[Music] you'll know what I mean once you've seen the film all right yeah I don't think anything that's actually up for an Oscar I don't think is a movie for me uh Birdman you might like I might okay let me let me go down the list cuz that's that's a big statement so Oscar Noms 2015 I'm I tried to see them all I didn't see them all uh but I saw most of them so let me go down the list I don't think I've seen any of them wait no I saw interstella okay American Sniper no you might like that Luke do you like snipers war movies I like playing the game Sniper yeah close close enough close

enough you mean the one that's no actually no I don't know that one Sniper Elite 3 or something right American Sniper Elite you might like this Birdman right that's about the actor who used to play a superhero and trying to get into theater or something correct I mean when you say it like that it sounds [ __ ] awful but it's got Michael Keaton you might like it yeah it's got an actor who used to play a superhero in it yeah an actor who is a superhero yes grand B pest Hotel we've already talked about on this podcast yeah I I like that imitation game that was pretty good I did want to go see that one that one did look imitation game yeah that's got um Benedict plays the guy who invented the uh code breaking device in World War II

I thought maybe was about thought May was about that Chinese Steve Jobs what the Chinese Steve Jobs have you not seen him no should I Google that sorry yeah you should sorry I that joke fell flat because you don't know what the [ __ ] I'm talking about but in China there is they have their own version of Apple Stores oh God they do and they R off all the products and they have their own Steve Jobs God why have we not talked about this before I thought we had we have not and look I can say to me that when I went to China my favorite thing was the Chinese Colonel Sanders right on the Chinese KFC so I would have loved to have seen the Chinese Steve Jobs Yeah well yeah they um they rip off

all of Apple's products I believe and um I mean I assume this guy was forced to die of cancer yeah he would have has to have been wouldn't he so yeah and apparently they're doing better than Apple are in China of course they are because there's nothing to stop them selling this stuff over there is there well no knockoffs no no this kind of stuff is legal as far as I know over there yeah or or no one gives a [ __ ] yeah I don't know if it's strictly legal but uh yeah is this chin is Chinese Colonel Sanders yeah have a look are you serious yep is that that's the KFC logo in China correct on all of them no actually look I've seen both we saw lots of KFC's I I'll be honest I ate KFC like four times in China are you sure it

wasn't you sure it was CFC China Fried Chicken yeah I'll tell you the KFC in China is is delicious yeah right yeah well I mean they they do they do stuff better than we do the Asians they they tend to take it and go to the extreme go with it yeah it's true yeah yeah unlike here where I get the craving for KFC probably once every 3 months I buy it and then instantly regret it yeah instant regret yeah I I've never not gone oh God never again I I actually was I get the same for McDonald's as well and about six months ago I it's it's becoming shorter and shorter and shorter the window between finishing the meal and the remorse but I was eating the last time I ate McDonald's I actually got that food remorse during the burger

like I actually had to put it down and go I regret this this is the one thing I missed about um we don't have in camera we don't have Hungry Jacks really which Hungry Jacks I actually don't mind it's not as terrible as McDonald's but yeah we only have like one store and it's not even it's hard to get to 100 Jack St or just one store one store I'm imagining a little country town with a general store well that's what we are we're a small country town with better roads Yeah well yeah it's fair I actually used to work at Hungry Jacks uh a long long time ago uh and I'll still eat their food so I turned and could no longer digest it it was almost instant it was almost instant yeah no yeah I have trouble with a lot of that stuff now to finish up the list though best P sorry two more Whiplash which we've

talked about which you might like and Matt I think you should see okay and then the last one Theory of Everything which is the story of you know um everything everything the Steven Hawking oh right you saw that I did see it I've seen them all and it was really good all right yeah where is Gans of the Galaxy and the um The Lego Movie yeah I agree Guardians of the Galaxy Lego Movie didn't even get up for best animated movie The Lego Movie wasn't very good I haven't seen that was amazing movie no no sorry I disagree I I love that movie well I got nominated for best original song and that was it yeah look no I know everyone loved it I just I I didn't I didn't like

it hey have we talked about Big Hero 6 on this podcast yet no I haven't seen it yet I want to really wanted to see it so I went to see it during its first week right and in the first 10 minutes I had this huge grin on my face and I was thinking to myself I can't wait to tell Matt and Luke and everyone to go and see this movie and then slowly it got [ __ ] and [ __ ] and [ __ ] to the point where I was like I would never recommend this to anyone like such a strong award uh for best animated cuz I know that was nominated it was nominated Big Hero 6 Box Trolls How to Train Your Dragon 2 song of the sea and tale of Princess Kya but uh yeah it could have won I don't know uh but it was awful just full

of unlikable characters in um in just bafflingly stupid scenarios for something that started so strong oh well I won't bother with it then one one look you you might like it anyway because I'll obtain it I'll obtain this kind of stuff your [ __ ] meter is lower than mine I was going to say because what Dan because you will accept a lot that I won't accept just in the way that I'll accept a lot that you won't accept sure in different types of movies yeah from a think I'll just wait for it to come out on Netflix yeah oh we're going to talk about Netflix are we is that what that is I I definitely felt it was a loaded statement have we talked about it at all actually I'm not sure sure if we've

tail no okay but foxtail I reckon will keep all of their great shows ex exclusively on foxtail that it sounded like such a publicity statement I'm sure foxtail is going to keep all their great shows on fox tail exclusively on fox tail I find that foxtail are doing something stupid by being more expensive than Netflix and Stan I I think it's stupid as well I think it's they should they should have been out first and they should have been about that $10 mark not coming out later charging more they're they're out of the market before they get in do you have to be a fox subscriber to subscribe to their demand no Who's Got Game of Thrones uh that's going to be on fox tail well they probably win then no no

it's absolutely stupid it's lazy it's an ad for them because they just show other shows that are on their Network yeah but they show shows that aren't on their Network too that's what I thought or I'm just like oh this is just a blatant ad for Channel 10 but I'm like no this Channel 7 stuff plus it's actually a co-production with a foxtail Channel H cuz they advertise it on lifestyle as well I don't quite get it the appeal or the concept weird no is it do we know if it's doing well is it going to stay on cuz this I think it's gone longer than I thought it would let me yeah I thought this would be one maybe two episodes cancelled yeah because they have done that before you know they have they have canceled things after

only a couple they've canceled things mid mid aing I think haven't they yeah I do recall that happening at least once no I can't find any ratings for it snuff box was canceled before the first episode finished yeah well we turned that off before the end of the first episode didn't we was that was a pretty funny show there was some bits that were quite good but yeah I know that it was pretty weird yeah we have some viewing coming out in the future yeah which will be better than goggle box absolutely I hope so and for those who don't understand what Luke's talking about what we did we summoned the ghost of Steve Jobs we did mhm and uh it was quite informative yeah we learned a lot um we're not going to tell you what we learned on the show cuz

figured out how to get the name we've done that on this podcast before too yeah we've talked about it all right so uh should we move on to we're talking about films should we talk about Lord of the Rings yeah I mean look we've all got slightly different opinions on the Lord of the Rings but I think basically we all agree it's uh you know at least two of them are pretty good films yeah I liked I liked the original Three that he made I don't like The Hobbit ones but you know not I might say The Hobbit ones I mean The Hobbit films like as in The Hobbit not just any Hobbits in them which is most of them I think all of them an abundance of Hobbits really yes um yeah I mean and I pride myself on being somebody that sees throughs to the

end and even I didn't bother going to seeing the third Hobbit movie yeah I forgot about [ __ ] point I'll probably watch I just skipped all of them you were wise you were wise but look despite what your feelings are about the current batch of Lord of the Rings movies dating back to the year 2000 or whatever the first one came out up until this year with the latest Hobbit they were originally planning to make one back in the 60s and uh I don't know if you guys are aware of this but it was going to be a musical daring The Beatles I would watch that yeah yeah I'd probably watch it too although at the same time I'm I'm kind of glad they didn't go down that road in in the same way as at some point during

the early 990s they were considering doing the adaptation of the crow as a musical starring Michael Jackson right and I'm really glad they didn't do that yeah but the Beatles have decided at the height of their Fame that they wanted to turn their Collective favorite book The Lord of the Rings into a film starring them directed by Stanley curi was this during their trippy phase or probably yeah I'd go as far as saying probably yeah um now who do you guys think I mean when I read this I assumed that they would just they would play the merry band of Hobbits but it's actually a little bit more complicated than that uh John Lennon wanted to play Golem oh yeah so there was that I could actually see that yeah Paul McCartney

was going to play Frodo and Ringo Star was going to play Sam that makes sense oh Mr Frodo and George Harrison was going to play Gandalf right so I mean the Beatles were 29 when they stopped being a band right so if this is any point during their time as a band George Harrison would have been at best far too young to play Gandalf yeah he's the only one I think would have been out of place the r i could actually see them playing those roles he could barely play Gandalf now I was going to going to say who's going to play the other characters but that's not really relevant I doubted well here's why it's irrelevant they first approached cubric to direct it and he said [ __ ] off I don't want to be

involved Oh I thought he was on board for no no no no that's just who they chose when they pitched this they then tried to get the rights from tolken and when he heard their idea he said [ __ ] off though it didn't happen right uh Paul McCartney has uh since gone on record and saying uh it's disappointing we didn't get to do it but uh I do like the current films which one is he talking about oh he likes the Peter Jackson versions oh okay all right fine not The Hobbit just the uh oh well I think well we don't know what he likes no but does anyone like The Hobbit he was being polite yeah he's probably not going to come out and say The Hobbit was [ __ ]

he's probably just going to go yeah I'll say it was [ __ ] there wasn't there wasn't anything not [ __ ] about it and when you've already got a [ __ ] movie don't stretch it out into three [ __ ] movies don't stretch it out into three really long [ __ ] movies don't film them in 48 frames per second a format that makes anything look [ __ ] yeah like this is all valid Dan they couldn't possibly have made any more mistakes they couldn't have made it more [ __ ] if they tried yeah but they were successful cuz they got the trucks to back up the cash to their houses that's right yeah yeah I know what is it with trilogies I don't understand the whole trilogy thing

anymore I blame Star Wars yeah can you think of a Trilogy before Star Wars Lord of the [Music] Rings uh but in a film no yeah I think really was that that sort of started it all uh yeah because Empire started sequel Madness didn't it yeah like with that then you had IND Jones became another Trilogy and Geor Lucas yeah a son of a [ __ ] and Star Wars isn't even a Trilogy anymore neither is Indiana Jones no it's still a Trilogy both still trilogies Point Fair Point yeah yeah well uh speaking of I guess fantasy

and uh fantasy authors some sad news this week y we um we lost Terry pratchet Another Hero dead of AIDS no no this time we actually know what he died from he died suicide yes see do we know well no I think you can't tweet Goodbye cruel world and then natural causes no I don't think he actually did those tweets apparently from what I understand he's been sick for a few weeks now and people like Neil gaimon has known and because he wrote something about it recently and so he he has actually been ill it's because um for those who don't know Terry pratchet is a a well very well-known fantasy author one of my

favorite authors yeah he he's he's very popular very cool guy he seems very funny I haven't read um too many of his books which I I have to change cuz you know I do like them but he um quite famously developed early onet Alzheimer's and as somebody who was very intelligent and quick and witty um it was [ __ ] so he um he said that he said he documentary um about was it choosing to die yeah he basically said uh if it gets bad enough I will kill myself and he arranged to go to that is it Switzerland the center Dr

kavan the yeah well the whatever the I think it's the Netherlands it's yeah wherever it is yeah there's a there's a there's a there's a clinic you can you can go to and he he was all booked in and everything because he said that he was not going to let it get to the point where he he he couldn't deal with anymore then unfortunately it got so bad that he forgot to go he forgot that he was even going in the first place that's right he did say once and actually one of this quote I always remember because he said it's like at at the moment he knows that he's very aware of everything that he's ill and that that it's all in his head but he will make himself a cup of tea and he'll be sitting there reading with a cup of tea next to him on the on the

counter and he'll look over and the cup of tea isn't there anymore and he knows that the cup of tea is there he just for some reason isn't able to see it and he can look away kind of give him give his head a bit of a shake and kind of go come on look back and it will return and he said the the idea that one day he will not know whether the tea is there or not is is that that's when he's going to kill himself Jesus yeah I know I I I to be honest that would that's [ __ ] terrifying yeah he just can't trust your brain so so yeah he passed away um so I don't know he apparently he was Ill um I don't know what they haven't really said what he died of and my first thought was unfortunately oh did he kill himself um and I checked the article and

apparently not oh okay so so maybe not cuz I do like the last tweets that came from his account which were also notifying and it was basically at last so Terry we must walk together next one is Terry took death arm and followed him through the doors and onto the Black Desert under the Endless Night the next tweet goes on to actually announce with great sadness that he's passed away and then it's just simply the end yeah so that's pretty cool way to tweet your death I guess what would you tweet as your death tweet me yeah a [ __ ] guess I think mine would be something along the lines of I'm going to try something I'll uh I'll check it in five

contract that says this little boy's forkin will be removed and uh there uh the medical board is um is holding that true right but so they've asked him do you want it done and he says [ __ ] no [ __ ] no and they're going to do it anyway so only because his father demands it is that correct yeah see that's just shitty why does his dad care yeah yeah exactly right I think he's his father's a dick well not only that but why doesn't the hospital just go well he's CH his father off he's four now you didn't do it in time yeah yeah and I mean I think there should be like a 3 we window maximum for this kind of thing there's no reason to do it like I mean there there

with that but what disturbs me most about this is that there are genital autonomy Advocates like what the [ __ ] man this thing happens so often that there's a that there's a a grouping well as I understand it there's still uh it's different over here but there's quite a stigma in the US attached to attached to the India penis um and we we are going to remove that stigma there was an episode of pen andella's [ __ ] about it because there was a family that said um they they know that it's not necessary and you know they don't really care or anything like that but they they got the kids done anyway just because they didn't want them to get teased later in life what yeah apparently it's a bigger deal like over in the US I don't know

apparently failed to say thank you he threw a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee in her face grabbed her by the neck and said I'm going to kick this baby out of your womb and then beat the [ __ ] out of her that is the most disturbing thing I've heard in a long long time yeah like that's all sorts of crazy right there yeah apparently it's caught it was caught on camera so I mean hopefully they'll find him but it says at this point no arrests have been made what the hell so I don't know if that's because they can't find him or if because she's not pressing charges I can't imagine you'd be like ah boys will be boys no I don't know maybe there's more to it I don't know it's just there I don't know it seems like I mean cuz she was taken a

hospital and was there were concerns that that you know for her pregnancy but apparently it's all fine now and um I mean but [ __ ] man what a psychopath yeah I mean you'd have to be a psychopath to randomly beat a woman in the street right to begin with right but I'd like to think that even a psychopath would go This Woman's pregnant I might find someone else to beat yeah well I mean I guess in his defense she didn't didn't say thanks yeah I mean that's rude yeah I mean the the rude [ __ ] deserves a slap I'm not saying she should get off scotf free but but I mean he was literally trying to murder her baby yeah he was trying to

it seem like a lot of effort sugary it is a lot of effort it is effort it's dis yeah but you could say the thing about a prawn a prawn is a lot of effort and it's [ __ ] delicious it's a prawn is so delicious that they have to hide it under the sea and wrap it up in this weird shell but no no with the prawn you actually get you see the size of the prawn and you get to eat most of that yeah a mango well that's only cuz you eat the head and the tail as well most people don't you can do that but with a mango you don't get to eat half of it you just don't eat the the seed in the middle that's all the skin or the skin the seed is huge look I like the taste of like the flavor of mango but the

texture of it like the the stringy it's like the it's just disgusting to me like I'm like it makes my skin crawl it's it's gross so if if there's mango that's been like chopped up and like like it's like I'm a [ __ ] child if someone chops CH chops up some mango and I just put pieces of it in my mouth then I'm like yeah this is delicious but if you if someone said oh do you want a mango and like handed me one I can't I can't eat it like it's not food yet and I'm not I'm not able to make it into food without being disgusted oh and people who eat you know the people who munch on the [ __ ] seed no no GH gross sorry sorry about that and that's normal isn't

it yeah we've all got our thing that we can't be called on that's true I didn't have avocados until late in life I I love avocados now oh I can't eat avocados but it's only because of a childhood trauma explain no you know about why I can't eat avocados oh I do oh I want to know I want to know do you not know I do know yeah tell the story oh everybody I've met knows this already I'm surprised you don't know but for the three listeners who might not know I'll give you the I'll give you the Abridged version I was dating someone in high school who I mentioned one day I'd never eaten avocado before and she was like oh it's my favorite thing ever when you

come over next I'll make you something with avocado and she made me I spent a whole day at her house and she made me breakfast lunch and dinner that day all with avocado so it was like an absolute avocado overload and for somebody who was not used to it it was just way too much of a new thing and um I think I mentioned it to her at some point like oh maybe that was just a bit too much or something anyway should have kept my mouth shut when we eventually broke up she became somewhat enraged just you know brokenhearted and bitter and I got back to home room once and um to pick up my bag my school bag and it had been filled with rotten avocados oh yeah filled genius yeah to the brim by This Bitter [ __ ]

and through all my stuff all my books most of it was unsalvageable it was ruined my bag was ruined not an edible piece of avocado avocado and to this day I can't I can't do it you ever can't I have a story about what put me off olives for quite some time but it's nowhere near as interesting when I was young probably about 5 or six there was a bowl of olive that I thought looked a lot like grapes oh man when you're expecting a I love olives but if I was expecting a grape and got yeah was different like just a whole headful just like through about two three and then just that just yeah that's great they seedless yes yeah yeah at least they otherwise you'd have a whole bunch of broken teeth as well it was 20 years

later until I could eat an olive again I love olives man yeah I love them too I can't get enough of them now but yeah for a very long time just no I've never eaten veggie M yeah I think that's one thing you have to acquire in a taste for at a low age it's like the circumcision thing if you're four years old and you haven't had it yet it's too late to have it now ah I might try it so I don't want a name drop but um I was actually talking to Amanda Palmer about veite uh right last year and uh she because you know she famously has that song about how much she hates veine yeah it's disgusting yeah and I asked her not the song the song's quite nice yeah it's a good song but I asked her if she had um now that she's been back to Australia a number of times if she'd managed to

acquire a taste for it ironically she said actually I don't know if this is irony it's just ironically is when you say things that are weird now you say ionically first so I hate that but um she enjoys uh veite with avocado right interesting I that a thing I'm going to have to try that what like on bread no like on a little cracker little bit of uh right veite and then some avocado this is a new segment where Dan's cooking tips have a jingle if that's a segment I demand a jingle all right in fact I'm coming over to do the to do the vocals myself so you ride it and I'll see all

hold the camera where he's holding it I think but your arm would show yeah it' be obviously a selfie as opposed to people just going oh who else is at the Loof with you I kind of get it it's like it is I guess it makes for a nicer photo yeah I guess so but you do look like an absolute [ __ ] Wit carrying it around yeah I yeah I was in Disneyland last year and I saw a billion of these things and I assumed it was just either a Disneyland thing or an Asia thing cuz I was in Hong Kong Disney but then when I got back here it had broken here too and they were everywhere yeah so cheap everywhere in the city everyone's got 30 bucks yeah you can get them on the counter at a 7-Eleven they sell them at cottonon I saw saw them yesterday

Jesus you were shopping in cottonon I was I'm wearing a shirt from there right now cool so uh to take steps against this a lot of uh kind of public accessed privately owned buildings like museums and art galleries and things like that have banned them and the reason is it takes away from the experience see on the one hand I think they're stupid on the other hand that's kind of that's a bit douchebaggery like come on if people want to use a silly stick to take a photo come on yeah where does it stop really you know I mean can you ban someone Google class so much easier you can't take a photo of yourself with Google glass mirror you could just do that anyway you'd have to carry around a

mirror then because you'd want yourself in front Lo so you'd have to carry around a full length mirror set it up in front of the L put on your Google Glasses and then stand there facing away and then actually say out loud Google Glass take photo and probably two or three times do you want to access Google no take photo I like how Italy's Coliseum in Rome banned the sticks last month and it says the twirling around of hundreds of sticks can become unwittingly dangerous spokesman Cristiano Rita they make it sound like it was like a bunch of bow wielding assassins yeah like ninjas are taking photos of themselves with these things twirling them yeah yeah interesting well no I can

actually see it cuz people if they're taking these selfies they're not really paying much attention to what's happening around them but the stick itself doesn't make that happen I mean selfies aren't banned you could still be walking around with your arm out holding a camera H yeah but I've seen somebody selfish and they're pretty much just a golf club yeah yeah but you're not allowed to probably take a golf club into a museum either I think have a problem with that you're not allowed to take photos at all in a lot of them true it's kind of redundant like there is one here that says paris's m d already prohibits all photography inside the building so you don't don't bother Banning the selfie sticks you've B you've banned them yeah like You' you've covered it yeah

then let to take photos yeah I don't know I mean yeah again I think they're stupid but I think telling people they can't use something just because you think it's silly is come on that's just that's just Petty oh man there things I would ban if I had the power to make exactly but like [ __ ] hell yeah like all had Kitty stuff would be off the shelves enormous like 2 inch long plastic Nails some women wear [ __ ] those off yeah yeah like but you know just because I don't like him who cares someone wants to use a selfie stick those shoes with wheels on them oh Hees come on Dan [ __ ] can't stand those come on Crocs [ __ ] those off Crocs can [ __ ] right off why they're not hurting anyone I love it how we all just completely
