other day and I was like why haven't I talked about this on the podcast yet like I see him every day he's the security guard right if anyone tries to break in the security guard is a dwarf you know interesting is he uh is he a good security guard has he there been any issues has he had to assort anybody ranky little bastard actually he's uh he's scolded me when I've been talking to someone who's not in the elevator and keeping my finger on the button to uh oh keep it like if somebody leaves and we just finish a chat he'll come over have have a bit of a gripe about that and um sometimes not alwayss he feels the need to tell me not to use the goods elevator to walk all the way around to the uh

Personnel elevator sometimes he seems to be fine with it pretty much he's doing his job I'm not saying he's not doing his job I'm just saying he's not like an adorable little [ __ ] he's a cranky little Angry Dwarf yeah yeah right okay but you know you haven't mentioned that which is surprising considering we have we represent the lollipop the lollipop which is a famous segment that youed yeah yeah well I mean I I like to think that I didn't invent it I that it was kind of already out there and I just organized it and gave it a name you know what I mean aded it for May format of the show yeah you know everyone was doing it everyone's taking pictures of midgets already

and uh one other tiny bit of [ __ ] news I see what you did [Music] there um so I've got a film in a film festival upcoming and we've had a lot of agents and promoters and things getting in touch and wanting to see the film before it premieres right mhh so a lot of people are starting to watch it mhm and uh everyone really likes it which is great you know we're really happy with that and there's only one thing that anyone ever criticizes but it's always the same thing I know what it is you've seen the film do you want to have a guess what it is it's the is it the scene where all the taxi drivers are there and they're talking yeah about the

midgets yeah yeah yeah just specifically about the word [ __ ] they're like if you were just recorded this with a different word but uh yeah they don't that's interesting they don't like the word [ __ ] interesting they like they like the scene and I'm in do they like that scene you know what we had a sales agent tell us that that scene and your thing about fisting no figering is his favorite scene really yeah that's exciting for me do you want to say what the film is you wanted me to give it a plug yeah do it definitely all right we might as well plug our own [ __ ] shs here we go I wasn't going to mention it but um so it's it's called the taale job it's playing at the slam dance film festival in Park City Utah between the 22nd and 28th of January

stars or strippers to come out and do it and they they just stripped on Loop for 8 hours while these guys sat there and watched them and drank the free beer we provided that is a tough job so I just want you to know Luke that that's the role that you missed out on playing that's the role I've been training for all these years y that's awesome well yeah congratulations and yeah if you uh if you in the area go check it out it's a good film I mean I'm biased but I I I really enjoyed it I'm not I'm not in a lot of it and the bits that I'm not in I've thoroughly enjoyed as well so that's well nobody's in a lot of it that's kind of the the structure of it yeah right is they kind of travel around and meet people as they go so we'll link to the trailer yeah we can link to the trailer

came out this week one of the news stories was that the game Rocket league is coming out on the Xbox One and uh and we suggested when it comes out in January that we should have uh a tournament between us and them and maybe geek bomb and and some other people and uh we'll stream stream it all on Twitch and uh you know the listeners from the various sources can all jump on and and watch us battle each other in a in a soccer game in car have you seen rocket League I have I haven't played it yet but I was looking forward to picking it up so I mean it sounds [ __ ] excellent it's basically yeah soccer but played in in trucks and cars and that is the most American thing I've ever heard you should watch some videos it looks fun as fun as hell haven't played

it obviously but I've watched a lot of videos you do uh you do a lot of stunts and and flips and you drive up the walls and and it's basically yeah trying to get this giant ball into these the goals and when you score a go goal the ball explodes and blows everybody across the back across the field it's very um it's very kinetic like it's it's it's cool it sounds amazing yeah so uh so hopefully that's going to be happening uh in January sometime we'll let you know uh when you can check that out we'll be yeah I guess we'll we'll we'll be on our twitch they'll be on their twitch and uh and we'll make it happen just don't make it happen between the 22nd and the 28th of January where I'll be in Park City Utah with uh the tail ch all right it out out yeah thanks again

Luke clearly neither to why do they only have FM in New South Wales no no no FM is sort of local so like something like Triple J which is a national radio station but they're on different FMS in everywhere right oh right so as you travel at the FM frequency changes FM stands for frequency modulation I know the science behind it but I know nothing about the politics so so I think two is just a a local Sydney radio station but it does stream on the internet so if you're Sydney you can still listen in damn right and you should and they have a podcast so you can catch yeah they do yeah check out big head mode and they also do uh they do bonus stage which is the the show that we often mention and have uh have given away tickets to before and hopefully will again so yeah

old that's the short version then yeah that one's that one's bad actually thank Lord so do we want to talk about Carrie Fisher do we want to talk about Mark Hamill lotar Ford we got Harris Ford as well or do we just talk about women in general we got the trifecta no I don't think we should be talking about Luke that's a bit sexist so no um Matt well we can start with actually uh I I saw this article this Carrie Fisher one and it made me laugh a lot because I she's [ __ ] great yeah Carrie is great and this is her responding to the slave layer being discontinued right yeah yeah she said uh quote that's stupid so yeah Disney came out and said that they're not going to uh or someone from Disney uh J Scott C M Mouse I think

is the spokesperson yeah he works for Marvel right okay all right well he said that Disney is going to be discontinuing production and sale of Star Wars merchandise uh basically anything that contains layer wearing the slave outfit in Return of the Jedi the metal bikini um not with it Matt I know have no idea what you're talking about yeah yeah I like he says it's well on its way to wiping out the slave outfit from any future product perod and I'm pretty sure the past then you've you've wiped out over the absolutely so I read that I read that as whipped it out and I was going to say I can absolutely yeah so he says you'll not see any future merchandising featuring the slave outfit ever again trust me and that's because somebody uh I'm not sure

if it was him or somebody else said that that as a father how are they going to explain it to their children there was there was a father who went public on I think Fox News with this di tribe about how his uh his daughter wanted to know why she was in the slave outfit and he didn't know what to tell her because he's an idiot right well he just watched this movie what does Carrie Fisher say he should tell her she says the father who flipped out about it what am I going to tell my kid about why she's in that outfit tell him that a giant slug captured me and forced me to wear the stupid outfit and then I killed him because I didn't like it and then I took it off backstage yep absolutely H she's great yeah I mean you know like like it's a it's a provocative

and uh exploitive outfit that's kind of a point yeah you guys seen that photo of her and her stunt double in the slave layer outfit sunbathing of course I have D of course I have yeah she doesn't look like that anymore I mean no but they still made her lose weight for this movie they were like Carrie please please be in the force awakens and she said okay and they went now please please lose wait so you look a bit better she wasn't very happy about that so did Mark Hamill yeah Mark Hamill's looking good he is but he was a fat B and they were like dude get into shape and he was like yeah and he did people were saying oh I can't believe that you came back to do princess ler again and she said I've been this character for 40 years why wouldn't I cuz I'm not going

to be associated with Princess Leia anymore there is no more and I'm a female working a show business where if you're famous you have a career till you're 45 maybe maybe and that's about 15 people yep absolutely I love how jaded she is she's a a bitter bitter woman her panel Supernova was the best panel I've ever seen so good absolutely well look while we're talking about articles about carry Fisher I think it's it's only it's only fitting to go straight onto the the hell is that what just happened I think one of your windows is starting to play an ad I've got literally nothing open except for the I'm pretty sure it's me sorry that was me that I didn't even have that tab open

sorry active it was just in the background and it just randomly decided to start playing the gods of Egypt trailer I apologize we'll get to that Matt we will get to that that was terrifying while we're talking about carye Fisher know I thought you were playing the carry Fisher news or something yeah I thought they you jigle oh sorry about that so um somebody on the internet God bless people with too much time on their hands has calculated that in the 386 combined minutes taken up by the running time of the original Star Wars Trilogy only 63 seconds of those are dialogue by women not including Princess Leah right so uh he's done a super cut back to back and yeah it goes for goes for 1 minute and 3 seconds

three movies now I understand that's not a lot but Luke's going up to bat for this okay MH but if we actually look at even the male cast who aren't Vader luk the main stuff are we talking much more 1 minute and 3 seconds I over the three movies where it's got to be a lot more than that but I don't think it's going to be like half an hour or anything T alone has more than that yeah they're not heavy dialogue films I see where you're coming from Luke a lot of the lot of the movie a lot of each of them is action but I mean I minute it's still ridiculous there's a lot of men doing stuff in them but I find this hilarious and you know why because a couple of weeks ago we reported on this podcast that the internet has gone [ __ ] crazy

because a woman is one of the lead roles now yeah right so basically Star Wars doesn't put any women in they get [ __ ] Star Wars does put a woman in they get [ __ ] yeah but they get [ __ ] from [ __ ] yeah either way I got to say the more I I mean I've watched uh a few behind the scenes lately and and the more I watch the more I really really love like all of the new cast members from the new film like just watching how excited they each are individually and watching them talk about it and stuff like that watch the trailer yeah I just I'm really really happy for them you know a little bit jealous if I'm honest insanely jealous yeah but uh but yeah all of them seem really great like every time I watch an interview with um John Boer or um Daisy Ridley I'm like you're

great like I'm so glad that you in Star Wars don't [ __ ] it up yeah that's right I was like that with the Lord of the Rings cast oh yeah like when I would watch the behind the scenes I was like [ __ ] you guys for being able to have that much fun that interview where domic Monahan that Dominic Monahan pretends to be the German interviewer we to it in the show notes and he interviews would it is so funny those guys must have had a lot of fun yeah they were a product of a time when I guess there weren't as many women in in films like I guess that's the that's the facts of it really well yeah like even if you look at there's probably more screen time in the trailers for the new movie yeah for women that there was in yeah yeah well there's this thing that they have in

Hollywood called the Beck test have you guys heard of this no it's how to tell whether your movie sexist or not right and it's three questions question one is there more than one woman in your movie question two do those two women talk to each other and question three do though talk to each other not about the main character man right if you can answer yes to all three of those your movie isn't sexist the original Star Wars films came out you know a long time ago and unfortunately yeah a galaxy far far away there weren't a whole lot of roles for women and that that that's not on but now we've got Daisy Ridley in there we've got Carrie fish's back we've got there any other women in the film blanket now got Daisy Ridley oh

it's going to be great maybe bb8 is a she's great hopefully they two they talk to each other she's going to talk to another womaned how great it is that both of them are strong independent women with great careers there'll just be a break in the action and they'll just chat about that for you look I know this isn't Star Wars news and already hinted at this a little bit but while we're talking about getting in trouble for having too many women or not enough women or um Star Wars has also been in trouble the force awakens having too many blacks in it right yeah one one one is too many for some people apparent and I think there's been one in all of them so far right yeah I know some people are a little bit shitty like I still don't understand

that yeah I know we had Billy D Williams and the ones he's not in have mace wind you know why it's because because these these [ __ ] morons grew up with Billy D Williams in the film so they didn't even notice they realize he was black yeah exactly right yeah that's right it's it's Lando the opposite is also true you can get in trouble for only having whites in your movie like like Alex PR did uh this week when he had to publicly apologize for his new movie gods of Egypt because he cast uh Nikolai cost Costa waldow and Gerald Butler as Egyptians and the internet went yeah can't do that I I didn't even think about it when I saw I watched this trailer by the way have you seen the trailer for this oh it looks like a [ __ ] abysmal it's so and

I know so many people who worked on this movie I used to really enjoy Alex PR oh man absolutely dark city is one of my favorite films ever yeah ever The Crow and the crow is magnificent I really I really like iroot yeah didn't bother seeing the knowing though no I I don't know about the knowing but I mean the internet is crucifying him right now yeah and not only that the trailer looks terrible anyway so it's kind of uh but lion gate itself had to come out and issue a press statement ligate is deeply committed to making films that reflect the diversity of our audiences we have can and will continue to do better so they're all backpedaling but the funny thing is is our old mate riddle so Ridley of Scott has also an Egyptian

movie coming out soon yeah that also Stars a bunch of white people and he will not apologize in fact he has issued this statement I can't mount a film of this budget and say the lead actor is Mohammad so and so from such and such I'm just not going to get it financed so the question just doesn't come up so take political correct though the thing about Ridley Scott is he's right he's always right of course he's never been wrong you can't call him on it he's a he's a dick but he's correct like yeah Fair Point yeah the thing is that it's all how you respond because pryers came out and let's see what prer said the process of casting a movie has many complicated variables but but it's clear that our casting choices

should have been more diverse I since cely apologize to those who were offended so there's that and everyone's like yeah you're weak as Pierce and then there's riddles who comes out and goes [ __ ] off I've made over 2,000 films yeah if they're not famous they won't give me money [ __ ] off yeah you show me the famous Egyptian actors and I'll put them in my [ __ ] movie I'm sure there are famous Egyptian actors but not like we're not we're talking Hollywood like it's a Hollywood film Matt I'm not even certain there's famous Egyptian actors in Egypt do you know the only person I can think of is any role like this yeah is Ben Kingsley it's always Ben Kingsley they just slap slap some makeup on him and he he's like and he becomes whatever yeah he's a he's a race chameleon that's

for a Islamic TV station that commissioned my company to do five commercials for right all right and uh there were a lot of problems a lot of problems uh for example I mean the biggest problem with one of them we had cast um a person that the the people from the company themselves had asked for right and they'd sent a representative to be on set too to pick us up on things that we were getting wrong with the Islamic kind of stuff cuz [ __ ] if I know right yeah um but this dude was clean shaven right right right right and then when they watched it back they were like where's his beard and I was like dude you you provided this active for us he didn't have a he didn't notice he didn't notice he didn't have one and they said to us

well can you CGI a beard onto every frame oh [ __ ] hell and we said yes but it'll look terrible yeah that's what we said we said it would take three solid weeks and it will look ridiculous but one of the kind of more minor um incidents we had on set with the representative from the Islamic Channel who pointed out that some of our cast who actually were Muslims weren't dark enough to look like Muslim it's like that whole thing like Muslims don't look like Muslims on screen right and insisted that we blackface them now I'm not talking like [ __ ] show Minstrel Black Pete yeah not zad pit thankfully

but yeah but like dark brown makeup on let's say at best medium brown people right looked ridiculous and I felt really stupid doing it that is weird but I mean you got to do what you got to do I guess yeah and you know what on TV everyone wears makeup that's true that's true got to look a bit more TV a little bit more Muslim yeah you know I had to had to wear black face for the uh for the tail job obviously yeah that's right I mean I try to put one black face character in everything I do yeah yeah so I mean gods of Egypt uh it's it's [ __ ] anyway so it doesn't really matter but it's also

copying a lot of criticism for not being very diverse it looks awful what's the Ridley Scott one called uh is it the one with Christian Bale or has he done another one yeah no think of I think Christian Moses or something gods of Egypt gods of Egypt no wait that's that's this one this one that's that's one yeah yeah gods of Egypt is that one what the [ __ ] is Ridley's Ridley one is called oh gods and Kings Exodus gods and Kings oh right yeah the Moses story yeah cuz that had bloody Joel Edon in it as a yeah that's right as Moses yeah no no sorry Ramy yeah is RAM and Christian Bale is Moses yeah when I think of Moses I think of Christian Bale yeah he's played Jesus as well didn't charlon hon play Moses in the old film you know hear people winging about that

that I mean back then uh I don't think anybody even thought to to winch yeah that's right we're doing better these days with that stuff but yeah I don't know this film looks shitty so really who cares they both look [ __ ] be honest yeah there's a reason that they had to get uh Gerard Butler in it to get money cuz looks terrible someone's just doing it for the paycheck yep we need a new promo for the show how much do you think the guy who does the movie trailer voiceovers gets paid uh I don't know thousands I assume yeah I think they're well paid thousands is a lot how much can we afford um $5 okay that's a discrepancy of thousands that's too many yeah maybe

we could ask a homeless guy to do it not after last time the shudio still smells Terri [Laughter] Studio wait a minute what if we could find someone who kind of sounds the same as the movie voiceover guy but only wants to be paid $5 where are you going to find people stupid enough to do voiceovers for $5 f.com what what where f.com the place where we got our intro for the show honestly we have this conversation every time we need something done and you guys keep forgetting we've gotten quite a lot done through Fiverr oh yeah they have people who do logos jingles copyrighting photo retouching all sorts of stuff and it's all $5 oh fiver.com yeah I know I remember now I keep thinking I dreamt about it because only asking for $5 is ridiculous I mean who are these people

absolutely years whereas in this everything's a little a car from 30 years ago still looks like a car yeah yeah this just look like a bit of an evolution of what was up there yeah cuz when you look at some of the vehicles in in in the prequels and then you look at the vehicles in you know like the Millennium Falcon the Millennium Falcon's supposed to be an old vehicle by the time of A New Hope but it looks nothing like the vehicles they had back that's right exactly you know in the prequels so I yeah and George came out and said oh no no no it's because civilization has crumbled so everything's [ __ ] it's like no no no it doesn't work like that old yeah it's an old vehicle like doesn't make any [ __ ] sense it's the equivalent of

Matt driving around in a datson 120 y right but what at the time the datson 120 y existed yeah and looked brand new yes they didn't go look we've got all these shiny cars and then oh I think it's gone to [ __ ] so we've just invented these [ __ ] cars [ __ ] looking cars and we'll just tell everyone they're old that now old mysteriously even though they're new like yeah it's weird yeah where with this it really looks like like they did a subtle evolution of of the stuff and yeah the storm troopers look great like they look really cool they look cooler than the clone troopers how do you think they're going to explain why at one point they were just cloning their best soldier a gazillion times and that was stupid so they their answer was oh we'll just recruit then

we'll just get people well here is here's the thing I've never actually been able to stand e they didn't recruit their best soldier they recruited a criminal and cloned him for no good reason just him yeah but I think um what I'm actually hope kind of hoping is JJ just sort of ignores yeah just doesn't continue anything on from them and just doesn't bring anything new up yeah cuz you know you can go a bit further than that Luke as well with what you said they didn't just clone the best soldier they just they didn't even just clone a criminal they conveniently cloned the father of a guy who just happens to be in one of the other films because that's all the

prequels are are like [ __ ] coincidental like direct tie-ins where like everybody in this whole universe knows each other and it's like it's ridiculous whereas hopefully with this like all of these people hopefully are new and they don't have to know each other they don't have to be related no no I mean there's some rumors going around that certain people are I hope that's not true personally because they don't have to be they shouldn't be yeah because one's black and one's white jesus touche touche so mark hamel's back and uh I love watching this this video of him because just when he starts talking he still sounds like Luke Skywalker I know he is still Luke Skywalker cuz he's he's a great voice actor and I've heard his

voice in stuff like as the Joker and that but he doesn't sound like Luke Skywalker in that stuff but when he just talks he does yeah so this is a video of him going out onto Hollywood Boulevard where you often see people dressed up like movie characters specifically Star Wars characters and he just interacts with people that have no idea who's Mark H yeah and it's amazing yeah and there's even an old woman who tells him that she's always had a crush on Mark Hamilton Mark Hamilton amazing yeah yeah it's pretty cool it's I like this stuff uh I do the one I like slightly more just because because he was still himself was the one with Anie where Anie went out as the Terminator and and did it but like I'm

not sure I've seen that there's one where Anie goes out and it's funny because some people are like holy [ __ ] like he looks exactly like Anie but I don't think anybody really wants to say are you really him because they just assume that it's not yeah that's and so yeah that one's quite funny because I mean I mean this one's good this are good anyway cuz it's Mark H in a stormtrooper outfit and then I noticed a lot of a lot of stars do this at ComiCon and stuff now they'll dress up true and then kind of go around which I love I think that stuff's great but the one with Arie was just especially funny to me because cuz he technically wasn't wearing a costume he was just wearing his outfit from Terminator and wandering around and everyone just assumes it's

someone dressed as him that's great well that's like famously Charlie Chaplain once entered a Charlie Chaplain lookalike contest and came third so good two people look more like Charlie Chaplain than he himself does fact yeah yeah yeah so this video is he shouldn't be able to win a look like competition he looks the same good point you can't look like your it's it's like when people try to rhyme the same word with itself and it's like no that doesn't rhyme that's the same word yeah once upon a time I had a very good time that's that's a I wrote yeah copyright yeah this was for charity or this was in in in in Aid of charity for

uh was it om om the charity organization they're doing a bunch of stuff for the force awakens uh and you can enter to win uh by donating to the charity you can enter to win tickets to the premere of uh of force awakens which you'll be transported to either Los Angeles or London uh I don't know if you actually have to be in in England or or the US Maybe but uh it's I remember this one being a worldwide thing yeah cool yeah so Star Wars force for change uh it's a it's a charity um campaign ends in 3 days so by the time you hear this the competition's ended listen sorry yeah don't it anyway it's well worthwhile and hopefully one of us will win absolutely are we going to enter yeah well you want to enter as multiple nerdgasm and we'll just say well we all

won so we're three plane tickets please yeah I mean pretty sure that's how it works yeah well we'll see how that happens and we got one more piece of Star Wars news which is not really Star Wars news but it's got Harrison Ford Harrison Ford news count Star Wars news even when it's about Indiana Jones that's right that's the rules that's right Harrison Ford has confirmed that he's up for doing another Indiana Jones movie this actually upsets me which he he yeah he himself said I'd love to see me do it before I turn 80 so would we no he doesn't want to do it he wants to see him self do it yeah I know yeah I'm how close to being that's how I am with a lot of my H well he's 70 72 I think 73 73 yeah

he's getting there I mean look I haven't seen him in the force awakens yet I'm hoping it's fine uh some people have have mentioned that some of the footage is a bit concerning cuz he's old man I'm concerned man that's the only thing about this that concerns me I'm happy with the weird ball Droid fine don't care yeah I just don't want I just don't want Crystal Skull yeah cuz I look I love Harrison Ford but Crystal Skull was awful and sadly mhm some of it was to do with the fact that he's he's old now and he can't he's not Indiana Jones anymore he can't do all that stuff that's why I was actually looking forward to remember there was rum going around that the next har Fall's going to be sort of they're going to recast and they're looking at

Pratt Chris Pratt yeah yeah thought that was would have been perfect but now they've come out Spielberg's come out and said not happening yeah that's right said Harrison is Indiana well he is literally of course but I mean not to be morbid but one day he's going to die and does that mean they're just going to say we make one more and then if he's alive we'll make another one and then that'll be it forever like I don't think that's they'll make more like the way things are going cuz you know what making more one day spiel will be dead that's true that's true or I I mean who owns the rights to Indiana Jones now anyway is it Disney Disney owns certain rights and

not others cuz I'll remind you that a certain somebody said there'd be no more Star Wars movies not that long ago that's true things can change so we'll see but yeah Harrison's up for uh for Indiana Jones 5 I don't know if I'm up for him doing it myself I don't think he cares I don't think he's enjoying acting anymore yeah I got that feeling years ago though yeah well there were a lot of stories about him being a grumpy [ __ ] on set especially with uh Josh hartnet trying to tell Josh Harnet how to act which you know maybe Josh Harnet needs to be told but you know he what movie was he in with Josh haret some cop buddy cop film and he uh yeah apparently was really really hard

on him his yeah why Josh H just decided [ __ ] it you are terrible [ __ ] you [ __ ] this guy no I don't know I don't know I I don't mind Josh Harnet I'm just saying maybe maybe nison Ford's a better I'm not even sure I've seen Josh haret in an entire movie I I've seen him in the first 10 minutes of Sin City and I think that's it have you seen 30 days a night oh yeah is he in that that was a pretty forgettable movie I loved the book and then the movie was a bit ordinary yeah had some good stuff in it but yeah I mean he's he's fine it's just anyway apparently they yeah they had a big disagreement on set yeah right so and uh but then on the other hand I see him in a lot of stuff now and he's he's being pretty funny like he's doing a lot of funny stuff

all yeah yeah yeah yeah he's making fun of himself more than he ever has that's for sure that's right yeah cuz I thought he had a reputation for being a bit of grump but is he still married to Ali MC uh I think so I think so yeah yeah kalista Flockhart what a name I know is that a stage name kalista Flockhart let's see I would say yes is it like big Zari no nothing stage name yeah if Luke ever does make it into a feature film of yours Dan can he be credited as big absolutely but I I've got to shoot you down guys kalista flockheart's birth name is kalista k Flockhart kalista out there you go that's a great name yeah no wonder she's a star but is she she's the real Ali mcdeal yeah but has she done anything else oh man she's a three

course Ali mcmeal oh stop it when what's happening I'm just telling you how Alie mcfield come on guys let's keep this Alie MC oh God know how to move on from that okay this I got I got two two articles here I can link together um uh Kickstarter save time are we no no no no no I'm just I'm looking at the list and I'm going oh I got to go segue for those so Kickstarter is a thing that we like on this like [ __ ] am I talking about um I'm following Matt all right good I give a lot of money to kickstarters yeah we we we talk about Kickstarter a bit uh there's been some pretty pretty famous Kickstarter failures that we've talked

about uh some successes uh you Kickstart a lot right Luke have you ever been stung by a Kickstarter um just one W but I got my money back so okay I got stung recently I'll talk about that in a minute but I didn't get stung as badly as as the people who backed uh this drone startup where this uh it was supposed to be a kind of uh you know drone like one of those flying um camera devices where you know supposed to shoot like high def video is going to be the smaller smallest um of its kind it's going to be this fancy fancy drone it's called the Nano drone I think uh and they raised um 3 and2 million in 2 months to make this thing uh and then after I think 12 months um out of nowhere they kind of shipped a couple of

prototypes to people and people were like this is this is [ __ ] um and then they released the financials for the year and said oh we're bankrupt so uh so yeah wow that's it we're done so yeah they uh basically just the money's gone and it looks like they've released financial information that kind of indicates it wasn't fraud they were just they just didn't know what they were doing I guess and it happens a lot yeah like uh they just bit off more than they could Cheo and the the funny thing about it is it's a and this is happening a lot more lately kickstarters kind of in this spot now where some people treat it as as kind of pre-order yeah where you you're buying a product but you're not really there's no guarantee you're going

to get the product right so you and and because but but also it's it's like investing right but it's not investing and so really you don't get any of the benefit of being an investor because you don't get any saying the company but also you didn't purchase Goods so you don't get any of the protections you know under of being a consumer because you didn't buy any goods and so a lot of people are now saying Kickstarter needs to sort their [ __ ] out because really whenever stuff like this happens the only people who get [ __ ] over are the customer well I can see here I'm just having to look at their actual Kickstarter campaign now they only wanted 125,000 right right so how the [ __ ] did they they did not manage to pull this off with three and a half million like

does sound like a lot they tried to build it and they couldn't build it for the price apparently or something could they have built something smaller oh I guess not they couldn't build it for three and a half million doar apparently not they couldn't they couldn't get to me when I do a lot of kickstarters I understand that I may not see this product right because and it actually says there like they will do everything in their power to do it deliver it but things happen and if they if if things happen and they've done everything I'd be okay with that I wouldn't be happy but I'd understand but for something like this like $35 million just go out and buy everyone a drone and send that off to him at least cuz it's I mean imagine you went on you

bought this drone cuz I don't these things w't that cheap I don't think so it'd be a couple hundred bucks maybe that you would have to pay to back this um see uh they were asking for £49 right for for one drone oh that's an early bird package so 15 it's not in expensive right no they were asking pound like a couple hundred pounds really for you to later find out that you're just not going to get it like sorry no we we couldn't do it like you get you get nothing like that's pretty it's pretty stinging now I I got I got burnt on one recently which was uh Kickstarter for some Bluetooth headphones called buds which the deal was supposed to be that you get these Bluetooth headphones and they could

charge off your phone right if the battery got low okay so and and it was iPhone as well right Android and iPhone and you would plug the cable into the bottom of your phone and then you would connect the headphones to the to the cable and it would charge the the headphones right it's pretty cool cool the headphones need Char pretty great Bluetooth headphones do yeah oh I see I see they're Wireless right and so basically they they can be converted from from Bluetooth headphones to wired headphones when required right pretty cool and so a lot of people were like that's great and and so we back the project because they've built them right they work and so I I backed it I bought a pair basically or you know y you know I didn't buy a pair I gave them the

money so that I would get a pair when they're ready and all that kind of stuff and then uh they were supposed to ship in November and then last month we all got all the backers got a message an email that said um they still coming we've had to go back and redesign the whole thing so you won't get them till next year and basically Apple rejected their request for a certification to put um made for iPhone on the box because we're not allowed to steal charge from the device so the long story short is they're now just normal Bluetooth headphones the don't charge off the phone anymore wow what why can they not just make them still charge but just don't have them made for iPhone that's what everyone's saying right fine if you're going to make retail ones yeah

don't do it don't don't make them charge but we send us the [ __ ] headphones we bought for you've got them they work like they're there you you put put in an envelope yeah I don't yeah exactly yeah just send them to me I don't give a [ __ ] [ __ ] tell me where they come and get them I'll pick them up but uh yeah no it's not happening and and so people people are pretty annoyed uh and I'm I'm like I am annoyed about it but I'm actually more annoyed about another thing that they've done that I don't know if everybody's even noticed someone pointed this out they've also changed the the the frequency response of the headphones they've reduced the range right so not only have they removed the charging functionality they've actually changed the specs to make the headphones a bit

[ __ ] like after the the the kickstarter is already finished and the reality of it is there's nothing you can do about it so is it this set of Android as well the Android will still be able to charge apparently on the go they just they're not going to have any iPhone cables and so people are asking questions I I think for them for the company uh it's it's in their best interests to keep apple happy so I do kind of understand but also it sucks because they [ __ ] got them just send me them they work like just give me the damn headphones look I when Kickstarter first came out I got pretty excited and I started backing a few things I backed people's short films and I backed products that I wanted and I backed games and then slowly I've

just slowly reverted back to the good oldfashioned when something is released if I want it I'll buy it depending on what it is now I think I'm I'm out on as far as Kickstarter goes I'm not I mean this wasn't a huge deal for me because I mean I'll use the headphones anyway and they weren't super expensive but still it's it's if I if I think about it like I'm not getting what I paid for I'm getting something different I could have gone down to Dick Smith and bought a pair of bluetooth headphones and I have I have them already and they' probably be a bit cheaper so it's frustrating well I tended to back uh Kickstart a lot of um board games mhm yeah and I haven't had an issue with them so far well that's a say for bet except the well the only problem with that is that you don't

know if the game's good no so but then you but you don't if you buy a game that you not played anyway right except if it's out and published you can read reviews that's true that's I never read reviews anyway I prefer to make up my own mind that leads me on to another article uh and into the game talk for this week because the game awards were this week okay I don't know if they've ever called them this before or if these are just new but they're called The Game Awards okay and uh they not only awarded a bunch of games you know various things for the year but they also made a few announcements and one of which was Psychonauts 2 which is the sequel to a game by Tim schaer who famously made Psychonauts obviously and

uh H what's the game what's the [ __ ] what's the game where you're a rock band uh bral Legend Brutal Legend Brutal Legend yeah Brutal Legend uh and Broken Age uh and Broken Age is one of the kickstarters that people got really annoyed about because they did a Kickstarter um requesting I think 500 Grand got 3 million uh and then have to do another Kickstarter for part two of the game because they've just didn't budget very well or something and so it was kind of you know it was one of the first cases of people getting annoyed about Kickstarter and so Psychonauts 2 has been announced and that's going to be crowdfunded too but it's on there double find's new crowdfunding platform called fig and instead of just being like

Kickstarter the way this works is you are actually an investor in the game okay so uh and they've got uh a bunch there's a page you can go to which tells you all you know the specifics of all the financials and stuff like that basically the way that it works is if you give them $500 if you invest $500 in the game M you get a profit share on the game so if they break even on sales like get you know break even on the cost you get your 500 bucks back okay wow and then if if they sell more you you get more money and uh based on their calculator if you so say you put in 500 bucks they break even you get 500 if they match the sales of the first game Psychonauts uh you'll actually get an extra 300 so You' get

800 bucks back oh so yeah so you're actually literally an investor in the in in the game which is pretty cool however there's still the a lot of people are still cautious about it just because this team in particular have kind of fell down on crowdfunding before right you know they've they've not they've been they've said they wanted this much money to do something and then they've had to come back and ask for more money later and then the stories from before they were doing crowdfunding where that happened a lot with with Publishers as well and so they they're asking for 3 3, 300,000 and I think from what I heard the reason why they've gone for this figure is because this is how much they made off their last Kickstarter right but then they have to ask for more money

so I don't know I mean I understand it's hard we did a Kickstarter and it's [ __ ] it's like you just the the money just disappears like after you you pay for CU Kickstarter takes a cut and then you got to pay for all the uh the rewards which we we balls that up um yeah here's a tip if you've got a Kickstarter don't make the rewards more money than you actually are raising yeah right you're running loss because here's this is the other thing too this is the balancing act you've got to do with the kickstarter right because people do kind of think of it like I'm pre-ordering the game but if you're going to charge 50 bucks for the game say as an example and you want to give them a t-shirt right and the t-shirt's going to cost 30 bucks that means you

only get 20 yeah that's right right so they're not giving you 50 bucks they're giving you 20 bucks like cuz you're giving them a shirt and so well and what we did we our margins weren't even as good as that we balls that up no they were not people just pretty much just brought shirts off us yeah yeah yeah and then we and then we made the video we made a video where we wore the shirts that was a good lesson for next time so yeah I think hopefully they've learned from that from their last last effort and uh and this will be all right but yeah it's definitely very interesting uh and it's it's more appealing the you know the uh the investor angle on it although I I don't know I'd probably want to lawyer to check it over just because I mean is that mean does that

mean I'm a business now like I don't know man am I going am I am I entering into a business agreement with with double F games if I back them on this thing it's interesting like yeah are people literally investors in a company I don't know I'm sure they've they must have figured all this [ __ ] out before they did this well you you'd hope so but if they're the first ones doing it though exactly yep we'll see anyway it'll be it be interesting to watch well I'm just going to pledge $10,000 we'll see what happens do you have do you have $10,000 no I do not all right uh we'll see we'll see how that pans out then um and there's some other news from the game awards uh Witcher 3-1 game of the year which uh I mean I didn't find that terribly surprising so well it is a little

surprising is it why we fall out four on the same year I don't think it's that surprising I'll be honest because which three is better look I'm enjoying Fallout 4 but uh I haven't heard as much praise for it as I've heard for Witcher 3 which have not played we'll do a wrap up of the Year episode later but I don't think anyone's going to be surprised by my pick best game not at all so are we all still playing Fallout or mad have you just moved on from it now I've been playing more Battlefront because I played a bit late last week cuz I knew I was going to talk about it on big head mode and um and you know it's kind of my go-to at the moment cuz it's bit of fun multiplayer uh I have played a little bit more Fallout but uh I did go back to

The Witcher okay um because cuz like I said I just want to get through the single player am I talking about there's only single player I just want to get through the main story line is what I'm trying to sayh before I before I commit fully into Fallout sure I don't want to split my time have you got the DLC for it yet for Witcher for Witcher no not I haven't got that far uh like I said I just I keep getting lost wandering around in the world doing stuff and then and then going I should play that game yeah exactly no but I mean that's what I'm saying it's so immersive like it just gets me every time I play it I go all right I'm just going to go and I'm just going to focus on the main story line and then someone's like fancy a game of gwent and I'm like [ __ ] yeah

love God I love gwent I'd love a game of gwent and then it's like oh you know what you know what I really need to upgrade this armor I'll go I'll go find some more schematics and then the next thing I know it's been like hours and hours and I haven't done any of the main story line no um I haven't played Witcher or Fallout 4 recently I just don't had time to sit down and devote to it so I've been playing a lot of pickup games like um just CL 3 mhm oh yeah mhm you can pick that up play around a little bit blow up some stuff and then just turn it off do theing do theing watch a watch a few bad movies yeah yeah I'm hoping to hoping to play that over Christmas I'm hoping to get a lot more in so I'll hope you I'll finish I'll finish both of them

over Christmas I found another bobble head yesterday I was really St yeah got three found one I think I've got two maybe I'm going to complete them all before I find the detective Jesus Christ I hope one of them's behind the detective one of them is the detective yeah it's somewhere in him and one other piece of news from the game awards was that uh hi Kima was not allowed to appear to collect his award for Metal Gear Solid 5 which is he's on vacation so [ __ ] awkward and weird that this is happening can you explain this to me well he is he's kind of the brains behind the Metal Gear Solid of Series right and but he's been let go I think well yeah he's had some kind of falling out with Konami yeah and and so big one he's he's on vacation at the moment

which basically because he's he's still on an employment contract for a few months basically and then they're letting him go but he's not allowed to do anything while he's under contract because he's like I mean he's going to he's be snapped up by somebody immediately like he's he's a he's already got stuff ready to go yeah he's a famous game developer like he's fine so I don't know what the [ __ ] happened but they're just being really weird about it and so yeah his his last game middle Gear Solid 5 which they didn't put his name on they kind of obfuscated the fact that it was his game uh to begin with and then now at the at the Video Game Awards or the game awards he was not allowed he was told by a lawyer that he could not appear there I think

probably because they were just scared he was going to get up and say something you know sounds about right yeah and uh and so H and I mean that would have been kind of awkward anyway I'm sure it would have come out but but Jeff key who hosted the Video Game Awards after um the game one best action Adventure game uh and Kea Sutherland who voiced one of the characters got up to accept the award the host Jeff key then came out and just announced and said look uh just so you know kajim wasn't allowed to be here cuz their lawyers said no and we think that's [ __ ] and then the crowd just all started booing and and and you know being like you know basically [ __ ] Konami this is all shitty it's just yeah pretty intense really and I don't think

uh Konami care cuz it's weird their whole audience which are in this room they're not making games for them anymore so weird they've decided to go casual games so games on your mobile and that's going to be what they're going to focus on so the really is that what it is yeah um those also something like cuz he was on contract so he just got paid so but he would spend he would just work and work and work on the game and he just as long as it takes I'll just work on it cuz he didn't have to worry about yeah time frames releases cuz he will still get getting paid yeah and so that's sort of part of the reason I think I've reckon he was sleeping with someone's

wife M okay a hell of a theory that's a that's a conclusion you I don't know it's just been so weird like they they stopped the new Silent Hills game yeah yeah which that's just pure money for them yeah that's true they did and they just got rid of that which is yeah so who knows what they're doing now well if if you were famous game developer Luke and you wanted to sleep with the boss's wife while the other brothers are CRI crimes how would you get away with it um I just basically go in and go look uh me and your wife we connected on a level um I think you should just be a gentleman and step aside and let us explore and see where this leads that's okay the fact that Luke came out with that quite detailed statement without even really thinking
