Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke, and Dan. Multiple Nerdgasm, your guide to all things nerdy. There's a lot of dead people because it's been 2 weeks. That's why. I was like how the fuck did I watch so many movies? It's because it's been 2 weeks. It's been 2 weeks. We disappeared to Pax which God I had fun again. Dan, you need to do the Sunday. You miss out on the Sunday. The Sunday is the best day. Yeah, I had to leave early because I I bought a ticket to the poor airline and so I had to
take a bus out to some field and get on a plane. Oh yeah. Gatwick Sundays, a day I like. To go on in fucking Melbourne. Avalon. Avalon That's right, because Sundays, a day we eventually women talk to people. Actually, you're right, I did a lot of talking on Sunday morning because Sunday mornings when I went back to the video game section, which for some reason, even though I assume that's where I'm going to spend most of my time, we barely even hung out there because we're just a whole time. Yeah, right.
He's infected you. I. Really did. And tabletop games. I know, right? Yeah. But no, it's actually because it's actually part of my plan. I like to do walk around the sort of the games to begin with, then spend the rest of time at tabletop. And then on Sundays, today, I like to go and talk to the people who have made the games and stuff because that's the quietest day for them. Yeah, that's sort of Family Day, yeah. I was gonna say Sunday for me is
usually just kind of mopping up, which sounds gross, but it's like, oh, I saw a thing, but there were too many people. So yeah, Sunday, let's go back and retread all that stuff, yeah? Yeah, there's some good stuff, which I'll I'm not prepared to talk about this week because I've been trying to build a bed, a dishwasher. Yeah, and ask me. Yeah, the police have asked me enough questions. Yeah, at this point. Look, I think we should talk about the medals we won, so because that's exciting. So yeah.
I've met this. PAX medal here that says tabletop tournament champion, which is pretty nice. You. What medal have you got, Luke? I have a pity medal from 10 years ago, but it was a pity medal. I've never won an official medal. Then who I taught to play King of Tokyo goes on and wins the tournament. It appears The Apprentice has become the master. Yes, yes, yeah. Full credit to Luke. He he did teach me to play after I played two or three games of
it last year. I was like, Luke, how do you play this game? I think it's fun, but I don't know what I'm doing. I do know what I'm doing now, but I still think I accidentally won. But I'll still take the win. Good enough that. Happens a lot. I will sit down and I will help people learn to play the game and they go on to win the tournament. Even that is that comedian. She's got ATV show. I forget who she is. Melanie Bracewell, I taught her to play the game.
She went on to win the game and then she went on to her show to brag about how she won with people who play all the time. I taught you, bitch. Yeah, I'm also going on my show to brag on it. So I mean, who am I to judge? She's not lying, Luke. She did win. She. Did win. I understand. Did she name check you though? Did she say no thanks? Shout out to Luke Aldous. Now see that's. What? No, she was bragging that she beat people who had been playing
it for years and stuff like that. And that's what. Annoyed. You're the person, all right? So she not only did she not name you, but she shamed you instead. Yes. It had it been like they say, Luke, those who can't do teach, teach. Yeah. I'm a great teacher. I do have to buy this game. I do have to get a copy of this game. Buy King of New York. OK, maybe. Maybe. Yeah.
New York Just that might cost a little bit more. Might want to avoid the US ones right now. That also true. Also true. Yeah, New York just adds a few extra elements. Yeah, just a random few extra elements on top depending on what day it is. Yeah, that's right. Can I enter Trump Tower when I'm there? There are towers which you have to destroy. Oh, too soon, topical too soon. Yeah, it's only been 24 years. Yeah, I do have to buy that. And I bought I bought one game
at PAX and then I also bought another game from PAX after I came home because for some reason I saw something else that I liked there and then didn't buy it. And I came home and I was like, I do want to, I do want to own that. So I I also bought Buffet Boss which is coming yes. Buffet Boss is a great name. That's a that, yeah, that is a great game. It's a bit like some pressure luck like getting getting sort of ingredients and trying to you have to sort of make them sit on a towel type of thing that falls over.
Yeah, so I think it's like Jenga with food with with Asian food. And I figure Harper can play it with us even if she doesn't, you know, roll the dice. Play by the the real rules. Yes. She can still just. Stop far away from playing some of the Quacker games, but. How dare you? Which I think that'll be quite good for her. And you just stop playing. Which of those? Daughter also play them Luke or is it just? Yeah, no, no, no. OK. Because Luke has to teach her
how to do it, and it's much easier for him to come here and teach Harper than he is. Luke doesn't like playing with people as he can teach them to beat him. Yes. No, but I think a lot of those, even for Matt, even for yes, she can play as well. I think they're getting to the age where they keep. Thanks. Mate, they're sort of simple games and just card games and I think they're nearly, they're nearly there. Yeah, yeah, maybe a year or two. Harper enjoys Snap now. She's like stuff like that.
She's she's, she's at the level for Snap. She she understands C2 Snap it. Yeah, we do the memory game that she's. Oh yeah. Yeah, she she likes doing that. She's good at. That we've got a great one that's a yes up Cheats as well. Yeah, yeah, they think. She's very clever too. Yes, they just think they're better at the game than us. Yeah, like dad doesn't turn over cars. This shortcut where I just cheat. Have a little look. Yeah, yeah, and she could be all
the ones I'm not supposed to know about. Harper cheats at Snakes and Ladders too, by just going up and down as she pleases. Yes, there it does it, too. We've got this Disney one where it's like a big board and you move up the board and you have to look for pictures. Have you got that one? Yes. And then yeah, Yeah. And Larry goes, oh, I'll just take the shortcut. And it's like, well, hang on a minute, You can't just go up on because you're near it. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, Yeah.
Well, whatever. Why not? Yeah, exactly. It's just not worth arguing. Then there was my dad, who never ever let me win at chess and I still to this day I've never had the satisfaction of beating my father at chess. And also, I'm not a lot. Now what if our listeners grant I'd beat you at chess? Yes. Never playing, Yeah. Once the one time you played. Didn't we 20 years Patriots a rematch? You agreed to do a rematch. If you paid $100. A. $100 tease.
I think somebody. Did that he was more than willing to pay $100 for a rematch. I also said though, we had to recreate, so we had to go ahead and get very, very, very drunk. Yeah, and we have to we have to go to my old my old apartment in Summerhill. Knock on the door. Sorry, I used to live here. I don't know if you bought this for me. You were. Very drunk and we need to reenact something. Yeah, yeah, we've bought a chess board if that clears anything up.
Yeah. Speaking of listeners, I think the highlight of packs this year for me was that I met a listener. You. Finally met him this show. Yes, I did. I met Matthew. Have you met? Have I met listeners before? I've met the listeners, yeah. I've not met the listener you're talking about. No, no, it's less likely these days. Yeah, we lassie. Yeah, I think I'm, I'm confident that lassie's OK being named. Yeah, I'm sure all I met.
Is. Pomniac Legion. Did you? It was Cognac Legion there. At PAX. A measure on Sunday. There. You go. That's awesome. Hey, guys. So The funny thing about my meeting with Darcy was the fact that he was standing behind me for a good 10 minutes trying to get Luke's attention, unsuccessfully, and not knowing who I was. That's funny. And then when we thinking about he's like, oh, I've seen you
like for the past two days. I didn't know that that you were you so and I didn't know he was here. And you are his favorite and he's excellent. He's my favorite listener now. Yep. Oh, you heard me listeners. He's my favorite. Geez. Gotta pick it up. You're all my favorites. I've hugged multiple listeners now. OK, what? Let's not, let's not get. What? I've hugged multiple listeners, Hugged, hugged.
I don't get weird you. Could have done 3 or 4. Whoa. Maybe five. I've not done 5 listeners. Let me put that out there. I've not done 5 listeners. No, I definitely haven't. What else you guys been doing? Luke's not prepared to talk about everything at PAX yet. PAX what else need to do? I went to the movies and saw a couple of movies. OK, I do want to talk about this. I saw the Naked gun. Oh, what do you think? It was, it was great. It was.
Yeah. Like watching it was like watching the original. And I quite even quite like remember the they did a reboot of Walter Chevy Chase movie. Fletch. National Lampoon. Fletch. They did a reboot of that as well and I think Yep, they continued both of those series. That was really funny. I was surprised. I thought they're not going to, they're not going to nail Fletch. Who's in that? I was going to say Matt Hamm, Jon Hamm.
Yep. Your brother. Yeah, yeah. Well, no, both, yeah, both of them. I reckon that there's a series there that they could continue again. Oh, Luke, hear me out. Stripes. Oh, that's. Going to be. Next, please. And he could be topical because I'm sure they're doing military drives, recruitment drives in America right now. Because no offence, Matt, but you guys are going to war, right?
I don't know who with. I do not know. I honestly can't tell who with, but you're going to. Be anybody you're going to be. Shooting at someone, it could. Be anybody. Yeah, so I think a new stripes is warranted for sure. So you know what you could do against Murray? Play like the dual Sergeant or something, you know? Oh yeah, it could be the general that comes in at the end to look at the the weapons demonstration. As long as you checked his voicemail, he might do it. Yeah.
The other movie I went and saw was Tron. I'm very interested to hear and Matt so. You saw Tron while it was still alive. Yeah, Was it alive? Murdered by Jared Leto, apparently. You see Tron what wasn't even dialled in child movie Tron earthing Jared Leto. Trump wasn't back. No, I heard that. Trump was not in it. No. Right. And the movie made zero sense, even less sense than it was made in the past.
It was about Trump. Trump. The name of this episode? Sorry, yeah, let me just make a quick note of that. But the. Music in it was amazing. Yeah, that's what I've heard. I've heard that it's basically it's two out in music. That's fine. Yeah. Why don't we just listen to the soundtrack then? Oh, I mean. I still I have to get in. Yeah, fair enough. Yeah. I kind of want to see it. So now I'm like, OK, so it's
doing atrociously at the box office to the point where apparently I don't know if this is true because who knows, But Disney apparently have have just said I'm going to we're going to bury the franchise at this point. And it's like, I, I think that's a little bit extreme just because you made a dud movie, but whatever they want to do. What did How did Trump legacy do? I mean I think better than this, but not not great. I. Don't think it did great either. No. So maybe Trump legacy I thought
was good. I thought it was good as music. And that was. It's not perfect too. Yeah, no. No, no at. Least they had the right in it, the right music, the right amount of neon. Yeah, and I'm there, but. I mean Tron isn't that good either. Like it's good in a nostalgic way and it was kind of ground breaking special effects wise, but it's not like. Yes. Plot wise it's pretty podge like. The plot in all three movies
makes zero sense. Somehow. Exactly. In the third one they managed to find out a way to bring them into the real world, but only for 29 minutes. Oh, I didn't know at a time. OK. And then they have. And then they then they die and then they can just bring them back again. And they're trying to poke, look at a way to have them permanently here. And it's sort of like that's like a. Really shit version of the Battlestar Galactica.
Like Cylon 17 minute cycle thing but it's just like not as good. Yep. Yeah, don't. Don't bother. I've heard no, I will. I've heard it's visually good. Is that true? I've seen some of the shots I've seen look look really cool. No, I'm not impressed. No, I wasn't that impressed with that. All right. Because I was thinking maybe I should go see it in 3D because I'll never see that. Maybe what they're saying is that Jared Leto is very handsome, but he's not very good
at acting. Well, this is he's been blamed for a lot of the failures of this. And there was a quite funny exchange I saw online where somebody, it was an article said they've spoken to an anonymous screenwriter from Disney who said that the film would have had the same issues with any actor. It's not Jared Leto's fault. Sure. And and then I saw a response from Gary Witter, who wrote films such as Rogue One and. And yeah, yeah, quite famous Screenwriter said not anonymous screenwriter from Disney here.
And I can tell you that Jared Leto has had a serious effect on this film because people are avoiding it because he's in it. Yeah, I must admit, and I don't know when this started to happen, but I do cringe when I see that he's in a film. When people talk about the fact that movies, what's that? What's some good movie that he's been in? Oh look, I mean other than fighter. Club Fight Club. Yeah, but he's not the star of any of those, although I think he's not the star of this one either, but. Stuff.
But it's. More the fact that people talk about now, the culty behaviour and the potential. I think that must be. It too like that girls are too young. People talk about this in a way that it's become yeah, he's, he's got like a yeah. He doesn't go, he doesn't actually go and see his movies. He goes and lives in the forest. That's the little. Line stuff that people think he's a douchebag because of. All that stuff too, the method acting, sending people used condoms and stuff like. Yeah, I mean, that's not.
Don't like him? Right, that is not on. No, people just don't like him. How big a role does he play in Tron? He is. He's a star. Yeah, OK, so when you when you say it, the script wasn't good in the modern, not even a great movie. Anyway, hiring someone that nobody likes as the main character is probably. It doesn't help. Yeah, he starts off as the bad guy and then he becomes the good guy. Right. I think Gary Wood's point was
that, yeah, like, yeah, sure, the script was bad, but like when you put someone who's people don't like in the movie, obviously has an effect. Yeah, like, yeah, yeah. Yeah, just just stop. That's why they. Tried TV? Ahead of movies. Yeah, there's plenty of movies with bad scripts that I fucking love. All right? So, you know, Yeah. And honestly, there are plenty of actors out there that. Yeah. If someone else should have done it, plenty of good actors it.
Looked like any of us didn't call. Yeah, yeah, that'd be great. You guys want to be in Tron Aries? No, Yeah. No. No, not interested. No, just kidding. We're there. Yeah. Yep. Yeah, you want me in a movie? My own my own Neon. We saw the Tron bike at Pais I. Saw that that was there. And we're so uninterested, we didn't even sit on it. No, it was pretty cool. There was no line for us, like
because the first time I saw it went, oh, they're just going to cordon off. No one can sit on it or touch it. No, no, just no line they wanted. No interest no one had. It I saw some influencer posted a video of them on it and I was like, oh, that back looks pretty cool to be honest, yeah. If you saw it up close. It did not. Yeah, it looks better on film than up close. But look, mind you, you should have taken pictures. Luke and I, Luke and I was were in both in cosplay.
Matt, I don't know if you know this. We didn't. Take photos of this. No, we didn't really, did we? Other people took photos of us, a couple at least we've got. A couple. Yes, I see other couples came up to us and said. We know what you we. Noticed you guys across the room and we were wondering. I mean, that kind of is what happened. But but, but like more awkwardly and less sexually. It was more like I'm one of six people here that knows who you're dressed up as.
Can I take a picture? Who were you dressed up as? You're going to tell me What? Do I have to figure it out? I did my normal Babylon 5. Oh, OK. And I was the 7th Doctor. Yep, OK. Doogie Howser, MD No Sylvester Mccoy's Doctor Who. Very cool. It was fun. Yeah, only a few people noticed. Yeah, because which that's the. Best way to do it, because also if you happen to know, yeah, but that's why I like my Doctor Who costume is because if you don't know who that is, you don't think I'm in costume.
You just think that's the thing. Yeah, you could just be a person who dresses strangely and it's packs, so who gives? You actually there was one time I got called out for the oh, that's a great costume Marine and I'm sort of this is just my clothes. I'm Naked. I will admit I did win a a jacket fall out like Oh yeah, 76 jacket. So I was wearing Jack and they've gone. That's a great, close play, you know? Yeah. Aaron, I just got this. I got this over there.
Yeah. That was a lucky win too, because they only had that one size right and it was just a case of. Benefits because sometimes if there's a competition, Luke will just stand in front of them and refuse to move until they give him the prize. I mean, do the story of that's all you really have to do. Oh, I wish I knew where the photo was. There was a signing that was happening at 2:30. I just happened to be standing there at the time. So I was like third in line, right.
So I got a signature. I got a photo with this with with this girl. I have no idea who her who she is but posted on sex lost control. Oh shit, bloody hell, now I can't quite see where that it looks. Is it just graffitied or does it Is it tie in with something? Little skull I don't know is. She like a voice actor or something? No, I I honestly have no idea she was she was meant to be signing with Remember the old the guy from Good Game. Yeah, Barger. Yeah, she was meant to be
signing with him, but he was sick, so it was only her there. So I don't know, they've got a project or something happening, but I wish she was there. And I went, yeah, I'll take that. It's not Steph, right? You know that that's. Not Steph. No. Yeah, yeah, no. She was there, though. She was there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I did that in an audition once. I was gonna say you were an audition. You've met her. I know you've met her.
Yes, yes. Luke hates her so. Does he? Yeah, he hates. Her. Well, I applied to be on that show. I was rejected, so screw that. By her. By her, Yeah, yeah. They were like, it's down to Luke or this beautiful woman. I would have been. Great on good game because they spoke down to people and I did not like that. Yeah, it was very condescending. Yeah, I did that at an audition once, Luke. I arrived at an audition.
So this enormous line and. And the guy right there was like back of the line, buddy. And I was like, oh, and I walked all the way up, stood at the very end, and then a guy with a clipboard came out. Right. Right. You in number one? I was like. OK. Yeah, I did get some free stuff. I got like some yeah, jackets, controllers, pins, just my normal. Pens. I got a mouse pad which I threw in the bin. See also why we were making fun
of. We were making fun of people really not knowing our cosplay. There was so much cosplay there that we have no idea who they are. No, some anime we haven't seen, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, well, there's a lot. Only only ever more and more things that we haven't seen, yeah. Because ain't that. True, I've been watching stuff, but it's not new stuff. You've been watching some some really old stuff. I've been watching some really old stuff.
Well, before we get to that, I have been watching some. Just really quickly. I watched. I know something that I know Luke has watched. I don't know if Dan's watched. I watched 28 Years Later. Oh. I haven't watched it. And I will say this, it's very good. OK, then gets very weird. Then it gets fucking weird, man. I don't know what's going on so, but I'm excited to see what's happening. I do want to watch this, but I must say I I have to make time to go back and watch 28 weeks
later because as opposed to 28 days later which I saw dozens of times, I've only seen that one once. Didn't. Remember it? Yeah, it didn't. Didn't. But you don't really. Honestly, no. Yes, it doesn't matter because I feel like unless. I'm mistaken. The they've changed this, the the direction that this has gone is kind of odd in a way. It's not it's not really a spoiler the way that they've treated the they do call them zombies a little bit now, OK.
And it's got almost like video game stuff about the zombies where there's like alpha zombies and and things in a way that are. Smarter and. Yeah, and it's cool. It's just, it's just quite different to 28 Days Later but. Yeah, like I think you don't have to see either of them to enjoy this movie. No, it gives you a little recap. Very. There are zombies. The UK has now been. It's a no go zone. So if you live there, you live there. You can't go.
Yeah. It's got more of a. Fantasy ending still is just Power Rangers arrive. It's really strange. It's really strange. I hope you're being literal because if the Power Rangers don't arrive. I'm old lady doesn't. Make my monster grow, then I'm going to be very. I knew that the ending was weird. Luke had mentioned it and I knew broadly what? Like, I kind of knew what happened because I've seen people discussing online and still watching it.
I was like, what? What? Oh, I can't wait. I can't. What? Yeah. Look, before we go on to what you watched Matt and I do. I really want to hear about this and and quiz you further, but I just want to bring up quickly, Luke, when you told me the other day that you would watch The Naked Gun, yes, I immediately just thought to myself, I've got to rewatch Police Squad and fuck me. Oh yeah. We did that up. Forgetting there's only 6
episodes of. This I know. Isn't it crazy? Like, it's incredible that there's so few episodes. They're very funny. It's a little bit hit and miss. They reuse quite a few of the same gags throughout the six episodes, and sometimes it's funny that they keep coming back and sometimes it's like, no, you've used that one. Did you forget? Did you forget you made that joke last episode I. Did that's why they went through your TV show? I think that's why they went from the TV show to the movies,
because. Yeah. You could say a little bit longer. The Leslie Nielsen plays a character Frank Dreven. Yeah, in in the police squad and he plays a completely different character also named Frank Dreven in the films. They're not the same character. You know, the character in the films is getting fucking fallen over shit. And like he plays it so deadpan in police Squad and so does is it Alan N his other his Lieutenant? Yeah. They're deliveries to one
another like they're not. It's like no one told them they were in a comment. I think I like the show more the the movies. I love the movies but the show I think is just is is just perfection. And anytime it's just them two, it's like I I texted you guys the other night because I was in literal tears when he was like, he got married one child that didn't work out. So we married a full grown woman and I was fucking. That's such great dialogue. Yeah. You would not get away with that on today.
No. And like, it's just so like all the site gags and stuff because we watched after we watched the movie, we watched a couple episodes and it was the one where they poses the locksmiths to like to bust the mafia crime bosses who are like shaking people down for protection money. And then there's just like this bit where he's trying to do a key and it just flies off camera. And then and then just later on, it's because of why shut? It's just all these keys stuck in the roof. Yeah, yeah.
It's like just all these little and like. Anytime someone shuts the door too hard, keys just fall down. From. The roof, it's so funny. It's. Very funny, super good. That's what, look, I know we're not going to get the show again, but I hope we do get more movies because I think that there's more movies the way this went, and Leslie Lee Neeson did a fantastic job. Cooper Yeah. Yeah, I think. I wonder if his little scene on Was it Life's Too Short? I wonder if that got him this,
because I would. Never have picked him. Yeah, I would never liked him to be able to do it, but then he was so funny in that scene and life's too short. I got it from a well known homosexual actor. You can't say that. Fine, I got. It we could change the. I'm so good with AIDS. I riddled with it, riddled with it. Selling her body was her only recourse. OK, right. If I could just lighten the we're. Doing this again, aren't we?
You can't say stuff like that. Why can he? We don't know. We don't. I've watched six more James Bond movies. Amazing. How are you? Finding time for this like that was just insane. My first. Christmas there because I can kind of pop them on when I get a minute, like, and watch half an hour to an hour of it and I'm OK, yeah, you know, to pick it up, coming back later to finish it off. Because it's not, you know, when I get to Shakespeare, like when
I get to Casino Royale, I'm going to sit down and I'm just going to watch it because I fucking love that movie. And there've been some of these. Well, like I've said before, when I started to watch From Russia With Love, I stopped and I was like, I'm going to sit down and watch this one because I really like it. So it's happened a couple of times. And do you know, so I won't spend too long because it's a lot of movies I watched Diamonds Are Forever Living, Let Die, All the Roger Moore ones up until now, I've seen For Your Eyes Only.
I've watched quite a few and. Thunderball. Moonraker. Thunderball was earlier. That was Connery before. What am I thinking of? You're thinking of Oh no, I'm thinking me and Rica. Are you getting close with the? Girls in Bron. Yeah, well, he's got. He's got a whole other, He's got a whole other Bond who? Did two never say never again with Conor Ray coming back? Yes. I got to watch that and then I've got Octopussy. Matt, do you know who choreographed the fight scenes
in Never Say Never Again? I don't I know who that. 'D be. That'd be sensei Steven Seagal. Fuck off. Are you serious? I'm so excited to watch then there's so much interesting Bond trivia. We we could do a whole episode on it. I don't want to, but there's just so many interesting, like every. I'll be watching the movies and something weird will happen. Yeah. And you're like, the fuck is that? And you look it up and there's
always some interesting horseshit, you know, like behind the scenes thing. It's like, like for example, the the this is the most recent one in my mind. For your eyes only, right? Moonraker happens and then Fioris only is next and then. So Moonraker is obviously. Fioris only is one of those titles that I it it doesn't instantly connote the plot for me. Remind me which one that is? It's the one. So it it was a return to a more grounded story about they've got this targeted weapon weapon system that gets like it, it
something happens and then they lose track of it. And then the they're trying to stop all the other governments from getting control of this system because then they could make them shoot all the weapons at each other or no world defense systems are it's like a very grounded like spy thriller. If you had to say it's the one with what it's. The one with it's the one with BB, the I, the skiing girl who's too young and Bond won't have sex with her, It's that. Right. OK, too young. If I have to mention, yeah, he's the one with the intro, it's the
one with the intro. I'm going to tell you about that. That is very memorable. So you had Moonraker, which got ridiculous. It got really ridiculous at the end. Yeah, I love it. I think it's great, but he can they go into space and there's a space station and then all of a sudden everybody's got fucking laser guns for no reason. There's they never mention it. Everyone just if. This happened to come out the year of Star Wars. Is it Like, what else was that that year?
Yeah. Yeah, it's got Jaws is in it. Jaws is the the villain. Oh, he's exactly the same character. He's just he. Was a Spielberg Lucas? Tribute he's he's just murders people and then Bonnie. Just said clarify Luke, Jaws is not the name of the shark I know. John Jaws even in in the movie someone says who's that? And then Bond says, oh, that's George. He kills people, right? That's his character is that he's got metal teeth and he fucking kills people.
But then at the end of Moonraker, because the bad guy is trying to basically he's a Nazi and he's taken all the beautiful people to space to make, to repopulate the Earth. He's going to kill everybody with this nerve gas, right? That's the plot of Moonraker. He's built this space station, fly up there in these space shuttles, have laser battles and he's going to wipe out the Earth and repopulate it. And then he says only the most perfect people will be allowed to exist now and that. And then Bond is like saying to Jaws, you think you'll be part of this.
And then Jaws all of a sudden because of that is now a good guy, right? Not just like self interested. He literally is now a good guy and sacrifices himself to save James Bond. Like it just gets so ridiculous. That reminds you of a book by Ben Elton Stark where he's going to, They're all going to. All the rich people are going to leave Earth and they're going to basically just dump oil and destroy the Earth, so. Lego, that's the plot of Moonraker. But anyway, so it got it gets really ridiculous. So like I said, laser battles
and and and nonsense. And then they were like, what do we do now? And they also apparently after that Roger Moore had signed on for three. He'd done 3. He'd done Moonraker as like a kind of contract on a per film basis. He'd said, yeah, I'll do Moonraker. And they were like, is he going to do another one? Do we want to replace him? So they start looking around for people to replace Roger Moore. They talk to Timothy Dalton. They offer it to Timothy Dalton. And he says, no, the movies are
fucking ridiculous. I'm I'm not doing that. If I was to do James Bond, it would be like the books, right? And so they're like, OK, we need to pivot back. So for your eyes only is more grounded. It's like a political thriller. It's got this scene at the start and it's so Roger Moore eventually after he gets the shits because he finds out they're they're auditioning new people, says fuck you. I'm not doing another one. They Yeah. Fair enough. They pay him enough to talk him into it because they can't find
anyone. Yeah, not the only time I've done that either. Yeah, so the opening of your eyes only Bond visits the grave of his dead wife from. Oh. From his from. His Secret Service. Yeah, Tracy visits the grave. He's visiting the grave of his wife. The the priest comes over and says, you they're sending a helicopter for you. They said it's an emergency. And he's like, well, yes, that happens. And then so this helicopter comes and then he gets in the
helicopter and then he sees the priest doing this and he goes fuck. And then it's Blofeld remote controlling the helicopter, right? And it's it's fucking insane. But and so he's like it and it but they can't say blow felt. It's basically you see someone in a wheelchair, bald with a neck brace on. So it's clearly he survived on Her Majesty's Secret Service and he's trying to go harvest a bond. I've got you now. And he's like remote controlling this helicopter precariously around for some reason, not just
killing him. Not just gone straight to the ground, yeah. Yeah, not just, well, not just fucking shooting him like for. Sure. Yeah, infinite ways you could have murdered him. But anyway, so Bond manages to get into the pilot seat, disconnect the thing, and then he scoops Blofeld up on the prongs of the helicopter because for some reason Bofeld doesn't have any hench men with him or whatever. And then? Just hang in there, yeah? As they're flying through the air, with Blofeld stuck on the
prongs of the helicopter, Blofeld says I'll make you a deal. I'll buy you a delicatessen in stainless steel. Remember that line? Yes. What do not remember? You never heard about this? When he said it, I was like, oh fuck, I've heard about this. It's apparently it's some mafia thing. Oh. Like it's because like. Cutting cold meats, something. Like delicatessen is like a food preparation thing and apparently some mafia thing is like I'll cut you a deal by your destiny.
Stainless steel. Like it's like the quality kitchen, but but like now it just sounds like insanity. Like what? The fuck is he talking about? Yeah. Dumps him into a chimney. Blofeld's done with. And apparently the whole point of that was some one of the other producers owns the rights to Thunderball and therefore Spectre and therefore Blofeld. So this, the whole intro to the movie was we're going to introduce a new actor as James Bond. Didn't happen. We're gonna.
Remove the old. We're gonna remove all the. We don't need that shit anymore. Yeah. Dumping down a chimney. This is a message. Fuck you. We don't need your fucking property. Intellectual property. Yeah. So this this just weird thing at the start. And then it's like, OK, serious spider. Movie. Now this is the one with the the smuggler on the boat, right? The guy with the mustache? Yep.
Yes, you get shot, it'll hit the girl, it's the woman. So it apparently the the idea of it was that Bond meets this woman who he can't have sex with because she's so driven by revenge. I was like that because she is so young. That's the other. That's the other woman in the movie, right? Yeah. But but yeah, the whole what? He got to draw the other woman. Yeah. Who does he? He's gonna have to do his job, Luke. There's no time in.
This, you know what? Roger Moore cracks me up. There's so many times in the Roger Moore ones where he literally gets fucking caught because he'll walk into a volcano like a secret base with some villain and then some woman's like, and he's like, yeah, fuck it. Oh yeah, what? He walks in this literally just walks into a trap because like a woman's doing this like. Too funny. Also he is very rapey, especially in the early ones. I forget that because I always think Connery is the rapist. So Connery has a very funny
moment in Diamonds Are Forever. Connery is intentionally. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And the start of Diamonds are forever and the start of Diamonds are forever. He's looking for Blofeld because his wife's been murdered and he's like beating up all these people. Where the fuck is Blofeld? And then he there's this bit where he walks up to this pool. You don't know who this person is. They've never met this woman's there in a bikini. And she goes, who are you? And he goes, my name's Bond,
James Bond. And then he, like, sits down next to him and she goes, can I help you with something? And he goes, it's something I'd like you to get off your chest. Rips the top off. She's with it and says where our clock is, Blurfeld. She's like, I'm just a lady at the pool mate. Yeah, yes. Matt, your favorite part of Diamonds Are Forever, though, is this. He's hiding. Yeah. Such a mixed bag because it's also got you have the 2 gay hit men.
Yes, that's right. Bruce Glover the 2 gay hit men and their theme the is so good. Yeah, that like I don't know, it's such a mixed. Bag They creeped me out when I was a kid. Like I know people say that's that's the worst. Like what? The worst Connery? No, they're good, but. But when I was a kid, I thought those dudes were fucking creepy. Not because they're they. Are they're interesting? They're not made for children. Yeah, no. And then because they're not like, they don't come out and
say, like this is a gay couple or anything, but they just, they say things like, you know. Oh, yeah, she's quite pretty, if you're into that, that kind of thing. Like they make little clips like that. And it's just, I don't know, it's very like, subversive for the time. I think. I like that they did that, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But you kind of remember, like, this was back in the time when we were watching movies that were way too old for us, and that was OK because it was the
80s. Was it the early 90s? Particularly the broader, more ones. So in in Living Let Die. It's got what's her name who played Doctor Quinn? She's Jane Solitaire, Jane Seymour. She plays Solitaire the the the psychic woman who works for. Who he tricks into having sex with her. Yeah, like, literally like he says to her, oh, you believe in tarot cards, right? You do whatever they say, wouldn't you? And she's like, yes, of course. And then he like has a deck that
basically all the cards are the lovers. And so he's just like, well, you know, we have to fuck. And she's. Like yes, we have to. And she's like, I can't, I can't, I'm a virgin, I'll lose my powers. And he's like the Cards said. Yeah, that's right. So and then afterwards, he's he, he goes, by the way, I might have, I might have rigged, lied about that. Yeah. And she goes, oh, it doesn't matter now. Yeah. Yeah, because she's she like,
because. I'll be killed. Yeah. I'm useless now to my but. He's yeah, he's very, yeah. Because I was like, oh, that's. Can't do that. He tricks him. He does it's a bunch of times and then also he'll like he'll like sleep with them and then pull a gun on them because they're the villain. He does that a couple of times. Where? He waits, you wait. Dude, like yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah. But I guess at the time audiences didn't see it as
rapey. They just was like, oh, got me, got me. Yeah, he's just. He's. Just. He's just seducing them. Yeah. Like that's, yeah, that's how you get women. You trick him? Yeah, Yeah. I mean, you got to trick him a little bit. I'm enjoying them. Yeah, definitely. Always. Oh yeah, I got to say too, Roger Moore, I know he is well dressed for the time, but he is.
He got the rough edge because. It's the 70s. Style. Yeah, because you go from Connery. Connery's like the suit Connery wears in Goldfinger. Yeah, he's just. You could wear it now. Amazing. Yeah, exactly it. It just holds up. It's like timeless. He looks fucking awesome. You could literally go buy that suit right now and you'd look sick. Roger Moore has very few outfits. Thanks, Claire.
Now and not look fucking insane. Yeah. We could do. It Let's give it a go. Yeah, he'd probably pick it off, yeah. All about confidence. He's also drives the Lotus which is of it's time. In a way. Yes as well you could. The DB 5 still looks cool. The Lotus is like. Would you remember in the, in the Brosnan bonds, they, they, they ditch all those sponsorships again? BMW, it's nice in the first movie because they've got the Z3 and then after that he basically
just stripes a family sedan. Yeah, he's got like the three series. Yeah, BMWs. They basically found the just because they lost even a sport it's cut into storage and then someone just purchased a storage locker because they stopped paying for it and was the Lotus from the movie. Really. Yes, that's cool. Storage walls. I think they rebuilt it, right? What's? That what's that? It got blown up. It gets blown up a couple times I think.
But doesn't it turn into a boat or go? Away. Yeah, it's a submarine. Yes, that's right. Christ was introduced. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and he's in Italy or something. Yeah, there's also the gondola that inexplicably turns into a car for, like, no good reason. Yeah, because he just drives up and then drives off, and then it's never in the movie again. It's like he could have just stepped off it onto the onto the dock. Like he didn't need to have it do that.
Yeah. Oh, and that one little Easter egg I sent you guys the video of that I obviously hadn't picked up on when I was young is in Moonraker when he punches the code in to get into where they're developing the. Nerves. It's the close Encounters. Musically funny. Hate that movie. That blew my mind. Yeah, it's an amazing movie. Horrible movie. Name one other movie that has a Mashed potato mountain in it. That's one of the reasons why I hate the movie. Idiot from UHF.
Yeah, that one episode of The Simpsons. This whole 10 minute thing just makes sense. Melted at a potato? How is that good viewing it's? Incredible. Him and everyone else, they're drawn to this place. Oh man, It's got that classic Spielberg thing where you just, he stays on their face as they go up and see, and then it doesn't turn to the very end. Then you see what they're looking at. Oh, it's classic. Spielberg got lucky. He's speaking with Jaws. Spielberg got lucky with Jaws.
I don't know man, because duels would have been. A different movie, George would have been a different movie if the shark had have worked. George the shark's name was George George from Jaws. Yeah. Yep, if that, if George had have worked the way they wanted, would have been a different movie and would not have been as good. His name is Bruce, right? Actually, Bruce. Yeah, thinking. About it, yeah. No, it was big chap, Matt. Big chap. His name was Bruce on set, so
you've got to call him Bruce. That's how these. That's canonical. Yeah, that's his fucking name. Yeah, the Predator in Predator is named Jean-Claude Van Damme. OK. Oh man. Anyway, yeah, so Bond, I'll keep watching him and I'll report back if anything else is interesting. Speaking of reporting back. You don't care about James Bond. No, I care about him, care about him deeply. I'm very, very keen to see where they take the franchise. Yes, same. I'll.
Hold my breath. I'm fucking excited for Danny to be doing a Bond film. I hope. It would be fun again. You know what looks fucking fun is the fucking Double O 7 video game that we're getting in a couple of months. Bring that on. Yeah, when is that? In fact, because I need something to play, I purchased Shadows, but I haven't really played it. That's why. Catching up on so many games at the moment is crazy. Coming out? When is it coming out?
This next year, Oh. March 2026? That's not good news. Yep. That's that's too far. That is way too far. What games are still coming out this year? Out of Worlds 2. No, you don't. Oh, yeah. Hey, look, Speaking of games, we should probably talk about the Xbox a bit. Oh yeah. Make Luke, Luke, Luke. There's some hope for you. Well, let me. Just comment on this too because.
Oh, OK. We went to there was an Xbox booth that packed, which there hasn't been an actual booth there in a while. That's true. And like we, we can't comment with any authority. It's just that there was a conspicuous lack of something in the booth. Do you want to guess what it is? Yes. Yeah. Right. And the whole point of it was they have York, they have pictures of a laptop and they go this is an Xbox. And then they have that little
dongle and they say this is an Xbox and. Yeah, that's why it's so weird that they, like, they literally saying they're not, they don't, consoles don't matter anymore. But then they've come out and they've said no, no, no, we're committed to Xbox hardware. This people, you know, these reports of us exiting. False. Yeah, you're not. They have. They have, they've always confirmed there's going to be at least one more physical like Xbox that's coming out. But they are preparing for the future where, yeah, you don't
need the hardware and it's just all going to be streaming. It's just you got to wait for the world to be able to handle that. Yeah. Mm, hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah, because there was also this week people over here saying other stores like Walmart and Target also no longer have any Xbox stuff. And Microsoft has come out and denied that as well and said that was just a coincidence, like, and then but people who work there said no, no, no, Microsoft doesn't pay for display space anymore the way
that the others do. So we're not going to they're not going to put the stuff out. And it's like, oh, OK, I didn't realize that they had to pay for their stuff to be in shops. They. Get to play their new handheld. Yes, we did. That's not theirs though. No, it's not theirs, but my God, it's amazing. Yeah. Right, I I I found it too big. I found it too big. It was. I found it perfect. I had to make my hands. Further apart than I'd like to have.
And I mine arrived in. I'm not. Used to holding something that big, you know what I mean? Mine arrived in 12 days. Hey. Oh fuck. All right. Yep. I'm, well, it's good because it's like you're playing it and it's the same as like an Xbox. So if I want, it's got the quick play. So if I want to switch the game quickly, I can just do that. And I was able to switch. Like 4 to 5 to Indiana Jones, like in an instant. I can do that on on my absolute.
So I'm not interested. But can you install it? Well, I don't need to because I can play games that I have installed on my Xbox. Yeah, but this I can install straight on, so I don't need to worry about having to have Wi-Fi or hotspot off my phone. I can just play it. Yeah, true, true, true, true. Any games that don't require you to be online, which we'll see. Yep. No, I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited for it. And I was right. They're aiming. They're aiming for the future. Yeah, all the.
Circular evidence points, but here's the thing. Look, if you wanted a classic console like say a Nintendo, like an S, you'd want to buy a console, you'd want to buy the controllers and you'd want to buy a bunch of carts as well so that you could play them. Games aren't like that anymore. It's like movies aren't like that. Like if, if, if Xbox said no, it's just fucking download an app onto your smart TV and then just boot up the the interface like you would. It's like, well, I don't care if there's a box there or not. I just want my account logged in
with the stuff I've paid for got going for them. If you look at PCs and the controllers you people buy for them, they're not buying Sony controllers, they're buying the basic Xbox controllers to plug in. The Sony controllers suck. Yeah, I've been playing some. PlayStation 5 stuff and what have you been controllers kind of like? I've been playing Gran Turismo and I've been playing Silent Hill 2. I do. Want to Yeah, yeah, the. Sound is very good. I'm very.
Envious of anyone who can play silent. Hill too. Have you been playing GT in VR? I've I have played it in. VR generally no, because it's it's a hassle to set it up and if I've got time to play, I just want to play. I don't want to have to plugging all that in. So. So it's not. So much better. That you're like, fuck, I'm missing out. I've got to put, I've got to get the headset. Well, so. The GT greater is more when I'm
playing usually. Like if I want to just make some money so I can buy a new car or parts or whatever, I just want to play, I'll just jump in and do a race on the TVI don't worry about it. Yeah, but yeah, and you know, you've got a good TV and you've got good speakers and all of. That so yeah. Well, I I use the headphones anyway. So it's a good experience, yeah. Is there I was thinking about. This the other day because I. Don't play any. Of the F1 games, never played an F1 on the Omega like since then, but is there a retro F1 game
where you can play like Monza 1965 like you know, in the in the like old timey cars and stuff, because I would play the shit out of that. I don't know. I think so do play the F1 games and I think. Sometimes do have like flashback races where you are playing right? Like you like the six wheel. Yeah, Formula One cars. Yeah. Oh, the. Real. That was really long while. Yeah. That's some Formula One. News it's.
Funny and. You think Formula One cars always kind? Of looked like that and then you go here's 1 from 1995 and one from now and you're like holy shit yeah they they get paid at times look at the. Ones from like the very. Very early ones, they were like just really long monster cars that killed people, yeah. Stole their souls yeah OK went weird and. Transformed in the robots. And at the end of the race they'd interview the car and he'd say I'll did my best. Some F1 news just. Quickly, Apple has purchased the
exclusive rights to stream F1 in the US. It'll be the only place you can watch Formula One in the US next year for for four years, and you're gonna have to pay more. Or do you just? Need Apple TV to watch? It's included in Apple TV, so technically. I'll be paying less because I already have. That yet so. And I already got an e-mail from the F1 TV thing that I subscribed to saying, sorry, we're done, we're going away. It's just like, fuck, all right, that's happening, but you're just, you're actually.
Just saving money for a change, yeah, yeah, I mean the F1 it's. What like I think it's 80 bucks a year, which I mean into like it sounds, I guess it's a lot, but I mean compared to like buying a space, it's not when you in Australia, if you want to watch it, you have to. Get it's not that bad and it's 20 kaos in kaos some yeah Ko is saving. $80 a year so. They always want to use and the only. Saving grace about KO is that they absolutely do not mind you cancelling and then pick it up later. Yeah, there's no, no, because all because they know the second
point. The NRL starts, I get it, the second it finishes I can't slip and then once I start being. That e-mail where you go. Hey, yes, you know what you like now, don't you guys that accidentally. Got into golf this year. Watching it or playing? It series. Watching it so. What? Yeah, so I was, I was at the gym and the, the, the, the American, what's it called? The The Tour, the PGA Tour, Yeah, was just on. And. I've never liked golf.
I would, if you'd asked me, I would have said it's not a sport. It's the at best, it's the most boring sport there is. And I only started paying attention because I started going and they dressed so smartly. These golfers, you know, like they're so old. They're a. Nice. Narrow pant Fisher polo 2 tone brogue shoes, little glove. I'm like, would you like to go play golf glove? And I was like. One glove. Love that.
Oh shit, my monitor's just gone off. I thought I'd fix that problem, but and then I started being like, but shame they're playing such a boring sport. But then you start watching it every day, you know, at the gym I go at the same time and it was always, it was always on. And I started being like, oh, he's this guy again, Willie. Oh, OK. He's playing a bit worse than yesterday. OK, bad luck. Bad luck. I'll stand here and I'll watch. I'll watch till you get better. OK, Good.
You got it. And then I'm at home and I'm going. Hmm. Pop the golf on. I wonder. Yeah, I. Might pop the golf on SO. I watched a bit of golf this year so I sell some. I am a bit like me with lawn. Balls. I think the lawn balls comes on TV. I have to watch it. This has to trump me. I get. Into I get into a. Middle-aged sport and he's like fuck it, I'm going straight to
the elderly person. Retired geriatric sport but do you want to go and play a round of golf? Because I'll happily do. That, yeah, I wouldn't mind it. Fuck. Off if if nobody minds that I you guys aren't allowed. To socialize. That so much without me it's not. Fair. They won't be in America soon. Matt, you'll have to come home. Yeah, I suppose no offence, but something's. Happening in your. Country. Yeah, I'm.
Aware. I'm aware. How many states do you have now? I'm not sure anymore. You do. Do you have to? You've got to include Israel. Now, I assume as a state, right? Yeah, potentially. I mean, it's essentially. Bankrolled by the USA at this point, I think. Isn't it? We've got some. You've just reminded me. We've got some news. It's like, oh, we love talking about Israel news on this show talk. About Israel, we don't have to
get into the politics of any of that. Kind of stuff. I was just this, this caught my eye and then I was like, oh, there's just something about this that made me go oh, OK, so Brussels, there was going to be a disturbed show, you know, disturbed the band. Yep, Yep. They were draining. Yeah, they were playing in. They were supposed to play in Brussels and they've cancelled it. They've cancelled the show. Brussels have cancelled the show. Brussels on behalf of.
Yeah, they've said no, you're. Not allowed to play here. Due to security concerns over David Draymond's support of Israel. And I was like, oh, that's interesting. Like, you know, I mean whether you agree. To my mind, I'm not saying you don't. Have to. Be Jewish to support. Israel, but no taking a heart. And I was like, Oh, well, he just said that he supports Israel, that. Seems, you know, a lot of people are doing that, like, you know, cancelling the show.
And then I was like, what? And then you read the article. It's like, no, no, no, he's been over there signing the missiles that they're launching at fucking Palestine. Oh God. I was like, I was like, I was like, OK, that should be extreme, like just for signing them. Jesus. But yeah, OK, OK, that's. I mean, look, his band is called that is. Support. Yeah, in a way that I. Did not expense. I'm sorry if you saw that's going to go and kill.
People that that's like, that's very. Strange behaviour to be honest. Yeah, this. Mohammed signed David. Yeah, that's weird. That's that's a weird thing to do. And it's a weird thing to do. Yeah, AI wouldn't have thought. He was that popular. In Israel he is. Now, I guess I know, but you know, I mean, I mean, this is one way to drop rock and heavy metal in in the military. Knock on the door and go Hi can I sign some? Missiles there are very. Twitter views visiting the IDF
and he's got photos of him. Standing there with with with them and he's literally just signing shells and stuff. I'm an Australian born and bred, but if somebody said to. Me can can you guys from, you know, famous Australian podcast multiple Nogasm, can you come and sign some missiles that were going to fire at any country? Yeah, I'd be like it doesn't matter. Don't think so. No, nothing. It's not a country on earth. I'd be. Like yeah, fuck. If if we've got time travel back to World War 2 and they.
Said Will you sign these shows? We don't look at the Nazis? I'd still say, you know what? I'm not comfortable with that. Yeah, unless it was the those people firing. Directly at Adolf Hitler, Yeah. In which case maybe I'd be like, those are people. I'm from the future again, I just. Think it's a very. Strange thing to do. Regardless of who you're launching them at anyway. So yeah, funny show. Cancelled. Yeah, Yep. Fair enough. Fair enough.
Honestly, that's very political. That is very political. You know, Jerry Seinfeld saying, look, I'm a Jew, so of course I'm pro Israel, but like, don't ask me because I, I, I don't, I don't know the politics of and I'm not going to get into it like it's a different thing. He hates Palestine and. Like he never said that there's. Having an opinion. And then there's whatever this. Is yes. I want my name on every missile. That fucking takes out. Or even because then it's like, OK, maybe he doesn't feel that strongly. About it then why are you
signing the missiles? Why are you there? They just asked you to autograph. Some stuff, did you not? Ask them what the fuck they were going to do with them. Like, I'll just take this missile. Home. Can you just? Yeah. That's the thing, I feel like there's no, there's no way. To spin this where it's just like, yeah, OK, that makes sense that you did that. I've never signed an autograph in my life. Not once.
Not ever. I have you have It was awesome was when was in a band someone asked me. To sign the setlist I've never signed. I will sign the setlist. Yeah, 100% the best day of my life. Yeah, 100%. But it's great. But if somebody said sign, you know my autograph book, great, of course. Sign my T-shirt, Sure, you know, here's a sucker to sign my list. Also fine, if you came to me with a missile and said could you write your name on this, I'd be like, absolutely fucking not,
mate, Yeah. What are you going to do with it then? Why no first? Yeah, no. What are you going to do with? It How did you get the in here? Yeah. And. Then to be clear. The the answer to the. What are you going to do with that question is not going to nullify my previous answer which is relevant. I just need to be able to tell the authorities. Where this is going? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it was not the best.
Day of my life I was being. Hyperbolic in case anybody's gonna anyone's upset by the fact that I've ranked. Yeah, signing a. Piece of paper My child are listening to this podcast. Exactly. Yeah, in case it's the future and Lyra's catching up on all this shit ever so slightly hyperbolic. Just a teeny tiny bit. Look, I want to go over into. The after party Les soiree derriere. But before we do, I just want to say that I watched a movie this week too. It's Halloween season.
I try to watch horror movies in October and I watched a movie called Weapons this week and it was, what's the word, very good. It was very good. Excellent movie. It was excellent. It was. A very good. Premise, but also the payoff. Not A twist or anything like that, but just the, the the explanation to why crazy shit is happening was perfectly satisfying in a way that, for example, if this had been a Stephen King movie, the 1st 3/4 would be fucking excellent. And then at the end I'd be like, OK, well, you've ruined it
there, but fine. Yeah, no, this was like, yeah, great. Because I feel like. The difference is. This started with what is the base premise and then kind of teased bits out and like, OK, how can we make this kind of mysterious and and compelling in a way that Stephen King starts the other way around where he's like, here's this big mystery and then he works his way and then he gets the middle and he goes, oh, fuck, I don't know how to tie this all together. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There you go. Nothing to do with it.
Something that I'm. Writing Aliens. Yeah. Yeah, as I think this. This works the. Other way around where it's actually on paper it is more straightforward than it appears. Sure, yes, sort of. And it's not a. Normal movie where because you. Decide what the ending is, right? No, they tell you. But. They they tell the story in a fragmented way. So you find out, they they drip feed you information, but you already know the beginning,
middle and end of the story. Yeah, at the start. But they just give you they. Recontextual. They constantly recontextualize and it's it's very good. It's got some stuff in this is so. Disturbing for I'll just say, like if you're from the 80s like we are and you're terrified of fucking needles as we are, there are some stuff in this that's just like, Oh my God, oh man, yes. Yes, I know it's not even like that. I'm not trying to give it a. Watch this week. You should very.
Good. It's just very good if you it's not. Necessarily into horror movies but you just like good movies. Well told stories. This is 1. I wanna say one thing before we go the after party on Lukes thing. About Christopher Nolan, right? Yes. Have you heard this anecdote? This is from? Craig's. Podcast Craig's one of Craig's friends, I forget which one. The the inception thing have you did you need the story at the end?
You know the story. If I did, I don't remember it. I I've kind of stopped. Listening to be honest, but this may be from an old one they were talking about how? The inception, how it's ambiguous at the end, Right, right. And then one of them, maybe Bruce. Oh yes, it was, you guys know, in LA with the editor who was working on Oppenheimer or something like that, and they were having lunch. And he said, oh. You know, I've got to, we could have lunch and then I've got to go back to Chris's place to keep
editing. And he said, oh, yeah, no, I love Christmas movies and that I love, you know how the ending of Inception is ambiguous? And he said, do you want me to ask him what the what happens at the end? And he. I don't know. And he goes, all right. And then he said later on, he got a text. He got a text from him. And he goes, I asked him and he said, yeah, no, those are his kids. It's it's not a dream. And he was like, fuck, you ruined it.
Yeah. What did you tell me that for? So because I want to. Know he came to the movie. I'm not happy to work it out if this is true. If this is true. According to Christopher Nolan, it's not a dream. Those are really his kids. Excellent. How? Close. That's so funny because he point was he got a text. He read it and he. Was. Like, yeah. Right. But that's like that Japanese
radio interview with Stanley Kubrick where the the the translator's going. He's asking you what the ending of 2001's about. And he's like, I'm not going to tell you. It's supposed to make up your own mind. He's like, she's like he doesn't get understand that. He just wants you to explain the ending. He goes oh fine and then just explains it like he never has in any other media. Like if you want. To know what that ending is, just Google Japanese interview. All right, I'll have a look.
I love that though. Like, because back then I guess they thought, oh, it's not going to air in no one or I'm in Japan. Yeah, yeah. No one's ever. Going to see this, they're not going to invent something. It'd have to be some international network. Of computers for me to be some sort of tube of for. You for you, yeah. Not for me. For you, I'll be dead. It's it's a tube for you, something else that's. For you, listener, it's the after party.
Yeah, and if you want, give it to you. Yeah, it's it's. Available at patreon.com/multiple Knickers for as little as $1.00 a month, you can support the show and get the episodes early and pop into the community. And then at 5 bucks a month you get the after party, which is where we will continue talking for about half an hour or so. You'll see, you'll see it's getting like $100. You get to do. Something with me. Stop offering it if you're not going to. Clarify what it is, how many
times I told you what it is. Yes, follow through. Zero times you can offer it once you know what it is OK. I mean, there's, there's people. Putting money down on the. Table. We've had people give you the money and. They're waiting. Waiting to decide what it is. No, we're not allowed to do that. We're not. Allowed to do that on Patreon? No, I think there's something on Patreon that. Says if you promise something. And. Six months pass and you haven't
done it. You have to suck them off. Yeah, that's just that's in the terms. And conditions, yeah. I mean, that's on Kickstarter, right? If you don't get. Like if you back a game on Kickstarter, it doesn't come out. They have to come and suck you off. Yeah, I owed a lot of blow. Jobs then and you can't you can't say no, I don't want it either because. It's a contract. They have to do it. They have to.
They have to do it. Legally obligated to do it. You have to let them, yeah. And you have to finish it says it in the. So I have to let them suck me off. Yeah. Oh, OK then. Yeah, yeah. And you have to like it. Yeah. You have to like it and if you don't like it gets worse from there, mate. Yeah, that's way worse. Yeah, you. You want to like it? Just let that be the end of it, all right?
