We had some minor technical issues with this episode which delayed it’s release. If this was the show I’d regret using that sentence. This week we discuss SupaNova and Stan Lee, Star Wars, Watch Doge, The greatest movies of all time and much more!

Dan I uh just want you to know uh that uh probably be the only one who uh will actually do this so I'm just going to make sure uh on my gravestone I would like here lies a man forever unsatisfied even if you hadn't told me that I probably would have come up with something roughly on just we tried to satisfy him with our mouths limbs nothing was ever good enough I don't want to turn a joke into a sad story but I did have to recently sit with my nana and um take down some points that she wanted at her funeral which is probably pending a little more imminently than Dave's but yeah just just quickly Dan you want to give a brief overview of your Nana she uh she doesn't really seem like she wants to be
around she's she's quite a sad lonely and depressed woman thanks for the backstory Dave but um she told me that she wants her idap to be no one can hurt her anymore oh God so God just when you thought it couldn't get more dramatic there you go runs in a family a Dan [ __ ] she's a woman who likes a drama [ __ ] hell that is dark that is dark welcome to multiple nerdgasm your destination for all things nerdy well here we are for another week multiple nasm yada yada y lot's happened uh was on E3 was on uh if you're a nerd uh it uh it was a pretty big couple of weeks yeah where to start look I was at Supernova and I know that a couple of
you were Luke I saw you at one point oh you saw me I did see you but you were too far back because the line Nazi had already set me in my place and I saw you being set in your place um and I yelled out hey [ __ ] but not only did you not hear me but I then made instant enemies of everyone sitting around me I could just PCT you now in the crowded Stadium yelling at hey gripple yeah but the the problem was that the person that I was with turned to me and very casually said oh do you call him [ __ ] because he had cancer and everyone who heard me yell out hey [ __ ] was waiting for me to to answer the question we did the same thing when we were waiting in line and we called out to him and I think Jenny yelled out hey [ __ ] and then everyone
was kind of like huh and I said we're allowed to call him that because he's a [ __ ] yeah that's true I I do answer to it it's been my nickname for God since high school is it I'll say this Luke if if there was a hierarchy of cripples at Supernova you didn't even register on the chart no there were some deformed freaks there uh okay Dam those were just the penalties I'm not talking about the cosplayers there were a lot of cosplayers this year yeah it's getting more and more every year and I'll say if there was a theme for cosplay this year my guess is that theme was tits yeah never a Al I think the theme
was shows Matt's never heard of that's right there was a lot of that there was a lot of that H right so for those of you that don't know super over is like ComicCon here uh mostly about pop culture uh and general garbage that I have no interested in whatsoever um I went last year and hated it uh you got you saw Carrie Fisher that's the and you actually enjoyed that I did enjoy seeing Carrie Fisher she's a very witty woman this year's Carrie Fisher was Stan Lee yeah yeah I think you would have liked him actually from all accounts he seems to be a very nice man so I'm I'm sure I would have liked him but I mean well like Carrie he's just so self-aware he knows who he is and he knows who we think he is yep yeah and he he's his eyes aren't the best and his his ears
aren't the best but his mouth is the best a that's adorable that's adorable the fact that he's so old he's still out there doing what he does that's that's cool he's in his '90s you're kidding he's 91 or 92 now wow and he he he had a pacemaker installed a couple of years ago wow in uh 2010 I think and he this is his first uh and it will be his last trip to Australia he's already said that he's not shy he's not shy joking about it like he's like I I will be dead yeah soon buried next to my nana no no I told you he's not coming back trying to hurt her did anyone ask him if he might resurrect like some of his comic book characters or was that too even if they had he wouldn't have heard the question what well I I I spoke to him briefly because I I lined up to get his
autograph and everything well you talk at him yep no no no well see I'll be honest I was worried I was worried that he he couldn't hear me so I spoke very slowly and and and hello Mr Lee no I did I told him that uh I told him the story of when I was when I was a child I um took my paints that uh I had for you know painting pictures and things and I painted myself green so that I could be the Hulk and he was like fashinating go on and I made a I made a big mess uh and yeah I told him the story and um and he was he was signing my comic at the time and I wasn't I was I was like God I hope you can hear me and then he started laughing and he said you painted yourself green and I was like oh thank God he heard me yeah but he probably didn't hear that when I was a
kid what about yeah on the way here I do like it he probably answered one of the one of the questions you got asked he probably answered it most honestly I've heard anyone else answer a question before it was along the lines of um I've been studying your academically I've been studying a lot of your comics and all this and you got all these moral values behind it and he's and he's s of like why do you do it and his Stanley's answer was entertainment and money yeah yeah yeah yeah he I work I worked for a comic publisher and and if I didn't come up with characters uh I wouldn't have any food yeah so he was quite and it was great he was so casual about that because people are like how did you come up with Spider-Man he's like well they needed another character
so wrote him another character yeah someone someone asked why the villains never die and he's like because they're really hard to imagine up and if I kept killing them off I'd have to imagine up new ones yeah he every time I got a good villain I I don't I don't have to get rid of him so yeah no he was good he was honest and but like in a funny way he wasn't like wasn't like [ __ ] on you know like your childhood or whatever he was funny about it oh that's nice yeah and he was there till late every evening apparently because the line for signatures and photographs and everything was enormous like like 4 hours or something wasn't it yeah we were in line for about 4 hours we were there from when his panel finished at about 2 to about just after 6 we finally
got through I think I went back to say goodbye to Matt on my way out and it looked like a refugee camp of all these sad people sitting against the wall yeah looked like they'd been waiting their days and it had apparently been like that every day that he was there um and he stayed back until around 8 8:30 every night the place closes at 6 he stayed back because he um he said that no he he he's he's put off coming to Australia he's not going to come again and he wants to make sure that everybody gets to say hello and gets gets his signature and everything that's really cool of him that's and for someone of that age too that must be a long [ __ ] day and he apparently he he was not well I think at that age all the days along yeah well they said he wasn't well and
like I said he just had a pacemaker put in a few years ago so he's not like he's he's not well and they literally they'd set him down there and he sat there for 2 hours signing thousands and thousands of things and being polite to people and then they took him away and sat him in a chair and people walked in and they got photos taken with him and then they give him a sandwich and then they bring him back and sit him in the chair again after another two hours and he was there like for three days doing that and let's be honest he doesn't need the money cuz you can't take it with you you know no you can't you can't that's a honest he must honestly just be like grateful or he's just loves doing it well I mean this is a guy who created some of the most loved characters in the
world so should I just say though it's not that hard to come up with a superhero I mean come on I mean well what about a guy that has spider powers that's an animal what about a man has lion Powers you say that but he did he actually did revolutionize them because he came up with characters who were more like Ordinary People people before they were like like the example he used um not specifically for this but it kind of sums up what I was saying was the you know you look at someone like Superman and you can't really relate to Superman and like the way he put it was like you know Superman flies he just flies like there's no you you don't really comprehend how that how that works or anything he just flies but when Thor flies it's because he spins his hammer
so fast that and then throws it that it pulls him along after it you're right he's he's he's a genius no no [Laughter] no no like Spiderman I'm sorry but okay you're going to convince me he's a genius that's not the way to do it I'm not saying that he's a genius I'm saying well I mean his characters like Spider-Man right Spider-Man is a teenager with teenagers problems and like and yet somehow it's interesting well appar well it's apparently more interesting than the other Comics that went before it because it was a huge success and he I guess what my point was he created these characters who were more sympathetic than just these kind of cardboard cutout like I can do everything and I you know you know
they're just generic superheroes he kind of gave them more relatability and he created the comic code and all that kind of business too he did lots of stuff comic code is that the uh one where they could could swear or do drugs or something or yeah yeah because and that's the other thing he said yesterday was someone thank him for censorship as well he's he's done well yeah that wasn't his finest moment but uh no that was that was forced and imposed by the government wasn't it yeah they had well there was there was something before that and it wasn't very good or something like that and he kind of I don't know you know what I don't know that doesn't stop talk about you know what you know what you if you like
Stanley if you like Stanley check it out if not here's some spoilers he'll be dead soon well you uh guys were chilling out at Supernova I was uh eagerly uh watching uh the E3 presentations from Microsoft and Sony um and uh seeing what they had in store for us uh there was a Litany of announcements at E3 um some they're very exciting um and I think they've probably convinced me to get myself uh an Xbox One and a PS4 at some point did you say and yeah yeah yeah yeah there's games on both there's a new Uncharted that I'm like I can't I can't not have my Uncharted um You' played through charted time and time again yeah yeah yeah I played through recharted and now I want Uncharted yeah so that joke will get all one day but turning the genre on its
head or at least onto its feet I guess the most surprising announcement uh from Microsoft uh was the announcement of uh Halo ludicrous Edition um that's ludicrous the rapper yeah yeah yeah yeah you play you play as ludicrous instead of John replace John yeah yeah so uh just a basic overview it's Halo 1 anniversary Halo 2 Anniversary which is remastered new graphics y y y Halo 3 and Halo 4 all at 60 FPS 1080P and it's all one disc and all the playlists can be mixed together so one match you can be playing Halo 1 the next you can be playing Halo 4 the next Halo 2 etc etc and each game also comes with separate achievements so the actual disc is going to give you 4,000 instead of the normal th000 that oh that's the
Clincher for me Luke arbitrary points from Microsoft sold yeah some of that that is still a Thing Luke salivated when you heard I must admit I mean I I am put it bluntly I do I enjoy the law and I enjoy the universe and the games to a certain extent um that's that's that's actually Dave's epap he I say I enjoy the law and I enjoy the universe what um what platform is that on xbx one because I I saw I I didn't realized exactly what it contained I saw that trailer I watched the trailer yeah um which didn't actually tell you anything just it was the cut scene from Halo 2 where he throws the the bomb thing with with a voice over and I was like I don't understand what this is it
was the Arbiter doing the voice over if that's yeah yeah I thought it was James L Jones wasn't it no no it's the it's that black guy that does all those deep voices in everything he's uh James Jones R um maybe you're thinking of Morgan Freeman no no no I'm definitely not that's both of them yeah that's that's them Dave so it looks like uh are you talking about black or and Wells are you talking about blacks and well is there a blacks and Wells I [ __ ] hope there is um because I watched a video of uh I think it was Halo 2 Anniversary Edition and it didn't look that impressive like there there as far as I know there is no video of Halo
2 Anniversary yet I watched something today let me have a look let me let me have a look um why you look I've only seen screenshots of it I haven't actually seen any videos the thing they're actually missing from this pack is the Halo ODST and Halo Reach what about them right well I think they're probably two of my favorite Halo games ODS and reach well and they're not in this pack that's cuz it's called Halo Master Chief Edition and oh yeah he's not games so what do you want you're getting four games for the price of one yeah four games you've already got yeah yeah instead of two other games you've already got yeah but bear in mind the Xbox One sales just absolutely skyrocketed based on this news alone actually Halo 1 I own twice already me to Halo 3 actually I own halo
one three times I got the PC version I got the original Xbox edition and then the anniversary edition so I ear it three times that's s good Lord um I don't I don't really I don't like the Halo games that much so I'm not going to probably going to not buy this get it cuz we're going to play G well here's the thing we say that and if it's actually going to happen maybe I will but look if it's actually actually going to happen then I'll have to jump on board as well but only if it's G and only if it's really going to happen well you know I'll have a lot more time soon so uh that should be good what's that supposed to mean well moving home boys moving home yeah so uh have a have a slight amount of time allocated for actual life now which good
uh looking forward to that now uh did anyone else see anything at E3 that they uh they found interesting or exciting I did I saw um some footage of the Order 1886 I think that's the year it's named um that looked really cool and then I found out it's PS4 exclusive which sucks for me bumer cuz I don't have one but that looks really cool um it's kind of like a alterate history kind of thing where uh there's like love crafting mix with like it's like a gears style shooter I think set in the 1880s with like werewolves and monsters and stuff it looks really cool that sounds right up your Alle M yeah but I won't be able to play it so right that's a bit of a Down but that looks really cool um and
Dragon Age 3 of course and The Witcher 3 both which I'm really excited about they look pretty cool I must admit The Witcher the new Witcher looks pretty incredible yeah did you see watch the trailer where he chases the Griffin although it's not trailer was play yeah yeah it was pretty impressive yeah it's going to be great I was intrigued by Mass Effect 4 yeah yeah now this can't have shepher sheph no it doesn't no it's it's new characters um and I mean as far as I know all the Mass Effect relays blew up didn't they so how's this how's this going to work set before but it can't be said that much before because there wasn't that much before they changed the ending what when no I think they did they
reconned it afterwards when everyone complained but they didn't reccon it all that much did they to that extent Li in the mass are the Mass Effect relays destroyed come on Google here we go they are not real you nerd get aive people are dying yeah so they did did they change that I mean I swear when I replayed it I didn't see them destroy be destroyed this time well then why did the the Normandy crash did the Normandy still crash yes yeah well then they must have right the Citadel and mass relays may not have blown up because the control pulse is more of a signal than a Galaxy changing energy wave I wish I was dead oh that explains everything yeah you know what let's not even let's not even get into that let's just say let's
just move on move on science fiction is great you know why science fiction is great because it doesn't matter what happen it's just like magic that's why yeah exactly well the one thing that they're also doing with the Mass Effect they're not actually going to be um having the old characters in it yeah it's all going to be new because they're saying that everyone wants to have a new story a new universe to explore I don't I want GIS back and I want him back now no I want something that Universe you just want to have bird sex with him again you do I came that close Dan I came that close how did you get the achievement he has to look up achievement in that game I know I went all the way with him and then when it finally came to the time where he was
like okay let's do this I'm like ah no yeah I Jenna remed GIS as well didn't you disgusting H I am a [ __ ] teas or a bird teas as it were beak teas I uh I saw some of the footage of Mirror's Edge 2 uh oh yeah I'm really [ __ ] looking forward to that it looks like it's going to make people vomit I loved the original mirror edge loved it from motion sickness I mean not from yeah yeah and uh there was a couple other games there um Rainbow Six Siege looked looked interesting um that new Tom Clancy one looks interesting it looks really different I was or yeah the division I wasn't expect I was like oh Tom Clancy you'll be like a a well he's dead and he sold his name to um Ubisoft like literally sold his
name so he has nothing to do with any of them right cuz it looks like the last of us but like as a team tactical te tter yeah so that's so I'm sure we'll all want to play that and never get around to it so that'll be good as well um whoes Z we knew was coming but yeah they didn't show a whole lot but that that what they did show which was probably just a pre-rendered scene got me excited anyway oh evidently it's there's no release date for it yet but it's going to be playable at next year's E3 next year's E3 so you're saying in a year and a half maybe two years you'll have Zelda yeah for the Wii U Nintendo this is Nintendo's last console yeah yeah there's no way they can it's a generation behind yeah yeah so it's still an Xbox 360 so imagine how great
the games are going to look in 3 years so pretty much I reckon this will be the last time you see Zelda as a Nintendo exclusive I think it going to go to the way of Sonic and you'll start seeing Zelda and other consoles I think it's inevitable I if they keep losing money in your hand over fist like they are now uh I don't see a good future for them but um to be honest I don't really care cuz I don't really like many Nintendo games at all anyway so there I said it I've never had I don't think anyone does Everyone likes their four games and that's it well I've never finished a Zelda ever you hate Mario Party Mario Party is terrible I hate all their games reward being [ __ ] at it um they they do that's see that's why you don't like them because they're like they're like
fun friendly games whereas your gamer yeah exactly H alien isolation uh that looks fantastic um I saw a guy play it with the Oculus Rift and literally start screaming screaming get get it off get it off get it off cuz I had hot wi and um was singing his hair yeah yeah he was in a lot of pain um he was masturbating get it off the other thing is uh I mean this is not huge huge news but um GTA 5 on nextg consoles yeah that'll be uh that'll be interesting which has anyone else played that no I borrowed your copy if you recall but I haven't played it yet yeah yeah it it was the best out of all GTA but um by the same token I I kind of
lost interest cuz they're too long um I find the stories aren't usually much interest to me I've never finished one yeah yeah I've finished all of them except for one and two well speaking of that a game that's somewhat similar that I've been playing a bit not as much as I probably would like to but I have been playing it a bit uh is Watch Dogs Watch What sorry watch Doge ah watch Doge okay watch do and it's very similar well I think very similar to GTA mhm uh except the story is actually interesting to me right so I'm really yeah so far see I've been playing for a bit and I haven't encountered much of a story yet I must admit I'm still have you been have you just been doing the side quests or have you followed the bit of bit of both and
I the amount of play that I've put into this I usually like to feel a little bit more confident about what I'm doing and I don't really have that I'm like it but I'm not loving it okay I'm one thing I I I found to be lacking in is the side quests there sort of just these random missions I don't feel yeah I've started ignoring them now because I thought I just wanted to start playing through I I don't know how far I am into it I'm up to I know this is it's probably not spoilers uh and it's probably going to prove that I'm not that far in at all I'm up to the prison section oh spoilers um you're probably getting close to finishing the game really it's not a very long game at all if you just focus purely just on the main mission you can knock it over in probably eight
hours I reckon interesting I don't feel like I've been playing it for that long interesting okay well I tell you what it's better than it's better than Wolfenstein New Order oh we go which I traded for Watch Dogs because it watch do now for starters I bought Wolfenstein and it comes on four discs right and I haven't had a game that comes on four discs for a long time I'm talking like days and yes you have to yeah not only that but it had a update that I had to do before I could play it and it was an 8 gab update so there I am trying to delete [ __ ] off my hard drive before I realized even if I deleted everything I don't actually have 8 gig so I had to go and format a portable hard drive and connect it up to
my Xbox so that I could [ __ ] install and play this thing not a good start not a good start at all so by the 3 hours later that I finally got to play this [ __ ] game and found out that it was at best an average shooter Y and not the kind of indepth kind of high concept game that I was looking forward to dude it's set in the future with Space Nazis what no it's not set in the future with Space Nazis it's set in the 60s as if the Nazis had won the war and that could be cool the technology they're using is well beyond the 1960s yeah no but that's what it is it's like if in the 40s the Nazis hadn't stopped doing all their experiments hadn't stopped working on all their technology and stuff 20 years
later where would they have been well I think I think that's a a gross overestimate of their capabilities but all right go on science fiction science fiction but it was just Bing it was just no it didn't it got horrible reviews it had a great trailer um well Metacritic says it's it's an a average of 80 something really the as soon as I started hating it I thought this can't just be me Can it have I just gotten this wrong and I just Google for reviews and and the kind of the first ones that I started reading were you know why it's not what you think it is and it it certainly wasn't so I traded it I took it in the guy's like finished already and I said no it's just [ __ ] so yeah I I agree with you I haven't traded mine in I still have my
copy and I'm really struggling to try and play it wait Luke you have it on Xbox One and Dan you've got it on Xbox 360 that's why you got four discs yeah correct right okay how often did you have to change discs too often [ __ ] hell for example like having an Amiga I was like if I was playing on the second disc for example and I saved and quit then the next time I would go in I would start to open it up it would say insert dis one I would take out dis 2 put in dis one let the game boot and then it would immediately before I started playing say oh insert this to that's what you're were up to and it's like [ __ ] you [ __ ] you yeah Jesus yeah that's so Wolstein New
Order thumbs down thumbs down from Dan [ __ ] hell so the gun playay wasn't fun there was nothing redeeming about it no it was uh by the Numbers shooter absolutely by the numbers now there was some kind of charming Throwbacks to the original Wolfenstein game but quite honestly I'd rather just go back and play that which I do from time to time do you brother do you eat roast chickens by stepping on them you do there are roast chickens around steing dogs attack you they're are nice little nice little tiin but there's a couple little Easter eggs like once you get to your hideout you can actually go to sleep and you actually play through a level of the original Wolfenstein oh yeah I forgot to say something about Watch Dogs when we were talking about it I probably too
quickly seg segue into the next bit but there was uh a bit of a debacle with some uh poorly thought out publicity for watchdogs here in Australia um oh yeah so if you will allow me to uh just read out this article here uh with Ubisoft hoping to manipulate the media they naturally in an unprecedented age of security Consciousness and fear of terrorism decided to send an unmarked safe to a 9 MSN journalist with a cryptic note that alluded to a voicemail message that he had not received having tried a couple times to enter a code into the safe the device started ticking and Intrigue rapidly turned to fear the management right the police who in turn called the bomb squad which resulted in the 9 MSM team and numerous other companies in the
building being evacuated when the box was finally defused by the bomb squad it revealed a copy of the game and some promotional material oh my God who thought this was a good idea now just to put it into context also somebody was supposed to ring him the night before and tell him that he was expecting this thing but somebody didn't get through and nobody bothered following it up so it was just out of the blue secondly there was no indication before you got into this thing that it was a promotion for watchdogs or a game at all that it was anything other than a mysterious safe and thirdly they didn't send it to a specific game reviewer it was just one of the journalists at NM s that's ridiculous Jesus now one thing I find very strange in the article is you
actually said that they did try and punching random codes they did yeah yeah so why why would you have done that yeah it contained a copy of the game a baseball cap and a beanie well the bomb squad got something out of it yeah yeah imagine the bomb squad is like what's what's a watch Doge what the hell is this it's a game where you're just watch dogs oh God why is it in a safe though what's that got to do with the Gamez a hacker things yeah oh you hack things by getting a phone call and opening a safe it sounds well the PR Company are obviously a bunch of retards like even if I was expecting Watchdog promotional materials I wouldn't I wouldn't get a safe and be like Oh that'll be watch dogs like yeah I wouldn't know what it was if I was you know it could like if I
was receiving things like this regularly I wouldn't have known what that was so just imagine that you had no idea what this was and add that to it yeah Jesus yeah even once it was open you were like what is this yeah [ __ ] hell well another bit of news um our dear beloved Harrison Ford um has uh severely injured himself uh on the Millennium Falcon spoilers yeah yeah so uh just so uh we're clear the Millan Falcon obviously is in the new film well we know it's in there because people were tweeting those pictures of um of them building it and then JJ Abrams himself tweet a picture of it was a picture of a piece of paper that said I'm sick of people trying to convince you that the Millennium Falcon is in this film and the paper was on top of
theic chess board yeah in the Millen from the Millennium Falcon yeah it's it's clearly in the movie yeah must be from what it says here Harrison Ford suffered a broken ankle and possible chest injuries now he's not a young man anymore so uh that's got to hurt he's no stanlee no no so um well it would hurt anyway yeah well it's just it's it takes a longer to heal when you're older than it does when you're younger the man got the man survived a nuclear explosion in a fridge he that's true true true true I showed someone at work hadn't ever seen that before we were discussing this actually this Harrison Ford being injured and they he said oh he shouldn't do action movies anymore and I said oh he did you know that Indiana Jones film
and he said I haven't seen that was it any good and I said let me show you and I showed him that scene and he laughed and said I won't be watching that that that's the best scene in the movie so if he hated that so bad let's not even go there Jesus so bad [ __ ] um are they gonna make another Indiana Jones or is that it well there were rumors obviously they maybe nothing that that the only reason he agreed to do Star Wars is because they said that he could do another one another Indiana Jones but who [ __ ] knows um anyone SE any movies yeah I saw one the b in the star oh did you yeah I saw it what's the called l oh my God Luke Luke you were on
a date weren't you buddy no I was not wait you went to see that by yourself wait you saw the Fault in Our Stars uh is that because a woman made you Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share in a serbic wit a disdain for the conventional and a love that sweeps them on a journey their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg and they meet and fall in love at a cancer support group Luke you are a [ __ ] what the [ __ ] are you watching this I think we found the name of this episode his what leg goodness me Luke is this a movie about you buddy it really felt like that a but he dies in the end though right he dies in the end Sor I had
a but you did wow that's in the trailer cuz I would never watch it's based off a book by the numbers I love that it's not a spoiler it's based on a book so is Game of Thrones Dave that can be your catchphrase from now on when people at your work start giving you [ __ ] for not caring about spoilers oh [ __ ] hell did you like it Luke yeah take us through it buddy no don't take us through it but just do tell us if you liked it if you like movies it's all right if you're going to see it go and see yeah if you're not going to see it he dies at the end you are the carington if you're going to go and see it go and see it if not he dies at the end I didn't enjoy it no nobody I know has enjoyed it okay right so to sum up
you're you he dies in the end I didn't enjoy it pretty much yeah how many stars uh I'll go half a star oh goodness out of 10 you knew exactly what was going to happen out of 10 just arbitrarily half a star out of 37 yeah make it out of 100 knock yourself out and that's a terrible score SS are generally out of five I think aren't they traditionally out of 10 Stars so I don't know what does a movie ticket cost these days like 1850 it was 18 about 1850 okay what would you rate it out of 1850 what would you have paid for it that's going to be our new R for yeah okay I maybe would have paid two bucks okay so we rated $2 out of1 1850 yeah not a good score it's about around about
10% so I SP St I spent 1850 this week on uh X-Men Days of Future Past I saw that as well y I would probably have that up around the $10 yeah I'd go higher than 10 I quite enjoyed it h i could have watched that yeah you'd like it I mean I find the kind of the Retro X-Men much more interesting than the Contemporary ones so most of the film is set in the 70s which is great um I will say that when you see the the present and future characters like storm and Bishop they look ridiculous like really costumes look great in a comic book they look a bit stupid in a film unless they're done really subtly like so when they're back in the 70s and everyone's just got a leather jacket and flares on and they're using their powers it's great and it's
really fun and then cuts to Bishop looking like a bit of a weirdo I don't know I just I don't really buy it what was lacking for me in that movie was I wanted to see more of the action in the present or the future than cuz as you said most of it was set in the past but I reckon that would have been a better story with the future I love the the paycheck that Ellen paage would have got for just sitting there holding your hands apart that's right she didn't have a big role but that's fine by me um I will say Quicksilver is my new favorite character and I don't know if you agree Luke but that one sequence that he's in is [ __ ] fantastic yeah and that was my favorite scene in the whole movie what the hell is a quick it's a character
what do he do he runs fast goes really fast and I know that sounds lame but honestly it is an amazing sequence right so he's the flashh basically is The Flash he's the flashh but blue he's even got the lightning Bol on his chest you're kidding no wow well hang on which one came first I think the flash is incredibly old isn't he yeah I'd say the flash H I'm sure if you type it into Google some nerds already researched it so uh let's just not do that though he's not in the costume in this though uh as I was saying it's you know don't have costumes if you hated all the previous ones would you like the new one well did you even did you hate the roseburn one as well I
liked Rose Burn um as was still a bad film but I liked Rose Burn no I there's no Rose Burn in this one no there's not and if you didn't like first class you won't like this one because they're very similar right yeah right well I did like First Class A Lot you will like this one a lot I would assume good I wish I had a seen first class before seeing this one yeah it this one is quite Relentless in not giving you background information not just on first class but on the original X-Men Trilogy as well yeah uh in fact a couple of times I was watching it I had kind of wished that I had brushed up on them before coming to see it uh just okay cuz I went to see a few guys in cber here and we get there and
guy goes oh by the way um yeah to actually enjoy this you need to have seen all the other movies and I'm yep I sort of skipped a couple of them yeah I'm sure I'll pick it up it overrides the story line of a few though because of the time travel H well they actually had to change who went back in time oh for God's sake it it's oh [ __ ] why do you guys watch this trash originally awful in the comics it's the Ellen P's character who goes back in time but because they' made her Ellen Page she would have been too young not only that that's true oh but not only that did you feel Luke that this movie had tailored who its main characters were around who is the
biggest bank ball Stars right now yes do you know what I mean like out of this entire wealth of X-Men characters that we've seen it's like okay who's really big right now okay these guys okay who's kind of big okay well they'll be in it a little bit who's not really big at all let's not even include them right just sounds [ __ ] I'd say h Berry just scraped in then yeah yeah in my book she barely scrapes into anything yeah yeah I think she did a dash with the third one as far as she did Dash she aan saying you've done she did her dashh from what I heard she was very argumentative and so they um reduced her role uh because she was annoying them and now she was probably just begging for work what is she in
anymore thankfully not much yeah I don't know I don't know that she was in that good gotha that was a good movie but that's uh that's old is that the one where he uh her husband the fat guy turns out to be the guy I didn't want to spoil it for anyone I hope it is I hope that's I hope that's the twist yeah and then in the end you find out that her husband the fat guy turns out is the guy he was a guy I didn't want to ruin it so is that the movie man I don't know it's the one she's in the mental hospital oh no this is not the film okay so there's another hry film where her husband's a fat guy and he does the thing that he shouldn't be doing so uh look out for that one tax fraud it's tax fraud isn't it yeah it's
tax fraud yeah something by Spike Lee oh speaking of uh pointless senseless films got some more news here Dan well somebody's been uh tampering with a spreadsheet but um Roland Emer is rebooting Stargate now everything's getting rebooted so it's not a surprise that Stargate is on the list it is surprising that the original director of the original film has put his hand up to do the Remake yeah that seems a bit weird that isn't that just like like tacitly saying I made a [ __ ] film and I want to make a new one but but but Stargate is not a [ __ ] film notic film in fact if I was him just to be a [ __ ] I would exactly the
same exctly same get Kurt Russell back get him back yeah I mean I don't know if what's the um this is the new Stargate stop you there what's the guy who's not Kurt Russell who's in that James sper sper yes Spader couldn't play that role now he's a little too robust for it he's got fat and bald after um Boston Legal didn't he he's Ultron is um Kurt Russell still dating Goldy horn are they still together I don't know if they were dating I think they got married with kids don't they yeah that's what I thought I thought they were like together I don't know are we doing celebrity gossip on this podcast well I just think that it's nice if they're still together it's yeah that's true it would be nice let's look it
up that's not um yeah according to this they're um there you go yeah theyve been together since 1983 so well there you go look at that love love K last lovely there you go it's it's their own Hollywood movie isn't it really yeah I guess it's uh just proof that some people just don't know when to walk away oh intense H right well some more celebrity news uh Neil Patrick Harris is written an autobiography strange considering he's so young but uh he's not he just looks young okay how old is NE Patrick Harris how old do you think he is he's older than us I I think he's in his 40s I know I will find out right now he's 41 yeah you can't write an autobiography in your 40s

kudos to him I say kudos to him good on him now uh there's something that being wanted to talk about for a couple of weeks but strangely enough it keeps getting pushed to the next spreadsheet every week uh we're out of time anyway thanks I [ __ ] feel like uh what's he call him on that show he never gets to yeah that's the one see Dan knows what I'm talking about I know what you're talking buddy anyway uh for those who don't know uh do you guys remember the TV series Millennium with Lance Ron oh love Millennium fantastic series um there is a group on the internet called backof Frank black.com and they are trying to get a movie uh made now now are these industry bodies is this a production company or are these just fans who just fans now what they've managed to do is not only
have a consistent podcast with Lance henriksson on it oh uh and all the cast from the show we they've released a book of an academic um a series of academic journals based on the TV show just about exploring the TV show its narrative uh its meanings that kind of stuff they released a book it's called back to Frank Black it's a really good book I I bought a copy um that I've been reading it it's it's a really awesome um sort of in-depth analysis on the show on its themes um it's really really good uh and they seem to be getting closer and closer to somehow getting a movie made because now Chris Carter's on board and wants to do it wow uh Lance Henri's on board wants to do it now it's just the the will of the fan base to let Fox know that they want to see this film so oh so
who owns the rights oh okay it says here oh just read it to yourself man I said it's fox go to the website write a letter let Fox know that you really want to see this film because I really really really really want to see this film cuz I was going to say why don't they just do a Kickstarter and then I answered it myself in my head by saying they don't own the rights and people have been caught out with that before yeah yeah so um if you do go and register on this uh petition I guess it is um just make a little note to make it more like the first season and less like the third season yeah yeah that uh Chris was not happy when he got back after the second season what did you do to my show he asked see I thought the second season was fine it was a different show to the
first season but then I thought the third season was the weakest of them all well the third season was the weakest because they tried to bridge The Narrative gap between the first and the second season and try and make it back to what origin was without addressing any of the stuff that was in the second season which was just it just went back to being a procedural yeah yeah see the see it was funny because um interestingly enough uh Morgan and Wong who took over their home for season 2 they were told by Fox you have to take the show in a different direction it's too dark it's too depressing and we're losing viewers so fix it funny because I do love the way that Morgan and Wong write I love their writing but it face above and beyond was the best
sci-fi series ever on television like those guys are really talented but they weren't right for millennium and if Fox had not been a bunch of [ __ ] see if you made Millennium now and made it dark and gritty like the first season like and really depressing it would be hugely popular it was just so ahead of its time in so many ways yeah it really was for the 90s definitely I mean their episodes had this kind of demented sense of humor that I really did like but it was a departure and it did kind of throw the show off its access even LS said there were two episodes that were written by uh Morgan's brother um and that were the really crazy ones the one about sosop which was based on Scientology and the one with the with the demons in the donut shop um really clever episodes
brilliant writing um but yeah it's just it's the narrative tone of the show changed too much um it delved towards conspiracy and that kind of stuff it's getting a bit too xfiles if you ask me but um fantastic show overall uh highly recommend people watch it um and go to backof Frank black.com and uh and do what you got to do because I really really really want to see a movie well speaking of movies Empire magazine has just come out with its uh its definitive list of the greatest films of all time they uh pulled 250,000 of their readers uh and this is not critics this is just people that buy empire magazine so just film fans of All Sorts I want to be surprised I'm not going to click this link look I'm going to take you through some and and let's
just let's just weigh in on how we think is there a film is there a film called necro on there probably um H let's see it's not the top 10 but I'm sure it's the top 100 that's surprising yeah look I'm I'm going to choose a bit of an arbitrary spot on here and and start counting back okay okay so I'm going to start at number 23 and I've only started here because I was going to start at 25 and then I noticed that 23 is really where it gets going so so at number 23 we've got the Matrix now for me personally The Matrix 23 doesn't seem quite high enough I [ __ ] love this F I would agree not not so much the sequels but yeah that first film was fantastic this one doesn't take sequels sequels are written as they are so
you'll see sequels on this list stand alone so when it says the Matrix you can assume it means the Matrix this the first one y yep 22 2001 of Space Odyssey oh yeah yep fair enough it's great movie 21 alien okay yeah yep y 20 Apocalypse Now now this must be one of my top five favorite movies and it's one of those movies where I like it more every time I see it so there's always something new to see isn't it it really is yeah um and if you haven't seen uh a filmmaker's apocalypse uh hearts of Darkness the making of Apocalypse Now you should go out and watch that it's just as good as the film Amazing it absolutely is and it's made by cober's wife and uh who was there watching him slowly go insane in the jungle Jesus 19 we've got
aliens two two spaces High alien that's my favorite film of all time I uh I fully yep that's F okay see I still prefer alien to aliens really no no no aliens okay 18 Jurassic Park yeah for sure great movie mhm 17 Back to the Future yes good not a fan but I understand why people love it y yeah I remembered that there was one of us who didn't like Luke do you like Back to the Future I like Back to the Future yeah back to the future is great I just can't get [ __ ] that sitting in that town car in La all on the way to Santa Monica you guys just would not shut up about [ __ ] Back to the Future and that Russian driver was like my sister likes this movie like yeah and his sister's probably
hot number 16 the Avengers now I liked the Avengers but it's not better than Back to the Future Jurassic Park aliens Apocalypse Now And The Matrix who the [ __ ] voted that in number 16 The Avengers whatever number 15 Godfather 2 The Godfather Two mhh only sequel to ever win an Academy Award 14 Fight Club yeah for sure y 13 Good Fellas good movie not one space better than Fight Club h no no but maybe we're a bit young maybe there's a generation above us I think I think we just missed out on the whole Good Fellas thing number 12 Lord of the Rings Return of the King what no that's what I would say is the absolute weakest of the Ring
films yeah okay right well maybe there'll be some further up number 11 Blade Runner okay yep yep y l Blade Runner number 10 Inception liked Inception not better than blade [ __ ] off Inception [ __ ] off it's not in the top 10 for me definitely not I liked it but it's not in the top 10 Jesus I wouldn't even go top 50 [ __ ] hell well one above it at nine Raiders of the last AR Big C it's one of my favorites that's fine that's fine number eight Jaws so we've got two Spielberg back to abely yeah well Spielberg's a great filmmaker I might have flipped those I think they're both great and I might have put Raiders above Jaws but there you go tell me saving privates on there somewhere oh it's probably somewhere but I don't think we'll hear
it I don't think it's in the top 10 Jesus we're down seven now Fellowship of the Ring what really really that's far too high it is far too high isn't it lot of young people must be voting all right you think the kids are watching Fellowship of the Ring you know that movie is 14 years old is it seriously 14 years old it is isn't it what year did it come out it was like 2000 right yeah yeah it's been a while they came out when we lived in Eastwood it's an old movie oh my God so we are so [ __ ] old guys that's we worked at Gateway that long ago oh my God that was like another life number six Star Wars okay yep cool
definitely Star Wars number five pop fiction yep I like fiction and when I saw it when I was like 15 it changed the way I watched movies so do think it belongs up there maybe not Reservoir Dogs Star Wars I do agree with that Dave I do think Reservoir Dogs is better number four the Sha Shank Redemption Now Matt you've seen this for the first time very recently Haven yeah I did yeah whoa whoa back up really Matt yeah yeah what' you think I liked it it's great yeah I've never heard someone describe the sh Shank Redemption is yeah I liked it it's great it was it was great it's one of those moves I can watch again and again I agree Luke I completely agree in fact you have to because they always put it on yeah that's true I think even um
uh Frank darbon was saying that um because he still gets checks from it and he said he just makes all his money off sh Shank Redemption because it's constantly on cable yeah right yeah it's a good movie yeah it is a good movie because you're working through the uh Stephen King database at the moment aren't you yes yes we are yeah yeah we watched Misery the other week wait actually this is what yeah short sh Redemption is based on a Stephen King story yeah you're kidding yeah no no that I did not know I knew that before I'd seen it wow Bravo Stephen King he writes a lot of trash but sometimes he's got some gold um it's funny because uh four and five sh Shank Redemption and PP fiction I actually saw sh Shank Redemption pul fiction and Neil Jordan's The Crying
Game as a movie marathon when I was about 15 and that was an intense night and three films that contain male and male sodomy There's the link there did they advertise it that way I went with my dad so that was uncomfortable oh the viewing not the [Laughter] sodomy all right moving on down the list we're now at the top three o you want to hear what the top three films according to Empire magazines 250,000 fans yeah I suppose definitely number three The Dark Knight w now let me just point out a few films that the Dark Knight is ahead of Star Wars R of the last AR Blade Runner fight sh Shank Redemption yeah Jurassic Park 2001 and look look there's plenty of
films that are look we started at 23 but between 23 and 50 we've also got Terminator 2 um the usual suspect citizen C comes in at 33 I die hards at 39 taxi drivers at 44 I really enjoyed the Dark Knight but it is the third best movie of all time thank you Matthew I'm not saying it's a bad movie but it does not deserve it's it might be the best movie where a car explodes into a bike but yeah I dare say it wouldn't well it's just above number two which is a bit of a classic The Godfather okay it's one of those movies that I think people admit to liking rather than admitting to seeing never seen it yeah never seen it I I have and I do like it it's a great movie it's a classic um but I don't know number two
on the all time list really come on you guys want to know what number one is you going to has it a guess I'd like everyone to guess it's in the link so all right so we all know it's The Empire Strikes Back yeah I I love The Empire Strikes Back but I don't know if it's the best film of all time for starters I don't like it as much as I like Star first film I like it's my favorite Star Wars film definitely look look look let's be honest you can't arbitrarily rank art and if we all sat here and came up with our own list it would be just as highly contested yeah I guarantee the people that the people that that answered this question were like oh what have I seen recently that I liked oh Avengers was good and then they also throwing movies that they think they
should have seen and put that on there as well like flew over to Cuckoo's Nest oh yeah was that on was that on there yeah just looking at list now that came in at 41 okay now I'm going to that's going to be like one those ones that people think they should watch yeah even out of the four of us who who has seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest I have I've seen it yeah I've seen it yeah I haven't okay so three out of four that's not too bad I'm not that you have to have seen that no it's a good movie though Lawrence of Arabia oh you never seen it The Usual Suspects seen that what's that Lawrence of Arabia Lawrence of Arab I haven't seen that I'm telling I've SE Usual Suspects oh right yeah yeah yeah I've seen both of them it's a good film it
doesn't I love it here look can I just point this out number seven Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring number 12 Lord of the Rings Return of the King that's questionable anyway number 46 Lord of the Rings The Two Towers that's number 46 what they were not good movies hey I watched the special editions recently they are good movies they weren't great movies but I do agree that the one that's number 46 is probably the better of the three oh what gravity's at 35 now I love this film but it does not belong in the top 50 films SK Skyfall Skyfall is on there and no other Bond films are on Skyfall that was terrible I liked it it terrible but I liked it but it wasn't the one prev other but it still wasn't very good there are a number of other what is
the best Bond film what is everybody here's favorite Bon film I'm interested the original Casino mine's Casino Royale mine's Casino Royale without a doubt maybe um I can't remember the name of the one the first one with blow Feld um do I genuinely do like on her majesty Secret Service of course you do course you do followed only by Never Say Never Again Never Say Never Again that's the one where he comes back right which back it's a remake of um what's the one where Sean connory pretends to be Japanese and um they do his twice yeah and they do his eyebrows brilliant so that he looks Asian Jesus Christ it's ridiculous it's
ridiculous has anyone seen Magnolia yes what's it about uh it's about a whole it's it's it's one of those movies that there are separate story lines that kind of converge into one um I love that Schindler's List is after the big leowski 24 the big lowski 25 Schindler's List yeah I think Schindler's List is a beautifully crafted film and 26 Casa Blanca like yeah I put it to you has anyone here seen Casablanca I have yeah I don't think I have I'm going it's not that good like I'm sure in 1935 when it came out highly overrated yeah like it's one of those movies that if you don't have Nostalgia for it and you watch it now it's really not that
good Forest Gump 34 theow and then list I love this it's such a funny combination 39 Die Hard 40 It's a Wonderful Life awesome Jesus [Music] Christ so remember a couple episodes ago I was pointing out for people to give me ideas for new tattoo he was putting out yep yep yep yep well had a few people give some ideas did you yeah any of them people who wrote Into the podcast yeah yeah they're on Facebook they're on Facebook yeah we have a Facebook yeah we do yes all right luk take us through some of the entries okay so one of them is um I'll go with I'll go with the Mao set first someone put an idea maybe I should get a MAO Set Tattoos on my actually quite
like tree H but one that's sort of trumping at the moment I think would have to be winning is Sonic the Hedgehog skull [ __ ] Cur and sh please tell me you're getting that one please tell me you're getting that one it is very very tempting but I don't I still don't think even if that was the scenario of having I still just couldn't have her on my body I just like how or listens to her podcast and you know what I I miss you buddy I'm going through the list here and all of the entries involve skull [ __ ] in some way no no it's because you know why it's because the skull [ __ ] um answer was submitted and then everybody else went well I had an idea it's not as good
though wins that is our audience yeah well you know what if you don't think skull fucking's funny maybe you shouldn't listen to this podcast all right I'm going to hit stop and say this great okay hitting stop oh dear that's all for this week thank you for listening and we hope you enjoyed the show if you enjoyed it then please subscribe and items to receive episodes automatically we'll see you next time
