get on the bed I feel like I'm walking on something here Lola I'm I'm panicking a little bit why what have you done so you know I've got my new rules for drinking yeah well I realized today that I drank all my gin last night so I had to go to the bottle shop to get some before we record now so Luke let let me just let me just wind this back it's not rules that you have to drink in those situations those situations it's not that oh [ __ ] the is coming up I need to drink got to find something in this house that's alcohol does Dro have alcohol in it welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple

nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy I only had enough for one drink I get to the shop and I go to buy my normal and I see the thing product recall on it oh for the Gin for the Gin I've been drinking it's the cheapest gin in the world it's like 33 bucks what why was it recall does it say uh some contamination or something and I starting Panic a little bit because isn't Jin sterile drop into it be yeah cont anyway I'm still finishing off the last bit of it cuz I fig already dropped most of the bottle what novelty tumbler are you drinking out of uh this is just uh it's

a oh yeah okay oh oh he won't be there for long because he's I put I don't remember him wearing blue either but whatever it's meant to be him on um tattooing deerar oh I I walked I'm weird why is this oh okay so that was it followup did you go back to the gym two weeks in a row or was that just a oneoff good question it was I was meant to go today I know but I didn't ask if you were meant to go I asked if you went I did go out today it's hard to tell whether there is his pajamas or not Matt Hannah was also going to go out to see a friend's new place and I i w be back in time for the podcast and podcast comes first so I had to skip the gym I didn't okay again you haven't answered

my I mean you have you've indirectly answered so I guess you didn't but her going to some girl's place doesn't affect you going to the gym does it or does it well because we would have gone together I see right you're well I had to join the gym this week because Matt you've been working out you look like you're 25 years old again I don't know what's going on there Luke you gone to the gym or went to the gym once I didn't want to get left behind so I've joined a gym now too so I am a gym goer no no no wait there's a difference between joining a gym and being a gym goer well we had to go I gone four times this week four times okay I was going to go every day and then by Thursday I was like I can't go again this is [ __ ] this is way too intense they're going to

be like you again yes then I took I took Thursday off and then I went Friday so I I'll work it out it'll even itself outz honestly the gyms they don't want to see you again they want you to sign up go once or twice never go back and just pay that monthly subscription that's what they want as little maintenance as they can pay for on those machines is ideal yeah but are you enjoying it I I'm enjoying yeah I mean I'm I don't enjoy going to the gym and you know it takes my day as a round trip see here's the thing right so the first time I ever went to the gym when I was like in my mid 20s I was a skinny mini and so the results any results that I had were visible immediately right now if there's results happening I can't see them yet so I just have to trust to the process

yeah that's right for me it's the boss that ohuma forming underneath the fat yeah and to be clear I've only been four times so I'm not I'm not expecting any results say there are listeners going guys yeah that's not how the gym works yeah yeah you guys want to see my abs they're in here somewhere yeah somewhere down there remember we were about to show off our ABS a while ago I remember I remember time don't we I think we say Dan and I both said we were going to look like Harrison Ford in Temple of Doom at some point was I'm sure listeners will remind us now that we've men I don't even look like Harrison Ford in kinging of the Crystal Skull at this point so played run 2049 yeah he's still F than now than we are

or I am yeah oh no then me too I'm not going to I'm not going to pretend I just I don't want to speak for you guys I just it be mean for me to talk about fair fair yeah although it's true Harrison F's very fit yeah yeah maybe we set the bar too high we know we we didn't pick him now either we picked him back in the [ __ ] 80s I know we picked him yeah no no but here's the thing Temple of Doom how old was he in that movie I have a feeling he was of contable age to us now yeah so it's not like we picked him when he was 20 resources we'll never have yeah yeah he this is what you eat this is when you work out and that was all provided for him instead of us trying to do that around life yeah well I watched um I watched Casino Royale last week I just

po that on if I've if I don't know what to watch I pop on Casino Royale it's it's such a good movie agreed but [ __ ] Daniel Craig is in incredible shape in that movie like not just good like in incredible shape but don't Google how he does it you don't want to know oh he essentially does like 6 hours a day at the gym oh right and doesn't drink any alcohol like that his that's his his secret is he doesn't drink at all so don't believe the vodka martini thing and then he's also probably got the personal chef he does that's the problem with movies is because the characters look like that and then in the film they do stuff that they definitely don't do in real life in order to look that way yeah yeah yeah yeah if you think Hank Moody looks like David doovy drinking as

much as he does you're wrong or like um you know in the in the Zack snd he's got some Zack Snyder content coming up um Aquaman aka me on the thumbnail of this podcast a few a few episodes ago uh you know he's just always drinking [ __ ] Jack Daniels skull on a ble no he doesn't look like that doing that no it's not how people when they he might look like Thor in that one Thor movie where he was really out of shape y that was a good one I enjoyed that movie I will say every time you bring up Cino Royale I keep thinking you're talking about the Peter cellers movie maybe I am Luke and maybe Peter cell is in incredible shape in that movie yeah that that I think Peter cellers is a body we could get to yeah over any man to get to his

body um I think that was all the blow wasn't it um Luke have we talked about I know we talked off air but you recommended some films to me that I've caught up on did we talk about this I don't think spoken about so Matt the episode you weren't here from Luke and I decided to essentially tribute late 70s early ' 80s slapstick comedy right oh yeah so we talked about porkys MH we talked about meatballs my and um I saw the conversation about it in the chat afterwards and so I'm pretty excited about what's coming you're the only one who was excited because the lady on the receiving end was not [ __ ] me all in the name of PG comedy Bill Murray brutally rapes

somebody for fun for the fun funsies for for she's actually screaming no and that was the joke hold her down she's screaming no no no and at one point he starts screaming louder than her just to drown out her screams yeah right just to prove to her it's p and I'll say this a different time he is very good in that movie actually and his relationship with that young boy is really warm it's it's a beautiful relationship no he's a camp counselor and he's like your party dude but there's this nerdy kid that no one wants to play with so he just decides to adopt that kid and he just makes that

kid feel special as [ __ ] you know just to be clear he doesn't rap He rapes another counselor and and porkys then I watched porkys quite a bit of rape in that one too if you want to get particular there's there's male to female there female to male rape at one stage yeah they all had it's what a bizarre time for comedy that was yes and I remember thinking them being very funny when I used to watch them as a as a kid but now I'm I just don't feel good about laughing at that stuff it's it's a bit awkward now like it's like times have changed and uh it's almost embarrassing that it was funny like yeah even the weird thing about embarrassing it is embarrassing

one is I don't think it was even funny at the time it just it doesn't even really fit in the movie at all it's just this weird meat balls is incredibly sexist like there's no there's no lens you can look at it and I don't just mean sexist like towards all women but then it's like part of the joke is ah you [ __ ] an ugly girl you know like it's just it's just it's not it's it's not funny not funny it's just cruel but let's talk about something that is good I watched the first episode of Fallout I watch it too I watched it as well it is great I'm really enjoying pretty good I've heard it's good I haven't watched it yet but I've heard it's good the opening sequence is quite good um it's it had me I put that on

yesterday morning I was just going to have it on while I worked and it was so good I turned it off because I was like no this needs watch it and I'm liking some of the humor in it cuz it's not in your face it's like just very subtle that whole thing about how everyone just knows that in the vaults they [ __ ] family members yeah it's a running gag mat okay all right and the and the cousin comes up to her and he's like I love you and she's like yes I know everybody knows but there was one thing that I'm sorry this is a little bit of a spoiler map I'm Sor it's the first episode on it's been two weeks since it came out yesterday right yeah but there was one thing I I found I thought oh this is stupid cuz there's a part where they go oh they're going to do there's a

tri-annual trade with another Vault and I'm that's ridiculous that's not a thing but then you find out that there are three vaults that are connected to each other right and so that's how that happens cuz I've got well that's stupid and then I've got no they've explained it and voltech do do some weird stuff I'm it would make sense they would have cuz you can't just walk freely through them there are no you know special special occasions but it makes sense that there would be access the thing is Luke and I don't know if you felt this but Matt after I say it you you won't be able to unfe it um you tried to unfe something um my brain thinks this happens in the

same universe as Silo oh because it's so similar shot and I mean it's it doesn't solo doesn't have retro futurism in the same way that this does but it's like this you know strong wheed woman wants to get out of her Vault see what's on the outside like you can just say if somebody said oh you got to wipe the lens when you go yeah you just take that for Grant say you want to go out she just said she wants to go out did you watch that Luke yes oh that was great yeah so good they are second season of that aren't they they are Ferguson was just shooting it while she just as she was doing press for Dune so excellent sorry just at the same time so I just doing an interview here I just just wiping the no she she did she said

U the interview I asked her about she said oh you have to she said I can't tell you anything but we've just been shooting it just just the other day and he was like oh [ __ ] yeah so that's not a very professional interviewer it was a pretty casual interview from what I recall it seems like she's the kind of interview either that it doesn't really matter she's I don't know think she about get her on then yeah she seems I don't think she wants to be asked the questions that we would ask her probably not we like do you know Rose bur a clip of roseburn uh yes I was concerned that I wouldn't like fall out but I do I I'm trying to remind myself that it's not ever going to be a one toone comparison

with the game CU it's not a game and adaptations have the right to adapt themselves to the medium that they are well and the good they can do with this is all the Fallout games are all different they're not the same it's just here's a story that happened here it's sort of like the Mad Max type of thing and so they can do that by it's still it's still in the world but the tone follows through on all of them but they're yeah they're like different and actually different sces of the tone too like some of them go more goofy than others but there's always a bit of that humor has found a way to do the tone and the humor but in TV like you have to tell a story in TV you have to have characters interacting you can't just have The Wanderer for days and days you

know just picking up [ __ ] and I think that's how they're going to do this well because it's not just going to be the story of her there's three stories they're going to be told which will end up intertwining I think and I think that's a good way to keep it freshh that you're not just going to watch one person go do this you're going to watch people who are already out there sure they're going to add more too I wouldn't be surprised uh I have a feeling dog is in this mat is he W yes he is Walt go and he very good because I like Morton goggin which one's Morton Goggins Walton Goggins it's the guy from what's the Quinton Tarantino one in the in the cabin um oh what is that called you know who

are it's the yeah yeah he I didn't I didn't know his name there you go but now I do Walton goggin yeah he's he's great odd name yeah he's a he's pretty good I'm looking forward to seeing how his character plays out yes me too me too he's excellent is this is this all out or is this coming out weekly yeah no it's all out yeah I thought it was going to come out weekly and I was looking forward to being weekly but then not it's just go watch it all looking forward to being weekly you're the only person that still does that be yeah that's I want to be I like this stuff that I know I'm going to enjoy cuz it forces me to watch and enjoy it no I got a whole list of stuff that I'm waiting Shogun I'm not going to start until it's all out for example to watch that look

more there's some stuff which I can throw on and I'm happy if I skip a few things and just tune out for for a little bit but there's others where I want to be just watch and take it all in and this is one of those ones so I've only watch watching friends MH yeah yeah yeah imagine you had to wait week to week to watched another 22 22 minutes of that they're um quite they're nice and short with no ads and yes they are they're very short and also talk about this the Phenomenon with the um the theme song did I mention this on the podcast already or to you guys no I think so we're watching friends and we get to season 3 or four and I'm like the theme song kicks in and I'm like hang on a minute what the [ __ ] is going on there it's too fast it's like

and the pitch is wrong and everything and yeah right they literally and then Jenna looked it up and yeah they did they were like we need more show but people know the theme song so they trimmed it down and they were like it's still too long we have to get a whole verse in otherwise it's not recognizable people say yeah oh so they just sped it up but even like you know when you speed something up and the pitch changes yeah goes higher yeah so it's like that I think it's season 3 or four it started and I was like whoa and it's probably not every episode it's just the episodes where they probably need that week they need a little bit seasons and then and then later on they changed it up where it's the same the pitch is fixed it's just that they've trimmed the words out

so that it's shorter kind of thing and it it just yeah but anyway it's just interesting phenomenon and apparently that's fixed in the in the if you watch the like blu-ray releases it's that's it's that's not like that because the time constraint doesn't exist the versions I've been watching are taken from the DVDs which right are you watching it on like Netflix or are you watching it from tort um it was on Netflix it's now on Max U I'm watching it on Max which is taking directly from television we put it on on Netflix when we have it on it's one of the few adult shows that my daughter for some reason will let us happily watch right I reckon you to the laugh track yeah maybe oh clowns

um but the one thing I noticed when they put it on the first season so any epode we don't watch it as frequently as do so any episodes we pop on are still in the first season yeah when we watched it on TV the first time around which I did the whole first season had a bespoke opening sequence at that Fountain because they didn't have it was shot week to we they didn't have other footage to cut into but when you watch it now it's the season two like opener because it's got shots from season one like cut in oh that's interesting you know Matthew Perry and there he is being wacky on the show whereas all the first season when you watch it on TV you I'm going to go back because I I think you're right I think the opening for for the season one that I've got it's just them in the fountain

in the open they don't have footage from the season that's how it was aired yeah exactly right exactly yeah I think I think that's exactly how it is yeah yeah it's not like they filmed 26 episodes and then we go it's we film one it goes out we film one it go it's fascinating how it works too because they just it's just yeah it's a different way I remember um we're talking about because they have a lot of obviously a lot of celebrities coming on and I I just for listeners I'd never seen this show before I've never watched it before I'm literally watching it for the first time now yeah lot of celebrity guests and some of them I'm surprised by how not good they are in that show like for examp used to doing something

differently for example Brad Pit who I think's quite good in a lot of things he's not funny episode though it's funny is but then I was like what is that about and then um Jenna said yeah that a lot of fisha Stevens um who I love right is boyfriend he apparently [ __ ] hated working on it because the way that they shoot it it's like a multi camera show and then you've got like an audience there sometimes I think I don't know if they have anding onbody else and then which [ __ ] camera am I supposed to look at he said he said it's it's actually very different to anything else actors would normally do because like a movie it's all single cam and you film you film this scene and then you'll film the scene again from a different angle and that's one whereas

this is just no everyone go it's probably probably normal now I think at the time maybe it was like no I think it's probably because they don't make they don't make TV like that anymore even if you think of a sitc now like AR rested development it doesn't have the audience it's not single Ian it's back to single cam instead of multi cam it's not in a studio I think it's probably just a flash in a pan of how they did it at that exact time it's almost like a stage show but with with with extra [ __ ] you have to worry about like as an actor yeah and also I've heard I haven't heard fish Steven say and probably not Brad Pit because he was dating someone and probably not Bruce Willis because apparently was on it cuz he lost a bet with Matthew Perry that they made when

they were on whole n yards yeah but evidently other guests and quite famous guests who have been on there have said basically that call cast stuck together like glue and you didn't get to chat with them you didn't get to eat your lunch with them you didn't get to joke around with them they were they were a unit you know who's very good in it actually is um Tom celic yeah yeah and a mustach as a as as I've gotten old you got a little yes they do uh because you know he was almost Indiana Jones um which and I was horrified that me oh that might be no I don't think he was going to be hand literally the only reason he's he wasn't Indiana Jones is because they wouldn't let him do it because he'd already sign on for Magnum

PI no your Magnum PI you cannot do it and in fact his agent said just don't show up at Magnum PI anymore and let them sue you you be Magnum PI and he said not going to do that was like fine Harrison Ford again even though I hate putting the same people [ __ ] ha movies yeah no he said he never he doesn't want to use the same people stop that ham other stuff what what yeah what are you talking about Geor what um um yeah he is good I will say this though and this is probably controversial um I don't think I've ever laughed at anything Lisa kudro has ever said or done really she is in a whole other show her acting is not the same as anyone else's she is such a Comedia

deatte character in a room of people trying to be more or less naturalistic and even Joey whose character just became a buffoon after a couple of Seasons even though he was actually quite nuanced towards the start sure he still plays it for truth she's just like how [ __ ] wacky can I be he so Matt LeBlanc I only know as the guy who was in friends who I've seen in Lost in Space and he and I just do not know him as a very good actor we all you weren't watching him when you were watching Lo space but he was there and I and Sor I was observing him from time to time when there was nothing else to listeners um Matt likes the little girl that who when he was a little boy when Matt was a little boy he liked the little girl the little girl who is the same age

as us let's very clear about that anyway back to my point was that Matt LeBlanc is very good in friends they all are very good in friends even like like I said some of them uh other people in friends not good people from friends in other things not good but the core cast of Friends in friends excellent good performances like and like Matt LeBlanc like his just even his face face Express [ __ ] cracks me up sometimes very good yeah they just got the that they got that thing nailed sorry with the casting I just want to go back to Fallout very quickly there's one thing I found very strange it's the casting of Lucy's younger brother yes it's a 30-year-old man he's not a young younger brother bizarre I'm watching that gu who could have played that

[ __ ] role you got to cast him when you see it the younger brother he's he's a man like he's he acts and he's short and he acts like a young guy but it's I mean maybe they address that at some point know not a famous guy it's not like oh we've got a shoehorn in May I don't even know who yeah maybe maybe yeah just you saying that there's nepotism in Hollywood man I I'm sorry I shouldn't I shouldn't say such things surely not look I've been watching I'm up to the part H before you go on just to friends to cap this off I'm up to the part in um Matthew Perry's book now where friend is over and he's trying to be a movie star and and all his movies are failing and then he's trying to be a screenwriter and no one will publish his movies and it just goes to show that you

can be one of the richest and most famous men in Hollywood and still not they were in the '90s and in friends yeah and then it but very few of them were able to cross over into anything else yeah you're right Matt LeBlanc did what he had a joey spinoff he had a joey Joy spinoff that went one Top Gear and Lis some movies that wer and what was the other guy what's the other guy's name um dmer yeah he's done well but he's behind the camera now well was in um he was good in um Bandit Brothers his character he was good in B Brothers kind of yes he was but yeah he do behind the camera there doesn't he he's a like director or something I

don't know producer yes he and he he's he's got a lot of Charities to do with online baiting of children and um he donates a lot of time and money to that he's against just to be clear okay could you clarify that maybe I um and he's made at least one I think more than one movies about like dangerous stuff happening to kids online oh really okay it's his thing again being against it is his thing um yeah look you I I have been doing some more exercise and a side effect of that is that when I'm on the treadmill I at first was like I'll watch some YouTube crap and then I realized why am I doing that I could get through several movies a week if I just put M format stuff and that might even entice you to run a little longer it does it does

because in particular one movie I'm going to mention um you might know you probably know which one one it's going to be was I just didn't want to get off the [ __ ] treadmill because I don't I I don't want to stop this I need to know watch sario on a treadmill yes amazing yeah yeah yeah well we'll start there because I don't want want to put on Fallout while I was drawing like sario [ __ ] sario who is the sario what a [ __ ] movie I told you man can't believe I hadn't seen it before and and I mean I don't regret it because I got to experience it and I loved it but like far at man he is so it's Den Vu listeners don't know it's a movie that he did in what 2015 or something like that I guess before June and everything

um maybe after arrival but it's very different from it's not sci-fi at all so don't be confused um it's still shot like a Sci-Fi though in a way that shot where the dudes come in in silhouette the [ __ ] machine guns but [ __ ] an hell he is on another level man like the way I I don't I yeah I don't even know and but Roger Deacon was the cinematographer on sakario which when I noted when I saw that I was like okay that explains why it's gorgeous like all just [ __ ] so it's about like um cartels and stuff which at first I was like I don't know if I care about that but it's it's actually not really about that it's more about what American government has to do to try and combat them and it's like got to Fight Fire with Fire yeah and just it's like this

mystery that like you you Emily Blunt plays this FBI agent from Arizona and she kind of just kind of gets dragged into this thing and no one's telling her what's going on and they're like yeah yeah yeah just soak it up and you'll figure it out this kind of thing and so you get to learn and and basically the mystery is revealed to you as it is revealed to her and it's just like okay it's [ __ ] excellent like and the tone of it is like it's tense it's tense like prisoners so tense like prisoners the film he did the one with although I would say that one is that was way intense this is but that's like make you feel like [ __ ] tense like yeah well this was a bit because at the end of this I was like am I am I okay with so was she

this that's the thing yeah yeah yeah yeah it's really good yeah and uh what's his name uh from Goonies uh Josh broland Josh broland he's like [ __ ] suck it up it's just the way it is and she's like why don't I think I'm okay with great scene where he's like she's like oh you know you can't we can't do it this way and he said look unless you can convince the 20s something per of American citizens who want to snort or smoke this [ __ ] every day to change to stop this is how we have to maintain order it's just like [ __ ] man like and because apparently it's based on some true stories of yeah right just yeah St it's it's story but you're right I mean the like who gives a [ __ ] about

that like I I I think I didn't watch it for a while either until somebody on YouTube was like why sakario is a sleeper Masterpiece I said fine I'll check it out and I watched the video about the border crossing scene they're coming back you know the bit I mean and uh and I and I was like oo okay yeah that looks good yeah uh yeah so good and but you think oh look I've seen breaking bad I've watched Naros what more could I possibly get out of this that's why that's I think the that my dis my like I just can't get into that stuff but this this is not about that I think it's because it's more just these characters and the Mystery of it this is more of like almost a detective story set in that world than it is yeah about the the stuff but yeah

loved it Denise is just very good at making stuff which is why he gets to make Dune 3 now yeah and the thing about about him is that he he is like Nolan and and like historically probably uh Steven Spielberg or Stanley cubrick in that they make movies that satisfy both critics and audiences like yeah they make a lot of money do not say no one satisfies me and the thing with with the thing with the his sakario the and arrival and and all of them I think too is that they not they don't um I saw a thing about how he he trusts the audience and and then the thing I found with sakario is that like it made me feel smart because I didn't

have to be told like a baby that this is what's going on like I could just watch the movie and just watch them it's like visual storytelling I can watch what's happening and then I go oh okay that's are from the [ __ ] CIA or whatever like I think you should be confused in a movie until until it the penny that's what this felt like it's like I was like what's going on what's going on and then I and it felt like I'd figured it out even though he just yeah told me but he like that with a TV show too if I'm watching a TV show and I'm not confused in the first episode I won't watch anymore because if I know what's going on it's like I okay I see what you're doing like there's no point but if I'm confused the the one that really stuck out for me was The Sopranos

and again this is maybe one that you like Mobsters I've seen scar what do I care right but this wasn't about it was about a gangster but it was about a gangster who was going to psychotherapy because he was having panic attacks and couldn't tell the rest of the mob or his family that he was doing that right and then like that was so so interesting but the thing about it that I realized that up until that point no other show had done in the dialogue was that people never say what they mean they always say the opposite and that was the first show where they did that how are you I'm fine he's not fine we know he's not fine that guy might be able to tell from the body languages he's not fine but he's not going to say anything so everyone's just pretending he's fine when he's not any

other show would have been like oh I'm actually a bit depressed at the moment and I'm depressed for these reasons and I'm and it just didn't do that you had to know you had to just know cuz you watched it yeah yeah is a good one who's the sakario it doesn't tell you but you'll know yeah at some point I thought it was might have been Meck it doesn't have to tell you you'll know by the end of it or you won't and that doesn't matter too yeah that's fine as well that's not the point of it you might forget that that's what this I forgotten until about halfway through I was like hang on a minute it's supposed to be a Hitman in this movie yeah yeah um yeah [ __ ] brilliant I watched something else hear Bonito say the word sario yeah yeah he's

great great they're all great that's I mean the cast init too like Emily Blunt Josh broland um [ __ ] tons of people popping in I was like oh what that guy John beral The Punisher he's in it oh yeah yeah he's a solid supporting actor yeah I saw him they go to a bar and he's there and I was like oh although it's a problem slightly because I'm like oh he's goingon to have a bigger role he's not just some guy at a bar yeah it's like when you watch seven now and then towards the start you see Kevin spy and you're like well I guess it's him then yeah oh Oh you mean the the killer in the film yeah yeah the killer yeah yeah I interested in this did someone watch Rebel Moon Yeah I watched Rebel Moon as well I popped I was like yeah yeah yeah yeah most of this stuff I

watched on the treadmill all the mission Impossibles the the the other stuff yeah mhm yeah Rebel Moon um you've seen this right no Luke you have seen it right I haven't I haven't seen it spoilers are fine there's a lot of the story that is not in the movie and it makes no sense it's so so you wanted more of it you think that the problem was it was too short I I I popped it on and I was really enjoying it at first it was and I was like no this maybe maybe this is one of those ones where I'm just going to like it for some reason no one else does I don't don't know why cuz I was like this is quite good like it's not I didn't understand like visually it's very weird I don't it did really didn't appeal to me visually his stuff doesn't

anymore like it did in the beginning and then I don't know something happened where I just don't like for a bit for me it's just like even there's things like there's you know she's farming on this planet and there's like you can see another planet with rings in the background and and it's like it is visually beautiful but just I don't know something about the way he does it it's just really not pleasing to my eyes I don't know I don't know whatever um yeah his visual style is not for me but I was enjoying the plot and I was like okay this is interesting you know and there's that robot right that there's a robot there who they used to work for the they used to serve the king but the king got assassinated so they just laid down now they won't fight yeah they'll carry [ __ ]

around for you but they won't fight anymore like cuz yeah and I was like this is quite interesting and then it stops being about any of that yeah it was just them and so and I heard people's complaints about where it seems like they're just traveling around picking people up right out of nowhere complaint but there is a reason for that right so but it's still stupid like yeah so we're gonna do spoilers I guess they it's been out for a while cuz I was so confused about this at first I don't know if I'm ever going to watch this honestly so she she used to be skip ahead if you don't want to hear spoilers I guess for Rebel Moon um she used to be the bodyguard for the King's Daughter

right correct me if I'm missing anything here Luke and now she's like fled the what do they call them the the mother Planet the army of the mother planet or whatever the [ __ ] they call it and she's just hiding on this she's hiding as a farmer on this planet CU she's like now these guys are like Space Nazis they're literally Space Nazis they dress like Space Nazis they're Space Nazis and they're going to they're going to come in and then so the reason iils metaphor yeah so she's working on this planet on a farm and then the Space Nazis come and they've got these rebels in the system and the Space Nazis come down and the and the space Nazi General says we've got a prolonged um battle going on here in the system it's going on for longer than we thought we need supplies um

you're going to give them for us we want your spare grain and then that goes on and then it turns out just kidding taking all the grain we'll be back in 10 weeks you're [ __ ] and and she says oh this is what they do and I was like they're quite interesting like you know bace Nazis sounds like Nazis to me yeah yeah and then she goes I got to go find the rebels it's like oh yeah fine and then so they go to SP to to mossely on that planet Mosely equivalent and then so and then the guy that she's with says oh actually I know where the rebels are and then she goes okay well then we need a ship so then she goes into the bar but then starts asking if anyone knows where the rebels are anyway and

then gets into a bar fight as a I like why the [ __ ] is this happening like why did she even mention it she already knows where they are so that was confusing to me so then they get into a bar fight and then Han Solo helps them and then and then they immediately trust him and go on his ship and then he's like oh I've know someone we can go you'll like him takes him to this other planet to meet was I thought all they needed was a ship at this point right so did I so then he goes I know someone you'll want to meet him he'll help you and then but then they go to this other planet where it's this guy who's enslaved somebody and he's like oh when the last time I was here you had a slave out the back and he looked interesting I'm like sorry does he know

this guy or is just what the [ __ ] is going on it's so confusing and then and then the farmer says the guy the guy's got the slave says well I need him but um if he can ride that Griffin over there free but if he can't ride the Griffin you all become my slaves and for some reason they like no actually we don't need him we asked for him we no we need him and and I'm like what it's so weird and anyway this continues where they start picking up all these people under these weird C I'm like it's had nothing to do with anything so far and then it turns out it's because the Han Solo betrayed them he's a bounty hunter and they're all people with bounties on their heads and he's going to turn them all over to the Space Nazis and I was

like oh okay okay that's stupid because it doesn't explain why the [ __ ] she didn't question him at any point like why did she go along with and why if they were going to follow him anywhere why he just didn't take him straight to yeah the jail planet or whatever so then they get together they bring them all there and then they fight the Space Nazis and then they beat this the B the bad space na basically and now we have to wait for part two where they I guess actually progress the plot Beyond the space nais strike back but I can really see why he said like there's an Extended Cut because there's a lot of stuff that not explained I don't see how it's going to explain any of the things I had a problem with like yeah it'll

explain some stuff you didn't even consider yeah but it it might be more interesting lab was perfectly explained maybe maybe the stuff that they cut out was more interesting because it might have been the stuff that I was I was like oh I like this and then it went in a whole other direction it's going to be like when I read that book set between Prometheus and alien Covenant and I'm like finally and then it was just them recruiting people to go on that ship I'm like no no that is not the story we wanted but who's always letting him film all this extra stuff like yes you would fil some extra stuff from but he's not filming like little bits he's filming like another movie on top of as extra bits that's why I wonder he hour he was on Joe Rogan and he was said he was

confused about why people were so divided about Rebel Moon and first of all I don't think they were divided I think it was pretty universally disliked so I don't it's not as divided I don't mean that as a dis I think maybe he's a little in denial about it but um yeah I I know there are some Fanboys out there but I'm always surprised when there are it's not as like split down the middle as he well it doesn't seem to be as he is he it's enough people that he will have a career no doubt but it's not as 50/50 as he seems to think it is or says it is yes well he also thinks that everyone's been asking for the Sucker Punch director's cut for the last 15 years which I don't think we have been yeah he said this week he wants to finish that because he said that they

never let him do it the way he wanted and there's a bunch more footage he said he's got the footage he just needs the money to to do it I mean that was also bad movie actually that's yeah same actually you know what I think that's the point where he lost me literally that film because the the kind of fake obviously fake background thing worked so well in 300 that you were like that's Innovative and then he just did it again with Sucker Punch but without a story and with just like I know hot chicks in a green screen you're like no that's not a movie and that's the thing the weird thing is that there's no reason I shouldn't have liked that but he tried to make very good but he tried to make it more than that and then it annoyed me

because you know what I mean he should have just left all the semi philosophical stuff out and then I wouldn't have been bothered you know that's yeah don't don't pretend it's more than it is if it isn't I watched a movie this week Matt I know you've seen it and I'm sure you liked it Luke I don't know if you've seen it but I definitely know you wouldn't have liked it but I watched I watched mul Holland Drive by David Lynch I've heard of it okay so you haven't seen it okay former former yes former host of this podcast described this movie to me before I'd seen it as boring boring boring lesbians boring right um I really like this movie and I'd seen it before oh good I'd seen it once

before but uh but I I I loved it and actually I I don't like everything David Lynch does I'm not like Matt where I'm just like David Lynch um but uh but this proves that he can make a good movie and I think he's he gets accused rightly so of being a bit abstract yeah right sure but Matt have you seen the Wes Anderson movie The French dispatch no no that's it's a recentish one right it's second most recent I I should watch that Bonito Del Toro right from sakario right you're aware of him so he plays plays he plays this in incarcerated artist right who starts painting these

abstract paintings in prison and Adrien Brody plays this art broker who thinks they're brilliant and they're going to be the next big thing but he's having trouble convincing other people that this is that they're good right and uh so he's talking to these others kind of art stiffs and he's like they're like is this good or is this just scribbles and he's like aha right he's like I thought the same thing so I asked him to draw something that looked like the thing it was meant to be and he drew this bird and he picks up this piece of paper with this drawing of a bird on it right he goes and this looks like a bird so he can do this but he thinks this is better right and I think that's David Lynch That's David Lynch right sure I think people say [ __ ]

David Lynch just [ __ ] makes [ __ ] up no I don't think he does actually he definely I think M Holland Drive is proof that when he wants to make and don't get me wrong I'm not using I'm not holding up M Holland Drive as like the evidence of his like straight go to wo storyline but I actually think definitely from the first time the first time I watched it I I was very confused and then anytime I've had a conversation with anybody that they've been like oh that really confusing abstract movie but when I watched it this time actually it it kind of made sense to me and I was like okay and there's scenes in it that are so realistic like the scene where she's watching her [ __ ] girlfriend get hit on on set by the director and he's he's showing the other

actor how to kiss her and everyone's pissed off and it's just done so perfectly I might see he can do this right that's the bird that looks like a bird right sure so when he does weird stuff there's a reason for it like when there's homeless man or the the blue box and but see the homeless man made sense to me too this time correct me if I'm wrong and maybe I'm well off but I thought this time around that there's actually a fairly logical sequence to this movie and it's just not in order so to me this is a movie about the Hollywood dream in both a literal and symbolic sense lesbians and and yeah well that's part of it so that dreams can affect reality so it's about a woman who moves to Hollywood cuz she did well in a jitterbug competition and thought

she could be a star mhm and wasn't a star and started Clinging On to this other woman who then became a star and then she became resentful and ended up trying to murder that woman and then she has this dream that the Hollywood dream went properly and that her life instead of being the series of tragedies was this kind of mystery that she had to unfill and everyone from the other side of it in her dream version but just as people that she would put where she thinks is the right place and that scene which is my favorite scene in the movie not the lesbian scene the Homeless Man scene right is this other guy Luke who has had this recurring dream that him and his therapist are in this Diner and then they go behind the diner and there's

this like creepy man there right and he's so convinced that this is going to happen that they go to the diner and the therapist takes him behind the diner to show him presumably that there's nothing wrong that there's no one there except there is this hom guy there and when he sees him he has I guess a heart attack and dies of fright or whatever but because he's built it up in his dream that this this shit's going to happen MH and I think that's that's early on in the movie and then I think everything kind of bounces off that right there is a logic to it no you shouldn't it's got some great scenes I don't remember the specifics I know there's a great scene with Billy Ray Cyrus uh and yes he's an excellent character too there's also a great scene

good with involving Cofe he's not really at yeah he's not acting so the the lead guy one of the lead guys comes home and finds his wife in bed with Billy ryus right and it's unclear if he's meant to be playing himself or not or just some [ __ ] with right but the wife is angry she's like why did you come home from work early you've caught me [ __ ] this dude and so he is livid right and that she is showing No Remorse but Billy Ray cus is he's yelling back in Billy ryus is like look that's no way to speak to your wife even if she is like a a cheating [ __ ] he's really good the thing about David Lynch is that he he it is he does

do weird [ __ ] and it it like you said like is it scribbles it's definitely not scribbles like sometimes it's very hard to tease apart what the [ __ ] on about in a film like in particular like the first thing I ever saw was Lost Highway which is which I was like I don't understand but I liked that you know what I mean I don't know I don't know what that was about confusing in a good way yeah and and Twin Peaks is fairly straightforward actually I would say until later like yeah the first season is yeah so he can do that but yeah and one of my favorite things about him is when in interviews when people ask him questions even if you asked him if if you were to say to him oh well Holland Drive you know it's about this lady who moves to Hollywood you give that whole thing that

you gave before he would go he'd be like no no and then that's it the conversation he's not going to tell you because it speaks for itself as far as he's concerned it's like curic talking about A Space Odyssey except for that one Japanese interview that he did for Japanese radio where that woman's like he's asking you to explain the end he's like just tell him you're not meant to understand she's like he doesn't accept that he's like oh fine I'll just explain it then I'll just tell him yeah yeah no I do love David Lynch he's very funny I also love how he there was a there's a clip of him online that always makes me laugh where they're filming a scene for the um the new Twin Peaks that returned and one of the producers comes over and they're shooting the scene and then he's

like okay walk in slower David is like slower slower and it's just I don't know if you have you watched any of the return it's it's very like I I tried it's very slow yeah and so when the producers comes over I watch a guy just deliver something for like 20 minutes I'm I'm turning this off when the producers comes over and says it's too slow you need to to make him the whole thing needs to happen faster L loses his [ __ ] mind he's like what is this [ __ ] fast of [ __ ] man make a [ __ ] TV show anymore like it's great amazing cuz in case you think he doesn't care he really does like it's slow because he really wanted it to be slow for some reason yeah like yeah it's not David Lynch I've told you before haven't I about edus schmus the play I saw called

edus schmus so remember it started out as one of the best plays I've ever seen and ended up being hands down the worst player ever seen right so these two women came out on stage the two actresses and started killing each other right so it's just a white set blank white and they're wearing white and they she stabs her and she's got squibs and she starts bleeding right and then the other one starts shooting her and she's got squibs so all this [ __ ] blood's coming off and then she's hacking and she turns out she's got a fake arm so it comes off and it's just violence right it's just violence violence violence violence and there's blood [ __ ] everywhere and it's a white set right so there's just all this violence no character they just haven't explained anything right

violence then they leave and someone comes out and starts mopping up the blood right mopping and mopping and mo it goes on and on and on and about 10 minutes in the guy looks at the audience and goes this isn't the play this is the intermission I'm just hit while before act two comes on and everyone's like thinking this is part of the show he's like it's not part of the show go how to get a drink or go to the toilet like I'm just going to be mopping up and we didn't know whether that was it real or not as it turned out that was just the janitor just his job was to mop up the blood after the First Act came on and there was acting but it was awful CU they didn't they didn't know they were in some amazing you know uh uh postmodern thing

right yes that we thought we were watching yeah yeah there's a scene in the return Twin Peaks return it's towards the end of the episode where they it got it's the I forget the name of the bar the bar that's in Twin Peaks and uh the everyone's left and it's the B is sweeping up the peanuts off the floor and it I swear to God it goes for [ __ ] 10 minutes and then you're like what is going to happen and and then the credits just start rolling like David Lynch got you and you're like [ __ ] you David I was I was like because it made me laugh like Matt like yeah it did it made me laugh I told you even when um everyone was mad car M comes back as douge the mentally handicapped character so just to be

clear he's he yeah he doesn't play it becomes funny like because you just have to yeah like does duy come back as the the transexual I don't recall I don't think so maybe Matthew Lillard's in it for a bit which is cool Matthew lard David Lynch is obviously in it again later on as as the heart of hearing God what is his name yeah yeah yeah exactly what is that character's name yeah anyway yeah the guy with the the big hearing aids [ __ ] fun that second season of Twin Peaks is ridiculous it's [ __ ] ridiculous it's ridiculous um another thing I watched I watched I've watched all the mission Impossibles all of them um in in the in a span of two months and I can tell you categorically Mission Impossible Fallout

is the best one isry yeah I've got some Henry kav news I haven't put in so let me let me to all right stop it both of you he likes Henry kav separate these two come on yeah it's got got the best action scenes I think it's got the plot is complicated but not stupid complicated at least I I I en ened it like it's a little bit like oh wait what oh okay all right and then what's the big stunt set piece in that one is it jumping out of the plane there's the um yeah they do Skydive out of the plane but the one I really liked is he grabs onto the helicopter at the end there's a big helicopter chase with Henry caval at the end where he's hanging off the bottom of the helicopter and remember Henry caval was upset that he wasn't allowed to jump out of the

plane oh sure he really want to do it you can't do it I'm going to do it you can't yeah I also love just in the back of my mind as I'm watching it the fact that they would not let him shave that [ __ ] mustache off to go back and do more Superman stuff yeah that they were like we could put a fake mustache on him but we're not going to far less we have paid him a lot of money to have a [ __ ] mustache he's going to have one yeah I'll say this it wasn't the [ __ ] mustache or lack thereof that ruined that movie no um was uh he's always good uh TV TV i' see I've watched I've watched the Henry caval TV show this week that I do want to talk about he was great it wasn't he

he was excellent um have you was this was I right in saying that um actor and murderer Alec Baldwin is is in this one he is he's in uh at least two of them uh maybe just two maybe three he might be in three of them he does he shoot someone in this I kept an eye out for it yeah cuz I KN You' said that oh yeah bra he gets um I think Henry caval kills him and Fallout spoilers right that's probably what I'm thinking of and my I just mixed all up guys can you please get shived by Cav oh does he die maybe yeah he does sorry spoilers been out for a while stop it so I'm watching the shoters right oh okay that's how we got to start right

isn't it yeah so Henry caval start so this is Henry VII right the the King Henry Kev the E Henry keville the e no it's uh oh what's his name from Match Point uh can't remember anyway handsome Irish guy as Henry VII um this is Game of Thrones without dragons it's basically politics politics fighting politics [ __ ] politics mhm um it's very good and Henry caval plays the king's best mate who just [ __ ] everyone he just he just [ __ ] everyone yeah and you see it you you watch him [ __ ] everyone

yeah and at one point the king um assigns Henry caval to take his sister to Portugal right and he's like go don't [ __ ] her he says no but K says to him me he's like yeah he's like you want me to take your sister to another country as her bodyguard and he's like yeah what's the problem he's like oh [ __ ] everyone and he's like it's my sister he's like okay that's why I'm surprised you want me to do that manate yeah that's right yeah anyway spoilers you don't know what happens foxer oh one thing about Mission Impossible we mentioned Rebecca Ferguson earlier she's in them right yeah in the first one she's in which is uh is it Ghost Protocol I think it's

Ghost Protocol um oh no maybe it's no it's not it's not f it must be Ghost Protocol no Rogue Nation I'm I'm there's one in the middle Rogue Nation anyway the first one that she's in she because and it surprised me just because I don't see her portrayed this way in films I've never seen her portrayed this way in film outside this film is that she's very sexualized in that one of them and not in others like there's literally when when there's that sequence where they go under the water to get the thing out in the swirly thing and she has to go in and get Tom Cruz out not famous enough to not be sexualized yet I guess exactly and then there's and then there's literally M Simon Peg runs in and then because Tom Cruz is unconscious because he's been underwater and then they just got this

shot of Rebeca Ferguson taking a wet suit off and just a shot of her ass in a in a bikini box and I was like yeah just it really stuck out as like she's not normally betrayed that way she's like and the funny thing is she's not beautiful she beautiful but I don't think of her as a sex icon in any way because I got the I get the impression that she's like no I don't want any of that shited serious yeah exactly so just just in that one film they do that and then in the others there's there's none of that she's taken very seriously like yeah right she's got clout then yeah yeah exactly like she's just like one of the the action people in the movie like she's not like ailia Clark season 2 onwards in Game of

Thrones she's like I'm not doing that anymore I'm famous now put her foot down put her clothes on but we've already seen him me live y in the in a play in a play and we didn't know that was going to happen inory way exactly no well you never know the audience might it the wrong idea they might have assumed you never know yeah we went and saw breakfast at Tiffy we didn't know we didn't know that was going to happen it was just a nice surprise Yes Man speaking of Breakfast at Tiffany's I was watching I've been watching Seinfeld's at the rate you've been watching friends right and um this episode where sein is very good it but it's hid and Miss but then again I find

frenzies a little bit too but friends you you can guarantee at least one funny thing in each this whole episod you're like I don't know about this there was one great one I watched yesterday where um Elaine starts dating a communist and communism starts kind of influencing everyone and just slowly George has to go down to Cuba and and and um uh Kramer's M Santa and he gets fired for trying to tell kids about communism and it's really funny but there's this episode where George joins a book club and he wants to they have to read breakfast at Tiffany he just can't read a book he just cannot read a book um and uh he wants to rent the movie and nowhere has it so he he finds who rented it and he just turns up at this dude's house and it's just just this [ __ ]

black dude and his daughter right and they're like watching and so he just like asks him can I come in and watch it with you and it's just the most awkward thing ever and problem is is the book the movie is very different to the book in yeah one big aspect so in the in the um he goes to book cloud and he's talking about it but he keeps using the actor's name instead of the character's [Laughter] name watch S I saw two things Seinfeld WR I don't know why they popped up in my even been on Facebook I saw one thing that showed was a diagram showing that Jerry's hallway can't exist because his kitchen blocks where the hallway supposed to be and there was photo it was photos of the set which obviously I know it's a TV show and it's a set but

to see the his apartment and then the diner like photos of Bes each other in a on a Sound Stage was just very like course they would be yeah I guess yeah but to see it was very strange like I saw it and I was like oh my God yeah yeah like it had not occurred to me I mean oh yeah of course I I knew but I'd never seen yeah and so it was confronting in a way friends is the same way it's the the oh I bet it is yeah their apartment it is yeah you can see it see what I mean it's just weird my God you're right it's just right there it just looks so wrong because go um I know it's not cool to talk about Joss Weeden anymore but the dream

episode of Buffy it's like the last episode of season 4 I think um where they just walk from one random place to another is based on which sets touch which sets oh that's funny okay so like there's a bit where he goes from the school cafeteria out the window and through Buffy's window and that's because that's the same window cuz that's just how the sets are built oh that's funny that's great oh I can't stop looking at this picture now you know what's weird about this right so the restaurant they go to every day is called monks right they never show the part so it's it's on a corner it's a real restaurant monks on one corner restaurant the other Corner the any shot in any episode of Seinfeld they

only show it from the side where it says restaurant they don't show monks so you think okay well I guess it's a different restaurant in Seinfield than it is in real life no they call it monks I'll see you at monks let's go down to monks I'm like that's so weird that they call it it and shoot at a real place but never show the sign that's weird might be some reason behind it I'm sure there's a reason yeah there's also so this is one thing I I knew this before because we've been to the neighborhood where the exterior of the friends apartment building you know the the thing they shot as the apartment is not real to set because want to look at the friend because it doesn't like if you if you think about it the their layout of their apartment with the balcony kind of stuff doesn't what they

show on the outside doesn't match what they show on the inside at all yes yeah yeah so um I knew that before I'd ever even watched the show because I've been to that neighbor neighborhood with people like Jenner and her friends and family who wanted to go to see it the friend's place yeah well we I went and saw the the fire station from Ghostbusters when I was in New York I was like I'm looking at that I want to look at that times I went to go see it there was construction work oh like the time I got Big Ben and it was constru Containment device Big Ben was under construction for about 10 years yeah M I went I think twice and it was both times I couldn't see it yeah Big B the the clock yeah London

MH it's always under construction he's out now I think okay might head back over one day you better hurry no but speaking of that I actually am not going to be here next week because I will be traveling but not to London not to London you're going to Vietnam you won't be on the show next week that's confirmed be on the show next week because that's the day that we meet up with a tour group the week after maybe it depends on travel all right well if you want to hear more of Luke before he goes away you'd better head over to patreon.com multip nerdgasm where you can get the Afterparty for little as $5 a month and if if you like the show but you don't want to you don't want to pay $5 a month you can sign up for free and you'll get all the updates in your inbox
