Above Average Intelligence: Kevin Smith's Podcast & Scientology Test

I'm back [ __ ] welcome back been gone for a couple of weeks but finally decided to make another appearance M our listeners were concerned yeah okay Fame has not gone to my head okay that's good because you have become quite famous since uh since you lit since you L that's not even a word since I left the nest is I think what you're going for actually it was since you were here last and since you left got combined got your back then I know thanks buddy welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy I got back from uh La last week mhm and I've just been trying to catch up on sleep has not gone well is that

cuz you didn't sleep while you in La I'm not stayed awake that entire time did you do what uh you know everybody does all the tourists in La do uh just get a job get a job in a restaurant and uh oh no I did not get a job there don't worry a lot of people actually no I got interviewed a few times a few times I always get interviewed when I go to La I don't know how it happens had a photographer following me around for a bit okay let's let's break this all down because some pretty interesting stuff happened to you while you were in La so for the listeners who were confused by our round about explanation of it because we were operating under some very little knowledge can you

explain to us why you were in America all right the reason I was there is because I wanted to go to the Xbox press briefing cuz that's always been a dream of mine I got a ticket and I went [ __ ] it I'm going so I flew halfway across the world to go to a toour press briefing okay and how long were you there for I ended up being there for a week I was meant to be there for four days but I extended it to so you you flew that way for a 2our press conference that's fine I've flown that distance to watch a movie before so no judgment there um but what did you do with the other 22 hours on that day and the other how long did you say were you there for it you were there for a week the other mathematics hours that you were there yeah correct I did I did a

couple things I saw some stuff from Xbox I saw some stuff from EA I went to see a podcast being recorded live mhm mhm and then I just went shopping I've always shopping one what did you buy America's good for shopping shoes shoes always get the best cons over there okay that's true we do have good cons here you've been conned How many pairs and cons did you buy I brought three pairs this time multiple colors yeah of course did you bring an extra suitcase just for shoes no I I cuz I was only going for 4 days I actually only took a backpack with me how did you get to I purchased a bag that's what I had to do familiar M yeah yeah I had to do that at one point I I I've gotten better at it but yeah when I was traveling part of traveling was just

buying a bunch of [ __ ] because I mean it's true there are more options for clothing and shoes and and stuff like that here in the US than there are in Australia so plus it's just fun to shop when you're away stores new it's like normally I can't just go and buy all this [ __ ] but now I can and and that's also being on holidays just sort of feel like if I was back home I'm not going to spend this amount of money but right I'm on vacation [ __ ] blank exactly right it's holiday fund not spending money yeah and then worry about how to pay for it when you get home so you glossed over the fact that you sat in on a podcast recording so I'd like to hear bit more about that the reason I actually extended my stay was just to go to see Hollywood Babylon with Kevin Smith and

Ralph Garmin cuz they personally invited you to uh to go I assume of course yes yes um I may been a little nervous about missing the show not quite knowing where it was so I got to the bar pretty early kind of like okay you youve pre-baked this excuse into the story yeah that's right that's my this is why I was drunk your honor actually it was weird it was the only only night in La that I drank I was there I believe that the listeners don't believe it either all right it was the it was the only night I got really drunk y there was a quite a few nights of Tipsy Luke okay and how did you how did drunk Luke and Kevin Smith get on and I know the answer cuz I've heard the [ __ ] I've heard the evidence yeah

here's the thing listeners uh for those of you who don't already know lukee featured pretty heavily on the Hollywood Babylon podcast yeah I think it was a good like 20 minutes mhm I um I did were you in the front row it sounded like you were very close to them yes I was in the front row they kept bringing me Gins there Kevin Smith kept bringing you gin yep so look Kevin Smith has been a hero of mine since I was a teenager Ralph G I never heard of before um but uh gin funny man very nice guy as well I I hung out with him after the show I gotta Dan you finish because I yeah no look I was just gonna say that like when you told me that you were going to uh sit in on

Kevin Smith's podcast I'd kind of i' forgotten how much I like Kevin Smith for starters um cuz he's kind of been I mean he even admits himself that he's a bit of a hasb been these days but uh but I'm a little bit jealous I must admit and uh when I listen to this show and Kevin Smith is talking to you and uh and using his sexy voice to tell you that you need to start eating your wife's [ __ ] more and then start they start talking to other people and then Kevin Smith's like hang on let's find out what Luke has to say about this always bringing it back yeah it was so odd how he just kept bringing it back to me there were a few times I heard you

yelling stuff out and in the background yeah there was also that and they do announce at the beginning show like there is crowd participation but don't be that guy and you were like [ __ ] that I am that guy I was I was having a chat with Ralph and his assistant after the show and I went did I go too far and I went look if you had have gone too far I would have been coming up tapping you on the shoulder telling you to shut up right but I was I was okay when you have to ask though when you have to say did I spoil your show well I don't think I did cuz they kept you didn't man you did not EXA funny I mean there was some talk of koalas and then Kevin Smith like directly addressed you and asked you

more to to elaborate more and this is after Kevin Smith said this about you you look like a character yeah and I was like [ __ ] man that's got to be in quotes on everything we do now but that's just how I look we don't tell people often say to me cuz I because I have said in the past I'm not a huge fan of Kevin Smith's films I like some of them people always go oh you don't like Kevin Smith I actually really like Kevin Smith like I I watched his you know evening with Kevin Smith videos and I like I don't listen to his podcast much however I might now cuz I listen to that one and I'm like actually that reminds me I [ __ ] do like Kevin Smith icast are great he's the reason why I don't listen

to our podcast they're just too similar cuz now you're on his well you going to stop listening to his now that you're on it yeah you can't listen to that episode I assume damn it no I actually it took I've only listened to part of it I was nervous about listening to it you did listen to an episode of that podcast I listened I I listen sort of Hannah listened to it while I was sort of out of the room and iame I was nervous to listen H yeah cuz cuz you were drunk you didn't remember what you said yeah you were right to be yeah yeah but actually I think you come across quite well yeah yeah no it was good think I handled it well like I'm I'm ready to be famous

yeah well good cuz uh f just hit you like a truck cuz you are all right well that was that's a [ __ ] fantastic reason to stick around in LA and I'm glad you did uh congratulations yeah every time I've been to over to the the states I've wanted to go see one of his podcasts and every single time it's either not on or it's on the other side of the country so it well definitely a highlight of your this side of the country no no sometimes I've been to LA and he's been on the other side of the country yeah yeah that's where I am so where is he so did record podcast over here can I go and chat with Kevin Smith yeah he's done stuff down in Philly and um that's not that close yeah is he doing I think he has done in Boston as

well there you go now we're talking all right all right well he's a jersey boy so he probably he probably records a New Jersey but that's not super far I you could get there you could get yeah I can get no I get Jo but L you did uh you did something else while you were there that interests us greatly and so I would like uh you you casually remarked that you did some interviews while you were there and I'd like to hone in on one interviewer in particular and you know what that is Luke I I I have no idea at the moment where where's this going I want to know about your interview with the scientologists oh [ __ ] forgot about that well I didn't I still got the homework I have to finish okay we'll get to that we'll get to that Luke uh he's

his house give him give him an F was it uh was it your intention to go out and uh speak to the Scientologist or did they flag you down on the street I've always wanted to go and do their personality test I've seen them on the streets in a few different cities before and I went screw it I've got time to kill I'm going to do it they look like stand up into idual I want to I want to know what that's about well they're got to be doing something right they're still around sure so now I went in and I did a personality test right I I think someone could have looked at you for less than a second and and being able to sum up your personality Kevin Smith did yeah it's actually quite weird like

godamn beans Luke yeah come on be there was nothing about the religion yeah I've heard that I've heard they keep that secret for a while yeah that was there was nothing about that it was just a personality test and they've gone here are some things that you might be able to improve here's a course you can do here's this and it was all about that I think that's how they start you down the path so the courses were with them I assume yes they offered me to sit do a two and a half hour course okay okay so back up what was it that they said about your personality could be improved oh God I should remember this shouldn't I I if I had know I I've got the paperwork in the other room if you had know if only you had known we were going to ask about it oh here here's

something that I found very odd and I think this is where they're wrong just get the [ __ ] paperwork I'm above average intelligence okay that might be true now yeah it might be true true and and a skeptic might say that they probably tell that to everyone to kind of uh endear you to them but we give you the benefit of the doubt they also said I was prone to rash decisions okay that's that is true yeah yeah and what was the other thing maybe they oh look they might say that to everyone as well because if you've decided to take the personality test then yeah you are prone to rash decisions um I forget what the third thing was about how I interact with people something about that okay so was the course to help you interact with people or was it to make you less rash or was

it to make you less intelligent this one was to I think it was to help me interact with people better okay that's what it actually was so they they wouldn't let me go until I've filled out they wouldn't let you go they they really I just want to make sure I heard that right yeah cuz that's what I was worried was going to happen yeah they wanted me to complete the first part of the homework they were giving me okay and so I did that with um them there not homework um they've given me a book and a DVD and some homework I call it homework they sat there and made you DVD yeah oh I paid for it okay oh for [ __ ] sake what what was the DVD Luke stop skirting around the

details no it's honestly because since I left I have not opened it they told you not to talk to us didn't they no they did not I'm starting to realize well then [ __ ] tell us everything they made you watch it but you haven't opened it that doesn't that I haven't no I haven't watched the DVD yet I've got been given a book that's going to help me interact with people better and then I meant to read the book and as I complete a chapter I fill in homework and then I send it off to them and then they try and help me become a better person okay well that's nice of them now what they make you do when you there you said they made you do something before they let you leave what was it oh that was just I wanted me to complete the first part of the booklet what was it

for [ __ ] sake what did they make you do what did you have to do um they asked me questions about it was just like about what um you don't remember do you they're listening right now don't I really don't remember cough once if they're in the room Luke Luke cough once if they're in the room no um I'll have a look through it and I'll discuss it more next week okay you'll check what you're allowed to say and what you're allowed to he's got to call his Handler yeah oh Christ or he's got to turn around and and check what his Handler says cuz he's in room he's turned around the handle just like shaking his head slowly yeah with above

average intelligence my ass but I got the hold the tin things yeah the the Emer whatever it's called they didn't explain what it was though they didn't explain any of that something about thetans yeah I think so so I'm just quite interesting I'm I'm interesting to see to see what where it goes don't say it like that what do you mean where it goes I'm not going to what do you mean where it goes where is it going luk where do you think it might go I'm just quite interesting in seeing how they do progress and how they do get people who whoa who hold on hold on you want to see how it progresses firsthand you want to know how they they brain people look at the moment all what Happ is I've done a personality test they've

given me a book a DVD and some homework and you are planning on doing the homework I don't like reading well it's a DVD so that's lucky for you yeah but I also do you have something that would play a DVD uh Xbox uh by Xbox oh the XBox plays a DVD okay yep that's it that's the only thing that would I have now yeah like even my computer doesn't have any drive you know I was uh I've just moved into a new place and we didn't have internet for the first week which is why last week I had to go back to my old place to uh to record but um so not only did I have no internet but I had like no way of uh you know I couldn't watch Netflix couldn't do anything so I thought okay I'm going to I'm going to watch a Blu-ray because

that's literally all I can do now God they take forever to load own One Blu-Ray right it's the force awakens and uh I put it in and the Xbox says uh you need to uh you need to update the Blu-ray app before you can watch anything so I couldn't even watch my One Blu-Ray sons of [ __ ] when you got home what you should have done was just downloaded a lot of stuff off Netflix yeah yeah that's yeah that would yeah you're probably right cuz you can do that full of great advice a week after yeah that's right that's right it's on now I'm at home and uh all as well I had uh this is usually a segment that's reserved for Dan but I had a sort of a a racial fobar this week of my own see the reason that Matt usually doesn't have racial faux pass is because Matt

usually just doesn't give a [ __ ] if he comes across racist that's true but in this case uh he was it was in the middle of a a phone call I don't want to give away too much because it's uh it's work stuff but I was on the phone I'm currently working with some uh with some developers in Mexico and umic yes and we were talking uh not not with them but just with the client uh we're both individ both teams working on stuff for the same client uh and I'd been a little frustrated by uh some of the stuff they were doing just seemed like they they were kind of ping things off right makes and some sometimes I say things and uh it's not a saying here you know like

something I'm used to just saying as you know kind of a little phrase oh yeah that people say whole thing Matt I know exactly what you mean exactly exactly so uh so I'm in this meeting and I comment on the fact that it just seems like they're just tossing stuff over the wall to me and and I I know that term I've used that term at work it means nothing that's magnificent and then I go I said it and then my brain like just my brain caught up and I was like [ __ ] is that even a thing here and so I'm looking around and then no one's no one's saying anything so but but like I'm looking at you would stun silence no no no no sorry there just no one's saying anything about that they just

continue talking and and and so and my Palms are starting to get sweaty cuz I'm like oh oh [ __ ] and then but but no one's commenting on it the meeting's just continuing as normal and I found out afterwards it is a thing it's fine okay however I had to ask afterwards and then after that my boss just [ __ ] told everybody that was my uh my oh [ __ ] moment for the week that's great yeah and they said maybe just don't say that when we're on the phone with them with the with the with the team in Mexico just in [Music] case there's a bank over here one of the big Banks and they've just released a uh a credit card it's one of those kind of gold unlimited credit cards and it's So

Posh that it actually has um diamonds embedded in the actual card wow and um why oh [ __ ] def IO because some people have so much money that they can justify having a [ __ ] diamond encrusted credit card right um and it comes when you when you when you get this it comes to you in a in like a little ornate box right and on the box it says this Singapore's first diamond embellished UOB Reserve metal card for those who value exclusivity in its most extinguished form I think they me distinguished but that's not what it says it was on fire but we've taken care of that here it is yeah but the funny

thing is is that this ornate box that comes in kind of looks like one of those in case of fire break glass kind of uh Arrangements is there some fire angle to this that you're not aware of no there's look if there is then I'm going way off here but uh as far as I can tell it's just a typo but it's most expensive typo I've seen in a long time before I flew out to LA I had to run around to find my old wallet so I had a card to take with me cuz I don't use cards anymore because you don't have money because Hannah spends the money for you well no with the allowance I do get I don't use cards or cash in Australia I just use my phone or my watch CU I can just tap everywhere I like doing that so but yeah over in yeah that's just what I do I don't actually

carry a wallet with me at all with a phone I don't yeah I've I've I don't know that that's even a thing here I can tap for anything anywhere yeah in um when I was in London uh end of last year you can do that everywhere it was awesome here you can do it some places but not uh not so much uh no well not in Rhode Island anyway probably in like Manhattan or somewhere you can but not in uh not in Rhode Island well not last year you Clint in Rhode Island in Manhattan oh in manhatt oh right of course yeah no probably not because we got a lot of embedded infrastructure here and so it's kind of like yeah it's uh there's a lot of hurdles bring in something like that yeah hello imperial system of measurement it's true people don't like change hello inverted

date I saw this great meme the other day that was um a detailed map showing all the countries in the world that use the um inverted date and it was completely blank except for America yeah I've gotten used to it now but uh that was a weird one at first yeah I I've got some things that America needs to fix I need to fix the date they need to start letting me tap everywhere wait sorry are these in order are these in order of priority that America needs to fix these are social problems America all number one and then also just include your tax in the price okay so the children are being taken away from their number four oh yeah live let the children stay with their parents yeah I don't know anything about that I mean if you get no one was accusing

you what were you doing the other five days you were here separating parents from their children what it's what I do it's what I do so you went to E3 uh s you did some related stuff what did you yes you saw the press conference y uh I watched that online that was pretty cool the press conference was actually it was amazing to be and I watched the highlights it was long it was long but it was good being there did you get any free [ __ ] um no but I did actually get to sit next to someone quite cool who sightless combat I don't know if you've heard of him no he's blind and a big gamer Okay cool so I'm sitting down and they've got this fancy chair sitting next to me and then I wasn't meant to be sitting next to it

but I did anyway cuz I'm Luke and then I sat down and then this guy walks up and he's blind and I'm sit down and I had a chat with him so I ended up sitting next to him through the entire thing and then he's got a special chair that's vibrating for the show and then I'm also explaining the video that's coming up to him and it was yeah it was great huh did he ask you to or is he like look dude I've got a I've got a I've got an app for this didn't want shut up yeah well no cuz he could he could experience it through the chair but didn't really some stuff you just can see through the chair clearly yeah so no no I I was explaining stuff and he was happy for me to do this cool um he's actually been organizing um making a map in Halo forge that's actually teaches people to play

blindfolded oh that's interesting so I'm going to get in contact with him and try and give that a go it was awesome sitting next to him cuzz I've got to meet people [Music] unless you're into algebra well I did have Halo 3 ODST yeah cool um Force Horizon I'm looking forward to mhm I was upset though about one thing where's my VR yeah okay so there's I put an article in here about this uh there isn't any they have no plans for any might they announced this not on the console at least they are supporting it on PC yeah but that's [ __ ] who cares they made a big deal about this you know like what last year the year before it was last year they came out and there was going to be Fallout VR

super excited for nobody after all these years nobody still is sure if if vr's going to really be a thing apparently so on the periphery you've got Skyrim and Fallout 4 on you know VR and apparently they're they're pretty fun and then there's the Doom VR which everyone stopped talking about but that's it like what else is there in VR there's like little you know like G pinball yeah yeah yeah but gimmicks right like pinball VR come on you know yeah there's just there's no game that's sort of jumping out but I will I'm going to get a VR headset this year I've decided what are you going to oh if your PC yep see I I'd like to try it out but I guess the best option for me is going to be a PS4 but I don't want to buy a PS4 just for that no you don't want a

PS4 one no if you're going to get one spend the money and get something decent no that's that's not gonna happen I'm not going to use it enough to justify it so look next time you go past the Samsung store just go in and try one out oh what I've used them at um you know conventions and stuff so it's just yeah but I really want to try one for like an hour or two like an actual gaming session not when people are lining up behind you yeah that's right like we did that Earth Light thing at Pax Oz that was cool that was awesome I played uh that VR game at uh I played a few VR games at PX here but there was that one pixel ripped the the Retro one that was interesting there's some interesting stuff but they're all kind of gimmicky like there's not just a you know I guess

I just I want to play full gimick because it doesn't really enhance the playability of the game really I mean you still do everything you can do still look in all directions you just have to move the joystick yeah we have to use the joystick to move anyway it's not like you can walk around exactly well some of them you can I think but not fall that's what I need that's where VR needs to stop they need to stop trying to have people stand up yeah Gamers don't want to stand the reason why they Gamers well maybe they have a mental disorder maybe that's why they're Gamers because this this came out this week yeah that's right the World Health Organization now recognizes gaming addiction as a legitimate disorder it's interesting which is not

what we want a legitimate mental disorder yeah um Luke would you like to hear the criteria for uh what the wh um says how screwed am I okay so there's three criteria first okay gaming Behavior takes precedence over other activities to the extent that other activities are taken to the periphery I would say yes yeah I'd say that's fair yeah you play games instead of doing your homework for the scientologists that's exactly yeah okay so uh the second characteristic is impaired control of this behavior um that is even when negative consequences occur this Behavior will continue or even escalate um I would say sort of yes cuz negative would be I'm really sleepy and

tired when I have to get up and go to work but it won't stop me from that very night still staying up to 1 2:00 in the morning playing a game y that that that that's very the very definition yes that is what that means yep okay so the third and last characteristic is um when a person's personal relationships education or occupation is negatively affected by the addiction to playing video games ah I'm safe then yeah I was going to say you seem all right on that front I I will not let my gaming affect my work because if it affects my work I can't get money to buy more games I like how you didn't say relationship you just said work yeah he left that one out he has a very very patient wife though I only got halfway through not Tak my job it goes on to say the consequences

of a person with a gaming disorder are real and may include diet problems sleep problems and an unwillingness to engage in physical activities see I don't think these things need to be related to strictly to gamer people just get addicted to things well they're [ __ ] designed to addict you like the yeah yeah but person who's prone to being addicted to something they they're going to be prone to being addicted to many different things it's just a person gets addicted to things it's not gaming is an addiction that person has an addiction to being addicted that's how I look at it yeah guns don't kill people people kill people they they design games to be addictive like you look at even something like Conan right that we've been playing Conan Exiles it man I can't

wait until something is more interesting to me than Conan I'm spending [ __ ] way to i i i tick all these criteria just for Conan but Con in particular right though sometimes you know when it it at the moment right you've been having trouble connecting and getting into the game right yes I have so I've had that before too and when that happens it makes me think about the game itself and then I kind of this kind of like I guess illusion lifts and I'm like it's all just a carefully designed progression to keep me addicted like you know like oh I've got to get the steel [ __ ] pickaxe I got to get the you know you got to get this you got to get that and then once I see that I get annoyed and I don't want to play it anymore and then obviously I'll come

back to it later but like they're all they're all like honestly see that in every single game yeah say but you're right Matt because here's the thing the only thing that A Game's job to do is to just steal all your time away yeah sometimes not and but see the other thing Conan exil doesn't really have a story some of them do and I can and then I'm like that's fine I am progressing but also I'm enjoying a story it's like if I watch a movie right like if I watch a movie it's got a story so there's a little bit extra but some games uh and you know K and X I get to play with you guys so it does have like a benefit to it other than just me [ __ ] but no I think like a good thing for me is I will play it I'll be playing that while I'm watching something in the

background yeah I enjoy doing that that's yeah know that's fair I used to do Minecraft that way and uh Terraria well it's basically just uh Minecraft with uh with cavemen TI yeah and but if I'm just sitting you know stuff like like Pokemon go like what was the [ __ ] point of that there was no point I'm still playing it of course you are God's sake every game is the same they're designed to take up your time yes and take your money yes but what the entertainment industry is I'm just saying something like Fallout or Skyrim where it's got a story and I feel like it's just got a little bit more to it than just I'm clicking on things like yeah but unfortunately the way a lot of stuff's going now is the story starting to really take a it's not the

Forefront anymore Witcher look at The Witcher right [ __ ] everything in The Witcher is yeah it's it it is a progression and and it is you know designed to kind of to to addict you to the gameplay but it's got a story and it's all like interesting and there's no it's all you know everything is voice act it's not like they just toss [ __ ] in there to keep you playing like everything's part of the story I had a quest the other day uh where I had to recover the genitals off a statue yeah somebody stole the genitals off a statue cuz they're supposed to Magic and it's [ __ ] amazing actually I still need to finish it and then I need to play it through again cuz I own two copies of it you have to play each C I'll let that go I'll let that go I'm addicted to a

che Don't Let It Go no I got it cuz the Game of the Year Edition gave you more achievements right so you could get the same achievements again oh speaking of sorry uh Witcher you saw the the [ __ ] cyber Punk reveal my God that looks great yeah [ __ ] yeah I was so pissed off we didn't go this year because they had the closed door uh demo of it we could have [ __ ] gone to that if we just [ __ ] gone to E3 like like this year's this year's Microsoft Xbox was a million times better than last year yeah last year I think they were getting hammered for not having exclusives so last year they went we're going to give you all these exclusives and it was a ton of games that no one wanted yeah this year this year they've come out and they've just

gone here's this one here's this one here's this one and why they weren't necessarily like total exclusives they were first showing there and it's going going to be a good few years for Xbox now yeah yeah just wish I'd seen it been there wish I could have seen some of the game but I guess we can wait for it but yeah [ __ ] it looks so good um but we still don't know when that's coming out though no no but it will be on this generation which I thought was interesting they they are saying it they are still aiming for Dish generation but I can't see it coming out before the end of 2019 sure at the earliest yeah what I'm looking forward to is Fall Out 76 sort of yeah yeah sort of I was looking forward to it more last week than I am

this week I just uh I don't I haven't read I haven't seen any more about it I don't know how embedded in the online component is yeah yeah CU this is why I think Conan is a good game for us to play online mhm why I would love to play a Fallout or something with you guys online we can't do it no it just asks too much of you like to be able for us to be able toit to a time to play a story game is not possible that's why K's great I can understand why it would be awesome to roam around Fallout cuz I even remember back in Oblivion on the Xbox walking around Oblivion talking with Dave or other people online while we're wandering around in the same game and that was

that was fun and interesting and back then it would have been amazing to play with people in the one world but yeah it doesn't work for us now yeah yeah so yeah I don't know I'm really skeptical of that game cuz I we talked about a little bit last week I just feel like putting it online puts restrictions on it that I don't really want in a Fallout game because it's got a my my decisions can't affect everyone else's game so I don't know I I don't' also got to worry about the whole thing where the whole part of this game is you get nukes and you can nuke other people and stuff and I don't want to have to worry about that in my game we'll see did you did you play anthem you went to see

bought them out yeah and I think this one I just don't see it working I it's to me this is going to be another destiny that's what it looked like to me yeah like there is a story you go through you play the story and then you finish the story and then there'll be the world event you can do and then you can go get pretty armor I like Destiny but I didn't like it enough to commit to it that's the other thing too these games they [ __ ] demand so much of you you know I really enjoyed the division right it was it was fun I love that was a great game and I look at the division 2 and I'm like [ __ ] that looks awesome but they just they demands so much commitment I'm like I'm almost like I just can't play it because it's it's I'm not going to be able to commit to the

division's going to be good what reason why Destiny I don't think worked well for us is cu there was no story well if you wanted a story you had to go hunting for that's what I mean yeah yeah yeah yeah in the division there was story there yeah true and you can actually play through that entire thing and then you don't have to continue playing the grind gear because you've you've finished it and I'm hoping division two is the same okay that you can have that single player experience or even a co-op experience but then if you get to the end of it after you finish the story if you don't want to do the whole grinding for pretty gear to get that new jacket or new shoes you don't have to just fly to LA and buy three pairs I needed

them Bethesda uh suing the creators of the Westworld iOS or or mobile game I don't have you seen the the West I'm really not surprised I heard about this and there are a few games that are very much like the Fallout one but then I read more into this and I found out why they actually going after this one or not the other ones CU I saw this game and I thought oh this must be from the same you know team that made the the same [ __ ] game sort of is a little bit what's that it sort of is a little bit it's the same it's the same and it's the same people made it sort of go on um some of the people who worked on the original Fallout made this game the original Fallout or the original fallout shelter The Reason Why Beth are actually

going after it's not the fact that just it is a ripoff of for that shelter yep it's also because it uses their code and even the same bugs that for shelter launched with this is launched with see I looked at this because this has been advertised to me on all social medias at the moment and uh at first I was like oh that looks good that looks kind of like fallout shelter and then I remembered that I didn't really like fallout shelter so I'm probably not going to play this for a couple of hours I installed fallout shelter again just to see and I opened it up and I was like no not interested same with remember Tiny Death Star that was fun for a week yeah look I got massively into Tiny Death Star for a while and then I couldn't even imagine playing that again you know

why it's exactly what I was saying before there's no [ __ ] point to it it's it's yeah like just goes on forever and that's fine except the cognitive load required after playing that for you know you play it for at the start it doesn't take too much after a while it's just too much it demands too much attention for what it is yeah for for mobile game I want something I can load up play for 5 minutes put down and I don't want something that I can have to load up and then wait there for 15 minutes while something exactly and [ __ ] what's going on over here what's going on over here it's like I'm it's like I'm playing Civ 6 but but I'm not I'm playing this silly little game so yeah not for me but yeah with this I think Bethesda have a bit of they're going to make

they're going to West world's going to pay them money and this will go away yeah probably look I have zero games on my uh on my iPhone at the moment or at least I did until about an hour ago when I decided to uh download the uh Arc dinosaur Survival game oh okay but uh I've not play it's basically exil I think with Dinosaurs I saw that it was free and I thought all right well price is right I'll I'll give it a look but uh I'm imagining I'll probably play it for 10 minutes and uh and then delete it that's not a mobile game yeah I don't want to play that on my phone so no once I get it for a good price I'm going to get it on the Xbox I get all the achievements but cuz I'm actually that's something this week off I lost my position in

they watch that recently yeah I did but I have been telling you about that one for quite some time okay what's the staircase uh it is a uh it's like a true crime show about a uh a woman who staircase yeah about woman who died well actually about two staircases actually it's about uh yeah it's it's about a a suspected it's about death and that they suspected it might have been a homicide and it's about the investigation and the and the court case and and all that stuff I don't want to give too much away uh it's very interesting it's like really interesting actually I okay so you did like it yeah so here's the thing I I knew about this case already and when I started the first episode I almost immediately was like oh I know what this is this is the

I'm not I don't want to say too much but this is the case where there was this thing y it doesn't come up murder in the show at all the thing that I was thinking of can I uh which surprised me just without giving too much away Matt is the thing let just say let's just say it's a real who done it yeah yeah a real who who done it right yeah doesn't come up doesn't come up at all which um there is a there is a sequel to the show also they did a follow-up film a oneoff about 10 years after um and uh doesn't come up on that either there's some other stuff that I thought was interesting about it too cuz we're cuz we okay I really enjoyed it you should watch it uh listeners and Luke you should watch it if you like True Crime it's very interesting you get to see a lot of

behind the scenes stuff like CU I I was worried that I already kind of know about this I it might not be interesting for me but then it really it was because they didn't even go where I thought they were going with it so what was the crime the crime was this guy's wife uh she they were outside they'd been drinking hanging out uh out they're out by the pool she said I'm going to bed she went in he came in sometime later I'm not sure exactly how long and she was just lining a pull of blood at the bottom of the stairs okay and the police were like well he [ __ ] killed her and that's what it's about MH okay and his defense was she fell correct well he doesn't know is his defense but C seems that way

drunk off my tits certainly seems like she fell yeah if he didn't kill her that's probably what happened right so and then that's that's what it's about the prosecution says he killed her the defense says well she probably just fell uh and they have to prove you know either way and the the series is mostly about them building the case correct because I want to talk about it but I don't want to spoil it for people how old is it well it's about iten in 200 201 yeah you will pass no no but it has only just been put on Netflix oh and like last year the latest the latest episodes are from like the last year so what the there's what you talking about there's three three episodes at the end

that were filmed like last year and the year before Oh [ __ ] well I OB watched this a few years ago so there was or maybe maybe what they've done is incorporated the follow-up film into this now could be I bet that's what it is in which case I probably have seen those episodes but I saw them as a like a movie so I I watched another interesting true crime series on Netflix this week Evil Genius in fact I watched all of it yesterday because there's only four episodes that's the one with the bomb it is test thing yeah neck bomb that bomb have you seen this one no it's the bank robbery though right I know about it correct bank robbery SL murder oh now I'm interested you should be interested and I'm not going to say

anything so okay um the first episode will tell you everything you need and it'll hook you in because you'll be like what the [ __ ] okay yeah cuz this is based on a true story isn't it oh yeah it's not based on a true story look it's a documentary Oh I thought it was a I didn't know it was a documentary yeah sorry I find it hard to watch new things I only watch old things does it help if if a new thing is based on an old thing CU they seem to be counting on that a lot these days and uh as we reported the other week uh people I guess were enjoying the return of Rosanne until she was super racist on Twitter and uh I commented at the time that I felt bad for all the other [ __ ] cast members because she ruined that for them but apparently not yeah

they're just cuz ABC went well actually it's not the show people hate it's just that [ __ ] what happened with Goodman I don't understand his career well he's on the number one highest rated show in America right now so his career is going just fine yeah he yeah but it seemed to me that he s sort of gone well made it to movies and then to me sort of come backwards I think I think the idea that that yeah movies are above TV is is a thing of the past now yeah I mean TV stars get paid just as much as movie stars in some case more but think about they get paid just as much but you do you can work for less and get paid more I think some of them like working I think John Goodman is probably one of those yeah but they uh they basically uh

they're just going to kill her off I think from the wording of the statement is that well we'll figure something out him off before and brought him back to life yeah that was a dream but uh yeah they said that uh cuz they were like how are you going to how are you going to have the show without her and they're like oh you know we'll just make it something dramatic happens and then the con the Connors have to deal with it so I assume they're going to kill her which is she raped to death by a black man in the show obviously I wouldn't I wouldn't hope for that fate for any real person but I hope they make it an ironic death is what I'm say you guys know how much I love an ironic death yeah that would be that would be

interesting torn to death by gorillas at the zoo Jesus while a black man raped stop tearing this woman apart I'm trying to rape her so uh look I'm actually surprised look it it's when people are on a TV show especially a long running TV show like this one which was incredibly popular at the time and is incredibly popular now and is all based around her it's her show yeah and now she's gone like I I'm surprised that all of the cast are like yeah we might keep going with the show actually Rosanne where I keep going with it like not one person I mean said that like you know no I no no no no I I agree but I I find it funny like in Hollywood I don't know maybe it's

different now maybe things are are different now but I think in the past I don't know man I'm just trying to think of like if buff had said something if Sarah Michelle jeller had said something [ __ ] racist back in the day and left Buffy would the whole cast be like let's just let's just change it to Willow and Xander Vampire Slayer I would have watched that but you got to think right even if you don't intend it that way even if you're just like I don't really want to do it if rosanne's not in it people are going to think you're supporting Roseanne's racist [ __ ] like so if if I say something racist Ru career if I say something racist and get kicked off this podcast you guys are going to be like okay well Dan's not here this week not before Dan's been raped to

death by a black man yeah geek of the week you putting someone up for Geek of the week Matt uh I am if I if I may for your for your consideration Luke I would like to I would like to submit that Vinnie Paul is geek of the week Vinnie Paul has died he was he was the drummer for panta he was Dimebag Daryl who was shot to death uh his brother and now they're both both dead uh sadly he died in his sleep apparently um don't know any more than that gotot to death in his sleep shot to death in his sleep um yeah so sad news and and why was he shot uh okay so Dimebag you know you're familiar with panta yeah the metal band you know of

him yes I know of them yes so they were very big uh in you know the '90s and the early 2000s and then they had a falling out and the band split up and there were rumors that it was because uh certain members of the band didn't get along and there was a gentleman who got it into his head that it was Daryl Dimebag Daryl the guitarist's fault so he shot him during a show uh they they started a new band called damage plan uh Dimebag and and Vinnie and at a at a show a guy got up and just shot him in the head and tried to shoot as well that's insan when I when I really want a band to get back together that a band that I love that have split up and I want that get to get

back together I start killing the members cuz that that's the sh fire away yeah yeah apparently he he wrote something about how he he blamed Dimebag for the the band come falling apart so we shot him this was it's a while ago now this is in the 2000s this happened um and the saddest part of this whole thing is so Vinnie Paul has now died uh and Phil ancelmo the singer from panta uh he had he' had a big falling out with with them over this and the guy who shot Dimebag said that it was because of Phil stuff that Phil had said that he blamed Dimebag so basically he said I'm doing this because philan Selmo said that it's Dag's fault and so he was devastated put out this video at the time crying and saying I

can't believe this has happened and Vinnie Paul uh never spoke to him after that there were they never resolved anything uh so it's kind of sad so I guess yeah I kind imagine Phil was having a good so Vinnie died uh drug overdose or uh sexually transmitted disease or something less cool unclear at this point uh died in his sleep there's this might be one of those things where you know Peter Ste and Jimmy from Avenge Sevenfold where prior excess has caused their body to just [ __ ] give up oh and uh Wayne Static same thing yeah he was a big he was an addict and then got clean and then he but it was too late the damage was done I'm going to allow this thanks man
