welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt it's a bit ay so I don't really understand it Luke is that a little sashwat penis danam I accidentally got soap in my urethra and sometimes Dave you don't understand how sick it makes me feel the fact that I wanted to have sex with my own daughter and occasionally Terry smallo maybe you wake up in the middle of the night with a little sashwat panus inside of you multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy that's the sync of all three of us being on highspeed

connections I have an erection now so uh now let's begin High spe connection sounds like like a dating site for race car drivers yeah or jockeys find your true love on the highp speed connections so what do you guys been doing this week me Batman ah you've been doing you've been doing Batman I've been doing Batman you don't do Batman Batman does you and when we have a bit of breather from Batman doing me I've been playing the game as well he Ducks off to uh to Goth City yeah mhm um well you haven't just been doing that we uh we came down to visit you this weekend Jenner and I and and Jordan yes um Jenna sister we went down to CRA and

we visited Luke and we played a game that I would like to discuss briefly okay it's called put your keys in the bowl and everyone goes home with a stranger it's called drawful oh God that was a fun game it's by the people who make you don't know Jack that quiz game mhm mhm and it's uh it's basically uh we had like five people playing you you start out and you name yourself and you draw a little picture of yourself and it goes on the screen and then each you play on your moob on your phone or your tablet right so the the um the Xbox will load up and it will say go to this URL and the room code is this four-letter code so you on your phone you go to the website type in

the code and then you play the game on your phone looking at the screen yeah y yeah it's cool and so you draw pictures on the phone right and so it'll come up and it'll say something like um like what was one of the ones I got um a booger with legs is one of the ones I got and um some of them some of them it's it felt to me like I don't know if it's because we got drunker as it went on but it felt to me like they got a lot harder uh I don't know some of them were really easy and then others were I don't know what this is technically boulder dash if anyone played that old board game I haven't but it might be that sounds the same but with definitions of words and you you got to guess what word means but you can also Bluff so that people pick yours yeah

yeah okay it is like that I guess except yeah you technically have no confirmation of what it actually is right until the end anyway so yeah it's pretty fun and um it was a great night we instead of going out cuzz we I plan to take everyone out go into reload bar which is a computer game bar thing in canra but we just started playing that started drinking and we did not want to leave I should clarify I said it was pretty fun it's not pretty fun it's awesome I realized I just I did not do it credit with pretty fun it's great so um I mean it's part of a uh a pack on the Xbox which uh what else is in that pack Luke uh fibbage which is sort of the same game except it comes up with a um just comes up with the

question and then everyone has to try and write in an answer that they think other people will guess yeah that was pretty good too that was a good game and then there's oh just a normal Quiz Game Y which is up to four plays and then there's a couple other games which I haven't really played when you're drawing on your phon it's coming up on the TV screen is that what you mean yeah no well it does but you submit it like you draw and then you submit it and then it'll it'll dis like one after the other you kind of it'll pop one up and then it'll say what is this and then everyone types A Thing unless you drew it and then it yeah and then afterwards it'll display all the options and you have to choose which one you think it is and the person who uh if if someone

picks your incorrect one you get some points but if you drew the picture and they choose the right answer that means you drew well I guess so you get points and they get slightly less points because obviously it would you know because you want to win if you got it if you drew well so nice it's like the uh when you come back to Australia we're playing it done done and done well if it's mobile I'll just play it from here well we thought that maybe we could play via Skype because you need to see the screen of the Xbox though yeah right probably better in person I guess sure y yeah sounds like the new age equivalent of playing charades after a dinner party yeah probably true I it reminded me what it is it reminded me if

remember the game uh what was the the the Christian game we used to play oh the wrath of God um I think it was just called the Old Testament yeah okay I don't know remember chanting an Xbox game that was a Bible quiz with side missions right yes and we used enter really offensive names for our characters yeah you could be winning and then the wrath of God would just send a plague to you and you would lose that's right that's that's real life kids so we used to get drunk and play that a lot so good God I miss getting drunk all the time and playing games with you guys a I know it sounds like you guys are still and the other stuff well not very often no is it the is time true it's probably the first time

we've done that in years last time we did it was probably uh Mario party yeah yeah at Carl's house or something yeah well yesterday I went to Universal Studios ah how is it over there great because you've been to the one in La I have I've been to California and now I've been to the Singapore one it's a lot newer uh so some of those can feel a little dated whereas this one didn't have that dated feel that said it's not nearly as big and it's not attached to a real studio right well neither is yeah the one in um in Florida is not attached to the studio either so it's a bit it's a bit different it's probably more like that but do you know how the one in tell me if this is the same in Florida but in California you go on a tour and they

kind of point out the New York set for example yeah in this there's a section of it that is New York and you walk through it and there's attractions within that yes yeah it's more like that yeah yeah yeah uh it was great loved it love that H day would have been worth it just for the Transformers ride oh Transformers 3D when in America they were building that at the Universal Studios over there so we didn't get to go on it I went on it so good yeah I wonder you think it was as good as I think it was is it is it the same where you kind of you get in a in like a fake car and it's uh I can't remember why but um but I mean I I assume it's the same it's hard to describe it's basically the Decepticons are trying to kill you and

and you trying not to die because well do anything you sit in the car uh yeah this sounds slightly different but I'm sure it's the same premise but it's basically one of those things that they developed in the '90s where you you sit in a chair and happens around you but this is just the absolute best version of that I've ever seen like you know you got picked up and thrown and if if you didn't know you were in a chair you know you'd question your own sanity like this was so well done now I didn't know the backstory of it because I had the express pass so I skipped all the cues I was going on all these rides and not actually knowing the backstory what The Mummy ride and there's this mommy going give me the book and I'm

like I don't know what book and honestly I don't have the book man I've got no idea what you're talking about yeah I like as well I mean this is the same with all of those rides is you get to the end of the ride and Optimus Prime is there like thank you you have helped save the world the world you're an honor aut I didn't do anything I I just sat here in this car and tried not to die yeah yeah I literally had a grin on my face the whole time though yeah I'm looking forward cuz I'm going to go next year mhm over to the states so I'll go I'll get finally get to go on that ride y they've got another new one at uh oh the Harry Potter stuff at um at at Florida not we've been on the you've been on some of the Harry Potter

stuff but not the new Harry Potter stuff well I'm looking forward to by the time we go next year they will have uh Star Wars Land open hopefully hopefully true at Disney mhm well they're just replacing future land which was is that what they're doing tomorrow land they're just going to they're replacing that tomorrow land felt like 5 years ago land I know tomorrow land now like the house of tomorrow basically like you've got an iPad and I'm like yeah I do have an iPad taking a photo with it now yeah I'm filming you telling me about it on my iPad yeah but uh so but they just made a movie about Tomorrowland like yeah does anyone know even what that is no I just saw posters for it and I went a it looks like

something I don't want to care about yeah I haven't even heard of it uh I might watch it for research if if the listeners want yeah look of all the Disney movies coming out this year that's that's not even on my radar I'm not even going to watch it even if even if the listeners want me to no I heard it wasn't very good so told all right well uh God what do we what do we want what do we want to dig into this um did you guys hear about the crap happening at Reddit probably not look uh I I I didn't and then I tried to read an article about it and I didn't really understand much of what was going on Matt so why don't you take us through it all right well if you're a fan of Reddit uh as a

lot of of people on the internet are uh you'll know that they have uh a section called um I am um which is um ask me anything I am so and so ask me anything orever the they ended up with that specific URL but basically cele two dicks ask me anything yeah so celebrities and and just people of Interest guys with two dicks go on there and they go look I've got two dicks ask me some questions or ask me anything and generally it's not anything it's almost anything because they won't answer certain things but anyway people come on they ask a bunch of question about the second dick Jesus yeah I just want to talk about my primary dick um the to be fair I focus mostly on my primary

dick so that as as you can imagine on the internet that normally turns into a huge cluster and apparently a big part of of managing all that uh was a person called Victoria Taylor who worked for Reddit um uh based in New York she was and well still is asan getting old timey based in New York she was just I talk I don't know what you mean anyway so the celebrities often would go in to her office there uh and they would she would ask the questions they would answer she would type because oh okay because uh for a number of reasons she's a good typer she's good at I guess communicating with celebrities and handling them because as as we've discussed certain celebrities can be a

handful so she apparently she was very good at all that stuff uh and also um she had to verify that it was them because in the past uh they had people who were not the celebrities doing amas and then the publicist for the for the celebrity being like whoa whoa whoa shut that down like that is not my client so um so apparently she did she did a really really awesome job uh people were a huge fan of her you know like just people users of the website in general were big fans of her uh and she all also helped a lot of other moderators on Reddit um look after their sections CU there's I mean if you don't know what Reddit is it's kind of like this ridiculous online community where you can have a section

for anything and it's come under a lot of flak uh for kind of allowing a lot of stuff that's illegal or questionable or whatever because you really could just go on there and start a uh a section of the website about anything like be it you know um breakfast cereal or uh My Little Pony or child pornography or you know anything and uh and they they did shut down a lot of the the last thing that I mentioned recently thank godh um but uh racism and bigotry and things uh it gets a lot of flak for kind of allowing but people have made the argument well if you censor it then off it's like it

on the internet put up with racism is something we have to do as a society and the internet is no different yeah and it it loses its value if you just censor everything so um anyway apparently she she helped out with a lot of other sections with their moderation all that kind of stuff um and the other day uh she was fired with no explanation uh apparently she doesn't even really know why uh and Reddit did not tell anybody about it uh she just was not there anymore and so a lot of people were really confused and angry about it in particular the other moderators on Reddit who um apparently have been complaining that their job is very hard anyway um and so a lot of

really really popular subreddits uh just closed down they set themselves to private and they said sorry we're shutting down um in par well AMA shut down um and I think there's a list on here of a lot of the bigger ones um art ask Reddit books gadgets gaming history AMA life Pro tips movies music videos jokes documentaries listen to this data is beautiful whatever that is uh today I learned which is a very big one um DIY and funny so and I'm sure a lot more but those are all I mean they're pretty big sections read it and uh them shutting down definitely would have a financial effect on the website so uh it's it's yeah kind

of a big deal for them and then um oh and also sorry um sex with bears was another one that shut down that's all good but I think we've skipped over the interesting part about this I know you said we don't know why she was fired people don't just get fired no there's normally a reason behind it um apparently okay there have been a lot of things put forward as to why it might have been there was this that she did a there was an AMA with um Reverend Jesse Jackson recently that went very very poorly because people kept asking him a lot of sensitive questions that he refused to answer why you're such a bigot basically all that kind of stuff and he just kept talking about how difficult it was for him and that's happened before with other on

like Harrison Ford even just sort of ignored right direct questions right I think it's is similar to um a recent Twitter uh thing where the author of 50 Shades of Gray um they organized you could tweet questions on a hashtag and then basically everybody tweeted oh you know have you ever heard of consent um you know how do you yeah how do you feel about uh you know victims of sexual abuse this kind of stuff and it kind of just turned to but really at the end of it that she can't be responsible for his answers no that's right and so they've said no no no it wasn't because of that that was that was an absolute fest yeah poor choice of words I guess

um but um but that didn't go very well um but that had nothing to do with it and so somebody else suggested Reddit had said they wanted all employees to relocate to San Francisco uh and she refused Apparently that is also not the case um and now apparently um somebody who works at Reddit said management was pushing her to do very commercial things with the amas that she didn't want to do because she didn't think the Reddit Community wanted them for example they wanted video amas and she said no people don't want that they want what we have and they said um given her resistance to all their ideas they eliminated her position and let her go well if that's the case that sounds 100% valid yeah yeah well I don't know if it's I

don't know if it's true gave direct instructions and you ignored them yeah well apparently yeah she she disagreed with them on a lot of things and generally there were things related to them wanting to make more money so so they fired her which makes sense for them I mean that's that's kind of how the world works yeah I've got less sympathy for it if it's something like that well I also go to work tomorrow and I was told hey guys we're moving buildings yes and I went no I like my desk I'm not moving ex and I didn't move they would let me go yeah probably well I mean they alternatively if they came in and said look we're taking these things in a New Direction here and you your new prerogatives and you said no I'm going to keep doing it the old way and I

refuse to uh progress then likewise I would let you go as well yeah so if it's true I mean it's it's obviously more complicated than they just got rid of get rid of her for no reason so but now this is all sort of theory about why has she come out and said anything she said she doesn't really know she was just told that she's not required anymore right for a second yeah that might that might not be true so you know what you did should ask know what you did so anyway the the the the the result of all this was that all these reddits shut down um because they said it's not just about that it's also about the fact that we've been complaining for ages that it's really hard to to re in the chaos that is the internet and and the management has not been doing

anything about it um they just keep trying to make more money as I guess you know and and ignoring and ignoring and ignoring the fact that everybody's jobs just keep getting harder so uh but to me it's not the business's fault that the job's getting harder it's people on the internet are dicks that's probably very true so I don't know yeah I don't know I don't know how this is going to get fixed I'll be honest cuz it sounds like I mean and also I don't also don't really understand it either because I don't know what their job is moderators I kind of do I can imagine that it's involves making sure people aren't posting pics of you know people animals and stuff on the on there all the time like amongst a lot of other things don't you sensor me Matt don't

you dare sensor me I did I didn't I didn't list your subreddit Dan I made I know I know you like to keep it off the podcast so Fox animals.com I have to register another domain just go to Dan naked.com we're going to change the picture we need to update the picture we do Dan naked.com I'm serious listeners go to Dan see what happened just say Matt I said we need to update it you said okay we do and you're going to do it as opposed to uh Victoria Taylor who would have said no fine the way it is so you're implying that you're in charge here and and you would fire me if I was to not do it look all I'm saying is look what happened to Victoria taylored her notice she's not on the podcast anymore Matt I my case that's

true she's never been on previously but matter it's not point yeah you no fair point uh but again that it could all be untrue anyway we don't really know but reddits as far as I'm aware still all up and weird it's I mean it's definitely costing the money to have all this m uh stuff shut down sh going it's interesting yeah so anyway I'm sure if you're a a a Reddit user you know about it already so um and if you have any more information RIT once well I don't know what it is I definitely like I check Reddit uh you know a couple of times a day because there is interesting stuff on there it's kind of like a filter for all the um you know this if I if I I just check my RSS feeds there's a lot of stuff in there I'm not interested

in whereas if I go on Reddit then it's if it's been voted up to the point that I can see it on the front page it's probably interesting you know interesting I've gone to redit twice ever once for serial spoilers and once for the AMA with a guy with the two dicks right they're the two times well that was that was third times I went when Joe Dante did a AMA as well oh yeah okay well yeah I've seen a few of them on there Jeff Goblin did one a little while ago that was good um who else I mean lots of people have done them it's uh it's been pretty cool so yeah it'll be interesting to see how they handle it this will go away in a week you're probably right yeah yeah one way or another yeah the internet forgets

quickly yeah it does and then they remember and everyone remembers together and then they forget again yeah I'm trying to remember what they oh hatred though have pissed off for about a little while ago and um oh and that um that role playing game that was set in historical Bulgaria and didn't include black people um they they were mad they were mad about that for a while yeah and oh and Mad Max being feminist they were mad about that for a while yeah yeah anyway and then nothing changes and then they forget exactly jump on another bandwagon and then they'll use that as an example of something in about a year's time and then they'll forget exactly Go internet woo I'm a little

high I'm sorry what you're high oh I had some painkillers right all right oh we yeah we made you walk around a lot this weekend I'm sure yeah that wasn't good for your leg that's why yeah painkillers all prescription All Above boards okay yeah yeah we know we know well the okay the listeners maybe don't yeah yeah call the cop in Italy so do you want to talk about Michael Jackson um any Michael Jackson news are we don't get much Michael Jackson news anymore there's not a lot of Michael Jackson news but I I think we should have a jingle for it for when it does come all right what what are the uh what's the creative brief for the for the Michael Jackson jingle you would

like I like it Thriller oh Thriller all right that's it and it has to incl well if it's Thriller it has to include a little bit of the wacko Jacko voice in there but also a little bit of the Vincent Price narration all right all right I like it I like it all right cool uh that's probably going to sound a little something like [Music] this now it's time for all the latest news regarding the world's most famous [Laughter] babysitter I miss him I miss I miss both of them yeah I miss Vincent Price a bit more but uh I I guess I miss Michael Jackson as well cuz he was Enter he was

he was entertaining on on several levels and I mean Vince Price or Michael Jackson Michael Jackson yeah yeah for sure I do love it how he kind of became a Marty after he died like and I was working I'm working at the Record Shop when he died I think I was but it's it's that phenomenon of everyone going a it's a dirty pedophile and then the day he dies he was a musical genius and he represented us all with his songs right yeah I mean I don't we might have discussed this before but obviously there things he did that you know weren't right allegedly allegedly did that weren't right right but on the other hand he lived a very very different life to anybody else in the world so I mean you didn't meet Michael

Jackson did you no I never met him I'm only asking because Luke is the kind of kid Michael Jackson would have wanted to meet yeah no you know what I mean like if Luke said I've met Michael Jackson we wouldn't go what how we'd go oh yeah because you were 10 right around the fact right around the time he was well into 10 year olds yeah and you had cancer like and cancer and so I think if you ever had to come to Australia around that time I probably would have met him yeah wow yeah you definitely would have so you could have been involved in that whole lwuit yeah he would have you and you would have been like having to describe his penis to the police and and on this podcast right right now yeah all right well what else did he do

well Michael Jackson's in the news this week uh Russell Crow actor Russell Crow has come out and said that Michael Jackson used to prank call him for years what yeah two or three years he says I never met him never shook his hand but he found out the name I stayed in hotels under so it didn't matter where I was he'd ring up and do this kind of thing like you did when you were 10 which is just weird I mean here's what he'd say he me and in a strong voice he'd say there's an emergency and you need to leave the building and he'd say who is this and he'd say oh not to worry just kidding it's Michael now that's weird right that's weird yeah that's that's weird there's

another one where he said it it was and I just love how like childish this is is Mr wall there is Mrs wall there are there any walls there well then what's holding up the roof the only problem I have with all of this MH is he said this went on for two or three years just change the name you stay under in hotels it goes away yeah fair enough yeah but if you've got a really good name that you stay under like for example I've got a really good password that I like to use and occasionally some website or something will make me change it and I will get so irritated because I don't want to change it I like my password well you realize that's for your benefit that they ask

you to do that yeah yeah I do but having a good passw is also for my benefit well uh I mean I don't want to I don't want you to say what it is but how do you define a good password cuz I think what you think of as a good password might not be what is actually a good password to have something that I can remember even when I've changed it that's that's what I want because I don't want like apple needs me to sign in no that's not your password remember you changed it and when we asked you to change it you were out somewhere and you just came up with something on the top of your head and now you can't remember what it is that's why you use a password manager well that's why I use a password manager Matt do you want to be my password manager I can't believe out of all the

jobs that's a job and that you've employed someone to be that not you're just a cultural imperialist man yeah what happens if you forget your password to the manager well you just don't you have to make sure that your master password yeah that's what it's called it's called a master password no you're the master and he's the manager you got to make sure it's a strong password that you won't forget and in fact you can the best thing to do is to write down that password and put it somewhere because it's actually better like literally better for you to have a really strong password written down and stuck to a Post-It note on the screen in front of you then to have the password be your middle name or some thing that thatone on the internet could literally guess

yeah chances AR sitting next to you looking at your screen that's right so if if if if it's something that you can't remember that might be better as long as you can write it down so long as you have some way to recall it right exactly yeah yeah so I I I use soft I use software for that but yeah you got a little Indian boy doing it for you don't you little s hurry Sanic does so much for us do we have a jingle for my Indian password manager yes we do Matt I will remember your passwords for you Indian password manager.com I have no idea what I'm going to do for that but that's what it was nice um you know I actually met someone called Sanji did you yes I did his last name was not MCU it was something slightly less Scottish but yeah I was going to

say I don't think anyone from India's name is McCurry if you're one of our Indian listeners and your last name is McCurry right in for a special prize the only Ginger Indian that sounds like a movie that should really exist do we have an Indi oh we maybe we should play the Indian news jingle as well oh man you are you've got a busy weekend coming up no no we've already got an Indian news what W welcome to Indian news that's right no no no it's India India the country I'm sanjit marari and this is India news that is the Indian news how did you get a genuine Indian to do the voice for that map well I just asked my password

[Laughter] manager you know I actually I met somebody not an Indian but a Filipino person down in Philippines where they also have centers uhuh who had to go to American accent training so that they could pretend they were in America and not being outsourced to a call center in Manila wow yeah well I mean they don't do the best job no offense to them because I mean you know they it's ridiculous that they why why are they bother trying to pretend yeah yeah like it's obvious what happens is no the reason why they do try to pretend is um some people will just straight away go I

want to complain yeah about about your accent yeah no he's right they do yep fair enough they hear an accent they go I don't want to talk to you I want to talk to someone else even though that person on the phone can probably help you yeah might be an everything you need because the person you transferred to is a Filipino guy doing an accent yeah that's right howdy partner I heard you got a complain and the thing about normally the person you get transferred to they don't normally have the technical knowledge they have the manager the manager so they can handle a complaint and go yes I understand yes yes yes and then they're going to give it back to the same person to fix it for you reached San McCurry and I I can't really

help you with this yeah that's fine yeah I'll beat I'll make sure he's beaten tonight yeah I used to work at a call center if you can't guess uh I did too actually for a short while I didn't have to learn an accent the the irony was that you worked in call centers in Australia filtering calls from India and you had to uh pretend you were Indian which is why Matt you do such a good Indian accent now that's true that is true yeah otherwise they' complain and I'd have to put them on sun okay so I hear you've got a trouble with your unflushable toilet oh you became a robot that wasn't a robot that was that was me trying to do an Indian accent hello I'm still a robot aren't I oh this is you're a little bit

of robot it's not too bad it is for me maybe it's maybe it's my connection no no he definitely is a robot but whoa whoa yeah I'm definitely am I still a robot didn't you know I'm finding out a lot of on this podcast about myself while we're waiting for it to come back in TV I just put my new wheelchair in all right I'm going have a look at it I'm going to I'm going to out bid you it usually fixes it that's a good wheelchair he yeah cool no bits so yeah everyone's just watching where is it it's a 4 and 1 half hour drive away for me to pick it up so I'm going to have a very long weekend s is there a certain irony in the fact that you have to go and pick up a wheelchair clearly I'm still a robot cuz

that was hilarious can't hear understand a word you're saying at the moment sorry me either okay I've got to I'm just looking at my Skype I've got a request from Doodlebug miss4 she'd like to add me as a contact I add her immediately I don't think I don't think that's Dan that's Dan I mean I wouldn't think so you guys are just going to have to translate my texts the rest of the podcast Dan's going to do the rest of the podcast via text he says he's typing no he stopped typing no he's typing do we want to maybe end the phone call try it again give it a couple of minutes all right thank God Dan he fell off the internet for a bit there yeah I really did maybe I I don't mean to sound

melodramatic but that was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me like just the fact that like you guys couldn't hear me or like I had no way of like even saying to you like go on without me because nothing seem to work for a bit I was like totally cut off well just so you know we were prepared to go on without you yes yeah well that's good I'm glad I'm glad you you know were willing to go do that contingency a lot of people go with the whole no Leave No Man Behind we'll leave you behind yeah yeah yeah we figured even look back we thought maybe Singapore sank or something I mean I don't know a whole lot about Singapore I'll be honest is that it is an island so I mean it could sink I mean we all know what happened to uh Atlantis

Atlantis yeah is it a is it ahead of it time in the world is it a futuristic city of of Hope and opportunity that that might become a bit uh big too big for its britches and sink into the ocean as your joke but it kind of is a bit like that so um yeah you know all right now if I sound different it's because I'm no longer in a little quiet room anymore so so I'm out in the big room and there are things that make noise here so I apologize if my audio suddenly sounds all right there's things that make noise are singaporeans Dan is that what you call them speaking of which yes they're singaporeans yeah okay cool they want to be racist I thought I thought you meant to you call them [Laughter]

things um can I move on to something speaking of singaporeans um So I listened to your podcast from two weeks ago that I was not present for um and enjoyed it immensely as I always do when I've missed out on one and I listen to it back uh and I was I was particularly interested uh when you guys started talking about the book at tea monkey man right oh yeah because obviously book at tea monkey man are a real problem over here you know like in in our daily [Music] lives but you remember how uh a few weeks ago Matt you played us an episode of Terry small shoes new TV show Sasquatch watch well I was flicking through channels here the other night and really

late at night just flicking through the local channels and I I noticed that they've actually got a show here that's very similar to Sasquatch watch really yeah and I I taped a bit of it um because I thought you guys might might want to have a a bit of a sample of it yeah all right Matt I've given you the link there is that something you can play for us now yeah yeah I'll queue it up right now just a sec hello and welcome to this week's episode of Sasquatch watch Asia I'm your host fam Sasquatch Hunter Lee smallo on tonight's episode I'll hit deep into the jungles of buet tea where I'll attempt to look K trapped and eventually killed the fame bookie teer monkey man Singapore's very own s Squatch Lee boards the train in

Singapore's Central District and prepares to embark on the grueling 15minute journey into the Heartland dark jungles of booket tea booket tea isn't so much a jungle as it once was in fact it's mostly private housing businesses and eateries but in the 1.6 square kilm of remaining rough lens there have been several sightings of the legendary monkey man so far only about 100% of those sightings have proven to be false monkeys common in the region and not the monkey man itself the facts don't lie except when they do ticket what oh want to book tea please what about those guys who film CA Oh dma uh can we get a family real pass the crew pulled together their money the between

could only collect about half the fair needed to take the entire unit all the way to book at tea yeah it's a bit of a setback but there's always research to be done so I'm going to head back to my parents basement where I work and live and live and we'll regroup from there without even a basic Transportation budget Lee doubts if the money he raised from Kickstarter is really enough to fund the entire 12-part series as he left the station he Amed to himself how he wasn't even sure how he was going to pay the voiceover artist for what oh [Applause] this startlingly similar as you can see that's amazing well I mean it's got a lower budget obviously than Terry does for some some somehow Terry makes it to the pigga scrub every week for the episode right

right well he's uh he he's managed to somehow pull together the funding to get over to the himas so yeah oh wow yeah I mean I don't want to say too much but I think he said he's going to try and get me some of the some of the footage to um to if we could air it on this podcast before it goes to TV that would be a real Bo you yeah four for both of us because you know our listeners are are his fans as well I think yeah so that's right yeah so we'll see yeah so I I don't know if there's any legal problems with us playing uh a clip from Sasquatch watch Asia uh I assume it's fine I assume yeah I assume our lawyers go over everything that we put on this podcast yep so y yeah unfortunately it's after it's got out into the world yeah generally

speaking uh well we were going to talk uh when we didn't think you were available on the internet anymore we're going to talk briefly about some uh some game stuff did you want to do you want to take us through that Luke well um destiny was a game that Bungie released that was meant to be this great game that everyone's going to love I didn't enjoy it okay mhm I found it very boring what might have made it a bit more interesting for me is if they had a writer from say arrest development working on it okay that seems totally implausible Luke why would they possibly do that I don't know but but this is actually something they did they went out they hired David Cross to come out and write jokes I I see and they're actually just punch it up and make it a bit bit of fun

they were going to do they were going to yeah fix up the dialogue for um dinky's character Peter dinklage's character yeah wait they were going to get David Cross to write lines for Peter Dinklage yeah wow but the weird thing is they hiired him flew him out got him to write all the stuff and they used nothing interesting yeah but I can just imagine the kind of jokes that he would have written like if it's what I'm imagining they probably couldn't use any of it yeah censorship I mean right but I might have made that game a bit more interesting for me because all D really did in that game was go here kill that yeah his delivery I mean I don't know if it's his fault or whoever was giving him the the lines to read but it's

very flat and you know like not very interesting so I don't know cuz Destiny wasn't really it wasn't a funny game it wasn't a fun game well I enjoyed the time that I they played it but as as was pointed out to me when I just we BR uh brought this up earlier in the weekend I I did stop playing it a long time ago so um and and not that it's not that I got sick of it or anything like that it's I stopped playing it because I didn't have time and then just never thought of it again yeah do people still play it is it still out there oh it's still a very big thing they just even release some more DLC for it and but it's a t it's it's an MMO yeah you go out and then you do the same Mission over and over and over to get

better gear to level up to go do another mission yeah yeah and that's not for me it's for some people yeah it might have been fun if we were playing together but we don't true but yeah um I I think I'm if they did have this bit of human in it I might have stayed with it a bit longer than what I did yeah yeah well yeah especially I mean I mean David Cross is a funny guy so yeah and uh he and Brian Pon as well apparently they got out that's such a so strange why wouldn't they use any of the material I assume they paid him well assuming cuz I assume this is one of those things where at kind of a lower level it sounded like a good idea and then when it went to Upper manag Li they were like no way

no yeah maybe well like playing the game yeah I can't imagine his him having jokes in there yeah with what I played of it yeah maybe that's what they're like ah I mean it's funny but everything else in this game is so uninteresting it just doesn't work it just stands out as being good and we don't want that here that's right oh and this is some other news that sort of came out this week Peter Mo who uh used to be the former Xbox boss he sort of come out to talk about remember we we all had that big red ring of death with the Xbox 360 yeah oh yes yes come out given a bit of an interview about that and what they went through when they found that out cuz they didn't release that on purpose well you I wouldn't have thought so no

that's the type of thing that you don't want out there you mean they weren't just with me specifically that's good to know cuz I went through about three Xbox 360s before I finally got one that just worked I eventually eventually had to throw out my Xbox 360 because it it red ringed so many times and they they eventually said nah sorry and I just had to buy another one yeah like that's what happened with me too yeah yeah cuz I think they were very good like they did replace it for a year or two and then they finally went no yeah yeah right which you can sort of understand especially when it cost them 1.15 billion wow to fix this yeah that's taking everyone's back shipping

fixing them returning them well just I mean yeah sorry but that's what happens when you really when your product doesn't work properly I mean I'm sure I know that they didn't do it on purpose but I mean that's that's just how it is like if you release a product and it doesn't work properly you have to have to pay for it to be fixed yeah essentially how it works you know that's how it should work I think but he he goes on and just explains like cuz he had to go in and talk to the head of Microsoft at time Steve bulmer and go this has happened yeah a bit of a problem and basically if we don't fix this the brand is dead yeah and then he's gone so how much will it

be he's gone bit over a billion dollars and he's just going to fix it like no hesitation no anything just fix it cuz yeah if they didn't fix this we wouldn't be playing an Xbox one today no no but I just thought that was quite interesting definitely I also I remember um they mentioned at the top here uh all the various fixes that people put online you know wrapping towels around the Xbox and letting it overheat um that would yeah you know then suddenly it would work again all that kind of stuff I remember all that stuff such a strange who comes up with an IDE honest I think that I think that did work for me for a little while rapper wet tail yeah right yeah I did try that and it and it did start working again for a short

time but I'm sorry with something breaks I don't think I'm going to wrap a wet towel around it and turn it back on well some thankfully the internet is there to sort these things out for you Luke so somebody did have that idea so somebody's who just puts wet tails on everything accidentally put one on a red ringed Xbox so the internet also tells people to put iPhones in water yeah that was funny that was very funny idiots oh dear well uh one amusing gaming story I read this week was about um players in a game called Arc survival evolved which is a dinosaur hunting game

it's like an MMO sort of thing I believe well it's more like Minecraft I think you can ride a dinosaur yeah it's like sorry it's like Day Z and rust and all that kind of stuff but with Dinosaurs so it's a survival game you jump on and everybody's kind of trying to survive in this world and everybody each other over CU that's how these games end up working mhm yeah so there was a player uh barbaric seagull no sorry barbaric seagull is the person who did this there was a troll uh Ricky his name was Ricky uhuh yeah um and he was he was very well known in the game for being a dick and everyone kind of got sick of him and so as a part of the mechanic in this game you you can be knocked unconscious right yeah but um

like you don't die to C raped well the way the mechanics in the game mine goes straight away they got they managed to this guy unconscious in game carry him to a uh a a cage that they had constructed put put him in it lock him in and then basically he'd wake up and they would beat him uh and then actually he he kept trying to kill himself by punching the wall so they would tranquilize him and then feed him um Health until his HP was full again and then just and then just left him in there like that wouldn't let him die exactly so um apparently it took 30 minutes for them to trap him after they uh they informed him that he'd been arrested and and put him in a cage wow

uh and and yeah I don't know how long he was in there but he he is out now and apparently he has learned the error of his ways but I just thought this was awesome like yeah just due to the mechanics of the game they would um yeah they they tranquilized him carried him put him in the cage and then wouldn't let him kill him self so basically anytime he logged onto the game he was stuck in the cage what what game is it what online game where there is a prison and it's just an endless desert and you can just be sent there if you do bad you guys know what that is no must been cool one of the other nerd podcasts I uh listen [Music] to

Desert game this dream that I just want to read this one comment a lot of people were thought this was funny and were like oh that'll teach him a lesson one person says this is a commenter on on I guess the article on the Forum you are beyond the worst scum in the game Mr seagull that's the guy who built the prison yeah like the absolute worst if the police actively held a man in a one by one by one prison repeatedly tranquilized him and force fed him blood for a reported 10 hours against his will and without trial then yes I would call them scum as well and kick them in the nuts the point stands you are effectively Banning this player for little more than ruining your pixels yeah but no not even gonna no no

who cares it's hilarious and it's it's that's great yeah uh other hilarious rants on the internet include uh guy who hates CGI yeah and I I found this video quite entertaining yeah I wonder what you think of it because I I started to watch it and I kind of get what he's coming at but also I don't know look this this guy's basically come out and said movies are now and the reason they're is because CGI is getting better and I think what he's done is he's he's it's a confirmation bias you know what I mean he's noticed that movies are and CGI is getting better and he's right he's done what every great scientist would do in this situation and go on

well there must be a correlation uh but there isn't is a very simple reason why movies are being watered down and it's because uh they need to uh appeal to more people so right Studio movies are now going for the lowest common denominator whereas once they used to kind of drive for a certain high brownness that just doesn't exist in modern marketing so uh but he's got a very very uh detailed I guess you'd say um argument here where he Compares um there's a really great part in this video where he compares the the old Hulk with the new Hulk and he says the old Hulk is much better uh because it doesn't look as good as the new Hulk and I put it to you number one that the new Hulk I actually thought was a lot better

than the old Hulk I'll say that um right but also my favorite quote from um was um have a look at the frame on the left and the frame on the right which one do you prefer it's actually the one on the left and I was like wait a minute wait wait whoa whoa whoa yeah how is that quantifiable well his his his argument was that uh in the shot on the left which is from the the Eric Banner Hulk the the background behind the Hulk is actual footage of a city I assume that it kind of looks like San Francisco to me I don't know where it is it kind of looks like San Francisco to me but and and that does appear to be true like it is actual footage and and the Hulk has been been popped in there he CGI yeah and then the one on the right which

shows the Hulk uh in the Eric Norton Eric Norton Edward Norton I've combined Eric banner and Edward Norton oh that's that's that's their son yeah um you want to watch them ring that in front of a live background Eric norton.com Eric norton.com I hope there's something at Eric norton.com I can hear typing everyone's [Laughter] checking all right we'll sort that out um the one on the right is the Edward Norton Hulk and the background is prob well he doesn't really know burning City yeah it's probably almost entirely CGI and he thinks that that your supension of disbelief is better uh encouraged with the one on the left because it's actually footage of a real thing and your brain knows even though he's

presented no scientific evidence for this not that but that's not what the suspension of disbelief is the suspension of disbelief is knowing it's fake and deciding to go with it right it's not tricking your brain into thinking it's real right yeah so I mean I can see there are there is there's some nuggets of of truth and and interesting observations in the video but I think overall he's wrong yeah like it's as you explain there there are a lot of reasons that films are arguably not as good now um and it's I mean saying it's all because of CGI is just silly it's coming down cuz the that's what the audience wants yeah and if a film like people someone in the comments and and and on YouTube and elsewhere have said oh for example

I think that the Lord of the Rings films were much better than The Hobbit films because The Hobbit films used way more CGI and I'm like well I agree with that but not because not just because they use CGI I think because the CGI was used in stupid ways but not only that the Lord of the Rings films were much better than The Hobbit films because there were much better films take all the effects out there're still better movies well you take all the effects out of the hob there's no film I haven't actually watched this but just been streaming across in the background but he uses RoboCop as an example of how movies gotten worse yeah that was just made for a different audience yeah exactly right and all movies now are made from a different

audience than they used to be yeah yeah like the original robotex or Robo Robotech RoboCop were R-rated lowbudget movies yeah exactly and then the new one was made for teenagers yeah yeah yeah well I I mean it was an interesting video and like I said I did find some stuff in there that I was like maybe I kind of agree with you there but overall I think he's just just made some people lazier with making um what is it the that Facebook movie yeah exactly right we discussed a few weeks ago where they just instead of just making a sign that said where they were oh social network yeah yeah social network cuz they in a different School they got CGI to replace all the name

well one of the special effects in The Social Network cuz I mean there there were like you said it's a ridiculous number of special effects in that movie for what it was which is just a film with people talking a lot almost and one of the special effects that people really really panned in it is there's a scene where um it's it's Mark Zuckerberg and um uh the other guy's name escapes me it doesn't matter they're outside talking it's very cold and the the the Mist like not Mist but you know the steam from you the breath yeah is ridiculous like it's really is and so but I mean and also because they were supposed to they're supposed to be in a film in Connecticut but they're actually shooting it in

California where it's not cold so they put in some CGI Frosty breath but they could have just left it out and no one would have question because the actor's performance is actually pretty good in that in that scene like they look like they're cold but theous breath yeah so look I mean here the thing saying that movies are worse because of CGI is like saying that music is worse because of synthesizers you know what I mean like sure if you don't like that kind of music then yeah you'll think it's worse but it's not because of that it's because your taste is different yeah sure I agree and and yeah like he uses uh King Kong as an example of where uh the film see I'm not quite sure exactly what his point was the fact

that that the actors were comped in on in front of fake backgrounds made the film bad like I I thought King The King Kong remake was pretty good personally so did I and not only that go back and watch the Old King Kong now right oh yeah right and you tell me if that still looks great because I'm telling you now it doesn't it looks like f Ray is in a huge mechanical hand that doesn't move right and then in the next shot it's a like a stop motion doll right yeah yeah and then it's closeups out of context yeah it's so you're saying it so you're saying it looks like what it is exactly right yeah yeah well and that sort of

brings me to this next article yeah uh about CGI sort of Um Zack Snider has finally I guess responded to um criticisms about Man of Steel where people said Superman wouldn't allow a city to be destroyed like like it did in the in the film cuz the whole point is that he's supposed to try and save people and a lot of people killed a lot of people yeah and so he's come out and said oh well I mean uh that I didn't think people would be annoyed about that uh and we address it in Batman versus Superman oh okay like apparently in Batman vers Superman uh the reason that lik Superman is because he destroyed a whole City and and and injured a bunch of people and in particular that's Batman's issue is with him so I mean and

that's all well and good but that doesn't I mean I think he is he is kind of using that to avoid the greater issue which was that it wasn't a very good movie yeah well that's right like my issues with Man of Steel weren't just necessarily they destroyed the whole city it's just that that happening was boring yeah and I'll say by the time it got to that scene I was already well bored yeah I was so bored I haven't even watched it yet I think it's and like I we've talked about this before like I feel like the action in in Man of Steel was just so mind-numbing and ridiculous yeah like and and kind of I guess this relates to that guy's article in that you they wouldn't have made a movie like this without the CGI

because they would have been able to because you couldn't right and and my suspension of disbelief just wasn't having it CU it was just ridiculous yeah but that on every level to I mean in the the first scene of the first Christopher ree Richard Donna Superman movie right where um jorel is putting Kalel in the craft and sending him to Earth and it's this beautiful poetic scene and it goes for about 4 minutes and in this one it's Russell Crow instead of mar and Brando it goes for 25 to 30 minutes and he's riding the dragon and kicking ass and it's like that is not more interesting that is way less interesting I know why you think it's more interesting but you're wrong yeah yeah well I mean I think there are some people who think

it's more interesting and maybe there were I mean clearly there were enough of them that made enough money that it's fine but for us and I I absolutely agree with you the the scene from the original is so memorable yeah and to be honest I I mean I remember bits about the the new the Man of Steel intro and I remember that looked cool at first but then I was like oh man like just nobody's in any danger when when all that shit's going on like it's like the bigger issue with with the ending where the whole city got destroyed and we just never saw the fact that these people were dying was just that it it's meaningless like Superman knocks down a skyscraper right but if we don't see or know that there's people in there even

though we do because people said afterwards of course they were full of people they killed those people yeah but we didn't see any of that so it's like it's like there's no no one's in any danger it's not interesting or or tense or anything it's a it's a guy who can't die punching another guy who can't die like I don't know that's why I'm I'm not a fan of Superman mainly because of that well I mean his the best argument for that would be well that's Superman and I would say yeah okay fair enough like you did what you could Superman's boring yeah well he is a little bit he he is a bit boring yeah he can do everything and he can't die you know who's not boring though Batman and now they're combining the two and did you guys know this because I don't

think we've discussed this on the podcast right but you know Batman v Superman's coming out right yeah yeah yep if that does well at the box office and I'm sure it will then they've already pre greenit the new Batman Solo movie Next it's called the Batman and it's going to be directed by Ben Affleck ah um but I I find that kind of interesting because the other two movies that Ben affect has directed uh the town and Argo we're both really good yeah H okay this great movie interesting well they're going cuz they want to do Justice League yes I think I

I think Studios want to do justice league and they're obviously moving towards that by doing their own thing basically they want a Marvel Universe with the DC cast yeah right oh but but I have a feeling that Ben Affleck signed on to do Zack cider's shitty Batman v Superman because he's got a vision of how he wants to do his own Batman well look I'll say this uh I haven't what's the other one you mentioned that he direct okay I haven't seen the town I've seen Argo and yeah that was really good but it was not one of these films it was definitely not like Man of Steel or or like I think they're moving away from Man of Steel I don't know that's I don't know I just a feeling I get they're going more from a movie I haven't seen I think they're basically starting fresh with Superman V

Batman well they that's going to be the start of their Universe well the problem with that is from from the article that I've put in here the the plot of versus Superman heavily heavily relies on what happened in is that Batman's pissed off and comes and tells Superman to go back to his own country right because one of the buildings that was destroyed in in Man of Steel was a was a Wayne Enterprises building and he knew people who work there and they're dead now wait a minute wait a minute so it's personal it's not just that he's morally against it yes well that's even more that's what Ben Affleck said uh hang on a minute where is the quote one of the okay this Ben affle one of the things I liked about Zach's idea

of showing accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings and in fact one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne's building so he knew people who died in that black zero event is what they call it right black zero yeah I don't know man look I'm still going to watch it yeah there's no way I'm not going to watch it I'm probably this is where I'm going to start watching super I haven't seen a Superman movie since Christopher Reef yeah well you haven't missed a lot that's what I've heard but this time I might go back cuz I I do like Batman probably the only character I like out of the DC Universe so this might be might be stepping stone to May

getting into you'll be eating your words when the Martian Manhunter movie comes [Laughter] out cuz they're like I play all the Lego games and I've played Lego Batman games and a lot of the characters in there I'm just I have no connection to these characters yeah Batman's The Riddler yeah although I am thinking about dressing as the Riddler for packs this year oh please do that would be awesome the 1960s Riddler do it in the in the onesie in the onesie onesie I love it I watched the uh please do that please I beg you do that it may happen I don't want to commit to anything just yet well you just did live on this podcast that's pre-recorded I will be the Riddler at packs nice yes I do

love I watched the old film the uh the Batman movie from the 60s recently and Riddler is wearing like a green suit and he's looking pretty sharp and then he goes to the lair and puts on the onesie look like his house clothes yeah right casual what I'm so fixated about that movie and about the old series that I just never noticed when I was a kid is I just can't stop looking at Caesar Romero's mustache that's painted over what do you know yes the Joker has a big bushy mustache cuz Caesar Romero refused to shave it off and they just paint the Joker makeup over it I don't think I've even noticed let me have a look let me have a look oh man

I know this where you go this is where you go sorry we're going to go find someone else yeah shave the mustache if you want the job yeah oh man I need to watch this show now I didn't even I mean obviously as a kid I just didn't even think of it but looks awful yeah I bet these I bet these look awesome on Blu-ray is this available on Blu-ray it was meant to be I I forgot to check I was kind of holding out for it and then it just kind of slipped under the radar B man Blu-ray there are some that you can watch online I watched the episode with Bruce Lee in it at some point last year oh when I was on a Bruce Lee kick there is a box set awesome so I

will be looking for that oh and I will be I will be dressed at dressed up at packs this year as well I'm not going to say what it is yet it'll be a surprise does it also involve a onesie uh no I'll try and think of something that does for one of the days though because Luke's going to look pretty sexy in his one I know so you're going to have to sex it up well I'm going to have to wear something that kind of conceals the erection that I'm going to have from walking around with Luke as he's a onesie that's the problem with a onesie it's not very erection friendly no no no that's ask that's that problem have it the conventions all the time also I'll just let you know now you find this at packs we'll give you a prize oh it'll be an is

his and you can have a photo with it thank you for listening oh wait before we go before we go uh head us up on Twitter m nerdgasm hit us up on Facebook multiple nerdgasm Instagram multiple nerdgasm uh head over to patreon um and support us on there uh go to iTunes leave a positive review please five stars anything less is pointless just give us five stars don't don't even think about it just do it right now five stars WR a nice review uh we' love you bye bye yeah that's all for this week thank you for listening and we hope you enjoyed the show if you enjoyed it then please sub subcribe and items to receive episodes
