playing a v oh oh very I'm interested yeah I'm how is that um I'm enjoying it so far cuz it comes out on Game Pass I think on the 18th okay that was going to be my next question can I can I play this for no extra money that I'm currently paying yes to play early this is a great thing that they're doing with the Game Pass stuff you can upgrade to premium yeah so instead of buying the full game it cost be like 22 bucks that's great yeah but I can't help my brain can't help going yeah but what happens if I don't have Game Pass one yeah yeah of course yeah but for me yeah but what happens if two years from now consoles aren't backwards compatible and you can't play anyway I know but I'll be finished playing it by then and if that does happen the game by that time the

game will probably be on sale for 20 bucks yeah so and also what are the odds I'm not going to have Game Pass like I don't even it it just happens in the background of my life I pay unless PlayStation 6 is so good we all switch consoles but not abouts made by obsidian we love them y yes CU they made one of the best Fallout games New Vegas and obsidian was actually made created by the people who originally were inter plate wasn't it isn't it black ey or or black Isle black Isle play they they made some great games back in the day it's like I think Boulders gate back in the day yeah maybe maybe they did that um Frankenstein with Tim Curry that oh yeah Windows point and click with FMV yeah I've got the CD for that somewhere I

know this a hard thing to say but if this is what we're getting now I don't know how good um the next Elder trolls game is going to be's that good is it yeah well just with the visuals on it cuz you know like the Elder SC game they're very they're not very colorful yeah I was a bit put off by how colorful a vad looked does it fit though it's not yeah yeah over the top no and I think look the reason why I think like the old blo and stuff all with that color it's just it's easier for graphics wise to do then have lots of different colors yeah um it is it is different but I'm enjoying it so far um the skill trees is a little bit different so it's I'm still getting used to that and what how to build up my character as I go but I'm just going fighter and

killing everyone so yeah I've heard magic class and the one thing I've been trying to avoid reviews cuz I just feel like I don't want to form my own opinion not particularly interested but I uh your opinion matters to me though say thank so thank you yeah um but Luke's not going to review it it's not a review exactly it's perfect it's just L liked it or not pretty good yeah yeah uh but I've heard that the inventory is particularly good because I read I saw an article that said I want all role playing games to steal the inventory system from unad is that true I I didn't read it because again I didn't want to spoiling I just saw the headline I was like oh interesting no I it's a bit weird actually I don't know if there's a weight limit at the moment

I haven't hit that if there is but you you can you list everything and then you can list like your armor and list your weapons and you can list all but yeah it doesn't seem anything spectacular all right okay I'll uh I'll report back on that then if I in two weeks we can play it okay cuz I do find inventory to be kind of um I don't know not that it matters so much but like in Skyrim yeah it's annoying CU you just have stuff in there and it's like like why am I carrying around all this stuff and it's hard to find things and Witcher three at launch was awful at that but then it kind of got better but it's still not I don't know I think it's just an interesting with the you know puzzle to solve I think it might be like with when you're upgrading armor you don't have to

go and select the stuff it goes if you've got the stuff you need to upgrade your armor or weapon it just says you can upgrade this armor like there's no more that you don't have to select that and then find out if you've got the resource or something it's go yep you got the resources you can upgrade if you want maybe something along that line all right but that yeah cuz you're collecting stuff to upgrade armor but yeah it doesn't really get in the way of anything yeah but no I think you should play you don't have to craft it is what you is what you mean you don't have to stop the game don't have to stop the game work it out just you go into your camp at night you go to the workbench and go here's what you can upgrade with what you've gathered workbench at my Camp just

lugging it around with me am I mhm okay all right well no there's there's certain places you can set up a camp and it's very basic a permanent Camp yeah no no no it's like Tom ra where just every time you get to a camp we're sitting up a camp here for the night and the companions at the moment I have two I didn't know I'd be able to have multiple companions none of them are want to have sex with you okay important detail do they want to have sex with you though or oh good question I don't know we're getting along okay but they haven't put the hard word on me yet they haven't given you the $100 [Laughter] but but also I haven't actually played that long I've only playing for a couple

hours so but I'm luy what I've started so couple hours you got two companions wow there's one thing I don't like so charismatic is H the the the bow the bow and eror I'm not enjoying normally you never enjoy a bow and errow until you get good at it though that's usually what happens in in Elder Scrolls games is you go I'm going to fight like this and then you end up just creeping around [ __ ] shooting people with a bone arrow like a like a dog but only once you get good at it like in the start of Skyrim just firing arrows at [ __ ] dragons you waste arrows yes but yeah here there there's no like you don't get from what I can see you don't get better at that type of thing you just get your strength Constitution y

don't get better at stuff mate yeah it's like in Oblivion where you in my experience I'm still a [ __ ] at everything I was ever [ __ ] at but yeah it's just the archery just feels off you don't have to worry about arrows and have infinite arrows infinite arrows I think it's the same guns as well that might be the same as well with what guns guns it's got guns in it it's got guns oh they did arinum that reminds me but not guns like that though they're just like Flint pistols and stuff yeah that's what aranam is like Aram is that really good game where it's a world where magic and Technology coexist but because technolog is becoming more prevalent magic is starting to fail because it they you can't it's like a yin-yang thing you kind of one without

the other and it's like they're building steam trains but then you now all the local you know Wizards are like oh I've lost my Powers cuz the [ __ ] train's coming through town like what is this game steamwork and Magic obscura it's a really really good old role playing game it sounds like by troa TR that's who it is that's the company I think that obsidian I think it's maybe it's just obsidian was came from a lot of different people yeah it's probably true probably true cuz yeah but no play it definitely hm I will I'll tell you what games you should play and know but the ones you really should listen to me the ones I tell you not to play yeah I'm trying to think of a example where that was not the case but I can't I forget what it was there was a game I told I told you I told I told

especially I remember telling you Dan you're not going to like it do not buy it and you went out and brought and I bought it and it was and I didn't like it yeah yeah there you go y that's happened a couple of times yeah although there's also been a couple games that we were both curious about and that we both played and neither of us liked it but I don't think that counts no no cuz yeah you got someone's got to try it yeah I haven't played much this week I did have a quick play of um the tell winam series which is you know Dave from poof who are doing The Drifter they're the guys from Melbourne they Mak these really good point click adventure games so he just doing Dave does this thing where um I don't know if it's like the same game Jam every year but they do

like Adventure game jam and he makes a new episode of this series he's called the T winium and it's basically done like an old Sierra game like that era where like quest for Glory 1 and two or like police Quest 2 that era that look no typing but it's it's a point and click game and and it's like a set in a fantasy world and there's three books of it so far they're fairly short and you can just get them on itchy itchy for for free if you want or you can give him a couple of bucks for him and did you give him a couple of bucks of course I did okay [ __ ] love Dave uh calling you out yeah I gave him a 100 bucks and uh I got my money's worth let's just say so I hope Nate gets

the same oh he will yeah um yeah they're really good check him out uh okay and and like yeah he's set it up so you don't have to pay for him if you don't want to but you can you can't ich has good like that like yeah it's a good way to get sort of your games and stuff out there to try especially something like that where it's quite small and I assume he's like like what do you even charge for some I think it's a good way for people to learn and get feedback for what they're doing like you could finish each of these in probably under an hour if you if you wanted to um the funny thing about ichio is I'll skip over games that cost $4.99 I'll be like I'm not paying for [ __ ] games on ichio and then I'll play a game for free and then I'll tip

them five bucks because it was so good yeah exactly yeah they've got a p's got a ton of stuff on there by the way if you if you're interested and and it's all looks similar to The Drifter when so this can you share playlists on your itch do you do you guys have the itch app uh I do I haven't used it in a long time cuz I've start I once I started using that I was like oh what what am I doing it's you know like lowkey steam right you just got them in a library but it would be cool to be able to share a playlist so that I can see what you guys are playing because if you're playing something that I think looks good that's more likely to inspire me to play something than scrolling is I bought back years a oh a couple years ago now

they had a a bundle for Ukraine when you know when the the war over there started and everything and it had like a thousand games in it and I bought it and so my library on there is [ __ ] insane now m and I like I guess I could out of curiosity which side was it supporting I think uh I think it's probably the Ukrainian side oh speaking of the Ukraine oh God I I started the ukra stalker to what year is this yes I suppose so yeah it's just Ukraine now right and it's ke not Kev anymore yeah true that's true too yeah yeah um to help you with that ignore going to help Ukraine good on you I'm sorry BL Mia I'm not I how to help you with that yeah um uh I only

trying to make a point I think I mean what's the point exactly a point point is like we could if you want and then CU there was a there's a big meeting in Munich at the moment of European leaders and a lot of those countries paid for the psychop US and I think it's a yeah I mean isn't the psyopus I I guess I have no [ __ ] idea what people thinking but it's probably he's just trying to annoy people it does seem to be like you want to have there yes yes you do want to contain that radiation is everyone especially if you're in the country next door like there's nothing around around that area which you could say oh no we're aiming for that we missed like it's right and I think they they

certainly at some point during this whole thing took over that land as well so it's not like I guess don't know what the situation there is right now but I think that they have that now so look here's I know Ukraine's a big really really big country it's bigger than you think it is right unless you're looking right at it on the map and I assume they've got a lot of people there and a lot of people can pick up guns and apparently they have a lot of Natural Resources which I guess is why Russia wants them back so badly but I am [ __ ] shocked that they are still standing up and fighting like is anyone else shocked that they were able to I thought a year in they'd all be dead yeah no no they've I mean amazing yeah yeah well didn't we have like our first Ace

that we've had like B pilot Ace that we've had in God knows how long on the ukra side awesome I hope so I don't know about this but this sounds excellent no I I really think there cuz an ace with a fighter pilot is taking down like five enemy planes and there hasn't been one since yeah right I think it was World War II or something and then Ukraine had one I think it might have been a case too of um you know like in Civ or something where you you get cocky and you're like I'll just send all my guys in and just [ __ ] wipe these guys out and then somehow the underdog beats all your guys and then you're like oh [ __ ] I don't have any more guys and then it's like now it's you got them all you've leveled the playing field by accident yeah I think it's like that he died who

did the fight at Ace oh he was shut down but he took out six I mean inevitable I'm just thinking of the second Rick May's character from black out go fourth oh yeah convinces him all to to join the is it the 30 seconds the 20 minuts yeah 20 minuts that's the the average time that they survive yeah up in the A and they do get shot down behind German lines oh yeah speaking of Civ civ7 came out anyone play it yet no I actually don't know what I would play this on at this point it looks different it yeah I've heard it's quite different but I think different in a good way cuz remember didn't it go to very a cartoony yeah that's what I disliked about Civ 6 yeah the review that I watched

from can't even remember one of the one of the main streamers though weren't keen on it they said basically it's stripped back to like C 4 level like it feels like feels like less to do rather than more to do but I don't mind that necessarily because was just too many things to to focus on at once but what I don't like about this is that you can change who you play as as you go along which doesn't make any sense to me you well the the justification for that I read was that you as you hit a new age there's like a set number of Ages and as you hit an age you can change and they said that's because you know people play as the ancient Romans and then you wouldn't there are no ancient Romans sure but you should still play as Italy

right yeah there's no continuity to it that's fair but also the ages jump forward in time too so it's rather than continuous year by year you play one age and then you jump forward you know 400 years until the medieval start and it's just just different form change or is it a choice no no no I don't think you are forced to I think oh no maybe you do have to pick someone from that age from who who existed but if you're not forced to I don't see it being an issue yeah well I think once the age changes you would have to yeah I think that's what it is I think that it's like if you're a Jenis Khan and then suddenly you're in you're in an age that he wasn't alive in you can't be him anymore so you have to be George Washington none of these leaders live for hundreds of

years so no but I don't understand why you couldn't be Egypt say and be [ __ ] ramises when it was Old Kingdom Egypt but then then you're you know whoever the [ __ ] is in Egypt now yeah the current president of President of Egypt any other president of Egypt isn't that but that's what they try and do they always try stuff keep stuff the same I guess I mean we already have cives one through six so why not try something different for seven slightly pretty your graphics that's all I want yeah and actually I like C five better before its expansion the Brave New World expansion came out when you you could pretty much only do a military domination like because I [ __ ] hate

it when I'm doing quite well conquering people and then suddenly all these [ __ ] missionaries start coming in sounding very like Dan this man of Visa it's it's quite bad it's horrible for one more turn and even I think the last time I played I think was S4 was the last one I really played and that even after I won and it comes up with like you've won but you can keep playing and I just kept playing just not doing anything but just played one game for eight hours and then never again oh man hundreds hundreds and hundreds of hours well the only other game I've interacted with this week I think is

that lra and I have nearly finished Luigi's man mention two on the switch nice that's quick or you come back to that one uh it's we came back to it but I mean I she makes me play it every morning and evening so with her tickets I think we talked about this she gets two tickets to do something we do that in the morning now too otherwise so everything has tickets now can you can you book tickets are only book tickets or can you be like [ __ ] it this book ticket is going to give me half an hour on Louis's Mansion so when she wakes up she gets two she gets her morning tickets once she gets ready you have to earn them right there's a list of things you do yeah particularly on school days right she's

got to get dressed go to the toilet brush teeth all that stuff once she's done all that she gets two tickets and the tickets can either you get timed like play a game M or uh an episode of a show and they it's supposed to be a we have to be careful cuz it's supposed to be one of the Disney kids shows that are like 10 minutes long and so we're going have to watch that yeah exactly yeah cuz shows get longer uh and then before bed same thing once she's ready for bed she gets two tickets again and same deal but then once those tickets are done the book tickets are for when she's in bed and we rebooked right yeah and I guess it's just grown out of the fact that like if we don't do that it's it goes forever it's chaos and

you have to argue with her like coin convince her it's worth her while not to you know yeah otherwi just be like I just watch another one and there's no I don't know but the tickets easy to say no you don't have any more tickets and then she's like oh yeah good point yeah yeah really and that's the end of it she's like ah yeah I'm used my tickets off I go then y nice for now yeah s like a good system yeah no but she is very smart though she'll go and if you forget uh like if you put the next one don't take a ticket offer she'll be like I've still got a ticket and you're like but we use one she's like I've still got a ticket yeah that's on you for not asking for the you got to you got to watch it yeah she's not silly

Seance um yeah yes um Luke did you talk about this on the show last week I think you did right I didn't give any details about it no no no but you mentioned you were not I think he mentioned that he was watching it no I think he only said that off a right okay that's what I wondered I think he just told us start just went what so spoilers so maybe skip ahead if you don't want to hear sever spoilers but um but we're only going to talk about up to like episode four so yeah yeah y yeah I've seen more but I won't talk about it well I have two now I watched it just before this oh okay well Luke hasn't so yeah well you can still talk up to five then because well I I'll just quickly say Luke it's it's a return to

the yeah the template okay also it felt really short it feel short to you yeah I would agree I would agree with that Che time I thought I thought I was going to have to turn it off to come and do this and it finished I was like I I thought for me I don't know I don't know if it's because it's been so long but I think it's lost some of that magic I think it has it I don't disagree I think it's just there's some stuff that I don't think is that interesting and I'm not sure why we're I don't know like I'll use the example of the goat thing get don't that was a throwaway scene yeah to make you realize that there was weird stuff going on you don't have to make that a plot it's

too it doesn't fit in my to OD I think what happened was we were questioning last time like what's with the goats and they did actually say like we just put some stuff in just but now they're going I can't not know that Sho horn in for a plot point which doesn't need to be there sometimes just let stuff be weird yeah but one thing I've noticed is they don't do any work anymore no well yeah they addressed that that comes up it does okay so my journey from this is [ __ ] it felt like so long since we watched season 1 it's been a couple of years right yeah cuz I guess Co was in the way yeah yeah it's been a while um and I watched the first episode of season 2 and remembered what happened before that but I I knew I couldn't remember why

things happened I couldn't remember people's motivations I could only remember their actions and so I went back and I watched all of season 1 during the week and um like I said my wife was in Seattle I I didn't have to do any interaction with any adults this week so once my daughter was in bed you just do what you want just watch TV um and this and devs I think are my two favorite kind of soft sci-fi aome yeah TV shows only very very one one or two small things in season one of s that I didn't like sure um both music related I'll say what they are okay when they go to see the punk band and they're sing [ __ ] you lumen song I'm like nah that's

TV stuff like sure there's there's there's companies people hate now and there aren't just songs called [ __ ] [ __ ] you Tesla like you know what I mean like that's just not what punk bands waste time probably are maybe but it just didn't ring true for me and the other one was where they at um the funeral of the guy who uh escaped in the first series no no no the oh the actual funeral the actual funeral um it's been a while and there's a video of him and his daughter jamming um and Sandman by Metallica and it could just be because I like Metallica and I'm very very used to that song but clearly those actors had never heard that song before they asked to learn it for the show right you know there's just nuances that if you were

going to sing you would sing it a certain way sure that they didn't do and that just really annoyed me it was just so cringe anyway that's all that's just my my beef yeah so the the the issue that Luke had was with episode four where they on the little trip out I didn't wasn't bothered as much as you were obviously it is quite different right and it was it is a little like stretching The credibility oh not credibility like uh like really they they arranged to do that like and then I just it's hard to because it's like I actually don't know why they're doing this like what is Lumen doing they yeah they do address that a little bit in the performance review because he gets reprimanded for doing that field trip right it was milch's idea it was just milch idea yeah

he was trying to do some crazy [ __ ] some good stuff came out of that episode though but I do agree it stretched the the plausibility of the concept yeah yes like oh they got him to sign off on this trip when they're already all of them are all skeptical about what the [ __ ] is going on and then they're like yeah sure like it just seems like although I had asked show any of that why didn't the is agreeing to do it like why would they agree to do that yeah and there's a there's a throwaway line in episode 5 too where she was like how was the trip and the Audi's like fine yeah fine I think was it yeah my uh I think I fell in the water yeah okay maybe I'll give another try but no I just I don't yeah just this season's

just lost me it isn't as focused season one was very very focused they go in the seever happens you see this story line it's contrasted with this story line This is trying to be a little too clever and it's getting a little messy and I hope they don't feel the need to complicate it too much because the Simplicity of it is what makes it excellent yeah and I worry that it's like I'm now questioning is this going somewhere or is this just throwing [ __ ] at the wall yeah like yeah like you know what the point of this stuff you're doing is or not I don't know just yeah yeah and they've started getting specific a little bit in this

episode and it really like episode 6 is either going to have to address what they're working on in that department yeah or blatantly end a storyline that they've set up yes because it's also it's not I don't know if they set this up in season one but it's not that they're all they're working on the same thing he's doing they need him to do something and that's new I think right which and also that's certainly feels new why I don't know well I guess it fits with we'll see we'll see some of the other stuff actually with with what's her name and all that the you know his wife and all that subplot I guess true that's the only way they could probably make sense of that to be

honest now that I'm thinking about it yeah I thought that in season one when there wasn't any this hint that he's special in any way I thought that that his wife being in there was purely a tactic to see 100% if they were severed oh like cuz if he recognized her at all he would say something sure yeah yeah uh but yes you're right that could just leave that could be that he's for some reason special yeah but yeah it's getting convoluted hopefully there's a satisfying end in there some yeah did either of you watch Homecoming this another one of these corporate sci-fi like sci-fi just about one company that's just a little bit more sci-fi than other companies but it was very good and it it only ran two

seasons but it was very good and worth watching you mentioned the other week uh just I just thought of this you know the corporate stuff that makes makes you laugh oh yeah there's two things that made me laugh out loud actually recently one was the the mil chicks this is the tallest waterfall in the world [ __ ] not on the planet little waterfall yeah just made me laugh and then the other one was um when uh spoiler spoiler um Irving gets fired so he's not in the show in season five yeah episode 5 uh and they're at his uh they have a funeral thing for him first of all that [ __ ] watermelon is terrifying and uh yeah made me laugh the other thing is that the banner it says Irving whatever and it's quarter whatever to quarter whatever that made

me laugh a lot it's just like everything is just in quarters I was I was telling Haw about this today because she she hasn't seen it but I was like it's sci-fi and it's high concept but the reason it works is they get corporate culture so right like my company I I wanted to send you guys this thing the other day near sent it let me let me let me [ __ ] read you this message that um doesn't have a confidential warning this is a real work message that I got hold on it's right here under my password let me just read the password yeah yeah that's right let me just yeah can you log in for me I I'll just read out my details um oh no I saved on the [ __ ] desktop not on my phone of course oh no obviously I freaked out and

deleted it um but the gist the gist was that um that it said hey team remember to report all fishing emails that you get to it I have to do that too so St we are so far number three in reporting and we want to get to number one oh God and I was like that's Severance that's everything in it all the incentives and all of that we want to be number one in reporting fishing come on we get fake fishing so I guess something must have happened I don't know what it is yeah it's like it's prob fake fishy to see if you'll report report the correct way and it's because and normally comes in when people have clicked on things yes but the thing is if I can see it's a fishing one and I

just muscle memory I just delete it yeah yeah exactly that's I get Auto assigned training if I do that you have to click the report button same thing with me so many times I hit delete and then I get email saying you've been assigned training and I email them and I go I'm not [ __ ] doing it again delete fishing email just yeah yeah I can see why want reported not so much for someone who actually knows what it is it's so they can actually people who don't and try and block the ones that comeing for the people who don't and that's what it's all about but why you trying to tell me that my CEO isn't going to give me [ __ ] Apple [ __ ] vouchers yeah that's

funny yeah um speaking of severance which is on Apple TV uh well two things first Apple TV is on Android now I guess it wasn't before but I saw that this week okay so I popped it on my Amazon tablet I didn't realize it wasn't but it is now okay and then also does that mean you don't have to have a box you can just subscribe through the Android store yeah you could anyway on a few in a few places like you could do it through Amazon Prime TV or whatever a couple places but now I I actually ended up paying for it twice for a little while which was silly it's a very Luke thing to do um they accidentally Netflix accidentally uh added Apple TV support so I don't know if you you guys don't have Apple TV boxes right no like no

okay we have I really like them so I have we have one up in wherever there's a TV in the house we just I bought one cuz I was like I really like them and they have this thing where it's got the Apple TV thing will say continue watching and it's just it it Aggregates all the apps you have installed all the different [ __ ] Netflix Paramount Prime whatever sorry not Netflix cuz Netflix didn't do it but Hulu and it just any show that you're watching on any of them you can just see it there and go oh watch there's a new episode great refused to do it because uh I'm pretty sure they said this they want you to go in there and look at through their they want you to see other advertising on the way to the show you're looking for correct and apparently this week

they accidentally added support for it so for a couple of days people were like oh thank F and then Netflix said oops and then they like rolled it back and said no no we we don't support that we've never supported that but I mean we've always been at war with [ __ ] you can't do that by accident obviously they were triing it or someone was working on it they're denying it I remember when I forget what game it was I think it was rocket League when they accidentally turned on crossplay oh yes I remember that right yeah and then Sony kicked how was turn it off sorry how long was that on for before they yeah the cross on for a couple of days but then up a stink and went no we don't like this and then went but yeah it's and then they basically came out look it's the push of a button

and we can do this like son there could have either been an accident or it could have been intentional because they want to draw attention to the fact that the only reason we don't have it is cuz Sony won't let them yeah whereas in this case I think this case they don't really get anything out of AC doing it Rogue developer was like this yeah I love this feature and I want to I'm just going to put it in there and see what happens yeah any I thought that was really interesting that it's it is in there it's obviously just turned off and somebody turned it on would have been yeah would have been some they probably tested a little while ago when they deciding it was been some update accidentally it's almost certainly corporate have said no no we want people to see all the stuff we pay a lot of

money for on the homepage of our app the funny thing is every now and again when I log into the homepage it'll come up with like the like only on Netflix or created by Netflix thing and you go canel canel canel canel canel like why are you bringing to attention all these shows you have cancelled yeah it's a meme now mhm cuz I only want new subscribers they don't care about the ones they've already got that's again it's business publicly traded company right got to got to get more money out people eventually yeah well you think but then they do things like that account sharing blocking and all that kind of stuff yep uh I watched I've been watching a prime show it's uh it's called Jack Ryan you may have heard of him Tom clany Jack

Ryan Show you're definitely the target audience for that I am I mean we all become I've become it somehow yeah I'm just a stereotypical [ __ ] middle-aged man now I just waited long enough and suddenly I became 45 years old now I'm interested in Tom Clancy I mean I always liked him it's just some point no you actively like him yeah yeah I seek it out is he dead Tom Clancy yeah is he I don't know he might be in my head he is is that cuz you remember murdering him yeah I am I died October 1st 2013 of the week ages no no we wer doing it we had a week back then 2013 oh no we might not have yeah that's yeah hang on three years ago I realized not there's not not anyone who's dead but just that Matt suddenly likes Tom Clancy three

years ago I realized that I just [ __ ] love John lar and I just read all the John lar books that I could get my hands on well I've obtained all the Tom Clancy books this week cuz well this Jack Ryan show is great it's um we've you know he's been in stuff so if you don't know Jack Ryan is a character in a bunch of Tom Clancy things he's in Hunt for Red October he's in Patriot Games he's in all those Tom Clancy movies not all of them but there's a there's a they call it the Ryan verse where he's a character course they do of course they call it that yeah uh and this show is uh I think dialed back a bit from some of the scale of those movies in books right starts out he's just an analyst at the CIA who looks up he looks after transactions

like Swift transactions in Yemen like he's looking for terrorists and he uh and he notices this pattern and he finds out oh there's this new new king terrorist guy in uh Syria and then cuz he knows the numbers they take him with and it gets it gets caught up in it and then it ends up he's like he's [ __ ] in this now this is a show task force it what's that this is a show he got buff thought wasn't it yeah yeah he's pretty ripped in it yeah um as an it's really good it's really good yeah well he's an xmarine so it does make some sense but yes he's my neighbor is an X marine and he is buff as [ __ ] so he he's got a lot of scars on his back I'm assuming at some point we're going to find out we'll find out why oh no you do find out a I love the fact specifics but just he's

like [ __ ] tracing [ __ ] bank transactions and [ __ ] like if you would have join the CIA that's the [ __ ] you'd be doing you're not James Bond you you you'll be at a disc it's funny though cuz yeah he's like that is his job but then things start to escalate cuz he goes on a date with this girl and he's like oh yeah I look at Logistics and transactions and stuff like that and then he gets like picked up in a [ __ ] helicopter at this party and she's like the [ __ ] amazing cuz yeah cuz he they need him for this thing that's going on and so yeah I think are these new stories or are these based on books I think certainly the I think it's modernized I don't think Tom Clancy would have been writing about drone strikes and stuff back when

he started writing these books yeah and it's got a lot it's a lot of about Modern Warfare so I think it's new sure but it's not like like for example Ripley the show that came out last year I knew was about you know The Talented Mr Ripley but I didn't realize that it was just The Talented Mr Ripley story as a series oh okay is this Patriot Games season danger I don't think there is a book that is the same plot of this as far as I'm I think it's like based on the character okay of Jack Ryan that Tom Clancy made and then CU like I said it's set it's pretty modern story I don't think Tom Clancy would have written about this stuff when it was all Cold War and stuff when he was writing that's what I mean yeah is literally about yeah like

there's a whole subplot about drone strikes and stuff in the Middle East and the moral uh implications of that it's good like it's it's [ __ ] good show yeah okay interesting it sounds pretty good did you did you watch what's the other one um did you do you watch the Jack Reacher show have we talked about this before I did yeah season 3 comes out soon and you you likeed that too right I I do like it it's cheesier than this okay yeah it's yeah the T more different yeah okay well the guy he's more of a comedian then uh serious but so John the actor or the writer you mean the the um actor yeah that [ __ ] enormous guy in Ria he's huge yeah one of the the season 3 comes out soon and one of the marketing things is that this

season he fights someone bigger than him I like the [ __ ] did they find someone bigger than him it's [ __ ] enormous um talking about books modernized for TV shows um I recently stumbled upon this podcast that's um just the old uh Sherlock Holmes short stories oh yeah um read out so it's essentially just an audio book serialized as as they were originally you know um but I didn't realize cuz I haven't read the shomes books since I was a kid like in my early teens I haven't read them as an adult and I didn't realize how much of the story lines of the show Sherlock were ripped verbatim from the original or something I thought and I would have sworn blind that that plot in that episode where Watson has to go to the [ __ ] crack

house to pull his junky friend out and then [ __ ] homes is there strung out as well that's in the book and it's word for word really yeah except it's an opium den yeah of course yeah no okay cuz the r and back fall obviously is like from the books but they made it very different in Hand of the basketball basketball hand of the basketball very different is that of the Bas sorry let [Laughter] me you're coming to play on the mo um yeah you just I don't know what [ __ ] my brain is doing but when you said reading out them serial in a podcast I

was like that's a good idea for a podcast and then for some reason my brain was like wouldn't it be funny and ridiculous to do a podcast where you just read out Fred Basset comics and try to find out try to figure out what's a [ __ ] joke what's funny about this what is the joke I might start a podcast that pretty funny and then like you're like well it's the end of the hour and we haven't really figured it out so see you next week with another Fred B that's great that's great yeah I might try that um before we move on from TV yes I've been watching more Mythic Quest as well oh me too yeah and I think I know what the show is missing they don't make the game anymore yeah they do but it's kind of

like in the background it's very much in the background now but you know how each episode they've done the like that one episode that's completely Standalone like a this this year it's four stories oh okay and it's its own four side quest oh okay yeah so oh so that's what they they've split off the the flashback thing yeah oh is that what okay yeah there's now four different episodes which are going to follow like different characters not related to the show like one's a okay com don't like about Mythic quests what Mythic Quest has become even season two onwards because season one is amazing yes and they had the only Co special of any show

that I thought was good and it was excellent but it seemed to get and I don't I don't want to use the word woke because I don't want to be one of those people complaining about wokeness but it it got too focused on being nice to people because yeah it was actually quite in the first season and then it became very especially F Murray Abraham's character I think was a strong example of that and obviously they had they got rid of him because he was misbehaving but I feel like with his character leaving that that whole type of humor also left yeah where it's like like yes kind of cynical yeah and not that the humor only came from that character it's like they just decided

that's not how they were going to write the show anymore it's like he took it with him when he left yeah like yeah and it's a shame I mean I get why they want to do it they want to be more sincere and more buddy hugs and stuff but that's not why I liked it yeah it's like every joke is like oh we got to make sure we word this in a way that it's like not going to bother anybody and it's just like yeah it's not funny now like this this season in particular there scenes where I'm like come on there's a joke there and you're not you're not you know it's the joke's slightly off camera because you're just not willing to go there like yeah yeah but yeah maybe he needs to get buff again and they need to focus on making the game still pretty buff not compared

to season one The Beard season one I didn't even recognize him when he came out yeah cuz he was yeah he was in great shape yeah yeah the beard is is a good look though yeah definitely I got to watch season one again maybe just go back and watch it I Rew watched season one cuz it was so good and then season two I was like oh man okay especially the Standalone episode in season one is so great excellent actually the Standalone episode in season 2 was good too it was one of the better episodes yep yeah with um Isaac azimov and all that something about that was good yeah that was I don't know if the did you watch the most recent episode Luke the one in the Mansion Mur mystery one I thought it was all right um there a couple things made me laugh out loud in it but again it's

just not not as cons L funny as I feel like it was to keep watching this I just wanted to be are evid meant to be working on something that's really timec consuming and stressful they don't seem to go to work very often which is funny cuz that was the plot of season 1 was how often they were at work [ __ ] working on this game I just wonder maybe they've like we've used all the jokes we had about that I don't think they have I think and I just feel like there's stuff in season one that they wouldn't do now it just seems like they wouldn't like there's that whole episode about the Nazis in the game like using the shovel to dig swastick in the ground I feel like that's not a joke they would do now because they that that but funny like that was a it was and it was done in a

way I thought that was wasn't offensive or anything like that it was like they took a serious thing that [ __ ] happens on the internet like CU it's a bunch of [ __ ] well there was something that happened in this one where they in that that other game that sort of they all having SE they're all having sex yeah but it's so it was done so so safely like yes yeah yeah I'll still probably watch it cuz it's easy to watch but did you um it just reminds me just sexy game just remind me of 30 Rock I think you weren't a fan Matt i' L not really watched it I'll be honest yeah oh you weren't a fan either I love it 30 Rock yeah yeah I thought I love it like it yeah I thought you liked it I've never given it a fair shot so it's not really it's it's very

funny but it's not it's consistently funny but there are characters that are funnier than other characters so there are characters throughout it that if you don't find them funny you won't love it anything they ever say but if there's characters you do find funny you will always laugh at them yeah but there's this plot in one episode where he has this brain wave that he's going to try to combine his two favorite things porn and video games cuz why has no one tried to combine porn in video games so he does it he makes it and he gives it to the other guy he's like yeah I'll have a go and he comes in he's like he goes yeah look I played it for a few hours it was okay he's like you've been gone for 6

months yeah I you you just made me think of this with what you said about characters being funny I think in Mythic Quest 2 certain characters were funnier in the role they had in the first season and now it doesn't work so much more like the testers I think were funny when it was the two testers she was secretly in love with her that was that was a good situation now I don't find those characters particular the second they became a a loving couple there was nothing funny that that that either of them say and their replacement testers I mean don't have I love those two actors I [ __ ] love those two guys it's the guy from um the the David Blaine sketches you know the waiter from um sunny it's him oh and the guy who plays the the pedo uncle in Always Sunny with

the the lawyer with the small hands it's those two guys now and so it should be [ __ ] hilarious but it adds nothing no because again they're not making this the humor is just far off Always Sunny is a great example of like it has evolved it's not just blatantly offensive like it was in the start they like the last season where they went to Ireland like that is genuinely moving you know what I mean it is genuinely moving and and and also incredibly funny yeah it's it moving but it's also that scene where Frank's trying to get joh dead to eat a piece of [ __ ] out of the soup as well like it's a combo of like yeah of quite deep like story and then also eating literally eating [ __ ] out of a bow yeah true oh that reminds me no that reminds me Ireland in general

reminds me um I I was watching this clip of Pierce brosman being interviewed by this Irish um uh journalist who says during the interview he goes oh by the way I'm from your hometown and I can't remember what the name of the town is some little town in Ireland and Pier is so moved um by suddenly thinking of his hometown that he lapses back into his original accent really yeah and I've never heard Pi BR but he um cuz he's like you're from there he's like yeah he's like there yeah no no instantly I'll try to find it cuz he starts going and my grandfather God bless him he built a cabin there and like he just [ __ ] you could just see him like his childhood just hitting him and I was like [ __ ] he is Irish I've just never heard him speak

Irish had a train out of himself when uh I know I mean Christian Bell probably just talks like like us trying to sound like we weren't from penth but just you know Christian Bale does interviews for movies in the accent that he does in the movie and when you hear him him do his Welsh accent he sounds like this and like when you hear him yelling at his wife or sister or anyone like that yeah you [ __ ] off you not get any of my money yeah or have you heard that interview with um with him when he's a kid when he's he just done Empire of the Sun and he's like um I went to China mate they don't even live in houses they live in [ __ ] Huts huts [Laughter] he's I'm a little kid I got more money than

them I know you try and take my [ __ ] money Mom I'm [ __ ] I'll have you 20 years from now you still be trying I'll still be telling you to [ __ ] off I don't know what that accent was I'm sorry I'm sorry Christian you're one of my favorite ACC yelling at us um speaking of Christian Bale we've got some Batman news yeah a little bit about bman news yeah we do I mean everybody knew this but uh yeah but it's good to hear her say it I guess yeah so Maran calad coad kard no there's in there there's El's in there I can see him yeah but yeah no I'm just messing uh yeah she uh she dies in uh not her character uh Al G Talia alul

Talia dies in The Dark Knight Rises and it's a it's a bad scene it's a bad death scene and her bad acting Bad scene yeah and she has admitted it I mean she is an Academy Award yeah finally she's like yeah in fact she says and I quote I agree with you oh wait wait let me back up let me back up so the interview with TV show le Ray detin so the storytellers of something right c i was ask you did die quite implausibly [Laughter] I don't know if that's a bad translation of the French or whether that this just [ __ ] you know smartass poet of a journalist asked her that in that way but she said I agree with you I didn't

nail that scene I didn't find the right position I didn't find the right way I was stressed something sometimes it happens and you screw something up and that I screwed up but I don't not all think she blames herself I don't think I mean Christopher noan do that again yeah but also that was descript that that's just well the script doesn't say you know do this like I think you don't know that it doesn't yeah maybe yeah he could be very specific it could be extremely specific did he write The Script he must might have been Jonathan Jonathan brother yeah probably I would thought he Jonathan would have written like [ __ ] she went back in time and [ __ ] suddenly it was all

[ __ ] David goyer then you you have to decide if she begins that's why I said that sorry just in case you thought that was a yeah and when I rolled my eyes at David go it wasn't at his writing his writing is excellent he should just never be allowed to direct yeah how how is somebody who so sorry for for the audience right blade wrote Blade 2 right great movies both great movies wrote and directed Blade 3 the [ __ ] happened there yeah because the like he just forgot the plot that he wrote for the first two and like it doesn't make any sense anymore it's just Jesus Christ yeah yeah look before we go to the Afterparty we've got a lot we got a lot still to

talk about um and there's a lot of uh but but while we're talking about Christopher you know Batman movies uh there is some Christopher Nolan news do we want to just squeeze this in sure yeah yeah um Chris forol is uh making a a movie specifically for middle-aged men I guess he always does he he made movies for us when we were younger and now he's now that we're older he's making movies for us still he's slightly older than us so he knows what we're going to like and so he's just yeah he's like you'll like this cuz I like it now and it'll take me 5 years to make it and then when it comes out you'll be into this yeah um but I read this too that for the Giants he's he's just going to use really big puppets yeah when I read the headline I this is insane but for some reason my brain went

he's going to have like a little puppet when he's directing and I don't like obviously that's not the case what my brain went when I read the it just said Christopher noan to use massive puppet directing the Odyssey well it's going to be a big puppet Matt it's going to be like one of those rigodons do it again Mar and cot you don't look chrisop in the eyes anymore you look at just everything puppet you got what's that he's not happy with that Maran I thought you did great but the puppet is not happy with your performance um that's what I thought but uh no you're right it is a it's it's it's a a giant or Cyclops I think Cyclops film yeah

yeah because this is um what's the old Harry Hasen version of this there was there was yeah yeah the Argonauts yeah yeah so he's doing the Odyssey he's doing I mean it's not going to be stop motion but it's going to be prac stop motion skeletons yeah I hope it is but I want stop Mo skeletons in every movie yeah I don't know there's something the way stop motion skeletons move and I just I enjoy them yeah to me I think it's because that's what we watched when we were kid I assume that in ancient Greece not I mean in ancient Greece when there were skeletons when stop motion skeletons fighting Argonauts um that that's just how they [ __ ] move like if a skeleton moved like a man I'd be like what's going on there even just make it even scarier is

that first of all oh God a skeleton and why is it moving like that yeah what's my why does it look like it has a low frame rate yeah but it does sort of make sense that would be all that more janky movement cuz it doesn't have the muscles to move slowly so it's yeah yeah I always think too if the um Evil Dead has a bunch of stop motion stuff and it looks great yeah but it doesn't look great but it looks correct to my yes like to my memory like yeah yeah yeah but I guess like when you saw I mean when we saw Jason The Argonaut for a kid the first were kid [ __ ] hell yes especially Clash REM I didn't even watch it I'm not going to watch it ever but um like I don't remember thinking oh that looks janky bit cool I just

remember thinking that man is fighting [ __ ] skeletons and [ __ ] sea monsters and is going to grab that woman she's gone she's done they're in [ __ ] trouble yeah that's right yeah speaking of which my daughter is into fairy tales at the moment which is great cuz it's just lowkey fantasy so you know it's all just good stuff and we're watching um Disney movies at the moment the older ones especially cuz they're just you know public domain boom boom boom boom all the Grims and all them right um but she doesn't know about cliches and tropes and she doesn't know she doesn't know the heroes always live to the end and you know like so it's watching movies with her is is so you you get what the actual story is trying to convey to like this is we watch Snow

White the other night right and um the [ __ ] witch terrifying she's [ __ ] dipping the poison apple and she's talking to this [ __ ] bird that she's Crow and she's like when she eats it she'll die and my daughter's like [ __ ] what like they're going to kill Snow White you know likees armor yeah that's right yeah yeah yeah lra watched The Lion King with Jenna and then had a lot of questions when I put her to bed that night about um why did his dad die and I'm like oh cuz scar threw him off and she goes yeah yeah but why and it's like oh because he wanted to be the king and she's like no no no no but why did he die and it's like oh because he got hit by the wilderbeast she goes yeah yeah but why did he die

internal bleeding and I was like no I'm like panicking going yeah I don't know how to satisfy your Curiosity on this one no yeah yeah yeah yeah why did he die okay good question yeah yeah um in other Odyssey news and followup of sorts Mia goth is going to be in it we're a big fans of M goth as listeners will know good news she's a great she's welcome to be in it yeah another one who changes her voice yeah I thought I wonder what oh [ __ ] her real life voice is [ __ ] terrifying I know I'm like believe she's married to wat's face is she still I mean probably

legally they've got a child together so oh have they okay yes they do yeah um I just wanted to point out though that there is another movie based on the Odyssey that's coming out before this and it looks [ __ ] awesome and uh R fines plays an elderly adicus coming home it's called the homecoming this do you is it I hav but oh it's a screener award screener is it yeah yeah I've got it yeah interesting I didn't know that's what it was I got to watch it yes it is and you should watch it and what I love about this that this got right and I assume the Odyssey I don't know what it's going to do with Nolan something original and awesome but the Odyssey predates Classical Greece right it's actually set in the

like between the Myan Greek period and the classical Greek period of like Athens and spider and stuff so actually all the stuff that you think of when you think of ancient Greece that's hundreds of years in the future and this looks Proto grease and I think I'm going to enjoy the accuracy of that when I see this and now that I know that there is a screener it might it might be on the I won't look now I won't look now yeah okay I'll have to watch that I didn't realize it's what it was yeah if you watched it before I do tell me if it's good I will on this podcast or real bottom of the spreadsheet hand of the basketballs yeah I spelled it wrong but yeah that's even better yeah
