I've drunk myself sober oh I've done that before that sucks and now I'm that horrible horrible place not to air your health laundry on the podcast but aren't you not supposed to drink that much I don't think anyone's supposed to drink that much tell what doctors say how much do they know no um all right yeah no no no no he's got a point there because some you know in Luke's experience the doctors can't even tell if a bone is broken or not that's true is it the same doctor my wrist is now in plaster oh okay so it was broken yes I went and saw another doctor ah and I went look my wrist is still hurt Hing I spoke to the guy last week and he said to come back it's still s and he's yeah we probably should have done something about this last week yeah in my experience it's not

usually a gray area whether a Bone's broken or not is usually one or the other and he's still like I could send you for another expensive scin or we could just put it in plaster now which is probably what I'm going to do anyway just put it in plaster so is that this the first doctor right that was like let's just wait and see is that the doctor that you go to about your liver issues like no it is not like you've sort this person out because that that's their kind of my doctor I normally go to is on holidays oh okay so it's just a walk in I've H myself I need to see someone but to try and fix my sober issue oh dear well it's it's that time of year again it's the holidays happy

holidays guys happy holidays oh don't do that don't do [ __ ] Christmas time well yeah okay it's Christmas the reason I say happy holidays is I tried to do something tonight which is holiday related right and watch the holiday special okay God the Star Wars holiday special look Matt I know You' being in PC and I know that you know we we get a little bit of flack on this podcast for being a bit on PC time to time but this isn't the holiday season this is [ __ ] Christmas and we shouldn't be afraid to say Merry Christmas at Christmas time any any more than we uh say Salam Ed barck when it's [ __ ] id M barck like it's fine that we all do different holidays we should be able to talk about it well see I was going to suggest that we come up with our own kind of multiple

nerdgasm non- denominational holiday but sounds like you might not go for that um look I'd like to segue quickly into a story uh that arose this week in kind of in my backyard and that's that the Sultan of brunai has uh banned Christmas and uh you get up to 5 years in prison if you're caught celebrating Christmas what y if you're caught so I'm just going to leave that there and uh say Merry Christmas to all our uh listeners in brunai we do every year uh we talk about holiday Christmas traditions I'll say Christmas fine Christmas traditions around the world yeah Matt it's [ __ ] Christmas have you guys heard of mumming do I want to know sorry mummering my mistake uh tell like a sex thing yeah it does sound like a sex act

it's not a sex act it's a uh well I mean it possibly could become one but it's a tradition in could become one and Labrador uh patches of Ireland especially fingle and it involves a group of friends see fingle sounds like a sex act as well it does yeah it does bit of finging it's when a group of friends or family uh dress up in disguises and then they go and visit other people you know around the town during the the 12 Days of Christmas and basically so they they come to your door they get dressed up in in like actual disguises you're not supposed to know who they are and then they'll turn up at your house knock on the door and they do kind of some performances that may or may not include dance music jokes or recitations okay and then the ghosts have to try and

guess who they are but like they can ask you know ask them some questions and that kind of thing uh and then they them in for some food and some drink so you come in you have a bit of a party mhm uh and then the you know once they've if you can guess who they are then they have to take their disguises off uh they have to hang about for a bit at the party uh and then they put the costumes back on and move on to the next house Jesus I mean Ming sounds uh like a like a pretty big commitment yeah it really does I'm just think what happens if someone just rocks up and they start doing their act at the front and then they come in and you don't actually know them well then you can just keep saying that NOP are you this person no it says that they uh they may stuff their

costumes assume to make themselves look bigger than they normally would they can crossdress or they can speak while inhaling which is called ingressive Speech which when you think about that it sounds a little terrifying to me Merry Christmas everyone the next one minute we have to talk in what did you call it Matt aggressive speech aggressive speech yeah that's that's quite a terrifying B I don't think I can do this let me in I want to eat some food yeah that's a we like um actually quite difficult this early in the morning I can tell it's you but you're uh you're freaking me out you know it's not much of a disguise but it is really really creepy mhm and coupled with the glasses and false nose combination that you've got going on well yeah apparently it's uh it's

it's an ancient tradition uh an old tradition but it uh experienced a Revival in the 1980s okay uh because some popular music duo wrote a song about it in New Foundland okay so right so there's that we also got sent in uh by Lista Nicole a one of our favorite Christmas traditions uh is in the news again and that's kago pooping log oh okay yeah um the uh Catalan tradition where the uh the log gets popped I don't know if it's under the tree or it's it's it's in the in the living room and uh the parents swap it out with a bigger log every night until Christmas and the kids beat the [ __ ] out of it with a stick and it poops presents yeah yeah I want to do that one you come

on you want to poop presents yep I think your cats do that for you every day yeah but their presents suck and the other the other one um that's in the news at the moment back up before you move on why has that been in the news at the moment kago oh it's just they've people been talking about you know weird Traditions they've kind of seen what we've been doing till we get the moment yeah well you know people keep stealing our [ __ ] so yeah I think we've re-popularize that holiday quite frankly yeah well I'm assuming that's where it's come from so um and also Al kaga which I think I pretty sure we've also discussed El kaga before who is uh you know during a traditional nativity scene in Catalan he's the figure taking a

[ __ ] and that's not a joke there's uh in a Catalina nativity scene you've got you know Mary and Joseph and and the baby and all the other usual you know characters and then uh somewhere in the scene there'll be a little guy with his pants down just taking a poop on the floor just like in the Bible just like in the Bible when you got to go when you got to go it's not like it's a clean room or anything it's a barn that's right it's a stable do you want to move on to another nativity scene that I've noticed has been added here to the spreadsheet would you be talking about the uh the dildo nativity scene that is causing quite a bit of controversy I am I am indeed yeah so I mean this is a nativity scene uh as the name suggests made entirely of dildos the little Mary

dildo Joseph dildo and a baby Jesus dildo um now this was set up in a section shop but even within that perfectly contextual scenario uh people have gotten a quite a bit offended MH it was in the window so I can I mean yeah people could see it from the street yeah but what I mean you're looking in the window of a sex shop anyway yeah that's true well see I this the part this is where I thought it's weird to begin with CU in Australia you can't have dildos just sitting in the window it's Spain mate you can do whatever you want in Spain they're upstairs yeah man I mean you walk a shame up those stairs Luke knows all about it oh we've all been for a walk up to a sex shop in the cross before of course in the we filmed in one if you recall oh yeah we did

too on my dad's short film yeah and they the the the guy working there said it was fine as long as he could be in it and he was [ __ ] awful yeah he really was he was so bad that you would have thought he wouldn't want to be in something you know exactly yeah did you sort of just film enough around him that you could just easily cut him out yeah he had like he ended up I don't think he ended up with any lines did he yeah we we made it so that he was just kind of staring blankly at the other characters who were saying lines cuz that's what he was doing anyway that's oh yeah I mean that's all we could really must from it wasn't it but yeah they didn't uh they didn't have a dilder nativity scene uh no they didn't I mean it's it's quite a simple scene I'll I'll say that yeah I mean you

know I would have thought they could probably Master at least say a donkey some wise men I wonder know yeah list go look at the picture of this got you got the Mary you got the Jesus then you've got Merlin on the left that's I guess that's what people look like back then in the Middle East they look like Merlin yeah just yeah look like um gandal the gray and how big is that baby well dildo side the dildo or what I want to know is why the baby Jesus dildo is a flaccid penis like for what purpose would you buy a flaccid dildo H I'm going to be honest and say I don't know no um I I don't know either I'm not a connoisseur of these things um I've never even brought an a wrecked one before H you

right-handed Mouse uh I suck using a leftand mouse to begin with I just swap my mouse around sometimes because I work on a computer all day so I'm kind of ambidextrous when it comes to mousing really yeah huh I can I can use either hand yeah I just spent four weeks away using only my laptop right got back last night went to work today and found it weird to use a mouse oh it took a while for me to readjust wow yeah but I realized that I haven't not used a mouse for four continuous weeks since the invention of the mouse Fair Point four weeks is a long

time yeah yeah I I would say I have because I've been uh I've been on vacations slightly longer than four weeks like in in the past when I've been over here like I think five weeks uh once and that so I would I would think I would used a mouse then but yeah it's not often that I go along without it you're um you've been able to play some games since you got back finally is that oh man it's the first thing I did when I walked through the door I turn on my air conditioner and then I turn on my Xbox mhm and uh yeah what are you playing now back in Skyrim and I think I was quite I was I was too quick to judge the special edition because it's it's got some pretty interesting additions and I'm I'm really enjoying it and I just um I just purchased myself Breeze home uh and uh

I've I've decorated it to the max I've put in a child's bedroom and I've adopted myself for an orphan child oh God who is now living in house real family now yeah I don't have a wife but my um my house yl is looking after her while I'm away so you've met this kid once uh that was it no I met her a few times um first I just gave her some money in the street uh the second time she asked to be adopted um and I said I I couldn't um and then when I got the house she wanted to move in but I had no kids bedrooms so she still couldn't um so I I remedied that and uh and now we're all living Under One Roof so y a you built a room that you can use to maintain the facade that you're not sleeping with her yeah you know I mean

if she's got her own little bed there then no one's ask questions to yourself people yeah so would you say the special edition is worth it I haven't bought it yeah I haven't bought any games in a while look it was it was worth it to me because I don't have any of my old games or my old 360 with me in this country so yeah you know just the fact they brought out the special edition made me want to play through Skyrim again and so I had no choice but to well see I own the PC version of it but I don't have a PC anymore I've just got my toop so so what you're asking is if it's more valuable for you to buy the Xbox version of this or to buy a PC to play your old PC version on well no just whether you know whether it's worth revisiting the world of you know world of SC it really is and

I think just the right amount of time has passed okay for me to play it this and it is on special for you right now if you want is it [ __ ] is it in the sale yep I I don't know how much because it shows me owned oh okay oh you got a I managed to play a lot a bunch of games this week a bunch of game this week uh I've been playing a ton of Doom and oh yeah I noticed uh I've gotten super into [ __ ] all the minuche of unlocking things in it for some reason like I'm I really like the new Doom game and uh I've noticed I I guess I'd never gotten a rare achievement before but it actually tells tells you there little Diamond that pops up and says if an achievement you've gotten is rare did you know that Luke I

assume you did oh yes I get lots of them yeah so I got one the other day that only 1% of people have gone which oh that's that's good in a game that's been out for a while so you it you emphasize people in that sentence instead of 1% of people which which makes me think that beings who aren't people quite often get this well because the reason sorry the reason iemp emphasize people is because um when I was explaining this to to people they said oh is it just your friends on Xbox and I was like no no no no it's just everybody and so that's why my my emphasis was a little strange cuz I was I was yeah that popped into my head as I was saying it that that was unclear before but yeah so it's apparently 1% of all Gamers who've played Doom correct

Luke is that how it works yeah correct well I mean it it would be considerably less than 1% if it was all people I mean There's 7 billion people all right all right who own own the game yeah right so yeah well so I I think that particular one was that I I powered up uh all of the weapons 100% yeah that that that's a great achievement to get especially for that's a great rare achievement to unlock yeah so I I powered up all the weapons I powered up all of my armor and I powered up all of the runes and I got rare achievements for all of that and I also got some other one as well forget what it was I got I got a bunch of them this week just because I've been question are the

weapons in the new Doom the same as the weapons in the old Doom yes they are you know shotgun double barrel shotgun uhhuh BFG yep the new Doom's really good then you should play it really I've played the first level and but I really enjoyed it when I played that so I'm going to ask this and obviously this is this is an empty question because clearly I don't mean anything by this but does it have multiplayer yes right so theoretically we could all play Doom together yeah absolutely see that that sounds like not only that it's got uh they keep releasing content for it it's got a bunch of um cool new game modes coming out all the time seemingly and it's got the map editor like the original Doom had oh you can make your own maps that

was the most fun thing about Doom yeah like they've done a really good job like it it it feels like a modern game but it really captures Doom like it's quite simple like you've got a big gun and a bunch of like hundreds of [ __ ] demons around and you just you run around and if you you've got to keep moving we've talked about this before I'm sure but you've got to keep moving otherwise you'll just be overwhelmed but you just got to like keep running around [ __ ] shooting everything like it's yeah it's really not like any first first person shooters are out now this one is you have to always keep moving well man we used to love these games yeah yeah it's it's like if you want a kind of adrenaline pumping [ __ ] action gate with a with a awesome heavy

metal soundtrack it's great when you put it that way I highly recommend it if it's on sale in the sale that like yeah listeners is an Xbox S on now we've I think mentioned it off hand a couple times it's a big Xbox S on for Christmas probably going to be over by the time you hear this oh that's not true it goes till the 29th no no this go through to January yeah I keep forgetting you currently logged in to your Xbox yes like is it now yes can you check if is she there with you now Luke yep um CU I'm actually looking at the specials now um it won't unfortunately it won't tell me oh that's right he owns already you have it already yeah okay can't you tell it to show the price in there a button for that no cuz it shows the prices or shows

if I own it or I've got it installed like if I've owned it why do I care about the price no no I thought there was a show price button at some point maybe you're going to buy it as a gift for me say you can't do that that's actually I saw a post on Reddit someone said that that's a feature they should add like on Steam you buy a game for someone else they should do that I think they'd make you know more money doing that yeah I agree it's not on sale yet but it might be but I reckon it will be and I picked it up for like 60% off or something yeah I'll I'll check in for that actually I do find it funny that on Steam uh when you go to buy a game it defaults to do you want to buy this for someone else and you actually have to scroll down to know this is for me yeah

because they know you don't have time because you're already busy yeah do you really need to add this game to your library yeah that's right like really another game this must be a gift tell me it's a and goes you buying them to play or you just collecting them buddy it just popped up no this is not civilization so you're not going to be playing it so we'll just move along speaking of civiliz you know what I did the other day played civilization played Civ 5 oh yeah oh you went back I've gone back man I'll try again with civ7 but I just I don't like the vibe of this I don't like the vibe of Civ 6 with the Caron who's silly I think you've saved me cuz I was thinking about it but but I mean Civ 5 is a great game yeah I could just play that yeah

you can that I mean that's what I've decided like another few years I'll just keep playing this because it is great and uh you know I mean it's you know there there's nothing lacking in it there was it wasn't anything I wanted it to be more right and uh Civ 6 isn't more it's less so [ __ ] you s Meer and uh I'm going back to Civ 5 I mean you got my money you got my money what do you want can you can do multiplayer in Civ 5 actually can't I think you absolutely can you play keep threatening to have a game together and we never find the time man we should do that well well you can't really see cuz that's a game that takes

forever yeah can you play a remote game with somebody in Civ 5 but not at the same time kind of like when we had our Network for uh Minecraft and we all just checked in whenever we could I don't know we should investigate that because I mean I'm happy to check in every day and go and have a look yeah I could do that absolutely maybe maybe that or if not that's something like that's what we should be aiming for yeah like a ter based game where it's just yeah just log in at some point make you move and then oh yeah right because and then you take your turn and then yeah you wait for the next person they must have thought of that like there's no way we're smart enough to have come up with that and they didn't like they made the

[ __ ] game you know what I mean yeah yeah we should look into that um in gaming news while we're while we're talking about games uh the Nintendo switch is apparently it's coming out in March so that's pretty quick yeah uh and I will play with it in February yeah oh at uh RTX or something RTX yeah yeah Co so they're going to have it there are they yeah they're going to have it there so it's going to be in a few places in America but in Australia it's going to be at RTX okay I assume it's going to be at PX East but uh that's actually just after the release so which but I probably won't have one by then so I can probably still I for me having one is really going to depend on if it's coming with Zelda or not yeah

they've announced well not really announced it's been discovered that the the hardware in it I'm I'm not going to get into specs because I don't think we're really qualified to talk specs uh on a you know a numbers level but uh it's got the same kind of Graphics Hardware as the uh uh some of the Android gaming tablets except it's clocked lower so basically it's not going to be it's not an Xbox One or a PS4 competitor it's it's something else it's it's always going to be its own thing but it what's I've heard is it's more powerful in the dock yeah yeah it's quite reason signicant down clocked it when you're on the go is for battery life yeah that makes sense but also it means that uh they might end up in the same situation that they did with

with the Wii and the Wii U where it's underpowered so the you know first party games aren't going to come out for it they've got one good thing for third party developers evidently out of all the three big consoles like the Nintendo Xbox and Playstation the Nintendo switch is actually the easiest thing to make games for oh okay yeah lot smaller things sort of just porting stuff over what does that because it's basically an iOS game machine well it's I don't know anymore than that yeah but but it and that sounds good except they're not going to want us they're going to make the game for the Xbox One the PS4 so if it's not the same it's not really relevant whether it's easier because they're going to make it for the other ones you know yeah they'll make it for

the other ones then just P it over well yeah maybe they will are you buying a Nintendo to play Fallout and Skyrim and all these big games or are you buying that's what I that's what we said remember when if this thing can be if this thing could be the Xbox one except I can also take it with me [ __ ] yeah I will you know but yeah but the Nintendo that's not Nintendo yeah apparently not you no Nintendo they're always going to do their own thing I just have a feeling this is going to be like the Wii U where it's like it's a nice idea but no one not enough people are going to buy it and it's going to lose traction although Super Mario run has apparently been downloaded more than anything else 4 million um downloads in like the first day or something

stupid like that you guys have it yep yeah had a quick go of it it's it's it's all right I uh I haven't got it yet but I did watch H play it last night she seems to enjoy it actually she had quite a bit of criticism of it to be completely honest yeah yeah it instantly demands money um if you want to play it for more than you know 10 minutes cuz that's the thing they're they're not going with microtransactions it's uh you buy it you own it that's it yes there's no well demanding money is okay if you're buying something I me of a transaction right yeah yeah I'm not I'm not super annoyed about that other people are I think um they get you in there you can play a couple of levels for free and then it wants you to unlock the actual game like I don't necessarily

have an issue with that but which what they're giving you the first couple of levels as sort of a demo and then if you want to play it buy if not cuz I prefer keep playing these for your de I prefer IOS games that you can just buy and then it's yours and you can play it like I don't I'm not into microtransactions and all that [ __ ] but that is something you could do that with this right I mean you could just purchase the game out right from the get-go it's all you can do I think so yeah yeah yeah no I think you have to you have to progress a certain amount before you get the option of paying for it but yeah okay oh I'd assume you'd just be able to buy it straight away no no you can't it's an inapp purchase wow so you've got to you have to start the game in order to make the payment you

know what I mean oh wow a lot of them are like that but I mean if you plan to purchase the whole game anyway I mean that doesn't really matter you don't have to start again once you purchased the whole game right oh I think people just get dirty because they're used to shipping free on on the iPhone you know and so soon as something asks them to pay they're like what now why they've been downloaded like 4 million times it actually hasn't really converted over to sales probably not that much no it's again people don't want to pay for games on iPhone they've made about 21 million which is still a hell of a lot doesn't really match what they were expecting it's more money than I made this week like evidently Nintendo's stock price just keeps

plummeting at the moment well come and made all these announcements release games and there stock is just dropping gu we'll see what happens when the switch comes out give me Zelda make Zelda for the Xbox yeah this has got to be the last generation of Nintendo consoles right we said conses ago I know but they just stop maybe they're going to nail it with this one who knows this one I probably will buy I like the that's why they're not stopping the consult see this one I probably won't buy because I'm in a position now where if this had come out when I was and obviously there's no way they could have known this so I'm not BL and they might not have based it around you anyway but go on exactly if they had released this

when I still in Sydney and I was catching the train every day uh I would probably be very interested in the Nintendo switch but as it stands I'm here now uh you kind of have to drive if you want to get to work anywhere here so I don't know that I'm ever going to use a Nintendo switch also Xbox my Xbox is here and then I'll be driving and then I'll be at work so and that's that's the reason why I stopped reading cuz I when I moved to camra wasn't catching the train to work and I stopped reading now I don't read at all well I still read I still buy books but I don't read all right well I still read I just don't read on the train I just read yeah know read before I go to bed didn't read before you go to bed second I get a game subtitles get turned off

Skype yep yeah well that's just how we roll [ __ ] remember the early podcasts when all we did was talk over each other yeah I remember that earlier in this episode we were all in the same room and we were recording to one track so we couldn't edit anything and it was just all of us talking over each other why the [ __ ] and mostly just laughing and banging the desk so that you couldn't hear us anyway yeah I don't know the really great thing is when we just had two conversations going and we used yeah we used to really legitimately be bad at podcasting yeah and that's why people go ah the early episodes aren't up and I'm like yeah there's a reason for that they [ __ ] awful yeah God you can't go back

no oh like uh there I tried to listen to one like 6 months ago and it was just terrible quality of recording and quality of content yeah definitely have improved yeah recorded on a potato while it's just four guys all yell and [ __ ] at the same time those were the days yeah it was fun but uh yeah it was fun for the four of us I don't know uh we definitely seemed to get more listeners when we started doing a better job of it oh I can't imagine why um apparently this is not available anymore do you guys did you guys get to see this mummy trailer that was accident uploaded I didn't I caught a part of it oh man it was pretty funny I've really searched now but every link is dead oh yeah they did a good job of covering well not covering it up but just erasing

that so somebody screwed up uh and uploaded a version of The Mummy trailer the new Mummy starring Tom Cruz the reboot uh for the IMAX release they uploaded the trailer without the proper audio mix and man it was [ __ ] weird it's just Tom Cruz yelling um and what they the person's done is uploaded it without the full music and sound effects so it was there was sequences in it where it's like dead silence the plane is falling out of the sky yeah and all you can hear is [ __ ] hilarious and somebody has uh uh they've taken the audio from it and um it's been applied to other things did you see the yeah it was very funny and I guess probably someone got fired and now they've issued copyright claims against all of the videos and you can't see it

anymore unfortunately oh you will be able to find it eventually I'm sure they'll give up at some stage nothing disappears from the internet no but you can see if you go to the link uh in the show notes you'll be able to see somebody's applied um Tom Cruz's yelling from the trailer when I'm watching this I'm watching the one right now yeah it's good right oh man but just imagine watching the [ __ ] mummy trailer and that's all you can hear that makes me want to watch The Mummy trailer so much more now I'm so annoyed somebody must have downloaded it it was really surreal we need another mommy movie uh do you know what I saw the trailer uh while we were away uh we were actually having dinner at um in

Roswell actually in in like a pub there and they had the TV on cuz there was some kind of sport on and we're sitting there and this the the trailer came on and you know cuz it doesn't seem like it's a mummy trailer at all for the first you know yeah you know half of the trailer and I was like the [ __ ] is this because it looks like it's some kind of Science Fiction film it's played very kind of you know like a mystery like what's you know what's going on with Tom Cruz kind and I was like what is this and then the mmy showed up and I was like oh okay yeah it looks like a mission impossible almost yeah exactly it looks like the next mission impossible movie yeah that's the Vibe by goth Robert yeah I thought it was like a mission impossible mixed with some sci-fi mixed with some

fantasy and I mean I guess it is well look I mean don't get me wrong Matt the way that you just described that I would watch the [ __ ] out of that but this looks terrible well it it only looks terrible a bit later on in the trailer because it gets a bit goofy but I mean the first half of the trailer looked really cool yeah I thought we'll see I'll probably watch it like don't get me wrong but I'll watch it if it's just Tom Cruz screaming with no other audio maybe it will be now maybe it's going to be like Snakes on a Plane where the movie was going to be one thing the internet wanted it to be something else so they changed it like the um Blood and Chrome edition of Mad Max Fury Road when the director was like no no that's my vision it's just home Cruz

yelling yeah I would have done that if the studio had let me have you uh have you seen that yet by the way I haven't I haven't but I do want to get it you know there's the um George Miller his original concept what he wanted to do for Fury Road was just black and white a black and white film and so he shot it um with the intention of if they would let him eventually just putting it in black and white and then that's they've released that on Blu-Ray now you can you get it it's uh no I still haven't seen I want to it's the same film but apparently he shot it with the intention of doing this so I'm actually pretty interested in seeing it just to see how the you know the coloring and the you yeah how it looks I'm interesting [ __ ] yeah absolutely there's a special

edition where you get both versions did you watch I know you probably did the uh the Blade Runner teaser [ __ ] yes I did I did it's um I don't know I'm excited but it's also I get the feeling it's going to be very different from the the first one I keep going Say the original but it's not a remake it's a sequel that's right yeah well I mean to me it looks like a bit of a soft reboot oh yeah like Ryan Gosling's character kind of seems like he's just he has the same haircut and the same clothes on as deard did in the original one I guess he's a Blade Runner yeah but I mean that's just a uniform I don't know about that yeah I know I mean they just they just wore whatever they wanted that's just what [ __ ] deard used to wear yeah uh it looks pretty uh it's actually it's

not directed by Ridley Scott it's directed by um someone else he Ridley Scott produced it and obviously he shows up in all the photos about yeah and his name is in the trailer above the directors well you know it's Ridley yeah yeah he probably he probably suggested in air quotes suggested they do that yeah can I ask your fav because I was confused at the end of this trailer and I thought it was coming out in June so Matt can you please fix it that you have the right date over in America I'm working on that's the one thing that's going to stress me out when I do start working over here is I'm sure I'm going to a I'm going to be putting use in words that they don't have use in here and I'm going to be writing the

date the wrong way I've gotten pretty good at the right way the correct way yeah it's just what I've Gotten Good at it in that every time I am required to write the date on something I have to stop and think about it for 10 seconds so I'm sure that's probably going to be an Affliction for the rest of my life now cuz I was actually sort of excited cuz I went oh 10th of June that's great then you reminded me no that's October 6th of October yep look I'm uh I'm going to be quietly optimistic between now and Men um I love blade run is one of my favorite films uh certainly didn't think it cried out for a sequel any more than it was crying out for a director's cut etc etc but uh I'll see this anyway this will almost certainly be very different in in Pace than the original there's no

way they would make a film as slow and Atmospheric as the first one atmospheric is not fair you know what I mean like if you've seen no I I agree like I love the placing of Blade Runner but you're right that certainly would be under pressure to make it it's going to be a modern film this will also be what Harrison Ford's second last movie his penultimate film well no I I have the theory I have the theory that he's done Star Wars he's doing blade run then he's also going to be Indiana Jones and then he's going to retire he's going to be he's going to be and die he's going to be R and die he's going to be Indiana Jones and die and then he's going to die a I I don't want him to die I just think he should retire because he's I want him to die do we get anymore

like Shan connory yeah Shan connory was Sean con did it right just I'm done yeah I just wish he hadn't done the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as his last final film well that was his reason believe was I have no idea what's happening anymore I'm out yeah he said he he he it looked really good and then the film came out and he was like I don't understand this anymore which I think it's good when someone can actually understand that and know when it's their time to go yeah I completely agree also I I mean I know we've it's probably going to happen because we suggested but I still love the idea of Harrison Ford reprising all of his past roles so that the characters can die yeah Dead's going to have to die it's G to happen I'm assuming yes

although come out of retirement to help and he's going down I mean it is funny although I could also see him being like come on like I'm not that's not what I'm doing you know I I I want to know how are they going to get around the fact I'm trying to say this without spoilers but I know what you're going to say I was going to say the same thing I think yeah right you know what I'm talking about right yeah there's some ambiguity in the first film kind of ruined now yeah yeah yeah well yeah that's that's now well he's not but I mean even if they tried to have about spoilers from a movie from back there all right fine they implied in the end of Blade Runner well they imp through out it but it was left hanging that he may or may not be a replicant right

correct yeah well he's definitely older than six years now so he's not well exactly right and if he if he tries to say I'm an old man now but I still may or may not be a replicant it's like well you're not no unless they didn't because I mean the the the uh artificial life span is you know is artificial maybe they might have left it up off his version or something like that or he was a prototype that they brought out or no no just say no he wasn't maybe all the Blade Runners replicants with slightly altered lifespans right yeah I mean it could still be ambiguous it's just they will have to change it a bit though yeah so or explain I think it's better if they just go he wasn't yeah they didn't have to go into that at all in the first one

whereas in in fact there could be a scene where he's like man you know for a while there I thought I was a replicant I wasn't but I thought I was and then I guess yeah Rachel's dead yeah plus Harrison Ford would never be in a film with sha yanning again I know I've never seen two actors with less chemistry have to kiss on screen than those two yeah apparently she was [ __ ] terrified of him yeah yeah in that scene where he basically rapes her yeah because the scripture says he kisses her and then he hates her so much he's just [ __ ] strangling her yeah it's an intense scene my favorite shot in that whole movie I just remembered it it's not that scene is um is when he uh he he's been beaten up by I think by um anyway it doesn't matter he gets beaten

up by one of the replicants and he goes back and he drinks from a shot of I guess vodka or something and then as he drinks it you see the blood from his lip go back into the the liquid in the shot and it's um yeah yeah just the way it's lit from behind and everything like that [ __ ] really Scott's Great although apparently he was he was a [ __ ] nightmare to work with on that and probably every other film he makes still love him oh yeah I think he he knows what he's doing yes he [ __ ] does he's made over a million commercials yeah I kind of wish he hadn't tackled Robin Hood though because I love Scott and I love Robin Hood and [ __ ] me that was terrible see I'm I'm I'm creating a bit of um I guess dissonance myself because I do feel like if I'm honest he's kind

of lost the plot a bit as he's gotten older but I'm kind of pretending that he has look I I'll stand by Prometheus oh I liked Prometheus yeah I know everyone Rags on that movie but I [ __ ] love I need I needed a second viewing for that one no I like Prometheus I do feel like he went a bit you know Robin Hood uh even Kingdom of Heaven I like Kingdom of Heaven A lot but no it could have been good yeah well hopefully he does right with this one and this director okay I don't what else has this director done I know I know what he's doing but I don't know what he's done what else has he done by what you're what he's doing uh you're obviously referring to the fact that he's uh working on the June

adaptation yes I'm [ __ ] psyched about that man about to say who's asking for that [ __ ] I'd watch you wouldn't watch a June movie one that's actually based on the book I tried to read those books so many times I can just not get into I've only read the first one yeah I've only first one too yeah but that's enough because it's a really long book right too many words it's like reading four books yeah it's just so descriptive and I just yeah it's like I knew what was going on the words describe some kind of [Laughter] story you maybe you should try reading screenplays no those words still are descriptive yes they're less descriptive though because you're not supposed to to go too far into it because it's the director's vision isn't that how it works with the screenplay yeah it's

supposed to basically be like an eyewitness is describing to you what they can see yeah right yeah and you're not you're not supposed to go too far into it you're not supposed to write down in a screenplay anything that a line producer can't interpret as something that you can see or hear right yeah gotcha so you would write um deard enters building deard takes out gun you wouldn't write decard is upset you could write right you could write decard scows decard wonders where he left his keys how the [ __ ] do you portray that exactly you could say deard Pats down his pockets right looking for the keys like no no you can't write that right because that's a judgment okay is is

that true like even if it's if it's you know look I mean I guess that's probably a gray area right sure no just I know that that I know that's a rule I haven't written a whole lot of screenplays I'll be honest but I do know that that's a rule because I did I did a screenwriting course um yeah with uh actually by a fairly well-known Australian screenwriter it was a good time I remember when you uh went to that course and then came home and then just told me and Dave everything you learned at that course so it felt like we had gone to that course as well yeah that's right I also pitched him on a film idea which I'm not gonna I'm not gonna I know what you're talking about too it's the b word right yes it is yeah and uh he told me it was a really good idea for for

various uh political reasons yeah I remember what he said too but I agree with him I think that is a good I think that is a good idea I want to know what it is now so have you guys seen arrival yeah okay cuz that's the same director is it yes oh well then I'm stoked cuz Ral was really good yeah I haven't seen it yet but it's at the top of my list you know actually this that's another thing I wanted to talk about that I forgot I didn't mention that I went to the Alamo Draft House did I uh I can't remember if you did or not because I know you did go there but uh we may or may not have talked about it on the podcast well it's my it's literally now my favorite theater and I'm sure most people say I think Quenton Tarantino says that so you know coming from me it

doesn't really mean much but um I don't know mate you have met him so it's true um it's kind of like you know we've talked about uh you know get a little blanky uh in Singapore and to Dr and like this is not as fancy as far as the blankie and the reclining seats but it's kind of got normal theater seats but you do have like a uh I guess like a a bar in front of you uh like a like a a what what what it's basically like it's kind of like a table like it runs across and basically what you do is at any point I thought you me someone serving me drinks like directly in front of me yeah well great idea kind of because what you do is there's a menu and any and and they give you a little order ticketing book and anytime you want anything you just write down what

you want on a piece of paper and stick it in a little um stand in front of you in a little Groove and people come and bring you whatever you want immediately and uh so you can order food you you order food beforehand so they can prepare it but if you want a drink you just write I want a gin and tonic on a piece of paper and stick it in front of you and then someone will come and get it and then bring you one and so that was awesome and the food was really good uh and and the beers they've got like 50 beers or something on tap which is [ __ ] like I love beer so that was good but not only that they've got very strict policies around uh talking during the film and using your phone during the film and actually comes up someone's taken that seriously it comes out with a

message at the beginning before the film starts and it says if you use your phone you will be asked to leave and actually funny cuz last year they the Draft House was talking at bringing in screenings where people could use their phones really going to have special screenings where if you want to use your phone message go for it so you can pay extra to not pay attention to the movie and just check your Facebook while a movie plays they got rid of that cuz it was a stupid idea I just don't understand why anyone would buy a movie ticket and then just hang out playing on their phone but they [ __ ] do I I because I thought uh you know that's that's all very well to say it because they say you know all Cinema say you should turn your phone

off but I wonder if they'll do anything if someone does but and then they brought the food out right and then there was a woman next to me uh they brought her food H and because it's quite dark in there so a theater and and she liter all she did was to to look at the food before she started eating she just kind of held her phone up and just turned the screen on so that it would illiminate the food she was fairly you know discreet about it just lit the food up for a second went oh yep then put the phone down and a guy came running over and said excuse me Madam um if you use your phone again I'm going to have to ask you to leave and uh and then and she was like oh my God and I was like this is [ __ ] awesome yeah that's great it's the way it should be yeah so God it

is annoying you can't know what you're eating so stiff [ __ ] just it's really good uh in fact if I was if you into movies Austin's a pretty good place to live just for that reason I think like that's definitely like honestly if I had to make a list of things to decide where I was going to live um that's very influential I would agree actually Austin has quite a big film industry yeah and they have a great big tech industry too apparently Austin is the number one place uh if you're looking for a job in the US in 2017 apparently that's top of the list where you where you'd want to go and right they also have in my opinion uh some of the best food right I definitely consider living in Austin [ __ ] cool man cool city um do we want to discuss uh Rogue one a

little bit again go for it Matt I will discuss this movie on every podcast from now on yep I'm quite happy to discuss this again yeah all right cool well we mentioned uh in our discussion last week that um there was you know some the trailers had different stuff in them in the beginning uh so it seemed like maybe the ending was a little bit different at first uh apparently the very first version of the script um spoilers we're going to talk about spoilers sorry that was close I'm going said something that's a [ __ ] huge spoiler so we're gon to talk about Rogue One spoilers we we said last week we would talk about it once and then if you haven't seen it that's on you well look we've been talking for over

perhaps this will be the end of this will be close to the end of the show so maybe we'll just talk about Rogue One spoilers but uh Until the End go see the film just go [ __ ] see it it's great film what's wrong with you go see it man if you're worried about spoilers and you still haven't seen the film [ __ ] you that's what I think all right fine like it's that important that you can't listen to spoilers you should have seen it already all F not only that I don't want people who aren't Star Wars fans listening to this podcast I'm sorry I just don't you're not welcome here all right so at the end of the film they all die and apparently when they first pitched the idea and the first version of the screenplay they didn't all die they uh survived and because they

thought Disney would say no you can't kill them all except apparently Kathleen Kennedy uh and everyone else at Disney was like I think uh I think these characters didn't survive did they you know they wouldn't they're not in the sequels and then they were like oh oh we assumed we wouldn't be allowed to do that and they're like oh no no no I mean I mean these gu is dead so so that's what the re- shoots were for no no no no no no no they never shot that version uh but originally in the screenplay they survived so no there's there's huge scenes that in the trailers that like where she running along the beach with the the um the plan yeah no I know I I that's true so obviously the ending was different um but apparently they did still die they just died a different way

yes and also uh they thought at some point they were going to say can we add a scene at the end where JY and Cassian are on like another planet or something kind of just chilling out and going oh yeah luckily we survived that let's not get involved anymore like keep keep the blowing up and everything but then just show you know like at the end of um The Dark Knight Rises where Way's in Paris yeah where Alf thinks he sees him yeah and they Alfred's gonna be at a cafe and he's he thinks he sees Jin and c and uh yeah apparently yeah they were waiting for Disney to request that scene to be added and they just never did so but yeah so that raises more questions because yeah like we said we discussed last week uh as you just said

Luke there was a different ending obviously at one point because the footage of it is in the trailer in fact there's a ton of footage in the trailers that's not in the film so yeah what was the original ending and I wonder if on the on the DVD can I give you my theory yeah please based on uh based on some stuff that you just told me I think what happened is right they start they decided to play it safe when they wrote the screenplay then Kathy Kennedy was like no no no guys you don't need to play this safe I mean they all die we know that just make them all die and they were like all right well this is going to be a dark [ __ ] movie then and then they filmed it and then they showed Kathy again and she was like guys no no no no no I didn't mean they all

get brutally [ __ ] maimed to death I meant they can just die so go back and refilm these scenes with less blood right right and yeah I think they pushed it too far because maybe that's why we get this because I I I've said I think I said last week krennics end is all kind of wishy-washy you know cting shoots he falls down and then the he gets killed when the the Death Star shoots I thought that was a bit of a shitty end it was not you know I thought he was going to be cooler you know yeah um he just kind of went out like with nothing and then uh and then yeah they have a little hug which was stupid anyway why would why were they suddenly best friends yeah I don't know that felt a bit forced to me yeah yeah so just so you guys know if if
