Han Solo survives the end of solo straight to the spoilers spoilers welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy it does take a little bit attenion out of some of these films when you know like they're going to be fine when you know that they either all die as is the case in Rogue one or all survive is the case in this then again who knows what they're going to [Music] do but yeah it' be cool if like in the later movies they'd had an arm lost or something and you're going is this the part that's going to happen but they

don't they're all fine right Luke they didn't even explain why toio had a red arm they just took the red arm off yep they had so much disdain for JJ abrams's movie that they just [ __ ] ignored all the cool [ __ ] he set up I was going to say there's like a lot of stuff that was like oh there's a thing in the fil oh you know what forget about it never mind I hope I hope he brings it all back go I hope that episode 9 is called Star Wars Episode 9 the red D of snoke I did give away one spoiler in the new solar movie but that's the only spoiler for the entire episode yeah yeah okay then can I uh can I say

something else about it that is not a spoiler because I'm not going to get specific right sure the current Star Wars films and the prequels finally which is we didn't we actually say last episode that the new movies aren even like recognizing the prequel they're just sort of ignoring them well that's over now although in fact to understand why this particular reference is okay you also have to know enough about the Clone Wars cartoon series to not be confused so which I don't neither I in fact I was trying to do the maths in my head and uh and it's actually more of a reference to to rebels in the Clone Wars than it is to the prequel it's it's trying to be vague here so just so we don't spoil things but there is some some something shows

up that's that's from the from the rest of the Star Wars universe and they did that in Rogue one as well there were ships from uh Rebels I think in Rogue one so oh there whole characters there were whole characters for Rebels right okay I I've not seen it I just know that those ships that that shove the Star Destroyers from from that oh okay [ __ ] I can't remember that guy's name the guy with a lazy eye oh um what's his face Forest wh Forest Whit yeah yeah Forest Whit's character is a is a is a character from the cartoons yeah right okay like anyone like under 30 was sitting in there going oh yeah I know all of this stuff right okay I will ask the question Dan what did you think I'll start with Dan honest to God I [ __ ]

loved it and I'm not saying it's perfect and there's a whole list of [ __ ] that I could you know that I could criticize it for and it didn't matter because I had so much fun watching this it has this was as close to the fun of the original Star Wars movies than any of the newer ones uh like and it it shot all over the last Jedi okay like it's just you can't compare I watched this whole movie with a grin on my face the whole way through I loved it Matt what did you think I uh I I agree with the sentiment I didn't love it because I kept thinking this I could have just watched this and it not be Han like this kind of story is this is exactly what I wanted this kind of story where it's not the same [ __ ] except it is the same [ __ ] a little bit because it's Han so I think but but I

really really appreciated that we got to see some new stuff uh stuff going on elsewhere in the Star Wars universe and I thought yeah same it captured the feel of Star Wars in a way that the Last Jedi just didn't for me it like it felt like I was watching a Star Wars movie and finally Luke what did you think I thought it was a big pile of [ __ ] I had my head in my hands for the first half of the movie okay that explains your snap I really did not like it for listeners he just sent a snap a picture of the end credits with the word um under it which I was like well I don't know what he means I have a feeling when I watch it again I'm going to enjoy it I cuz you couldn't possibly hate it any more than you already do no I I also

think what it is cuz like I've I know the extended Universe the now Legends no you don't you don't you don't know nothing about nothing the Legends used to be cannon that used to be the story and I understand the story of Han Solo not I don't think you do buddy I can tell you the story of solo you watchie you just watched it and you've rejected it that is the story about Han I know but I'll get into more details next week but there's some stuff I just found ridiculous one thing I will say uh Donald Glover is Lando amazing mate great he's [ __ ] I thought they had dubbed him over with Billy D Williams's voice that first scene nailed it he's in where he's just he's just having a little chat with with a bunch of I'm not going to spoil any I don't want to say

anything but it just as soon as he started talking I was just like oh [ __ ] yes it's [ __ ] Lando they just he just nailed that role the smile the like the little facial expression everything the attitude he's [ __ ] tops but you can tell that Donald Glover is that kind of actor like he would have watched Billy D Williams's walk do you know I mean and made sure that he was walking the right way or standing the right way yeah so y everyone listening please get out go see it and then come back and listen yeah we don't have to go into into too much detail now and certainly not into spoilers but how did we feel about alen Aon Reich I mean we we certainly discussed him a lot before we'd seen the movie how did we think he

went I liked that he was not doing just an impression of Harrison Ford and I thought he was certainly wasn't I thought he was good he's great yeah like yeah I think he did a better job than anyone was expecting him to do probably coaches they got in well every athlete has a coach right you know it's like saying that like oh I won't watch a trombone player that had a trombone teacher he should have just been born knowing how to play the trombone well it's not just intrinsic to his being G I don't think there was anyone in it that I didn't like as I'll be honest there were a couple of criticisms that I had and actually a couple of them have to do with casting but we can get into that next week there are a few things that I wish that they

could do to give more nods to maybe the extended universe that could have easily fitted in why why would they they don't want to do that L that's the problem I know they don't want to but it's nice they're going out of their way to not nod to the extended Universe the old fed Bas grew up on that and they're just not even going to give gu guess what Luke guess what they don't give a [ __ ] cuz I was still giving them money I think the reason is you're not they're not the audience I'm sorry Luke but a lot of that stuff is a steaming pile of [ __ ] so I love it yeah come on come on I think I'm going to start reading all the books again it's not all Timothy Zan be honest

it's not and even some of Timothy Zan stuff is a bit zany so I think they just want to there were some other great authors out there Kevin J Anderson I'm not denying that I didn't say exactly I didn't say it was all steaming polish [ __ ] I said some of it was and and to make it easier I think they've just said you know what [ __ ] it we'll going to we're going to control the whole thing because obviously it's Disney and then you know like I look I haven't read them all but I know that there was that series of books with the mandalorians and everyone's upset about that because they've changed the way the mandalorians are now very very fundamentally yeah there was a whole series on um the 501 which was like one of the big Stormtrooper units and talking about how

they'll Mandalorian and they were dealing with like where they came from and trying to create their own personality and then Star Wars came along and George came went then now peaceful race and everyone's just gone what do you know I read an article this week and be glad this is the Han Solo story we got because we almost got Han Solo in Revenge of the Sith having been raised by Wookies during the battle on kashik oh God that would have been Cannon and we would never would have got this so just be thankful there'd be no escaping that it could have been worse what about H's cousin s solo doesn't exist I don't know what you're talking about no cousin mate I'll stop you there no wait that's a spoiler yeah it is we'll get into that next week

but you know what I was going to say yeah yeah yeah yeah that was actually it's a thing that I was like okay I was fine with it yeah that that was no there were a couple things otherwise we're going to get spoiler territory all right and I'm being good apart from the initial spoiler I gave at the start of the episode H lives well that's the that's the first SP I gave for um the force awakens Han's dead oh sure that's right in the spoiler episode next week are you just going to open with just rattling off anyone who died in Solo maybe you have to tune in and find out I think from now on that can be the one spoiler you're allowed Luke did Han Solo

die in the film we're [Laughter] discussing so so yeah so for every time it's going to be no except for the one movie that's already out okay and we've done that already did I ruin that for someone yeah someone got mad at us about Force awakens a listener I'm not going to say who it was but yes someone did get mad at us you know who you are oh yeah he does a long conversation about very that yeah um look we' got a policy now yep yeah two weeks we're working on it we're trying to we're trying to be betters we're trying to be better because well and to be fair he said he actually just had to stop listening to the show because he just he didn't have the time or incl inclination

to see the film but then excuse me but then he also couldn't listen to this because we were just throwing spoilers around but then again but if you don't have the inclination to watch a film why do you care if it's spoiled or not I mean we review we need to we need to talk about the details of the film but you're right we don't want to be spoiling it for anyone we don't want people to have to wait so we wait now two weeks we wait two we I don't actually care about spoilers at all no oh look honestly there's nothing that you could spoil in this movie necessarily that would change the way you perceived the movie you know a couple of nice little fun bits maybe but overall I am very interested to know what was cut because I feel there's a

lot of underlying story that was missing from this movie this final uh yeah I mean they said 70% of it was reshot my assumption is it was way more jokey yeah there are a couple of scenes that felt different in tone that I was like I wonder if this is the the Ron Howard verus the uh the other guys I also have a feeling that maybe the first 20 minutes of the movie was cut I just have a feeling that they maybe went back to even younger oh yeah M yeah no I I did wonder whether they were going to jump straight into uh Alden or whether they were going to go back even further so yeah you could be right that could have been the original plan and I have a reason why I'm thinking that and we'll discuss it next week so let's discuss something we can discuss well I wanted to say that this

is the second of the Star Wars stories we've received we've got Rogue one and solo and so far they're having a better record for me than they are with the main story line which is [ __ ] shocking to be honest yeah cuz I was like we don't need these other films we just want the main story line and now I'm like [ __ ] that yeah you're ruin the main story line now yeah and I'm now I'm I'm enjoying the the little Standalone with the with the episode 9 I think we might be in a better position to get a better movie because you don't have to worry about trying to fit in the original characters anymore and I think that's where they've struggled by trying to quick we still got K Fisher here she is look princess Le is still around just on a personal

level I like JJ abrs films better than I like Ryan Johnson's so that's probably going to be a factor as well why um Boba Fett movie is coming and it's got a writer and director they announced this week no James James Mangold writer and director of Logan which I've not seen yet log is great I really like Logan okay well he's doing it yep got no problem with that be a kiwi no is he yeah he's a kiwi he's not uh well he yeah depends if they keep it look I guess I guess what they've now proved with solo is that they are keeping consistent but then again you are not you're not you don't always have the same accent necessarily and he was a child in episode two so it doesn't mean he's you thinking he moved out of New Zealand at some point yeah maybe I'm

just saying that they really I mean not that there's no reason that they couldn't just have him be kiwi but there's no reason that he needs to be you know necessarily no I agree with you there Matt there's absolutely no reason he needs to be a [ __ ] kiwi but they even turned him into a kiwi in episode Empire shre back I'm not necessarily certain it matters whether he is or not so no I've got no problem with kiwis all right my problem is and it's something I need to come to terms with I still like the original Boba Fett the very quiet doesn't talk a lot the original Boba Fett the animated one from the Star Wars holiday special and you don't like you don't like I'm recasting people too so they're going to have to get him out of the retirement home and pop him back in

the well he was a cartoon first yeah that's true but then also in the extended Universe which I won't bring up anymore when he crawled out of the stac yeah well that's the thing they there's no they haven't decided Well there's been nothing said about whether this is going to be before he went into salak or after that's true well that's true I bet before cuz as far as I'm concerned he died say so yeah I've not seen any evidence to suggest he survived so oh yeah but they they they they brought one before yeah hating Christensen he was left for dead that's not even the first one that comes to my mind no oh and uh just while we're on Star Wars this t into Luke letting down our listeners um which is a topic that comes up often on this show but uh someone

wrote in a listener wrote in finally went and saw The Last Jedi I'm not going to name the listener just cuz I don't I can never tell whether it's okay to do that or not we've had times in the past some listeners really want to be named and other listeners have stopped being listeners and our friends because we've named them yeah people have gotten really mad at us just for mentioning them and which is fine it's fair enough just so we don't do it so if if you're listening and you know who you are um it's just that I don't know whether it's okay or not a listener wrote in and told us that they finally watched The Last Jedi cuz they had been avoiding it based on us saying that it was [ __ ] and and they really enjoyed it and uh and basically a little chat with them

about it and they said get over it mate said it was a good movie and this is why I always say go make your own opinion y yeah that's true in in fact Matt you've prefaced this segment by saying that Luke failed fans but actually Luke's Luke's review is always don't listen to me go and have a look for yourself now it's not the best way to review I'll give him that I give my opin but you can hardly blame Luke Luke's failure is unrelated to Star Wars in any way it's just it's just how this this listener came to contact as originally never fail Star Wars I just wanted to bring it up and just say that I haven't changed my opinion on the Last Jedi yet but I also haven't rewatched it but I don't want to re-watch it because I just don't I didn't like it I just had no desire to

rewat it memory of it sucking in your brain it just I just really didn't enjoy it so I but maybe no look I was where you were I was where you were too you know I [ __ ] hated it I hated it on the first watch it really was not what I was expecting and on the second watch I realized it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd made it out to be I'm not say you I think it might be I think it might be some you know Luke you you didn't like solo because it messes with something that you you kind of held dear about Star Wars yep I think the Last Jedi does that for me because it it makes some fundamental changes to how the force works and and the just the scale of of the Galaxy so you could forgive midians but you

can't force projection well to a degree yeah because I feel like nothing in the prequels was on that scale now it's kind of just like no I don't want it to be a [ __ ] anime movie you know yeah that's look I just don't want any more space iron that's all I want do write your own [ __ ] story with a force I actually don't really give a [ __ ] but just no more [ __ ] drinking milk and space ironing the milk was the thing he brought up he said get over the milk it was funny I was like look if you enjoyed that scene that's fine yeah it's just what I think you just need to learn to once you get past what's in your head I like as I said like I I probably will go back and watch solo and enjoy it but I have to let go

of my enjoyable history I've had for the last 30 years but but just prequels aside the the the one of the core things that I loved about Star Wars as a kid and and it always kind of stuck with me was just the kind of the Luke Vader kind of the Jedi being this kind of stoic like yes they have some abilities but they're not you know they can't like fly through space and they can't like they're not superheroes and then this the last year I just changed that quite a lot and to me more that got changed Way Way Back super Yoda changed that no you're right and I hated that at the time too and I don't watch those movies either so yeah uh but the reason that I failed this listener contacted the reason that Luke failed is because this listener

constitutionally obliged to put up with your [ __ ] I thought that was going to happen eventually yeah yep they've decided that President Trump is not allowed to block people on Twitter because uh it's because it's a public forum and he's he's got to [ __ ] list listen to what people are saying at him I understand a normal person can block somebody but the president has to allow people to have free speech I think what he'd be allowed to do he allow he allowed to mute people well see I don't know I don't even know how you would enforce this unless Twitter is actually going to have to take away his ability to to hide notifications or [ __ ] block I think where they're coming from with this is they're saying chump because he's the president and

this is a public forum he can't chump yeah pres chump because because he's he can't block people so because he's giving out official information so he can't block people from doing that but I think he might be able to mute people from contacting him is he is that official information he's giving out on Twitter doesn't doesn't always seem like it it's the president he saying [ __ ] yeah sure is official cuz I know that some people blocked him for like like um questioning him how he was doing on Father's Day and stuff and he [ __ ] blocks people left right in center from what I hear you know I watched uh I watched a great documentary on Trump on Netflix it's called Trump an American life and it's [ __ ] great to just see

his history and and it stops it's stops at the presidency um you just kind of saw how he got to where he is and uh it was both interesting and terrifying so I recommend it he's quite scary but he's good at what he does well is he well depends on what you mean by what he does by what what he says he does or what he does okay so just just to be clear the guy the guy that's okay with blackface is now saying that President Trump is pretty good at being think he's pretty good at keeping himself in the lifestyle he likes oh I agree with that yeah I agree with that surrounded by people in blackace I did not say that yeah but there are good people on both sides I can't imagine being someone as

uh I guess as big a celebrity As Trump is being on Twitter and not being able to block people that would be a [ __ ] nightmare I find Twitter to be a nightmare as it is just because I'm not not good at that social I'm just not I'm not good at being a [ __ ] human being with other human being post on Twitter all the time haven't logged into it in over a year do you yeah you post on Twitter yeah huh what do you post that I've got all the achievements in the game and sort of milestones for gamer score like I've now reached this thing I think my next one will be I've hit 500,000 gamer score H H I've just got the website that doesn't for me ah I see there you go but I'm guessing you guys aren't following me no I am I just uh just don't go on there so

I wouldn't see it I do every now and then I go oh I should use Twitter more and I go on and you'll notice there'll be like two days pardon me two days where I post some stuff on Twitter and then just six months of silence and then I'll be like maybe I could try being one of those people who uses Twitter no I don't even think about it dayto day I have to force myself to do it in which case the [ __ ] am I doing yeah I'm like that with uh Instagram cuz I prefer Instagram because it's Visual and it's creative Instagram but at the same time I'm constantly yeah I'm always on there too but I don't post very often uh and I'll post like like 10 things in a 3-day period and then nothing for months CU I say I want to I

want to post stuff on Instagram but then it's an effort like if I go away somewhere uh I'll post some stuff because I'm thinking I'm taking photos of things I'm like oh that's that's this is not just my boring life I think that's the difference is I don't think my life is interesting where other people clearly think their lives are interesting yeah look what I'm eating for dinner I will be posting exactly I will be posting stuff on the 10th of June yeah okay so can we please talk about this so we get we get a message the other day from Luke saying that in 2 weeks he'll be in America y it took about an hour I'll prepare the spare bedroom I'll get the spare bedroom ready took about an hour for us to ascertain

why and even then we heard that he's going to be at a press conference or that there's going to be a press conference for him we don't know and this is literally all we know okay so I've won a ticket to go to the Xbox press conference at E3 so Matt you've been to E3 but you didn't get to go conf he probably could have gotten you a [ __ ] pass to that if you wanted to go I when I got the ticket I've gone it be great I'll do it and then I've gone no I can't justify spending that type of money to go but then you won one and then it convinced you well no the money is in the tickets and airfare and accommodation and that's I just went screw it oh so they're paying for that no they are not I a't paying for that they just gave him the pass yeah I'm so

I'm saying I could have gotten you one of those I think well we don't know but now I'm going to the press conference fine fine fine it's all right okay so where is it Los Angeles right yes but I'm going there for two days I'm going to spend more time in the air flying than I'm going to be over there okay where are you staying don't know downtown have you booked anywhere no I started looking everything's quite expensive and already booked out in most places so I think waiting is not generally the way to combat expensive and already sold out I don't think things will get cheaper and less sold out the closer to the day I'm actually I can recommend some somewhere if you want Luke it's not too expensive and it's not too inconvenient if you want I do cuz

I'm going to be I'm going to book it all tomorrow all right I'll send you a link to somewhere excited a dream not just to get to go to E3 but to get to go to the actual press conference and I want it to be like the one when they announced the Xbox 360 where they go and everyone's going to get one I want that well I hope for your sake that they do actually announce something of Interest CU no's G to have to spend so long pretending he was really really interested in whatever they do El oh we got a remake of um [ __ ] fable two coming out and we've got uh I am really hoping though that they are announcing some good stuff cuz I think they're finally worked out what they're doing

wrong cuz they got hammered last year for not having enough exclusives and so last year it was we've got this exclusive and this exclusive and then everyone's gone no we mean good exclusives like they need like Microsoft they don't have a Gears of War or a Hal or anything coming out they need to get their own they need to get their own Naughty Dog yes that's what they need y they need like that that one developer a couple developers that make franchise and good games like the Uncharted series God of War like even the new Detroit game looks amazing they don't have that it does and then they brought out last year they brought out stuff about a a dwarf mining game and i' got no problem with that

[Laughter] so yeah so I will be there and I'll be able to experience it firsthand and then hopefully not be depressed I spent over $2,000 to go to it and didn't come visit me I'm not going to make it to that side of the country this time sorry no that's fair it is like adds like a lot more money yeah I understand it's fine a lot more money and a lot more time yeah yeah no no no it's fine but no I will be coming to see you soon oh I'm not coming to see you but we will be meeting up nice segue nice segue because yes yeah and in fact if you've unplayed the Star Wars news jingle replay it because uh we're still talk about Star Wars play it backwards then play it

forwards it's not the whole thing so remember cuz they finally announced that they're going to be opening the Star Wars what they've called it something now haven't they Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland in the Disney parks next year yes so it's going to be opening in summer uh at Disneyland which is the one in Los Angeles I believe and the one in Florida which is probably the one we will go to um is uh fall next year which is later in the year so you've got got over a year is what the Americans call Autumn right correct and americ AUM happens when we're having our spring so yes okay so should we do it next year or early 2020 well I was going to say that I mean how long is it going to take after it opens before it's any good or

is it going to open just [ __ ] balls out I'd like cuz I've always said I'd like to do it about 6 months after they open to get over that initial Rush well see I agree we could just [ __ ] except it's [ __ ] always like that there though like yeah true unless it's uh it's probably wisest to go you know when all the kids are at school yeah because that that's the least busy time except the problem with that here is they they stagger uh school holidays so that they can go to Disneyland let's do the second weekid starts yeah remember uh I'm sure a taxi driver told us this when we were down there Luke that they they drunk Disneyland is always busy because of the way yeah that's probably true because of the way they stagger the holidays or

something but yeah so they're finally opening the Star Wars hotel and land and everything and yeah we are going we're going to stay in the most expensive package they have we're going to throw money at them even more than usual all right so start saving is what you're saying well no actually I'll sell this house that I just bought yeah it actually need don't sell it just mortgage it me and Hannah went to Star Wars in uh Disneyland what was it Tokyo Hong Kong we stayed at the hotel got quite expensive package but when you take out the cost of like you don't have to travel there you will get to pay for accommodation anyway you don't have to travel anywhere cuz you're at the park yeah you get the you get food like it's all sort of A

lot's included actually wait food is included food in the Park yeah yeah they do so it actually sort of you're still paying a little bit extra but it's not a crazy amount extra also this Star Wars one has that experience thing where you get to be part of some crazy freaking Westworld style thing apparently they announced this week it's going to have some kind of storyline associated with this isn't just a oh look there's some Star War stuff this is going to be like full immersion I know and Luke's just going to be like no that's not what happened no not can no no that may happen a little bit yes next year start saving those pennies or whatever it is that you have in your country I think you guys probably all have dollars yeah we've all got dollars

and no pennies yeah I have pennies we don't we don't have the one cent and two cent pieces here anymore I know cuz you're [ __ ] sensible mhm I want to get rid of everything under a dollar mate get rid of your one1 and2 coins it's [ __ ] archaic what's the minimum what's the minimum what's the what's the smallest n in Singapore good question I think it's 5 cents I think they it's uh you know what I don't use coins and the last time I cashed in my coins jar I got $600 out of it uh cuz I just throw my coins in a [ __ ] jar yeah um but notes they do the $2 note which is very handy they do 510 and then 50 so there's no $20 bill here huh okay interesting yeah I just wish we'd get rid of yeah coins like and no one cares if something's

1999 no one cares just just stop no I don't care here in my head I'm already saying over there in America that's just ridiculous because and then oh yeah we want your tax as well then just tell me how much money I have to give you well you're paying taxes as well it's the but at least we don't have to do maths every time no no I went and bought a I bought a new fridge in a new stove yesterday and I thought I knew how much they were going to cost and then when he said the price at the end I was like what oh tax y all right yeah I don't know why I think I I do know why cuz over in America you're worried you want to know exactly how much tax you're paying yes so government screwing you over yeah yeah yeah yeah absolutely he y don't care that's going to cost me $20 there's

$20 you want to I've told people that and they're like oh that sounds very simple and easy to understand like yes it is it is very simple and also you don't have to tip anybody that's the other thing too if you go out for a meal the price on the menu is not even remotely what you're going to pay oh yeah because I found out that the hard way 17 or 20% man when I was at Sundance I had to wait out follow me out of the store and harass me cuz you didn't leave enough or any I didn't leave any to be fair because and and then I know people go people go oh that's stupid I'm not going to participate in it but that's literally like if you don't do that person doesn't get paid anything that's how much that's how they live they cuz they're getting $3 an hour they don't

get anything if they make minimum wage on tips if they make at least minimum wage on the tips they get nothing from the the employer that that's insane but they like it because this the the earning potential is greater I know I know a bunch of people who who work as you know like waitresses or work at bars and stuff like that they make pretty good money because everyone understands how it works and it kind of you know they they they get paid pretty well because people tip them like but then it sort of sucks for people who can't get tipped making minimum wage it does encourage better service too in a way like that aspect of it is not um you know consider that as well like if they don't if they

[ __ ] around then it's not in their best interest they get paid no matter what like ideally people would just do a good job anyway but Singapore should introduce tipping because service there was terrible oh man they have no concept of customer service here it's like if you want something bring it and the exact money up to me and that can be yours we went to a bar not friends when we were there the four of us there it was a pain to try and get a drink so and then we're sort of like we'd like to go or we'd like another drink and it's just trying to get anyone's attention to either give give us another drink or take out money was it was a struggle see I've had that happen here and it's like

oh mate you are not getting a tip and then but here's the thing like can you just not tip like this guy that uh that followed me outside and was like why the [ __ ] didn't you tip me what did I do wrong like what if what if I said oh I you took too long to bring me the meal so I didn't tip like would he have just G oh okay well that's fair enough then no well the thing is there is an expectation that at least uh I I don't want to say 10% cuz I feel like it's actually more than that now but there is an expectation that you'll at least tip something and that the amount of the tip is more of a you know is how you express your dissatisfaction but you should always give them at least but you can't tip nothing that's basically yeah that that that's my

understanding apparently I'm I'm I'm a good Tipper because I always feel like you know if you did a good job that's fine yeah I I I always found I was a good tip of when I was over there as well I think anyway I don't want to be seen as stingy so and also we kind of go to a lot of the same places so I'm like I don't want to also I sort of found like even when I was tipping what I thought was I think was quite generous sometimes the food and everything with drinks was still already quite cheap to begin with so yeah sort of worked out that's worth considering yes I'll be doing that in a couple of weeks going to go straight to recommend a good place to go eat if uh depend I what do you like to eat I can recommend a good place anyway yeah I know you

don't drink beer though do you no beer gives me really bad reflux all right was a good place I'm going to drink Long Island Ice teas the entire time I'm there cuz I found out that's how you drink in America a lot they don't well they don't it's not like in Australia where they charge by the alcohol content they charge by the drink and then again if you tip well oh mate those drinks they're going to keep coming and they're going to keep getting stronger y there's no uh rules about you know free po grape it's it's whatever they feel like putting in the glass that goes in the glass well sorry I should be I should clarify preferably the alcohol you ordered they can't just put whatever they want in there sounds like if you

pay them they'll put anything you want I can't believe I'm going to America again I can't believe I'm going to America again you'll probably go there today won't you man oh I did yeah you did you did go there today I want to nominate someone uh as geek of the week this week if that's all right sure yeah you can try okay let's hear it total Biscuit the cynical Brit John Bane has uhic Brit has died after a very long struggle with uh cancerous a he only sort of stopped working about a month ago and sort of announced that oh I know he was he was he was a [ __ ] fool as far as all that goes uh no doubt about it he yeah why was he he had uh well he had colon cancer I

believe colon AIDS and uh admitted that for a year and a half to two years he ignored very obvious symptoms because he was like no not dealing with that uh even though his his family has a history of it and um from from what he said he he made a statement probably a few weeks ago on Reddit saying this will probably be my last update um and he said basically that they had they told him that if he had come in when it first showed up they probably would have been all right well but uh I believe he actually did go into a mission and then it came back yes it spread to his liver unfortunately and uh yeah AIDS of the liver second it spread you're in trouble y so he was 33 and uh and I just

make I'm geek of the week just because uh to a certain degree around the time we we started this podcast uh they they he and and you know Jesse Cox and and Dodger we've discussed before uh they were big disc Dodger I'm not sure I've ever discussed Dodger with you I'm not sure I've ever heard you mention we've mentioned her a few times I'm being fous [ __ ] live with Matt and had to hear about coffee time every godamn day so well they were an inspiration kind of what we did I think in the beginning to a agree and Luke and I uh when we were at PAX East uh we went and saw them and uh you know so I just I don't know I was like oh that's a shame because I I think he definitely influenced uh me at least uh in the beginning of the show like I I didn't

stop you know stop watching the videos a while ago because I I kind of fell out of that kind of scene on YouTube didn't influence me at all fair enough well that's in that if if he if he influenced one out of three of us does that allow you to come allow him to have geek a week okay okay like it's not just because I don't like them that they don't get it or anything and I I had nothing against him or it kind of is Luke all right it is but I I think he's got it okay yeah you can play [Music] it even though I've seen nothing of what he's done condolences to his wife and child who uh who hope hopefully we'll be all right considering I don't think YouTubers have a very good uh retirement plan no probably not listen uh Luke I

don't want to challenge your decision here because you know I think if he can you know he can grab himself geek of the week he was in arguably a geek right um and he is dead yep uh but last week we found out that you don't allow anyone who's taken their own life to become geek of the week I mean we were shocked by this but I mean are very very rigid by that rule does knowing you've got cancer and literally doing nothing about it count as that or that's that's okay that's okay so okay so willingly not preventing your own he had if he had cuz he he ignored from what Matt was explaining because I don't know the full story but from what Matt was explaining he ignored things that may have hinted at that he may have had it he didn't know he had bleeding out of the anus

yeah he I think he almost certainly knew something serious was wrong there just living in denial well I think that that's probably exactly what he was doing yeah dying in denial yeah yeah I there something I I should have mentioned last week with the hole Yeah Yeah listeners if you are if you are bleeding from the heus go to a doctor please if you or even if you have like issues where you feel like things aren going so great talk to someone Luke this is going to sound like a really strange question but how did you know you had cancer uh felt like I had a pulled muscle went to hospital and they asked how long's it been swollen oh okay you can actually just watch the the documentary we have on

YouTube although yeah to be honest it doesn't go into a lot of detail with stuff like that U but no the doctor asked how long it's been swollen for uh they took a few xert rays and notic that there's a bit of a growth there but I was lucky enough to get it before it spread if I had a spread yeah I wouldn't have been around telling you this story right now well it certainly wasn't an overnight fix even then was it um I'm still I'm going for surgery in about five months for it still so just a bit of light entertainment for you what we do here on our podcast I saw Deadpool too I you guys already talked about it a bit uh I went and saw it uh I mostly just agree with everything that you said it was good yeah yeah it was fun was

perfect I thought I enjoyed the first one more even though I agree I I do think that there were parts of Deadpool 2 that were better Superior uh to Deadpool one but overall I think there was a little too much mugging in this and uh a little too much of the uh oh yeah they like the humor all right um let's just goers with that well that's why they lost the director did they yeah because the the original director wanted to change Deadpool to to a little bit and Ryan Reynolds was not we found what works we're sticking with it interesting and look don't get me wrong people are loving it loving it like so I think we're in the minority that most people seem to think this was even better than the first one but you do agree that the ending credits part is the funniest part

of the entire movie so good yes it was very funny but also I agree I think Dan I think you said the other week there was certain times when there was a joke and it was like [ __ ] is this joke still going like m like oh all right there was a couple of times where I was just like oh come on I'm not laughing anymore it's like an episode of Saturday Night Live that stopped being funny like five minutes ago like yeah come on yeah and it was funny it's just not funny anymore and then also some jokes you didn't need to explain that so explicitly like there's a joke uh and then there's a joke and then somebody literally goes that's from Basic Instinct yeah we know yeah that's why I was laughing got it yeah but like gez

you have to understand there's also a lot of people see watching that that would have no idea what that was yeah but they're not going to laugh at it just because you have identified the movie they true I don't understand said it they're not going to go oh [ __ ] bersing Instinct I get it I get it it's a movie I haven't seen oh very clever very clever I don't understand that at all just don't don't explain it if you have to explain it check whether you have to explain it to most people if you do just [ __ ] remove that joke cuz it obviously doesn't work like yeah or if you're happy having such layer jokes that there's ones in there that people definitely aren't going to get but some people will and it'll make you feel really good for getting it then keep

those in who cares Y and look I know what I'm talking about from my time spent in the Sydney comedy scene so yeah that's right I am a comedy expert if I do say so myself and you do I do so yeah go see go see Deadpool too I recommend it some good stuff in there yeah why not can't see it speaking of Disney and Marvel I'm going to be seeing a lot more Disney and Marvel stuff apparently uh when I watch the AFL now because Disney has purchased I don't think they purchased the stadium but they purchased the naming rights to uh the stadium formerly known as ettihad stadium in Melbourne I've never heard of it it's where a lot of the AFL games take place uh I think it's like the biggest stadium in Melbourne that might not be true I don't know podcast at M

nerd.com feel free to correct me uh it's it is I mean there's a lot of AFL games played there I can tell you that and it is now be the biggest probably not because fine anyway it's called Marvel Stadium now and uh I'm fine with that that's [ __ ] rad I'm fine with that too I might start watching AFL I might switch codes just so I can see Marvel stadium so hopefully I'm G to be seeing a lot more uh Disney Marvel themed stuff I can't believe I'm [ __ ] so into Disney and Marvel at this stage of my life I like Disney so much now Disney just doing it's like when I when I got into my late 30s I got seriously into Disney yeah exactly and when I was a kid nah [ __ ] that [ __ ] it's [ __ ] darkh Horse

Comics [ __ ] yeah like you know all the and now I'm like [ __ ] show me those Disney movies how's the um the Takeover of fox going apparently well and Ryan Reynolds has said that its business as usual and it's had no effect on anything I don't know we yet to see if they're going to try and incorporate all that stuff back in well it still needs to wait and see if that the government allows it to go ahead yeah because they've agreed to it but the government's gone we just want to have a closer look because cuz Disney owns [ __ ] everything own everything yeah which I'm okay with still there's still other players in that in that bidding war yeah I think um there's other media conglomerates that say they will out bit Disney for Fox I

am kind of hoping that Disney do get it because I'd like to see like most of the Marvel stuff go back I wonder if they'll just relaunch the Fantastic Four Comics if they get the rights to them back they kill them off well no they've got the rights to the comics but they sorry but I mean to the film to the films I mean they killed off the characters in the comics because they couldn't make films about them yeah because they keep making the films that were just terrible no one can have them we're we're not going to yeah keep writing comics for this see I wish I could it would be nice if they played along like Sony is now yes exactly license them out yeah get that sweet Spider-Man does that mean that the comics are now literally just marketing

material for the films yep yeah yeah they are they like they do still do some some cool stuff like there was a really your philosophy is run of vision but but mostly it's just yeah yeah but like if it's at the point now where you won't release a comic unless there's a film counterpart to it oh no no I think the reason why they stopped making fantastic Force cuz the movies were so terrible and they're just sort of like why are we still going to keep building up these characters when you're ruining them for everyone could have made anymore there's a threat on redit about K them off people were saying why do they keep relaunching [ __ ] like Batman's re Batman number one like they relaunch it like once a year and like you know like Avengers one

like they keep doing it they don't they no longer do long runs of comics like you know like it used to be oh Spider-Man 576 is out this week because it was it just went from the [ __ ] 50s up until now from the beginning yeah yes and and then like why don't they do that anymore and someone said basically it's because people normal you know like everyday people comic fans want that and and that's what sucks is that they want these long you know ongoing stories so they can get involved and all that kind of stuff but there's 10 of them 10 people and there are you know like 10 million people who go and watch [ __ ] Infinity war and then go out and buy a comic and then go out and buy Infinity War number one the comic so yeah and it's a business so that's what you get

now I tried with Comics I really did I just could not do it I have a Marvel unlimited subscription I read them I I still enjoy them I used to read Comics a lot when I was a kid and I I you know I I use it enough that I think it's worth the I it cost me like I just read everything the first couple of like first couple of episodes or whatever what do you call a comic first couple of comics in a series and then I'd forget to go back to the news agency see cuz I'm just as is the people I just talked about you know like Infinity war came out and it gets me interested in like other characters and I'm like oh yeah might look into you know Captain Marvel a bit and just familiar ref familiarize myself with with that character and then Marvel unlimited I just pick up my iPad I can

read anything that that's uh I think there's like a six-month delay so you don't get the last six months but then they just put everything up on there and you can read anything all the way back to the not back to the beginning and these aren't like pay-per-view you've paid for the subscription correct it's like netx Comics yeah right every it doesn't they they don't have everything in there I think they're still digitizing them all but there's [ __ ] more than you could ever read in there and anything popular is in there there's like hundreds of thousands of issues of everything the Star Wars stuff is all in there uh even they even put uh you know marvel bought the rights to the Star Wars comics back and I think they've got the Dark Horse ones in there

because they now own them so all all that stuff is in there yeah they're just not canon no right but they're still no well the new ones are they still exist they're making new ones now right sure so there's new there's new there's like a Lando series but the ones we used to read where [ __ ] Luke wearing the Darth Vader costume running around sure they're on there they're just not canon yeah but you want if you want to read them might have to look into that and also I buy comics on Comics did I have the X-Wing series on there Rog Rogue Squadron I've always wanted to read them uh Star Wars X-Wing Rogue Squadron 1995 to 1998 35 issues I might give that a read and I don't get anything out of you checking out Marvel unlimited I just really like it as a service we don't get

anything out of you going and checking out anything we talk about except T m.com merch well no you actually have to buy something you can't just check it out yes but they they have to check it out first yeah you can't buy it without going to the website I I don't think it seems unlikely that you could yeah it' be yes let us know if you can can I say something that really really tickled me this week really tickled me a feather please so this is uh this is a cake shop in South Carolina how far is that from you Matt uh it's it's bit Southwest the middle quite far it's quite far yeah yeah yeah that big bit in the middle um so a woman's son uh was graduating at the very very top of his university class um and as as you know in

universities they tend to use Latin phrases for things so uh instead of just saying you're the best they say that he is the Suma [ __ ] louder right M um which means with high distinction she applied to get uh a cake with congratulations for coming Suma lder and when she got the cake um and pulled it out of the box in front of all her friends and family um they had censored the word come congratulations Jacob Suma dot dot dot louder yeah so apparently some software had sensored it well she said when she tried to input it into the uh

online booking it wouldn't let her write that it recognized that as a word that was prohibited so she wrote a a separate note and included it just saying hey I'm I'm trying to write this but it's it's part of the Latin phrase Su Lou which means um with high distinction y yes um just so that they would know I I'm not writing congratulations on all that [ __ ] and uh and they still no that is filthy we are going to write the sentence and censor that word well actually what I'm thinking I'm thinking they just didn't read yeah they were just like Ping these [ __ ] cakes out and they're like whatever I don't think they actually did this on purpose no I'm sure they didn't but I I guess you'd have to really really not care about your job to just

go oh the computer censored something I'm just going to write dot dot dot then also I to have entered into their system about what stuff to sort of censor and so how many cakes were they getting where people want to come written on it enough that yeah Somebody went you know what we're just going to block this [ __ ] well I've ordered five this week so that's right yeah I mean not a day goes by where I don't or or send someone a cake with the with a caption this cake is made out of my C I call the Cake Shop up the road and he answers he goes another [ __ ] cake I'm like don't say it like that yeah wink well how do you think I feel the guy at my cake shop is deaf so I keep calling him my b a cake he keeps going come again and I'm like yes come again

yes I do think it's odd that that that happened and then she didn't think to check the cake until opening it yeah but whatever I may forget to CU I've picked up cakes for work things that have like we've got stuff written the first thing you do when you get to the cake shop is open it up yeah make sure it says I think this I think this if C's not on there I want him to redo it excuse me I believe I asked for [ __ ] on this cake I'll get that sorted out right away yeah sorry I've got to get my manager uh sir sir they're complaining there's no come on the cake that version of that complaint what is this opposite [Laughter] day but I'd love to think that like this

kids like grandparents what what do it meant to say they they didn't write come what didn't they write come Grandma they didn't write come why what why do you want come she says that he is she says her son was humiliated he's saying heting no he they were giggling uncontrollably and at least my friends were he [ __ ] was too yeah but I love that he's like no everyone was laughing well at least my friends were yeah I was uh oh yeah yeah I was definitely humiliated yeah yeah y if you ask my M it wasn't hilarious probably his mom he probably heard his mom use the word come far more often that day than he ever wanted to yes definitely it probably started off funny and then his friends were just laughing at him and his mom talking

about still going on about C he literally just said I wish there was more [ __ ] I wanted [ __ ] why haven't I got [Laughter] [ __ ] Public's supermarkets oh yeah okay it's just like a chain of uh supermarkets so we we don't have them up here but it's fine you couldn't use them anyway M it would have been whoever got the cake they would have printed it off and got dash dash dash you just got to call and speak to someone now look there's a there's a wonderful Bakery up the road and I'm sure they'd come on my cake if I asked them to I did order a cake for somebody once that said happy birthday P that's right I remember that so they wrote that guy was like the GU like I know what it means yeah that's
