Flash Bomb: The Flash Box Office Flop & Indiana Jones Temple of Doom

I've worked out my new kitten is trying to hunt me and sucks at it I thought you were going to say hunt you and suck you yeah I was disappointed with the finale as well welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy but yeah so she'll hide at the bottom of the stairs with her eyes poking over the top of the stairs so she thinks she's really well hidden but I'm at the top of the stairs and can see down and can see her entire body yeah I don't have the tell her I can see everything I just don't have the tell her she's not good at it so I'm still in

Vermont as you no doubt notice if you're watching do you have a Vermont cat or do you take your do you take your Rhode Island cat to no we we brought pets up because we knew we were going to be here for a longer period of time and Grim the little black cat now just lies at the top of the stairs don't call it that he lies at the top of the stairs which I'm like that's it just he just doesn't give a [ __ ] about us at all he's like I know trip over me I don't give a [ __ ] that's yeah um in my mind Grim is still a tiny little kitten I assume he's a fully grown cat now he is is small like he even it's funny actually because Atlas the other cat is small right compared to normal cats Grim is smaller than him yeah yeah in my head he's which is why he's um he's very um food aggressive

I think because he was a runt oh sure you had to fight for what he needed you know why you look me when you said that offended you don't know where I'm looking yeah I do more the Afterparty look some stuff's happened this week um that I want to talk about um okay first off I started watching Silo good call Matt that show is excellent I finished watching I watched the finale keep watching yeah I've got two more to go yeah I'm gonna start watching it tonight because I things that scene where they've got to get the boiler fixed in a certain period of time was one of the most tense things I've ever seen in a TV show yeah it's really good it like like little just gives you little crumbs you know every episode

gives you little crumbs and you're like what is going on here it gives you just enough because I've just recently finished the second season of from uh which is also very good and I enjoy it very much however it doesn't give you any [ __ ] crumbs like at the end of each episode it's just like guess what but you still don't know anything so it's it's it's nice to know that because the clues are left for you you know the writers know where this is going yeah and the fact that it's already been there's already a second season coming so you know you're not going to ref and it's based on um based on some books I think short now we gonna be tempted to read ahead no see that's I it's I can't now I'm too invested in the show like yeah I don't want to I don't want

anything spoiled because I like I I like the way that it's it's doing this agreed all right I will start watching tonight and I'll let you know if I like it does sound like I'm going to like it I would be surprised if you didn't at this point it's very good yeah it's got It's got shades of Fallout shades of just you know um it's just good Sci-Fi kind of got lightsabers there's no lightsabers there's no's no pretend there are barely anything plugs in in fact they have a torch Tim Robbins in it Tim Robbins is great in it Tim Robbins is everyone's good although um yeah yeah uh Rebecca Ferguson is that her name Ferguson her accent a bit she she slips in and out of her accent sometimes sometimes she gets a little bit Emerald is again but uh she's doing pretty good sometimes you

got to let stuff go otherwise finding stuff make her performance is great it's just thoroughly unlikable like you know what I mean like she goes out of her way to to make you know that her character is disinterested in everything you want her to do in the show you know yeah and uh but she's a miserable character but just in a in a great way yeah very good it's very compelling awesome I watched a movie with uh one of the actors from this s just coincidentally we have to talk about it right now but uh we'll get to it I'm sure we we can there's nothing stopping us okay well I don't have a whole lot to say I don't even know if you guys have seen it but I could just for some reason no I can tell you why on um are you familiar with the one bag Movement we don't have to go deep into

but so is this a shopping center thing no no no it's like just you know Airlines charged through the ass for baggage and stuff like that so there's movement now to just try and get everything you can into a personal item but when you're traveling particularly domestically correct you just take the minimal amount of [ __ ] you need that kind of stuff and somebody in the in the that's a movement there's a movement based on this now yeah there's a subreddit called one bag and somebody in there started a thread about Jack Reacher because oh sure the character of Jack Reacher travels only with what's in his pocket and he just stops in at a um you know a like a secondhand store and gets new

clothes when he needs them and then Dums the old clothes in the bin to donate them on mhm and I was like oh that sounds interesting he has one set of clothes at any given time corre at any one time any given time correct every time he needs to change clothes he literally jettison that article of clothing corre replaces it yeah he has his passport and he's ex-military policeman and he came back from Iraq and that's just what he does now he travels on buses because it means he doesn't need a driver's license or any particular idea he's got his passport which is expired he uses that and it's I was like that sounds quite interesting so the that I watched the movie it's it's actually the first time does sound interesting I think I've seen this I

remember liking it it's is it Ralph mcar the guy's doing all the mission Impossibles now it's him and Tom Cruz right he directed Christopher MC right Ralph MC that's it Star Wars arti Star Wars concept artist you're right good point so so that I was like okay that's also interesting anyway so the plot of this film is Tom Cruz plays Jack Reacher he's an ex MP who who um busted this sniper in Iraq for shooting a bunch of civilians cuz he didn't get to shoot anybody while he was over there oh so have a bit of fun before he went home he like I want to kill someone while I'm here they busted him in Iraq and then this there's a mass shooting in uh I forget the state but anyway and then

this guy gets busted for it and then all he writes on the piece of paper is get me Jack Reacher and then he gets put in lock up and they beat him up and he gets put into a coma Tom Cruz turns up and he's like yeah I don't think this guy did it and then he goes from there pretty good okay okay very seen this but none of this rings a bell maybe I'll have to give this he's upset at Jack for busting him he's going I want dra to Pro he just knows he'll figure it out because he busted in and he's honest and will do the right thing yeah yeah yeah he said yeah I think he says I don't yeah the point is that he knows Jack Reacher will just get the truth yeah okay also based on a series of books right yes correct y yep not the first book like the fifth book okay or

something right yeah but they're independent I mean guess that's like James Bond right yeah Dr was arbitrarily picked as the first one well this guy literally just travels around America on buses and gets involved in [ __ ] I guess Tom Cruz that is gets yeah gets so so he's like the 18 or Kung Fu or but anyway the guy from the sheriff from Silo is the the first sheriff correct is sorry spers remember you can't spoil anything for me okay got two episodes to go he's in this movie anyway and that was just a coincidence I was like that

guy looks familiar I was like oh watch's pretty cool actually I enjoy scenes that feature him I'm trying not to say yeah yeah good actor okay I just yeah wasn't sure if you guys seen Jack I don't think we' ever discussed it no and like I said I I thought I'd watched this but nothing you said Rings any bells so maybe I'll give it another go I'm looking forward to uh the new Mission possible um I don't know what it's like over there but the the the ads for it here are literally just shots of Tom Cruz running and the words Mission Impossible that's all you need that's all he does in the movies it that's all people need to get in there I watched that very long promo of him doing that bike stunt watch I want to see that he'll hold on to things he will hold on

to things yeah he'll do he will um I might even do a little marathon before I watch this because I'm I'm not going to go see this at the cinema so I might watch all the rest I found Jenna hasn't seen any of them and so I was like I mean there's a lot of them all good in their own way even two is good in in in its way no interested not good at all I just oh really I do not care for Tom Cruz oh man at all oh I just I have not seen any in the mission possible there's nothing that really did you watch Maverick I watched Maverick Maverick was good I think that was going back to when I I sort of did like Tom Cruz it's these new

stuff I'm not a fan of last year mate I gonna say [ __ ] H I know I watch since then that has pissed you off he's gone back to his like his 80s like that was his 80s stuff I quite like that all right it just doing another mission it's Mission Impossible just just never really I didn't love Maverick as much as rest of the world seemed to in the middle and then it got me back at the end sure also you live in America Matt and I think you have to be American to really appreciate it I still like they still they stick with the thing that they did in the first they do not say who the enemy is yeah because America it doesn't matter who the enemy is America's gonna win it could be anybody we'll get them don't worry except for the North Vietnamese well I don't think they're

worried about beating North Vietnam it's it's who else would Jo fight I mean I mean that's the one enemy they historically yeah I mean if they would to do it now come on D it was just the Fourth of July what are you bringing that up for yeah yeah America I noticed they're not going to the Ukraine though are they World Police they're like sort that [ __ ] out of yourself we're giving them we're giving them stuff apparent I don't want stuff mate we don't have to talk about that yeah I've got a lot of respect for the people in Ukraine because we're still making games [ __ ] yeah yeah they are they're making some good games yeah yeah they are they're making some great games honestly they're dark as [ __ ] but they're

excellent but I love the Russians are still shadow of Shob what's the oh it does too yeah um all the Russian houses that are bringing out games now though are saying here's a game we're russing uh please don't hate us we're not affiliated with stuff that's going on yeah I know that's we when we saw little we went to little big the other week which is a band that was originally from Russia they live here in the US now but they made a point early in the show to mention that they do not support the war yeah yeah yeah I mean we're already at the show so yeah I'm sure I'm sure the foot soldiers in Ukraine right now are not a bunch of artists and game

developers are they no well some of them are unfortunately I really Oh you mean the no no okay I'm not I'm not saying the brave ukrainians defending their home I'm with you sorry I'm with you now yeah all right let's get it off world politics because we are not good at it yeah all right um well I mean I'd love to stay on movies if we can because I watched a [ __ ] great movie this week called Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom that is and uh Matt I know you watched this recently um and this is probably the one that at least recently I've seen the least because I think when I was a kid I watched it a lot but then as I grew up I always remembered this as the worst of the three and so I just kind of even

when I was younger I when I would watch them I tend to go to Last Crusade or I disagree now I disagree they were of two of the on I head towards this is so good um and I was thinking I was trying to put myself in the frame of mind that if I'd seen Raiders of last AR in 1980 when it came out and had waited four years for a sequel and went in to see this how would I feel and I got to say I would not be disappointed I mean Raiders changed the way that we looked at action movies and and you can't hold sequels to that same standard right you just can't it's unfair too so putting that aside this is the most solid sequel I think of any [ __ ] film except maybe Empire Strikes Back right like it's just it

goes here's another one right one ex ramped up to 11 but there's a cple of things that I noticed in this that I never noticed before and I certainly never noticed as a kid number one it is implied heavily that Indiana Jones tried to rape somebody's wife and they were gonna cut off his dick what is it there's a scene where he says the Prime Minister the prime minister in India says to him wasn't a sulan going to cut off your head for what you did to his wife and he goes no it wasn't my head and he goes your hand then and he goes no it was my and he looks down at his lap looks back and goes misunderstanding no I I I I I don't think he I think he's just replied that he had sex with the wife that's it not

well it was his misunderstanding so I assume that meant he thought she wanted it no I'm thinking it's a misunderstanding that he didn't I'm pretty sure Lucas would have pitched it that way yeah it was ass Sultan's wife I'm pretty sure he knew she was married yeah but I'm I'm pretty sure it's not a misunderstanding that he was attempting to rape her I don't sorry to be clear I don't think he was he thought it was rap I think he was coming on to someone who didn't want it and was unaware because he's a scoundrel I don't know I I have a hard time even thinking that I think it's he was getting along with her quite well I don't think she saw it that way I think that's what he's you take the whole Mar and Ravenwood how

how old was the Sultan's wife SM yeah if they said Sultan's daughter I'd buy it um but there's something else that was painfully obvious to me in this watch that has never occurred to me before and I think it's because this is the first time I've watched this movie as a father right so short round is in this movie it is the only character in any of the films including the women he has sex with that he shows genuine love intimacy and affection for there are scenes where he's asleep and short is tucked up into his like chest asleep with his hat on he never shows respect like that to any women right it's only this young boy like they have a fatherson relationship right yeah yeah this is a prequel to Raiders of the Lost

AR ra is 1936 this is 1935 it is one year before right right it starts off India is in China and they heavily imply that he has been in China for a very long time he speaks fluent Chinese which you could really only do when you live there he has short round who he said has been with him since he was very young and he has a Chinese bodyguard in the first scene who says he's been with him for many years right so I think we can assume by the evidence that he's not based in America he's lived in China for a long time right interesting okay when when him and short argue they fly into Chinese which is very cute although IND Chinese is is very bad but it's it's very cute that they do that mind but we know from Context that one year later

India is Living in America short round's not there so it all falls apart in one year we also know there's one scene where Short Round says to the elephant he's riding on I'm going to take you to America when I go you'll be my pet and it's this throwaway line that's just a cute thing a boy might say to an animal that thinks it's his pet but what it shows us is that Short Round does believe he will be taken to America by Indie one year later Indie is living back in America Short Round is not there so what happened to him so I've also thought about that and I thought they've now left China but without wanting to do you they fled in in the night right ended up in India sure I think because of the altercation he got into with the Triads he's probably can't

go back to China and he obviously didn't take the time to get an American visa sorted for Short Round so he has to leave and I I assume that Short Round just got sent back to China to live on the streets again I can see there there's stuff in the comic there's comic books around him but that's not canon yeah right that he went on to become an adventurer himself but yeah no it's what happened to him yeah I mean recently and I didn't even notice any of that stuff just occurred to me this is a prequel where is this guy now this son this adopted son so that's the thing though because I I just watched it without watching the others I didn't even coton on the fact that it was was a

prequel it was just Indiana Jones movie well I I always forget that this time because I just see they're just movies to me they're not one after the other because you don't need to watch one to enjoy the other at all certainly not certainly not except that the Nazis were more prominent in the later two than they were in the yeah well because they were they were a hit I guess but still you could have made you could set Temple after that and it still would have made total sense people didn't like Temple when it came out they were like yeah we'd like to see him like to go back to yeah well I think people weren't that specific I think it's people were just like we like the first one better we don't know why and the studio went make the third one exactly like the first one

it was like Highlander 3 is essentially Highlander the force awakens yes the for yeah yeah A New Hope too a newer hope one other thing I noticed on my temple rewatch and I think I mentioned this to you guys at the time that I definitely didn't pick up on this when I was a kid is when Indie watches the first ritual and then everyone leaves and he goes down and he gets the trunk I know what you're going to say he's got him in his bag about to leave and he turns around and then he just hears the Wailing of children yeah and he goes screams [ __ ] and then he looks up and there's literally just the skins of children children FL and displayed up above and I couldn't believe how gra yeah same very implicit that's why he decides

to go and do something about it yeah because the thing is and this is what I love about this movie and because it's a prequel to Raiders he hasn't learned any of the lessons he learns in Raiders right like in Raiders he learns all this hum stuff he doesn't have yet he's just a psychopath in this one and at one point so if you if you remember Luke he's in this impoverished Village and they've said there's a castle near here who have stolen a sacred Relic from us that was giving us life to our crops and stuff Y and then he we want you to go and get it then he literally says to Short Round that night we're going to go and get this and he said why to help the village and he says no because it'll make us rich and famous like he yeah forunate and Glory he has no

intent to take that back to that Village and uh yeah also Harrison Ford incredible shape in this movie yes and and they display that by tearing off most of his shirt this was Peak Ford Absolut yeah yeah sequence and all that kind of stuff yeah yeah I know right yeah that rope Bridge sequence is so good it is Classic Cinema and and there's a lot of Classic Cinema in this movie like him entering the the Shanghai nightclub in the white tuxedo and all of that you know it's all good yes it's the Bond movie yeah the the boat out of the plane is no different it's no worse or better than the fridge yeah 100% there i' never the fridge speaking of the fridge I don't have a lot to say about I tried to pop

Crystal's skull on he tried here we go I I couldn't I couldn't I got up to I got up to the just the first bit in the um Hanger 18 sequence and then when he first starts you know goofing around and I was just like no the this the actually literally the bit I turned it off was was when he swinging around off the lamp and the trucks are crashing into each other and then he ends up in a truck that he's driving and he smashes through some boxes and it ex they all just explode in like a CGI cloud and I was like no not now not wasn't in the mood a shame it is a shame they I still stand by if they made that exact script but made it in the 90s yeah that's kind of stereotypical complaint to make but it genuinely like

I watch it and I'm like nah the other the other big complaint that I have about that movie is Kate blanchett's character and I don't think it's her fault because she's got nothing to to play with very Sil but if you look at but she's just one-dimensional like if you look at bellock who's the the antagonist in the first movie he's so layered he's just an archaeologist who just wants the [ __ ] Arc same as Indie but he's just being paid by the na instead of by the Americans they're so similar the fact that their characters are foils of one another is what Mak that anist protagonist relationship interesting there's none of that this is just a psychopathic Russian like General who just doesn't like Indie with a bad

Russian accent see that didn't even bother me because the the bad French accent from belloc is is not really any better than than her bad Russian funny I know he's supposed to be French and I know his accent's terrible but I don't notice it because that's just what bellock sounds like yeah exactly same with John ree DAV pretending to be Egyptian no one questions it because the characters are so well out I think there not Egyptian I don't even know when we were I don't think so I think he's British when we were younger we were more forgiving about movies now we're old know I didn't know any better we don't and that's just what it is but now we know better it's but that's not right look at the opening of Temple of Doom look at it now and I'm like that's a bit racist and and you

know at the time when I was a kid I was just like oh they just eat weird [ __ ] cool that's cool I like that yeah yeah I noticed you know when Willie is singing with the Chorus Line and she's singing in in Mandarin which I assume she's dubbed because her Mandarin is actually very good in that sequence um all the Chinese women she's dancing with are white women with black wigs on yes and it's like could you not find 12 Chinese dancers for this scene that's interesting I it would make it would sort of make sense if like during that set that time if they were performing that in America and it was meant to be but this is you could you could have L into something there it could be that this was like a western themed Club because Willie being the star act maybe that's

what people went to see yeah okay because all the other extras all the extras in the in the who are at the club are Chinese yes yeah the club Obi-Wan Club Obi-Wan yeah got to get that there just briefly one other thing I there was a YouTube video I saw this week about Soderberg did the black and white re-edit of Raiders I'm sure you I was like Dan would have seen this already it was about just about how he had done that and it showed a few clips from it just he basically he took Raiders removed all the audio put it in black and white and then just put some of the Trent res attakus Ross stuff that they did for you know movie background score you know that stuff they released early on that anyone could use some of that

behind it and it he showed some clips of it and it actually genuinely made me appreciate the the blocking that Spielberg does es especially in those movies like even just just like a little like he showed some of the really the obvious examples like there a very famous scene in Last Crusade where it opens on they in Berlin you see the Nazis burning the books and everything and then it just pans across and then you see the bike there so you go oh they made it and then it pans over a bit more and you see the legs of the Nazi guy being drag like oh he's beating up a Nazi and then you see him walk out and he's wearing a uniform and it's like that was one shot and just cover so much they they made it to Berlin they dropped the bikes off he beat up a Nazi guy and

now he's in a Nazi uniform like covered but then even there is like a little one in um Raiders where they're in I think it's like at salah's house or something and then the camera follows the little kid bringing the food in and I've never really noticed that that's what it was doing before but through the scene it's all it's all yeah yeah and it's all blocked just like yeah it's just so good yeah and the Crux of the scene old man translating an inscription on the the [ __ ] headpiece to the star yeah but the way that he just set all the SC up is just genius I didn't appreciate it because I watched it when I was a kid and I didn't give a [ __ ] about that stuff when I was a kid so when I rewatch it now I don't notice

things the way even as a kid you may not have understood it but you still enjoyed it sure yeah they also this points it out where it's like look what he's doing here it's like oh yeah that's because there's so much in that scene too because there's a kid that kind of brings you into that scene but there's also the kid puts down the dates the guy comes in puts [ __ ] poison on the dates and leaves yes and then the kid thinks oh did I leave the door open and go and goes and recloses the door like yeah you know that all of this tension is is happening but not only that it's all efficient right because even as that's happening and you knowing that you see that's happening but there's other stuff happening too and it's just like it's just so efficient it's like

you know he can get in one scene what would take he doesn't do that anymore yeah I know there's none of that in in in uh Crystal Skull one who who started doing that well was Ed gay oh sure yeah I can remember um what was the cop one oh Hot Fuzz huz when he's going when he's going from the city out to the town There's A Train and he's waiting at trains and he's looking at his phone and every time you see the phone he's losing bars on his phone and when he gets there he's got no signal and it's just sort of showing that he's going out but it's just a great scene but they don't do that anymore there's nothing wrong is there it's that hot is hilarious it's clever it's like well shot everything it's just great and if

it wasn't a comedy if it was just a cop procedural it would also still just be good yep like it's so good that's why [ __ ] one thing you don't have a big bushy bushy beard we call them the Andes the fact that every he goes yeah and then back in man it makes no sense good that um not Roger Moore what's the what's the other James Bond AC in that Timothy doton is like the main suspect in that and they're standing looking at a [ __ ] something's on fire I can't even remember what they turn around and then he rolls past in his car and he's got

[ __ ] burn it down playing as he comes past like lock me up I'm a slasher of prices so good if you haven't watched or watches I guess these days if you haven't seen hot FES [ __ ] watch Hot FES so good no it's it's a great you shot your gun in the air and yelled ah no I've never shot my gun in the air and yelled ah he thinks he's Judge Judy and executioner but he's not Judge [Music] Judy so could that's got an Oscar winner in it now Olivia Coleman oh of course no one saw that coming that'll be me to night murder Mitchell and web it's not

piss lumps from that sketch where um David Mitchell's wearing a burer oh yeah it's too much isn't it and then he takes it off and he's in black face under it face i' never been questioned for it up again well I think yeah we'd have to go into it but I think it's it's done you know he's yeah he's he's yeah he's clear the but of the joke somebody asked uh somebody asked Dan akroy recently um how he feels about doing blackface in trading Place star of Temple of Doom star of Temple yeah also doing a fake accent um how he felt about doing blackace you know all those years ago in uh in training places his answer was well I couldn't get away with it now of course not I wouldn't want to do it now could

get away it now they get me for it now they get me those people they'd get me the aliens the aliens and the ghosts oh God I can't listen do yourself a favor right go go to YouTube at some point type in Dan arroy or Blues Brothers live show and watch that [ __ ] dance he is and amazing dancer Dan like he's incredible I doubt he's quite the same now I also doubt that but maybe if you only know him from the 90s onwards like there was a time when when he was a referred to as the skinny one out of two Blues Brothers yeah I used to have a lot of respect for him now he's just a nut he's insane I was uh can't watch him sit

there and tell that story with a straight face about how all that scene in Ghostbusters is based on the time a ghost actually tried to suck his dick and he's not joking but but the thing is but then when pressed on it he can't give you any details other than there was an impression on the bed next to me like okay from stop talking Danny stop talking not you Dan right yeah I don't want to buy you vodka and I don't believe ghosts are sucking you off VOD right has brought vka yeah that's true it comes to Crystal is all right I was playing um the first space Quest this week Sierra yeah just had some Nostalgia for thatan encounter yeah that is a great game it's a great game because it is very quintessentially

Sierra in many ways but it's also quite unique in other ways too like you just Die For No Good Reason well that scene in the start where you're trying to escape from the ship that's got itself self-destruct and there's a countdown if you it's just pointand click stuff but if you don't do it in a certain time the ship just blows up and you're dead like I can't think of any other Sierra game that has like a time limit like that police Quest you had to get your stuff out of your locker before the briefing began but that was that was it I think the meanest game that they ever did was King's Quest 3 which is the one where you are the Wizard's apprentice and because he'll disappear and then come back and you don't really know when and yeah exactly he'll just kill you it's

like that was a big that was correct yeah um this this is a little bit like that I'm I'm saving new saves usually when I play them I just save over the same save make sure you pick up that piece of glass yeah yeah that's right yeah yeah back when game because actually that's a way you can soft lock this one too because if you go across that little rocky bridge too often as in more than three times it will crack it collapses and then cannot get that piece of glass and you literally are just stuck cannot proceed there how enjoyable just wasn't it in in um Ken Williams's book he said they made more money off the manuals the hint books than the actual G wouldn't surprise me actually yes I do think some of that stuff's intentional yeah like but the

reason I brought this up was because at one point you go into the Cantina and there's a Cantina Band playing it's clearly a ripoff of moss eisy the um the jiz Whalers not a joke that's what they called um but if you go out and come back they're gone and it's the Blues Brothers doing a set oh that's nice yeah is that you playing the the VGA remake or the original no no no interest in that yeah the OG's got the little BL okay that's cool yep quite Advanced it sounds condescending but I mean that it's actually quite an advanced thing pull in a game that early you know an early yeah yeah I mean I guess these these games set the tone for what all of these games were going to be

like um although it's got It's kind I don't know when I was a kid I expected games to be funny and now when games try to be funny I'm like don't try to be funny some video this week about um millennial writing in games these days which is this trend where they can't even just a standard line of dialogue just you can't they can't just deliver a [ __ ] piece of dialogue it's there's always got to be some ironic joke or some pop culture reference and it's like just right [ __ ] normal dialogue yeah yeah what I found funny I've been we were just talking about Mission web I've been I got an audio book of the MIT sound which is basically their show but just audio book and it's

still funny that sounds amazing that's interesting seeing the scene because of just how well Monty Python used to do that they used to release their shows as records with just audio sketches I've seen some of the scenes and I know what they are but even without it the just the dialogue is amusing is enough yeah yeah oh that's coolx Bandit and Angel Summoner on there oh yes yeah see it yeah one summoned Angel be other to be a mix so good um have you guys I mean either of you might have seen this and Luke I think you might find this genuinely funny Matt you might find this ironically funny but at one

lightning yeah yeah lightning and Jack one of the two yeah yeah but yeah it's Jack Black and uh Owen Wilson his best friend and he gets killed and his soul gets transported into his motorbike and they have adventures and it's [ __ ] hilarious but that must be made as a joke that was never going to be a series I think they made a pilot oh Dan muted himself by accident yeah there he is um when you watch that now heat wav Jack it's called heat waving Jack heat wav Jack that's it yeah there's this bit where Owen introduces it and he's sitting in front of all his Awards his Emmy Awards Oscars and stuff and he's like he's like I this to whatever Network and they didn't think I was going to be a big enough star to to

drive this vehicle youed and Jack Vision in Jack yeah and it's Owen Wilson as the voice the bike yeah yeah we got there in the end cuz it is on YouTube right well search heat vision and Jack and then search auson Wells onean band London swinging London uh there's a 15 minute clip they're shorter Clips but the the full thing is 15 minutes it's pretty funny have you seen the final cut of that ad the one that went to air no no I of that is is actually in it it's just shots of him and then he's dubbed over at the end it's amazing

awesome um before we move off movies The Flash is set to lose $200 million for water Brothers it is the biggest flop in superhero movie history Brothers no no it was so them the movie Losing $200 million is how we forgive Ezra Miller is that my understanding so Ezra Miller has come out this week apparently there's a restraining order keep keep quiet ORD so now well the then so so they've come out and basically Ezra Miller saying that they were um unjustly and directly targeted for people basically these people just wanted Fame and Fortune and

glory and uh and uh as a result of that it caused a lot of trauma which spiraled I presume them out of control and that's why all that bad stuff was happening so it's not his fault that he threw a chair at a woman he threaten them with a gun in their own home I mean I've seen a video of him literally just choking a fan for no apparent good reason that's not their fault I'm not would be a good reason be a good reason go and choke a woman well I mean perhaps if this woman had attacked him in any way other than being very nice and asking you know or just fan Girling over him or sorry them and uh anyway anyway they've been uh allowed to talk again now so I guess well it's probably one Brothers said find the

movies out is doing [ __ ] say what you want well they're probably is that a quote man is that a direct quote yeah one of like the other movies out you can say whatever you want cuz you're never going to work with us again well it certainly doesn't look like there'll be any more Flash movies because here's the thing this is this is the timeline of events one Brothers started making this movie in an atmosphere where people were really soured to war Brothers DC superhero movies to begin with right then to make that worse Ezra Miller went and committed a whole bunch of crimes then they finished the movie and everyone said this movie is so good you'll forgive his crimes yeah yeah and everyone I mean this had everyone waited

on it and said this is it's not what you think it's so good then it came out and everyone was like what is this garbage don't care don't care honly I think the best thing that James gun can do is just a full-on reset just start from scratch if he's gonna be yeah well he also he he was he's he's quite good being yeah I guess is the word because he was intervie this week and he said that the that I think someone was talking about the Flash not doing well and he kind of pivoted the conversation sty what he ended up saying is that superheroes these days aren't really about the characters they' lose the characters and in the kind of you know interactions between people to become these big grandio stories but no one cares about any of the people it so sure

and then so I'm wondering if that's what well it's interesting because I think if you asked Zack Snider he would agree with that but he would tell you that that's on purpose because Zack Snider thinks that superheroes are our gods and that we should worship them whereas whereas Kevin fige for example thinks that superheroes are just like us and they say funny things to one another well that was the thing that I always personally liked about Spider-Man as a character was that it was he was a kid I was like you know like Superman when I was a kid wasn't particularly interesting to me see he was was to me but for a completely different reason so I totally agree with you on the Spider-Man front like he was interesting because it was a [ __ ] kid going to

college trying to get a spider and be Spiderman I did get bitten by a Spiderman that's right he's Aid going to college trying to get laid Yeah trying to get laid and keep down a job and go to class and also be a superhero like that's interesting but it's also interesting that a man comes from another planet and is so perfect that he doesn't know how he fits in like but Pi the Nuance of that kind of yeah you just thought it was cool that he could fly yeah right yeah no look I am it's on the torrent but it's still just shaky cam I'm I'm I'm can't wait okay I don't think you're G to be waiting long for this to come to streaming services I really don't I think set sale just just so you're aware has it okay

good um speaking of speaking of not waiting long by next week I'll be able to give a full review on um the dial of Destiny because I have my tickets for tomorrow o do you listener Grant and I have decided we'll watch it so that you don't have to that is also not doing too well from what I hear so it's not just every single review I've read has said exactly the same thing which is that opening sequence where you see young Indie is amazing please give us that movie and as soon as that ends and this movie begins it's boring yeah okay so I'm hoping that's not true I'm hoping I find something in it that I I mean I'm an old man now I I'll watch an old man Indie you know I saw a minor spoiler but I was like w that's not a huge spiler so it's

fine I'm not gonna say what it is just in Cas doesn't know but I can tell you if you want I know I know spoilers but I fairly out there at this point there's someone in this movie that I didn't know was in it and now I know he's in it oh it's like not even a huge surprise who is it yeah you can I don't mind should I just say all right just don't want to know that Karen Allen is in this movie oh okay okay not a huge part though or at least her remains well I don't know I don't know I don't know anything about I just know that she's in it because I saw an article that said her and other one kept it a secret and I was like yeah were you [ __ ] yeah that's right yeah yeah um but not shil buff no one's heard any shil buff news heard that I will say it is

explained is it oh it is explained they step over his corpse at one point I'm not saying anymore I'm just saying I stand by it I think he was decent he was he was certainly not what ruined Crystal Skull and like I said last week I quite enjoyed Crystal Skull this time around I no mat was a terrible character and no he didn't go to school but he's super smart still the other thing I and this is read immedate pointed this out and I can't not hear it anymore in the Crystal Skull there's that scene where mat asks him they're like at some dig side or something like that and they fight the the native guy with the blow dart and they blows blows back that all happens and then he

um the other way yes the poison be on thep don't don't think about it too much doesn't matter but M says to him you're a teacher and then in the film Indie says the line part time part time yeah part time but in the trailer there's an alternate cut where he says part time and it's way better right interesting I can't every time I yeah like I I think of that movie I just think I I he dry delivery of that line isn't it because an odd choice to choose that take yeah like versus that they had it in the trailer and it was it it it worked and then they broke it in the movie it's weird H wonder why maybe I'll go see it this weekend one thing that I don't like about that movie and I'm sure they're going to do it in this movie too because

clearly it means they didn't understand their own joke you know how Indy's real name is Henry Jones Jr right yes yes but everyone calls him Indie everyone calls him Indie in the three films we've seen except at the very very end of the third scene his dad says his actual name is Henry he just gets called Indie in Crystal Skull just as many people call him Henry as Indie and it's like no no no no just because they're friends doesn't mean they would call him Henry he still introduce himself as Indie in fact if anything the friends would call him by the name he wants which is Indie his dad yeah even his friends don't know his name is not Indiana and that Indiana was the dog yeah only the Salah thinks that's hilarious when he finds out at the end of The Last Crusade after

they've known each other for presumably years Salah then started calling him Henry that would make sense but just the fact that his colleagues at the uni call him Henry instead of Indie is is that's that's that's not what would happen Marcus calls him Indie and they're best mates you know like at the uni I could understand but we've had precedent that that doesn't happen because Marcus doesn't do un Marcus hear me out at the end because his dad's G no yeah Henry that's the dog's name maybe he didn't Chang all right I'll Henry to yeah I would agree with you except that in this movie it's not that nuanced because clearly just that the writers thought people that are really close to him should call him Henry because that's his real name hold on no people close

will use your nickname that's how life works yeah yeah especially if you specifically ask not to be called that in fact it's more likely that strangers would call him Henry not realizing what say on his passport for example yeah yes if everyone called him Indie but then there was a scene where he went through a port and somebody was like Henry is like y sorry Henry or they would just call him Dr Jones which is what they people call him because his name is Dr what Short Round calls him yeah yeah his [Laughter] son abandoned who he left for de who apparently doesn't have a name yeah did they mention his name no I don't think they do um there's a time where he actually says this is Mr

round like like his name is Short Round but I don't I don't know my guess is that it's a Chinese name that sounds like that and that's he calls him but they never explicitly say that um let's have a look we have no he is known as Short Round not one word h oh there's a cat there's a cat there is a cat with no tail oh eaten that's what happens if you're hungry oh Jesus sometimes Luke says things that sound like threats but aren't that was a threat it was don't HT remind me he just reminded me that the other thing I forgot to mention about Jack Reacher is that um Vera Herzog is the villain in it

no okay I definitely haven't seen this is there a sequel maybe I actually his own fingers off in something else maybe maybe is there more than one Jack Reacher yes there's two of them one's got Kobe smolders in it the the woman from um oh mother does that sound familiar yes that does sound familiar so maybe that's the one I saw maybe I saw the shitty sequel maybe not directed by uh Christopher mccy or Ralph mcari no any sets designed by Ralph mcari because that could be cool don't know I don't know if he's doing I don't know if he said design from Jack racher would be that cool unless he got to do what he wants just offices and things yeah broke my heart that he couldn't draw in his later

life because he had Parkinson and His Hands Shook and he he couldn't draw properly he's such a great you'd see those interviews with him as his hands would just be shaking and you'd be like that is breaking my godamn heart not just because I want more drawings from him I know call back well it's just he that's what he enjoys exactly that's who he is take that away from someone yeah yeah that's bro I've always thought if I lost my hearing that would be a that' be a pretty intense issue for me see I like music but if I went death things would just be calmer for me honestly I I could tune 90% of what I hear on a daily basis out and be happier I can't imagine not to listen to music that's I mean just be like that be weird yeah I wouldn't like that it be

the garlic bread and I was like on man I can't [ __ ] smell anything wow and then yeah and if so facto can't taste yeah got you bad yeah it did I was re listening to last week's podcast and i' had forgotten the story about the wheels and I was literally walking the dog in tears of laughter just thinking about you going [ __ ] I'm thirsty but I got these wheels instead of legs stupid it's funny now but at the time reminded me when I had at the time I was like what am I gonna do like it was harrowing when I was 16 I had man ninja cockle and um I had that fever where feel too hot and too cold at the same time that's that's how I knew things were really bad but I hallucinated during that time too cuz at one point

and I swear like I know this didn't happen because how could it but this is as much a memory as any other memory I have of that time I was lying in the hospital bed going [ __ ] I'm bored I'm just G to fly out the window and so I flew out the window and I flew over penth for a bit down to the river and back around and then back through the window of the nepan hospital back into my bed and I was like okay cool that was nice thank God that was early in your mind and not uh I didn't go out the window true true I remember when I got my staff infection like um I was had like a very very high temperature and yet dick thing not a dick thing I got just sta infection got a very very very bad infection stiff infection and yeah like a temperature of like 42 degrees

which is not fun oh wow that's cooking brain temperature yeah that's not good that's why I'm as smart as I am now H what is St actually don't know I've heard that I don't know from uh from Jiu-Jitsu I believe I believe it's just like a it's just a very super bug when men's sweat rolls on you it's like a super bug that's all I know right that you sort of get from when I don't know I really don't know I should look up the stuff I've had I got it from a misunderstanding yeah you wrestling people not at the time staff infection staff infections are caused by bacteria cause staff caucus they most often affect they go away their own no that's not what I had wink stefler cus I don't know what I had that sounds like a fake

Romanus I didn't have a skin thing I was in hospital for four months after I got that Jesus jeez oh yeah that that knocked me around when you get sick you get sick yes like when people get un CR when people noral people go on crutches they go on crutches for like four to six weeks but I go on crutches it's for 10 years Jesus yeah true true true story um just F get off movies I've got one article made me laugh this week it was about um is Robert England in interview didn't make me laugh it made me a little sad so the headline is that Robert England is ready for Freddy crw to be recast for potential Nightmare on El Street reboot and the first my first thought was they've already done

that yeah and I guess he just doesn't remember that that happened literally already did that 10 years ago yeah and I didn't mind that movie I mean it was all right it was okay like it wasn't I didn't mind it like it was it was one of those remakes that's super polished where the original was super unpolished but didn't the heart of the original I think what they did in the this one that s of remake is they went more into the the the origins of Freddy about how he was yes they tried to make him a well-rounded character it's the same as when yeah they do mention they do mention in the original that he was he was a pedo and the the fam the parents killed him yeah

but it was a mention this and that he that that this was his favorite girl and yeah but I just me it's like he he doesn't know he either doesn't know what has forgotten for Texas chains remake did that too where they kind of oh he's abused as a child yeah Rob Zombies Halloween did that a bit too oh it did yeah Michael Myers because the thing about Michael Myers was that in the OG he yes he didn't know anything about him he just he was when he was a kid he St his sister and then he was in the mental institute and he's just evil mhm and then the Rob Zombie one he's you know tortures animal he's an antier it's like he's like an actual like psychopath person and it's like AER quite the same yeah that's right yeah he's not like I

mean still they want you to have certain sympathies but then at the same time that doesn't make it interesting when you're running away from him and he's trying to kill you have you seen that um that all black the point he's just there's nothing that was the point of him in the original it's not a person even it's just a thing that wants to kill you yeah anyway sorry there's a movie I wish I could remember the name of it but it's it's a slasher movie but everyone's Black And the tagline is they can't all they no we can't all die first I'm gonna find what it is hold on hold on blackening the blackening blackening [ __ ] hell

oh one more piece of movie news apparently Russell C is upset people keep asking him about Gladiator 2o and he have to tell him I don't know anything about it I'm not in it died in Gladiator spoiler I died my character is [ __ ] dead I had heard and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Nick Cave right the sequel and it's about Maximus going to Hades is that not no this is Ridley Scott's doing a movie that's set years later I think he does mention what links it then and Russell Crow says Russell Crow says that but then he's like but I only know that because that's what's out there like I'm not in I'm not part of this yeah yeah yeah and and also I don't think I've seen Russell Crow these days he's not a

gladiator he's more of like an emperor type character now yeah mate you are this close to being Uninvited from the ory he's craving the Hunter's dad he's Hercules's dad he's craving the Hunter's dad he he only does Accents now yeah do accents what was that movie where he plays just a dude with road rage that was excellent there's a movie is in that I keep mean to watch the Pope's Exorcist yes a doen accent in that one I want to watch that yeah yeah good point yeah hey I'm going to exercise of the Demons I think my sister saw I might ask her about it cuz she she she really likes horror movies so okay she'll let me know if it was if it's worth watching or not yeah so you guys uh you guys on threads no I'm not on threads we are the

podcast is oh oh no I don't take me off it so you know Twitter's having issues obviously talked about that that someone's running it into the ground now apparently The Story Goes Instagram or you know you know Mark Zuckerberg owns meta owns Facebook owns Instagram owns all that stuff apparently in the works they had this thing called threads which is based it uses the Instagram database and all that kind of stuff it's basically Twitter but it's tsion of and they were kind of sitting on it because they're like well you know we don't should put Twitter out when Twitter already exists except now they're like [ __ ] let's release it and so it it came out I think

yesterday or or the day before and uh everybody's moving over because it's got an advantage over all these other new Platforms in that you're already on Instagram yeah you don't need a new account it's got that that that hurdle that everybody has is that everybody was on Twitter to get them on a new platform you got to get everybody to leave cuz you need all your friends to be on there they're already on there okay yeah interesting look I'd be more likely to get on this than on Twitter except that as recently as yesterday I went through and deleted any of the Doom scrolling apps off my phone yeah okay on my home screen on my phone now I have my actual contact you know WhatsApp email teams um pornh Hing I have the photos and then I just have positive time wasters like the

Kindle app you know so I I need to pick up my phone and just read something I can read an actual book I don't just scroll I even deleted Reddit you know what I mean because you could say that that's the more positive of the Doom scrollers but I still just Doom scroll so yeah that's fair one thing I sort of Saw interesting recently about sort of the whole Twitter thing is a lot of the other social media platforms will pay social media creators to do stuff on there like YouTube Instagram like there's a way that they will pay you they will pay you money to do stuff Twitter is a no you pay us to post on here and we might promote talking about how he wants to do that but it's not happening the other thing the people like Twitter used to give free access to

the API and as everybody knows they pulled that right because it killed all those apps off and then but then companies that were like well I guess we'll Pony up and pay for it have said they got better service and better uptime on the apis when it was free than they do now when they're spending half a million dollars a year on it because there's no one there to support it the [ __ ] is going like how they fired everyone how is this sustainable yeah so I don't know it's just not not looking great for them and I feel like if any company can like maintain a service like that it's [ __ ] Facebook yeah like they've got the resources for this yeah so I don't know speaking of I don't post on social media so I don't know that we'll have
