I have some good news. Well, it's interesting news. OK, go on. I spoke to my professor. OK. Oh, about the the yeah. I said like whatever you did with your electrocute didn't work. Didn't work right. Didn't. Work. Yeah. Oh, OK. So now I get to go see my surgeon again. Oh, OK, so he's allowed it. Yep, he's allowed it. Now I've got to convince the surgeon.
OK. So we'll see what happens, but I'll be allowed to go back to another ketamine treatment, which does work for a little bit, but not long periods. So I might go a ketamine treatment, go on holiday for a bit and then get my leg cut off. For any new listeners or watchers, what Luke is discussing is the fact that he wants his leg removed. Yes, because it annoys him. It annoys me and my sister wants me to get cremated so she can keep the ashes. OK, that's better than not cremated so she can keep the leg here.
Well done to Multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke, and Dan. Multiple Nerdgasm, Your guide to all things nerdy. Although she prefer it, yeah, she would prefer it without it being cremated. It's just that's going to be harder to do. Right. Could you do that thing where you can get the ashes crushed into a diamond and then she can make a piece of fashionable jewelry out of it? I think she just wants the ashes. All right. I prefer, all right.
I just prefer them to be ashes. I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah, I'd burn it anyway. So. Like I can't. Burn a diamond. You'd get crushed into a like a gem or something and that'd be a bit nicer, not just burn it and then let's see, I'm trying to are they just going to? They're just going to take it I. Assume is there any tattoos on that leg? Yes, unfortunately. You're going to lose some tattoos. That's rather be. That's going to turn into a canvas you like stretch the skin
on the under I. Don't think they really support that practice any you. Should get, you should just just get some really, really out there tattoos on it between now and then just to do it knowing that they'll be gone in a year. You know what I mean? Like, why does it say all this stuff about the Jews? Well. Just or just in text, right Whereabouts. They'll do it just right. Don't you fucking cut my leg off. Yeah, that's right. Just just do the little line with the half scissors.
Where they go? Cut here, but we'll wait and see. It's months away, but. At your shorts line, just get a tattoo of your balls. Oh yeah. Fucking hell. That's a good one. If you do that, there's a good chance your sister won't want it anymore. No, she'll still want it. She doesn't care. She just wants the ashes of my burnt leg. Oh yeah. It's not going to see it. Yeah, yeah, she'll know. So I've got to get Reggie Rabbit
tattooed again, but I'm not going to waste money getting tattoos that are going to be cut off anymore. You're not tempted to just get a swastika just just for the for the experience of going into a tattoo fala and them not knowing you're gonna lose the leg and just go on. It's like a Nazi paraphernalia all down the right side. Actually, a lot of the tattoos that I know, if you were to walk in and after that they would go no. A lot of them, not all of them. Yeah, well, all the ones I've spoken to because I'll tell me every night.
I can do all about it. He's not a guy. Getting one. The guy who who would do it, I don't talk to him. Very often though but though when I go to get one. I don't have to. I just give him a little nod and he. Knows sometimes people will call up and go and I get one and it's yeah, no one's going to do that. They actually did have one time we show a bit sad that they couldn't do a tattoo on someone. It was a kid who was about 14 or something and he's like, can I get a tattoo? I need something covered up.
And they're going, we can't even get your parents. Well, not even parents consent that agents like no, he's like, I've got my parents put a SWAT sticker on me and I want that gone. And they're so fucking. That's one of the times where they probably were seriously considering maybe. Regular rules, yeah. Yeah, because it's not something here he. Parents tattooed a swastika. I don't even want to know the. Yeah. But the problem is though, I'd be thinking just because I'm like this, I'd be thinking this
is probably going to be a problem of a bigger sort in future and I probably don't want to be involved. Yes. Stay. Out of that but you feel gonna feel because. Somehow they'd spin it so that you were the baddie, you know, Yes, tattooing a kid rather than the one who put the swastika. Yeah, that family is going to be in court and I'm going to get dragged into it if I. Do this that. Is my name will be associated with them forever? I'd be worried about them not dragging you to court, but
dragging you somewhere else. I'll say that. Yeah, yeah. It's. A long way to drag someone it. Is. From Australia anyway. Not if you live in Poland. I didn't think that part through. Let's get away from that. That's. What Hitler said. Oh God, we should. We should really have done our homework on this. Now that I see it all, yeah. Yeah. I I admit that when you stack it all up like this, it looks.
Bad. Yeah, on paper this looks bad, doesn't it? Yeah. Can we talk about some Star Wars news? Yeah, because I really want to know about this. Has Ryan Johnson finally admitted that he's not doing his trilogy? Indirectly, indirectly. So he's he was asked about it this week and and so, OK, what's the, what was he asked exactly? He was asked OK an interview with the independent. He was asked why the movies haven't been made yet His his trilogy right.
So if you don't know, Ryan Johnson made The Last Jedi it. Was quite 10 years. Yeah, mixed. Yeah, feedback on that? Mixed. Was it mixed opinions? Mixed mixture of bad feedback. Yeah, some people really liked it. Some people really hated it. Kathy Kennedy really liked it. I think people hated it. We hated it. We hated it. But they said at the time, I think before it came out, they said he was, oh, we're going to get him to do a trilogy. It's so good.
And then it came out and everyone, yeah, there was a lot of discussion about about it. And well, there was a lot of from Disney and then just Ryan bringing it up every now. And he kept saying, yeah, I'm still doing it, I'm still doing it. So they've asked him why haven't they been made yet and are they still happening? And he said this is a quote. What happened? Knives Out? I mean, I kind of went down a murder mystery rabbit hole. I'm focused on making other stuff. But I mean, I wouldn't rule it
out happening down the line. If I get back in the Star Wars universe someday, I'd be the happiest person. So he decided instead of doing a multi, it's. Not happening. $1,000,000 movie, multi billion dollar trilogy that's going to go to movies he decided to do with Netflix movies. I mean, they're better than is. Yeah, I, I, I don't my knives out and that's what we should stick with, Yeah. To. I've got some. I'll stick to that actually. The tone of I mean this is very different.
And even if they do ask me back, I might not even say yes. I'll be very excited, I'll be very honoured if that happens, like, OK, so it's not happening. So yeah, to me, that's an official. Yeah, it's definitely because they're not going to ask him back. There's no not a chance in hell. But he had. That documentary, the director in Star Wars and all this, they had pegged him as just the one who was going to carry it forward. And just Butch. James. Gunn meant I remember the.
Gun of Star Wars. Yeah, I remember sitting in the theatre because I, and I'll say to this day, I loved The Force Awakens. I think the Force. Awakens, it was back to Star Wars. Excellent. It is everything I loved about Star Wars. Is it a soft reboot? Yes. Does it make raise some questions? Yes. But we were going to have two more movies to answer those questions, right? And then I remember sitting in
the theatre for fucking. What's this called the last? Jedi. Jedi. Yeah, And thinking this, this isn't good. This is really, really ungood. It's. Not the same as the other movie. Yeah. Like it's just it's. Too different. Why this? With Luke Skywalker, they sort of turned him from being like, I understand, like we need to get away from. I thought they were going to make him more of like a their problem is not like Dark, where
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, get away from this. There's no pure and no, he cried. And it wasn't burnt. It wasn't what they thought we hated about it because everyone goes, oh, you hate that you had a female general? No. Fucking annoys me but there's a female general? Fucking no. They say that. Yeah, you know what? There was an Asian woman. That's what you hated, wasn't it? Again, no. Nobody cares about that.
No. Poorly written characters? So what? I mean, it's not that nobody cares about that that's the problem. Oh yeah, Is that there were idiots who cared about it. Sure. But yeah, but there's, there's people that there's people that aren't watching Doctor Who now because he's black. Like, you know what I mean? It's like, no, I'm not watching it because it's not very good anymore. Do you think some of them have come back from when they went to a woman?
They dropped off, but now they're it's back to a man. Maybe they've come back. Yeah, maybe drop off because he's black. He's also. Gay. Yeah. But does it make it better or worse? Yeah. Doesn't. Make it. I don't know if the doctor is gay or whether just the actor is gay, but. I know I saw a clip of it and it looked fun and I went I'm still not going to watch it. Yeah, that's pretty much how I
feel about Doctor Who at this point, too. Speaking of Ryan Johnson, I watched a Ryan Johnson thing this week because. Yeah, because I don't mind Knives Out and the other one Knives Out and. Glass Onion. Glass Onion, I thought they were OK and if they do another one, which I assume they are, I'll, I'll watch that too. On Netflix for free, right. I'm not going to the cinema to watch it, but you know. That's the trilogy. Next trilogy he should make. Daniel Craig, Yeah. So I was, yeah, Daniel Craig's
excellent. And they have fucking tons of stars, you know, like it's just, it's a who's who they're. Good, yeah. So they're fine. So he's also doing a murder mystery series called Poker Face. Oh, that show has been amazing about it. So I decided to watch it. You've seen it too. So I put on Tasha. Olivio. You know, whatever her name is. Yeah, I put on one episode, and right at the start there was this plot hole. And I was like, is no one going
to address this plot hole? And then it occurred to me, I'm like, if this plot hole ends up being the twist of this episode and the answer to the mystery, I'm not watching any more after this. And sure enough, by the end of the episode, they're like, wait a minute. I'm like, oh come on, come on. So I'm out. I'm not 100%. Out continue watching it's it's it's just standalone episodes. It's just a. Would you say you're subverted but not in a good way? Yeah, that's right. Disappointing way.
I think what he did was set that up to go in a certain direction, a good direction, and then subverted that to go in a shit direction instead. Luke, if you are telling me right now, if you look me in the eye and tell me that I should keep watching it, I will. You should keep watching it. I know season 3 should come out and I'm about to get standing in so I can start watching it. Right, OK. I I enjoyed it, it's just it's a nice easy. Watch it's It was definitely an easy watch, except that I was going Why isn't anyone talking about the thing?
The audience shouldn't notice things the characters haven't noticed, right? If I'm there noticing, the detectives there should notice it. It gets better, I think. OK, And it's just insane. You've murder mystery every week. Go with it. That I like. I'm into that. I'm into that format for sure, which is what I was hoping for. OK. So it's one of those. One of those she notices things that other people don't, she. Oh, OK.
The plot mat is the reason it's called Poker Face is because she can tell when someone's lying like so. Yeah, OK. That's that's the conceit, right? Is that a? Superpower. Or just she Just no, she just can. She's just really good. She works. That's really good. That's why she used to count cards. And yeah. Like someone will just say something and it'll be hold on what?
And then that would lead her down, and that's all it is. It was an interesting premise. I'm not sure she's got the charisma to lead a whole show. We'll see. We'll see. I enjoy her. I watched something. I don't get her though. Oh. You'll never get her, Luke. No, no, not like that. She's very. Famous at this point. I don't know, she's just very different from the characters to sometimes plays and I can't place what she how she would really be she actually.
Is. Person, Yeah. It's the girl who tells everyone that that guy has a big Dick in the 1st. You will know her from one of your favorite movies 1. Of my favorite. In the first American Pie movie, but I hope just to finish that. What is she in? Something else first. That's all I really know. I don't need old cast. And crew. I just need her. What am I doing? I don't know how to use the Internet. She's also on that show where
she keeps coming back from the dead. Right, that was. OK, yeah, and that's her all. Right, all right. She was on the second season that I couldn't get into it because it got to be different, OK. Yeah, I think I only I dropped off for the first season 2. The Simpsons. Oh no, I thought was in one of your I forget the show you like. Not hackers, the other one you watch. Oh she is in Glass Onion. I didn't know that. Hackers. The other one that makes.
Sense the other. One you watch all the time, that you watch once a year, The one that it wouldn't make today can. You. Please you know what I want to. Do the 1 is. Going to be like, oh you mean Love Thy neighbor, The old British comedy that. Was used to watch the racist guy. No, I can't remember. It might, might not be that one. What do I watch every year? It was when they're running around, they're trying to take pictures. To do not take pictures. Oh no, that's not what I was
going to say. They're trying to trick some guy into being gay to take pictures of him to. I can't remember, Maybe I've made this up, maybe trick someone? Into being gay. They're trying to get someone really drunk so they could take pictures of him to put it in a different. Do you mean fan Wilder? Maybe you've made this up. I don't know. No, no, no. I'm. Sure, that's a movie. No, if that can't remember it from that then stop that.
I I do, I do love those. I mean, I don't love. Them and it may not be heard I'm thinking of. Problematic movies from the 80s like Revenge of the Nerds where? Oh, yeah, like pure rape someone. But I I'd love to remake them ex and and change nothing except for the dialogue and have them admit that it's rape. Do you know what I mean? Like, imagine they were like, oh, how are we going to see that girl naked? We could rape her, you know, have you, have you tried rape? Because that's essentially what they're doing.
Like, might be you could dress up like a boyfriend. And if it was dark, she wouldn't know it was you. It's like, yeah. That's just rape it late I mean. One of them is like, isn't that legal? They're like, don't worry about. That. Like Arthur, she. Just wanted to say 2025. She goes, she goes, that was amazing, Then finds out it's like him and he just goes, well, maybe have you found someone who actually respects you? And no, that's not what that is. Yeah. What's that one that you told me
to watch, Luke? That is an excellent movie with Bill Murray Porky. Is that the? The no, no, the Porky's He's a cave counsellor. Meatballs, meatballs, meatballs. That it's such a. Great movie, except for the scene where he viciously raped somebody. She's actually. Just comedy for comedy. For comedy, I. Guess, I guess. She's actually screaming. Yeah. Biting him over the mouth. Yeah, and just fucks her comedy. Very different time.
Next thing he mentors this little boy in like a really touching way. So out of place the whole. Scene where that that human hurt that doesn't need to be in the movie. At all? No. Adds no value? No. No. Look, I watched something that people, a lot of people told me to watch this because I am. Currently us including us I'm. Currently in jury duty here in the state of Rhode Island. So everybody told me to watch the show.
Well, the first they asked me, have you seen that show? Jury duty? And I was like, oh, I know what? It is not the movie Jury Duty starring. Starring Paul. Sure, sure. When I said, I said to Jenna, we need to watch jury duty. And she was like, all right. And I said. I said, oh, not the Paulie Shore movie because I knew we're we're Pauly Shore fans in this house. Yeah, yeah. I'll watch Encino man any day. Encino man's good biodome is. Biodome also and there's a some rape in that as well.
Yeah, what's the most rape in Biodome? I don't remember it. I'm not surprised though. No, I don't remember though. Yeah. But I watched I so I watched I've watched 2 episodes so far of that the jury duty show. So any listeners who don't know the premise of this show, it's a. It's. Filmed as if it's a documentary about jury duty, except they tell you at the beginning, but the Joe. Schmoe show from many years ago. I don't. Know I don't know that the Joe.
Schmoe Show was one of the first ones to have the premise where like everyone's, you know, except for okay, this guy. So it's. It's, it's filmed as if it's a documentary. This guy, this, this one guy, Ronald, who thinks it's a documentary about jury duty. But in reality, this whole thing is all actors except him. He's the only person who doesn't isn't an actor in this, but they just play out this insane courtroom situation that he's thinks he's in the jury and it's fucking hilarious. Have you watched it all yet? Man, I've only watched 2.
Episodes, I mean, and I've got to say I don't how did James master not get an Academy Award for this? He's if this. Really. Is filmed as I've described, where you get one take one shot, and if it is, this guy thinks it's real. The last. Episode Matt So they actually reveal in the second to last episode, and then the last episode is a deconstruction of how they did it all really. And the actors? Are all like every single wacky thing we did, we said to each other.
Today is the day he's going to guess it because he this is way too over the top. Even some of the characters. That were meant to be sort of weird. And he was meant to be, like, outcast. He was just such a nice guy. He became friends with them. Yeah. They're like you. Yeah, that's right. There's that. That sequence. So this is just a random guy. The funniest stuff is. Yet to come they intentionally. Leave him, I think to the side so that he's not, he doesn't
interact with him that much. The only conversation they have is at one point the guy walks past him and goes, oh, I'm just going to go to the bathroom and rub one out. And then the guy and then he, he goes to him. Do it now while you've got time. And then like that's the only conversation they have. But then later, like shortly after that, he fucking pulls a filing. Cabinet over onto. Himself in this. Ridiculous accident. I forgot that's how what happened. And then and.
Then. They, there's this fucking sequence where all the jurors are there being interviewed with this documentary. And then we'll start telling these fucking stories about he was, he got back from from Vietnam and went off to Nepal to do work with children. And they've all got stories. About what amazing guys this guy Ronald's like. And then they all. Like, Oh yeah, he made me this origami crane and they all got one. Except Ronald. So fucking funny. I think the funniest.
Thing it's going to come up and I'm not going to ruin it for you, but there is a sex scene that I think is the funniest thing in the world. It's not. Only the funniest thing in this show. It might be the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life, yes. OK. I got to keep watching. It's unbelievable to me. I don't know how they keep a straight face, even just like simple things. This is a sequence where I I couldn't know, is this planned? Maybe, Maybe they'll explain this.
The bailiff comes to the hotel room and the weird guy next door has opened the doors between the rooms. He's all we got. We got adjoining rooms. We could leave the doors open or whatever. And he's being weird. And the bailiff comes in and she goes, all good, you're both here. And she starts talking. The other guy walks back into his room and then comes around outside. He's standing behind her and she's yelling. At the roots room and I'm like how?
How is nobody? Laughing at this, he's I think I. Think it's a very hard thing to do because silly. You have to get. Actors that aren't known, yeah, that. To do that has. To be a gamble, it's like I'm more. Often amazed at, you know, people like Sasha Baron Cohen, whether you like him or not, to be able to do that and keep a straight face amazes me. I couldn't do. It you guys know that I'll fucking laugh. Yeah, every take, but I thought,
I think. About I think about we've we've made films and stuff before and then you can see it or you watch the bloopers on Always sunny or and like the Ricky Chavez, this atrocious yes, he'd never. Be imagine him trying to. Do this like. It's very hard, yeah. Like, not laugh. Yeah, if anyone. Could I'll make it work? And you? Just like too well known. Just that bit where? He. Sits there when he first comes in and presumably the guy wasn't noticing that it's James Marston
at first, right? So he's then thinking, I've got to get this guy's attention and he goes, the guy looks over and fucking do with socks that say like new bounce or something, and James Marston goes, I thought that guy's socks. I said Sonic and I'm in that Sonic movie. Fuck off mate. Yeah, no, but then his. Response is like, oh, that wasn't very, very good and then. And he's like, his face. He's like, yeah. Yeah, he. Goes. My favorite? Reaction was like, he's like,
oh, yeah, I know, yeah, I recognize you. You're in that. And he goes, yeah, yeah, you know, X-Men, Westworld. And he goes, oh, you're in Westworld. And he goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Funny, yeah. Yeah. I have. Mad. Respect for James Martin I didn't have before. Yeah. And. I actually liked him already but that made me like him heaps more.
He's great. Like I said, he. Says he acts as I'm like, Oh my God, how are you doing this? You know, please. Keep watching, he's back. He's back in fucking Doctor Doom, right? He's masters. Oh, he is probably. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think he's Cyclops back. Yeah, that'd be good. Fucking yeah, but to me it's. Just. Lois Lane's. Kids, Dad, sorry. I'm sorry, cyclops. I'm not a fan of cyclops though. But you're not meant.
To be because he's the. Straight. He's the straight laced one. Yeah, yeah. He's not fun. He wants to play by the rules. He'd be fighting with Iron Man and stuff in Civil War. He's a loose cannon. Literally. Yeah, he he was. Interested in everybody. Everybody in. The fucking universe. Yeah, everyone who told you. That now before you go to you've. Got to watch this show so everyone. So when this show came out, I
fucking I benched this in a weekend try. I couldn't, I couldn't stop so good and I hate prank shows and I hate same like. Jim, we put this on. Jenna was like, you're not going to like this. And I was like, let's wait and see. Here's the thing. Was he was not mean for the. Joke that's. Right, it's not me they've. They've done it right. They've done it the right way around. Yeah, it's stuff everyone. Else is. Stupid.
Yes, He's the straight man. He's just reacting. To things because I hate those. Ones where they go out and do that stuff and annoy people and that's not fun, but this is the other one to that. There's one on the Internet and I can't remember what it is that's the same and he always just makes himself look stupid to catch other people's reactions. Like he goes into libraries and watches loud porn and has his headphones on but not plugged in. Do you know what I mean? And so everyone's looking over at him.
I don't that would. Annoy me, yeah. That would annoy me, but he's he's. Looks silly but anyway. But anyway, when this was over, everyone said this was so good, but you're never going to be able to do it again because people know the the gimmick thing now and they've. Said. Well, we've already filmed another one, so season 2 just has to be edited because I wondered. If they had to do a thing where you'd have like 10 of this going on at the same time just to try and get one that worked, because
I know they've done things like that before too, like in the, in the. The final episode when they're deconstructing, it's basically all of them going. We knew it'd be pretty good, but we had no idea it would be this good. Yeah. Like, I think that was just funny even. Though they, as they're saying, they've done another one, I think the next one may work, but they're not going to be able to do another one for years because yeah, I have a. Feeling what was that? And it's totally different.
But what was that mockumentary about The Who drew all the Dicks it's at on the cars at school? Because that I know what you. Mean I don't think I. Ever watched it? But I know what you mean. It was. So funny because it took itself so seriously. As as a as. A Netflix crime doco series, except it was who drew the Dicks. But then they did, they did a sequel, and it was somebody poisoned in the entire school and everyone got diarrhea. And it's like, that's way less funny.
And if you don't know why that's less funny, then that's why this is not as funny. Yeah. But now I think if they do another one after they do the second one, so people start to know what's happening and people cotton onto it. So you're going to leave time between these for people to forget about because like you guys don't remember the Joe Schmo show, which was probably the first one to do that and there was a sequel to that as well. And right, Right. But it's been like 10-15 years between that.
So I'm often. Amazed Sasha Baron Cohen can still do things. I think he has trouble now. There was a period there where I was just like, how do people? If he walked into a room, I'd be like, that's Sasha Baron Cohen. I think he. Was trying to. Prank if you look at. Especially if things got weird. I'd be like, I know who you are. Yeah, yeah, it's. Really stuff he's been. Doing the PB's been going to antagonize. Yeah, I know they're not his audience. Yeah, I think that's.
Yeah, that's the thing too. I. Know I'm not so I don't like prank stuff either, but I never disliked Sacha Baron Cohen's stuff because I think the people he's. He's. Encouraging getting to admit. People that they're racist and stuff. Yeah, that's the thing. I guess I'm OK with people fighting themselves as racist. I didn't mind. Ali G and stuff. But then when he went out and did his and just and I was. I don't know, I just found boy pretty funny because he, like I
said, he's this bumbling racist idiot and he just gets other people to admit that they're racist too. Like, yeah, basically that was the premise. Yeah, actually I'll be. I haven't. Actually seen them, but I just know I won't like that. Oh, no, no, no. They're. Good, but you should you should watch the Borat movie or even that. What was that character? The there was one where he's he's a gay Swede, Bruno, and right, yeah, he's so he's on the beat.
But this is again, it's before the movie. He's on the beach and there's this these American fuck wits, right? And he's going with you on a talk to the camera and they're like, that's Borat, but he's doing for the camera and they're like fucking showing their muscles and stuff. He's like, yes, my my audience would love this. And what about your backsides? And then they like fucking, they just going nuts showing off their bodies and he's like, OK, now say hello gay TV Sweden and they're like. Yeah.
But see if that like they must know only guys like those muscles, yeah. Talk about that. Yeah, well, actually. There's some there's some news, right? So Luke, I don't know if you know about the Perth Bears. Do you know about the Perth Bears? Is that the? New NRL team that's going to be coming in in a few years. It's both. The new. NRL team fortunately by accident. It's both the. New NRL team and also a gay club
in Perth that when they announced that there was going to be a, that's already existed, it was always there called Perth Bears, right? And then Perth announced that they were going to have a footy team called Bears. Record attendance at this gay club. Of footy fans. Who didn't know it was a gay club? That's really I. Find that amusing. Like I've been to gay clubs. I find them in fun, yeah. Yes, and actually. Football fans probably would not find them.
Yeah, fun. And I remember Matt. You, me and Gordo went to a not a gay club, but a gay bar one night. And it took us a long time before we realized we were in a gay bar. Do you know what I mean? Like we would. Yeah. I know hardly any chicks here, which is nice. We could just talk to blokes, you know. Yeah. Yeah. No pressure. And then I do not try to impress.
Anybody. Yeah. I have picked up at gay bars before which is OK. Picked up women or. Women. Yes, I know somebody who? I won't say who it is because I don't you, but when they they accidentally went to a gay bar once with some friends and made a met somebody didn't had no fucking idea the con like the context. They'd accidentally walked into having a great old time with this person for like a couple of hours or whatever, and then when the person tried to kiss them, realized, you know, like it was.
Like in Jaws when the when? The camera does that thing. Went back. Through the. Night in the head. And then they're like. I'm on a date, yeah. And then I. I mean to. The. Credits just said oh sorry. There's been a huge misunderstanding, no? Offense, I wish I was young again. I could just make out with dudes and have it not matter. Make out with dudes. Left and right now it's just. Yeah.
Yeah. I know something that happened to as well back home, back in the old neighborhood, not at a club but at a party and same thing. It's like when you replay it back because the guys like it seems so. Obvious. Yeah, they're. Really getting along and but then the guy and again, I won't say who it is, but my friend, you you guys know him, but was was thinking like, fuck, man, this guy's I'm really clicking with this guy. Yeah, I mean, and then just what he was thinking about.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But then, maybe then the time to consider. Then the guy. Said the guy said to him is something happening here and and he said there's definitely something. So I think it's because I knew what's happening and then if I did click, I go like, sorry, not interested. But I think a lot of times when women go there, that's all because they're not hitting on them. Which is where? I. Have a conversation. I feel bad for the.
Other people involved in these stories though, because it's like. Yeah. For for us it's funny and hilarious, but for them it's probably a fucking horrible, embarrassing experience. I already can just. Go with it. I would be embarrassed. If that happens, even with a woman that these are accused like you like it would. Just. I don't know. That's not what you say that, but I'm not. Sure. Would there ever be a situation
where you were, like, out, just you met up with a woman and, you know, you say I'm really feeling there's something between us here. Is there feeling between US? And she was like, yeah, yeah. And that would be misunderstood like. Would that happen? Yeah. Exactly mate. I get embarrassed when a waitress says enjoy your meal and I say yeah you too, you like. But I just mean that. I can never come. Back to this restaurant, maybe it's different.
These days, but like, especially when we were young, the the, the you have to do a bit of mental legwork before you would even consider like, well, this is me and another guy. Like, yeah, it's not. Why would it's not? Yeah, for that person. It's like on the table already, but for for for you. So you haven't even considered that that could be what this is, because for example. Matt, I remember the first time you and I worked out that we both loved Monkey Island, right? Sure. And we were like, I remember at one point somebody said like, it
was Gordon who I knew and you knew, but I didn't know you that well yet. And he had that tiny little ponytail for a while. Oh yeah. And, and I remember I said he looks like guy burst 3 point and you're like, oh, fucking do you like Monkey Island? And then it was like, oh, fucking that's, that's it, that's it. New best friend. That's it. And we started making a. Fucking yeah, that's. It and then I was like, is something happening here? Yeah.
But you just don't. But one. Of them. Here's the thing, in all of these instances, one person was gay, right? So one person did know they were hitting on someone. So it's like when you were talking to a woman and she's saying whatever she's saying and you're like, I fucking agree with that. I fucking. Agree with that. I agree with all this. I also like that. Sure, yeah. You know, yeah, I want to have. I want to.
Have tons of kids too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I just want to have 10 feminists. That's what I want as kids. Yeah, actually you would. These people probably had better conversations with the gay people, but that's what I. Mean, yeah, I agree. I agree. Nothing funny about Meatballs the movie. Nothing funny about it. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. But yeah. Yeah, I think people may. Drop the gun when they've just heard bears?
Yes, that's very funny. Let's. Head in. I love it though it. Just made. They were so excited to finally get a team. It's the Bears. I'm Googling it. There's already a club. Club. Fuck yeah, let's go. We're going tonight. And all the boys and all the boys, they haven't had a rugby. League team in like 20 years or something, or maybe even longer I mean. No, I almost went to. Ken's Karate Club, if you
recall. So yes. Because I was looking. For a karate place near my work. Do you recall what that is, Dan? I don't, but I I recognize the story. You're just lucky it was. Closed. Yeah, yeah. I had been for quite a while. I think it was more of an historic icon. So I was working in Alexandria and I wanted to go to, I just want to do karate. I got, you know, as you do, you get, yeah, when you're a guy. I do karate now. Did I tell you guys I've been to
three classes? Yeah, at some point I thought. I would someone who might do karate. I'm not, but I thought maybe I would be, so I'm looking at it if that's still. Open I just put. It might have been a real. Karate class. It might have been a lot of. Things, yeah, pulled up Google Maps, I think at the time put in karate club or karate, the word karate. Saw that nearby there was a place called Ken's Karate Club and I was like, I'll get to that. What the karate?
Club, I'm sure. It was. So I'll go check it out and then I don't know what I'd like, literally planned to do it on the way home to go by and check it out, but. Then something I guess. Maybe I was like, I should check out reviews or something. Maybe because I, you know, there's all different kinds of karate. I went doing like this rabbit hole of different kinds and I was like, oh, what kind of karate is this place? Looked it up a bit, just slightly more than that, and realized.
Look, Ken's Karate page is a. Place So it was illegal to be gay in Australia until the 70s or 80s? Yep, Ken's Karate club was a the karate club where it was basically a gay club and the karate part was just to explain the mats on the why. And also you could go like, oh, where are you off to tonight, honey? I'm just going down to karate club. Going to karate club. Yeah. So that's and obviously it was not still operational. It was just a like a historic icon on the map and I had just.
Just seen karate club, Yeah. I'll go check it out. Yeah, so I, I guess I can understand how as a Perth Bears fan, you might think, oh, they've got a club. Sounds good. Like Panthers. Well, if that's the thing, like every NRL club does have a club like that sell. I mean, so I'm a member of just NRL club officials. If we have an NRL team here, the Hawks. We're just not in the. 8th grade, right? So you you're not on the telly, but we still have a team. We still have a club.
Yep. Maybe they should just embrace. This and they could become. I wonder how long it will take to. Figure it out if you're going to go with the name. Bears, you might. Well, you should maybe just embrace it, but that's what I mean. Imagine the kind of guys that went to this. They probably do fit in at a club with bears. That's what's so beautiful and perfect about this story. The Bears bitch. Great. Relationships that have started
because of this. But hold on, there was. Already there used to be an NRL team called the Bears. Yeah, back in the City. Bears. Yeah, that's right. Can you reuse somebody's? Of course he's a rector. Mascot. Yeah, like if St. George closed down. I can just fuck it. The Dragons. I'm having it, yeah. Why not? It's not in the team anymore. Why isn't there a team? That North Sydney bears. When?
Because remember when I went like Perth did have a band club ages ago? It was because remember Super League and there was 2 rival teams. I kind of remember that. Yeah. And then they. There was the rival team, which is where they placed some money and then they some teams go over. To the Super League like from the normal league but and but then when the Super League closed down they just disappeared some. Disappeared some, came back OK all.
Right and. It was Super League that made it, that the players made money again. Because I, I still remember growing up when I used to watch football and television, You go, this person plays for this team, this position and they're a car. They do. For a job, they're a. Butcher a Carpenter or Yeah, Yeah, because they weren't making money. Guy played for. Parramatta eels and lived across the Rd. from my grandparents like they're right. Yeah, until the Super League came in and went there.
Not a mansion, but. Back into the fibro. House money again, Yeah. Right, funny and. Not while some of them do back a lot of money, a lot of them don't, yeah. They have a noise don't make well fucking I don't make a lot of money moving. It's not like, yeah, that's what I mean, like. Yeah, I'm OK with them not making millions of dollars. Yeah, but also if you look at. Their their lifetime and their career as well. It's not like. Oh, sure, like. Yes, you might.
Have a few players that are making like $500,000 a year. They make that for three years, Yeah, Because they're going to like build up 10 years to get to that point again. And then after. That's really my problem, the limbs. Fall off, I reckon I'd still be. Playing if I didn't have cancer. Yeah, I could have played. If we could, the bunnies. Well, I mean you. Had we would have had a better chance playing for Penrith in that we were from Penrith actually, I would have had a better. Chance playing for Parramatta?
Oh yeah. When I grew up, when. I was playing rugby league, that team. No, when I was. Playing I I was being. I hear they're pretty. Shit, you may still have a chance, Henry. They're a very good team. I wasn't. Quite scouted for South but I was those talks for souths that I could start going into the feeder probably just hearing. About right now that you were. Scouting the game? Yeah. What? Is this?
What is this? Story when I was playing. Rugby league and when I won my grand final I used to play single handedly. Yeah, one it. Myself, I used to play with people who actually did go on to make NRL careers and we had coaches that were playing in the NRL and stuff like I did have a chance there was a girl in. Our school named Lauren, who was a cheerleader in the NFL, so there was that. Not the NFL, the NRL. But no, I used to play. With Eric Grove junior and Eric Grove senior, he was one of the coaches and he used to play.
They both were Parramatta players and very. Could have been me, you could. Have been on the. Footy Show getting cancelled instead of this show. Oh yeah. You would so be cancelled. You could be our show. That's. Even more overtly racist than we are. Yeah, because they we. We different because you would have said. Guys, I just want you to know that I think blackface is OK. Yeah. And then we were like 100% fine with.
Mahatma Gandhi would have been. Me, yeah. Mahatma Coat. Mahatma Coat. Like a tiger. Any. Any. Non Australian listeners, there was no idea. There was a television. Show was called the Footy Show. It was like AAAI. Guess what you call it? Like a variety show. Variety. Show, yeah, but I. Mean you didn't have to watch football to watch no no no, no but it. Was hosted by Football by X4
former X4 players. Yeah, and they would do sketches. And stuff and it like if you've ever heard that Australians are a bit racist, they're probably talking about the. Footy Show Watch The Footy Show Yeah. There's a character, but here's the thing. And we've talked about this play by a very. Very, very, very white. Person. Yeah, he looked very proud. Through recording though, for some reason does. With the shoe police. On his face, yes.
And the accent? Yep. And Australia had no problem with it at all it. It was very popular. It was absolutely. Fine, it was very popular. I'm not going to pretend. I'm not going to pretend that I was like on a crusade against it Australia had. No issues were. Australia had no. Issue with blackface. Go back and listen. To some of the episodes, early episodes of this podcast, I don't know. So hey, hey. It's Saturday.
Who was it? It was. Oh. It was Harry Connick. Junior Harry Connick, junior. Went on and went, yeah, no, this isn't right. And that's when Australia went Oh guy. Did a Jackson 5A Jackson 5 where he was in blackface and he has four other puppets also blackface. I was watching that live when it what happened? Yeah, with Like with My Mum and Live Show. This is and then on the repeat that I did on the the next because I used to do a repeat.
Yeah, that's right. Interesting. The next week. But that was literally the day Australia was told explicitly that blackface is not OK. Yeah, by Harry. Connick Junior. Yep, in like in. The mid 90s, yeah, live on. Television, not in the. 50s people, yeah, midnight. We just we. Didn't know until that day we we literally know. Jokes are we? Didn't know. Didn't. The only time. I remember that anyone got in
trouble and and it's because of the context, but do you remember also in the mid 90s a policeman from the NSW Police Service was. Exposed. Because he went on videotape dressing. So an Aboriginal person had hung themselves in jail, right? And it was very sad. And then he went in blackface with a noose. And. Went into the police stations like Christmas party dressed like that and and that's really. Really foretaste. So he wasn't just in. Blackface. He was dressed as a specific
yeah, yeah, yeah. Indigenous person who had just died in custody. Yeah. And fucking and somebody and people were videotaping and he was like playing it for the camera. And then someone got a whole. One person was. Like should we not do that? Is this not OK? I think the. Problem is, is like, well blah blah, the problem. But The thing is, when Australia was doing it, it wasn't the making fun of that is where the negativity really came from back.
In. Yeah. It didn't have the same history. Oh, that's that's right, It had a. Very different history to my my sense. Of my sense of that kind of stuff, especially when we were kids, was that that that you were like push, push it, see how far you can go with like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Edgy edge Lord humor. And I know a lot of people like, you know, James, I think I thought that up. And mentioned that that's the. Same kind of thing, you look at his tweets that he got in
trouble for. It's the same thing. It's like there was, especially when we were kids in Australia in particular, I can't speak for Australia because that's where I was. There was this thing where it was like, be as fucking edgy as you can and see how far you can get without, you know, even the show. That was when we found out that yes, we can't do this. It wasn't someone because nobody Jackson or anything like it was someone dressed up and being in Jackson 5 and doing the dance moves and dancing. Yeah, and that and he's clearly.
Learned the dance because he fucking loved Michael Jackson. Like it definitely wasn't, I also think. It's not. You can't really say like we didn't know that it wasn't OK. We kind of knew a bit. That's why we were doing it, yeah. Sure, yeah, but but the. It was kind of like almost like we knew there was a line and we were kind of we, we thought we were dancing just on this side of the line. And then suddenly the rest of the world went no, you're. Actually, the line is way, way behind you.
Yeah. The line left the line a long time, yeah. And it's I'm not even. Trying to excuse it. I'm just saying that's what it felt like, I think for a lot of Australians. Was it like, yeah. Oh, OK, yeah, it's funny because. It's a bit edgy, yeah, you're right. But yeah, no, but. As I was saying, like our history with it was very different to the rest of the world where it was making fun of putting people down and like I do.
Remember when you're brought. Up and everybody. 'S doing it. It's very, sometimes very difficult to see. Yeah, to see it the way that. Yeah. And. Also, we put ourselves down. Yeah, yeah. That's. True. Very. Deprecating and there weren't. Anyone except for white people on TV up until fairly recently as well, like when I was a kid, I would watch, I would have reflected back an Australia that I'd never actually saw when I
looked out the window. You know, like like, like we weren't all Crocodile Dundee, but it was definitely more Crocodile Dundee than what was actually happening. Sure. But there were. I do remember that other episode of of Hey Hey It's Saturday. They didn't have the benefit of Harry Connick Junior, which was a bit of AI guess a reverse black face because they had the singer Kamal who's an. Indian. And halfway through him singing they ran in and and threw white paint on his face like I don't remember.
That yeah, it's. Online Famous. Incident. Yeah, God. I know I don't. I don't want to make it sound like I'm excusing any of it. No, I'm just saying, I feel like it's, it's, you know, you grow up in a culture and you just kind of do what everybody else does. And the problem. The thing is, as long as you don't, you don't think about it. Until somebody says, hey, that's, that's a bit, that's racist. And you go, yeah, yeah. I mean, like, I'll, I'll, I used
to think it was perfectly OK, not perfectly OK. Again, I knew I was being edgy, but I used to feel, no, you were in trouble. Doing it was a Chinese. Accent until I literally married a Chinese person that said you need to stop doing that. Yeah. But no as. As I think as long as you learn and move forward, doesn't matter what you've done in your past, what you do now, as long as you go, Once you find out, you go what you've done. No, that's I. No, I. Do believe that as long as yeah,
yeah. That's yeah. I mean, obviously, I think probably it's clear we've reflected on this quite a bit because even on this show, we have done stuff in the past where and then realized, Oh no, no, it's not OK. Yeah. And. That's what other is why I don't like cancel culture. Yeah, should be. Cancelled forever? It should be. If you double down and keep going, there's a problem. But if you go, Oh yes, I'm now going to accept, learn and move
forward. I think if you dig up something, something. Somebody did 1020 years ago. That's ridiculous. It's not fair. But I do think also, I don't think that means you can do something now and then go all cancel culture. It's like, no, no, that's just consequences. You did a thing. Suck it up. But like. James Gum, like he got cancelled for stuff he did old stuff, old stuff and then he went yeah, yeah, I was being edgy and that was now not that this is what I
do, but but he. Also said. The right thing, which was that he got. So. And that's how he also. He also got in early, though he got in before cancelled was a real thing when it was just starting. But he also said the right thing CANCELLED was the. Greatest thing for his career? Yeah, it really was. Because then he got sacked from and when yeah, he did, yeah, he. Got did both, yeah, yeah, but the. The thing that he said, which was true was at the time,
everyone knew it was a joke, like, which also was true, which which people forget. Like it's like, yes, it was still offensive, but everyone knew it was a joke. And jokes used to be free from that certain type of scrutiny where they're not anymore and for better or worse. But yeah, yeah. And I think it shows. In the fact, but you cancelled 10 years ago. He was cancelled after that, Yeah, when everyone had forgotten about it. And I'm good because I'm looking. Forward to his Superman, the
point is. Don't go and drink old episodes of this show and try to cancel this. That's don't. Just do. Don't. Look up old episodes probably could what he shows. Don't type in Mahatma coat and see what you can find. Yeah, see what they've allowed today. Still be on. Yeah, Saturday blackface. Wonder if that'll come. Up, still online and the real. Thing is, as long as you learn and move forward, it's great. If you still mind it, this is
not. Something to be cancelled about. But things things are still a bit edgy because I I heard there was a show this week. I I saw several articles talking about a a British reality show called Virgin Island. Have you heard of this? Is this like Mule fireland? I've not. Seen MILF? Island but let me tell you the Orpheil Island. Let me tell you about MILF Island first. Please do. There was. A reality show where they got mothers to come in.
They got about 10 mothers and then they had ten sons come in. They were. Well, everything. Someone's son. And it was. Yeah, so it's 10 people, 10 people, all mothers, sons. And it was a whole show which just like who they won't go with the others and and with the others also the steel filing same thing. So I'm going to guess this is same I'm telling. You this is probably from the same wait wait wait hen users you know. I know this is just a. Cultural thing DILF is.
Dad with dads and daughters. Because as soon as you said that, my brain was way more shocked than it was the first time. And I was like, that's weird. I I. Think that with the the MILF file because I only saw a couple of episodes of that. It was people because the MILF 1 is just like but it was disensitizing milfs. Where they would. Have like the blindfold, which of these old men? And have the sons managed to convince the young girls to fuck them? Yeah.
That's no they they're both. Just as bad. So this is that. I. I. Agree, but meant by meant I have to do a bit more work mentally to not be OK with them. Completely, yeah. Yeah, it's not quite, it's not quite equal. It's fine, but it's not quite equal. Yeah, the dad one I was that's. Like so, yeah. Imagine like in, in in what, 15 years You go on a reality TV show where it's you and on the other side it's people your age trying to have sex with your
daughters. That's the show. Because Joe, I was just thinking. Imagine American Pie and the only. Upside is that maybe you can. Differ somewhere. Any friends banging all the chicks? All the schoolgirls like I. Imagine that they would. Never in a million years would that have been a show, even back then. Well, Virgin Islands. This is this is what I read. This is what I read. Virgin Island is of a show like just like that tropical island.
10 people who are virgins, adults, all adults, not related. I just have to. Everyone of age, but I'm talking about there's no yeah, yeah, yeah. And I guess. The premise is they're going to lose their virginity while they're on the island. Fine. I wouldn't watch this show. Fine. What about? Well, yeah, right. Except the reason that people are angry is because in addition to this, them just hoping that they get it on with each other. They've brought in what they
call professional intimacy standings for them to fuck. Right. So I was like prostitutes. Exactly. So is the versions, are they guys or girls or is it a mixture? And the reason I can tell you is because I watched 3 episodes of this this week because I was like, there's only three that good. It's. That good? It's not. Good And I watched it. I I was like, were you? Watching it or were you standing over with someone else watching
it and then you go to leave? I fucking watch this. I want I read an article. Where they said virgins are sent to an island and prostitutes are brought in. I was like, it can't be that. It cannot be that. It cannot, and it isn't. No way they stolen my idea for a show. Except my idea wasn't a show and there was no island. That's how I lost. My virginity. That's right. So. But here's The funny thing. Okay so it's half right, 10 virgins, guys and girls all
brought in okay? Most. Okay, but okay. Most of the guys. The idea of the show would be. If you throw them together, they're all attractive. Let them fuck. OK, that's. Almost none of almost none of them are attractive in the in a conventional. Way right, They're pretty. Normal looking, right? They're all pretty normal looking. That's shrinking. Some American. Some of them. No, it's British.
Oh. Some of them. Are virgins because they are like, deeply religious? Anxious. About their bodies intimacy. Which is not. Funny, that's not good, right? Right, that's not good. Some of them seem. Prostitutes someone seem. Some of them seem neurodivergent and there's there's one girl who's quite pretty but she is like fucking body dysmorphia intimacy. Like I wouldn't be surprised if she had trauma in her past right? Anyway, it's not prostitutes.
It's a group of and there's more. They call them coaches. There's more coaches than there are contestants. And they're all these fucking guys and girls, hot muscular guys and like fucking slinky women who are also apparently sex therapists in clothes. I don't know what their actual credentials are. They've had sex. But. They they literally just get it on with the contestants. And The funny thing is the boys right, go along with it pretty easily because they're like, Oh yes, would you like it?
Would you like it if I touched you here? Would you like if I touch you there? And then like I watched one where they like they were naked, like they weren't fucking. I've not seen fucking, but they were dry humping and the guy did come, right? So says that. But then when you have heard it, so there's this one where, yeah, I did. There's one where there's this fucking poor girl standing there and this fucking dirty guy with a Gray ponytail and big muscles are sitting there. He's like, where would you like
me to touch you? And she's like nowhere, nowhere. Yeah. And it's like, please leave me alone. Yeah. It doesn't have to be sexual. Maybe just tell me on your body where you like to be touched. It's like, I don't like to be touched. And I don't know you like it was. It's so it just shows a men and women's TV show. But also, yeah. Why is this television? See at least with. The the Bill of Ireland type of thing that was like they've all
signed up for it and it was they didn't know they didn't know it was going to be them with their mothers. And but they both signed up for a show where hot people dating other people. And that's and I think a show like. That it's those extroverts, you know, it's, you know, like, you know, you're young people, like Big Brother people who go Big Brother wannabe. Oh yeah, famous. Yeah, they're very extroverts. Very first. Season, yeah, before people. Knew about it. It wasn't the show you're
describing. There it sounds like you would have to find the opposite of that, because people, people who would normally go on a show like that, aren't virgins because they're up for fucking anything and they're not just. Personality. Wise, you know what I mean? And this show is. A stepping stone for the next 15 minutes of fame? Yeah, Or just club appearances. Or. Something. Yeah, that's right. I just. I mean, maybe I'm. Wrong, but I feel like I do you.
Know why to go on a show like that? You're just not the kind of person who hasn't already tried quite hard to actually, no, I've. Seen it not being a terrible show except for the fact that they went down The Dirty sexual prostitute path instead of strange. Yeah. Trying to be. Actual coaching. Like don't have a problem with your body build up your confidence type of thing. I think that's part. Entertainment. But it's the same thing.
Obviously Great Western Hwy. Yeah, you. Just have so much fun doing pimp ROMs down there man. But the same thing. So they had this, they had this one where they took the boys into a room. They took the girls into a room. And this woman came out as this beautiful woman and stripped off and and sat there going ask me about my body. Look at my body. And the guys are fucking. Yeah, like these guys are only virgins because no one will fuck them. It's the same thing in the other room.
The guys like, look at my Dick. Look at this. What do you think? And the girls are like, mate, if you think you're the first guy that showed me their Dick, like, yeah, that's not why. She's just not the. Issue. Yeah, I feel like it's a. Different demographic, male virgins versus feel. Feel, yeah. Not. It's not the stereotype, but I've just, well, I mean, for a demographic, it's yeah. This the show. Certainly reinforces that that is definitely the case at least.
Should I watch it? My experience. I mean. Grown up. And known a lot of teenage. Boys and whatnot. Then the the the reasons boys don't do it is very different. The reasons girls don't do it, yes. They're fucking desperate to do it, yeah. We just. Some people don't let us do it. That's. I'm. I mean, I'm a guy and I'm still amazed at the length some guys went to when I was in high school.
Oh yeah. Yeah, I mean, look at movies like. Revenge of the Nerds and Porgies we already talked about. Yes, the things they do in those. Movies cottage industry based on this porkies. Do try to do. Those things, no, that's how they. Drill a hole.
