so should I just come straight out with a spoiler or should I ease into it you can list the people that died I guess that's uh that's a given should we warn people first this might be someone's first episode of the show and I don't want to scare them off welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy this is going to be a pretty heavy solo spoiler episode I think yeahhh because it it'll be two weeks our rule is two weeks two weeks since the movie's out mhm so and and look we want to give this a thorough review and in order to do that we're going to need to

talk about some things that you're going to probably count as spoilers so if you haven't if you haven't watched solo yet even if we tried not to luk could [ __ ] spurt something out anyway yeah so um pause and Peep you have there you go told you we might as well talk about Darth Maul we have to talk about Darth Maul all right so where do we start phant can I can I start by saying I have never watched an episode of uh the cartoon series so I just thought Darth Maul died when he died in the movies and so I immediately started going how [ __ ] old is Han Solo if he was 20 when Darth Vader was nine

yeah I've never seen Javy bird man hopefully this will do just a joke related to a jingle I've never seen an episode of uh I don't think I've seen Clone Wars or Rebels I haven't seen either watch a few of the Clone Wars Episodes they're good to have on in the background but I never got up to the part where Darth Maul comes back to life I tried to watch one when I was doing the uh come back to life technically he just never died he does he died I um he was cut it half and fell down a bottomless pit he's I'll stop you there mad I did see him get cut in half no I know I agree and I knew that he came back in the series because I had seen stuff about it online and thought well that's weird cuz he comes back with spider legs like metallic spider legs at the bottom and then at some point he gets

just that doesn't sound good that just sounds stupid and then later on he gets just robot normal legs which is what he has they already did Grievous who has many many robot arms and that should have been good but it wasn't it was [ __ ] apparently like I say the TV series is actually quite good he actually becomes an interesting character with a bunch of stuff going on and and people who are fans of that are actually somewhat excited that he might show up again so well fans of the show I I think a lot of people have a lot of in-depth charact work in that show Obi-Wan apparently has you know this whole romance and everything that we don't know about I tried to watch the series but it really is for kids yeah it's it's definitely not for us I watched the movie The Clone

Wars movie that they made and I was just like n no it was like the lead into the series and I just not not for me but I've heard that it's very good this the show and yeah and people online were saying cuz someone was like oh why the [ __ ] did you why the [ __ ] they bring back Darth Maul and someone was like because he looks cool he was a cool character in theory but then he was just done [ __ ] in the Phantom Menace so why not why not give him it was nice that they brought Ray Park back to do it yeah yes he looked uh a little bit worse for wear though yeah he's aged quite a bit I love the fact that they're like okay it's Darth Maul a lot of people might not know it's Darth Maul so let's have him just light up his lightsaber for no reason yeah even though Holograms are

always blue not this time this one's got some just as well this one can do red red yeah even though his face is not red I don't remember just been for the people who who didn't know it was South like I knew it was more the second I saw the legs yeah I knew I knew as soon as I him I was like legs cuz I was like what no because up until that I had really enjoyed everything in this film I still cannot believe look I I don't I don't I didn't dislike that it was unnecessary and I assume it's just sets up either a TV series or another film possibly the W film uh or possibly just a sequel to this but I don't know it was just came out of [ __ ] nowhere and just confused the

[ __ ] out of me yeah it didn't need to be there at all no I I feel like it unnecessary and it and it creates even more of this stupid everybody knows everybody I know because now it's like oh Darth Maul yeah you know him from a completely unrelated story well Hano whoes totallys himfriend and hang out yeah it doesn't make any sense it's it's they're in a giant [ __ ] Galaxy pres like that's what we've been led to believe but somehow yeah no they all know each other at least they weren't related this time because H should be a Nobody Until yeah A New Hope basically because he's talking himself up at the start he's like he's he's nobody

mhm and then yeah but no he already knows the Rebellion he already knows Darth Moore anyway we we jum a little bit ahead there all sorts of stuff that like really [ __ ] that around too like you know in the in the in the start of a new hope when somebody asked Luke's where he's from and he said if there's there's a furthest point from the center of the universe that's where I'm from or actually you have a huge cartel uh run by the Huts that's famous all over the gy everybody's been toing yeah so much [ __ ] happens there yeah most of the stuff that happens in the Star Wars happens on T yeah happened about 30 years ago read your history yeah silly look um I don't want to spend the entire episode talking

about solo um because I do want to get to the fish vagina but before we do uh now that we can be a little bit more specific um what did we like and dislike about it one thing I was the dice okay I felt like it was a little we beaten over the head with them a little bit towards the start and then they didn't really go anywhere exactly yeah but I didn't mind that because I kind of thought the whole thing was going to revolve around those dice because it been so much [ __ ] and then they're like no guess what it's got nothing to do with it he's just uh had him in his pocket yeah it's just sort of weird cuz he they make a point of at the beginning of the show he's steal beginning of the move he's stealing a hover car and he puts the

dice the thing it shows you the dice like a bunch of times and then cuz we're watching that scene at the start and it kept showing the dice and Jenna goes did you did you notice the dice Jesus look I wouldn't be surprised if Luke's theory is correct and that originally there was an extra scene at the start where Han was a kid stealing his first car and they were on the windshield of the first car and he kept them and now he always uses them for luck yeah cuz that that would be a thing not just cuz yeah he uses the dice twice and he hands her over to hers good luck then they're not mentioned to the very end where she hands back for luck and that's it y yeah I agree it just didn't really go it didn't warrant the the fuss that they made at the start and it's not like it

sound it's going to sound silly because it's not like they they weren't like talking about them and it's just that they showed them so much that you felt like they should be important close up I think it might have been that it started off that the first thing he stole might have even been something that his dad gave him yeah but then mention his dad later on then went ah but he's no one don't worry about it here's something that just his dad gave him dice but not a last name couldn't afford one yeah well dice then I guess here's something that popped into M though just now what if yeah you had not seen any other Star Wars films M you would need to be sort of introduced to the dice we know about them because we've been [ __ ] worried about the fact that he was going to use

them to win the Millennium Falcon for like two years but the thing maybe that's why we were so focused on them maybe that's why we were so focused on them early on yeah and maybe otherwise they were just like H people are going to wonder what the [ __ ] he's giving her for luck we should just show him a couple times maybe it's maybe it's just that they don't need to be in it at all if that's the case though no you're right sorry what am I doing I don't need to be reasonable about this it's fine they're not rais doesn't know what he's doing no being fous well speaking of Ron Howard we've all been assuming that Ron Howard came in to fix up solo because lloy and Miller had made it too wacky but uh La casden has come out now and said no no

no it's the total opposite they made it so [ __ ] dark that they were worried it wasn't going to fit in with the uh the light-hearted Star Wars movies that surrounded so that's why they brought in Ron Howard to family fire a little bit and I read an interview with Amelia Clark the other day and she said that uh she was that the actors were having a lot of trouble and then she said specifically she said that the the the previous directing team needed to stop just telling her that she was film Noir and give her some actual Direction because that's not Direction and then I was like the same interview yeah and then Ron Howard came in took everybody individually out for lunch talked with them about the character and she said it was just a completely different

experience like it was exactly I think possibly they focused on tone influence it just jumps a lot and I still Ron Howard is everywhere at the moment in my life because he's in Arrested Development season five so much that I'm just like he's he's in it yeah he's yeah he's in it in it this time yeah so I'm just [ __ ] I'm I'm on Ron how it overload Okay so what's one thing that Matt you liked or didn't like um I've got lots I [ __ ] loved the score and I've been listening to it a lot and I really feel like maybe that played a big part in my enjoyment of the film it's really good John Williams did one piece of music for it it's the the main theme Hans like The

Adventures of Han Solo he did that and John Powell did the rest but some of my favorite stuff is just the John Powell stuff is like you know the Marauders theme that weird choir [ __ ] it's so good and it's it just it's so star warsy in in other parts and then there's that sequence when they're in the doing the Kastle run sequence when they're in the the mo or whatever it is and it's the it's like a like a montage of all of the music that Han's been involved with that not except for the Han and Leia theme because that wouldn't make sense but it's got the [ __ ] asteroid field it's got the [ __ ] like it's just so good so I loved it I really I love that too in fact it was one of the few films

recently where the score stood out in that way that back in the 80s scores always tried to stand out yeah it I I loved it and I think maybe that's and I'm glad that it's a Star Wars film cuz otherwise you wouldn't get that kind of a score for a film like this yeah that's right absolutely I just love all the jokes about The [Laughter] Capes I did that did you see that little uh article about how George Lucas added that touch in the closet no and I I was watching for it and I was like you know what George is not you know George is he's still got something so there's that scene where Han is with Kira in the cape closet right and she's playing with the cape and they're talking and then she tries the cape on and then she goes to

start trying to put it back on the hanger and put it back up right and originally they shoo in the scene and she puts it on the hanger she puts it back up and George Lucas goes Han wouldn't wouldn't let her be distracted like that he would just grab the cape and throw it on the ground and and then when you watch the scene she goes to put it back on the hanger and he he just grabs it and and then's like no like kind of pay attention to me and then just puts wow that is that's a nice touch yeah George has still got it he does and he doesn't I know being a little phys he he half understands his own characters yeah but I was like you know what that's that was a nice touch yeah all right for a man who says yeah back to me

mhm yep let's get through this laundry list of Lukes yeah yeah you just rattled it down and we'll tell you why you're incorrect yeah shucker was going to eat hard no he wasn't no they just thought that he was because he was a big beast and they didn't understand no they made a point say they were going to feed it to him to him and then he also hadn't eaten for three days they said throw him in with the Beast I don't think any I you I might be wrong about this but I don't think there was any implication that he was eating anybody cuz I actually didn't even think of that until you said it and when you say when you say a dog hasn't eaten for 3 days you know it's it's so that they're mean not so that they eat you no no they mean and then they eat

you yeah I look I don't know but I don't think I mean also we know that he rips people's arms off like is it if he's desperate for food what's the problem like I thought he was going to rip someone's arms off playing chess I thought that's what they were going to put in so that it may that in a new hope he's being very very specific he did rip someone's arm off in the elevator he ripped a guy's arm off yeah but not not not playing chess oh playing chess right yeah or you know what you guys probably know what that [ __ ] game's called it's probably got its own name oh iess yeah that's what I've always called it h chess battle chess remember battle chess that was a great remember starw Wars battle chest oh God yeah of course I just love battle chess yeah battle

chess was great yeah look I don't I don't know that he was eating them I don't know that that was implied I just really got that feeling that yeah he was they basically had chewbaca there to eat people why else was he there essentially your problem is that Chewbacca would eat a human being but not a por well yeah well it's not that he's he's not eating bad people as such he's eating like people who are going I don't want to fight this war anymore and I'm deserting yeah but he doesn't necessarily know that he just got locked in he's not taking his side I do question what the [ __ ] he was doing there like yeah they weren't on casik why is he there no they weren't I forget what planet there on wasn't Kik yeah but I think he must have just he

must have been a traveler or a prisoner of war or something and ended up just in the crossfire and then they saw him and assumed he was like a a hideous beast and figured they could use him as a torture device captured him and put him in a hole and then um Han can actually speak wook yeah I was going to say on that like it was a way of them having a conversation that the guards couldn't hear so I get it but it was I was like oh God no no no but do never do that again Han can clearly speak wook he talks to chewbaca all the time yeah so I think this addressed the elephant in the room there's a difference between talking it and understanding it yeah but that's what I mean he can do both yeah but should he yeah no no no I agree I I I agree only

on the grounds that it was it sounds stupid yeah and it did but otherwise it makes perfect sense because they needed I laughed but I was like oh man Matt and Luke are going to hate this no no I didn't I didn't I didn't because I understand the point of it like he needed to talk to him so the guards couldn't hear and it's like well that's a bit [ __ ] but fine and also it establishes the fact that yeah he he does no wook because they never out say it he just he's the only one who understands him kind of thing MH yeah that's right I also what I didn't understand cuz basically Han ended up in that predicament cuz Becket said dis gu theorder take him away yeah so Becket was trying to get rid of him Han still wanted to go back to him after

that yeah cuz he knew it was the only way off yeah yeah but he just nearly had him killed yeah and yet still his best option people people behave that way I think I think people I think that's uh I don't think that's unrealistic like he he wanted to get out of the uh of the military presumably cuz he wanted to be a pilot they kicked him out oh yeah apparently there's a deleted scene um that the casan show it yeah the casan uh uh have cameos in that scene because they said that they figured that was the scene they were least likely to cut because it explains some of the piloting stuff and then they cut it so there's a scene of of Han at the Imperial Academy doing Flight Training that's funny

because I actually thought it was a hilarious joke that he's like I'm going to be a pilot he's like are you sure man everyone ends up in the Infantry he's like yeah I'm sure I'm going to be a [ __ ] P to him in the Infantry like it was great maybe that's why they edited it that way in the end but then yeah yeah then how do you learn to fly oh he just he just knows how to do everything he is the best at everything G that is that is one thing that happen I mean look it's a movie so whatever but he just they like he just is the best at everything and they just cut to the end so that you didn't have to figure out how that he did it like with the gambling it's like he just sits down and it's like cut to two he just is very good all right all right something I

liked about the movie then please go on Lando yeah y absolutely amazing yeah I um I did think it was odd well not odd I just like Donald Glover doing a Lando impression alen and Ron whatever his name is not doing a Han Solo impression just doing something a bit different yeah like I thought Donald Glover could have gotten away with doing Lando a bit different if he wanted to yeah because it wasn't it wasn't a an impersonation movie yeah but I guess maybe he just didn't want to but and he did a great job I just yeah that's just I want a standalone Lando movie you'll probably no I don't I don't

no I don't because Lando is the side character he's the best side character and not everyone needs their own movie no but you know what I found out you know how we talked a little while ago about Anthony in gruba who played young Han Solo in uh some shitty romcom called the age of Adeline and he he looks exactly like him and everyone was like well why didn't he play him apparently he did audition um and while he can do a good impersonation of Harrison um he aged a bit he just couldn't no it was just more that he couldn't nail the comedy I think right you know he just he looks like him and he sounds like him but he's not necessarily a better actor than yeah because I'll say like yeah he doesn't he's not doing an impression of Han Solo but I [ __ ] liked him in in

Solo alen [ __ ] I lik him too yeah I thought he was good I like that one one of my favorite Mo like I actually genuinely laughed when you know the the Marauders are there at the end and he goes he's like on that ship we've got 20 armed soldiers and then takes off like I thought that was all really good yeah like I forgot that he wasn't Han Solo and he just kind of became Han Solo you know what I mean yeah yeah oh just han han no friends Han Solo that scene was dumb I didn't need that you know that's the scene apparently that got this whole film green lit yeah I read that they loved that they like solo is not even his name he just got on a Plane by himself yeah and that's how they wrote him in the ship's log and then they were like yep make this movie

like I I didn't need that scene at all to be honest you know what I loved about that scene is the fact that not everyone in the Empire is fighting by Darth Vader's side some people are on shitty planets at train stations trying to sign up people that whole sequence bribe the the woman to get through the gate and everything like it added like a human aspect to the Empire that I liked yeah like yeah she'll take the bribe I did find it a little bit silly though that there's alert someone just snuck in and then they just let this guy join who doesn't have a last name I think no identification know someone's just broken past the barcode yeah but they I'm pretty sure they just told you take anyone who comes up

yeah um yeah I like that what I like about Star Wars now as opposed to Star Wars then I.E in the 80s is that Stormtroopers and Imperials and everyone are real people now yeah they don't just you know like in in A New Hope the only any time uh that storm tropers do anything against what you think they're going to do is Jedi mind trick right whereas in um the fort awakens when [ __ ] Carlo Ren's going ape [ __ ] with his lightsaber and there was those two that just decide not to go down that path like I was like yes they are human beings not just about a brother and sister what else you got on that list Luke um the vampires I don't think they were vampires but fair

enough were vampires who you talking what makes you think they were vampires they didn't What whose blood did they suck well I didn't see them suck any blood but when hard gets captured and then he smashes the window oh yeah that photophobic worm yeah yeah I'm happy with an underground slug not being able to stand sunlight and then I actually thought that her second in command was the leader of the rebels chasing them for half the movie oh the Marauders not joking the Marauders yeah I actually thought that was yeah the guy from the start of the movie okay that's you know that's fair I I do recall they looked similar and I thought at the beginning that was that character but then I kind of forgot yeah I get what you mean similar cuz it sort of had

the same sort of helmet and then it did look a little bit different but it was also like 3 years later and I'm thinking yeah it's just changed a bit so yeah they're still and then I found out no it wasn't H that confused me a little bit what did you think of the train H why they made that so similar um you know what it reminded me of firefly oh yeah yeah I can see that that's that's fair I wonder why the Empire needs to transport things on a train um when they have quite a lot of spaceships but also I thought it was odd I thought about it later and I was like H like later on it does make a bit more sense but at the time within the context of that scene I thought it was it was really weird that Tandy Newton [ __ ] sacrificed herself for some

money not for her for Becket like she sacrifices her life so that he can make money off the the fuel but then I guess later on you find it's not just making money it's paying off his debts yeah yeah later on you find that out and I I was thinking oh okay yeah it does make a bit more sense but yeah but with but when you're watching the scene I was like wait what the [ __ ] is she doing like that doesn't make any sense their little offsider the dude with the forearms is my new favorite character and I'm that's John favro I know I know um okay one more thing all right and then I'll leave it hyper fuel about it it's not called that in the film they only say that in the intro I know but just having that in the intro just made me put my head in my hands in

yeah but the intros are always bad it's to explain to the audience what it is when they say a [ __ ] whatever it's called oxycodone or whatever they call it in the film oxycodone it's called Ox something isn't it no I know what I know that I couldn't remember the name of it in the film it's called o something I'm trying to remember myself I thought I start with G somehow um maybe anyway it's it's yeah it's just to explain to the audience what it is yeah it was dumb but like it it's it's one word that explains it hyper fuel it's the fuel they use to for the hyperdrives like if if you were wondering that's what it is that's what it is yeah I wasn't wondering it's because you didn't know about it they

will make a sequel well that is a good question left it open for one yeah except it has not done well at the box office well not as well as it anticipated it it's not like I mean it's the lowest rating Star Wars movie ever but I mean don't forget it's still [ __ ] kicking it yeah exactly it's it's doing fine but not Gang Busters yeah it's already made its money back so they they're they're fine there but I hope they do I would like to see more I I enjoyed this so much more than the Last Jedi if they do make the sequel is it's going to be have ma Darth Maul that's how it sort of ended introducing him I know and it was almost the first Star Wars movie that didn't have a lightsaber in it and I could have that would have been all right with me I

could have I could have accepted that and been happy but yeah you're right they'll probably yeah well in the next one we're going to see how he meets Jaa The Heart if they make it if they make it it's already they already set it up that's what's that's what's happening yeah he's off to the Huts oh Paul betney was good in this but as well oh man Paul betney was as good a villain um as Peter Cushing right yeah cuz he was a real character he wasn't just a [ __ ] like uh you know I'm just an evil man he he was like had stuff going on yeah good yeah they probably will make a sequel I hope they do and I hope it

doesn't have Darth Maul in it uh or Kira to be honest I could do without her being in it again um yeah we don't I mean not that he can still have like love interests I just don't more Indiana Jones style than than just a recurring love interest cuz he meets Leia later I didn't mind her but I actually would have been happier if she had have died I just feel like it's that sounds mean a thing to say I don't need Han Solo to have a love interest the love of his life who then just doesn't get mentioned again later like she needs to not be too involved from now on otherwise it's going to be weird I want them to edit scenes into um Return of the Jedi where um he's thinking about's getting like [ __ ] jealous and she's like [ __ ] thinking of Kira again

aren't you he's like no I should never have even told you about her this going to add IM she was all right in this she's just all right in general yeah she's just all right yeah yeah she's fine I thought she was I thought she was good in it I wouldn't say good she was fine enjoyed her I enjoyed her in it oh I enjoyed her I thought I actually did think that the um the becket's team like tny Newton and and John favro character all they were all really good actually I'm I'm yeah agreed like I did think it would have been good with more of them but you know I get the plot requ I also enjoy the fact that they um they introduce characters just to be killed I mean it's a war it's the Star Wars good point I might like it when I see it a second time I haven't seen it a second

time yet that's just not how I feel about Last Jedi look even though I've gone back and watched last Jedi again and have enjoyed it far more than I did the first time around I still enjoyed solo so much more I just as I've said before just give me my movie with bothans dying and I'll be happy got to murder some bothans in a film and looks look good to go don't don't I don't want a Boba Fett I don't want an Obi-Wan movie no no the Bob Fett want to be [ __ ] as well they don't need like no they don't need it that's the thing about this film that I I I enjoyed the film quite a lot but it could also just not have been about Han Solo it could have been about anybody

else like same plot anybody else and I still would have enjoyed it like it didn't yes I need Han solos the movie it turned out that it was good but it didn't need to be no actually I think because it was Han Solo is the what reason why I'm not liking it at the moment if it hadn't been anyone else I would have enjoyed it but this kind of this kind of film I want more of this this style of Star Wars film yeah but they don't know everybody needs to know everybody doesn't all we don't need to like [ __ ] Boba Fett is nobody he's a nobody character I don't need a film about him like no God he shouldn't have been in the prequels he should have just been in Empire and return the J and the Star Wars stop it you know how we

did discuss though uh whether or not they'll make him a New Zealander in uh if they do a stone film I realize they absolutely will because not only Boba Fett but all clone troopers have New Zealand Accents in the cartoon series oh yes they do yeah and it seems like they're keeping they're keeping to that Cannon so there you go although I wonder and then I mean this could just be a JJ ABS ISM but Ben FN 2187 like that's his name does it mean he's a clone cuz who the [ __ ] named somebody that no that was they basically took all those Storm Troopers children just raised them so they took away their name and just gave them designations okay so he just does he just never had a name cuz I was like even if he he had a name

but when he was taken from his children from his parents he was they never used it like so I'm saying is he must not know what it was otherwise he would just use it correct yeah he'd be like actually I used to be called Frank do you mind just call me Frank now exactly no but he doesn't know his name he never knew yeah okay fair enough a lot of people with no names and then a lot of people with names they really shouldn't have but we've talked about that yeah yep now honest to God if I'd never seen a Star Wars movie I Didn't Know Who Han Solo was I still would have watched this movie and G [ __ ] yeah this is what movies are for yeah I enjoyed it a lot I don't know really hope that they maybe look at how Rogue one did and then look at this and then maybe focus more on

those Standalone that although at the end of the movie that did lead into a New Hope except for T and Darth Vader I did want to I want to say briefly that um the film has been criticized uh for being dark uh including by really some some some I guess film critics that I am a big fan of and I was like really cuz I thought it was beautiful like I thought it was really well shot oh man at the start I was like [ __ ] me I'm watching Star Wars and Blade Runner at the same time right I thought it was really well done and apparently it is very dark though like I guess so if you don't see it in a cinema with a good projector or if you or the you know the the teenager running the projector doesn't do his job

properly and sets the you know if it's not set up correctly it's very dark and apparently it looks like [ __ ] if it's not bright enough because it it is dark but it's well shot dark is but unless the projector is set up wrong in which case it doesn't look very good yeah but to me that's the whole IDE IDE of the move like he's coming from the slums then he's in a war that's yeah basically man that war footage was beautiful that's what exactly but then I've seen screenshots where people like adjusted brightness and they're like oh it looked like this and I'm like uh okay like that's just the projections [ __ ] like cuz yeah I thought it looked really good that's not really anybody in the film's fault no because you could say that if your projector is too low contrast

then like we've lost them now for this episode because I just I just checked I was going to say I just checked we've been talking for 40 minutes so if we could talk for another talk for another 10 15 minutes about solo this could be the solo episode yeah as opposed to now just talking about a bunch of news that people are probably not even going to make it to yeah oh sorry there is something else I want to talk about with solo and I was wrong I was wrong and I wasn't the Millennium Falcon is a funny shape because the Escape pod which actually doesn't make any sense because they discussed the Escape pods in A New Hope uh which I will I will follow up on that in a second but the design of the Escape pod actually extends the front it it's

not just in the little mandible things it extends the length of the front it comes yeah it comes out at the sides which I think played tricks on your eyes and making you think that the back was also longer well it just it just elongates the whole ship and so didn't notice any of that I didn't even notice it looked different no saw of it and it doesn't I couldn't figure out how a little block filling in that Gap made the whole ship longer it's cuz it's not it's like a t shape it goes in the block and then it it extends the front and then out yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah so I was wrong that that does make a mistake from the original trilogy because yep in a new saying that he added that life pod yeah whereas in a new hope they actually say that there were life pods

on there that had already J yeah which is why he needed to add more he added them because the built-in one had been jettison yeah that is a weird thing to miss though you think [ __ ] Lawrence kdan would know that like I know he didn't write the first one but he's clearly familiar with it yeah he's like I'm aware of Star Wars and it's sort of weird it really played no part in the movie making the ship looked that different remember that article that said John Williams has never seen a Star Wars film and I was like [ __ ] off like that's so [ __ ] composed with his eyes closed yeah I guess what that means is after he watched it several dozen times he never watched it again yes exactly several dozen like [ __ ] after he watched

it infinite times like put in the score to yeah you [ __ ] seen them we got anything else [ __ ] seen them I liked the Marauders a lot I like oh they'll definitely get a spin-off they'll definitely have a spin-off I didn't care for them what what exactly did you not like did I take any notes I don't know I just it's sort of weird cuz I felt like they were the Marauders felt like in that when they're in the movie that they were just in that on that planet and that's where they they lived and that was it but no they were trying to make out that they're from other planets and yeah I don't know I yeah they said that they they said they were like another team that's like

the really really early precursors to the the rebels right that's what they were imp they said oh hopefully they don't show up at the beginning of the train when they were camped out they said oh hopefully the Marauders don't show up and then it was like ah they don't know about it I'm I'm sure of it I thought that uh creature in the mo was going to piss me off off but that actually quite liked it in the end which one you know the the the big [ __ ] octopus thing that got sucked into the the black hole or the oh right I [ __ ] honest to God guys I'm going to have to watch this movie again there's so many things that I liked about it that I've literally forgotten about already the same oh [ __ ] sorry we haven't talked about L3

yes what are your thoughts is that a parody I can't tell what was going on with her like is she a parody of the kind of social justice you know social justice Warrior or is she like I think that's what it was or was she like yeah a serious attempt to bring in you know Droid rights to the Star Wars Universe I couldn't tell it was almost comical no I think it must it must have been sarcastic right yeah yeah well and also it was all just to Leading for a joke to make it where H the L Falcon computer came from yes to that line where it's all to lead into that for C3PO in The Empire Strikes Back I don't know where you're computer learn to communicate I did think it was odd all for that that Lando has this you know interesting relationship with the robot

they make a few jokes about it right but they clearly close right they're friends yeah if nothing else and he's so upset that she's going to die that he puts her in the Millennium Falcon yeah and then loses it to Han yeah yeah just basically just it's like he lost his best friend like yeah I love that she thinks they're in love though she thinks that was funny yeah I thought the tone of the comedy in this was way better than in Last Jedi sorry not to I'm to rag on Last Jedi any no we can rag on Last Jedi it deserves it yeah R away okay I thought the comedy in this was way better no I think this was more a comedy no I just think that there's a certain there's a certain tone that action movies need uh to not

be like I don't want to say too dark but like Indiana Jones is not a comedy but you laugh all the way through it you laugh when Indie comes face to face with that swordsman and shoots him with a gun you know but then Guardians of the Galaxy is is a comedy right but it works and I feel like this I'm glad this didn't go too far in that direction cuz I think that would have been a mistake is to just try and make Star Wars inter Guardians of the Galaxy which I was what I was I was worried they were going to do that um yeah but no they didn't do that and was good I think they found the right level yes yeah absolutely no it worked for me oh man that [ __ ] Star Destroyer in the mo that looks way yeah I like that Kastle I like the Kastle run is uh I guess explained and

it wasn't it wasn't as God awful as it could have been yes cuz I thought the Kastle run was basically going to be a pod race you know pod race Revisited so in theend Universe what the kle Run was was in the kle there was thing called the mo and they've kept that but all it was was just a series of black holes right but not that space fog that they had in the movie mhm and fog they sort of kept h they sort of kept to it where the reason why Han was able to yeah why it was a record is cuz he did it so in a shortest distance which is actually a record which is what people always used to make fun of I know look a lot of effort has gone into explaining that mistake in A New Hope and it's but it still doesn't make any sense even knowing that right so now we've seen

solo we know how he got through the Castle Run mhm obiwan or Luke whoever the [ __ ] Obi-Wan says is it a fast ship fast ship it made the Kastle Run in less than 12 Parx sorry I said is it fast yeah yeah not are you good at maneuvering it yeah see the reason why it was is well this was more clearer in the books was he was able to fly closer to the black holes to get a trajectory past them so yes he was faster okay oh and he did I mean he does inject the [ __ ] hyper fuel sorry Luke into the Falcon and zoom out so maybe that's what he meant but just it's it's still doesn't make sense cuz he's not yeah but also I reck they could have knocked at least another two that's because George

Lucas knows [ __ ] all about space travel no it was just a throwaway line in a film that nobody knew people were going to [ __ ] pick to death for [ __ ] 40 years yeah um nearly 50 years isn't it no 3 years older than us they think they're they're on set and then Harrison's like George do you think uh in 40 years time they're going to have to make a film to explain this mistake and George is like just F line faster and more intense I guarantee you no one on that set knew what a parake was no no because most [ __ ] people don't no I still don't so [ __ ] you and they were all CED out of their minds those were the days have you guys seen a film on Netflix called um a

stupid and futile gesture I've heard of it I've not seen it it's about the guys who uh started national ampon ah yes I've been meaning to watch it it's great it is very funny and it just shows how filmmakers in the late 70s early 80s did it like just [ __ ] throwing cocaine at each other basically you know right yeah but um uh yeah Will Forte plays Doug Kennedy the guy who started it all and uh but you've got um uh oh [ __ ] what's his name the guy from uh the soup oh John mcel John Mel Joel Mel plays Chevy Chase huh oh that's interesting yeah yeah yeah I've met Joel

Mel he's a nice guy have you he does seem like a nice guy where did you meet him he did before uh um Community when he he was doing the soup but he he did stand up and he came to Sydney and he did a show at what's what that little [ __ ] theater in no not even the one in um the one near Vic on the park that little venue oh yeah right what's it I forget it's called yeah and so yeah I went and saw him there and then he just came and hung out afterwards cuz he wasn't a huge celebrity so yeah that's insane wow he's a nice guy but you know like John Landis Ivan wman they're all characters in this film and uh it's pretty funny and you should watch itol I will actually if you love films from that era and cocaine and yeah if you love cocaine this is the movie

yeah that's just blown my mind so that my question is do you think he was in this film before Ron Howard's involvement or did they replace somebody with him wow or was that scene not in the film so many questions so you're thinking that maybe Ron just gets his like hideous Twisted dwarf of a brother involved in every film he does he's like look I'll come direct you I [ __ ] pull this Star Wars movie out of uh development hell well that's certainly what James gun does that is that is very true yeah yeah I haven't seen uh G gun in a lot of non James gun directed films no that's right he was he has all kinds of roles in James gun movies you wouldn't suspect yeah that's right no offense to Sean gun if he's listening he's not but
