambo now own okay fine except that that means in First Blood the original Rambo when he was drifting from town to town and getting run off by the sheriffs he could have

gone back to his family farm of which he would inherit one day and in the second and third when he's hanging out in [ __ ] bars in Bangkok and like I mean he had a horse stud back in America yeah well he was in prison in the second one so he's in the clear there oh true oh wait no he gets out of prison and then he goes oh no that's the third one where he's in Thailand again yeah it's the third one is's in Thailand four I think he in Thailand too though right yeah he is yeah yeah yeah all right and then someone wrongs him obviously someone wrongs him yeah someone wrongs and he uh and then I mean look it's a good theme and it's it's kind of all about like if Rambo retired and left his violent life behind could

he did in Rainbow three and two um and the end of one and one could he actually be a regular person or will will the already explored that in the first one that's what the first movie is about is how does someone who comes back from [ __ ] Vietnam integrated Society they don't imagine imagine you took the theme of that and erased all the subtlety and literally just put that kind of stuff into the dialogue fine yeah yeah and then he takes down a Mexican cartel as one does does he get the girl I'm not going to answer that and you'll know why after you've seen it all right because it' be creepy if he did yes cuz it's his da going to answer

that yes oh can I this might be spoilers is is he is it do you have a daughter with uh what's her name or did she die in the fourth one no it's not you mean dala from Yeah Yeah from B No in fact it's so funny his maid his Mexican maid from when he was a kid is still his maid now and it's actually her daughter but he raised her as his own this scene where it's [ __ ] Rambo like how old is this guy 70 right sitting yeah and this woman who is supposed to have been his maid when he was a kid is going oh you remind

mine and a bunch of his as well and then we we're in Edinburgh uh you know burken hair the the famous robbers um the the doctor that was giving them the the cavers had a violin made by my ancestor uh and it's in the museum there along in the birken hair exhibit which I had no idea we just went there to look at you know the the medical stuff and then there it was so and then obviously I was like excuse me you need to open this cabin I need my violin back thanks yeah but I got curious right I want to see can get one of these violins so I'm looking online yeah yeah yeah and there was a ton of them on auction sites and stuff like that no clear indication of how much these things are worth mhm auction sites
