I nearly went a full year without buying a new phone welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy oh yeah so annoying now Luke you're one of the few people that only buys a phone when they actually need a phone not just because a new and better phone has come or when they accidentally click the PayPal button if you recall that happened once you didn't know that buy with PayPal meant buy with PayPal I accidentally brought my pixel 4 and then I brought a pixel 5 and I had when the pixel 6 came out I had to buy a lot sooner than I would normally because I couldn't use a pixel 5 it was just too

small so then I got the pixel 6 Pro quite happy with it doing fine would have last me another year or two MH except I went out to Hannah got a flat battery I went out to change it and I dropped my phone and it just cracked the screen and just made it not workable screens now when they break they don't it's not like when they used to break remember the iPhones where they would shatter and they still usable now they break and they're just n just not working so I had to go buy a pixel 7 you had to well I was I just went I was going to just get replaced it with just a pixel 6 Pro just get exactly the same phone but for an extra $50 I get the seven well so I spent the extra $50 I've I've uh only ever had one non iPhone which

was the pixel 4 uh it was fine but I my very next phone was back to iPhone how are the pixels these days up up to version s d it's exactly the same I yeah I I'm not at all interested in phones these days I used every time there was a new phone it used to do something that the old phones didn't do and I would get excited about it that has stopped now that well and they don't do anything different anymore they might have a better camera this the I have the what's the new the 14 pro Max and it does do one thing that is impressive but is unsurprisingly not used very often by me and that is the action camera mode where it you can run around or ride a motorbike or whatever and it'll do a steady shot that doesn't come up so often like it's I like KN that it's in

there but yeah it doesn't come up that often MH yeah yeah so this phone's going to last me two or three yeah that's my plan with this one yeah dies well I've had the 13 since the 13 was brand new and I have absolutely no interest in replacing it and certainly no interest in paying $1,000 for a new phone yeah my plan is for all this stuff like I bought this computer that's supposed to last me at least three years I bought this phone supposed to last me at least two three years hopefully my iPad's up because it's I've had this this is a 2018 iPad Pro 11 in except when I look at the the new one they don't do anything else like I watch videos on this and I check my email and I do some other stuff I you could I potentially just keep using this forever

in theory so oh you really could you really could so they're gonna have to come up with something um how long is your PS5 plan to last uh my PS5 will last me uh hopefully quite a long time cuz I don't buy PlayStation very often yeah last PlayStation I bought was a PS3 and when I say bought I meant traded a case of beer for to our friend Carl yes yeah yeah but I did buy a PS5 the other day have you played it yeah yeah God of War that war no not not yet I just wanted to see I wanted to see Spider-Man and I knew I knew Spider-Man was going to be it I knew it man it's [ __ ] of all the PlayStation exclusives could you not play that on your Nvidia passy no I don't think so Spider-Man is that on PC I'd check out Che out if I were you Sor right it's too

late um oh okay yeah no it's beautiful and the only literally the biggest thing issue that I have with with it and anything else that I tried is the controller is completely foreign to me and in particular Spider-Man it comes up and it says press X and so I'm like I'm pressing X I'm pressing X like oh X is in a [ __ ] different spot but [ __ ] thumb knows where X is [ __ ] x x is a is it yeah on the PlayStation well it doesn't have a or anything like that it's X and triangle and square don't know any of them it's completely foreign to me I'm like that when I switch over to the to the switch from the Xbox you know even just that the your back buttons the bottom one not the right but why they did that so annoying well it's because they don't owe anything to

Microsoft to keep it the same yeah but breath of the wild in particular I know other people complain about it too it's just the buttons are flipped to like every other game in the whole [ __ ] Universe CU Nintendo was like that's Nintendo they were like we were the first [ __ ] I'm not going to change you change so I haven't spent a lot of time with it but but I mean it's yeah it's pretty cool you know I mean I had a PS2 and it was probably the best console I've ever had yeah like for the time the amount of games and the quality of games that were on it I did sign so I got it and it came it came with God of War Ragnarok and I was like well i' kind of prefer to play I I want to know should I play the earlier games at all I looked it up and basically the consensus was not the

earlier ones they're completely different games different genre don't even worry about it and I was like all right fine but the one the first ones are very much like hack and slash games but this one actually has like more of a story play kind of plus you're going to you're going to enjoy the Vikings setting a little bit more right yeah cuz those ones are more Greek god and why would you buy a PlayStation 5 PlayStation so but but the previous one God of War the Whatever Whenever that came out the previous Santa Monica Studios one I was like well maybe I'll play that and I was like okay so what are all the PlayStation games I want Spider-Man God of War uh last of USS the Uncharted games um Detroit become human I was interested in playing all these

games bloodborne I'm interested in playing right so I made a list and I'm like okay there's a sale on right now let's have a look and then I see this PlayStation Plus thing and I'm like oh it's like Xbox game pass so I go in there and I'm like oh yes every single one of these games is on that list so I just signed up for that PlayStation great and I now have 10 games installed on there all I need now is time some to play so follow up next week when I say the same thing you've played slightly more of Spider-Man perhaps yeah perhaps because I have been playing Elden ring on my Xbox and I'm [ __ ] loving it so I don't know okay so tell us about Elder ring now look you've played this right did you play all the way through this elder ring God no no i'

I've played like the first hour or so and then went I do not like this game so I did that too and then I I tooted on masteron it's called tooting um I learned and said that's even dumber than tweeting honestly I had to get used to the word tweeting now I've got to hear about toots no thanks so he toots oh is it okay masteron anyway do we have to do anything just post just post on there I posted on there having a winge about it and then and people replied Master on the the I got to say I'm enjoying it like the people I think just because the server one is less populated like like it's it's kind of like I get more engagement on masteron than I ever did on Twitter simply because I don't just disappear off the bottom of all these [ __ ] celebrities and everything it's

just literally the server I on is just all tech people and it's like I actually people reply can only people on your server see you no no no but um but I mean but you're favored by the algorithm yeah well you just go to the local the local group is kind of where everyone kind of mostly hangs out seems like I'm still getting a feel but any I've gotten more rep anyway a bunch of people said stick with it because once it clicks it's quite it's very good and I was like I don't know man and so I was like fine so I played for another hour or two and then I was like oh it did click at some point and I am enjoying it now so I guess there you go that that is a thing I just don't have the time for it yeah it's I think the biggest issue is right and I'm used to play used to

games that now even like like cyber Punk all those games where it's like you can just kind of w wander in and start hitting [ __ ] and you'll probably be fine like you may have to spam the H heel button a bunch of times in Elden ring you are [ __ ] if you do that like if you try and fight more than one anything at a time you're [ __ ] even if it's like a caterpillar a [ __ ] caterpillar will kill you if you fight two of them yeah it's not to just rushing and start slashing and you have to learn you need to go in with a plan learn out com each enemy will have different attack The Shield you can't just run in and start swinging your sword around you have to use the shield learn to block learn how to do all this stuff and then and that's as a same like even like throwing the

difficulty down and trying to play it on easy it doesn't I didn't even know you could do that I don't even think you can yeah I didn't I didn't know you could if you if you can I didn't know oh I thought the whole point of this was there was no easy but there are enemies you just have to avoid them at the start you cannot possibly kill these people at the start right and but they're on the road to where you've got to go you just have to go around them and you just have to get used to the fact that that this is just how the game is right like it's an open world you can go anywhere and it'll be fine but if you see a guy who's like twice the size of you [ __ ] stay away from he will murder you because he will destroy you so yeah I mean that's my attitude when I go out to the western

suburbs of Sydney as well it's just because I'm used to you know Skyrim or even when the Bethesda games were not you know like Skyrim in particular is very like everything's leveled so you can go anywhere and well remember the um the first Fallout yeah that that the Fallout 3 that was um levels played a big part in that and if you went to areas early you would be murdered but they thing like if you went into you went into a cave and what happened so at the beginning the game you'd go into a cave and then if the enemies were too strong you'd leave and come back a little bit later but those enemies stayed at that same level that you were when you originally entered so you felt like you're a lot stronger remember that yeah but no I I I I've

tried I can't play it I just can't that too I'm just all I guess I don't want to I'm not going to pressure anybody I just thought I should mention I want you to pressure people no I just pressure Luke now Luke yeah you'll [ __ ] like it cuz I did eventually people told me I'd like it and I didn't believe them and then I did like it so oh it is the character design stuff is like very different I and maybe not so much if you played the other from software games but it's just got weird [ __ ] in it like no this does look a lot better than the Dark Soul I think I told you guys on chat I was playing and then I came across this man who was literally just a cauldron with arms and he was stuck in the ground and he was like oh can you

help me out so I helped him by like bashing him until he came out of the ground and he was like oh thanks I'm off to the [ __ ] Coliseum to fight in the as a gladiator see you later and like the [ __ ] is this game like it feels very like you're talking me into it it it's cool like that it's you know like old games were just weird like that and it's like it's not going to explain why why is it a cauldron who knows who cares he just is a cauldron Man actually I didn't even make it far enough to meet cauldron man I've been playing the Xbox a little bit this week much more than I have for the past year uh cuz I finally found something that just really syned its hook in me and that's pent ah P's great and it did take me actually a little bit to decide that I liked it because it was

a little bit wasn't the oddness of it it was just it didn't feel like there was much to do sure and in terms of actual like gaming Loop there's not a lot to do yeah but it's enthralling now Luke this is essentially a book this is more of a book than any other game I've ever played this is this is choose your own would have book isum which Luke also hates also didn't quite I didn't hate that it's a game if I had have played it like 10 years ago 15 years ago like when I would have loved like the original fallouts love those games to death now but actually this also has no voice acting like disco alium originally correct yeah uh but it's much well I was going to say it's easier to read but I suppose it's not in a way

because it's the you got to pick the right font well I I went I went all out I was like just [ __ ] font me [ __ ] just come at me with whatever you got I like how it does that and as you learn more things about people their font changes this guy's actually quite smart and he becomes like more the font gets more scrip yeah that's right but also like when you're talking to the printer his oh yeah font prints in instead of subcribing it yeah yeah it's clever yeah it's it's really it's really very interesting um and far more interesting than it has any right to be considering the content of it yeah it's quite simp I you said lastek like why why would you care about what peasants are doing and their relation to the church yeah but you do though because you get to know

them yeah and in hearing Andreas your you play as winge about his issues you're like yeah and then very careful not to talk to anyone about my [ __ ] and then even at points he's like no my problems don't seem as bad as these [ __ ] poor people yeah yeah mate shut up that's right I'm getting paid too much money to paint painting I hate my job people asking me to pay me tons and tons of money to paint things it sucks yeah um I did have one moment though and I don't I I I have a feeling maybe many people do and maybe that's the point and in fact I don't even know if you can correctly solve that first murder but when the first murder concluded I considered restarting the game because I thought I'd done it all wrong and it was kind of reminded me of

the first time I played through um Mass Effect 2 and I pretty much let everyone on the Normandy die and um and then went back and did it again yeah but but I've pushed on and I've since realized that actually getting it wrong as kind of part of it yeah I think you're supposed to always feel like oh did I do the right thing like oh did I did I should I have done that kind of thing and you're just always supposed to feel like that yeah someone always hates you that's the game yes well the and the people who hate you kind of changes the story somewhat that's the point yeah you're right there's always there's always one or more people that are pissed off at you for some reason and that's what makes it interesting and I'm actually the first this is my first but you've did you

complete a second place I because um I got to so you had said that I had the same experience with you I finished act one and I was like oh I don't feel like I actually explored as much as I even could have in the limited time you do have cuz I didn't quite understand the game loop at the time and I continued on anyway and then I was like I want to play again because I feel like particularly act one I could have done more and I did that the second time and I was like okay yeah um and then I got into act two and I think I got most of the way through act two and then I was like okay I did exhaustively play through this act the second time and so now I'm kind of feeling like I need a break sure so so I have I I will continue did

you what just without spoiling it did a more exhaustive playthrough of Act One change act two dramatically or not it did but I was more so you basically if you want to know for sure or as much information as possible about a suspect you kind of have to commit to that suspect to get as much as info as you can and you're not going to learn much about the others like there's just not enough time to to and I'm I'm not sure you can ever be 100% certain about anybody like maybe maybe I'm wrong um but I don't think so yeah yeah got it yeah okay cool and I honestly Sometimes some of the things I'm like the more I time I spend on this the less I'm

convinced I should be even [ __ ] looking at this guy like yeah correct I think I think I think it's all by Design that's how the game is supposed to be and then because you can I might give another try you can just not even say anything when they ask you who do you think did it you just go I don't know and then see yeah that's what I thinking actually yeah they take your advice under advisement but it's their decision you could just not tell them anything that's that's that's well I ended up telling them about a couple of people but keeping a couple of other people's Secrets secret and then they just made up their own mind I was like oh okay you went with you went with that guy I was actually quite shocked by what happened in act one the first time I played

through I was like oh [ __ ] that's so was I yeah wait I was like no you didn't do that because of what I said right because exactly I was like why didn't tell you to do that yeah I just said he was a bit Shifty I didn't say the second playthrough I was like you need to this this is the guy that did it because I was I just wanted to see what would happen yeah sure sure yeah no it's a good game Jenna just finished it as well yeah but she doesn't mind reading so that's right I quite like reading so this has worked out reading you miss it well read this game what you could do might reind you can choose you can choose for the whole thing to just be in Times New Roman if you don't want to look at all the gothic fonts that's true

I only do comic SS they don't have a mode for that although it's it is Microsoft Studios and they do own that font so they missed a big opportunity do fonts enter public domain after 100 years I actually don't think you can copyright a font uh I forget where I heard this recently I think you can copyright the the font as in the file like the true type font file as in you could have a copyright on the file itself but once it becomes like used in something like if I have a an image that I used a font in you have you can't do anything about it if I used your font because it's no longer good listeners don't don't get sued on my behalf I'm not a lawyer but that my understanding is that you can't copyright a font as such you could get

done for software piracy if you had a font you didn't pay for but if you used the font you could not be done for copyright infringment actually that leads into something sell you can't sell a font that you don't that you desire right of course yeah that leads a little bit into something I want to ask you guys about because I got um had a conversation with a listener this week because we had been talking about the AI avatars and stuff and there's been a lot of discussion about this lately and I think it's very interesting and so I just wanted to see what do you guys think about all this and what I mean is in the context of you got these AIS doing this artwork and they're training them on other people's art existing artwork correct and and

people artists have understandably been a bit not bit conc some of are very worried about this right because you're teaching this thing to copy my artwork it's literal plagiarism Yeah well yeah well it depends though right well that's what I want to talk about right so people are very upset about it understandably and yeah what's your opinion on it just first of all It's tricky because I'm interested sort of like CU other artists can be influenced by other there's an argument that the AI is just that but it's a bit different person it's a it's software of person and it's being fed this information yes by a person by a personably cuz I keep thinking who instead making money good arguments on both sides and I think but most of the time it literally always

boils down to it's just the fact that it's not a being that's doing it because if I said to you all right I'm going to teach you what superheroes are and I showed you all the Marvel movies and a bunch of Marvel Comics and I said all right go to invent a superhero and you came out with a superhero that's not copyright infringement right well it depends no how close it was to an existing hero and I think that's where the line is because some of these artworks look exactly like the style of artwork specific in that case I definitely don't think that's like like I think the same rule should apply that apply to human created artwork like we do like yeah correct but but it also depends on how you use it because

somebody like I mean the ones we've enjoyed the most are the ones where they say Wes Anderson does the X-Men that would be copyright infringement right if anyone's making money off of that yeah for entertainment purposes I like but yes I don't I definitely don't agree that they should have a computer generate a movie based on that prompt and then they should be able to release that movie and make money off it no that's nonsense well I had this conversation one of my neighbors works for canva and uh he was telling us the other day about his AI tool where you can just kind of type in something that you want to see and suddenly you'll see it and I jokingly said yeah providing somebody else has done something similar that it can copy and uh and he was like

doesn't copy Dan doesn't copy it creates a unique piece of artwork I'm like okay all right well we won't get into it I'm sit here andg about this with you but I but I find that the line of of influence versus plagiarism is is tricky anyway there was one there was one artist who who took a photo of a house with a I think had a porch swing and and a dog sitting there and another artist went to the same house rented the same house set it up exactly like it took a picture and got sued by the first artist he was like how can you sue me if for taking a photo my photo you didn't take it I took it and he was like you made it exactly like mine he's like but who cares like did he so where where is the line like and I think I think this has made a very good argument like you

said because you could dramatically say robots are stealing our art which sounds like something we need to really deal with but I think this that fine line has always been there but here's another thing so cuz it gets a gets fed all this and now you guys done a lot of people got they've spent that $3 and got so many photos MH for an actual artist to go and draw that photo make that thing for they're not going to charge that $3 they're going to make you one photo and that's going to cost I could have given an artist 20 photos and me 10 minutes later had 200 avatars that they had come up with yeah but that's the same argument that people had at the Industrial Revolution when we said we're going to fire 200 people and get a machine instead that's another thing

keep coming back to is it's just yeah exactly right it sounds like and to be clear I'm not I'm not [ __ ] on arts or anything like that I have massive respect for art that's a particularly Visual Arts is something I'm not very good at um I I can do music and they have AIS that do that too and that that worries me but on the other hand I'm like I mean we have laws for this stuff anyway right so the computer creates a thing that's literally just the the interstellar soundtrack well then Han Zimmer can sue like yeah correct and and also especially if that person has typed in make this sound like Han Zimmer right no but what what I'm saying but you can make something sound like Han Zimmer like there is there are ways to do that right so as long as it it obeys the

rules yeah we're we're less likely to have new artists come along I know it's kind of eliminating a job basically which is but but again that's that's what happens over time but no but remember that was a little bit different so that eliminating job was s of manufacturing doing stuff this is eliminating creativity yeah but what's the difference it's not though because it's replacing creativity with a different kind of creativity no no no but that that that AI learned from what others why is creativity protected arbitrarily versus the I'm not saying it's protected I'm just saying we lose that creativity oh yeah yeah yeah oh no I mean I'm like cuz people aren't going to go out and create if there's to be clear I'm not saying this is a good

thing I just think interesting thing like I'm not I'm not I don't know if it's it's necessarily good or bad because I think when we didn't have Photoshop we had to literally cut out things and shine a light on them to make a drop shadow right on transparencies now we have tools that let us do this maybe this is just the next tool and maybe you still will need artists and right now you you can say create this for me and it will but if you want to do anything with any amount of nuance you'll still need a human operator to know what to type in surely yeah but I don't know that you would eventually I think that's I mean right now I'm sure but I mean what again I could come back to what's the difference between a person watching you you know you know you make films

you've seen how God knows how many films and you were influenced by films your films are a result of you learning and being trained on the films you've seen like you can't help it's machine learning but organically yeah I don't know no no it's a very very valid point and because I know people are saying they want to be able to oh actually they don't want to be able to opt out they want to this you can't put people's artwork in to train these AIS is what what they want because what's that company one of the companies came out and said you can now contact us and say I want to opt out and we'll remove your artwork and then people are like no no no it's not opt out it in yeah but but you did opt in because you created artwork that youhere so I'm looking at it why can't

the computer look at it that's that's M I'm influenced by it yeah yeah that's very interesting I I do know that there's been at least some litigation so far so somebody created a comic book right and using AI to do the art and then tried to trademark that and we're told you cannot you don't own you didn't create this art oh interesting because the the human didn't create it they couldn't copyright it yeah but but but people made the AI did they that they own it is that one of the things that I doubt it I doubt the to undermining my argument is that like the if the creative force is not the AI itself that's a good point like who would earn the copyright the AI would this reminds me of when that monkey took that selfie yeah right cuz what I'm saying weird as

it sounds what I'm saying is what's the difference between a human doing it and a computer doing it but then if we're talking about the the computer's not going to own it well it's like well hang on a minute that's different then so yeah that does undermine my argument but but can I go into the pton office and be like I'd like to register for a trade Mark for my computer for the artwork that my computer produces yeah or like if if lra paints something can I go in and go I'd like to copyright this my daughter made it and I made her so yeah yeah yeah and then your mom comes in and Snipes it and takes all your money just going to the h family yeah yeah I I think this is going to be a lot of arguing I think there's going to be

court cases and a lot of aru I think this is going to be like kind of birth of the internet where people wasn't sure yeah how the law worked in cyberspace I think this is going to be still don't yeah true I think this happened really quickly too and I guess one of my it got good very quickly one of the questions I have my argument is also undermined by like I don't have a huge technical knowledge of how these things work versus how a human brain works right obviously like listeners don't be fooled I don't know these things so when I say I don't know the difference that's because I'm that's because my favorite film is Blade Runner and so when you tell me that an artificial intelligence has done something I want to defend it so yeah and I want to say maybe that AI

doesn't even know it's AI maybe it thinks it's human so I may beting Human Than Human I may be being weird about it because of that I'll be honest let's ask the AI ask that what's that chat GPD thing let's get it that thing is going to convince you for sure it's a genius mhm that's scary too hot robot from XM sure she'll tell you she'll set you straight which one true very true I think you're right though this happened very quickly because earlier this year I downloaded an AI artwork app and started putting stuff into it and it was fun for a day and a half but only if you like bizarre abstract art yeah remember when I first started seeing mid Journey horror generated stuff and I and I was like oh God my eyes can't even comend what I'm looking at so that's

what this was like but I was typing in things like a Wells right and then I was just getting bizarre and it was literally taking bits of photos of a and Wells from 100 years worth of imagery yes and just smooshing them into an original in a way that no human mind would ever think to do so correct no same human mind yeah that's right um but this is not that because like we've said the things that we did lenzo or whatever it's called last week looks like me just made it was like hey Dan want to be hot here's what it would look like if you were stop picking up that cat I can pick up my cat however I want she likes it but here's the thing right because I think you mentioned films Matt and there is AI to write films now it's happened it already

exists and I would say that the era of original screenwriting has long passed in fact may not have even existed because I watched a there's a great old film called Sunset Boulevard which was made in the' 40s which is what 20 to 30 years after film was invented which already talks about how films are just cookie cutters from Studios make turning out the same thing right and that was that's 80 years ago now right so there may never have been any originality but they definitely isn't now every film I go and see is the exact same script structure as every other film that see at the moment right Joseph yeah well exactly right um and then just boil down until it's just exact it's Chris Pratt he has to go back in time to

save every movie is the same now even AI movies they would all Bei wrote a movie yes exactly right Mario something like that something insane like that correct so what I'm saying is as a viewer of the art I wouldn't notice the difference if an AI started writing a film or if a if if a staff writer at a studio who just knew exactly what he was expected to write started writing a film so as the experience wouldn't change I think Luke is right what he says only the artist suffers here only the person who has no creative Outlet anymore suffers whether that's relevant or not well that's another I'm just interested in I don't disagree with that and I don't think you know I'm not saying that's a good thing but I also I don't see what is the difference between that and someone who lost their

job because they used to manufacture or they they had a particular steel working skill that's just not required anymore like no difference as far as I'm concerned I still see a difference okay I think that yeah okay I mean can you can you articulate what it is I'm just curious labor and creativity are two different things like yes like the still M thing yes they train for that all their job and losing that and then having to retrain that is but creativity don't how sure yeah but I learned how I guess that's the difference is that no you you still got that I just learned it the same way you learn or something I can problematize this because Matt learned it you could learn it yes Matt might still be better at it that's cuz I learned it that's

only in the eye of the beholder yeah true yeah I might like Matt's music someone else might like your music Luke do you know what I mean no I still think with with you might be right that with creative people that there there is something that clicks like even from a young age like people can pick up and play instruments pick up music or that's the same with laor just things like that like I can't do that [ __ ] like because it doesn't click with me but other people I think I could train you to I think I could train you to labor a lot easier than you could train me to do art only because you'd be like Kicking and Screaming this is a challenge I'm willing to [Laughter] get luk is going to put me in labor Yep this is this is this is very interesting

though this is this is an interesting debate and I this is kind of the nature argument all over again and nobody the podast say it looks like let's move on fine let's move on to something fun let's move on to the Rock and the fact that James gun has fired him okay James fired a lot of people so let's surprised luk thinks that's fun but I uh I Happ to discuss it yeah I just think that James's got a lot of balls so he um I think lenza knows we're talking about it oh my God I think they've said oh maybe Black Adam will come back later but for now he's just I mean he's effectively been fired for now but I think that's what happened to Henry caval as well I don't think they NE necessarily said you will never play Superman again I think they

Adam update regarding characters and future of new DC James G and VI connected so he's sort of making out that they got together and they agreed on this no you fight yeah I don't think long waited no one saw Black Adam yeah I I didn't know he was a character this other article says that they had to when when they first shot Black Adam it was so bad that they had to SP $7 million re-shooting it oh God I know the bu of the film is way more than everyone thought it was in that I've seen so many movies where they're like oh this was awful before the re-shoot and I'm like M it was awful after the re-shoot yeah what the [ __ ] was it like before I want to see Rogue one re-shoot that's what I want to see so do I you

never will you never will Star Wars doesn't go remember Rogue one there was a a thing in a trailer where it looked like she was going to be fighting a TIE fighter you remember that comat against a die fighter yeah yeah mind you I think Gareth Edwards did come out and say honestly I just did that shot for fun yeah yeah no apparently did a lot of those that's a lot of trailer shots were just like oh these lights look amazing and they [ __ ] did mind you you're not allowed to do that now and we can talk about that later oh good point yeah we have an article about that but yeah so yeah com James gun you fired him and I don't I still haven't seen Black Adam I have no interest in seeing no I just I mean I've heard that it's not a good movie so why would I bother when I'm not

I wasn't interested to begin with I've certainly not become interested I would literally only watch this to see Henry Cav he's at the end you can just watch the end credits probably so I'm very interested to see what James G's got plann since he's now fired everyone yeah essentially we still don't have official word on some of them right like I don't know scal could have been fired officially she official but she has been removed from the Flash all her scenes have has been canell oh that's a good point but Wonder Woman three wasn't canceled because of her it was apparently canel because Patty j i although I if they're gonna have a younger Superman oh wait no because the she's old yeah but the Amazon don't age the same she's always that's what I mean

so you could have a young Superman you could set Superman in the 30s where it began and still have galard Superman ages so he's just he will die eventually so the death of Superman is just just hang just wait he ages the same as a human he ages the same as a regular human yeah oh somebody's figured this out somebody's done this but but look I think one I don't think they'll fire gado I think she'll be one of the ones that stay they have not officially fired that we know of right he's can't imagine but I also James go on a minute after how can release this movie I know with with I think this is because this is flash point which resets it all for them and they've got this movie

that start from I have to see it they can't cancel it as much as I [ __ ] hate Ezra Miller no I agree I have I I always hated Ezra Miller and I'd only seen him in bit parts and things and I just always thought he was a smug little [ __ ] and I never liked watching him um but then when I watched that's what they are yeah but when I saw Justice League he was the best part about it yeah like I thought that was an awful movie and I was surprised how much I liked the flash look the reason why I think it's definitely going to come out we' have not heard anything from Ezra Miller weeks like I think they they've they locked away you're going to go get help stop doing all this

[ __ ] proof that the movie will come out because they can say his we fixed him like we we acknowledge that he was a bastard and we've not any women in months but I'm also pretty sure they don't they're not going to fire him before the movie comes out though because that's bad pre fire in second that out literally everybody has been winging at James gun saying why the [ __ ] would I go see any of these movies now and it's like I mean that's fair but you don't just go see movies because you like them I thought you lik these I thought you people lik these movies yeah yeah yeah that's right well no not not not really no but here's the thing like I think enough people liked the

Batman but it's not part of the DCU right lik Joker it's also not part of DC EU but there's going to be a Batman in the DC EU I assume there'll be a Batman and then there'll be the Batman it's two separate things yeah art Batman yeah like like the Joker there's Joker and then and the there's other Jokers yeah one of the jok they'll tid you all that up for sure yeah for sure I don't think so I think they're going to stick with their standal loans as well he said that they weren't going to do that I think he I think he may have there's some of some of them that can't be stopped at this point like the one with Lady Gaga that's it's too late cat's out of the bag and I think same with um I think the the Batman sequel people are up for that so

he might still do it but he did say after that it's all going to be a coherent world so maybe he will just get to be bman cuz that's cuz that's the one stupid thing that they've got they've got the scen movies the DC mov and then the TV all that's exactly what J say he said it's ridiculous he's doing away with all that it's all going to be consistent it is a bit silly in that um Marvel does it so well yeah like linking everything except for that one movie with um I feel like DC always does this though because they did the back in the 2000s where they they're like oh these Comics are a [ __ ] mess because we've got [ __ ] everywhere let's reset and then they reset and then immediately started doing it again they write too many coms and the thing is

with Comics is that you you have to be able to change the story or you've got nowhere to go with your writing like Batman punch that guy again but look look the only thing advice I've got for James gun is don't rush it Marvel didn't do Marvel by starting off with Avengers corre that took them years to get there where yeah so start build your universe and in fact they did Iron Man I mean you arguably Iron Man was the first gateway into Marvel there would been others but Iron Man was the one and you wouldn't have said Iron Man was the Batman or Superman of the Marvel Universe like they they took a lessonn character and just made a fantastic movie out of it then they went and did a Thor which was also a great movie and then they did a couple more and then they did Avengers

and remember I remember seeing Iron Man at the theater and then the post credit sequence where Samuel Jackson shows up and says I'm putting together a team and I was like what the [ __ ] they can't how how is that going to work the team of what yeah no like about the aveng how are they come on that's not going to happen and then they do then they got oh it's chisworth is Thor and then they got all these [ __ ] and I remember having a conversation on this very podcast where back whenever when before Avengers came out where we were like they're never going to get all these people to be in a movie together like how they're never going get Chris EV chisworth Danny never going to happen and now look at like look at the fuing cast of those movies like now it's

well now that's just ask qu and tarantin that's right yeah well they are movie stars cuz people go to the movies [ __ ] no's you cannot tell me that Scarlett Johansson is not a movie star the Robert Downey Jr is not a movie star that Chris Evans is not a movie star I'm not going to try movies are different accept it I am very keen to see what James gun does with DC because actually I love the DC characters I love them more than the Marvel characters I'll admit it I do uh they just haven't been any good ones lately except for I mean all the all the Batmans have been good yeah uh other than the schumak ones uh it's hard to [ __ ] Batman but he did he did yeah George Clooney um someone else [ __ ] char ass laughing at you so a lot of DC a lot of Zack Snider fans are mad at

James gun and someone else who's mad at James gun is Ray Fisher what's James gun done him this is a bit interesting right so we've talked about how Ray Fisher got [ __ ] over by one of Brothers he had a bigger role as Cyborg and he he I think his his opinion is that because he's black they just were like cut him out of the movie we don't give a [ __ ] which sucks I know it wasn't I think he he definitely has accused them of being racist and reducing his role and his autonomy because of because of it right it's fair you know I'm not who might say look I haven't had someone be racist Against Me Maybe when you do you know it yeah and so James gun came out at the time in support of Ray Fisher and said that's awful you know support you 100% all that kind of stuff right on

Twitter and recently Ray Fisher come out and cuz you know James gun's taken over head a DC and that kind of stuff and um Rish is mad at him because those tweets have been deleted tweets where he came out in support of Ray Fisher and then James gun came out tweeted and said Ray all my old tweets get deleted now automatically it's nothing to do with you mate nothing like yeah I got like oh yeah of course he does cuz he got [ __ ] yeah he got roasted over the coals for what he said so I guess he must have some script that just deletes or at the very least personal assistant yeah yeah who just deletes all these old tweets after a certain period of time so I think this might end up being the nothing but um yeah also and I apologize

to Rey I'm sure you're a lovely man and I'm sure you're actually quite a talented actor you got the job in the first place but your character was boring as all [ __ ] now maybe you could say that's because all your good scenes were cut out and if that's the case also I apologize for that that sucks for you you were theor in theor movie you can't to be brought even that James gun's back now so he definitely has in the SN cut his role is greatly expanded and is much more interesting and so I 100% can understand why he was pissed off with what Jos W did and or J and whoever the producers at Warner Brothers who [ __ ] him over I don't know why they did it um yeah potentially it is because because they're racist like and that's [ __ ] uh I think think got James no and it's got

more to do with the fact that if you swap a director you have to shoot more than 50% of the film with that new director or there's legal implications for the original director so he probably scrapped a lot of the other cast as well scenes that they had shot to and well yeah remember well cuz how long is just Le when it came out because remember did go back to being a 4our movie correct yeah yeah unwatchable in one sitting in my opinion I thought the first one was unwatchable but for a completely different reason yeah I did watch it in one sitting the four hours I liked it a lot better I yeah I liked it better too yeah I mean it wasn't still was my favorite movie it wasn't great but it was better I put on um Man of Steel this week I didn't watch it all because it's

incredibly boring in many ways which is a shame because the bits that are good are very good and he Henry caval is excellent and actually I like Snider's point of view of Superman as a god like I like I like that he didn't do it very well and there was way too much of that movie set on Krypton yeah Russell Crow dragons Etc and too much way too much Russell Crow but hey you pay for Russell Crow you want to get him in there as much as you can yeah mate from now on Russell Crow is Zeus to me and no one else yeah mate mate you are this close to not coming to the ory I still don't believe they let him do that accent I've noticed I see every every time people mention that movie they're like negative about it I'm like I liked that movie what yeah I liked it

too yeah use it as an example of how Marvel's not perfect and how they make mistakes and I'm like I thought that it's far from the worse use eternal it Eternal like people think eternals is better than that I'm so conf confused yeah I do not understand that at all I mean Age of Ultron isn't all that good you know what I mean like there's there's a few in there that just aren't all that good that's good point yeah yeah you watch them because they fill in the gaps and you but not everything could be civil war Iron Man 3 is uh [ __ ] off yeah exactly Ben is amazing in it but he's not in it very much no but I love that they brought him back 10 years later he was [ __ ] amazing and Sh actually shangi is a better movie than IR Man 3 and it's got

that character in it correct so good I actually didn't think Iron Man 2 was all that good if I'm being completely honest no yeah I would agree with that I think it's better than three in my opinion I think that's I think I'm in the minority better than three it diminishes no no no it goes one two three for sure yes not all the THS are the same but they're not the same like the dark world is nothing like the original Thor and they're nothing like I like dark world and I know that that's very unpopular opinion people really didn't like that the actors in it didn't like it do people like any of these movies yeah I know if everyone's just spend so much time complaining someone's going to see him [ __ ] elbow and Christopher Plumber Christopher

Christopher Christopher Plumber also [ __ ] hates it can't get him to shut up about it you're all right Chris yeah he's passed now has he he has yeah yeah yeah we got a long list of Geeks of the week this week do we well candidates C you look we' we've done the thing that we always do we come back after one week break with way too much content and then just crap on about one or two things I know almost an entire episode we've we've got about 10 minutes to go do we want to move to something like geek of the week do is there anything we should mention this is actually followup that I I didn't put it under followup and I forgot but you have mentioned it already so we should touch on it briefly and that is that Studios um have could potentially be sued now if trailers are

too deceptive and I when I read the headline I was thinking oh something to do with you remember in the Marvel trailers where they put Hulk there but Hulk wasn't actually in that scene and like kind of stuff it's not that it's that movie we talked about where Ana deas was in the trailer but they cut her out of the movie like those people might win the case yeah so the judge has allowed them to move forward with this class action lawsuit seems insane of everyone who bought a ticket to this movie because they wanted to see some sweet Anna arm action I mean I understand but come on yeah I can it just seem C but no I don't have a problem with them going through well I want the cost of the tissues and the personal lubricant

covered but I don't know it seems sort of fair like person advertise it with this and then you remove them from it that's what Dan turns around and says to everybody in the theater before the movie starts anybody let you know this not just for me I've brought enough to go around um I remember when I was a kid cuz they used to always cut the trailers early and they used to cut trailers off of work prints put them out I mean you've seen the original Star Wars trailer looks nothing like the final movie the original Batman 89 trailer looks totally different to Batman's got different takes different shots you've never seen and stuff it used to just be stock standard now I've cut trailers right and then I've had to come and

recut them because the producers gone oh we removed that shot from the show so you have to remove it from the trailer people have very careful now to not misrepresent yeah right well they'll be moreful now guess yeah yeah that's right now that you can literally be sued well Rogue one is a good example of this phenomenon as well because the Rogue one trailers had tons of stuff in in them that wasn't in the movie like there's the famously the shot of all of them running along the beach and she's got the data Cube [ __ ] thing and so it's like yeah literally just [ __ ] leing the whole end of the movie was clearly different because they got out of that Tower with the stuff so yeah yeah but two two factors number one he admitted he shot cool stuff just for the trailer and

number two they fired him in between that trailer coming out and them doing re-shoot and a reedit and number three the people in those shots were still in the rest of the movie they didn't disappear from the whole thing yeah no but if you'd going to see Rogan just because you wanted to see her Square Off Mano am Mano against a TIE fighter that TIE fighter show [ __ ] this tissu my I'm dying to see this fter I will jerk anyone in this Cinema off while I watch that yeah and in that shot there's just no TIE fighter blue balls just oh God I keep thinking of the last episode of the first season of um Silicon Valley where he's talking to that reporter and he was like I can joke

off anyone in this room and I can prove it yeah that a great show had the algorithm for how many people you could jerk off in yeah yeah that's amazing show I saw an interview with that guy you know how was it TJ TJ Miller is that his name he um kind of went off the rails if you recall and apparently was horribly abusive or allegedly horribly abusive um and he said he had some [ __ ] brain injury oh [ __ ] and uh I mean again I don't want to make excuses for the man like but I did make me go oh interesting did you hear that story you know what listeners if you want to hear this story Go On Through To patreon.com yes subscribe uh for the $10 a month tier and and you can have the Afterparty each week where we talk about the stuff that

that just seems gross to me I don't I don't like them why why would I want to put them in there and then Flash 5 years in the future where this this just [ __ ] lited with ads someone someone me say this and has been interrupted by an ad here's the thing I don't mind and in fact maim bam the best part of that show was when they did the ads because they do always they do the same thing that's what I want to do if we can but I've had a couple of podcasts that I've literally stopped listening to because the ads have taken over and I don't know what algorithm or what in turn chooses the ads but like I'll be they they always add for other podcasts and it's always like are you black are you a woman well then listen to this I'm like man what happened to Target marketing you

know you tick the wrong box man that's the problem yeah I ticking all the wrong boxes yeah so we we we can um where we host the show I can go in and say it'll show me the waveform and I can go this is where you put ads this is put ads here I think makes me wonder do the people posting these podcasts not go in and choose an appropriate spot or what the [ __ ] is going on there because that's that's my other question I think I have some control over that but again like I said I don't want to do any of that if we don't have we don't have to we don't have to we have patrons they're [ __ ] supporters we don't need to worry about this it's just you know if we can get some that we read ourselves I think a that would be fun yeah hopefully we can make them
