[Music] welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy Luke you have a switch I do jealous well no actually because I have looked at them and I don't think I want one but you've got one so can you please take the time now to tell us what you think is this a Luke review do we need to uh play the jingle oh [Music] yeah I wasn't going to buy one till probably later in the year but what happened was Hannah went home sick yeah I walked into JB HiFi uhhuh and I sent her a message to go look well can I get

one you might like Zelda I'm going to get one while she was asleep and sick she didn't respond so I thought that was okay yeah yeah you you you I also pretended that you didn't know if she was sick or asleep and yes took advantage of that to to purchase one without I think legally no response at all constitutes a yes that's what I think yeah I was also thinking there's no way that there's going to be any in stock cuz they're pretty much sold out everywhere so NJB highi and I go can I get a switch in Zelda and he's gone sure sure went out back and got one for me huh well guess I'm paying for this now I'm struggling with it really I really am at the moment one of the things that made me go get the switch was like the reviews for Zelda have been crazy like

yeah 10 out of 10 out of 10 98% like people have been loving it I don't know if it's just I'm not good at it cuz I seem to die a hell of a lot for a Zelda game yeah or if I'm just struggling with the controls see when I went to I had a game I had a golf it at uh Roost teeth I actually said like I was having trouble with the controller I just feel tiny yeah and they really are and I don't want to spend another $100 yet to get another controller yeah the Pro Controller but I think I will need one I'm interested in breath of the wild because it is very highly reviewed and all that kind of jazz and I love Zelda except it's available on the Wii U which is a console that I already on the Wii U yeah I already own that and I can just buy the game and play it and I don't

have to buy the switch to do that the only thing literally the only thing on the switch that I'm even remotely interested in at this point is Skyrim and that's only because and that's not even out yet right and it's only because in this imaginary world where I have time to play games on the go I could play Skyrim on the go except that's not a real world that I live in like if I'm going to play SK it's going to be at home so I don't know I just don't think I don't think the switch is for me yeah cuz playing a game like Zelda or Skyrim on the go unless you're on a a long flight or something yeah it's not something where you Skyrim I can't imagine myself but what's the battery life on this thing Luke because I'm not sure this is going to last a long flight

they've done some tests I've read some reviews like playing Zelda if you put like the green brightness all the way down I can get about 3 hours right so if you if if you're playing Skyrim and you don't put the brightness all the way down CU you want to be able to see it and enjoy get an hour I'm assuming I reckon maybe 2 hours yeah but yeah like even when I go on flights now I take a battery pack with me yeah but you can't charge this off of a battery pack doesn't this only charge in the dock no no no it's um you can buy an extra adapter for it off the shelf right now and it just uses a new USBC right only issue with it is it's quite a high voltage than normal USBC so you can't actually if you were to plug it into like a battery packs

that are out now while it would give it charged it wouldn't charge it faster than what it uses battery right but you would extend the life but it wouldn't it would still eventually turn off H but if I was going to be flying for like 6 hours or something I think it'd be great they should just let me bring my Xbox onto the plane that's all I want yeah is it worth $300 to you is how much are they in Australia yes it cost me 550 oh my God all right they're 300 bucks here with this one it's weird cuz what was the the best game on Wii was Wii Sports yeah and it wasn't just that's a game that came with it was crap it was everyone loved that game but it came with something to get people started this comes with nothing you get

the console the controller that's it well um but yeah I and and the extra control the pro controls are 100 bucks yeah that's [ __ ] I think I need it for Zelda but I can't justify another $100 on because if I already have a wiu which which I do I can buy breath of the wild yep and if you plug the switch into the dock so it's on the television from what I understand and listeners please correct me if I'm wrong podcast at multiple n once you plug it into the dock it's kind of just the same as a Wii U it's not even remotely as powerful as a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox one it's like a it's like a Wii U it's a slightly more powerful Wii U I don't know even breath of the world which I'm playing at the moment link carries around this tablet thing yeah the tablet remarkably looks

like the Wii U controller and there's even bits where you have to tilt the game and it's Zelda is not a switch game it's a Wii U game that they just P it over well I'm I'm certainly not buying one soon and I might not buy one at all I haven't played one yet I've seen them I haven't had the pleasure of playing one which I'm I'm sure I will at packs next weekend I don't know I just don't think I want I'm still happy I got one because I do love Zelda and I will finish it but I still also have a little bit of buyers remorse how heavy is it is it like is it portable is actually portable yeah yeah you can carry it around easy but I'm gonna you would have to buy a case for it because it's a weird size see because i' I've got an iPad though which has games on it yeah

but how long do those games take to load not very oh when I had an iPad or an iPhone it just mobile games like that always just feel they take too long to load I've got my my iPad has got Boulders gate one and two on it I don't know top that oh the friends thing I can't work out how to add friends at the moment G yeah that's the other thing too Simon's gone like add me I can't work it out and evidently friend codes are still around yeah so they made a whole big thing about how friend codes were going away because everyone [ __ ] hates them because they're stupid but then they didn't finish a lot of the online stuff I guess for the switch before the launch so they were like oh friend codes are back just for a little bit so it's just the same as the old way

now which is like rubbish yeah it's not not usable at all damn it Nintendo God damn it I just want to be able to add people like I just want to go and type in Simon's name and look there he is yeah I did get [ __ ] no did you just [ __ ] [ __ ] is mine just [ __ ] nice cuz you can actually log on to the Nintendo website and claim your name now so I might still be able to get dwarf Watcher is what you're saying yes I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get that for a while actually now you've said it maybe not yeah probably log on and get it as soon as possible like I'm still sort of happy I got it like I'm going to enjoy Zelda I will get Mario Kart when it comes out yeah well not Mario Kart um Mario party I just don't care about anything

except Skyrim or I I care about breath of the wild which I can play on my Wii U or and Skyrim which I can play better on my Xbox one so I just don't care about this console I think I think I don't care it's a cool idea but the the the little controls they're just they're not designed for adult hands I'm leave that alone you recommend the switch for children is that what he's saying I I don't know I haven't spoken to any children about this dwarves perhaps I would hold off and wait and see what more comes of it yeah that's definitely what I'm going to do six months I'll give him I think like a few why they do have third party developers coming in now not all of them are like Bethesda came in with Skyrim but I think even EA were we're going to wait and see

what happens like I I don't think Mass Effect andromeda's going to be on this no but would you want to play it on this anyway probably not no you would probably not and that's thing like that's not Nintendo's audience especially with the amount of hardcore n have been promised with this you're going to want to see it on the big screen basically going to be core pornn yeah can we talk about that the developers of Mass Effect Andromeda have said the rating that they've been given if you'll notice they've lost the partial nudity rating and they've got a full nudity rating full nudity I've full never understood what partial nudity was I guess lots of skin but no genitals yeah it means I guess it means boobs right

parti boobs but that's nudity or side boo partial it basically means you're going to see dicks now yeah right it's nudity right not like not like sex so no there's always been sex no no no but it has but not graphically so in like they've lost partial nudity so I guess partial nudity means like you can maybe see the butt or maybe the boobs I guess yeah although have there been boobs in a Mass Effect game probably not there's been boobs but there's not been nipples right for some reason the nipple is the only obscene part of a breast you know which is weird right yeah it's really off yeah even Emma Watson's showing everything but the nipple Nowa have you seen that have you seen that in the past week yeah I bet you have no Matt I haven't seen it we've all

sorry you're also holding an acoustic guitar uh no it was actually just my microphone stand just a spring on it struming that then you were saying I was saying if you buy more than a game a year this is a really good [ __ ] deal the only thing I can see wrong with this is like it's month [ __ ] all over this amazing thing no right so it's it's 10 bucks a month and you get access to X number of games except they rotate them so yep if you're like me someone like me who like I don't get a huge amount of time to play games so if I play a little bit of a game and then suddenly that game gets rotated out I can't play I can't I can't play it

anymore so as opposed to not having it now and not playing it at all no no no like for example right I've been playing if You' started a game you can't go back to it if it goes off the rotation you have to go and buy it okay I've been playing Witcher three the best game ever made for when did it come out May 2015 mhm so I've been playing it for almost 2 years and I I'm like I will continue to play it it is the best game but if I was if I was using this thing to play it at some point they would take it away from me that's my yes cuz that's not what this service is for for that you would you've got a game that you love and you want to keep playing buy it at that point I would find it very difficult to to justify not paying for

it so fair enough but what this I think is doing is combating the used game Market which I've always despised you get like the companies like EB Games Gamestop and all of that that go out they they make all their money from used games but they none of that money ever gets back to developers yeah this will be you buy it from here you buy it service I'm not entirely sure how the mod works I've always just assumed that everyone pays their money each month and then the developer ERS get everyone gets a cut of how many times their particular game was played or whatever that's what I assume right way I think Netflix would work is everyone just gets a cut of how many times no I don't think that is how

Netflix works I think Netflix just negotiate a licensing fee with you I just always assumed it was like a you get a and Netflix gets all the money that's how Spotify works I get money from Spotify every time someone listens to my music yeah based on specific but I don't think that that's how Netflix works I wasn't sure but I just assum but no this at least this way developers will be getting money so they can actually invest back into making games instead of the use Market taking it all away from them do you know why I would hate this I would never play a game all the way through you know what I mean like I buy so few games that I'll buy a game I'll play it until I'm done and I will continue to play it until a new game comes out

probably six months later then I'll buy that this I'll just be every time I'll spend more time going through the menu trying to decide what I want to play then I will actually play the uh problem I have I kind I agree every game that was on there that's available I own so there's not like hundreds on there at the moment there's just like a small selection but yeah it's like everyone on there I I own it so but I still think it's a great idea like 10 buck and there's going to be there's not going to be the newest games on there but there still going to be a huge selection but I just don't know I have to wait and see once it launchers have got all the games with it's worthwhile for me yeah for you probably not I still

subscribe to EA access which when their games get to over a year old old or so they go into the Vault and you can play for free and then also like Mass Effect I'm going to get to play on the 16th of March cuz it releases a week early and you get a 10 hour fre preview oh wow do you get to continue from that game when the real gamees out oo yep well [ __ ] you I tell you well it'll cost you five if they took away that limitation the restrictions and they just made this really like Netflix so just all of the content's up there you pay a monthly fee you play what whatever game you want then that that would be a really amazing service but that's what it is it's not going to be they change it every month every game goes out be like Netflix

how some stuff goes out while new stuff comes in not a lot comes out though from Netflix for reasons you probably be surprised yeah okay cuz quite often there'll be like a news article here about all the shows that are disagre from Netflix every month oh really okay just probably been the stuff that you haven't been watching [ __ ] being murdered mhm if they don't perform well taken out the back and shot Jesus like a Melbourne cup horse oh yeah but yeah it's not going to be like every month they bring in a 100 new games it might be every month they rotate 10 out and 10 in type of thing yeah interesting hey do you guys remember that Academy award-winning film we watched last year oh are you talking about the uh the academy

award-winning Suicide Squad yeah I can't believe that from now on anytime you write Suicide Squad you have to the little academy award symbol next to it I know it's so [ __ ] annoying Chiller 7 is so Vindicated at this like right now but is any that's not the fact that they even want it even what they want at for find ridiculous was it for hair and makeup or something hair and makeup it was going to win for anything to be that it certainly wouldn't have been for script or editing but the hair and makeup wasn't even that good I saw a photo it was some meme online but it was like a photo of uh one of the characters from Star Trek Beyond yeah which was this

elaborate alien prosthetic and then a picture of Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad and it was yeah best makeup loser best makeup winner yeah like like come on whatever the academy is has voted I guess it's subjective it's political it's based on campaigns and of course even this year they didn't even manage to say the correct name for the best film no know that's like that's a a pretty intense [ __ ] up yes cuz everyone was on stage making speeches I'm going to I'm going to assume our listeners know what we're talking about but in case you don't uh Warren batty of all people was up to to announce uh best picture at the Academy Awards he opened the envelope that he

had been handed first it said Emma Stone and then it said La La Land and so he was confused because he was like well why do this got a person's name and not just a film so he uh he stalled a bit cuz he was trying to figure out what the [ __ ] was going on and he said oh la la land no he didn't he didn't even say it he handed the envelope to F dunway cuz he he kind of looked at her and went uh F she said oh you're ridiculous took the envelope and said La La Land without reading the full thing right yeah evidently he he was given the backup envelope for the best supporting actress yeah yeah because it gets even it's even more convoluted because Emma Stone afterwards was telling reporters well I had my envelope I was holding it cuz I kept it and so she kind of confused

things but yeah apparently they keep backups of every of of all the envelopes and I don't know something [ __ ] up but but you know what I'm glad I'm glad that La La Land didn't win because I thought that I saw La La Land and I thought it was the biggest most overrated film I've ever seen and I didn't want it to win but I thought it would and then um then this happened and it getting announced as the winner and then having it taken back in a really embarrassing way to me was even better than it just not winning at all I really enjoyed it I really enjoyed it pretty much if anything is nominated for an Oscar or wi CC they're all movies I just have no interest in seeing yeah I would say with the exception of arrival yeah arrival was [ __ ] incredible all right I will put

that on my to watch list then yeah you should put arrival on you to watch this arriv ral's the best film I've watched in a very long time all right so that's oh that's that's now sweet it is I'll find it somewhere oh speaking of DVD do really been 20 years since DVD apparently this year Mar 20th anniversary of DVD which I sold all mine actually yeah I would believe it because I can remember my first DVD was Fifth Element yeah right mine was blade and that came out in 95 mine was Idle Hands I remember watching your copy of Idle Hands h

and I remember thinking Jessica Alba's hot and she's going to be a big [Laughter] star and I was right and you know what I think that movie was the only time I thought that although I think I remember thinking Devin s is a is going to be a big star he always was to me man he always was to me the [ __ ] is he doing now so are they celebrating it at all or Deon s yeah I bet they are is he still alive or did he commit suicide I don't know it seems to still be alive there's no dash and another date is a Canadian actor he began acting when he was a teen appearing in the films Little Giants Casper now and then Night of the Twisters Wild America and SLC Punk there you go I love SLC Punk Matt there a sequel there is I've

I've sted clear of it in 19 99 he starred in the comedy horror film Idol hands with Jessica Alba and Matt are you aware that he uh he was nominated for a satin award as best young actor in that very movie Idol hands lost out unfortunately but um did win that same award the next year in Final Destination oh that's right he was in that he was in the first one someone needs to put their postal address in the spreadsheet why weird don't ask questions where do you want to post to Singapore or America it's a race there mine's there all right Dan wins it's actually I did want you to win anyway oh that's good thanks man oh [ __ ] you no I actually think this will be better for Dan to have I'm sending you a

microphone last year actually I got it in January I got a microphone to try out a m mic oh yeah oh mod mic 5 um don't know if you realized a couple of episodes I've stopped using this microphone and used that one oh is that right it's great it's not a headset or anything it's just a microphone so you just plug in your headset I thought this might be good for when you travel yeah that would be good what about when I travel well because I brought the switch I can't afford to hey did I notice somebody has a black Yeti uh Jenna does black that's cool man know you could get it I'm trying to plug the mod mic sorry yeah Jen's mod mic all the way but the mod mic is a thing that Luke has
