[Music] welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy he's going to do the opening now that Luke's not here well uh we should point out Luke's not here so that's something we don't usually do no he's not often than the one that's not here actually yeah that's true that's true he's at Pax PX o and when he gets when he gets back from Pax I'm sure he's going to have a lot of stories yes for us yes forward to that yeah he tends to make uh make a lot of friends at those events handed out free hugs and whatever the hell else it is that he gets up to so yeah I also noticed on social media

he's wearing his Kilt yes so I'm sure he's getting a lot of attention as he always does when he wears that thing yeah hopefully not the sort of attention he got in Paris uh that was very very intense and got some very intense attention in Paris we did Luke was abused by somebody for insulting their culture for wearing it Kilt unfortunately uh this was all yelled at him in his face in French so it didn't kind of have any impact until later on someone explained what had been going on just [ __ ] I'd say it had impact Matt I'd say it had a lot of impact well he said he didn't wear the Kilt again while we were there yeah that's right no that's true [ __ ] terrified did you only learn on that day that the Kilt is a French

cultural item that should never be worn by anyone outside of France because I don't want I don't want to be the uh I want to be the poo in the pool here man but uh I was not aware yeah no I mean it was it was one other Nation who yeah I I I'm I'm certain it was a misunderstanding but either way that man was very angry at Luke so yeah whatever whatever may just been picking either that or Hannah's French isn't as good as she claims it to be and that's not what he was saying at all right yeah he was just saying a l loudly yeah yeah yeah Welcome to our country I said welcome The Kilt I said welcome acknowledge me speaking of angry uh there's a

there's a Norwegian Cruise uh cruise on at the moment or it's probably probably finished by now well I hope I hope for the passengers say it has finished because they are not enjoying themselves no but I do feel like this is a case of come on you got to give them C some slack so it's a Norwegian Cruise uh it's up in uh Iceland uh and and and various very cold areas and due to weather the the ship has been unable to to dock at certain uh points that were supposed to stop we supposed to stop in the Netherlands in France Iceland and finally in Scotland uh it failed to make any of those stops because of severe weather conditions and also I think probably because they've been stuck at

Sea uh the the toilets is starting to back up and uh y y and I've I've heard the food is also starting to become rancid because they haven't been able to resupply so that coupled with the broken toilets is probably not a good combination really no but and and on the one hand I can see how that might be a little Annoying for you as a passenger on on on this uh on this cruise but on the other hand they don't control the weather so no they definitely don't I think yelling abuse at them as these people are and yet the passengers have gathered on mass to yell at um a steward I've seen the video here and uh basically formed a protest he cing it like a champ mate yeah this is just one of the I I mean what do you want him to

do but but I understand but what do you want them to do about it like yeah yeah it's not they can't control the weather I mean come on it's like when when we were in um Germany and we went up to kellstein house it was very foggy and there was a group of people yelling at the tour guide cuz we paid a lot of money to come all the way here and we're up here in the Alps and we can't see anything what are you going to do about it like she's like what do you mean what am I going to do about it it's the [ __ ] weather summer mate yeah I don't control the fog man like what are you doing and yeah mhm just you know Singapore does control its weather in a really creepy way go on have I told you about this before I don't think so Singapore do something called cloud

seeding and they do it right before they've got a you know a national day parade or a big event like the F1 they'll make it rain so that all the clouds are all rained out a couple of days before the main event how do they do now the only other time I've heard of that happening is like [ __ ] Mr Burns [ __ ] like Bond villain [ __ ] how do they do that they put planes up that uh spray some chemical above the cloud line that uh blah blah blah blah science blah blah Don't Understand yeah CL are [ __ ] spray a bunch of laxatives all over the clouds and there you go don't drink the water um okay that's kind of

terrifying yeah yes it is yes it is huh it's a place where they they do like to have control over stuff yes yeah did you see this part in the video where everyone just starts chanting bring the captain make him walk the plank no because it's like like hey this Steward like they've finally gone okay fine it's not this Steward's fault that the weather means they cannot dock this might the they're like bring the captain he might be able to control the weather let's see he might at least if if nothing else he might have a parrot that he can send out yeah well see the cruise I've been on which was uh was a carnival cruise to the Pacific Islands we had really bad weather one one night uh and there was not not a whole lot anyone

could do about it let's be honest and we just kind of like but I guess you all gathered on mass and screamed at the captain though I just I just drank drank a couple of cocktails and uh and U went to bed yeah I think we did some trivia cuz you can do Indo things sure but I mean obviously there wasn't there wasn't literally [ __ ] floating up out of the toilets so I mean that was that was a difference I suppose I mean that's a bonus for you I guess shout out to Carnival Cruisers not having [ __ ] everywhere and I did uh the one it wasn't a mistake cuz it was fine but someone did point out to me later I late in the cruise decided to try the lobster and uh and it was fine but then someone said that's not the time to do that and

I was like yeah you you absolutely right I didn't even think of that that's like first couple of days is you want to be trying the lobster I would have thought it was the opposite I would have thought it would be like you don't want to try the lobster when you have the maximum amount of Crews ahead of you I'd be like okay we're going to dock tomorrow I might as well try the lobster well but I mean I don't think they were picking up the Lobster on any of these little islands that we were going to so by the time I ate the lober is that now it works it's like look guys whatever's on on the boat at the start is what you've got we're going to be going through some delicious Seafood I think in the case of this look and not touch I don't think I don't think the island of mar that we had to

take little boats from the cruise ship to I don't think they were supplying the ship with a lot of goods right yeah so well sounds unfair then yeah it was a good Cruiser had a good time Cruisers are quite good I've never been on a cruise I've been on boats obviously I've been on boats but I've uh I've never been on a big enough boat that the boat itself was the holiday a a cruise is interesting cuz it's literally like you're it's it's like you're one of those rich people who doesn't have to do anything anymore for for a period of time because everything is just done for you and you can't really go anywhere like so your options are sit on the deck and read and drink sit inside and drink sit you know go on the water slides and

drink yep uh sure you know um L if you're listening you're not allowed on the cruise budy uh if you want a pizza at uh at 2: a.m. for some reason because you've been drinking you can have one of those they'll make you one like MH well that sounds fantastic yeah I put on quite a lot of weight uh in in 10 days yeah more than you would think possible sure sure well I mean I guess you traditionally you put on weight in the holiday anyway but if you're literally trapped I tend to walk on your back walk weight off on holidays that's the difference whereas on a on a cruise ship there's nowhere to go so yeah yeah whereas you know when we were in Europe I'm I'm sure that I lost weight because of the The Walking so I wouldn't mind a cruise I've never been on a

cruise but um in a couple of weeks I am going to Sri Lanka oh to visit a Victorian era Tea Plantation really Salon that's interesting huh yeah should be there you go you want some tea I'll bring you back some tea no they're still still making tea yeah yes they are they are computers haven't taken that job yet they don't Oh I thought you meant like because of colonialism not really being a thing anymore sure that too I was going to say yeah they they still make tea but I guess they get to charge for it now they make it when they want to now not when someone else wants them to yeah that's right someone who looks like us right and you're going to show up and tell them what to do yeah well I've got the Hat Matt that's all I'm going to say I've got the hat and the and the uh the

the megaphone you use a megaphone ISU yeah H yeah an Old Tommy megaphone and I'm also wearing puffy pants and riding boots I wish that was true yeah I do too oh that'll be fun uh should be we uh we're going to talk about Joker but Luke's not here and I do actually I kind of want his input on it um yeah I do as well because I mean for those of you who missed last week's um Matt and I really enjoyed Joker Luke not so much um he didn't seem to hate it though he just said he's glad he watched it he'll never watch it again um but I do feel like we're probably doing a bit of a disservice by uh discussing it without him so do we want to hold off until yeah I'm sure his opinion is more nuanced

than just that just sure exactly exactly right um I I spoke to a mutual friend of ours um for a band member of an awesome band I won't say their name but you'll know what I'm talking about okay awesome you know what I mean wait what's happening oh oh yeahhh sorry um and he hated this movie um yeah and demanded I justify why I liked it and it was interesting because normally I just say I just really enjoyed it and then the whoever I'm talking to usually you guys go well that's that's reason enough sure yeah opinions are versatile like that yeah that's right he didn't accept that so I really had to intellectualize why I liked it so I am I haven't come prepared to um to discuss so next week's show stay tuned all right very good uh we do

have we've got some Joker news which I guess we can still discuss uh there's been a bit of well there's been controversy around the film anyway uh oh and follow up apparently that clip that I discussed where he was on Kimmel where where Wen Phoenix was on Kimmel um yeah it's it's get it this doesn't really explain anything this just makes it sort of weirder because I still don't really understand what what's going on is apparently what was happening on set was supposed to be a prank he was trying to trick Todd Phillips the director into thinking he and Larry the cinematographer were going to have a fight right okay and then but that doesn't really explain why it was on Kimmel and why he reacted the way he did so I don't know I watched it I I watched it after

the show um it it really it was uncom he did he did seem genuinely uh kind of taken back they they played it um the the cinematographer of Joker is indeed named Larry it's Lawrence Sher right and um you know I mean he's shot all of to Phillips's movies um all the hangovers and uh right others war dogs so old school you know story checks out yeah I guess um well they said that apparently the prank went wrong because wi Phoenix was too convincing and everyone was just [ __ ] no one was laughing it wasn't funny so well the reason that makes me think that maybe uh maybe it is a bit of a joke or at least was a joke that went arai is that when he was talking to Kimmel about it right at the end he kind of he apologized to him said you know you should never speak to people like that

but you know films are intense and yeah but then he took it back and goes but I will say this that Larry shouldn't have been [ __ ] Whispering behind the camera while I was trying to perform right and like I don't seem to recall like when Christian Bale came out and apologized uh for his but don't move the [ __ ] lights seriously was never like man it's the cinematographers who are coping it isn't it yeah I mean yeah obviously you should never you should never yell at somebody like that but also you should never move the [ __ ] lights when I'm trying to perform yeah yeah obviously that up my [ __ ] eyeline it's just attracting oh good for you oh good for you I love that you know we watched um we

watched Batman Begins last night because that's a great movie it really is it it really is yeah such a good movie it's one of the movies actually quite like Joker where I've just found myself like after Batman Begins I just found myself just thinking about the movie you know like in the days following to the point where I I was just really felt compelled to watch it again like yeah like I don't I Blade Runner 2049 same thing just it just it really like got something spinning in my head kind of thing and Joker has been the same I really really want to watch it again so away so away the other movie that had that for me uh was once upon a time in Hollywood um oh I got to watch that I think I I think just because it was it was packed with so much data you know

that that even when I had consumed it I still thought I'm going to need to go through this again cuz I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that went right over my head right right okay yeah I I want to watch that so yeah you should see it yeah yeah I I really enjoyed it so so Joker was controversial just because of its tone and content I guess uh and and because of all that stuff but also now and obviously I didn't think of this at the time because I'm not I'm not super familiar with uh with Gary Glitter but uh sure there's a Gary Glitter song in it and he's uh he's serving well a very long sentence in prison right now for being a pedophile so yeah um I'll be honest only know Gary Glitter by name yes uh and I really only know him by name because I know he's in jail for

being a pedo and um I think I think he was friends with Ral Harris but I couldn't uh couldn't confirm that that's speculative um but funny names yeah that's right yeah funny names and um yeah used to DD children so I guess that's uh part and parcel um I don't actually remember I I can't bring the song to memory but I do remember the scene and it's a great scene but I just oh sure yeah okay I mean you know I mean that's an iconic song but I guess in this woke 2019 culture if you're going to put a song in a movie and that song was written by a guy who [ __ ] a bunch of kids do some homework I guess on that well did they know and they just were like H because I guess I don't know

it's a very it's an iconic song so maybe they just didn't realize uh unlikely I maybe it's just never even as I'm saying it's probably unlikely they probably just went out no one's going to notice somebody knew somebody knew yeah right um now generally speaking it's not necessarily the director although it is in some cases who chooses the the songs for movies it's there's a music supervisor who's got connections to record labels and usually there's deals been made and stuff like this so you know for all we know Todd Phillips came into the editing room once there was a a song in there that he only kind of vaguely recognized but thought it worked perfectly well in the scene and said do we have the rights to this and they said yeah surprisingly cheap it's in the film

and he was like no one else wants it for some reason well here's the thing though the people aren't seeming to be annoyed that there's a song by a pedophile in Joker they're annoyed that he's going to collect royalties off of this song Yeah but isn't it correct that you don't you aren't entitled to royalties while you're in prison I don't know I don't know but the the the yeah I'm not sure about that and I I I I get that but it's Al it's tough right because is the song Bad now like exactly because I mean the song's not about being a pedophile is it I wouldn't I hope not well it's not I don't think it's got a whole lot of lyrics the song right yeah I don't think it's got mostly got him yeah yeah yeah touch

those kids um in the background um I just yeah but this is that whole argument with Roman palansky is Roman pansy's films retroactively well and future actively and currently bad because of what he did yeah I guess depends on whether you personally are uh feel that way about it I depends if you personally are a pedophile I think it's I think it's broader than that Matt broader than that um well it's like Ricky J said to Joe Rogan recently um cuz ja was in trouble because he quoted Churchill Winston Churchill right and somebody somebody said you know he was a white supremacist and jaes was like well not in that quote he wasn't in that quote he was fighting the [ __ ] Nazis yeah you people are multifaceted things um yeah

yeah well I mean I can understand why people are upset about him potentially getting royalties sort sort of yeah I feel like it's it's not as black and white as all that cuz I mean he still did make the song despite the other stuff he did so I don't know sure I don't but then again he made the song a long long time before this stuff happened well I guess do we know that was he was he doing it back then who knows you know I don't [ __ ] know anyway so that's that's that's this week's Joker controversy I'm sure there'll be more yeah but there's also there there's some there's some good news for Joker fans as well yes uh because uh PornHub have uh that's a website where they um they screen

all you have to do is CL CL that time you said something you thought it to be true and therefore it's not Li I didn't think it was illegal when I did that so I can't be accountable for there you go yeah uh I watched another movie last night okay yeah sure uh I watched Us by yep yep and I assume I assume you've seen that I have yeah yeah I liked it mhm I liked it but I I think I missed something clearly sure because people not everybody cuz I I've looked online and it it seems like I'm not the only one who felt that it was a little Half

Baked uh but there are a lot of people who really really liked it and got something out of it that I didn't so okay that's interesting I'd be interesting to know if I got out of it what you're implying some people got well I don't know what it is I oh sure you just they enjoyed it a lot more than you so clearly there was something you missed yeah yeah some people it got like five star reviews at a lot of places and then I even read a review that said um some people are complaining about the plot but you just really have to not think about it and I'm like what well the plot was I mean it high concept but it was pretty straightforward yeah exactly like but I mean but if you think about it too much it kind of falls apart cuz it doesn't make a whole lot of sense

sure but but that's that's fine but that's okay it's a [ __ ] Thriller it's a horror movie yes and I enjoyed it I just I feel like no so did I I wouldn't give it five stars okay yeah I I thought it was I thought it was damn creepy I thought it was really well done um I I'm not heading up an Oscar campaign for it I found the I just found the resolution kind of the explanation to be a little unsatisfying and I didn't okay yeah that's all you mean the case of mistaken identity that I'm just trying to be cryptic no no no no no no just the whole explanation of acoss America thing or just the oh by the way there's this thing happening deal with it yeah and I was like wait what yeah like it just I don't know I'm just I can't I can't just like breeze over

that I can't like wait what are you talking about why are the why are these people there like yeah that's all yeah because I'll buy into any premise that a fantasy movie sets up for me but you got to set it up you got to set what the rules are and then once I understand you break those rules whereas something that just the twist is it's something we've made up that you now just have to accept right is less satisfying and I mean we could talk I mean spoilers I guess there's like she can just wonderer in and out anyway so why didn't why couldn't any of them just wander out yeah I don't I just there little aspects of it that I'm like stop thinking about it and just be scared by it no look I enjoyed it I just it's one that I

yeah it just afterwards I was like that seems Seems like they should have thought of that but whatever sure yeah did you see his first film get out I [ __ ] love get out and that's why I actually I I I don't mean this to sound like rude or anything but I feel like if he hadn't done get out first us would have probably just ended up on Netflix because I do feel like it's like it was fine but it was not as good and I feel like it's not it was very very hyped for I think for what it ended up being I don't mean that's yeah I don't disagree I mean I I really enjoyed it I'm not going to lie I really enjoyed it but uh but I agree with everything you said and it was certainly overhyped if if anyone is and i' to be honest I'm not really read up

on this but if anyone is saying that this is like better than just a pretty good horror movie then yeah yeah people it's got like tomato it got like 95 on a critics so the critics kind of but that's what I mean like maybe maybe I just missed something like about it other than the yeah like it great it great creepy like some really good stuff in there with the the look of it like it looked [ __ ] fantastic and it was like yeah yeah and performances were really good and I I think there was some really good action sequences in it I also think that what what people in our situation need to also take into consideration is that we watch a lot of these kind of movies one of' your minding blown well you know what I was thinking it reminded me of

and then obviously this kind of makes sense it reminded me of just a Twilight Zone episode that got turned into a movie but that stretched out to a movie yeah yeah but you know Twilight Zone episodes are like that where it's kind of like I don't worry about the rough edges like yeah yeah because Twilight episodes are thought experiments not narratives and in fact is why that like in in the old rodling ones character doesn't really matter [ __ ] backstory doesn't really matter and whether or not the plot holds up doesn't matter it's just a thought experiment what happens if a guy who just wants to be alone and read is rocketed into the future where everything is destroyed except the library and his

glasses yes and it stars the penguin Danny deito Christ that was a that was a disturbing Penguin man yeah I mean say what you want about Batman Returns well that's I his performances in Always Sunny sometimes remind me of he's just not afraid to be [ __ ] disgusting disgusting yeah that's right I really do have to keep going I only got to the end of the third or fourth season and I stopped not because I wasn't enjoying it just because I kind of overloaded over the course of about 3 weeks so I should jump back in I I recommend it this season so far has been very good as well anyway us I liked it so it just I

don't know yeah seemed like look uh yeah no no I'll see it and I I'll probably see whatever he makes next you know what I you know what I won't probably see I probably won't see gini man um no no and I I look I probably like one out of three of un's movies he makes some very good movies he makes some ordinary movies he made the second best Hulk movie of the two Hulk movies sure I I do like his Hulk movie yeah I do as well but um you know and I got no [ __ ] problem with [ __ ] Will Smith no but but fine a a movie where Will Smith starts getting [ __ ] Hunted by a different Will Smith just not really

enticing me this is not really sounding particularly original and uh I just don't give a [ __ ] the the thing about this movie is I so I feel like I've been hearing about this movie for a long time I don't know why like I saw uh before Joker I think I saw a trailer for this but it wasn't a trailer for this it was a trailer for highspeed [ __ ] 3D like you know like they weren't even I don't know it was it was it was a weird thing it was just them trying to Hype up this this [ __ ] excuse to make people go back to the cinema because this is a thing you can't do at home uh and then I was just like well I don't care um and not only that I feel like some of the shots in the trailer look a bit [ __ ] so yeah I don't know like from a

visual effects perspective like this this looks like an early 19s era action movie and now don't get me wrong I [ __ ] love that era of action movie but it's passed with on okay we no need to go back plus I I watched this this thing this little featurette of like the mind boggling technology that made Will Smith look young and they basically y the biggest trick is the older one they've put a bit of gray in his hair and he's got a beard and the younger one black hair clean shaven yeah I mean that's the biggest difference I saw uh I I haven't watched um the season 3 of True Detective but I saw saw oh yeah the photos the other day of how they aged um go on say his name I actually don't know uh no I don't Mr Ali Mr Ali yeah Mr Ali that'll do he's blade now he's going to

be blade now but have they aged him [ __ ] amazing like Steven DWF too him and Steven dorf uh you see them as partners for three generations do [ __ ] makeup yeah yeah that's that's right just [ __ ] they can do really good old man makeup now yeah oh with the in the Cent season 2 they made the what's her name uh look yes like very convincing I I think that was like 90% haircut yeah just do stuff like that don't make him look like old lady haircut on not like the [ __ ] start of uh X-Men 3 where he just give him a plastic looking face that looks weird stop doing that that's right mind you I did think that young Robert Downey Jr looked pretty good oh yeah and um Kurt Russell also in Guardians 2 yeah yeah that was that was good

mhh um probably more successful than young Anthony Hopkins in Westworld although I do love Westworld he wasn't particularly convincing young Anthony Hopkins but you know the fact that they tried was nice yeah but um the other thing about Gemini man you touched on it briefly is that um this was shot in 4k 3D 120 frames per second um many died to make this film yeah and a grand total of zero Cinemas in America are screening it in that format it's [ __ ] expensive to set that [ __ ] up yeah yeah and no one gives a [ __ ] I me no one gives a [ __ ] in fact I'd go the opposite most people if they saw this they'd be like that looks [ __ ] garbage when it's why yeah remember The Hobbit came out [ __ ] Hobbit yeah man and you know

what the first one minute of Hobbit I wanted to walk out of the cinema and I should have I should have just walked out and gone and said refund me that get me a ticket in [ __ ] 2D 25 frames a second and I'll go back in and watch this like a normal movie because watching it to look like a school play where all the there's no motion blur there's no Contra and and I can see I can see the liners of the wigs and I it's just you know like a movie is not supposed to look like a [ __ ] yeah documentary yeah it's it's I think honestly it just feels to me like a gimmick to get people to go to the movies cuz yeah people are complaining they don't like 3D cuz uh well not everybody we've got listeners I think

who quite like 3D I why I know we've got a listener in particular who likes 3D a lot and there are people who like it but I think overall I don't think it's as popular as everyone was hoping well the industry was hoping yeah but don't forget the industry was hoping 3D was going to be popular in the 50s when they first came out with it because they thought television was going to make people not go to the cinema like there was a period where I had to check cuz I cuz I don't like 3 I had to check and make sure it was a 2d screening I don't anymore I actually I've forgotten that that I had to do that even because now yeah you've got to seek it out God yeah I wouldn't even know where to go well I can't remember the last time I saw something even advertising a 3D

movie right yeah yeah even uh Adventures end like you hear stories about like this really [ __ ] frigged people out and you're like really yeah you know oh like the Exorcist people [ __ ] dying watching The Exorcist and I'm like scary I guess yeah yeah but people were a lot more I um you know heavily religious back then too so that's sure but they also had just been through a couple of Wars yeah you know what I mean like these are people that knew Real Horror and yet they watch the excis and they like too much for me mate yeah or uh The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is so hokey now but uh that [ __ ] Disturbed people back in the day not have you say a word about it oh you know what I tried to watch I love it but yeah yeah that

old man makeup is not good no not only that no one even [ __ ] gets hurt until like 45 minutes into that movie that's right yeah the there's The Hitchhiker guy who's pretty disturbing but oh true yeah I mean look the whole movie is weird and disturbing yeah um but uh I tried to watch that um prequel that they made only a few years ago uh it's called [ __ ] Texas Chainsaw Massacre origins or something like that have you seen that Alexandra Dario in it uh she's in one of them and cuz you just reminded me that I watched another movie this week but uh no I don't think I have seen it PR cool I can't even remember so let me just let me get the name right at

least oh it's called Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Beginning the beginning um produced by Michael Bay if that oh yeah yeah uh but this Brewster okay I don't know who any of these people are Matt but you know jordanna Brewster she's in Fast and Furious okay um but it was garbage by the way if you uh if you're thinking of checking it out cuz here's the thing right and I I guess you could argue this about joker as well but like when I watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I see [ __ ] leather face with a [ __ ] chainsaw [ __ ] dancing in the sunlight like a maniac right at no point am I going I wonder if he was abused as a child what

would that look like yeah yeah but now they want you to think about that yeah that's but like Rob zomes Halloween went that direction with Michael Myers he yeah I I actually never saw that I'll be honest I mean they they were fine but they did you know I feel like you know like Halloween didn't didn't worry about that stuff Michael my is evil he wants to kill you don't worry about it right whereas Rob Zombie showed him as a kid and you know like killing animals cuz he's just like a bog standed serial killer sort of but not not B standard Ian um I I know should be so flipping about it but yeah it just kind of normalized him more than I think they intended in The Originals that's yeah yeah well that's that's that's kind of what this does

with L the face but I I don't feel it's necessary no yeah nah um the other movie I watched is we have always lived in the castle which I have not heard of that it's on Netflix it's a Netflix movie it's got uh the guy who plays uh the Winter Soldier in it it's got crisen Glover who I [ __ ] love Stan okay uh it's got uh what's Vera for's sister little sister oh it's like Tesa fora yeah something like that yep yeah yep yep she's in it and Alexandra darar who I mentioned before and it's ghost story sort of okay interesting yeah it's about I'm looking at it now looks kind of like a like a Gothic horror yeah yeah it's uh it's different it's interesting I I yeah

check it out it's cool okay I will if it's on Netflix yeah I uh I I watched a a series recently that's going to give you a little bit of a segue into something as well okay um Amazon uh got in touch with uh Danish director Nicholas wanding Reen oh yes H known for drive and uh uh few other movies that one with um the other one with uh Ryan goling and what's his name [ __ ] oh only Russell Crow he did that one didn't he was I'm thinking of someone else no I think he's thinking of that one okay two cops or whatever Maybe not maybe not but it usually does star Ryan goling as a cop

usually does um but in this particular thing it stars Miles Teller as a cop because Amazon got in touch with him and said uh we'll give you a series TV series and you can do whatever you want and we'll just be hands off and he was like fine great and so he made a show called um Too Old to Die Young and uh this see I watched it last week it is at the same time incredibly boring and intensely fascinating right it's it's bizarre um as an experiment uh Amazon said they will no longer give any director C blanch to do anything they want right to

see scripts in advance yeah no it is it is so slow that often time at least at least twice I thought I'd accidentally hit Paws and I hadn't right you should watch uh Twin Peaks the return then all no thank you you be watching a guy sweep up for 10 minutes and be wondering is this the show what am I is this Twin Peaks this guy's is sweeping up the bar yeah mhm yeah did I ever tell you about the worst play I ever saw probably but tell me again so H and I went to see this play at the Belvoir Street Theater in Sydney um called edus schmus right and um yes I remember this I remember the name yeah yeah yeah um

the so these these it's a white a white stage white background curtain opens and there's there's two women wearing all white and they step up you know Take a Bow and then they say every death scene from every play right I'm like okay I'm interested and then they begin to kill each other as Hamlet and as MC Beth and is [ __ ] everyone right with blood packs and squibs and and there's [ __ ] blood everywhere it was amazing like I had a grin on my face I was like [ __ ] yes cuz you know the play goes for 3 hours or whatever I'm in the first two minutes and I'm loving it so that goes for about seven or eight minutes of just [ __ ] Gore and these chicks are both covered in blood head to

toe and the stage is covered in blood and then they they they take a bow and they they walk off the stage and then the next scene is someone mopping up all this Blood right so this this old lady comes on with this mop and starts mopping up the blood after about 5 minutes of that we start to realize no that was act one and this woman is a janitor and we're currently in intermission people slowly start going outside other people are like no I'm pretty sure this is the play um and it wasn't it was it was just the janitor and it was intermission and then the and then and then we came back for two more hours of just garbage no more blood just just boring Gage normal play yeah just a play yeah that's right well did the janitor get like a round of applause at

least pretty much pretty much um the movie I was think yeah uh is the nice guys and it was Shane black I was thinking of not Nicholas whing reffin okay yeah uh who went on to direct that Predator movie that is apparently quite bad but I've not seen oh is that awful I tried to watch it I couldn't even couldn't even get into it it it's literally every other movie it's it's every other movie that's a shame not even every other Predator movie because I like them it's just every other action movie well Nicholas winding Reen uh or winding refen whatever is apparently been sure he's doing a [ __ ] Maniac Cop remake make show for HBO which what

all right yeah okay I mean I'm I'm fine with this yeah it's just such a weird uh a weird project for him I suppose I I look there's uh it's weird for a number of reasons so let's unpack this so Maniac Cop obviously this is a [ __ ] movie from the ' 80s yep Bruce Campbell I know people yep that's right um is this a Sam Ry produced movie actually man the original man cop he may have produced it I don't the original is from 888 so yeah he would have been uh he would have been probably producing stuff at that point yeah I don't know I I just kind of had it in my head that he had something to do with it but but that he might not so anyway nothing to do with what we're

talking about here um I know they're Reviving 8s properties these days for Nostalgia you know I mean there's a there's a fuller House series on you know but I can't imagine that Maniac Cop was at the top of anyone's list of like brand recognition I don't think a lot of people know about it really like I we know about it but that's cuz we watch we definitely know about it yeah we watched all of these shitty movies yeah yeah well because it was a Bruce Campbell movie and so and we loved evil dead so I sort out other Bruce Campbell movies but I didn't think anyone else knew about this movie so yeah yeah and I think I just got this cu the [ __ ] VHS cover was just like a [ __ ] zombie is looking cop yeah with like blue smoke behind him because it

was the 80s Y and it's a Maniac Cop killing people yeah well they've called the uh this ISS uh uh John hams will direct no sorry refen will Ser as Show run and will direct the entire series with John hams sorry who directed univ regeneration uh ands the project an unadulterated action-packed horror Odyssey along with being a strong commentary on the decline of civilization well I mean I'm on board man yeah if they if these guys reckon they can do it and they reckon they're going to get people to watch it then I'll be one of those people yeah if a [ __ ] Horror show about a zombie cop murdering people uh has a strong political message about the decline of

society I'm in yeah let's do it yep sure just and you know if you told me this was a movie I'd be all in but like if you telling me like no this is 10 hours worth of like character study HBO's doing this yeah like all right let's do it I'll watch it I like I [ __ ] love Drive put Ryan Gosling in this I love Ryan you've you've got to see Valhalla RIS okay by Nicholas wiing Griffin it stars uh um mads melson oh [ __ ] love him too he's great yeah man okay imagine him and he's only got one eye and he doesn't say a word through the whole movie and he's a viking all right I me yeah and there's there's no plot there's one thing I dislike about him it's when he

speaks yeah and has two eyes two eyes yeah you know it's funny cuz when he was Leif he [ __ ] oh yeah blood so uh yeah he's good that's a good movie yeah um poster for Bon 25's out now oh yeah it's got Daniel Craig on doesn't give away much yeah got got CRA in a suit on a poster yeah his limbs are all there so that's a spoiler I guess cuz I was worried he was going to lose some limbs that's true from what we'd heard yeah but now he seems intact I'd also I'd also heard that he was being replaced by a black transvesite so who the [ __ ] knows who the [ __ ] knows yeah that was that was an interesting rumor are you allowed to say transvers

anymore that's that sounds like maybe that's not the right term well no I think well that that describes a particular thing doesn't it still a transgender of color right like isn't what gender and what color that's that's up to you uh and again I don't mean to be offensive I believe that Eddie isard describes himself as a transvesti he's a man who dresses as a woman so I think that's what that is okay yeah yeah at multi nasm.com yeah that's right we should probably just not talk about this stuff but I think that's correct no no no I I guarantee you Eddie is identifies as a transvestite um because I've heard him refer to himself as an executive transvestite right because uh apparently when when when he tells people he's a transvest Ty they always go oh one of

those weirdos like that you see in the street and he's like no they're weirdo transvestites I'm an executive transvesti righto oh like OT yeah same yeah uh we've got some Star Wars news yeah just a just a little bit so Nate you can drop off now we're a couple of minutes from the end so we're going to do Star Wars until the end and then we'll catch up in the Afterparty yeah oh Craig Craig Craig CRA Nate [ __ ] loves Star Wars all right well this is for you Nate does he love Rose uh we don't know I'm sure I can't imagine he would Matt I can't imagine he this is interesting and the artist who who who who did these has come out so there's been some uh posters and and artwork leaked early for the new

rise of Skywalker film and Kelly marray trans character Rose featured in the artwork and since then uh in the official artwork that's come out she has been replaced with a weird alien uh in the artwork and so people are questioning what the [ __ ] that's about and worried that Disney is kind of bowing to the uh the trolls basically sure sure I mean that said Matt episode two attack of the Clones didn't have [ __ ] Jar Binks on the poster and that was for very good reason because people didn't like him yeah cuz collectively the entire movieo audience went that was a terrible character and we could do without that in the next one

thanks well apparently the the artists come out and said that the the ones that leaked were Works in progress and uh and there's basically at this point you shouldn't assume anything about why she was wasn't on various pieces of artwork it's not mhm it's probably not what you're thinking they make decisions based on how big her role is in the film when he did the original artwork uh they probably assumed she was going to have a larger role in the film she maybe doesn't have a big role in this film so they doesn't makes you know they don't put her on the posters promly it's it's like you're basically saying it's not because they're worried you know idiots on the internet are going to complain that she's on there there's more to it

than that sure well that may be true but but that's might devil's advocate here well yeah and not only that but the the the artist here Brian Roode great name has uh has says uh he's posted on Twitter look don't worry this is a very early version of the artwork and I'm still waiting on a reference for Rose and other characters as well well I don't know that that's how posters work because this entire thing's colored in it's not like he's just I know it's been released this is the poster oh that's the early one she'll be on the next one yeah I'll paint her in I'll I'll literally walk around to every place this poster is up and paint her in it is a little just the little [ __ ] alien they posted over the top of her I was

like oh God it is very unfortunate if it is an accident or an accident but you know it's just unfortunate it is no accident that uh yeah so I guess I don't expect her Ro to be not Kelly mie tr's fault she did a perfectly good job of a terribly written character seems lovely she's in the [ __ ] film just write her better yeah she seems great I was really happy that everybody cheered her when she was it Star Wars celebration because I I I it's horrible that that she was driven off the internet that's not cool so speaking of uh of trolls Ryan Johnson yeah yeah yeah Ryan Johnson again I love Ryan Johnson too especially after watching that documentary Ryan Johnson it seems really great and I and

I I'm actually I'm interested to see Knives Out uh just because no I'll let you watch that and feedback on the show I don't I I want to see it I want to see it uh but Ryan I mean ever since he made the Last Jedi has been telling us all about his [ __ ] Trilogy that Disney have green lit and even when all the hatred was coming out he was still saying well no hate on me all you want but Disney are giving me a billion dollars to make a Trilogy well he doesn't seem so confident now yeah this is I about this almost I'm definitely doing this two it will be great if this happens yeah well no what uh where's

uh was the the full quote it was something about um oh you know was they're figuring out what they're doing but I'm still working on my own stuff like oh Ryan yeah you don't work for Disney mate poor Ryan I like him go have a drink with George Lucas who's also sad that Disney aren't using his his stuff I like George lik his ideas same so do I so I guess noodles alone in a food court salad he's into salad isn't he oh it's a salad is it okay yeah I think George Lucas eats a lot of salads I've heard that from multiple sources are you saying George Lucas uses multiple sources on his salad yes that's right

yeah yeah so uh so Ryan Johnson maybe not getting another a Trilogy because they've only officially announced the one from the Game of Thrones guys now that's the only one that Disney talking about surprised there being so open about that too because I mean for starters let's see how episode 9 goes you know things haven't been going well for Star Wars no and I mean I told get a little bit over it so I told we I revealed to you guys a spoiler that I had read the other week I'm not going to reveal anymore not going to any spoilers here but the the the person who leaked what I told you has leaked more information and I have read it and if it's true go [ __ ] hell all right I think the movie is going to be

interesting to say the least okay uh and I almost hope it is true just because why the [ __ ] not at this point so because if something's going to die it may as well die spectacularly exactly there are certain aspects of this that I'm like I actually want to see that as [ __ ] stupid as that sounds I want to see it so well look um I'd like to hear about this so off air we can we can discuss this all right very good yeah okay um oh and uh and wedge is back in uh yeah in in episode N9 is the other piece of Star Wars news yeah that's not spoiler apparently because they're just talking about it so no and I look I mean I guess uh we're just not necessarily a household name but he is a character in

yeah I suppose well you know like you've got to really love Star Wars to know who wedge is okay yeah fair enough well we do we do know because we really love Star Wars yeah fair enough well no but I I can guarantee if I went to work tomorrow I was like hey guys what do you guys about wedge yeah stairs yeah fair enough we're Gentiles but you know yeah I'm happy for you know a 91y old man to be brought back into a film so we don't know what he's going to do presumably not a lot cuz he he's an old guy at this point fans fan service is what he'll do he'll walk on or and and guarantee he's like Admiral Antilles or something now he'll blow up

the new Death Star yeah yeah he's like I got this I've blown up [ __ ] two dead stars already did you see uh JJ Abrams himself tweeted a Photoshop oh this is only a couple of months back of um uh it was you know the planet the the Star Killer base from Force awakens but like a bigger one shooting death stars out of it and he just tweeted it with no context [ __ ] hilarious that's great I love that he knows like he knows yeah yeah yeah he [ __ ] knew when he made it that's everyone who says oh he's just remaking he [ __ ] knew what he was doing that's what he was told they were like look make it the same do what we know that they love yeah please speaking of uh thinking things were serious it

just popped into my head the other day that a person thought that our that our Dark Knight Rises trailer that we inserted ourselves into was real and it just made me laugh all over again what that exists on the internet no you know our trailer someone thought it was actually Us in the movie yeah somebody somebody thought we had gotten bit Parts in the movie because they saw a trailer online that featured us superimposed into the background yeah well you did too good a job that's the problem I look I think I did but the the thing is like not only is it fairly implausible that in a Batman movie by Christopher Nolan at one scene there are two Batmans on screen and one is yell punch me in the dick but also in a movie where [ __ ] Anne Hathaway stars as Catwoman why

would they have another character turn to the camera and say oh I a have not Catwoman isue yeah if we've got newer listeners who don't know what we're talking about you can go to multiple nerd Gaz on YouTube and just have a look at uh our own version of The Dark Knight Rises trailer I mean we were when that trailer came out it was the greatest trailer I'd ever seen and I I've never been more excited to see a movie so we just had to insert ourselves into it I've just gone to JJ abrs Twitter and it has been pruned really yeah he's got uh all his tweets are deleted except for like a couple of odds and ends like there's like seven or eight tweets on there and that's it he's got rid of the rest of

them I wonder if uh I know that a lot of people did this um after James gun yeah I bet Disney a rule now if you're working on a movie you delete everything so he's got he's he's following zero people uh and he's just trimmed his tweets right down so I guess is just not a not a big Twitter person I mean he wasn't anyway but yeah there you go so I can't unfortunately can't find the picture that I was talking about but it was very well that's a shame yes um you know where pictures are definitely not allowed you wouldn't be allowed to take photos in in there no people there's there's a non-disclosure agreement that people uh when they accept the terms of
