Graphic Boxers: Benioff and Weiss Exit Star Wars & Mandalorian Trailer

I was getting dressed yesterday that's good for a change and I was putting on my underwear okay that's I mean we really we're really stepping it up these days welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy so not wearing a kilt yesterday then no no I was wearing pants yesterday so I was putting on under and I start thinking see I own quite a few pairs of Star Wars underwear okay I'm wondering if that's sort of a normal thing for a person my age so I thought I'd ask you guys like how many pairs of Star Wars underwear do you own um I think just a single pair at this point

right now current currently none and I feel like I've let the team down I've got like five or six I think I can go an entire week just in Star Wars underway I mean there's been times where I've definitely had Star Wars underwear for sure and when they're like like graphic boxers came into gra graphic [ __ ] graphic that you know I certainly I certainly had my share of Star Wars Prince but just cuz I was also um last week it sort of for casual day at work and everyone goes to work and they're all s of like wearing plain shirts just wearing his underwear how do you know what underwear they were wearing though no no no but I'm just saying like they're all sort of wearing plain shirts like every day that I go

like it was casual I've got like some pop culture reference on my shirt or oh yeah I dress like a teenager yeah but then I go to work and it's just yeah they're casual which means yet they're just wearing a different kind of t-shirt or a polo shirt polo shirt I don't own any po polar shirt I own one and it's a Star Wars one I own quite a few actually yeah yeah but you dress like an adult I feel actually that's not you don't always you do more than we do but you don't always no that's true both of those things are true yeah I do have my adult wear for when it's required y but then I've also just got my skinny jeans and v-neck that I've just always gone to as as my costume well I wear uh this is not a paid advertisement because they've

never approached is at all uh but I wear mandies and uh oh sure we will happily take your money if you want to yeah uh no they're very comfortable I recommend them but uh I have a Star Wars print of them just the one I think they do star they do oh for me for me it's just like um I'll just be Big W or something yeah we don't have those I me we have the big American chain so if if if an H&M has it and maybe H&M might have it they got some stuff you know what I'm going to check for next week next week on the podcast oh guys I'm not here next week sorry the we after to bring this up on air yeah I've got a work trip I've got a [ __ ] work trip and I don't mean I'm I'm shooting overseas I mean my

colleagues and I are being forced to go away for a work weekend team building a team bonding yeah for that's a big American thing isn't it Friday Saturday Sunday Monday all of us separately have tried our absolute hardest to get out of this and it's just it's down to the wire now it's who the [ __ ] wants it who's organizing it then our boss boss the one person who wants it to happen yeah y yeah and and the person who just some reason despite what everyone tells her thinks that everyone wants this is she new oh no best not to talk about your boss yeah yeah no I just what saying like sometimes when people are new to a role this is like they they want to make like one big statement this is we're doing Luke was scared about talking about it D does not give a [ __ ] I was

look I held back when I was going to make the joke that um one person forcing nine people to do something was like reverse gang rape and I held that back okay so I just want you guys to be proud of me I am proud of you I really feel like that's just that's not something we should bring up so I'm glad you didn't bring it up yeah yeah exactly Matt do you go on any team bonding things cuz I really do feel that's an American thing we do we go we have company events uh we do have the clan bake I've talked about the clan bake before haven't I yeah that sounds like a [ __ ] lesbian bar in [Laughter] Detroit thanks for the specificity there yeah no I mean it's not it's not a lesbian bar in a nice city you know what I mean Detroit's quite nice no it's not

downtown downtown Detroit is quite nice there's one yeah there's one block that's nice uh yeah no we do a few things they're they're fun I have fun I mean it's not like 4 days overseas uh generally speaking for you know a day here or there or like an even you could suggest that idea I'm legitimately worried that it's the Beach oh you don't know where you're going no it's a [ __ ] surprise Matt you think it's like the beach starring uh Leonard DiCaprio you go the remote island with marijuana plants growing everywhere yeah that's right yeah and he like it's a surprise Tri trip but you're going overseas somewhere to different country um you say the beach but I think they shot that on um on either colanta or kofifi or uh some one of the Thai islands and I'm 90% sure it's going to

be one of them so you're more right than you know all right fair enough yeah I couldn't be less excited about this watch out for sharks then I watched that movie recently because it's on Netflix does not age well really the beach yeah I I remember being very good yeah I remember it being like quite intense and you know a little bit philosophical as well uh no it's not I remember not watching it cuz I wasn't much of a Leo fan yeah I think that was the attitude you and McGregor took because apparently he was originally promised that role and then really yeah and then Dany Bo who had used him in all of his movies was like you know what he ain't young and pretty enough a a well he showed him we love you you now he's Oban

Kenobi yeah so [ __ ] you Leo who are you everyone else I guess Danny Bo don't do James Bond then see if we get he's pulled out of that he's not doing James Bond anymore no I'm uh I'm okay with that actually yeah maybe no one should do James Bond anymore yeah I mean it's getting to that point isn't it I I almost feel like this one could be the you don't even watch them anymore Luke I would love crap if I was in it it' go back to the funay no he's in it now he's not directing it he's in it he's in it he stars as James Bond look this is probably a good opportunity I do want to dig deeper on this uh I do uh but before we do I just want to bring up that uh a listener of our podcast qu um thought we were doing a bit last week when um when we called Luke out on

knowing a lot about acting because he now takes acting classes um and I just want to say to any of our listeners who also thought that that's not a bit Luke is legitimately enrolled in active lessons now I've been to three lessons so far or something okay so um what have you learned any more method uh no I I refused to take part in method okay so at the part of each class where they're like okay now we're getting into character he like well I'm going out for a smoke yeah no I no she even the the person teacher class when she doesn't like method acting oh so you're all right you're on I'm okay but we got our first script read through I don't like method acting it well she said it's not healthy for people which is probably not yeah fair enough yeah depends on what your

method acting yourself into being yeah well look I mean I think um yeah sure I mean if if you're method acting yourself into being an unhealthy person I can I can see it being quite detrimental but I've got my script which I meant to read through for tomorrow night and then we'll read through the scripts and then we'll decide what we're going to perform in a month's time I wonder if that could work in a drama class you could just walk up to one of your uh you know your co- students and be like oh by the way I'm method acting as a guy who's going to [ __ ] you later tonight and they'll have no choice because that's what method acting is yeah you just have you just have to let that person do whatever the [ __ ] they want it might be a good pickup line

yeah so have you been cast in your performance yet no we've just been given a script to audition well it's sort of an audition so everyone's got a with a few scripts around they've said like you read this part and then we're all just going to sit around read parts and then we're going to work out who's going to be best in what role all right they're just little skits are you allowed to tell us the the subject of the scripts I am meant to be the boss in the firing Terry Skitch okay firing Terry small shoe yeah that's interesting you should bring that in don't mention it but just use that use that as your backstory and your emotional recall on the day yep can do so what we've learned Luke don't forget about this um what we've learned from Robert patson method actor is that

what you need to do is do a 180 on everything you did in rehearsal yeah so if they tell me not to masturbate that's the first thing I do they probably won't mention it because they won't just won't be expecting it and so that's what you got to do that's how you always get you've got to F character would be yeah yeah put me in a locked room I'm going to masturbate you're [ __ ] f yeah I'd watch it I'd watch that play So how do we watch the play how listeners get to see this I can invite everyone okay do we know the dates because I'll be back in Sydney uh at the end of the year is it going to be in Christmas I'll drive up to camera to watch play second of December a it's a little bit early I'm afraid yeah sorry yeah but if anyone wants to

couple of days last week where I thought the Pirate Bay was gone forever but thankfully it's back where it was oh is it yeah I legitimately got worried because it was down for longer than it normally is well yeah I haven't used it in so long so yeah I don't even know any other sites anymore I'm scared to use the bar Bay here in the US you can you get arrested for that [ __ ] I think you yeah oh you I mean I don't know if you get arrested here but I mean they do arrest you for a lot of things here cuz remember they tried to yeah Australia take to court in Australia and the judge went no yeah I think that's I think that's how it works know people that have gotten cease and assist letters yeah right but I forget I forget what movie it was but yeah they wanted

to go out and know when we want to charge people and the judge has gone look you can send it out but anything you send out I want to see first so I can see if you're sending out something reasonable and then they just went ahead with it and he went no not going any further now oh there you go cuz he was basically saying like you can request money but a sensible amount like the cost of the movie plus a little bit extra but they were going out stupid for going for thousands of dollars yeah right well the film cost $50 million honestly that's all I'm asking for I will happily pay the cost of each movie that I download if there was one database where everything was available that's that's what I want and that's what we were getting to

that but cuz when Netflix finally came out there was a couple but now there's like everyone's got their own streaming service and we're going back to this fragmented reality which everyone hates Disney we're in a fragmented reality again this podcast has gone super philosophical now but I'm hoping Disney plus is good cuz they're going to have all of Fox's back catalog you'll have to tell us mate because you get it before not everything though right AR they not having everything well I don't know I don't know it's confusing like I see all the movies but I haven't seen much on their television yeah Matt will find out first he oh Matt will find out first okay I'll find not at all November 12th I find out yeah you'll find out that's that's like less

than weeks yeah and that's when the Mandalorian start drops as well man I'll be watching exciting I need to somehow it'sand the 19th got the Mandalorian it's got the world according to Jeff gold Blum on the National Geographic Chanel I'll check that out uh into the unknown the making of Frozen 2 okay one division yeah maybe 30 seasons of The Simpsons in case I have a feel like watching all that okay and and honestly like seasons 3 through seven were quite good so enjoy yeah all those others but I've seen I've seen 37 a million times I would I maybe wouldn't mind watching one of the newer season no man they're hard to watch they really are yeah it's weird the don't think I've seen the last 20

yeah I told you I read that essay about The Simpsons that was like the the good seasons were good because the Simpsons was just all the characters were just joke delivery and they didn't worry about [ __ ] consistency or like you know trying to carry plots over from episode to episode or anything like that every episode was like basically like pretend all the other episodes don't exist it doesn't matter these are the characters and they're just doing stuff and they even made episodes where that was a joke within the episode there was on where at the end they were like well I'm glad everything's gone exactly back to normal so that we can start again next week yeah but then they tried to make it every episode's got to have like a little lesson and then it's

got to have you know consistency and and through plots and stuff and then now it's just look I think you're absolutely right but I just want to ask since when have you been an essayist I I didn't write the essay I uh I I read it oh okay can we scroll back I'm pretty sure you claimed to wrote it no I I said I mentioned it on the podcast that I had read it I think that's oh I see sure sure it's just bragging that he can read I definit did not write an essay I haven't written an essay since high school I I thought not sure I would you were just dropping that in there that you've been publishing essays on pop culture Luke's been his acting class I've been at my essay essay writing I I would read the [ __ ] out of any essay you wrote on The Simpsons or

anything but uh you're right and what I also love about Simpsons from that uh era and I watched uh and just to be clear watched not produced a little uh YouTube video that was also on the topic of why the why the old Simpsons videos used to be so good and it was always because they weren't ever satisfied with a joke being a standalone joke there was always a secondary joke to come straight after it so it's like if you didn't laugh at the first joke if it didn't land for you then that was the setup to some other punchline yeah or one two yeah the old one two a see Luke has been learning they teach you that in drama class I I don't actually know what I'm learning in it really Jesus all right I forget how to learn things no but here's the thing

Luke it's proba like the K good he's too good yeah no I reckon it's like you you probably just be painting your drama teacher's house and you know sweeping up and all that kind of stuff but I did the teacher did ask me have I done improv before after I did a little scene okay interesting how did she phrase it did she goes oh have you done improv before or or did she say have you done improv before the first one okay do do you know what improv means yeah the emphasis is is important there I um I had this this fabulous moment that um qu is really wants me to stop talking about I can't remember if I've mentioned this or not but um last year when we were in Venice we did a cooking class Pastor

making class and uh this uh this big fat Italian chef called Luigi um came up to me at some point and in front of the entire class of like 20 people who were learning to cook on the you know the first and only day of a one-day cooking school and said to me be honest you you're quite an experienced Chef aren't you and I was like hey and I could just see rolling her eyes like oh [ __ ] I'm never gonna never gonna hear this I've seen you make eggs a lot yeah eggs are a thing man oh and a soup are so us you made soup a lot that soup your soup was good made I still make that soup I still make the three things I used to make in the 5 years I lived with you you never quite got making coffee right

though most mornings because you hadn't had a coffee yet yeah that's right I was [ __ ] useless yeah I'm going to start drinking coffee I've decided oh you should oh it's never too late to take up a bad habit well I think it's I don't know is coffee going to be better to Mountain Jew yes I would say so yeah it depends it depends on how you prepare it cuz I have a feeling you're going to put quite a lot of sugar and milk in it true yeah and if you put a lot of chemicals in it too it might be as bad as the Mountain Dew I'm going to put a little bit of milk yeah and two teaspoons of sugar all right do you okay just I'm drinking I'm drinking black coffee right now and it's delicious and I recommend you you try try that give a try look I'm I'm using a little milk in my I'm

drinking coffee right now too I don't put sugar but I put a little milk but I'm lactose andt so I use soy milk but that's that's up to you Luke that's up to you but um two spoonfuls of sugar in in a in a cup is going to be excessively sweet and if if you don't find it excessively sweet You' probably eat too much sugar uh this is have you seen how many [ __ ] nerds and runts loot consumes in a day it's a lot yeah how much sugar in Mountain ju I have cut almost all sugar out of my diet now yeah I'm trying to I do I eat a cheeky Snickers bar every now and then cuz I do like a Snickers yeah there's some things I still indulge in but for the most part I've I've yeah I'm not

saying well see I still drink soda but I only drink sugar-free soda which I know has its own problems but I drink a lot of uh Selsa water Selsa yeah they call it Selsa here you know fizzy water yeah fizzy water do you drink salsa while you're eating salsa I used to drink lots of fizzy water called tonic tonic water has got a bunch of sugar in it two yeah there's about four spoons of sugar in every tonic so fishy drinks incurring High attack rate grams of sugar per 100 Mil so Mountain Jew has 13 g of sugar per 100 Mil and I drink about five cancer out a day [ __ ] hell [ __ ] hell okay I drink it for the caffeine right yeah drink coffee meu has more caffeine than any other drink out there no I don't think that's true uh I think

oh that's not like an energy drink or Monster or one of those probably yeah that's just a straight soft drink more than Coke mate I love my diet red ball I like blue V blue v of course you do I guess blue v I guarantee is the one that's got the most sugar in it yeah Flav or something yeah yeah oh I'm actually at the point in my life now where I look at the um the caloric intake in beer now I'm like oh which beer has the the least carbs oh oh I don't I drink a I'm a craft beer douche bag so I don't have that information available to me yeah no give me the factory made stuff any day yep straight good old VB oh I don't know about that no hey so did you guys watch this Witcher trailer we've talking about

Netflix before no I I didn't you know what I didn't either it looking good yeah it looks pretty [ __ ] good I got to say I uh I'm going to I'm going to watch this H it's coming out December 20th I think confirmed at this point I mean production values are High I mean it's still looks like Henry caval cosplaying as The Witcher no but he's his he's this one's got him talking a bit in it and I'm like well he kind of sounds like geralt and he's well he is using his real accent I guess yeah and he's doing a bit of a a bit of a gra voice and I mean this looks pretty good I'm going to watch it it looks it looks more fantasy than Game of Thrones yeah actually looks like they're not afraid to go into the

fasy tropes that that leads us to a segue there something that happened this week do sort of yeah because there uh potentially potentially not the two gentlemen behind Game of Thrones Weis Ben benof Ben off uh they did a panel the other week at uh I think the Austin Film Festival yeah was their first public appearance weird yeah man first public appearance since since everyone got mad at them about season 8 and canceled all their appearances they was supposed to be at Comic-Con and they canceled that and then they kind of disappeared for a while and then they did this panel at Austin and they kind of just talked about how they didn't know what the [ __ ] they were doing yeah and it was really odd the they they mentioned that they had a really good

pitch for the season would start yeah but that they really didn't know where they were going to take it what to do with it they even admitted they didn't really understand the books and hadn't even read everything that was available to read up until that point anyway um and then we're just making it up as it went along HBO made them film another 100 hours for the first season because they were like this is not a TV series I had read that before actually I had read that they' kind of every episode was coming in at about 39 minutes and they were like guys you you are was an hour each week yeah they they they said to to meet their contractual obligations they had to film another 100 hours of content and they had they in fact one of the things they mentioned

was that they'd never filled the scene with um with Robert and what's her name uh Cersei Cersei yeah and then and then it's like what do you mean yeah like they just didn't think that a husband and wife a king and a queen and two of the biggest stars I don't know just odd things like that necessary to have them share the screen at any point and then yeah every scene in other words every scene with the two of them in it in the first season spoilers you won't see any with the two of them in it past the first season um will will have uh is something they reshot yeah because didn't think to put it in there and then I don't know it was just a weird panel like yeah and apparently everyone in the room thought it was weird too like why are they telling us this like this just not make

them look good yeah so so just to back up uh Game of Thrones got arguably steadily worse as the seasons went on uh and season 8 was hated by just about everyone yes uh then they go and have this panel where they basically say they didn't know what they were doing and that um you shouldn't have been surprised that season 8 was so bad because weren't the seasons before that bad also which was a weird thing to say the implication was that that cuz they they basically said I don't know if they realized they were saying this but they basically said at the beginning we didn't know what we were doing so we let all the professionals do stuff and as time went on we figured this is popular that's got to be our fault and they just

started taking over everything and [ __ ] familiar Geor Lucas effect and then but like I don't know if that's what the the message they were intending to to put across but that's certainly what everyone's taken away from this is that the reason it got [ __ ] is because of you guys and at the beginning the reason it was good is because you didn't know what you were doing you just stayed back out of the way and just let people do their thing how how do people who don't know what they're doing get a gig like that in the first place this white proof mate is the reason they got this it's the uh the nepotism of Hollywood yeah did they come in with a lot of money to back themselves or anything or they somehow convinced George RR Martin to give him the rights

I think and it was basically HBO sold it overseas and were like well let's just [ __ ] do it and see what happens I that that's that's seemed to be what they were saying was that that even though it was a disaster at the beginning HBO were like well we've already sold the rights overseas so it's fine and then they just got lucky I guess so seemingly as a result of the abortion which is this uh panel last week um this week uh it has been announced that Ben off and Weiss have decided to pull out of their Star Wars Trilogy that they were producing and writing for Disney and the reason they cited was that um Netflix have also offered them

um a series uh that they can develop themselves and they've decided to choose that over Star Wars I think I know why they might have done that go on okay Star Wars M like they've just come out of SE season 8 which everyone hates and they got crucified for right y Star Wars no matter what they do they are going to be they're going to be hated online for whatever they do with the story I don't think they want to go through that again they can't win they can't win go the safe new thing that you're creating on Netflix that doesn't have to stand up against anything yeah I also feel like probably this was well not necessarily but I think certainly uh Kathleen Kennedy and the the heads at lucasfilm aren't upset about this

because they don't they don't need this [ __ ] they've had enough well yes and in fact in the face with Star Wars at this point yeah and I think I think you're probably right Luke I think a lot of that sounds plausible but there's also there's also another Fringe Theory out there that actually these guys were fired by Kathleen Kennedy the moment the final episode of Game of Thrones aired and it was so bad and the moment that they started getting criticized online that she just decided I don't need this and uh if if the fans have lost their you know she she obviously thought she was hiring two people that were fan favorites yeah and then when she well cuz you know the court of public opinion is is you know when it turns on you it

[ __ ] turns on you these days so so evidently this there's also a rumor that they were fired directly after that but it was hushed up and then she basically said when you get a new deal somewhere else you can announce that you're leaving here and that it was only that the panel was so widely publicized last week that everyone went okay let's just let's just all just out this right now huh I don't know why they did that panel so such a weird thing to do well it makes sense if you know that Disney already sacked them that they're pissed off and you know that they maybe don't know where their next job's going to come from but I mean yeah but did they not realize like let's do a panel where we just kind of confirm yeah we didn't know what we were doing like

yeah just seems like a weird thing to do unless they're just getting it off the chest us if the three of us wrote a [ __ ] TV show and it became the number one TV show in the world I think every panel we did would be us going we didn't [ __ ] know how we did this I've I've already come up with the idea for our TV show go on D was and battar Galactica merge together done pretty sure Battlestar Galactica was uh it's literally just Star Wars but hold back I'm not yeah yeah yeah but now let's just turn to Star Wars you got a Starship you got an X Squadron and it's called Rogue Squadron to Rog one two starring [ __ ] D I'm also very surprised that they have never done Raiders of the Lost Arc in space

you're going to say Raiders of Lost Arc to Raiders of the Lost arcs yeah like a like a alien archaeologist yeah exactly B basically it's the exact plot from Raiders except that it's in a Star Wars type Universe y yeah and you know there's like an emperor character who has you know he's going to get this thing first and it's going to destroy some stuff and so this like an alien super weapon yeah exactly the fifth element's sort of of element I don't want to hear about the Fifth Element I must be the only person on this [ __ ] planet who doesn't like that movie and I don't like it a lot really I love that movie I know everyone

does I'm I'm the one who's missing out because every time I've gone like go back give it a chance everyone whose opinions you respect [ __ ] loves this you've obviously missed out on something I'll watch it and I'm like what the [ __ ] it's fun it's [ __ ] garbage it's fun that's the only way I can describe that movie it's just a fun movie why do you hate Gary Man Dan why do you hate Gary Oldman what did he do to you look I don't know if um if this Benny off and Weiss being outed is the Catalyst for Ryan Johnson's confidence returning but a couple of weeks ago we we reported that Ryan had come out and said oh you know I don't think I they're going to do my trilogy but if they did I'd still be

up for it um he has he has gone completely 180 on that and he has come out and going no no no no I'm still working on it and it's still official and uh yeah I didn't mean to say if I meant to say when is it still official just because Dy have not mentioned it in a while yeah they've never officially fired him because they never officially hired him cuz yeah I've has Dy ever spoken about his movies I think it's only been him I think I think they might have confirmed it like before last should but I think that's it can I just ask though why does everything have to be a [ __ ] Trilogy like can you just make one movie it's got to be like oh Ryan Johnson's Trilogy Benny offen Weiss's Trilogy like just give

film and see what happens I think yes they I think they're waiting for Rise of Skywalker to S to to announce anything yeah like I mean they've got the mandalorian's going to come out that's going to teach them whether or not people will watch a series they got one more movie to come out to see whether people will watch a movie they probably will and and then this is either going to be like when The Avengers [ __ ] ended you know uh yeah and you just sort of feel yeah you're not really looking for the next thing anymore I'm done I walk away from that and I I kind of feel that I could probably walk away from Star Wars after episode 9 but this didn't have to be a Trilogy they could have just made episode seven which was pretty good and just man like

there you go there's your Nostalgia picture it's a 40 it's a 40y old film people like for some reason yeah what what is the whole needs to be a Trilogy like even The Hobbit they made three MOV [ __ ] it's a 90 page Nolla they turned into a three two and a half hour movies all [ __ ] yeah I money they want money well they got some yeah but you can still make three movies did they make money off the last Hobbit movie I I I I can't imagine they did yeah I don't know oh they would yeah that was that was filmed them all at the same time the last one was the worst we are the target audience for that and I tuned out after the second one and they're lucky I even went to that after that [ __ ] abysmal effort they put into the first one no

the third one was so awful well I only watched part of the third one because I went back and watched a fan re-edit the entire Trilogy down to the 2-hour movie it should have been and even that it was [ __ ] I still think they did it back to front you think they would have done the Hobbit as like a test movie to see Gage and then going into yeah except the problem trilogy The Hobbit is not as interesting as Lord of the Rings like when you're a kid got three movies when you're a kid and you read The Hobbit it's the greatest thing ever until you're a teenager and you read Lord of the Rings and you're like [ __ ] The Hobbit [ __ ] The Hobbit in the ass yeah The Hobbit is really just like high Jinx High Jinx High Jinx High Jinx

the article from the other week Skywalk quietly buy a lot of tickets with the launch of pre-sales just four hours ago Star Wars rise of Skywalker is already breaking records this was last week and then now they're saying uh Guy Walker tracks for a quieter opening so maybe people just went crazy coming in behind Avengers endgame this all previous one say almost doubles endgame and this one says came in just behind endgame so maybe they in that 4 hours they were doubling and it record first four hours and then it slowed down yeah fair enough but but yeah I don't we're just not having a good time sort of reporting on ticket sales lately he's saying you want to you maybe want to back that off a bit yeah yeah cuz that's we I I screwed up the Joker

and now we've got the Star Wars yeah we're just not good with yeah figures yeah fair enough fair enough and we know people come here to get their news and they want us to be accurate yeah that's true can we I know we talked about this on messenger but this Mandalorian trailer everyone's excited about oh I wouldn't say everyone Matt yeah I'm pretty underwhelmed by it everyone else is going a [ __ ] Mandalorian trailer is looking [ __ ] great I the the teaser that came out a few months ago gave just enough away to be enticing this one I don't know man I think they showed a little too much I I feel like I should watch this trailer again now I'm thinking about it there I was it immediately put me off because of one thing that I know I've

already brought up with you but MH no I think we all saw it I think we all had the same feeling one of the one of the very first things in this trailer is a bunch of [ __ ] carbonite Frozen people yep and bounty hunters well because and as we in the Empire always bounty hunters always capture people in carbonite or do they no they [ __ ] don't no in fact it was argued when someone suggested that in [ __ ] Empire Strikes Back that that probably wouldn't work and that and that's why they tested it on Dar Vader wanted to freeze Luke Skywalker and and they said you'll kill him and he said well then I'll test it on Han Solo and see if it works and then and the only reason he wanted to do that instead of something else was that he

happened to be on besin at the time that had one freezing now hear me out so cuz this is set after the the original trilogy is it do we know that I'm pretty sure it is I could be wrong but what I think it it can be is it's not said after the original if it's got Boba fed in it well it doesn't well we don't know that everyone's [ __ ] saying it will but so solo had [ __ ] Darth Maul in it yeah okay Han Solo was hanging up in jab Hut's Palace for quite a while and it might have become a thing with gangsters out there that they wanted to hang up the people who have sort of crossed them and stuff and it might have become the trend so they bought a bunch of [ __ ] gas mining equipment in order

to do it yes all right all right it is I mean but but you're focusing on one part let's just wait and see I know I know but I couldn't get past it that's what I'm saying it was the first thing in the trailer and then I was just I wasn't even I barely even took in the rest of the trailer cuz I was just in my mind just going back through it like is there any any evidence to suggest that this is a thing people do and I'm like no it's not well the exact same thing as in the prequel trilogy when suddenly the [ __ ] helmet with the blast Shield that Han just happened to have in his ship when when Obi-Wan kenob wanted to do some training with Luke and thought Oh this would be a good idea just whack this on and put the

blast shield down suddenly 40 years in the past was actually just something that all little kids who train with lightsabers have to wear they had Han Solo's helmet and yeah yeah I mean they should add a line they should they should add a line back in now in A New Hope where he looks around and goes oh you've actually got a [ __ ] lightsaber [ __ ] hel training thing here on the millenum Falcon that's great luck that and the fact that that [ __ ] Obi-Wan Kenobi Ben Kenobi living in the Desert War robes cuz he lived in the desert no no all the Jedi War robes that's right they dress like him yeah no yeah yeah anyway but just got to don't get bogged down in the details that's what ruins entertain for

people I thought we were Star Wars fans my mistake what I a fan I'm not a fanatic I just like to enjoy things and I want others to enjoy it with mehhh can I um can I talk about something that I enjoyed this week go on M um so I don't know what happened the first time around when I watched the first episode uh but I went back and checked out mind Hunter for uh for a second viewing uh it's [ __ ] excellent and man man I I started it on Thursday um at season 1 episode one and I'm now halfway through the second season and it's [ __ ] fantastic I love it I'm G to be legitimately sad in like two days when I have no more to watch yeah no it's a [ __ ] great

show really good yeah it really is I watch I watch anything Fincher makes really yeah and I I don't know why I but I I do think that the first episode doesn't give I mean it sets the tone I guess but I find nothing really compelling started to happen until yeah maybe the third episode in so if you didn't just he's the hostage negotiation thing right with what's his name and all that it's been a while since I watched the first episode but I it was it was different because it wasn't yeah the first like the little teaser at the start of the episode where he's trying to talk a guy down that that was a great scene but then I felt it took a big step back in terms of I don't know excitement I guess and I kind of thought oh okay it's it's not really going to be that but it

does get back to that it just it just kind of it ramps up yeah Luke probably wouldn't like it don't know man I don't know who knows what I like anymore yeah yeah who knows I mean I'm not sure any of them method actors but uh I would say probably not they're all pretty much just do and the David Fincher stand and speak quietly to each other yeah the camera will move when you move yeah that's right yeah and from a certain point onwards in his career Fincher decided that just everything was going to be that kind of greeny yellow color that's that's what the so this is that too yeah that's what it looks like to fin I think at one stage he got some tinted glasses and he was like yeah this that's nice

yeah yep mine had to good [ __ ] good [ __ ] did someone else watch in The Tall Grass yeah I watched it did you watch it yeah actually just last night we watched it ah what did you think what's what's in the T gr uh Stephen King adaptation on Netflix it was it was all right yeah yeah actually quite liked it I I'll be honest I didn't go in with a lot of expectations because look I'm a real big fan of some of Stephen King stuff and I'm not at all a fan of other Stephen King stuff and that goes double for adaptations of his work you know so I was not sure but I thought this was pretty good pretty good yeah I liked it it was uh slow and I feel like I know it Stephen King is is tough

cuz I actually watched two other Stephen King films this week I just remembered um oh which ones uh I watched it chapter 2 well actually watched chapter one and chapter 2 again oh I haven't seen that yet and uh and I watched the pet cemetery remake um um oh yeah I've seen I've seen the Remake I've seen that yeah H I feel like with with pet cemetery in particular I really loved the book pet cemetery and I feel like you can't film what I liked about it like yeah yeah does that S I think that's I think that's why no one has ever attempted or very few people have attempted to film any HP Lovecraft because what you love what's good about those books is not something can show on screen yeah like even so take the pet cemetery remake uh

there a couple I liked it it was fine but it was more of a remake of the original film movie and then but then they just did a few little switcher R to to trick you like basically was like we know you've seen the other film so we're going to get you by by like doing a few little switcheroos and then well I felt the carry remake was exactly that as well yeah yeah so I don't know it was it was good it just was not just read the book because like even even you know they go to the pet Symmetry and then there's the the barrier at the back where you and the big like yeah I don't even know how to express it like you got the barrier is not just a pile of sticks that he has to climb over there's more to it than that

but you can't film it like mhm it's it's yeah it's hard to explain just read the book I'm like that with the Mist you know the Mist yeah yeah yeah I love that movie I the the original movie right uh have you seen the Netflix one I'm thinking of the Thomas Jane one yeah Thomas Jane I see I didn't love that one because I I felt exactly what you've just described about in The Tall Grass it's like the in the book The my was just so [ __ ] mysterious like and I didn't see what was i w I didn't see what was in there so it could be really scary where as soon as I see a CGI tentacle I'm no longer scared yeah yeah I guess you're right I think maybe it's just because I was willing to switch off and just watch that for what it was uh well they're

just different I guess maybe like the the movies can't be the same as the books because you can't capture that internal stuff on a on film like the the stuff that makes it more existential you can't film CU it's it's internal and you'll never be able to get that that's why it's hard when you do try and convert a book to move because you've gotten your head yeah what it is and then when they film it you go that's not what I what I see and then a lot of it is what the characters are thinking and feeling and you can't unless they're going to say it on the screen it's yeah cuz even I found that when I played through the force awakens I then read the book to the force awakens and that actually the the force on yeah and yeah when you're going through

what's thinking anding it actually changes the story you get to experience it about more MH mhm that's but that's why Stephen King the best movie adaptations are the ones that have no Supernatural elements I think um from my point of view the sh Shank Redemption is the the only stepen King adaptation that's just absolutely solid this is a great movie nothing one that I really like was the stand yeah the stand yeah it's I mean yeah there's another one of that coming out there is yeah really yeah you know which actually you know which movie I quite liked was the langers oh yeah geez wa it for the CGI creatures at the end of yeah but that's the thing yeah yeah yeah but that's okay so was a two-parter or at least when it was on Aussie TV it was in two parts the

first part [ __ ] great people on a plane everyone when they land everyone else is gone from the earth great episode 2 CGI monsters oh the it chapter 2 was good uh I liked it and it I it's been a while since I read the book I feel like they did make some changes they actually make jokes about how they don't like the endings like the [ __ ] what's his name's character the guy from X-Men Xavier his character is an author from der and uh they jokes about how he writes Bad Endings and then I mean it's not a spoiler I guess but Stephen King is literally in this film telling him that he doesn't like the ending of his book no way no way yeah that's a nice little Cho that's so

good because it's very true I remember what's the um rise of the Dragon heart of the dragon eye of the Dragon I have the dragon help me out Matt I have the dragon Steve steam king no it's like a I don't know sword and sorcery one it was the first or maybe the second uh cuz I think running man I read first but the first Stephen King book I read and I was like loving it so much and they got to the end and I was like what the [ __ ] what are you doing you just forget how to be an author well he he does his uh his if you've read on writing his book about writing he Wings it like he just no he just sits down and writes from the yeah but he Wings the beginning and the midd really really well no that's what I'm saying though there's something about

him like he's almost correct like he cuz he says that the story is already there and he's just a sculptor discovering the statue in the marble that the statue's there the whole time Coke yeah yeah CU he does he ties threads together and also it makes me wonder like is he full of [ __ ] does he does he do any outlining he says he doesn't but then he also calls back things you know really well a lot of times and it's like yeah like did he plan that or was he just just as he said just [ __ ] He's typing in the stories coming from somewhere else my absolute favorite thing that Stephen King does is the story that he sets up and then doesn't tell is always what I want to know more about sure you you remember dream catcher yeah okay so a group of kids or a group of young men

had they catch up in this one place at the same time every year and commemorate something traumatic that happened to them when they were children and it's so interesting and you're like I can't wait to find out what this is well guess what you're not going to find out cuz you know what aliens come and that's the story now yeah it's like what resolve this [ __ ] please well that I remember and also pet cemeter there's that backstory about her sister and stuff like that like all that kind of stuff that he puts in that's like yeah uh you know like her sister had the I don't know whatever the diseas is and it's like [ __ ] that's so terrifying but also like I don't know there's call backs to it and stuff like that like do you really didn't plan that

like you just made that up as you went along yeah but he probably CU it's not just he would go back and fill stuff in so he' write it split it all out and then he goes back and he do it again it's not like he does it in one go yeah or he might say he does but he doesn't he does say that he does yeah there's no way you can write all of that and then not go over it again and go change stuff I did hear just no sorry L I was just say or is it the editor goes in and does the cleaning up yeah or suggests he goes back yeah I've put some Aster is where I think you need to [ __ ] make some more story but uh I read this uh not read I listened to this interview with um Jeff Goldsmith um on the Q&A podcast back when that used to be a thing and he was

interviewing the guy who wrote um Silicon Valley the the sitcom about the software developers oh yeah yes yes yes where they jerk everyone off yeah that is so good that is so good could you jerk off everyone in this room cuz I could and I can prove it so good but uh but Jeff asked him him like you [ __ ] set things up in the first season that I thought were throwaway lines that then paid off in like the fourth and fifth season how do you do it and his answer was so disappointingly simple which he's like well they're not setups they are just throwaway lines and then when I'm writing the fourth season I go back and rewatch the first season and I think of some things that I could steal from

there that that we could then bring back in and it's like oh yeah I guess I guess that is how you do that but of course you want to think that everything was planned all along but it probably wasn't I I I get that but also that's what JJ Abrams does and people believe T Lessa success sometimes you know with like lost like that's how lost worked there was just a lot of it the the the creator of Babylon 5 he actually knew what he was doing throughout the entire thing so no no I'm seriously he wouldn't let people add lib because stuff he set up in season one I think in season 2 or three oh like they went back to be very they had to go back and yeah cuz it was like stuff that in season one like you have no idea what this means but it becomes clearer in season 3 yeah right

when they go time traveling who no 's I love Bon 5 who's the director that gets shitty about that like just read the [ __ ] words as they're written I can't I mean I feel like maybe I was thinking maybe maybe kubri used to do that no kubri used to get the shits about people [ __ ] with the lenses and stuff I know that I think Lucas is also one of uh this is the script yeah just read the words as they're written yeah yeah faster more intense yeah no you don't get to yeah you don't get to do yeah change it up this is what I wrote this is what you read done yeah I think there's a few people out there not me I'll never always change it up somehow yeah you'll go 180 on the on the [ __ ] script just stop

Genesis yes yeah not hard there one thing I was just going to say but there's one thing what about Terminator alation I one where yes there's one thing I didn't quite like about it is there's stuff in there that I wish I had have explained more okay there's just things that are a bit throw away which I I found a little annoying but and also some jokes which they just don't put jokes in Terminator movie people or a little spin on a little spin on something and I'm s it doesn't need to be there look I'll be honest like my my favorite of the [ __ ] Terminator movies is Genesis no [ __ ] not genes is salvation genis is [ __ ] garbage um because I think that actually brought all right yeah it's all right yeah okay it's all right I mean none of

them are as bad as [ __ ] Terminator 3 which should never have existed rise of the Machines there is a there's an edit of Terminator 3 that's better oh really uh yeah because it doesn't have CLA Dan's in it no she's in it but it's there's no women in [Laughter] it uh it just yeah replaces them all with CGI Anie um I would watch he just plays every character every character is just an Sports Niger um no uh it's I can't remember what they named it but it's some fan edit that that's better of Terminator interes but look I will tell you right now you have paid to go see moves that are a lot worse than this you should go and see it convincing argument I adore Luke's [ __ ] quotes for movie posters here you've seen a lot of that are a lot worse than

this you might as well go and see this one wonderful yeah it's sort of like a mhup of one and two okay I mean look if that's what it is if you're correct about this then that sounds absolutely fine to me mhm go see it let me know in two weeks what you think all right got Linda Hamilton in it how bad can it be yeah yeah I mean y yep she was certainly a very very good part of the second movie yeah and the first one I do like it well I mean she was just a screaming woman in the first one she didn't really have much of a character to play she she developed at the end she killed the terator she did and and then of course the second movie was all about her spoilers again um no no all good all good uh I'm excited that she's you know

returned mhm mhm if if that's NE acting in general yeah well now now Arie is not in this right he is he is of course he is he not make it a Terminator movie man I I heard this touted is the first one he hasn't come back for now he's in it really no no definitely okay right yeah okay there you go he's in the trailer so like full on in it yeah okay I I'll be honest I think that I I don't I don't even know if I've watched the trailer I just don't I'm just not excited for another [ __ ] Terminator move movie directed by Tim Miller who did Deadpool Yeah Tim Miller's great it's this is so weird because yeah it is it's it just ignores everything all the movies that came after two yeah it's a sequel to two it's a sequel to two Okay yeah but yeah hold

on but Genesis was supposed to only be a sequel to two as well it's um the idea I guess is uh there are alternate timelines this is a sequel to two that happens in this timeline and then they're just gonna keep making movies of a sequel to the good ones until we get it right did you like which one do you like okay this one's a sequel to that one and eventually there'll just be a series of movies that people like yeah yeah bring back Michael Bean that's all I'm going to say about it I know I think something they should maybe try and do for a terminat movie is actually just have it in the future yeah I'm surprised they haven't done that yet and story about how no no no but Salvation was like still yeah I guess so

but Salvation still assumed there's already been time travel happening oh yeah I'm surprised movie leading up to how they get the time travel ability almost like a prequel but in said in the future yeah cuz I think that could be interesting like about how the humans find out about years ago would have been interesting now I don't know SP Michael bean I I uh I listened to the I've almost finished I'm I'm having trouble getting through it the audible Alien 3 William Gibson alien 3 oh sure recording which is it oh you're having trouble getting through it are you it's it's a performance it's not just a like a reading of a book or anything and it's yeah I know I thought that would make it better no I don't

know it's got easier to get through Lance Hendrickson's good in it Michael Bean not I don't know he just just phoned it in I don't know he phoned it in I think he maybe he's he wasn't ever a bad actor but he wasn't like I don't know he's not he's no Luke Alison you know MH yeah but maybe you just didn't want to do it I guess I guess and voice acting is different which is what this is voice acting you've got to like so the way that this is done cuz it's voice only they kind of have to describe what they're doing and then I don't know I just so it's like a radio play yeah it literally is a radio play yes and and I I've just found it to be a little bit like I don't know maybe it's just the format that I don't like and Lance

HRI gets a pass just because but it's just yeah because because it's Lance Hendrickson just just his I was actually looking forward to it CU I was actually going to hey look maybe may like it maybe you'll like it use some of those credits before they expire yeah how many credit credit do I have now let me just check I feel like I know we talked about this but I feel like there was a class action lawsuit about this too the audible credits specifically huh the fact that they expire but people don't know that they expire as evidenced by the fact that Luke didn't know that he expire yeah it's not really clear and it doesn't really make sense why they would expire well because you're not you're I mean yeah I guess not well it's part of

Diablo 4 so all's forgiven and Carry On never mind for forget all about it I must say and I'll say again from what I said about Diablo 3 when it came out too uh eventually um this looks really pretty and it looks just like Diablo I except shinier and Diablo I was a game I liked very very much when there weren't many games to playh he just on stuff I don't know if I want to just [ __ ] give my mouse and forefinger the work out that uh that Diablo requires yeah in the year 2019 you know but yeah it is very much hey we've announced this and everyone's sort of not as vocal anymore that Blizzard's evil yep yeah because they've got this game about demons yep the internet why while the internet remembers everything it also

forgets very quickly does yeah it sure does that's why like uh I feel like the worst thing people can do when they get you know caught up in like an internet shaming [ __ ] thing is the worst thing you can do is just engage with it the best thing you can do is what just wait it out like projared did recently when when all that stuff with him happened with his his wife saying that he was cheating on her and everyone blew up and he was sending nudes of himself to fans all that kind of stuff he just went away for six months and came back and now everything's fine again yeah yeah and and on a huge kind of scale that's basically what Louis CK did as well he was like what people are still mad yeah they are but he just shut up didn't

engage and now he's just kind of slowly creeping back yeah he's just announced a tour yeah just go away for a bit James gun went off social media he's back now yeah that's it yeah he's back and he got the very job he got fired from plus a bonus job yeah plus an extra brother one yeah y just just an extra paycheck blizzard just kind of ignoring everything I guess oh they they did a half-hearted apology that's to be fair they did say uh sorry you didn't like the way we handled it but they did so the one of the good things is they didn't actually give the guy his winnings and stuff like that yeah yeah but their apology was we're sorry we didn't communicate our uh opinion on the Hong Kong thing clearly enough with our fans so what they're saying is we're not
