welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy good morning gentlemen good morning I can actually say good morning actually no it's good evening for you Dan yeah yeah it is it's the evening after I've spent 15 hours at work today so uh you've got me at my best God so you're going to be feisty today yeah that's right it's our 201st episode congratulations guys we did it cracked it we we did an extra one from the big one we did last week yeah but like we're in those difficult 300s now you know but it's you know we didn't get to you know sometimes you reach a milestone and then you just pack it in we didn't

do that we were like [ __ ] it just keep doing it eh that's true and now that you've said that this is actually our 200th episode cuz we didn't do an episode zero that's good point good point all right well I guess uh no it's not a good point that's not how numbers work I'll have to rejig the whole the whole feed for the show or is it actually 19 199 still because we did miss a couple yeah but we also did one we recorded one that we didn't release because of misadventure well look also uh people don't know about any of that stuff because we chopped the feed off at like 80 and so all that stuff is before that you know back when all the episodes were [ __ ] so yeah as far as anyone knows this is 2011 let's say they don't know we

didn't do a zero they don't know that we missed them it's perfect Let's do an episode zero and just slot it in there prequel let's do a prequel real trippy one hey speaking of prequels you just reminded me of something Matt uhhuh it it just I don't know I was standing I was standing in the fridge the other day the fridge door open looking at what I wanted to eat and that's where I do a lot of my deep thinking you know what I mean I'm I'm a real fridge door thinker yeah wasting wasting energy yep that's right no no no no I'm I'm quite relaxed while I'm doing it sure but um inform suddenly occurred to me that I'm quite angry it goes too far let's say I'm annoyed uhhuh that everyone's called Rogue one a standalone film it's not a

standalone film it's a prequel yeah how in any way is it a standalone film yeah they uh they dropped the ball on on that if they wanted it to be Standalone by adding in literally a leadup into the episode four yeah and characters from the other films and I see what they mean they mean it's not episode 8 or 9 or 10 but it's also not episode 3 but it is kind of episode 3.5 are they calling a stand alone I thought they were just calling it a Star Wars story yeah I don't know if Lucas film's doing it uh but people definitely are using the word Standalone when yeah I agree with you it's not I think we've used it before I'm positive we have so you're mad at us oh [ __ ] furious at you mad maybe it's maybe it's

just us maybe it's just us we're the problem yeah that's generally how it works look I know it doesn't matter but I guess everyone else on the internet was angry about something and I I wanted to be angry about something too okay that that's fair thanks guys thanks for humoring me CU they are talking about the more standal mood with like the Han Solo and the Obi-Wan and Boba Fett they're going to be Standalone but here if they're Han and Boba Fett they're not Standalone either true they're prequels yeah that's right if they do the Han origin story that's a prequel that's not a standalone a standalone film is a movie about a guy I've never heard of who's a farmer on a planet I've never heard of yeah just in Star Wars

somewhere in the universe in the Star Wars Universe yeah well I guess that probably leads us into Star Wars news I don't see why it shouldn't all right I'll do this then just a short one for today my Jingles are too long it's just genetics I get I get excited and uh and I make him too long like uh I'm I'm not going to play the whole thing but uh and this is kind of a rat hole but uh do you remember this jingle right which this needs to be about 5 Seconds long right it's 45 seconds so I'm not going to play the whole thing I don't know I don't know what I was thinking when I made this yes that now but it doesn't we get the joke yeah go it does the whole theme song Matt like what was I thinking need

I remind you of a little segment called guess that game sure that's all I'm going to say so Star Wars news we discovered this week some more information about the re-shoot which we've talked about a little bit before uh we don't talk about this too much CU we've talked about Rog one quite a lot but um apparently the re-shoot for rogue one mostly around introducing the characters uh for example the scene where Cassian was introduced and he shot that other guy sorry spoilers it's not a spoiler for the film really it's just a no we don't need to put spoilers for rogue one anymore no I had a week we made an agreement with our with our listeners fine that's not a spoiler because it

happens in the first 10 seconds and has no bearing whatsoever on the plot however you know we don't think we even really will talk spoilers much here but a lot of introducing the characters was added in the re- shoots um apparently the first time like you see saw jyn as a kid and then the next thing was like the meeting with her and Mon mmer and everything which is a bit weird like yeah I feel like there's a big chunk of film in the middle there so I mean maybe it was just and what so and also they would have re reshot a lot of the death scenes wouldn't they at the end yeah no apparently they well they didn't mention that they they did they said that they changed quite a bit at the end but they haven't said that specifically so apparently most of the re-shoot were to

do with the beginning of the film they felt the characters weren't introduced very well oh oh that's interesting the scenes of them walking around uh jeda the the planet where the temple is I think is that those were all added and expanded upon and yeah it was mostly stuff to set up the story better which is weird right cuz I don't know I felt like that was a good chunk of the start of the film that was just not there before that's weird maybe the idea of these Star Wars stories we'll call them instead of Standalone films was that you are just dropped straight into the middle of the narrative yeah you know and you've just got to you've just got to accept what's going on you're right in the middle of the action and here's a

story yeah similarly to the fact that I mean you could argue that the main characters the protagonists of uh Star Wars you know episode 4 and you hope is uh R2 and 3PO right you don't get any of backstory you get little hints of it no but there's no character introduction we just come in they in the middle of a battle and they go off to complete their mission well you don't get a whole lot of backstory on anyone in a new hope you get you get a bit of luks Cu he's he's the protagonist right but you don't get yeah he's just really into power converters yep you don't know anything about Han like we never really learned anything about Han's backstory like you know everything you need to know he likes hookers his behavior no well you don't get to know that either unless you

watch the deleted scenes he only likes is in the Del get that I just get that feeling from him right hook is a below yeah and you don't learn you learn about Obi-Wan a bit but you don't really learn about Princess Leia either she's a princess what's she the princess of yeah you don't know that so well we we assume she's also a senator there you go yeah she was on a diplomatic Mission what more do you need to know she's part of the Rebel l and a traitor Luke take take take her away take her oh guys before you go on Matt just on that note did you guys see that really awkward interview with David PR that's surfaced recently no no is it a recent one or no no oh God no no no no no it's a 1976 interview with him telling a journalist about Darth Vader and explaining why

somebody else is dubbing the voice and uh I'm not going to uh give too much away a bit cut up about it but he uses the word negro what yeah it was a different time back then well actually it's it's worth Googling for um somebody's put out a compilation of awkward Star Wars interviews from over the years with the cast and uh you know it's everything from Billy D Williams not knowing a thing about the plot to uh Harrison Ford trying to [ __ ] the journalist that he's being interviewed by I love old interviews with Harrison Ford because he like people have said that he's like kind of grumpy I've heard that he's

grumpy and stuff but if I watch old interviews with him it doesn't seem grumpy to me he just seems like he's a sarcastic [ __ ] and people don't get him [ __ ] yeah like he's he's just like kind of I don't know he's just like a little bit sarcastic a little bit snarky I don't know I think I think he's funny but if you watch interviews now he's already checked out no he's been pretty funny recently he's funny in he sketches and stuff yeah exactly I think yeah but that's different that's that I'm talking about like actual where they like the Press junket and he's sitting in a room and he's got people coming in and out yeah but I mean he's not like because people say he's grumpy he's not grumpy like um Jesse Eisenberg is just like a [ __ ] in interviews to everybody

like he's like he's just kind of like sarcastic and and and funny you know what I mean so I think he gets misrepresented I like Harrison Ford yeah me too man it's a shame he's GNA H you don't like him I used to like him whoa are you being I thought you were being factious Luke no I used to really like him but I just feel that are you honest to God Harrison Ford right now he needs to retire my God what is happening what what is man we're being punked right now Matt maybe what is what's he done to upset you he needs to go away and stop Jesus what's happened L I don't know what I'm hearing I think I've lapsed into a parallel universe or else I just didn't know you at all Luke what did he do he

just he's given up he's not really interested in acting anymore are you are you basing this around the kingdom of the Crystal Skull because I implore you Luke just just just put that out of your memory no no no even stop stop watching it while you're doing the iring even the force awakens he was hilarious in the force awakens he was hilarious but could you say he was his acting was great could you say his acting was great in any movie no he's just a Charming as [ __ ] dude he just is Harrison but I just I don't know just for some reason I just feel he doesn't want to be there anymore just time and this is what I said like he's going to do Blade Runner next and then he's gone do you guys feel that he's from what little you've seen admittedly Harrison Ford seems to be

playing old hand Solo in the Blade Runner sequel as well sure maybe that's what you mean Luke we he was kind of young well he was kind of just Han Solo in the original a little bit too like he's yeah he's not the most versatile supp so you know I was talking about this the other day because that's good too can you imagine him trying to do an accent or something right I was talking about this the other day because I watched I want to mention it a bit later as well I watched all of Westworld which I really enjoyed and yeah as well you should have I really really like Anthony Hopkins but he's not got a huge range no what he is is a man with a cool voice and a cool way of saying words and he's

like he he's like super super good at what he what what he gets what he does but I guess maybe he just knows what he's good at because he doesn't like he's not a character actor he's not like [ __ ] Johnny Depp who just do anything you know what I mean and with with varying levels of success yeah yeah but uh yeah so I feel like Harrison similar Tom Cruz Tom Cruz is just Tom Cruz like but you wouldn't hire Tom Cruz if you didn't want Tom Cruz you know no and I hope Tom Cruz never ever stops being Tom Cruz it's just Tom Cruz in it's just yeah Tom Cruz is that's right I don't know I haven't seen anything with Tom Cruz in it that I've liked in years H you didn't watch um that really awesome movie with a totally forgettable title

where he keeps going back in time oh um that was amazing what about that movie where him and that woman were the only ones left on a planet I don't think I've seen either of those oh what [ __ ] you both man Tom Cruz is amazing and he makes great films something tomorrow is the one you're talking Edge of Tomorrow right have you not seen that no I haven't I know I'm supposed to see it as in you know you good yeah I've heard that it's real good okay yeah no no I've never bit a fan I think last thing I saw that I lik was maybe Days of Thunder what you like Mission Poss what so you don't like any of the mission Impossibles no [ __ ] what in fact I've only seen the first one well that's the

good one oh there's your mistake you got to watch Mission possible too oh God that's so bad I know but the best part about Miss possible to is the is on the DVD there's that know what it was for was when Ben still stunt double so good very funny okay so Luke doesn't like Tom Cruz or Harrison Ford who knew but he does think Dwayne The Rock Johnson is a good actor it's true and the guy who plays Stiffler in the American Pi series yep how do you feel about Anthony Hopkins I could take him leave him what about someone like Merl Street yeah she's all right yeah see I I never got on the Merill Street bandwagon to be honest but I will ask you this Matt Anthony Hopkins yeah right young

Anthony Hopkins I'm not doing a marry [ __ ] kill I'm doing what did you think of the young Anthony Hopkins in Westworld oh yeah uh very good actually very good right I'd go to say better than tarken better than the Leer there's there was a little bit of that in in westw because it's subtle it's not like yeah they didn't they don't draw your ATT up long enough for you to see all the flaws yeah yeah you just see his his face for a second and he's got a bit more hair it's and it's it's Browner but you're just watching it and suddenly young Anthony Hopkins strides out of one room and into another and you're like what did I just see yeah it's very good because I didn't recognize him at first it was only later on CU they show that scene a couple

times cuz it's kind of pivotal that I'm like oh [ __ ] that's him that's amazing although you know what I'd say is is amazing young Robert Downey Jr in Civil War The Avengers oh yeah that was good actually that was excellent he even had the 80s haircut I wonder if it's something to do with the actual actor portraying the character yeah yeah you could be right like the guy who did taking he did a good job but his face didn't quite match up enough and maybe that's why it was a bit janky well I watched this documentary on uh you know behind the scenes of creating being tarken the other night oh yeah on on YouTube um mostly because I just wanted to hear John NS telling me how good it was I wanted him to tell to my face that he thought it was a good

job you know what I mean sure yeah but um he [ __ ] wrote this film yeah the animators kept going on about how they modeled that actor from his eyes uh wrinkles facial expressions and everything but that they rebuilt the mouth from scratch frame by frame because his mouth wasn't like the MTH of uh Peter Cushing but the mouth was the bit I didn't like I thought it was a pretty reasonably built head with a cartoon mouth talking and I think if they just use the actor's mouth who cares if it doesn't look exactly like Peter Cushing the man's been dead for 20 years no one remembers what his mouth looked like put a real mouth on it would look like Annoying Orange like yes exactly exactly well speaking of Rogan which we have been sort

of uh we discussed the fact that a lot of the shots in the trailer aren't in the film and apparently that's because when there was shooting uh Gareth Edwards said an interview recently uh on a podcast called Director's Guild no oh sorry a podcast called the director's cut uh which I've subscribed to not listen to yet no no not the director's chair from the director's chair okay which is I can't I can't find that podcast sadly I wish to Christ that still assisted I don't yeah director Gareth Edward said they they did this thing every day where which they called Indie hour where for an hour every day they'd shoot random stuff that looked cool or that they thought was a cool idea just to see what happened and yeah I heard about this why well for example

the shot in the trailer where JY is in the hallway with the lights and she turns around as the lights blink on which looks really cool it's not in the movie because she was just walking from one you know location to another location and happened to turn around as the lights came on and he said oh [ __ ] that looks cool let's shoot it so they spent half an hour shooting that and then uh it was in the dailies so the people putting the trailer together put it in the trailer and it's not in the film it was never supposed to be in the film and the same with there's like a what do you call that uh you know the the shot of krennic where he's just kind of standing there with his little cloak looking menacing and and then yeah that same thing it just looked good so they

shot it so then that's just them just [ __ ] about trying to get cool shots yeah yeah which me Ben midon go on get a shot of me just standing here looking [ __ ] intense and then looking up at the camera let me put my Siggy down hold on I'm just shooting up heroin here pass that to Noah Taylor so yeah but I mean if you were shooting a Star Wars film you would do this like if if somehow I'm surprised for some I mean it's more likely that you would than I would but let's just say I did I would just I'd be [ __ ] standing behind Darth Vader in one shot yeah exactly cut back to T I'm standing there as well in fact that could happen and we have done that before yeah oh yeah we just insert ourselves into yeah when we all appeared in The Dark Knight Rises trailer um much

to the confusion of uh some of my family members who uh who thought we had somehow managed to make our way into the film yeah just goes to show how convincing it was yeah my [ __ ] Dollar Store Batman [Laughter] costume yelling punch me in the dick yeah me standing behind Christian Bale going are you talking to me or him yeah I still like my scene with um I'm yeah just wor about dressing no you're redressing aren't you yeah I can't remember no maybe you are undressing but yes I need to watch it again good times me too that's up isn't it yeah it's on our YouTube channel on

YouTube cool I'm going to watch that after this so yeah there's a bunch of stuff that's in the trailers that was just made because it was cool it's probably the same thing with that TIE fighter maybe they just like oh we should add a TIE fighter in there it look cool and you know what that's fine I gu guess it's kind of annoying because it no I actually have a feeling that that scene was cut because it looked stupid of the Tie Fighter yes you think like flew up and okay so let me get this straight you don't like Harrison Ford and you don't like Tie fighters no no I love I know nothing about you that scene where she's there and the ti fighter flies up I think that would have been completely stupid in the movie but in what context like why would a TI

fighter fly up like that it would have just blown the bridge away while it was flying past yeah but it wouldn't look as cool that's one of the main jobs of a TIE fighter is to look cool sort of not it's to sort of try and kill Rebels yeah but yeah but they look cool too all right fine well also just because that randomly happening in the film wouldn't make any sense cuz they changed the way that the end plays out you know so I don't know a lot of that stuff was just yeah I just had the feeling that yeah it was a lot of the endings that was changed are you talking about the re-shoot yeah yeah maybe but I was wrong well I'm actually looking forward to the getting the DVD of this or Blu-ray or whatever I features get it on DVD all right F I'll get it on DVD I

want to see the special features for this I'm going to get it on VHS deleted scenes actually I'm I'm going to get a 35 mil print I'm going to get it on beta Max actually oh laser disc laser disc so my friend did I tell you uh Back in 77 they released 60 no yeah they released 16 mm would be 8 mm yeah let me start that again back in the 70s they released 8 mm film versions of Star Wars right that must be 16 you can leave this in but of course a 16 mm film roll can only have I think 16 minutes oh [ __ ] right so

they would just do edits of the whole movie beginning middle and end but just with the good bits right let's just say the bits you need to tell a cohesive story in 16 minutes 16 minutes yeah but they're all different right and I don't know why I think maybe it's just different regions or or different people had the rights to do it cuz things were a bit crazy back then not like now but um so my friend Damen is purchasing you know eBay and all these kind of places trying to buy as many as these old film prints as he can and his plan is to splice together the entire film that's cool yeah and he's actually noticed some inconsistencies too like he's got one where Aunt baru has her original voice for example one where she doesn't you know really so slight yeah slight

differences so they were obviously made off different negatives hm yeah wow so uh I mean obviously it's probably illegal but is he going to upload this when he's done with it uh yeah I hope so and yes I'm sure he will very cool he'll at very at least have screenings of it as his house and um I'm down for that yeah well it's probably not in this country so we'll see it's not in this country either Luke you can go all right sweet I'll be there yeah he lives in taramara where the hell is that near where's that Hornsby yeah okay so North Sydney yeah north of Sydney yes yeah never really did much north of Sydney fair enough well we mentioned different types of film uh and that's an

obscure segue into this article I just wanted to talk about briefly it's also Star Wars related JJ Abrams says he's done with remakes and reboots uh which is probably not true well yeah as far as I can tell they're the only films he can make yeah um and my my obscure reference was that I was going to say if he could do more stuff like super eight and less stuff like uh say Star Trek Into Darkness that would be great yeah the thing I like about this is he said this wasn't he sort of receiving an award for Westworld which is a reboot yes uh and he was saying he like oh I [ __ ] hate this well no he says you know I feel incredibly lucky you have gotten involved in things that I loved when I was a kid in fact even Westworld which I'm here for tonight is one of them but

I don't feel any desire to do that again I feel like I've done enough of that and I'm more excited about working on things that are original ideas that perhaps one day someone else will have to reboot so yes please do that cuz I think he's a pretty smart creative guy and you know a lot of his stuff is kind of mashups of things that we love as a kid but I mean what isn't so like what isn't a everything is a what's that that series everything is a everything's a remix everything a remix okay that yeah hopefully he does do some more original kind of stuff I would agree [ __ ] do it JJ [ __ ] do it man just [ __ ] do it I also kind of like the idea of him hanging around with the stuff that I want him to continue working on Star

Wars and things cuz he did well with it yeah yeah don't go off and do your own thing stay where it works yeah and just stop putting [ __ ] Beasty Boys in everything just stop that okay that that's the one obnoxious thing that he's doing I actually I don't know if he did it I REM Simon Peg but that [ __ ] new Star Trek what's wrong with Beasty Boys nothing's wrong with the Beasty Boys they just shouldn't be in Star Trek Star the Beasty Boys no have you not have you seen the new one Star Trek Beyond no I haven't cuz Star Trek Into Darkness was [ __ ] [ __ ] no ST Treck Beyond is better but it's got a couple of things I don't like about it um I didn't enjoy it too much overall and I don't want to spoil anything but the a beasty Boy song

features prominently uh not like just on the soundtrack like in world like in the film while they're sabotaging stuff uh I kind of it's yes I don't know it's listeners will know what I mean and some I guess some people loved it I really didn't I thought it was I it was stupid and obnoxious they they use uh they discover this is spoiler for Star Trek Beyond you haven't seen Star Treck Beyond skip like a minute ahead they discover that they can broadcast a frequency to make the alien ships blow up so they crank the [ __ ] Beasty Boys as they're flying through space in the Enterprise and all alien ships are blowing up around them as the Beasty Boys is oh God yeah I just

thought it was really stupid so yeah people like that's obuse find that obtuse not my thing I wanted to see more Wrath of Khan style stuff yeah but original Wrath of Khan right right yeah yeah yeah like you know like one-on-one you know Str strategy c yeah you know outsmarting a villain whereas this was more like hey let's blow everything up which I know that's what movies are now so I want tribles back uh tribles were in Into Darkness all they W what they Tribbles I'm sure they were they were in I want the whole movie about them all right with only triple characters maybe maybe a spin-off Standalone it's not a standalone story we' talked about this it' be a prequel it could be a sequel it could be could

be a post oo are we done for Star Wars news there's something that's slightly star Wars related although not really did you guys hear Mark Hamill reading Donald Trump's Tweets in his Joker voice God I love Mark HL you have to go and listen to this like like except for the ending it's just got a bit weird goes on and on doesn't it yeah people don't know when to stop being funny yeah that's our problem speaking of people being funny you see this guy in the Northern Territory yeah I did that's pretty funny Northern Territory he's not in the Northern Territory actually he's in England oh he's not I read this in Northern Territory news yeah no I I CU I the just assumed no no no it is in Northern Territory news and I don't know why because he's in uh North Yorkshire in

England okay however well I guess that's also the Northern Territory of England right yeah sure but the the story is still funny well it's a fugitive from the law who uh changed his Facebook profile picture to um Wally from where's Wally with his own face super imposed mhm and I just I just think that's hilarious police did not think that was hilarious no this is it's a stupid thing to do though if we got police coming after me I don't want them pissed off and embarrassed when they catch me oh man I'm just I'm instantly in Imagining the the multitude and and possibly infinite ways that the police could arrest you in a scenario where they would be embarrassed all right I want to know Luke what Luke okay in this scenario

you've been pulled over by the police right but when they when they come to the car they're embarrassed and I'm going to do this first while the other brothers are doing time listen it's cryto crimes go so what's the actual scenario here they've just pulled me over mhm and for some and they're embarrassed yeah at the end whatever the outcome of this is they're embarrassed Al so I'm about to make them embarrassed it's up to you buddy yep well this is thing you don't want to piss off and embarrass them you just do as you told at that stage but I love it's both pissed off and embarrassed it's like yeah we went to uh arrest Luke Alderson came back pissed off and embarrassed that's right that's what I want to know I want to know what you did

to piss them off and embarrass them when they came to arrest you well I I wouldn't do anything to piss off or embarrass a police officer when they're trying to arrest trust me all right fine can that be the quot in in in whenever we do quotes in the opening sure yeah yeah this guy's actually only wanted for I mean only wanted for uh driving offenses um yeah that's right but the fact that he did this and it's kind of gone viral now means that kind of been made into a much bigger deal they'll be putting on a few more charges yeah we'll see resisting arrest is it illegal to taunt the police probably well he said in one Facebook post that uh they were hunting for him and he he was close enough that he saw a police officer struggling to climb over

a fence and he said I nearly felt sorry for him and I was going to go back and give him a hand but he had a taser so [ __ ] that what a smartass yeah the police said We are continuing to search for him obviously yeah well the police would never come out and go well we've we've given up given up yeah y I mean he's he put on Facebook that he's hide-and-seek Champion so well there's no point in fighting him now yeah we've got no chance against that yeah yep we've run some drills and we're just we're just not experienced enough we've gotten all the books my wrist is killing me give it a rest yeah come on man not join the show no I'm seriously give it a rest you deserve to give it a rest is it because you're you're still doing stuff you're not supposed to with your I mean I I mean

video games so I should have been clearer about that um I don't know if that's the reason all right cuz I'm just holding a controller it's not like I'm doing anything else yeah but you you you're you know manipulating the controller presumably yeah manipul I found a good I found a good game to play that wasn't sort of Super Active what's that um Fallout oh yeah like a pretty whoops pretty slow pace um I just finished the NCA World stuff oh did not like that not like it no not at all what did you think of it Dan H look yeah look it's not the best but I didn't mind I just I just liked that there was more of it for me to play Oh I like that but yeah I just s felt weird that if you played it properly to get the achiev I talking about be bad yeah yeah yeah yeah

yeah you have to uh you have to mess up some stuff that you may have established in the uh in the main game yeah oh really to get an achievement well just to you actually have to Take Over Control of the gangs and go out and sort of start getting all these Raiders to set up bases in the Commonwealth oh huh yeah so I mean for those of you who played it the you know you spent a a good portion of the start of the game kind of aligning yourself with settlers and farmers and things and setting up all these little trade routes and stuff and if if you want to complete the uh the N World add-ons properly you end up bringing a bunch of Raiders in and either killing them all displacing them or making them work for the Raiders so it is a bit weird yeah I just thought it

was weird that they'd have that so I sort of did all that and then just went back to a save and then I'm just killed them all oh yeah cool that brings me to something I wanted to discuss we didn't do this um when it was the the beginning of the new year or or whatever but we could do it now what was your game of the year last year was uh I was going to guess that Dan might have been Fallout 4 yeah I me I think I'd if I said anything else it' come right out of left field wouldn't it yeah I mean or civ5 or C5 yeah I would have guessed either oh that reminds me what what's going on with our um our online game we've discovered a way that we can potentially play Civ 5 together yeah yeah so turn-based where each of us make a turn a day yeah and there's this online service called giant

multiplayer robot that basically it'll hand the save to whoever's turn it is and then take it back afterwards and then move it on to the next person and apparently apparently that works so does that mean I I just hit continue continue game when I'm logging in uh well I don't know yet we're going to have to test it out I think um what happens is it um it transfers to save file and then you load up that save yeah okay make your turn hit save and then you upload that save file again right okay sounds tedious and certainly sounds like a tedious way to make only one move so y yeah it's going to be fun especially in the early game not ideal yeah that's right where nothing's happening but I thought maybe and uh it's going to be like those guys that play chess with each other when

they only see each other once a year yeah exactly this the next move yeah but I thought we'll do a we'll do a test on that and see how it goes and then if it is fun and workable maybe we could look at doing a video uh series of us playing video would go for oh my God M Imagine It Go for days months that's my my well what we could do is and again listeners I'm not saying we're going to do this cuz this might this whole thing might be a pile of [ __ ] but every time when I take my turn I record it and then I put that on YouTube when you take your turn you record it we put that on YouTube and then just as we go along we just upload them and people can keep up with the progress and we make a deal with each other not to watch each other's videos does it matter oh he

play a lot of games I imagine I'm sorry sorry to put you on the spot um I don't know actually do you want to think I did spend a lot of time in The Witcher spent a lot of time in Fallout M mhm Witcher was very good that was technically 2015 though Witcher oh I think but I I'm got the game of a year which came out last year okay I'm going to go with doom uh as mine because it's just [ __ ] awesome if you haven't played Doom play it it's [ __ ] great I just surprised that your your game of the year would be a first person shooter so am I Luke so am I I haven't liked a firstperson shooter in so I but I haven't obsessively played a game this much in a very long time either like I just couldn't stop playing it I had to finish it and I had to unlock all the stuff and I had like and

I still I want the d I want to play more it's just so good so good yeah I should really have a look you should it's very good I did tell you when it was on sale is sale the sale's still on or is it over it's over now okay oh well yep yeah sorry I forgive you we could talk about Westworld I don't want to say too much about it though because I want people to watch it and it's hard to talk about it without spoilers to to hard to say what what's about it's a bit of an injustice to even really talk about what what it is is and what it becomes yeah cuz you don't really know what it is at first well I'm going to assume M that it's a world where you go Y and it's a western and there are robots and you can do whatever you want and then slowly the robots start to turn and start to kill

the humans that is sort of what that's what you would think I mean you're not wrong yeah you're not wrong but you it's there's a lot more to it than that and even halfway through the first season it's it wasn't quite what I thought it was like it is but it isn't like it's not t to it yeah you're right it's just one of those stupid things where we I'm just going to end up going oh it's really good without saying anything that's right there's lots of orgies there are some ories you get to see penises you do you see everything yeah it's got all that stuff it's a HBO so it's got all that stuff not gratuitously I would say actually less gratuitously than others it's it's just kind of there from time time actually there's a lot lot more scenes with um

like Tandy Newton who was in Mission Impossible too if you was spends a lot more time in the nude than I thought she would as someone who I considered to be a well-known actress that's true when you're uh getting on in age you've uh got to show a little more get the good jobs yeah a lot of people pretty much every character or not Anthony Hopkins obviously uh because no one want no obviously no one wants to see that that's why know you see him when he's young yeah I don't know if they could afford Anthony Hopkins naked like imagine how much it cost to get cost imagine how much it cost a game naked but yeah other people like uh like EV reach EV reachel wood doesn't spend a whole lot of time in the nude neither does what's his name Cyclops that's

true anyway that's not the main thing I liked about this show the plot and the uh I think it's very smart and interesting and it asks a lot of questions that I find very interesting and insightful so I recommend it and another show that I've been watching which is sort of similar is Black Mirror similar in that it asks interesting questions and looks at interesting things uh absolutely I have found uh because I know you're a fan of Black Mirror and Charlie Brooker in general correct yeah absolutely I found Black Mirror though to be a bit a bit janky so far if you know what I mean like every know what you mean go on okay every episode so far uh for listeners who don't know Black Mirror is it's a

British show it's a very short series uh there's how many seasons now like four or five no there's only three seasons but the first two are short three episode seasons and then there's a Christmas special movie length and then the latest season is six EPS okay yeah well the early episodes I've only watched I've watched maybe all of season one and two now I think maybe not even all of season two I've watched like five or episodes and they're all around 40 minutes to an hour long and each episode uh completely stand alone uh so far anyway they don't have anything to do with each other but they take it's a story about kind of technology and kind of an interesting story about technology and it's they're all kind of set in the

near future from what I can tell and just what might happen with technology in a way and but they're a little bit Twilight Zony in the you know there kind of a mystery usually is that fair explanation you want to add anything okay uh but when I say they janky I found like they have really good ideas but the execution I found in all of them in spots to be a bit lacking like I think like the very first episode I thought was really weird but interesting it's the one where uh he [ __ ] a pig yeah princess gets kidnapped uh a a European princess Danish princess I think and the the kidnapper demands that the Prime Minister of England has sex with a pig live on TV and that was weird but

interesting um and then the second one was was it the one where they were riding the bikes I've only seen the first one I can't remember that back that far I don't know it's it's they're always just a little bit weird I agree with you to a point so they are a little British TV right they're always kind of held back with that but I think there's something else happening here and uh I noticed it when I watched the most recent series uh only last year right and it's that this show is about 5 years old right and right so I watched the first season in 2011 2012 somewhere around there and it I found it quite up to-date right kind of it was talking about things that were maybe you know if

they if they weren't happening today they were happening tomorrow but now watching the latest season I kind of feel like yeah yeah that's happened right like there's one where there's one in the news Series where everyone rates everybody all the time for everything right but I feel that kind of does happen now like I've gotten out of Ubers and had the Uber driver say to me I'm going to give you five stars as a passenger are you going to give me five stars as a driver yeah right so that's not really science fiction anymore CU that happened to me today yeah no that definitely it used to be the whole thing I know I haven't seen a lot of it I know it was all about making people think about where technolog is going and how it's affecting our lives but there's it

just can't think ahead what's happening next now so it's just going to do what there's a bit of that so the old ones you might feel ah this is a bit not quite there because you know we've kind of we're passed that now there's a there's a couple though how many of you watched Matt uh like I said I think five or six okay then you've probably seen the first two seasons the I could tell you the one one that I didn't like the was I haven't seen a cartoon one cartoon character on a bus oh I liked that one you like that one no I was just trying to guess which one you didn't like the the the the red the blue bear what's his name Waldo is that the one you mean where he runs for government yes yeah yeah no I like that one um I didn't like the one that was

about the girl uh she wakes up she doesn't know what's going on and like there are Hunters people trying to kill her and everyone's just filming everything and I thought that episode like was was kind of stupid to be honest like I just really didn't think it was episode in the latest series that's just like that and I dislike it for the same reasons it just doesn't like even once you they reveal what's really going on it's just not very believable and also I don't really understand what the point of it was so it just it just really didn't grab me it was interesting to begin with but then it started to fall apart when I realized what was going on it didn't make any sense um yeah sorry if this is boring for people don't know what I'm talking about and we can say that about

everything we talk about on this podcast Matt yeah true true I think there's at least one episode in each series that's really outstanding yeah right it's it's they are hit and miss as they go along but like I I loved and I can't remember if the first or second season but there's one and once again we're almost at this point now with Snapchat and everything but there's one where they people are recording with their eyes oh yeah I like that one yeah yeah and it was so good I liked it a lot but yeah I did feel like the main character was just kind of a [ __ ] at the start which is how the whole like it all resolves itself and and in a way but but I just felt like no but I think that happens a lot in Black Mir is that they're not

concerned with you liking anybody yeah fair enough fair enough I just felt like like I was just annoyed at that guy the whole time so it kind of detracted from my enjoyment of it I actually did like that episode and I liked where it went I just I don't know that guy was just a [ __ ] withit yeah and also [ __ ] who would want that who would want that it's a chip that that you you get implanted everyone well most people seem to have it and it just lets youing it on remember everything you're not allowed to wear it in my house Luke and you can and they he they rewind and and review what happened and go over it and stuff like that I mean [ __ ] that why would you want that well I guess I mean I guess that's the point is that that that the episode is saying why

would you want this and that's where you're headed like with putting your life on Facebook going over looking through old pictures doing all this stuff like you're getting to the point where you're going to be arguing with someone they're going to go that's not what I said and then play back exactly what you said yeah okay Fair Point yeah see I don't I don't do a lot of that stuff so maybe maybe that's you will post Black Mirror yeah I don't post I don't sh I'm not very Sher you know like my privacy or privacy as they would say on Black Mirror yeah you say that but you do a weekly podcast yeah this is this is my kind of but I've I've said this before though this is my my version of that because on this I just talk about movies
