“Game 2: Rogue One”: Rogue One Review & Westworld

welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt it's all bit hearty so I don't really understand it Luke is that a little sashwat penis Dan I accidentally got soap in my urethra multiple nerdgasm your guide do all things nerdly so uh guess what I'm doing something not involving your pants I assume correct well actually this is actually going to make it sound even worse I recording this podcast one-handed this [Laughter] week okay let moving on no why I um May fractured my wrist a little ah there's still not 100% sure so

I I know vaguely how that happened in that I know what you would doing in general at the time do you want to talk us through uh how you injured yourself for some stupid reason I decided to go Outdoors uh and play a sport first mistake two mistakes one of the most vicious contact Sports there is Cricket right so um for those American listeners that we have Cricket is like baseball except slower yes yeah and I just fell over can I ask uh what position you were currently playing while you fell over well [ __ ] I don't know what positions there are I was filing and I had explained to everyone I was with I don't run uhhuh uhhuh I can't run so yeah you're physically not able to run yeah

if the ball's more than a meter away I'm not getting it uhhuh that's the spirit of cricket go on I still managed to fall over they should have put you as the Wicket keeper oh the wickets was that an Ewok reference I will not be making that mistake again so you fractured your your wrist yes well they're not sure they've sent me for a couple of scans and they're saying maybe it is maybe it's not they're doing the wait and see okay wait and see what because surely an x-ray can just tell you immediately if something's broken well they saw something but they're not quite sure your arm right was it a fracture that they saw they saw I don't know they saw something okay but yeah I have to wait and if it still hurts I

have to go and get a bone scan so they can see if it's starting to heal I love how that's good enough for Luke if I went to the doctor and he and he went something there but I don't know I can see something yeah but I literally don't know if that's a cracked bone or a not cracked bone how about we just wait and see what happens wait and see tell you what let's wait a couple of weeks and then scan you again see if you're healing the first part about all of this malpractice it actually hurts to hold a controller oh no right so I would say it probably is fractured then although I'm not a doctor but then again neither does this guy clear it's it's only been like this for since Tuesday

night well so you got a little sling on it I haven't held a sweet controller in my hand for about 5 weeks yeah actually I I haven't either I've been back for almost a week now but I haven't just haven't had time but I haven't yeah I haven't even turned the Xbox on yeah you've been traveling uh Across America uhhuh Jack kowak style yeah literally drove all the way across yep yeah that's a long drive I'll tell you that how was that it's good yeah it's good had a great time did you ever get tempted when you got to the coast uh San Francisco I believe right uhuh yep did you ever get tempted to just keep going and have a have a bit of a look at Russia or even come and visit me we well the car is pretty nice but I don't know if

it's James Bond style submarine car nice right so I didn't want to test that out right I can understand that yeah so that car was your car hotel but not necessarily your submarine yeah correct yeah and also uh less of a hotel than we had intended originally because there have been quite a lot of subzero temperatures here the last month and um after a couple of time we did we slept in the car a couple times when we could but uh it was actually just too cold in uh some spots you probably picked a bad time of year to do it yeah but it's the kind of the only time we were going to have so you know we just went with it and you know it was it was good we saw a bunch of cool stuff drove up and uh parked outside George Lucas's house which is uh oh not not creepy at all no

no no no I mean I'm sure he's used to it uh I can't see a whole lot of stuff from the front gate in case you're wondering but probably the point isn't it yeah I'm pretty sure that's why the front gate is so far from the main house I mean they wouldn't put the front gate like say adjacent to his bedroom door he just sat in there eating salad there's people staring the window at him H money salad but yeah so that was that was fun well at the uh the boys back in penth will be happy to hear that you um for your honeymoon you took your uh you took your new wife on a drive and slept in the car great and then on the way back we drove through Tennessee and just the other day I saw this the first

time I've seen this apparently it's not uncommon here I'd never seen this before uh I was overtaking a gentleman in a Jeep and I noticed he had strapped to the front of his car on the Bonnet two dead deer that he shot on the highway just strapped I thought you were going to say truck nuts but that was way worse well how else is she going to get them home you know fair point and I said I mentioned that uh and then people went oh yeah that happens like oh well I'll tell you this Matt we've got at least one listener and you know who you are who's listening right now going yep nothing wrong with that oh yeah absolutely I just uh yeah it was just uh something I hadn't seen before so it made me D do a double take on the highway as I went past cuz I could see

the legs working the side and I was like has this guy hit a deer and just been like ah [ __ ] it like a [ __ ] it leave it there I mean we saw deer when uh when I was over there visiting you we saw some beautiful deer out in a in a field uh basking in the Autumn duw but what what I I thought a lot of things when I was looking at them basking in their Majesty but what I didn't think was I'm going to [ __ ] kill you but to own I saw a lot of them on the side of the road uh sadly killed by vehicles and actually I thought you know what if I can make it through this whole trip without hitting a deer that'll be pretty great cuz they're everywhere and uh did you do it yep not a not a single fatality or or even injury I should clarify didn't hit

one at all no none of them actually died that's right some of them were maimed has anyone actually eaten deer no I can't afford it cuz they hunt it to eat it don't they it's too deer yeah they do uh I believe they do I've never had it I had a bison burger a little while ago bison yeah man Jesus that's the manliest burger there is yeah it's pretty good e the [ __ ] bison big cows yeah yeah yeah yeah they're just North American cows oh I'm sorry just not not impressed by a cow are you really Cow Speaking of big impressive animals right some fing czy [ __ ] where I am right now I thought I was looking at a bird flying in the the other day until it went into

a flower and I realized it was a [ __ ] bee about the size of a CA battery what [ __ ] that yeah do they sting [ __ ] petrifying I don't know man so it's one of those bees from King Kong yes yes or Mr doie from uh room he's retired move to the Philippines [ __ ] Mr dooie also doobie right anyone else just realizing that eism because he's he's not into inter special sex is that what you're getting at just only do bees what Matt's not a pot smoker obviously no he's not know what he thinks we're talking about oh I see what you I see where you going with

that yeah my mind still trying to work out where you're going my moment somewhere else well he does [Laughter] bees that's all I'm saying yeah y well all right so if uh if you're tuning in because you want to hear us talking about Rogue one uh you're in luck but if you're com if you're tuning in because you don't want to hear about Rogue one cuz for some reason you like this podcast for reasons other than Your Love of Star Wars when you're also in luck because we're going to talk about other stuff first yeah we'll give you plenty of warning so you can turn off if you don't want to hear spoilers yeah so we're going to leave it till you know about halfway through because we're I assume we're going to talk about it

for a bit so uh what I'd like to do I've don't have much to say about it but I do want to say one thing to everyone who's our listeners who haven't seen it yet I'm very disappointed in you you should have seen this movie by what I want to do cuz we've had some some complaints they are complaints in the past that um what we've done is out spoilers well no because what we'll do is we'll be very careful one episode and then after that we're like well we already talked about the spoilers so all bets are off and then we've kind of been a bit sloppy about I stick by that so if you avoid the spoilers this week don't tune in next week because all bets are off we we will try and be more careful about in future cuz I don't want want people to you know to not be able to

listen to the show or whatever because they're worried about it um but then I was thinking about it and I'm like at what point can we talk about stuff because for example and I'm not going to say what it is but there's some some kind of behind the sceny stuff to do with Rogue one um that we want to talk about and but then if if stuff gets updated kind of next next week they announce something and are we not allowed to talk about it because you know they they involve spoilers and I'm being super vague which is annoying because again I don't want to talk about spoilers but you've got a weak people yeah I'm with Luke on this one mhm okay like if it's that important and they want to see it I mean where does it end you you can't just have spoilers

last forever I can't be like hey guys there was this great um silent film made in the 1910s and you're like whoa whoa spoilers yeah yeah no I know what you mean and also episode 4 is also a giant spoiler for rogue one just quietly yeah in fact just the opening crawl exactly it tells you you need to know but um yeah but no we we this episode we'll warn you before we talk about spars and you know what I'm just going to say one more thing about this but doesn't giving anything away but I'm glad George Lucas isn't still a part of this because you can guarantee that now that they've made Rogue one he would want to update that opening crawl with some new information it's very specific stuff yeah yeah he name check everybody yeah or he' just change it and then say

I was always like that like and it just wouldn't match anymore yeah that's right yeah for for no reason but enough about Star Wars cuz there'll be a lot more of it later yeah I like this reality television mhm mhm there's a show coming out soon or about to be filmed in Russia where in the rules it's okay to rape and murder people sure okay right is raping and murdering the point of the show or well it's just they're setting all these contest contestants out in the wilderness and whoever survives there for 9 months wins whoever survives the rapes and the murders well it's it's weirder than that right cuz it's called game to Winter is the show which is a weird name for a show I mean that's

that's not the weirdest thing about this but it is weird name well this is probably the second game show they've had in Russia this game game two colon Winter game one summer I guess but it says contestants will each sign a waiver acknowledging that they might be raped or killed but the rules also state that the police are free to arrest anyone who commits a crime well of course they are like yeah and oh he's got to say it says in the rules yeah but no it said like they had to put this in the rules you must understand that the police will come and take you away we in the territory of Russia and you must obey the laws of the Russian Federation [ __ ] who who doesn't realize that on TV I can do whatever I want what I love about this though is that yeah at what

point of the the cops going oh sorry the the laws the rules of a game show supersede the laws of this country you're in a sovereign television show now one thing that gets me is the advert for it which goes 2,000 cameras 900 hectares and 30 lives everything is allowed fighting alcohol murder rape smoking anything of smoking sort of comes off the murder yeah it's like my mom wrote this list yeah murder rap smoking heavy metal not doing his homework although you must understand if you don't do your homework the police will come and arrest you yeah your mom will come and drag you off yeah now this is uh I said this such a weird thing to point out did they normally is it up to the reality television show

to prevent crimes normally or do they still use the police for that like when they film say prevent crime I think probably does come down to those directly involved so say if you're watching my cat from hell and Jackson Galaxy gets a bit out of hand tries to murder somebody is Jackson Galaxy a cat Jackson Galaxy is a um he's a cat behavioral uh guy okay cat behaviorist you have uh you have lapsed into new territory my friend you never seen my cat from hell no it's my new favorite show well it's not my new favorite show it's just I couldn't watch it much in Australia but there was a big marathon on the other day which is why it sprung to mind but he goes around and um helps people get their cats sorted out you know a that's good the cat's misbehaving he helps out

it's a great show that's the one thing it's going to be slightly different because there's no camera crew here oh 2,000 hidden cameras yes so it's like big brother I mean answer your question m i I'm actually currently working on a reality TV show right yeah um and I think if if any of the contestants were raping one another um I feel I probably would step in uh and not just not just say this is a job for the police honestly this goes uh that goes well above and beyond my my duty as the Director of this show that's right my job is to film this yeah yeah unless I didn't want raping in the scene in which case I would call cut all right it just seems like a really strange things to point out in the rules in the advert

like Could Happen yeah it's sort of like they they're wanting it to happen well they are obviously they're trying to cash in on the pois the well isn't it yeah yeah but I mean really this could be any television show or is it just that they're going to like you know if this was another show they might cut that stuff out and try and pretend it never happened where in this one they're saying if it happens we'll show you you know like because I'm sure this I mean this could happen on Survivor or I don't know we saw someone get turkey slapped on Big Brother one year oh she thinking that that was a huge thing yeah but they don't go into the house going you might be raped and murdered like it is a possibility that can happen everywhere anywhere but you don't go into the house

thinking that imagine that was in the contract of Big Brother he'd be like sorry and they're like no no no no don't get me wrong we don't want that to happen and if it does happen the Poli will be called but you've just got to be aware that it might happen yeah for those interested in this new uh game two from Russia the show promises to be International five countries uh have already expressed the desire to broadcast it apparently 60 people have applied to be on the show including an American man it says something about you I think a little bit if you've never applied for one of these shows before and then they go this one's going to allow rape and murder yeah I'll have a go yeah yeah that's right yeah I and I could do quite well at this see the

murder actually makes sense a little bit because what happens with this whoever's there at the end of the N months they split the prize Mar I was going to say it depends on what the point of the show is if it's like whoever survives yeah guess murdering people make sense but like yeah yeah yeah if it's Battle Royale yeah no it's if they hit the button a helicopter comes in takes them out and they're out of the game text them out yeah oh I see so they're supposed to terrorize each other into quitting okay well that is different I guess you know what I'm gonna I'm going to bet not a lot of women apply to me in this show yeah yeah because and and I bet it's a whole bunch of rapists standing around going a well we're going to have to rape each other now exactly

in fact I hope that's what it is yeah and then they just changed the name to rapist Island six rapists are put on an island escape from rape Island that's what I would call it yeah yeah or don't escape oh yeah exactly otherwise you'll lose hopefully you're you're sticking around for the Rogue one we're really really testing our audience here we're really making them work for it all right well how about we talk about something a bit more cheerful especially for Luke somebody's discovered Luke's dream job yeah they really have because a drinks company in Europe are looking for what they're calling a gin turn which is an intern who tastes gin for them just taste it I I could do that yeah you travel around

Europe and you just drink a bunch of Gins in different European countries report back H doesn't pay wasted he I got wasted here I threw up over there £20,000 a year which is not a huge amount but I mean you know it's above minimum wage I guess yeah and your job is to drink Jin well the thing to look at with the 20,000 is they're flying me around that they're going to be paying for my accommodation and stuff boo yeah that's right yeah and drinking and I don't need to worry about food then yeah cuz that's like 50% of your budget yeah yeah yeah unfortunately you're up against 4,000 other applicants only 4,000 wow well they shut they shut down applications cuz they went Ah that's too many yeah yeah that's right so they're going to restart the process in early

201 so you're not out of it yet I must look into this I could do this job now can you yeah not that I doubt your abilities Luke but are you able to give a good gin review you know like what what okay that's that was I suspected that might be the case cuz you kind of just and that might even be their first question so maybe you need to think about it long and hard before you apply no just be honest I'm good at drinking the Gin uhhuh mhm professional and I think that's the main point like drink well I'm sure that's part of it and maybe there's on the job training I can tell I can tell you gin I like like they just send you around Europe and you come back and they're like what did you discover and you're like what what did you what did you find out

uh I got very drunk yeah I really like Jin yeah yeah when's the next trip do I get holidays now or the sick leave though would be crazy over hair of the dog Luke hair of the dog is that a saying anywhere except Australia people going to be like what the [ __ ] is Matt talking about well it was in one of the Monkey Island games oh right yeah Fair Point remember you actually had to take hair from a dog to bit you y so I assume at least somewhere in Silicon Valley it's also a saying yeah but it may only be those two places all right cool can I ask a question

actually I just remembered that I was supposed been asked to check this with Luke uh okay actually you've both been to Japan yes I can ask both of you how on in on a Japanese toilet you know you know the fancy ones you guys both used a fancy Japanese toilet with all the buttons and [ __ ] I most certainly did how does the water bit work the bit that sprays you how does that work you push a button and then you push buttons to do the angle and how powerful it is and you let it do it thing and it uh sprays your butt also water pressure water temperature mhm okay amazing right and then yeah you know does it have like a blow dryer in there as well or you got to kind of handle that yes it does Matt yes it does it does y yeah yeah all right now don't get me wrong Matt I've

been on uh Asian toilets that also have the jet but that has no controls over speed temperature etc etc and drawing is up to you but yes the ones in Japan the ones that will sing to you if you want during um all right they have all of that what do they sing Everything in Japan is a karaoke machine but no I'm actually when I when I buy my own house that's the first thing that's going in a Japanese toilet right yeah they're pretty good pretty good I mean not not to not to head into the toilet or anything but does does that mean you you're not you know you still have to give a bit of a wipe or no need me really that's the thing about it yeah if you going to have a shower if you if you're going to clean yourself right at the end of the day would you

wipe yourself down with a piece of paper or would you get into the shower hm yeah no fair enough yeah it did take me a little while to trust it though yeah it's a leap it's a leap of faith isn't it cuz you did have to cuz it asked you to sign a contract that said you might be raped or murdered we were curious about that because you've got to go to Japan you [ __ ] love Japan yeah I know I really want to absolutely love Japan I'm going to go back well I'm going back next year for work I'm going to Singapore next year you are really you you you get to come see me thinking around May yeah I'll be there I'll be there L well you you might not be but I will need you if you are going to come to Singapore

though I will need you to sign a contract to say that you know that you will be raped or murdered or both yeah yeah one of the two yeah thinking around May good look out for cheap flights I'll take you to the bar behind the bookcase sounds great don't go look it's a trap uh something else that happened uh while I was away that I know you can now download stuff on Netflix forgot to add this to the spreadsheet but uh you guys noticed that um they came out and I looked at at the first day dat announc it and there was sort of nothing yeah but now some stuff now it's starting to build up that Library oh wait so you can't just download whatever you want I thought that you meant that

it's just an offline mode no there is except it's not for everything yet yeah so like uh you they actually have a section for it now I guess you click on it says if you want to download stuff click here and it gives you a list of all the stuff that you can download it's it's quite a lot of stuff quite big now okay well that's pretty cool I guess they've just enough planes that that would benefit me yeah right and uh and because we we you know traveling around when we had Wi-Fi we were able to download some stuff and then you know have it available cuz that's one of the well not complaint that I had because Netflix is pretty great anyway but it's a a feature that Iain about was hoping they would implement yeah I'm surprised they got it

cuz to me that would be like a completely different licensing thing yeah I was actually surprised cuz I I didn't know I didn't even know it was coming cuz I hadn't been checking the news and stuff and then I just opened the app and it said you can download stuff and I was like oh my God that's awesome loving it yeah mean I guess you could watch something over and over again anyway so what's the difference well it's actually quite good for me because I fall asleep listening to television shows yeah right so instead of streaming them every night I can download the ones I fall asleep to and just play them yeah speaking of shows although not one that's on Netflix have you guys watched Westworld no I've watched [ __ ] hell

I've watched like uh four episodes before we left and I haven't had a chance to watch the rest I know the Ser The Season's finished so it has yeah I'm gonna watch it [ __ ] me watch it all the second season's already been announced but that's not coming out to like 2018 correct they're going to take an entire year to write and produce it wow that's cool yeah imagine that we want you to do it straight away n we're taking our time good yeah there's a lot of nudity and sex scenes in this show isn't there oh like a lot oh yeah no I mean not a stupid amount and it all works you know it's a place where you can do whatever you want it's kind of like uh game two winter yeah right so you know there's going to be violence there's going to be sex

there's G to be smoking it's Jonathan Nolan writing it right yeah it is and it's [ __ ] amazing yeah yeah the f I watched yeah like four or five episodes and it was great but then we we left and uh we don't have HBO in a format that I could watch it on the road so yeah no I'm going to start watching I just finished watching Ash versus evil dead ah see I got season I got to finish that oh is the second season complete second season's done then you have to watch it and then we have to discuss the second episode oh yeah all right I'll download it after this yeah I'll try and watch the rest of it uh this week um speaking of Nolan uh did you guys watch the Dunkirk trailer yeah I did but it was before

Rogue one actually I think maybe you didn't have a choice Luke maybe you've seen it no I didn't see it oh okay no I didn't see it I a little underwhelmed by it to be honest I'm I'm confused why this is a Nolan movie yeah and I'm trying to work out whether there's some kind of fourth-dimensional or Supernatural element to this that I've missed yeah and and and also I mean I mean I guess I kind of know what it's about cuz it's called Dunkirk but the trailer doesn't I mean it doesn't tell you anything about what the film's about at all really it was it was just a bunch of and I know it's just an early teaser and D Kirk isn't it it's about the Battle of dun Kirk oh yeah no I know that but but I don't know anything about the

characters or kind you know like other than that but I knew I already knew unless it's straight up history what the [ __ ] is it yeah exactly like I'm sure there's going to be more of an intimate aspect to it like we're going to get to know some characters and otherwise that's weird if if it's not that why would he yeah what if it's not it's just a bunch of disconnected scenes that took place during the [ __ ] Battle of dun but yeah yeah yeah yeah I don't know it's just a underwhelming trailer so although speaking of World War II I just watched The Man in the High Castle ah I gotta watch that too that's on Amazon right yeah you do yeah and look I'll say this right great concept great

production great cast great acting mediocre script really yeah I mean it's one of those ones where it's a bit down characters always say what they mean you know right H people talk about the plot so that you can follow yeah okay so it's it's it's disappointingly broad but that said didn't stop me from really enjoying it okay and the worst part about it was right for those of you who don't know it's about a future no it's not a future set in the 60s an alterity it's about an alternative reality where um the a Powers won World War II instead of the allies and America has been divided up into um half belonging to the German Reich and half belonging to the Japanese empire and um you know as a as a white man right you do watch this and

go well I'd be fine right you know what I mean I mean everyone else is [ __ ] but like providing I was on the right half of the United States the white guys are getting it pretty good yeah right so you're saying no I'm not saying anything that I'm not saying anything all right other than so you it's not it's bit of a wish fulfillment for you this show you know it's a taste it's a taste of what could have been what could have been oh God coming up Rogue one before we do that we should do that soon because I guess we're going to be talking about it for a while but uh something I have been watching I've never watched it before uh but I'm trying to get through it because there's

there's a new season of it is Gilmore Girls yeah I'll tell you right now watched it she enjoyed it but it's not for me I mean look the writing's not bad in Gilmore Girls I'll give it that I've seen a couple of seasons of it I couldn't make my way all through to the end but I'm surprised by how many people see I I I was aware that it was a show but I didn't know anything about it and I assumed it was not for me but the number of people that I know who said oh yeah that's a really good show I was like oh all right and uh it's produced by Jane espenson from Buffy it's got some Buffy people in it uh and it's got yeah the writing's good and you know I'm enjoying it so yeah I'm trying to get through all the originals so I can watch the new one and then uh but yeah it's yeah

everyone I know who's seen the the new one uh thought it was garbage so don't hopes up and also expect your interest to to just slowly wean as it as the series go along because they did a lot of series of this show yeah no we're up to season five I think now yeah I've never watched it on purpose no but yeah if I'll sit there I'll watch it okay yeah I'm enjoying it James gun's Brothers isn't it yes he is he's actually of my favorite characters in it have you seen the uh the episode where he makes a short film yes it's amazing yeah that's that's the best episode it's very funny yeah yeah he's he's great in it I love how uh he originally was just like an extra and he played like random roles for the first

like half a season and then all of a sudden just became like a main character and then but they continued the joke like he just does every job in town like he works in every shop like every time they go into a shop K's there it's very funny that's those kind of things I like about it should we talk about what the people want to hear let's do it okay this is everyone's final chance if you don't want to hear spoilers about Star Wars Rog one yeah oh hang on before we do that should we tell them okay no spoilers first and if you don't want to hear anything turn off now but what did you think of it overall did you like it I thought it was brilliant mhm mhm I agree yeah I [ __ ] loved it all right cool y so there you go thumbs up from

about how many people at work actually said this and I went I've spoken to you about Star Wars before I didn't think you're an idiot well look I just want to say one thing um that I'm really proud of and that's that I saw it before either of you so yeah you did I saw the last man it's painful having to wait here like every movie now comes out like a week later here that's cuz you moved to the past but not how it used to be it used to be the opposite your release days are a Friday aren't they uh no no it's still the same day it's just that we get that day first no well no not only that um Australia does now for some reason get them first like the force awakens we we saw it a week before anybody here like it it literally came out a week before

in Australia for some reason this one's not as bad like I think it came out like a day or two beforehand and I think yeah maybe that's just the time difference Thursday right we got it Friday you're right it was Friday on Tuesday shut up well I thing is the other thing is too and I'm I got accustomed to being invited to see movies before everybody else got to see them and now that's gone away and I don't like it CU it used to be that I didn't have to worry about avoiding the spoilers cuz I was the one giving him out but now yeah how did you guys see this movie did you guys see this 2D 3D 2D 3D IMAX I just went 2D 2D in the fancy Cinema so I had to reclin chair and they brought me drinks did they bring you a blanket no blanket I just went to the

normal Cinema here at the mall cuz that's what was available to me and 2D for you as well yeah I don't like 3D I don't like it I would I wouldn't have seen 3D if I could I saw this movie in IMAX 3D two things I don't give a [ __ ] about in fact would rather not have and either this was the best use of 3D that I've ever come across or this movie is so good that it didn't matter right uh I'm looking forward to seeing it again in only 2D but uh as opposed to something like say The Hobbit where I was constantly just looking at the dimensionalization of it yeah this one just played out like a regular story just with the bit of depth bit of stuff being further away yeah or at times closer actually no I don't think anything was closer that's probably why it was okay well that's cuz

it's distracting stupid yeah it is and I can see 3D working if it is you just that further away not to bring stuff in front of your face thing is right I get I get the idea is it supposed to feel like you're there but films don't feel like you're there they're not supposed to because you cutting from different angles and I'm happy we sent all these people away because of our spoilers yeah now we're just talking about how much we hate 3D yeah all right fine I don't like 3D so I watched it in 2D all right so the big thing that was different with this one no opening crawl yeah and can I say this is actually there are very few things that I disliked about it uh or that didn't work for me agre one of them was the music a little bit didn't work for

me and uh it didn't have the Star Wars music going to ask you yeah I was going to ask you to comment on that it had a couple of variations on the well-known themes specifically the Darth V theme some of the yeah some of the classics were still there but I felt like there was stuff that was similar to the original stuff but like they changed it a bit and it felt like you know when you go like like say it was a TV commercial that was like sit in a Star Wars style world and but they didn't want to infringe copyright so the music was just in the style of different kind of well did I don't John Williams didn't do this did he no no this was the guy who does JJ abrams's movies all of them ironically except for the force awakens but he did um he did Jurassic world as

well I believe michaelo but and Jurassic world kept a lot of John Williams notes like notes like not musical notes I mean like the things and stuff ones that he owns notes that he owns maybe he wouldn't give him the Star Wars notes that's why he had to go flat or sharp on every note because he wasn't allowed to use them but I don't know it one in particular stood out if he went flat or sharp on every note it would be the same I mean this isn't really fair to him like he shouldn't have just copied John Williams I suppose but there was some spots in particular like when they're on Yavin 4 and the music was kind of the same as the music from A New Hope but it was like a little bit different and it just like I said it felt like we're not allowed to use the

music from from the original y for so here's it here's it with a couple of notes changed I don't know it was weird but I even thought like the music for episode 7 wasn't that great either really I I really like the music in episode 7 they felt like Star Wars music cuz that's the other thing like the even the prequels which there's so much stuff about them that I ha music was the best thing about the exactly it's the music is incredible and it annoys me sometimes when I listen to the music I'm like oh man this could have been could have been so yeah could have been could have been amazing but yeah I don't know it was a I thought the music was a little underwhelming okay now I have to talk about the start of the movie mhm I'm

just I find a little stuss and I have a few reasoned why that jy's father was hiding from the Empire how young was his wife what why would you say that why would cuz she looks very young to me and he's this older guy now she looks young now now jid was about six maybe seven so I don't felt cepy that this older guy with this young girl and yeah hiding out how old do you think mads mikkelson is how old is he he's a little bit older than us I'd say he's just weathered yeah but I had like the her mother being about 20 oh really you're I'll be honest I didn't notice because I that didn't even cross my mind too busy looking at the Star Wars movie number one MZ melson is 50 right number

two Luke um it is perfectly legal to sleep with a 20-year-old right no no no no she's 20 with a seveny old right I can't even I can't even remember what she looked like you know what I'm gonna Rog one who is the actress that played her mother and I'm going to see how old she is and I'm going to have to edit this today so I'm going to be annoyed at myself for Kane oh she was born in 1987 he was born in 1965 I mean I that's a that's a consider considerable difference I suppose there you go [ __ ] lucky Luke's out there looking out for these young women so you think that's why the empire was after him there's a book uh that I haven't read but I know that there is a book that precedes Rogan that

explains uh all about it's catalst I believe it explains why gallon is uh on the but they kind of explained it in the film yeah there was some flashbacks that was just me being a little silly no I know I know hanging out he give him the benefit of the doubt yeah something else okay one other thing that I didn't didn't quite work for me yeah was uh I don't like how in this Stormtroopers can take a kick to the helmet and just get knocked unconscious that annoyed me a bit yeah that that's always thing though like why do they wear the armor if one heit goat kills them still I know well it doesn't it doesn't stop [ __ ] stick it doesn't stop kicks it doesn't stop blasy doesn't do anything it just makes it hard for

him to walk around and see I know and then I know uh for the for the Star Wars trivia I know Jenna looked into this a bit because for some reason it came up and I I think somebody somewhere has come up with it the answer which is they environmental suits they're not it's not armor they're not fur no I see interesting but then so maybe that's how they get around it even with um episode 7 he says it won't keep out gas the helmet gas you're right yeah and plus you see him just take the helmet off I mean he doesn't have to detach it from from the neck yeah it's just on there it's just a helmet well I don't know what they do then it's just for show they don't do anything exactly it's just a uniform yeah so that annoyed me a bit

just because I don't know I I liked uh whatever the you know the the force guy the the guardian of the wills guy the blind guy uh I liked his character but I did I don't know it was a little goofy for me a little too goofy see I I liked his character because it that that actually cons segue into what I liked about this film in general right which was that it took Concepts two-dimensional Concepts from the original trilogy and expanded them into much more complex stories like the force absolutely do only Jedi use the force uhhuh up until now the answer has been yes now we've seen a guy who isn't a Jedi still believe in the force and try to use it that's interesting yeah

with limited success but still some success yeah that's right yeah it's cool I loved it when they put the [ __ ] hood on him the the bag over his head are you serious I'm blind so yeah some good on Liners in this no I thought I thought Don Yan was was was great actually I thought he was no no I really enjoyed him in every other aspect I just I thought the some of the fight scenes just because like I said they're in armor and he's like flacking him with a stick and then they get knocked unconscious I was like yeah I mean I'll it's fine it's just a little goofy yeah it's borderline it's one of those things you have to except the good with the bad and just you can't but you forgive it for some reason what about K2 did he work for you um [ __ ] loved him yeah he

grew on me he might be my favorite Droid now [ __ ] I know did you know that that wasn't me to begin with I was a bit air but then he really grew on me throughout the movie yeah so good I thought he was very funny I like one of my favorite lines in the whole film was when he um I've already said that about the other line too I had a lot of favorite lines in this yeah you can have a lot of favorites it's a [ __ ] great movie when they're talking about getting through the shield and what happens if the shield closes oh then we'll slowly suffocate and die in the dark vacuum of space not me I can survive in space [ __ ] great yeah oh yeah and also that bit I'm with you Jin uro yeah Cass

told yeah so good yeah he's great good character so I'm going to say really controversial right oh [ __ ] there's something that I didn't quite like about this movie that I'm sure everybody else [ __ ] loved and I'm hoping to see it again and perhaps a second viewing where my expectations are already set will temper my feelings of it and perhaps to seeing it in only two Dimensions will change it again I didn't like the CGI characters oh I didn't either they were fine they were serviceable but but it's I feel like they're not we're not there yet and they were very noticeable for Princess Leia I thought it was fine cuz it's just

one scene at the end yeah but for grof T played a major role in it it just it took me out of it it's very impressive I actually yeah it's impressive but find an actor that looks like him and enhance with 3D don't have a total I mean it's it was like Ben Mendelson was talking to a cartoon half the time yeah and it was a very good cartoon but maybe it looked better in 2D because like it was noticeable sometimes but there were other times like when he first showed up I actually like out loud went oh my God yeah right like [ __ ] blew my mind look I'm hoping it is pet Cushing is in this yeah yeah Peter Cushing is back from the dead if he was going to come back for anything this would be it yeah also he's

got a bigger role than any other Star Wars film he was in that's right he's in this more than he was in [ __ ] A New Hope probably he wasn't in that that much neither was Vader to be honest well Vader wasn't in this much either no I'm saying but he wasn't in a new hope that much either like one thing I didn't like about the Vader being in it mhm was when they walked in and he was he was in the the the tank and you saw that he was missing his arms and he's I'm sort of like I don't know what that gave me oh I love that I felt like that whole scene was a little weird because it felt I don't know it was fine and I enjoyed it for what it was but also [ __ ] kinic flew all the way there for this meeting and then Vader was just like get your [ __ ] together and

like that was it like and how long did Vader spend thinking about that pun he's like I got to get a choke pun in here yeah how am I GNA get it in there yeah but it was like one of those Nazi generals like Geral that's got his own [ __ ] Austrian castle that he just hangs out in you know I I thought that rounded off Vader what I didn't like about Vader was that scene where his [ __ ] baseball all the [ __ ] I thought we were going to get through an entire Star Wars film without seeing a lightsaber right and I was actually excited about that because I'm like this one's not about Jedi it's not about a [ __ ] Skywalker you know what I mean they even say that these are old weapons from a long time ago like it' be like a cop having a

sword but then they still shoved it in there so yeah I don't know I a little forced for me I liked it cuz I liked the way cuz we've never seen him do that really yeah but they say that he does it and so it was nice to kind of see it and also cuz people talk about how vad is a badass in the comics and stuff like that and every time I've I've seen that people go oh here's a you know a section from the comics of Vader being a badass and it's stupid like there's like a million soldiers and he's like doing back flips like Yoda in [ __ ] episode two and yeah and and I'm like no that's he's exactly I like the way they did it in this where he's just this lumbering powerful [ __ ] badass like I thought it it looked like what I imagined Vader would look like slowly

walking in just wrecking everyone's [ __ ] yeah just like but don't forget right if this takes place literally minutes before A New Hope then it's only a couple of days where he's fighting Obi-Wan like a [ __ ] old man that can barely hold his sword sure like that's that's the great thing about the the sword fight in a new every complains yeah but no but that's why it's so good it's the fact that this is not just two [ __ ] back flipping you know Musketeers this is two old adversaries fighting each other for the last time um and and if you have a prequel to this where only you know a short time before he's pulling stunts I don't know it kind of diminishes that for me I thought it was too much for me I thought it was too much I didn't

really see him pulling stunts though very much was just a slowly walking forward killing everyone in front of him with the [ __ ] reflexes [ __ ] Fox man watch fight obiwan again right and tell me that's the same dude I no that wasn't that you can't compare it unfortunately any more than you can compare Yoda getting to 870 years old and still being able to back flip and then when as soon as he turns 900 that's it he's old okay remember the prequels don't exist well I would have thought so too [ __ ] Jimmy Smith rocks up yeah see that can we talk about that too actually I I but I like the way they handled that in this sort of because it's kind of like they pretended that well they made it so that if you want to pretend some

of the shitty stuff about the prequels doesn't exist you can do that here and it's fine I mean Jimmy Smith is here he's borana he was fine yeah but also who's Vader we don't not going to show his face like maybe it's Hayden Christensen maybe it's [ __ ] Sebastian Shaw it's whoever you want it to be Sebastian Shaw imagine that [ __ ] He's back from the dead that's right they've cged Sebastian Shaw back into this did anyone else think I don't know maybe it was just me because no one else I've Googled and no one else seems to think this but and I know it was James old Jones but his voice sounded weird to me this they' gotten in impersonator to do it and I actually thought is this the best James L Jones person impersonator they could find and it turns out it was

didn't sound right yeah it didn't sound right to me no it didn't sound right to me I mean obviously he's he he's older now but he was he did the voice in the prequels and it sounded yeah now the prequels I thought were was terrible the voice really yeah I thought his voice was terrible in the prequels H I thought the see maybe I just thought it was the dialogue in the pre his dialogue in the PRI was atrocious he would like that whole scene was so cringeworthy maybe he also does the voice of Vader in the Star Wars Rebels series does he yeah he does I actually honestly thought that his voice was better now than it was in the prequels okay and it might be because he's doing Rebels he's had a bit more practice of it speaking as himself he's doing Vader's voice even better

than he did it in a New Hope yeah I thought that was weird and I've already said that seemed seemed a little out of place actually can I can I mention something else just speaking of the spin-off cartoon series right yeah Forest Whitaker's character saw Guerrera yeah yeah to me that was another one of those Jimmy Smith's moments where it's like oh yeah yeah a character that you know from uh the Clone Wars is in this so okay that ties in because I thought he stuck out like a sore thumb really I see I didn't notice one thing I did like about that character was the fact that he was using the breathing apparatus that Vader uses yeah that was inter sort of like yeah it's not just Vader this is just a medical device that's out

there can we in general I felt like this did a a really good job of making it feel like Star Wars especially well what not like the old Star Wars movies what I wanted Star Wars to be like it felt like exactly you know like uh like the video games like dark Forces and and what I imagined it like in the books and like for example at the start when cians on that planet you know we shoots the guy and all that stuff at the very beginning when he finds out that there's the message the yeah kind of Blade runner-esque planet that he's on like that's what I wanted Star Wars to be absolutely [ __ ] [ __ ] nailed it yeah and they really made it they made sense of the Empire and the rebels in this in a way that no other Star Wars

movie has done like we've heard about the Rebel Alliance that's just what they called but what is oh okay it is an alliance between separate autonomous groups of rebels yeah yeah right that that that are doing their own thing and rebelling in their own sectors but have come together to align to fight the Empire who we've already seen better than in any other film is an occupying Force you know what I mean like like the Nazis or even more so like the Roman Empire you know like they've come in they're occupying they're letting the you know the local people still have their own little cultures and and governments and everything but ultimately they're in charge and I thought that was really clear in this where do you rank this I

know [ __ ] high man [ __ ] high yeah see and and It's tricky because I was thinking about it I'm like well I've only seen it once and I've seen the others and also I mean the originals I've been watching them for [ __ ] yeah 40 30 40 years when I talking about not 40 years old watching them for 30 years um I've been watching him for four years before I was born I watched him in the womb um through the belly Buton obviously higher than the prequels higher than any of the prequels for me uh higher than Return of the Jedi for me and then after that I'm like H I don't know yeah I don't know if I liked it more than Force awakens and and I I think maybe I did but I have to wait because you know Force awakens had all this extra kind of yeah kind excitement and and Nostalgia and stuff

that this one kind of doesn't get cuz we've already had a Star Wars film in the last year you know what I mean for me it's actually below Force awakens because I do want to see Rogue one again but I know I felt more urgent to see Force awakens at the movies again I don't know why right see I'm the opposite but I love Force awakens right and I think that Force awakens has a lot going for it that this doesn't have like yeah I agree um it's in in in terms of just [ __ ] adventure and all of that Force awakens is unbeatable plus Force awakens has kylo Ren which is which is such an interesting Edition yeah as a villain and it's got all of this stuff and I [ __ ] love it but I find force awakens after I saw it I only wanted to see it again so I could enjoy it again

whereas I'm [ __ ] desperate to watch Rog one again because I feel there's so much I missed the first time around I think I just worked out why I like force awakens more it's because of the fact I the characters in The Force awakens I am going to become attached to and see grow whereas in Rogue one that's it they're not coming back spoilers they all died yeah that's it that's a spoiler yeah well they kind of had to and but can we talk about this I put this article in here yeah which I thought was really interesting it's uh on slash film it's to put my I'm have to read man oh you don't have to read you can you can look at the pictures and I can I can kind of explain what they're getting at but remember the original trailer or maybe even two trailers for

rogue one came out before the re-shoot yeah and uh and even like some stuff that's in the trailers the more recent trailers right it's just not in the film I don't know if you noticed I certainly did cuz I've watched the trailers so many times most of what's in the trailers even the dialogue and everything isn't in the film it's different and in particular a lot of the dialogue between jyn and Mon mothma and all and that whole scene apparently is different uh there's no cuz cuz I Rebel or whatever it was right they didn't they didn't talk about her backstory at all in fact except apart from what we already saw on the screen which was that she's galen's daughter and all that kind of thing they took out all the stuff about her being kind of a bad egg like

it's just gone but but that was in the trailer and so they're saying maybe apparently this is allegedly whatever uh her character was more I guess gray uh originally and maybe Disney didn't like that yeah so they went back and they were like okay make it so that she's not such a [ __ ] yeah you know hope a lot more right um but not only that if you look at uh there's there's ACH of stuff in here uh stuff that's not in the film as just individual shots and one in particular you know when she walks out onto the platform to realign the satellite in the film right in the trailer when yeah she's walking out there there's a [ __ ] TIE fighter flies up that didn't happen yeah like what's that about but not only that if you scroll down and look at some of

these other shots that are from the original trailers it's her and Cassian running along the beach with with the plans in her hand right dodging 88 yeah so at some point like the the ending of the film was different yeah because they got out of the facility with the plans and they were running along the beach they still with them so yeah and not only that um in her contract they have the option uh of a sequel which would indicate originally she didn't die H interesting or or at some point well they could still a sequel it wouldn't be new hope they could still go into a backstory about like her growing up

still I don't think they should that's true could do a younger version of it but that's what no I I agree I think I think the the beauty of these Star Wars stories is that they are all stand alone and that they yeah now I think with this with everyone dying at the end they missed a great chance they could have had me crying at the end of this movie I didn't like the way they died I I'm not going to cry they're all dead why would I cry no no I I had them cuz the way they died was a bit oh okay yep it's all gone and the plant are gone and now the world's blowing up around us let's hug we're dying I had more pictured as a we've got to hold them off at this door and a fire fight and stand type of thing do you know what El and just with the way everybody kind

of got knocked off at the end I felt like krennic didn't get much of a a send off kind of thing and um and there's also in the in the original footage and in in behind the scenes shots the sequences of of him down on the beach and stuff like that yeah that's right um so I think maybe I don't know I I just want to see what the original ending was you never will cuz yeah yeah the original enemy has to be completely different yeah whether somebody whether they survived or I don't know I I think it would have been crazy to have them survive though like it yeah well the other thing is too somebody uh Carlo actually from um Carlo from big head mode and um bonus stage pointed out on Facebook that it's it is a little insane that taken was like blow up the

whole facility I guess even though we've got this kind of under control now um yeah cuz they had already taken out most of the fighters that made it through the through the shield um they like they took the plans but that was too late to stop that so let's just destroy all this other stuff we've got stored in the facility and kill thousands of our own it's still their Planet yeah let's kill all of our own soldiers and stuff even though they've already taken out all the Rebels on the on the ground and the plans are already out like yeah it was a little little unnecessary to blow up the whole [ __ ] thing well that's also the other thing when they first tested the Death Star why was it just just blow up that facility why not a blow up that

entire planet because because in a new hope that's the first time they test the full power of the Death Star so they couldn't do it beforehand you got me it's like why did why did taken feel it was necessary to mention that he'd shown the emperor and Vader the Death Star at one point because we see that in episode three so they had to address that but hang on krennic's in charge I we'll just make tarken say that he once presented it to them like cuz I wanted that too in the leadup to it I was like hang on a minute tken shows them the Death Star at the end of episode 3 no that one time that I presented it to them oh why was the Death Star upside down the entire time there's no upside down in space you mean I know but it just it looked wrong no

upside down in space well cuz the the the gun had to point at the planet death star's always the other way around I like in this they um addressed more how the Death Star is able to move around too like it can actually move through hyperspace cuz that was kind of unclear in The Originals cuz it takes a long time to get to Yavin 4 and then into range I guess it just they jumped in outside of the system or whatever you know what I mean yeah whereas in this they just jumped straight in oh I love the be where [ __ ] Vader's death uh Star Destroyer yeah comes in just smashes through a bunch of ships that was pretty cool yeah I like the fact now we also have an explanation as to why there was that exhaust Port there yes exactly right that you know and it seems so obvious

but it's like that's that's a great solution to that potential plot hole that was handled really well like it he designed it like something that's small enough that will go unnoticed by everyone else but it's a big mistake that's right there that can be exploited yeah yeah cuz otherwise it yeah it didn't make much sense I felt like also another bit that I thought was a little redundant and I was surprised that they you know when they get the message right to say go to Scarff and get the plans but then they go to get a dad anyway I was like really like isn't it more important to go get the plans except I know cassan was supposed to kill him yeah but you always do that it's like Indiana Jones in the Last Crusade he could have gone straight there and got it but he went

and rescued his dad first um yeah I call [ __ ] with Cassie not pulling the trigger really you think he would have done it I think he would have done it there is no reason why he would have thought for another St about fing that well only because if she's told him that that her dad put a a weakness in the Death Star right so he he knows that and then he sees krennic there they shoot all the other Engineers right and he's got him you know like he it looks like they're about to kill him too he would go oh wait a minute maybe maybe there is something going on here I reckon he would have fight before that like he the first time when he's talking to that other rebel and he just shoots him in the back to escape oh so you're saying before any of that stuff happened he

would have just taken the shot yeah maybe that would have been inconvenient well actually no it wouldn't it would have made any difference except um she would have she wouldn't have trusted him as much no she wouldn't have got to say goodbye to her father yeah yeah cuz he still died so whatever yeah it just seems weird cuz they yeah they showed very ear on the movie that this is a guy who will just kill anyone to not not in a bad way it to save the Rebellion which is actually what they all go through and say like he's what Han's original character was supposed to be I've done some bad stuff but I'm doing it for the good of the universe so are you just you just telling us that now or we still talking about the film still talking about the film no no I'm just telling you now i' finally come out

with it done some bad stuff okay yeah no we know Luke we know and if you want to see some of the bad stuff Luke's done tune in to Winter 2 winter two game two game two game two game two col winter yeah game two colon winter yeah now I'm with this I'm actually more excited about the other stand alone Star Wars movies now set the bar pretty high I'm I'm still tented about that cuz I don't know that I want to see young Han Solo movie like I feel like this is this is different to that you I meane too I really think this this doesn't make me feel any better about a young Han Solo no what I'm hoping for is I'm hoping this opens the door to just other

movies in the universe oh I agree with that yes absolutely also it wasn't until like obviously I know that this was the lead into episode 4 and but then it was wasn't until um towards the end that I actually realized I'm like wait no this is literally what happens beforehand of course it is like they win their first battle against the empire and then that's literally what happens seconds before the the [ __ ] movie starts yep and then and then it was when you know they got the plans up there and then Vader was chopping everybody up and then they're handing the plans off and then the T 4 is at T4 takes off yeah and I was like huh yeah right of course and I I kind of I was glad that I didn't remember that CU it you know it was like it was an exciting moment for me and
