Earth I didn't know that actually it was warm here July 2019 hottest month on record no it's just summer mate it's not global warming did I tell you when when I was in the North Pole and I'm going to get [ __ ] Flack for [ __ ] humble bragging here but I was in the [ __ ] North Pole so shut up all right yeah I know you were when I was in the North Pole earlier this year um I was looking at this fiord which is basically like a it's like a lake that comes in off the the ocean and it's it was the most Lake yeah it's a fancy Lake exactly and it was the most spectacular body of water I've ever seen in my life and I was just basically I was one like one degree short of we weeping you know what I mean at its beauty you know what I mean like it was beautiful and I was like but your

tears would have polluted the lake so [ __ ] hold that in all Frozen you know what I mean but um yeah freshw Lake but um this the the local that I was with it is like I said to him I said this is this is amazing it's just amazing and he's like no it's [ __ ] horrible and I was like what are you what are you talking about and he's like up until last year that was a glacier oh of course and I was like holy [ __ ] man it is all about perspective and yeah you can't argue with that can you no we are [ __ ] this planet up yeah yeah there a lot of uh I know we talked about that article with uh the Instagram influencers going on holiday and asking for freebies uh but there's also yeah there was another one I read the other day which apparently this is a

really big issue uh [ __ ] Instagram people just trampling all over everything to get photos being like going apparently Iceland is sick of us because you get I bet they are for sure you you can fly from here you can fly to Iceland for 100 bucks and then go [ __ ] trample all over the the [ __ ] snow fields and ruin the ecos system what limited amount of um floor and fora they have there yeah just just get a photo of you lying on top of them yeah yeah or for example this [ __ ] Australian couple that was in barley last week and um this kind of hot Barby looking blond girl um washed her ass in some holy water in a bonese temple what cuz she thought that' be a great photo [ __ ] man oh look it's me I'm washing my ass people are [ __ ] weird man just

yeah they are yeah and there was there was an article I read the other week about you the Lavender Fields in France um yeah yeah they go this's this particular area of France you mean the ones fertilized by the bodies of the people who died in like two world wars didn't know that but uh perhaps mhm mhm that's why [ __ ] goes so well there yeah right well I mean this this people's livelihood is growing lavender but then now you've got like they' had photos of it it's just fields and Fields of [ __ ] instagrammers like trampling ripping up like uh bits of lavender and and like destroying the place and so they put signs up on the in the field now saying please respect our livelihood to like to discourage people from taking photos yeah I love the fact that now you

have to put a sign up if you want basic respect yeah like please don't trespass on my property yeah don't ruin our ecosystem yeah and then there's one in New Zealand too that was like there's a famous photo of a it's like a tree on an island and uh and then this photographer won a bunch of awards for taking a photo of this this is a beautiful landscape but now it's a competition like you got to get up in the [ __ ] tree and get a photo of yourself and like course you do piss off mate did we ever did we ever learn what happened to that monkey who sued that dude for no for claiming that that picture was taken by him when actually it was taken by the monkey no don't I feel that was something we we wanted to follow up on you know what let's look into it

during the week and maybe when we come back after the break we can uh we can follow up on that oh yeah so Luke's not here obviously he's in oh yeah Luke's not here he's [ __ ] stoned out of his mind right now he is living it up in Amsterdam and just when I love it cuz we got a bunch of snaps from him and some VAR social media content and like he was eating a pot brownie okay that's fine you know it's fun it's Amsterdam but did you get that snap just now of him literally just [ __ ] smoking a pipe yeah I know just [ __ ] getting high and he was like I might just smoke a little bit just cuz I miss smoking like you miss smoking a pipe I don't remember you doing that every no I've never once seen you smoke a pipe yeah pets Luke hope we're not going to get in TR in

trouble for talking about it he doesn't listen to the podcast his wife does so she might hear it but Luke won't yeah so he's not here and uh and we're I don't know we've been encouraged by our listeners to take a break and so we might just do that um is that a good thing when your listeners encourage you to take a break pleas please stop I think you should go on hiatus yeah yeah it'd be better for the world if you guys just pissed off for well look there's no Star Wars news in there oh no wait yes there is okay sorry guys uh this will just be the same as it always is there is Yeah couple of crazy news articles and then we'll talk about Star Wars yeah Matt before we even get into that I would just say that on your

recommendation I've gone and purchased uh all three making of Star Wars books for the iPad the enhanced versions yes um I had the first one as a as a book as an actual book what do you call the book now you like know how now we have an email we call regular male snail mail is there like a derogatory term for an actual book now like hard copy so you could be like in um remember remember hackers the movie hackers with the the plag when he walks in and hands him Mr the plague yeah he hands him the paperwork and he's like GH hard copy that's me that's great yeah well I had a hard copy of making of Star Wars but I couldn't literally hear George Lucas's voice on it so has already surpassed that mind you I do have to look on my iPhone which is not ideal for a

big coffee table book but you know I'm enjoying it yeah the only thing I I have to read them on my my iPad or my iPhone I guess but uh cuz my Kindle is like the newer ones have audio like Bluetooth audio and my my kle is like yours yeah and it's literally the first time I've ever thought maybe I need a new Kindle because I always the same because I have I have the paper white which I think is probably the one you have y and it's just good enough which is great which is yeah yeah yeah and it's been abely fine for everything yeah yeah I can't imagine what they're going to add that oh wait audio okay fine now I need it oh there you go yeah they figured it out because I actually I prefer to read on the Kindle than I do on the Kindle app on an on an iPad for example just because of

the way the screen is orientated the lights come from the side rather than from the back and I know I'm aware listeners can write in podcast multip nasm.com I'm aware that there aren't really any studies that prove that the strain is less but everyone just says it like it's fact and it does feel like it's true so let's just go with that yeah you know what lights shining right at my eyes or me looking at Cross light uh even if there's no scientific study to say that's different it's [ __ ] different okay it is I enjoy it differently therefore it's different yeah that's enough and that is valid our feelings are valid Matt that's right FS don't care about your feelings Dan no they do not no I like to think Kindle cares about my feelings I like to

think they take into consideration that giant corporate entity Amazon yeah they care about our feelings hey man I ordered Groceries on Amazon today and uh I tried to do that yeah like it's just I I order certain things on there we don't have grocery delivery as such yet we have a few grocery delivery companies in Singapore or in Southeast Asia that are pretty good but only Amazon guarantees same day delivery in fact you can get your groceries within 2 hours it's pretty good so you can literally be like I feel like a beer and an apple pie and within 2 hours you're [ __ ] having that beer and that apple pie and you haven't left the house yeah right that's pretty NE those are literal examples of what I got with my groceries today is that Whole Foods or do you not

have Whole Foods there or is just we don't have Whole Food yeah right okay yeah yeah yeah well there's there's literally no agriculture here in Singapore everything's imported so yeah okay yeah well do we want to get the I mean we could do the Star Wars news get out of the way uh not a huge amount of it um I think we can stretch out these couple of uh small Star Wars uh topics to last the whole episode yep just yeah just for those pay us money to do that that's that's right yeah now how much stock gets put into both of these I don't know yeah I'm not sure if these are legit but they are being reported I mean deadline did first one in quotes so yeah um yep that's right so variety confirmed the first one as well all right well then I mean that

it's almost fact I guess uh you and McGregor I mean returning as Obi-Wan uh for a TV series on Disney plus man he must be so happy I mean this is a famous actor you know me this is a this is a guy who lives and works in Hollywood but I've never seen a man beg for something as much as you and McGregor begged for an Oban movie it's just so strange considering how the prequels are seen that I know he just doesn't care he's just like no I [ __ ] just love it whatever well not only does he not care I mean you wouldn't cuz he's a Star Wars fan same as us he's the same age as us he [ __ ] loves Star Wars yeah oh look if they came to me and said would would you be in this prequel spin-off I'd be like I hate the prequels but [ __ ] yeah I'll do it yeah they they could come

back to you and say Matt we're going to remake The Phantom Menace shot for shot word for word will and and we want you to play Jar Jar Binks and we and you have to do it exactly asme best did I'm not sure that's but I will do it I will absolutely do it I will do it yeah yeah but Yan [ __ ] loves playing Obi-Wan and he was certainly not the worst part about those movies arguably he was no the best thing about he might be the only one who who's or him and Ian mcdad are definitely having fun look I like to think that Natalie port knows what it was as well yeah you know yeah like she'd worked with great European directors before that it wasn't her first trip to the rodeo sure you know she must have known when she took

on that role that okay this is a bit [ __ ] yeah just let me look at George Lucas's other films and see how good the roles for women were hm okay that's right yeah I will canot condone any action that would lead to what yeah okay this is not great [ __ ] no no but look I think Yan Not only was a Star Wars fan but I also think he was a massive fan of Sir Alec Guinness oh yeah and he was honored to take on the role of a young anak Guinness he's now almost the age that Alec was when he played Obi-Wan so I think he's Keen to bridge that Gap as well for sure you know play play Obi-Wan with a little bit of gray in his beard yep yeah but someone was saying this could even be like flashbacks could be part of it or who

knows what they do that's true like yeah could yeah that's true could be pretty maybe it'll just be Obi-Wan drinking green milk out of the tits of some big [ __ ] fish C some desert be for all we know stranger things have happened yeah yeah yeah I do Wonder someone uh someone said it could be [ __ ] mad max style on tne where him and Owen L like [ __ ] have an Adventures Mad Max Style with the Tusk and Raiders that be right absolutely yeah I also saw somebody do a mockup poster that's basically the um a fist full of dollars like the the old Samurai movie you know just the kind ofone Samurai walks into town like yeah I mean I'd watch that too well here's hoping it's good yeah it's good one cynical take on

this is just that uh this is Disney's attempt to murder Netflix and then we just yeah they'll just cancel all of these shows with the big stars as soon as that happens maybe I don't know because Disney's plan for Disney plus which is their Ott platform is not just to rival Netflix but it's to rival cinemas as well like this this is the platform you can receive Disney content on from whenever it starts into Infinity yeah yeah this is the future of watching things yeah Disney from now on will be Disney plus and it'll be synonymous and there'll be no separation they'll lose the Plus at one point and it'll just be Disney it'll just be Disney yeah that's right and it will be everything you'll be ordering your groceries from there shortly yeah Disney

Disney related groceries yeah after they absorb Amazon all right well I mean I'll I'm very interested in uh in this even if even if [ __ ] I'm interested in it so put it this way I'm more interested in this than of a few other Star Wars properties that have been thrown around sure well like what say got an example a like for example Ryan Johnson's Trilogy that he keeps insisting he's doing yeah he's talk he's had another he's brought it up against still insisting yeah of course he has yeah well I mean look we don't know whether it's been cancelled so we can assume that it hasn't and he's still talking he's talking about it we don't know it was officially green L yeah I got nothing against Ryan Johnson no think that if you and me and Luke and

Ryan Johnson hung out one day like we would have a great time he seems like a fun gu and and maybe taken apart from all this [ __ ] burden that he was given with you know the Last Jedi maybe he'll do a good good job on on some separate stuff so he's hoping this will be good yep yep y a lot of pressure honestly we don't know I mean look he was the writer and the director and obviously that says a lot he's officially the author of the film but as we know about the Studio system in Hollywood you've got to take on any idea that anyone above you gives you oh absolutely you know what I mean so like for all we know Ryan Johnson [ __ ] hates the space iron and just can't say anything well look at Alien 3 David Fincher directed Alien 3 yes or did he

yeah like [ __ ] me that's right what a disaster so yeah don't blame a soft spot for I've got I've still got a soft spot for Alien 3 and I think I always will yeah me too but um it's not it's not a certainly not a David finer film no that's got my friend Lance in it and uh and uh it certainly does yeah love l i mean they filmed it on the sets built for a completely different movie also called Alien 3 yes but but with a totally different script yeah which you can listen to on Audible now holy [ __ ] can you the William Gibson one what you're talking about oh that's yeah yeah the oh that's great I'm going to check that out for sure yeah R and there's a comic book uh series that they made of

it too yeah that I did know about yeah and it was going to be an Australian director the director of the only thing I know him of is he made a movie called The Navigator did you ever see that not Flight of the Navigator no it was uh it was about a bunch of medieval monks that had the plague that went into a hole in the ground and came out in modernday New Zealand what have you ever heard of this movie no but it sounds great I sounds weird but that's fine neither has Google it just Co okay the Navigator a medieval Odyssey Australian New Zealand co-production directed by Vincent Ward so that's who it was that was going to do Alien 3 initially and even he [ __ ] walked off that project you know what I mean yeah yeah

oh and he wasn't in a position to be throwing any weight around in Hollywood well I told you I mean I I've told you the story Lance henrion told me about Alien 3 right where they the studio called him and said can you come in and do you want to be in Alien 3 and he said no I'm good and then they said no just come in for a day we just want need you to show up and then he said what what what am I going to be doing and they're like oh we haven't figured that out yet just uh pop on over and have a cup of tea and we'll we'll call you in when we figure out what we want you to do and he was like fine and so I asked him what the deal was with his character yeah in that movie uh whan and he said I don't know so no idea sounds good yeah I I believe that yeah there's nothing about

that story I don't believe having seen the film yep all right well it's speaking of Hollywood H I'm not going to say too much about this but I saw a film last night that I just want to mention briefly oh is it what I think it is go on I watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood I want to watch that go on yeah you do want to watch it mhmh you do want to watch it don't read anything about it just go and watch it okay the anything I've read about it is I know people are complaining about some Bruce Le stuff that's all I know about it so far they definitely are complaining about Bruce Lee stuff and I understand why if you saw the movie and you watched all the way to the end you might not complain because there's a few things in this movie that are given let's say uh

unique spin okay but there's a reason for that and um I I mean look I I'll see anything Tarantino comes out with right and um I don't love everything but I'll but I'll see everything it's always worth watching um but I also will watch any film that comes out about the family the Manson family sure and uh and you know last year there was a movie came out called Charlie says did you see that no no I didn't that was interesting and and it was focused on the female kind of that the aspect of what what would have to happen to a woman before she could be brainwashed in the way that these women were brainwashed by Charlie Manson um and and this is the total opposite of that you know like

this is a very new way of even approaching the subject right of of the family um don't go into it expecting Pulp Fiction 2 it's not a whole bunch of like really cool set pieces with like Snappy dialogue and stuff it's a much subtler um much more of a think piece and um things you think are maybe going to be like big parts of the movie are actually just little parts and vice versa but definitely worth a watch and I'm hoping to go and see it again this week actually yeah for second view I really want to see I don't know whether I'm going to get to before we go away so yeah well unfortunately I went to Italy to check if there was a decent way of watching in Italy and it doesn't seem like there is so um you do have to

hang out for the for the cinema if you want a proper experience I suggest you do all right yeah I will I uh I watched this week uh inspired by Luke and yourself I went back to something that I had sort gu sort of forgotten about uh I started to watch it uh and then got distracted I went back to the expanse oh yeah and I've watched uh the first season now just the first season okay yep y I've only watched the first season to so [ __ ] great man it's [ __ ] [ __ ] fantastic isn't it yeah it's really good I'm glad I'm glad I I I will say and look Thomas Jane gives a solid performance in everything he's ever done yeah I like Thomas Jane but this is his best role yeah oh yeah he's great there's something about the way he plays

this character that just I mean when you're when you're making a fantasy movie a science fiction movie like the the Temptation is there that to just go really over the top but actually the way that you the way that you work build a really great science fiction universe is to go the opposite way and just play it for absolute truth and I think that's why the expanse is so successful for me is that this is just [ __ ] people like living their lives doing their [ __ ] you know there's politics there's Wars yeah and it just so happens that some of them are from Mars and some of them from Earth and some of them are from somewhere else yeah like Thomas Jane lives on a space station and has his whole life so like and yeah he just that's just his

character and Y it's not over the top or anything it's just he's just a guy that grew up that way and there's um he uh he the hat that he wears I read a thing about the other day he uh they had a costume all picked out for him and he had it on and he was like nah I got a hat it's better and then they'll like oh we picked the hat and he was like no no no this one's not right and then he he came in with the you the little tril that he wears and they like yeah no he's right that's better all right yeah man that tril is literally his character summed up in one one article it suits fits perfectly uh yeah and and other characters constantly refer to it as being ridiculous which it is that's right yeah yeah it's

great now good show really enjoy it look I must say there's there's been at least once where I've looked at his haircut and going could I pull that off yep I definitely couldn't because I don't have I definitely couldn't either yeah so yeah and you know and neither of us look like Thomas Jane let's be honest but uh but he's rad it's a great show and he's doing a great job of it yeah everybody's uh really good in it yeah yeah yeah and I uh and I have a feeling it's going to just keep layering and layering those because there's a lot going stories on yeah and uh and some of the some of the threads have woven together but some of them have not yet and I'm interested to see that's right how yeah well I assume they will be weird if they didn't cuz what the [ __ ]

was that for yeah well that's right as far as I know as far as I know they're still going they haven't been canceled yet which is odd for a show that we love um especially science fiction right so you know cut those off real quick as far as I know even if they haven't wrapped up some of the story lines that they still plan to yep yeah well there's just a couple of sequences where I'm not I don't know what I don't know why I I didn't I enjoyed watching a thing happen I just don't know what the relevance of it was yet yeah there's a couple of things like that I know exactly what you mean yeah yeah I don't know why I saw that yet but I'm sure I will yeah and then when you look back on it I'm sure you'll it'll enrich itself in your memory even more exactly it'll make sense yeah great and

beautiful just so beautifully short oh I know yeah like yeah like I I would say even I I I think my Pinnacle for television episodic science fiction has always been Battlestar Galactica because I feel they took Sci-Fi TV and just just one uped it just leveled it up in a way that was unexpected and and and Brilliant yeah and I feel this this Builds on that because it's reminiscent of battl star in many many ways but also just adds a layer of artistry to the photography and the set designs and everything that I just feel is just so so valuable you know yeah it's very convincing like yeah yeah like like it's you know like sometimes you watch a TV show and it looks like a TV show this

does not look like yeah looks like TV yeah this just looks like like like a movie it just looks like they filming on a spaceship like yeah and not just a movie like there even in the pilot episode in the first episode there's there's some specific scenes where I'm just like [ __ ] hell man I've never seen a movie looked this good yeah totally you know I read uh I finished that [ __ ] zero gravity sex scene yes I know like and all all the Zer G stuff like it's it's solid yeah yeah I finished that sorry to bring it back to Star Wars again sorry Craig um oh please do Craig just calm it down mate calm it down I finished that book the one I was the the Star Wars book and uh the secret history no no no this was how Star Wars conquered the universe oh that's right

yeah um and there was a section about how uh well first of all it kind of changed my opinion of George Lucas a bit in the late years sounds like he turned into a bit of a knob um oh okay well lost perspective sounds like a lot of projects that got canned uh one example was remember that 1313 game yes the the bounty hunting game Apparently one of the issues that they had that caused it to be canceled was that uh George Lucas wandered in one day like deep deep into production looked at it and said this game is now about Boba Fett and then like well you can't this too late and then he was like No And then yeah so that happened apparently yeah of course that that certainly does align

with what we do know yes he he he likes to fiddle with things apparently certainly does any respect and he likes to bring everything back to the core elements yeah the Clone Wars uh series was not supposed to have any main characters in it the whole plan was to do a new thing and then he said and then and then he they pitched him and what about Obi-Wan no it needs to be about Obi-Wan and Anakin and then they were like all right fine that's happening then but so then the budget for that went through the roof and then the other one I was going to mention was there was uh there were plans they talked about it for years I'm sure you recall about Star Wars TV shows and oh yeah yeah uh you reminded me just them because one of the things that they were they were spending

a lot of time doing was researching how Battlestar Galactica did what they did on their budget because whenever they tried to come up with like George would come up with [ __ ] ideas and then the budget would just go it' be like $20 million an episode and they were like we can't do it that's right yeah couldn't do it yeah even if literally everyone in the world watches it we still wouldn't make any money exactly and so but they just couldn't make it happen because he wouldn't yeah yeah there was there was just no middle ground ever wouldn't turn it down never happened that's right that's so interesting you know I read a really interesting Theory the other day um spoilers if anyone hasn't watched a bunch of Star Wars movies but I mean that doesn't really count here so sure

but um I read that it is no accident that original trilogy characters are being killed off from the current Disney Star Wars movies because anytime that Disney make a film with Han Luke or Leia in it they have to pay George Lucas sure I mean it's a cynical point of view but it it makes sense like if you can get people to love Ray and Finn and po just as much as they loved Luke and Han and Leia then well why are we paying this old man a whole shitload of money because I think what people don't understand too is that Disney didn't buy Star Wars lockstock and Barrel they bought the licensing rights to Star Wars they bought the rights to make more

movies they bought the rights to distribute the original films in certain forms but not others like George Lucas still retains a lot of control sure especially over his own characters yeah well it's just business was obviously an accident but yeah was it was it Dan oh oh Jesus you know what we should kill off Carrie Fisher because uh I don't you mean to say princess ler no no I I yeah I think I made myself perfectly clear yeah yeah well from the sounds of it they tried to kill off Harrison Ford in uh Force awakens I mean he was certainly injured well he he's try character off since the beginning I know well they seem to be trying to kill off

Daniel Craig too and I don't mean James Bond I mean they seem to be trying to kill Daniel Craig on bond 25 as well oh is he is he injured again yeah he's injured again [ __ ] he's off they've shut down production cuz he's injured oh God no trailer teaser trailer did you see that no it's not it's not a trailer for the film it's like a behind the scenes little sneak peek just basically because the studio were paranoid that like [ __ ] this might never get made and people might forget who James Bond is by the time this comes out yeah right yeah [ __ ] H I watched I watched something this week I know you've seen uh I watched the sin season 2 because it came out on I know you watched and loved the sin season one so I'm very interested to hear what you thought of this because it

is quite different yeah it is actually uh and uh I really enjoyed it I enjoyed the first season more I'm so glad you did I really I enjoyed it and I I picked I I kind of picked what was what was going on early in this uh maybe because I'm just cynical and I was like oh it's going to this is what's going to happen um yeah yeah yeah but but I did really enjoy yeah and I also don't think it was as big a stretch as the plot in the Sin season 1 right where that really did blow my [ __ ] mind you know yeah because you couldn't have really guessed no that's right you had no idea and in fact the The Genius of The Sinner was that it gave you all the information you needed so you never felt it was a mystery sure except that you knew [ __ ] nothing right and that that's

why it was so good because you never knew you were behind the Apple but you always were yeah yeah not so much but I still liked it a lot no I liked it I that kid was a the kid's good actor uh so that was that was good uh I'm always surprised when kids are good in in shows I guess it shouldn't be these days but there was a period whenever a kid was in something it was like oh God I agree completely agree you just wouldn't watch something if there was a kid in it yeah cuz it's just not going to be convincing yeah it seemed like in the 80s it really peaked things like the never- Ending Story that had fantastic kid actor performances yeah and then and then just awful and then The Phantom Menace came along yeah that's right oh my god um yeah yeah and then all the other all the other

performances were great it's got what's his name from [ __ ] man of the High castles in it I think you told me that at the time but I didn't remember and then when he showed up I was like oh you see a photo of him first and I was like oh my God it's that gu yeah that's right and the mother is from the third season of no sorry this yeah the third season of of Fargo which you haven't you haven't got that far you should on were they doing here's something I finished I asked Jenna what she thought we weren't sure right they did a great job of making her look differently aged in the flashbacks yeah like was that dig or is she completely subtle way right like is it just just a haircut or that was very convincing it's literally just the way that they did her hair and makeup and

and her clothes as well and and and I was trying to figure out is she does she actually in real life look like the young version or the older version cuz that was very convincing or halfway in between maybe yeah yeah that was that was really well done yeah I agree so yeah C season 2 really good bill Pullman's just [ __ ] great I love how magnificent his performance in it it's just so like it's just so real like the it's not like a TV show like when he's there's that he's at the party and he's having those awkward conversations with people cuz he's just I'm like it just fing stri a man that you swear that Bill Pullman doesn't like being in this show yeah you know like he he just seems so out doesn't seem to want to be anywhere yeah it's so

convincing yeah he's just talking to all those guys at the party and they're all like yeah how's it going mate oh and then he's just like yeah I I know the SC you mean but also anytime he speaks because season 2 he's kind of back in his hometown right so it's anytime he's speaking to anyone it's like yeah this is the reason I left the first time around I don't really fit in here yeah like but just like in a really visceral way like he's just so uncomfortable but yeah yeah [ __ ] great hope they do more just CU I yeah and I thought it was interesting because obviously the C season 1 he played the detective yes that was just kind of a supporting character to the main narrative and then red herring waiting to make you think that maybe they're the killer right

right yeah you know yeah everybody's got a TV show they can explore that that's right more yeah and in a show like The Killing um which I've actually kind of forgotten about I there's probably seasons of that I still haven't seen um I think I've only seen three so there's probably there probably still one out there I'm going to look into that but uh you know that's I mean that's the same for me it's just like just interesting people going about interesting lives and also there's been a murder yeah you can we we I'm sure we may have talked about this but what's his [ __ ] what's his name the guy from that uh who was yeah the the um he wanted to be RoboCop um Rober and uh uh Joel kinman yeah Joel kinman man he's [ __ ] tops

for starters like what a great actor yeah uh but but second like what a transformation from like that character like physical transformation for starters cuz he's [ __ ] jacked these days like was he jacked at the time he was a [ __ ] junky no man he look like a [ __ ] drug addict or was that just a good physical performance like like but yeah man I would not have picked that guy going on to become a [ __ ] you know like studly [ __ ] you know sex and even in things like the the academy award-winning um suici Suicide Squad yes yeah yeah but also let's not forget he's English as a second language oh yeah he Swedish he's [ __ ] Danish Swedish or something like that yeah but like like all those accents are fake CU he speaks Danish

yeah fantastic the way he speaks in the killing is completely different from you know he was in was aled carbon he's [ __ ] jacked in that yeah oh yeah man yeah yeah oh you know what I finally caught up on uh which I hadn't seen when we discussed it on this podcast ep's a bit gay I just noticed we're just talking about men we like yeah suppose it is yeah there [ __ ] nothing gay about thinking that Joel kenan's awesome I mean there's more RoboCop news coming up if we want to talk about how gay we are for Neil Blom Camp as well well he's he's this is sad news in that case I know I know he's uh he's he's dropped out he's not he's not doing it yeah yeah know they they he's got he's got another commitment he's

doing a I think a horror film and the the studi said well now we're filming robic cop now and so yeah he's had to drop out which is so weird like I know so who's we don't know who's going to do it but no we we don't know forit no it definitely doesn't and I think that might have just been a way to get get him off the project I I don't know why the studio would want him off the project but it's you know if you want someone on your on your film you make it work you know yeah and films don't take that long to do so if he was doing a little indie horror movie right you've definitely got time just make him do a bit of extra homework doing a bit of pre-production and then yeah well unless I guess we don't know what the the business side of it is maybe they

need to get this movie out to make their [ __ ] you know to keep their license or something like that yeah or to you know they've got targets if the meet for [ __ ] some period or some garage I don't know if RoboCop's let necessarily like a [ __ ] guaranteed gold M I know but we like to think I I feel like and again this is the cynical part of me coming up but we' like to think of films as kind of art almost but most of the time not it's like these Star Wars films like the people in charge don't give a [ __ ] about what we think about Star Wars from our childhood they're just looking at the bottom line no no yeah and look and and when the bottom line is dependent on it being a good film yeah then they then they do come on board like I I really do honestly believe that

the people behind Marvel Studios know that the reason they make more money is because their films are better films yes so they try to make better films but at the end of the day it's not cuz they're a bunch of artists it's cuz they know that makes more money and and just to be clear I'm not talking about Neil Blom Camp I'm I believe that Neil Blum Camp does care about RoboCop in the way that we do I'm talking about the people that just fired him because he didn't have the time for it right now those people don't always admire about yeah for sure exactly and and like also you and I in particular and other people our age we watch RoboCop as a [ __ ] Masterpiece of 80s

science fiction film making yeah there's like this we could we could do a whole entire podcast just on you know a thesis on RoboCop totally but for most people that you ask they'd probably be like do you mean that [ __ ] shitty action movie from the 80s about a Robocop yeah yeah exactly so you know like I think I think we're putting a bit more emphasis on it than like when they when they green it wasn't because some [ __ ] executive producer you know at Fox or wherever was like I just really love RoboCop it was because they were looking at a this of what do we own that we can can spit out to make money what yeah what's not going to cost us a lot and that might make a lot of return yeah what are what are people nostalgic about that we can [ __ ] out a sequel to yeah that's right yeah

the people that used to get paid by their parents to go to the movies are now buying their own tickets what do they want to right the thing about Blom Camp though that I really admire is that he obviously he was the maker of commercials and short films he made a great short film called alive in jber that we all watched before it was anything more than just a short film that he then turned into District 9 which was [ __ ] amazing MH um chappie was a short too sort of there was the yeah it was it was not called that and it was different in story but that's right yeah it was about the yeah exactly and I mean he came from a background of visual effects and so he was always making characters I think chappie was a character he had come up with previously

yeah um but he seems to be so Jaded by the Hollywood System that he still finds a way to make short films like there's always a short film Neil Blom Camp is working on yeah totally and like we all [ __ ] know I mean we know there's no money in short films unless somebody can buy a movie ticket to it there's no m in it well he did I remember when he just loves making films yeah exactly I I remember when live and Joo came out and the thing about it and this is probably not going to be impressive to to people these days cuz you can do this [ __ ] on your phone now but the special effects in it the way that it was handheld camera yes with visual effects done on a low budget yeah because it was before motion tracking was a thing yeah and it was like how the

[ __ ] did they how how did they get that spaceship in the handheld shot yeah looks like a handy cam was just whipping around and yet there's a spaceship that couldn't possibly have been there on the day cuz you had to lock the camera off if you wanted to add a spaceship in back in the day CU otherwise it was going to wasn't going to look right yeah yeah that's right and now you can download the uh cine FX app and just [ __ ] do it yourself yeah do it on your phone but that was not possible in when the '90s I guess was yeah I remember we were sharing around live at Jo and just saying look [ __ ] this suck some some nerd in South Africa has made this radical short film and then we were just like [ __ ] all right this guy's destined for big things and yeah and well I think

Peter Jackson saw that same short film and and thought the same thing and funded uh District 9 yeah and then he just got kind of swallowed up by the Hollywood system which is unfortunate what's alysium he did and then uh something else too uh I didn't love aium no no it's got It's got a lot of stuff I like in it but it's not not as good as uh not great let's be honest and then no and there's there's one or two things about it that I particularly dislike yeah right I'm uh talking about kind of writing and performance- wise I'm specifically talking about the [ __ ] bad guy I thought she was horribly written and horribly performed and kind of an insult to the intelligence audience yeah Jody Foster yeah okay if you want to name names sure it's

Jody calling you out I mean not the people couldn't have found that out themselves subcription I just I just did not feel like I could just literally just if you're Foster name names patreon.com multipl nerdgasm you yeah uh I got a brief update well this this is a little a little older news now but of interest because we had talked about uh Movie Pass which was the service here in the US that I was I was a member of did you say was was the service well I I maybe maybe it's still going I'm not sure I canceled mine because it was too [ __ ] random I didn't I didn't work I have to check on a given day whether I'm actually allowed to see any movies or not which defeats the purpose of it um

but one thing that they did uh it's come out now I think some documents got leaked uh and when so okay for listeners who don't know Movie Pass was a service in the US uh where you pay basically when I was a member it was 10 bucks a month and you could just go see a movie every day uh any movie at the time uh and for free not for free because you pay 10 bucks a month but yeah like Netflix Netflix of Cinema yeah yeah and over time they changed I sign I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat right well I did but then they changed it and then it was there were restrictions it was only certain movies and then it was only certain times a day and they just tried all this stuff cuz they were just bleeding money all over the place cuz you know it was not a working bus model yeah yeah

and then and then I canel mine because it was just like I said I have to if I wanted to go see a movie I'd have to check what are the rules right now like can I even go and see this and then it was just stupid yeah um and it's come out now that something that they did when uh endgame Avengers endgame came out they were like okay we've got a uh there's a segment of our users who see a fuckload of movies and they're costing us tons and tons of money they're going to go see endgame every day right what can we do to to prevent that CU we can't afford to keep going like this so they came up with a brilliant idea apparently their CEO said just change their passwords on them then they can't log into the app and they won't be able to

go and what so they did they uh what they just changed people's passwords on them and so they couldn't go to the movies what yeah I know right genius that can't be a thing no they did apparently they did wow wow so [ __ ] you movie pass yeah wow I mean that's that's I'm say allegedly allegedly you know don't sue me I'm just this is what the Verge oh nothing to do with us there's an article here this is It's been alleged that uh that that according to the the CEO said just change their passwords if they can't log into the app they can't go see the movie

so problem solved but didn't they get bombarded with complaints just just ignore them Danny just fair yeah yeah just ignore just don't answer the phone yeah and then once endgame is out of Cinemas just address them say oh sorry about that [ __ ] genius so yes movie part pass not long is it still going let me check movie thank you for your patience uh Movie Pass has been restored oh you can't sign up right now okay I I you have to join the waiting list well it sounds like they're going great and it's now $20 a month which is twice what it was when I was a member true but if you and a friend go

once a month that's still 20 bucks worth so but like my biggest concern with it is my experience with it sucked because well it worked really really well and I loved it for about six months and then at a certain point they ran out of money and they couldn't get any more money cuz they I guess they catched in all the credit that they had with the banks and whatever sure and so they just started changing the rules and and it was like I said every day the rules were different and I couldn't see a movie that I wanted to see so what's the point of it yeah well absolutely right and then now all the actually one positive that came out all of the cinemas here now have their own Subscription Service uh if you want they they're more expensive obviously because the price

point was was a joke but well I mean in this day and age where most Cinemas play most movies that's probably viable you know back in the day you had to kind of you know go to a specific Cinema to see a specific film but most of the most of the theaters in this area uh Showcase Cinemas and showcase has a subscription service that I think is I think it's 20 a month off the top of my head uh and I I don't know what the restrictions are if there are any but uh you know that's that's better than they're not having anything at all so if it if it's 20 bucks a month with absolutely no restrictions then I think it's probably worth it if you absolutely if you go more than twice a many movies as we do yeah yeah yeah or even if you just want to go more than twice a month

you know what I mean like maybe you wouldn't go but if you had a subscription you're like [ __ ] it it's the I'll go to the movies I saw films I wouldn't have bothered when cuz I was like why not like yeah well I remember when I was a kid the penth Panthers Leagues Club had a cinema that if you were a member tickets were free yep completely free and you could go to see every session of it if you wanted to and if someone in your family had a membership you essentially had a membership too so there was one summer where I just saw every movie every movie yeah because why not yeah it's like oh I would never go see this [ __ ] it I'll go and see it when you we love movies we'll see them like yeah yeah a lot of people

have put in an effort to make this a good movie even if it wasn't something that was on my radar I'll you know I'll let's go and see it yeah I'll tell you a movie you won't be seeing unfortunately is the hunt okay are you are you familiar with the hunt uh I'm not familiar with the hunt so I uh I I I knew about the hunt because it stars Glenn Howton who who is uh okay one of my my favorite people uh in the world actors from Glen hton from Always Sunny in Philadelphia [ __ ] hilarious guy sure yeah and he's also in uh what's the other show he's in there uh AP Bio he's in oh okay anyway Fu hilarious know that is but if he's in it I'd consider seeing it he was in a film called The Hunt I don't think he's a

main character but he had he had a role in it so he was sharing uh trailers and whatnot on his Instagram so I was aware of this film The the story of the film is that a bunch of uh really Lefty people are kidnapping uh I think you know really right- wiy people and hunting them for SP oh no I did see this yeah yeah yeah know I saw this I saw this trailer yeah uh yeah yeah well they've canel it completely because of I think specifically because of the recent shootings um and the and the I guess the it's a parody obviously of the Very extreme politics yeah in the world these days uh but I think because of the extreme politics they've had to cancel it I think that's what it BS right does that also mean I can't watch jeanclaude

Van Dam's '90s classic nowhere to run which is basically also the same uh premise uh I think you could probably still get that one I mean this I think hopefully this will still have a release of some sort on uh you know on on digital or or dvd well DVD obviously but you know hopefully they'll still get some sort of they not going to be in theaters they've canceled it so yeah that's a shame at first they just canceled the ads and then they canceled the release like a week later it's got Hillary Swank in well look I mean I I guess the reason they've look people don't students don't cancel movies because they're going to offend people they cancel movies because it's going to cost them more to play it than it will make them yeah so obviously they think

there's going to be a big enough boycott of this movie that it's just not worth their while right you might as well shove it and then maybe later on they can release it and get some money yeah yeah uh which is a shame because it certainly does feel like censorship doesn't it yeah I guess um it's just like oh this topic is taboo now therefore you can't I mean it's like it's like Louis CK's movie about um what is and what isn't sexual harassment that came out right before it came out that he was sexually harass harassing people sure yeah yeah I I mean I can see why you wouldn't release the film I'll be honest yeah so fair enough I just it's just a shame I feel I I know doent no no I know but but if it's if people aren't you know people are

going to be Mass massively against it or upset by it I mean yeah you don't want to be on the wrong side of History Pi battles like yeah absolutely I just feel bad for like I said the actors and the and the it was written by Damon Lindelof uh oh man yeah I mean I mean he's fine he's got up yeah yeah you'll just start something else he's fine yeah so yeah it uh obviously it went nowhere if if he wrote it it was just he they just made it up oh yeah yeah would wouldn't have been an ending definitely wouldn't have been an ending that's a lost joke if listeners yeah don't know who Damon lindeloff is good though I like him uh yeah I like I like the way he writes I just don't like the way he writes endings yeah well that was lost was an

experiment I think you I think you got to give him credit I love Mane I I give him all props for that I lost was amazing I'm Sor they deserve more credit for it than that I understand why people were pissed off about it but like if you knew that's what they were doing you shouldn't have been surprised like exactly right yeah when they wrote the pilot of that they had nobody's backstory written yes they had no idea where they were going like they did what they set out to do with lost and then if if it got to the end and you realized that's what they were doing and you didn't like it sorry that but that exactly that was the plan all along was would just throw [ __ ] at the wall and see what works yeah yeah it's a mystery that never stops being a mystery yeah

that's right and in all the there's that hilarious College Humor video where it's like all the Loose Ends that they never followed up on yeah they know they did it on purpose yeah that's right yeah they were just like I'm going to put a polar bear in there why no reason yeah we'll figure that out later if people talk about it if if if no one if no one on the Internet is wondering about yeah we just we'll ignore it yeah yeah and if people start like we we wrote a hatch into one episode that we didn't think we're ever going to come back to and then everyone was like what's in the hatch so we were like well I don't know maybe we'll show you yeah season 2 is about to hatch now because you reacted to the hatch cuz yeah that's right cuz you going to freak the [ __ ] out about

the hatch yeah it's pretty I mean I don't know I like it I'm into it man I appreciate it I'm into it and I actually thought I I didn't watch it when it aired uh it was just way too much hype about it and I had other things to watch and then when I went back and started watching season one I was like oh holy [ __ ] I was totally wrong and I was a snob and this is great yeah you know like this is just so good and then for me at least until the third season it got consecutively better sure and then maybe it tap it off after that yeah well a certain till the end they had you know and then I guess is the politics and and the goings on behind it I guess shouldn't matter but they they do matter to me and you know the stuff like Michelle Rodriguez was in

it for a bit and then it's like her character just disappeared cuz she got done for DUI in Hawaii when they were filming it and so she couldn't be on the show anymore and like yeah I know that sucks and it but I feel like if you know that then I don't know yeah it's it's a weird one and the ending to be honest I mean how the [ __ ] could they have ended this I think they did pretty well considering exactly what would have been satisfying for everyone how do you end a show that you were making up as you went along they did all right that's right yeah yeah no they did fine it's like when you sit down as a not that I would know but you know you make up there story as you

tips number one mhm master your early landing and Route no when fights will take place and how you will have an advantage in them tip number two practice your mechanics as a warm-up every day aiming editing and building drills number three wow drills have a dedicated practice schedule set amounts of time that you can do every day for noticeable results box fights the yep step four box fights the most crucial part of this game is being able to fight while box to box next to another player whatever the [ __ ] that means what that means practice these in creative mode against a friend and learn new strategies and then number five use video on demand to watch your own games back and evaluate why you died and why I know it's like a golf player now yeah especially the sequence before also very

useful is watching live streams of other professionals and I know I'm being cynical because this is that's literally how it is these days but just to read a video game I know taken this seriously blows my mind practice every day man these guys are these guys are making serious money off of it in a video game aiming drills you got to practice your aiming like I practiced my aiming in Fallout in uh Far Cry 5 by playing the game yeah oh we'll get back to that in a sec but you look the fact that you can get a coach for this is is certainly a new phenomenon but I remember back in the day of the Super Nintendo if you used to read Super Nintendo magazine there was a hotline you could call if you ever got stuck in

a game yes did you you remember that did you ever call the hotline no I used to get those do you remember the books you could buy that had uh there were the hint books and they had the Little Red film that you could reveal the like so it was written with a absolutely I don't know how to describe this I had Castlevania 2 Simon quest one of those so the the the the text was obscured by like a an image and to read the text in case you didn't want to spoil yourself you had to put this red cellophane over the top and it would film over it yeah so it would reveal the text so uh any listeners under the age of [ __ ] 35 talking about yeah exactly but I had side of that yeah oh yeah y um we I

can't remember what game it was I can't no I can't remember but we we rang once and and this is in an era too arguably where video games were less complicated than they are now like maybe a game like fortnite not that I've played it needs strategies and needs you know drills but we called up for something lord of the sword or [ __ ] aled beast or something and basically the expert on the other end of this hotline was like just keep trying until you get through like that was their advice either that or if you know in the case of a game like zorc or you know the old police Quest games it's just literally look at what verb [ __ ] noun combination do I need to progress past you already know what to do you just don't know what exact phrasing you have to use yeah exactly type make sure

you pick up the pen microphone before you enter the base at the end of [ __ ] need it because you cannot go back for it that's a police Quest reference if anyone knows certainly is yeah yeah and we all know the frustration of getting into that guy [ __ ] penous and not having the pen to record him on and it just like oh you should have done that like half the [ __ ] game you [ __ ] you played so many hands of poker a game that you are too young to understand how to actually win at and you can no longer finish the game yeah bastard I uh I played through um on the scum VM the uh Indiana Jones in the Last Crusade Adventure game recently yeah um very very good game but um the ending is [ __ ] nonsensical and if anyone got it without an FAQ back in

the day uh my hat is off to you because like I just like when I read what you had to do I was like oh okay that's fine cuz I would have never ever done that in a million [ __ ] years have we talked about uh I think Last Crusade might be one of the first game does it when they first started making those adventure games like Maniac mansion in particular um yeah Ron Gilbert uh who who who was the designer of of both of I um yeah he was at least the writer of of Indie I don't know if he necessarily designed it but yeah he was certainly well when they did Maniac Mansion there was situations where you could get stuck basically yeah you just couldn't finish the game yeah and so he came up with uh you can look this up on his website actually he they're called puzzle

dependency charts which is this system that he developed that they he uses for every game from now on even like death spank which is a game he did more recently on Xbox uh which is more of a role playing game he uses these puzzle dependency charts which it's basically a flow chart right that yeah ensures that you can't ever get stuck because and I'm not going to go into the details of it but he's got an article on his site about how it works and it's just so simple but so like necessary and I think I think maybe Last Crusade was the first game to use them but like definitely Monkey Island those games use it and that's why in in the Lucas Arts games you never got stuck in a way that you couldn't finish the game you might get stuck at a puzzle um yeah and you might

you might not get as many points for one ending as you would for another ending but right but then with the you know some of the Sierra games they they weren't doing that and so you could literally just get stuck yeah basically and the Sierra games got better as time went on too but like the original um police Quest and king's quest and space Quest like you could not know why you can't finish the game but you can't right because you don't have the piece of glass from the crash spaceship to get past the laser in space you also don't know and there's no internet to tell you this so you don't know that you're trying in vain to finish the game also I just it's I I have these [ __ ] examples in my head of of when this happened like that that's an actual

example from space Quest that uh I am aware of because I got it wrong and I'm I will never forget that because I was like [ __ ] you exactly you would exactly exactly should not be impossible to go back and get that piece of glass yeah that's right no which is why they fixed it up by at a certain point even in the king's quest and the seea games like that too but Maniac Mansion is notorious for that there's several instances in the game that if you don't do something in the right order you just cannot win and you don't know that you can't so you'll just keep trying oh and Zack McCracken too I think yeah another great game mind you I look I I love retro games everyone knows this and I I play I play a lot and I I kind of troll the abandoned we sites for games that I've

forgotten about or or never gotten around to playing but I'll say this there's a reason the ones we remember fondly are the ones we remember fondly and the ones that we have forgotten about have forgotten well here but before we go I want to put out a an ask to the listeners and this is a this is a obscure ask and I'm not I'm not really I don't think I'm ever going to get an answer to this cuz I've actually been looking for a game it's a game that I used to play on my Commodore 64 so that already that already a bit of a barrier because you have to have had a com 64 there is a game yeah where uh you fly a spaceship kind of like Defender left to right around the world uh and then you do fight alien ships and stuff but also part of it is you have to pick up and

rescue uh people on the ground right but before you can do that you have to kill enough enemies that you can save up and buy a tractor beam to pick up the people on the ground right and rescue them and then uh and then the specifics become a bit blurry after that but at some point the game moves off into space and then you fly and you have to destroy I believe a giant laser on a planet somewhere okay and it's I mean it sounds great I don't know what the name of this game is I always thought it was called Space Ace but I cannot find a game like I can find games called space a but they're not this game right yeah so listeners if you have any [ __ ] idea what this game is I just really want to find a copy of it to play on an emulator or something and just just CU I really
