show wasn't probably we watched it I don't remember I we would have watched whether we saw a good or bad trailer yeah this I've got higher hopes for but also a higher expectation for so I'm excited I'm cautiously optimistic but I I'm also expecting it to utterly let me down see what I think I'm going to what I think we're going to struggle with is the same thing I think we've all been struggling with all this time is it's a character that we know and they're going to try and go yeah but he also did this now which is where we've struggled Mandalorian was great because brand new character we know nothing about we couldn't say we went but not only that we've only seen at most six films with Obi-Wan in it there are kids out there

20-year-old kids that have seen dozens and dozens of episodes of cartoons they know General Kenobi we're going to be going that's not what Obi-Wan would do and they'd be like uh dude you don't know him at all one thing I did find quite interesting it is they had Uncle Owen in it yes and Uncle Owen's been a badass wait what what did you miss him no no no I saw him but he was it looked like he Owen's going to play a bit more of a I saw a shot of him standing there and then that was all I saw I I got the impression that he he he could he could fight you think he hung that Jedi that was hung there in the scene yeah hung like a Jedi I do I do wonder who that was actually cuz it seems like they're on T like were there other Jedi hiding on tne or was that just they hung

somebody to try and find out where the Obi-Wan was probably the ladder I don't what I'm going to be find it very interesting if they're hunting Obi-Wan and then they just decide at some point go eh well should we check I mean that's where the Skywalkers are from they're living in their old compound is Kenobi there Obi W Kenobi no should Weck specify Obi One I mean yeah there there is a Kenobi living very close by but isob where everything always happens should we there yeah but yeah I don't know we will watch it I why know I will and absolutely I don't I'll it looks good I do like the fact that they've got like the the the Jedi hunters and stuff Sith inquisitors I like those yeah but you know what that just means it's really really prequels

adjacent and that makes me very nervous okay the prequels have been here for 23 years they're not going anywhere but like when they made the whole sequel Trilogy they were like let's just not talk about anything that happened in the prequels and now they're like no prequels man it made me think of fall in order which I'm okay with I liked fall in order so I think the reason why the they didn't really talk about the prequels in the new movies I think it's just because JJ and Ryan didn't like them either so they just would we just ignore them a little bit but yeah it's a different generation making these ones mhm mhm I saw a clip from uh last year the other day and I got to say like credit where credits do that end sequence is beautiful despite

it's one of the best looking Star Wars movies out context out of a lot beautiful I just didn't like the movie unfortunately we don't have to go tried to like it the listeners have [ __ ] heard this before they are saw that is that with the bread underneath Sal Planet so beautiful beautiful he has to leak it salt does that somebody would have told you before you landed on that planet that it's a salt planet and have you been waiting the whole time to be like is it salt I'll know it's salt when I [ __ ] lick it it can't be salt imag he like oh that's cyanide yeah yeah oh we're on a [ __ ] Planet aren't we and then Ryan Johnson's like

closing it just got a shiver up my spine all right the next thing I want to talk about you guys saw a movie both of you have seen a movie now Luke you mentioned you'd seen it last week and then we just forgot but now Dan has seen it but but also now because when this comes out it's going to be two weeks we can actually talk talk about but Matt hasn't seen it true oh yeah and you care about spoilers well he also cares about Batman I don't think I care about this Batman honestly I'm not sure I do care about it I'm torn mat whether to I don't know not say anything until you see it or whether to prepare you for it by just telling you everything about

it in advance you know well there is that there's that whole theory that right if you if you already know you actually enjoy it more because you w be disapp because you just go in and and and enjoy the experience yeah yeah so um I guess I don't care Luke when you saw it I think I asked you offline whether you liked it and and your answer was yes or no it's a movie yeah um I agree with you I'm not it's it's not it's not something you're going to sit down and watch over and over right God no not the least of which is because it is far far too long unnecessarily long right yes like Return of the King level long yeah 3 hours 15 minutes right is the more I think about

it the more creepy and creeped out I am by the villain right which villain ooh when he's talking to the camera glasses y um just really creepy and weird I liked I think there's a lot to like about this movie but I think it falls short in a lot of ways too especially in the storytelling I think aesthetically it's great I thought all the performances were really good I think there were a lot of things set up that didn't necessarily pay off as well as I was hoping for and I think there were some missed opportunities and my main main criticism for it was that it seems to just be Matt Reeves's primary goal to just prove to

you that he's read more Batman comics than you right but this is just cramed with Easter eggs and references to Dark Knight Returns year one you know like all like it's it's very you know like at one point he gets a letter from the solicitors Miller and Mo and it's like okay settle down settle down right all right yeah I don't know I I don't know if you'll like it or not Matt honestly I don't know I think he will I think he might it's not like I think it's not definitely not like any other Batman movie but here's the thing Luke you're right about that but it irritated me when this was like just another Batman

movie and it irritated me when it deviated away too far from the Batman that I was expecting as well and that's an interesting and confusing place to be the one thing that's all always was no no okay like which the way it was like the games I think it's more like the games aesthetically okay but goth as just this kind of nightmare City it was meant to be he was actually a detective this time okay all right that's way it was sort of I thought it was meant to be yeah and they really but but he's a terrible detective No in fact the the whole thing is him not quite following along with what's happening it's it's like Raiders Of The Last Arc where ind's always one step behind Okay but it was

also weird like cuz he gets like a clue sent to him and then Alfred works it out goes oh yeah it's this I've been working on this with when I'm drinking my tea and this is what it is and it's all like no is it made to be the one that's going oh it means this yeah but even Alfred got it wrong at one point too cuz there's one and Matt I won't spoil it for you I want to I want to with all my heart but I won't but there's one clue that I'm like no way you got that no human being would have made that mental leap and and that's the thing like with someone that is like the The Riddler coming up with something where you have to solve the zodiac right down to the hood right but um they would they would create sort of

hints and clues or things that no one else would get because it's their thinking is sure just not possible like and you hear about this all the time where you got like there's a homeless person who's been writing in code for years and years and years and they're trying to work out people try to decipher like you're never going to get it because it's ins yeah yeah sure yeah and you know what that aspect of it I quite liked like Riddler he's not some colorful Jim Carry character he's a [ __ ] psychopath right and it's like but so is Batman Batman's not some charismatic Bruce Wayne elong mus type billionaire he's just like a weird even Bruce Wayne is not yeah um and I liked

all of that I liked all of that where I felt this failed was in the storytelling there was a lot of moments that I just didn't feel were earned and a lot of character motivations that I was like oh really like I need to ask one thing though did you wait for the post credit scene [ __ ] good no I was warned do not wait for it there is one not really not really wait so there's something but it's not something I want there's something but it's not worth hanging around at all what I could save myself what 5 minutes is that not worth it why wouldn't I tell you what it is Now Matt see tell him cuz it it means nothing at the end they but no no no actually giving telling what it is is kind of a spoiler for something that happens in the movie but it's not worth hanging around for at

the just go on Reddit you'll find it it's it's not a scene put it that way okay yeah fine guess I'll watch this but it's not a Batman the Batman will return the problem is if I want to see a movie now at the movies I need to find a babysitter and I can't be bed for this noly the right just take no because I've no because I've I've yelled at somebody for doing that before yeah here apparently they do a session at like 11:00 a.m. each day where you're allowed to bring babies and it's not kids movies it's adult movie adult movies but like basically it's like bring your baby you will hear other babies and then you you just make sure your baby can't see what's going on yeah um saw this which I think a great I saw this in Gold Class cuz I thought

that would be more socially distanced um and it and it was gold class is really great if you like watching a movie with constant interruptions oh can I get you anything almost constantly bringing drinks constant waiters walking around lights on all the time it is awful that's why I like but I still love it cuz they bring me alcohol Alamo Draft House I feel like we should all go there somehow we should all just go to Austin because they come to before you write your order down they take it before the movie starts and then at some point through the movie they'll sneak up and pop it in there and if you turn if don't turn turn your phone on turn your light on do anything they'll kick you out none of that [ __ ] which I I'm I'm all for that people who just there was

there on their phone there was a couple of people couple two dudes that were just chatting the whole movie now I think maybe one of them might have been on the Spectrum so when I got that Vibe I was like I'll cut him some slack but they were basically just giving a running commentary through the whole F senseless but Robert Batson style I told him though you're lucky you're lucky mate people love this movie though I've gone on uh I've I've gone online and people are enamored by this film yeah I also get the feeling that people like it because they've seen a movie that they're going I'm meant to like this yeah it's almost like the film is winking at you going yeah yeah I do

think that happens sometimes well I saw that they they're doing a spin-off series a penguin spin-off series I mean that's fine he one of the most underutilized characters in the film okay yeah I don't know how to feel about that cuz I haven't seen it but but I did hear that that's a thing one of the things though when I was sort of watching it was giving me it feels like it was sort of a darker version of the television show the like totally the Adam West one y no no the the Animated Series I was going to say yeah no not even better the live action series like where they play like where like the Penguin's there but he doesn't have powers and like it's just oh Gotham that one Gotham yeah yeah yeah yeah it made me feel a bit like that I've never seen

like cuz Gotham sort of set before like when Batman's a kid and stuff yes it of like wanted that as kids as well because they did Smallville and then everyone Smallville was popular so they were like well let's do Batman as well Smallville theal Super Boy the Smallville thing was always that was always a thing oh yeah but in Smallville he started flying around and stuff later on and got a bit silly and he fought brein and like characters that Superman's encountered when he was like a man so yeah I know you a Superman met you when I was a kid James Masters played Brainiac did he yeah okay that was good he's getting some work I didn't like that show I watched the first episode this about 20 years ago Luke he's not

getting I don't know what he's doing now he's not getting work not the convention long time I never saw it so for all I know it's still running it wasn't for us it's very TV so Dan you were paying attention did penguin have a sigy no no no one did did you but in the credits they do say they did not take any money from credits yeah but yeah I forgot about it I might have stuck around to the end just to see that just to see that not the post credit scene did the penguin snort coke off anybody's dick I'd love to see this is that the post credit scene don't around for it you don't want to see it mate they went way too far yeah and then it just pans up to Matt Reed and he just goes got you go yeah he didn't want to see this but now you've seen

it it's Matt Reeves's dick I fed this whole movie is me snorting cocaine off Matt Reeves's dick and Matt Reeves is loving reminded me of anyway well that's what I was doing whilst watching it so I just saw this in there what's that which one the that Jonah Hill oh yeah I just I just saw that too I I I love this Jonah Hill heard they were doing this heard there was the Riddler and went in and was like I'd love to play The Riddler and they're like we see you more as a penguin and he's like [ __ ] you no I want to play The Riddler and they're like penguin or nothing honestly I could I could I think he could have done a good ridock yeah I agree and I think he lost all that weight didn't he he did he did and I feel bad for men do not mention it to him though well yeah

because because people ask him the most inane questions like and and you can tell that he's like come on there was an interview where they were like oh do you you know do you still feel like you're the fat guy the funny guy cuz you were fat and bar these questions and he's like can we talk about something else yeah like anything else like I'm not I'm not a fat guy I'm I'm an actor like can we talk about anything other than the fact that I used to be fat for [ __ ] sake yeah yeah and it's been a while like it's not like he's just lost it or anything it's been years now but I think he could have done great job it was kind of his thing at the time like when he did those comedies and actually I don't think he I don't think he would have been right for penguin in this cuz

penguin in this is like a rough character and I think Colin Farrell although this didn't physically resemble Colin Farrell in any way at all um but he's the right kind of [ __ ] witht to play this character I think Jonah Hill is too nice sure is he like a cockney [ __ ] he's no he's he's he's [ __ ] Brooklyn oh all right cool all right he he's sort of older he's hardened from running his Empire for a long time that'd get me hard yeah all right I mean I'll watch it at some point watch it because I watch it if only to tell me if you like it or not because I want to know if you're annoyed by the things that annoyed me or whether you like the aesthetic of it

enough that you can just go n it's [ __ ] great very long I don't think I'm going to get to the movies to see this so it's going to have to be when it comes out I remember sitting there going please God will this movie End yeah good review at some point some points I'm enjoying it and then other points I'm going all right let's wrap this up like Return of the King you know Return of the King the movie ended there was five more scen oh come on when will this end it'll end when I say it's end um like there's a scene Luke where it's like it's ended the film's over everyone said their goodbyes mystery cameos have

happened and finished and then it's like am I just now watching two bike enthusiasts riding off together in a sequence that's just far too long like like that whole scene like if there was going to be a sequel or another one maybe works for a standalone movie oh they're hoping this will be a sequel for sure for sure like the last 10 minutes of this movie is basically coming to looking straight into the camera and saying Brothers yeah yeah I've got ideas let this happen is Bookworm in this [ __ ] Rony McDow wearing Giant Book suit I [ __ ] wish I wish but my favorite maybe King Tut I say King yeah no I no see Luke you alluded at this but I actually think there was some

similarity between this and the old Adam West Batman in a way and in a way this is the most comic Booky but not not those same comic books yeah cuz the comic books didn't have the tone of that show they did have the zaniness to a degree but like even the old ones you know Batman had the blue suit I don't know if he has that these days but you know he used to have a blue and gray suit and he didn't he never wore black back in back in the day when we were kids I and I read Batman but it and it did have zany characters like it had the was it the ventriloquist was it just the ventriloquist that guy yeah and but they were always they were always a bit creepy but they they hinted on something in the show in the movie so are they no sorry I interrupted your train of thought you

keep going no no no I was just going to say that the comics like I said they they like the the the TV show that you know the' 60s one or Whatever Whenever never quite captured the creepiness it just went for all the the the goofiness but the the comics always had kind of a dark Edge to them not as much as some people claim that they did CU people say oh Batman was always dark it wasn't that dark but they always have a bit of an edge ESP sure this movie is humorless though yes this movie takes itself incred seriously and and that's why I think some people are going to like it because because of that because it's taken so serious they think I have to like this otherwise yeah yeah cuz this is what people have been asking for like oh even Jonathan Nolan's

Christopher Nolan's Batman's just like oh well there was still still a bit too much light-heartedness in there like yeah right I've enough of the Wayne family as you know who my f my favorite character in yeah you have no I I love um oh you wouldn't be interested in that you know like uh oh yeah yeah yeah the the lucious Luan yeah lucious is my favorite what a luscious sorry that was the porn parody luscious Fox Bruce wayang we've talked we've I love that we've talked about this movie so much without saying really much about it but uh I would said nothing about this movie well look I haven't seen it no idea hopefully even listen who who have or have not seen the film will

still enjoy the conversation cuz like yeah I've still enjoyed this I would have Lov to have enjoyed a Bill Murray Batman movie oh yes yeah what's what's the deal with this so Bill Murray says back in the 80s he and Ivan wman wanteded to do a Batman movie where I guess it was going to be Bill Murray as Batman and a comedy there's no way that this was not going to be a comedy so I just I just wish Eddie Murphy as Robin I just wish this existed somewhere in some capacity I wish they done some screen tests or something yeah it might have just ruined it forever probably for the best that it didn't because we wouldn't have got I I I'm going to put this out there this would have been something that coming up when there was a lot of

coke around sure I think that can be said about just about any of Bill M's early career well he says they they decided to make Ghostbusters instead which fair enough that worked out pretty well that worked out pretty well [ __ ] well they probably also just worked out that that they probably weren't going to be able to do with Batman then anyway yeah no one was going to give them the Batman license Ghostbusters is so good how is it that we can't make a movie just from scratch like that like because there wasn't I mean I know it's Loosely based on a thing but not really I I think they just stole the name for it that's what I mean why can't we make movies like I mean I know that they kind of do but like come on Ghostbusters they sometimes do but yeah like instead of

doing Ghostbusters two and three and four and five like yeah give them give those same guys that came up with that yeah whatever money they want to come up with another original idea but then I guess look at the stuff I mean they get these these are all Saturday Night Live guys and then they do let Saturday Night Live people make movies and that is well now well no now they let them Saturday Night Live people do Ghostbusters that's the problem as well that didn't work out anyway yeah I just think a Bill Murray Batman directed by Ivan wman would have been a thing that I think would have been interesting but maybe it's for the best that it never happened so speaking about movies that other people wanted to make that it's probably best that they didn't happen um did Grimes ever think she was

official social media influencer promoting Dune and that would have been good that would have been a good fit I think except except for her little prank that she pulled that got some got a little too much press where she was reading the um Communist Manifesto uh and for some reason people were too [ __ ] stupid to realize that she was that was a joke she was making fun of because she had just broken up Elon Musk a billionaire yeah yes and so she's now a communist yeah exactly and it caused so much bad press that they were like sorry and she was wow didn't get to do that she says though that she would have done a really woke version that gets rid of the white savior Trope and I'm not sure Dune has a lot to offer without that that's kind of the point of

it For Better or Worse much you could really I don't understand could you really change that cuz I wouldn't have thought so without changing the entire story because it's based off a book yeah and yovi was going to change a lot of stuff not that but he was going to change a lot of stuff too and all it meant was that it just wouldn't be like the book right yeah maybe that was her plan as well yeah the the reason that the Dune movie is such a masterpiece is because Deni took a book that when most people imagine it like off the page it becomes very cheesy sure like it's words are fine but as soon as you put it into

image it's it becomes a little silly I know you yeah absolutely yeah the stuff in the book that's not in the movie and there's a good reason for that yeah I still need to ask have they started filming the second movie yet I don't think they have but they have G out there saying it's not happenening well they there's casting rumors now it's coming out next year apparently yeah and it's got I'm happy about the the casting Florence Pew as a princess she's great she's [ __ ] awesome yeah she's great I love it that they waited to the second movie to even cast that and like David Lynch his version it's like she narrates that she comes out first yeah she's like the first I mean in the book she's the chapter headings right she's she it's her memories yeah um that reminds me

enough to talk about it right now but I finally watched Hawkeye speaking of Florence oh oh what did you think [ __ ] great yeah it's really good what a great Series yeah she's great in it which is why this reminded me character is just a great character yeah but yeah what a great little series like you know uh yeah might be one of my one certainly one of my favorites of the Disney shows which is not what I expected because no and you know what you know why it's so good it's because and I like I like Loki but like it didn't play with [ __ ] the [ __ ] Masters of the Universe and all time threat no it was just one little selfcontained story very well there is there's L there's one thing about it that I feel like maybe I must have missed

something because I didn't watch all of Daredevil right so I mean we can talk about spoilers for this show it's been out for long enough Daredevil certainly has right so Kingpin is in this and I had a feeling that it was Kingpin he was talking about cuz he kept saying the big guy and all this kind of stuff it went on and they showed it V back as Kingpin and I was like oh that's great but he's just a guy except he's not clearly did I miss something when did that happen no I don't I I never watched Daredevil so I didn't read into it okay all right Fair big big and powerful man I I just I just bought it I bought it yeah fair enough I just I was just like did they ever explain why he was able to get blown up but he's fine but then whatever well in the comics no no I know that but I just did they

ever yeah it doesn't matter probably they didn't like I I just don't remember in the Daredevil show I only watched two seasons of Daredevil but at no point was he a [ __ ] superhuman so I was like oh I think they may have changed it from oh no cuz they're all tied in Lally just have been their way of saying this he's superhuman now don't worry about it just is but did he play it the same as he did in Daredevil I know it's the same so as far as I know he's the same character it's just in I did not in deadevil see him survive scenarios that like he does in Hawkeye where clearly they're telling me there's more going on here he's not just a normal man right it's not like Ryan Reynolds has played Deadpool twice but you're not meant to assume it's the same character sure

right I I got I definitely got the impression that they've now and because I know I know we don't have to talk about this too much I've seen the new Spider-Man but I know there's more to this m mhm so yeah um I have an either May something to do with that Al cuz I thought too I still haven't watched eternals or Spider-Man I thought maybe it's something in one of those movies that expl don't watch etern don't watch eternals Matt do I need to have watched the eternels to watch Spider-Man because no you need to have watched eternels to do anything just so you're aware Dan Spider-Man's available uh for watching is it that must be new checking okay great great we do get a new Marvel TV

one more piece of Dune news that I interrupted with my Hawkeye [ __ ] but uh and it's not really news news it's just the screenwriter has said maybe June part two is only the beginning m so maybe get to see super weird [ __ ] that happens later in the D the very fact that they're casting a such a prominent actor as princess irelan who doesn't really feature in the first dune book and therefore probably won't feature a whole lot in the next June movie but features very prominently in June Messiah um means that they probably planning on at least going to the third one see I don't think Beyond I don't think we know how Luke feels about the second one I can't even Luke's definitely going to be down on this one I don't think they should do it as a

movie either it should be a television series yeah they've done that though have you seen yet Luke did you watch it no no doesn't even care why are we listening to it he does care I'd only watch it for one scene sure well it's in there only scene I know yeah it's in there it's in there but it's not I with something like this I think it would be benefit from a television series where instead of having like 2 to three hours you'd have 10 hours tell normally completely agree but matter is right they did that they made it very very faithful to the book and it wasn't very good it was yeah yeah very boring but doing it today with how now that they they make TV differently yeah they make TV differently now you can have

fine in uh Blade Runner but he has done several support roles where he was really panned for his performance mhm and one of them was a comic book movie yes yeah yeah yeah I don't know he uh I mean people like him so do they yeah yeah he popular he has a whole cult following him and his band apparently yeah for his music I'm talking about his performance as an actor yeah sure well I mean those people will go see it though right yeah I guess so yeah and uh but yeah I'm I'm not going to see no interest in it he was good in American Psycho he was good in that Mr Nobody movie he's been good in and uh Rec Rec for dream he's in yeah Rec for dream he good ensemble cast American Psycho support actor again sure he's done a

perfectly good job of some of them good point I've been told and I haven't seen it because I've got no interest in watching House of Gucci but evidently his performance single-handedly ruined that entire film I think it's called House of gu yeah House of House of cooch house house of grundle um no I think yeah I think that I'm going to skip I saw the trailer and I went no I don't care for this at all and the fact that it's also it's a Sony one that Marvel's not really involved in so it's not even tied into they're doing CRA H as it'll it'll tie in it'll tie into Venom and it'll tie into Spiderman but nothing beyond that uh Craven the hunter is Russell Crow's in it I forget whether he's

to do so there's a bit of that going on um in the character does that in context of the show or just that you know the character from elsewhere and so it's confusing both so maybe maybe maybe I should just be watching it I'm trying to just watch it and and assume there a third season as well so um I'm trying to just kind of let it let it trick me and then UNT trick me if that's what it's trying to do um so I'll Reserve judgment till the end but I'm enjoying the tone of it very much alexandraa didario in it not that I know but then again I didn't know she was in Always Sunny so maybe she was in it I didn't even notice it cuz I find her I find her very common looking there I said it she's going to be very disappointed when she listens

those games it's a fairly short game and you you've pretty much just got to proceed through the game you've just got to click on the correct things until things happen um but it's dark as [ __ ] the premise without giving too much away is that four people are on a train an overnight train um during some kind of party where everyone's in masquerade and four of them don't know why they're there and have no memory of why they're there so they tell each other the story of the last thing they do remember which are these Grim as [ __ ] stories that each of them have just gone through um but it's profoundly moving um for what it is

uh interesting highly recommend if you like that sort of thing this um so in this bundle is a game that I've not played yet however I saw this and I was like [ __ ] me I need to get in I need to go down this itchy rabbit hole right because this is from the developers of a game called the shrouded which I saw at Pax and I I own on the switch which is a very good game um this game is called Lucifer within us uh and this is this is the description as a digital Exorcist working for the Church of an's Inquisition it is your duty to find Sinners and ensure continued Harmony digital demons corrupt the network cause human hosts to act on secret desires and sins even unto murder discover the one truth to determine which citizens are
