Com Truise: Captain Marvel Review & Leaving Neverland Documentary Reaction

I'm GNA start off by apologizing to Craig I'm GNA start off by talking about Star Wars okay that's a Star Wars them welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy well sorry to listen to Craig who's repeatedly written in and asked us begged us to stop he pays us to not do it that's true he literally gave us money to shut up about Star Wars and we haven't maybe we have to give him a dollar back because uh we're definitely going to talk about Star Wars I was thinking about L Jedi today and I came to the conclusion The Last Jedi makes the force awakens a bad movie yes well

yeah sort of yeah it just yeah takes yeah that that's that's all that's all I got just a lot of stuff that I liked about like the force awakens just gets ripped away and thrown away in The Last Jedi and it makes it cuz like one thing that JJ did with like Ray like everyone who went like who's the girl and then it cut away like it was building up to something and then Ryan Johnson went oh she's nobody the problem is and I'm sure someone out there is yelling this at the at people on the bus right now as they're listening to this um I really hope someone is cuz I would love that the problem is that JJ sets all that stuff up but then he doesn't have the the payoff the answer is Ray wasn't anybody there was probably it was it was just that's what JJ does and and I mean

I like it I like it when he does that CU he usually will try and make him pay off but Ryan Johnson was like ah [ __ ] you yeah don't care about it yeah move it on so that's the problem you know who else doesn't like it Mark Hamill and he's still going yeah I know he was talking about the other day he is still Tweeting about how annoyed he is about how he was portrayed in The Last Jedi I still don't blame him how L was portrayed I mean I mean it's it's not like it was a documentary that they're just cooking out of context did you see the thing about 3PO this week no what's wrong with 3PO well nothing but there was a mark hell's at like I said he's at it again like he said he was in an interview and he was talking about the Last Jedi and they said um you disagreed with him a little bit

about the portrayal of the character and he said that in the scene where Luke shows up and talks to Leia as written and as directed originally he was supposed to just walk in like wander past everybody including 3PO and have a chat with Leia and then just leave and Mar HL said to Ryan Johnson I'm not just going to walk past 3p and not say anything and and he was like what do you mean and he's like [ __ ] C3PO he's he would he would he would say something or he would he would do something he would he would acknowledge Him in some way Ryan Johnson was like do whatever you want then and so that's as Mark Hamill tells it and so that's why there's that scene where he just Winks at him because Ry Johnson was like ah I don't know [ __ ] do whatever you

want allegedly but I love it that that that's what he wanted to do it's like he's like no no I think they should just wink he's like no no seriously like I'm [ __ ] I'm zoning out of this anyway man you just do whatever you want you can have a [ __ ] monologue at him if you want go do a little but then but the thing is and I'm almost inclined to fall down on the side of Ryan Johnson on this one because someone pointed out Luke's not really there he's he's a force projection so now he can still see everyone well yeah but yeah but 3PO can Droid SE Force projections like it's kind of Mark ham accidentally said a strange pre if you know what I mean like maybe I I forget if 3p reacts but maybe that's why

he was winking at him he was like you can't see me right now yeah yeah I don't know that's a good well hold on can droids see anyway in the traditional sense well yeah well that that's that's the question because you're right I mean if they probably see with a bunch of sensors motion senses or like heat thermal detectors I mean they're not I mean that's not going to see a ghost is it well [ __ ] I don't know I know very little about robots and even less about ghosts well you know there was a there was a quite a lengthly discussion on on the something awful.com forums uh about whether the droids in Star Wars are a sentient beings are they alive because George Lucas thinks no the

droids are appliances as far as he's concerned but then you've got solo now which has this kind of you know robot Uprising and they it looks at them more as slaves whereas Lucas was very clear no no no their [ __ ] appliances they just act like people because he actually said at one point in an interview 3PO is kind of odd because he he behaves like a person but he's not a person he's just a [ __ ] computer and before the extended Universe became Legends they um they made a big point that ig88 was like one of the first resps to be come actually sentient yeah right so it it all the others just had artificial intelligence but yeah there was an experiment that went went wrong and ig88 was born but I don't know what happens in that Universe

anymore I'm confused me too well yeah little kids know more about this stuff than I do now cuz everyone's just sad that what's her name got uh was it whatever the the the solo Droid you know got put in with the Falcon and all that kind of stuff but like like as as intended by George Lucas [ __ ] who gives a [ __ ] she's just of Xbox I love my Xbox people now think that the droids are like alive than are supposed to be and it actually reflects badly on people treatment of them you like they put the restraining bolts on them in [ __ ] A New Hope like they're slaves like it makes they're not allow [ __ ] Moss e CER exactly yeah it makes things retroactively weird now that they're kind of slaves so I and that's probably why

George Lucas was very careful to say no no well I mean even just putting a message in someone and shooting them out of a spaceship in an escape podt oh we've all been there if that was a human being you've never had a message inside of you come on I mean where'd he go from that yeah I know I know I've made things weird oh um Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens in um may now yeah someone's flown some uh flown a drone above it gotten some uh gotten some footage that cheeky P you you think that Disney would have that that thing that shuts down drones down from flying overhead a shotgun yeah you think so no but don't don't can't you actually set up like a uh you

can cut off the absolutely can because GPS n Zone or whatever it is try to fly drones in many many places that it just won't take off yeah you think honestly thought Disney would be one of those places maybe they didn't think of it or didn't expand it to that area or something like that so when are we going uh when do you want to go um I don't want to go when it first opens that is that is fair cuz it's going to be a terrible place there for a while it might be really good they might have a lot of stuff going on though yeah but there's also going to be a lot of people no the lines of Disney are always [ __ ] anyway the problem with with there's never not going to be people it's [ __ ] Disneyland exactly and the problem with um they stagger the

school holidays here so I I don't even know if there's a time you can go in purposely for Disneyland well I don't know so that everyone's not there at once uh I don't know I don't know about that I know that they stagger the holidays though cuz remember Luke that guy the cab driver told us that I think I think yeah that's cuz we were like oh when's a good time to go and he's like oh there isn't one you just just deal with it yeah but you shoot a single Rider line and I'm a [ __ ] so yeah what are you worried about you always get special treatment no no no but even even with being a [ __ ] and single R light at when that place first opens it's going to be terrible to begin with I heard so I'm thinking we go maybe next year I heard that the inside Galaxy's

Edge that area all of the stores they won't they don't sell like merchandise as such they just sell things that exist in Star Wars and my source for that information is is Jenna and I don't know what her source for that information was so when you say things that exist in Star Wars like you could buy uh her example was like you could buy like holocrons and things like that like like it's merchandise but it's not like Mickey mousey and [ __ ] not like not like he's the figurines and stuff like that it's actually well they you could buy like like uh you know like raised toys of of Stormtroopers and stuff that she has you could buy stuff like that but you couldn't Buy like Han Solo like the action figure kind of thing it's it's supposed to be like you're in the world

yeah and I know the um all the restaurants have have you seen the photos of what the food looks like looks like [ __ ] it's all just blue milk right you can get blue milk and you can get green milk and you can get uh actually it's it's non-dairy uh milk whatever the [ __ ] it is it's some weird some non-dairy thing and it's um and all the food looks like like weird Wars [ __ ] like there's one that's got like bits of meat hanging on a hook and like you know like jar tries to eat yeah the food just looks like Star Wars food what it it yeah it seems really cool I'm interested I'm going to throw money at Disney to go through this place and then they've got are they doing that [ __ ] immersive experience yeah and that's what I mean like I am doing that I'm going to stay there I'm

going to do the ERS experience I'm doing everything going to be poor after this yeah poor but happy very happy but I'm thinking next year sure let it let it open up let it get through the sort of teething problems that most places have sure yeah all right and then we go fine I I have get drunk at the container I have the least distance to travel to get there so whatever um now which one do we go to yeah I mean piss mad off if we went to the one that was like 12 hours from his house rather than the one that's like 4 hours away what 12 it's like 6 hours away yeah it is it it is uh a lot more expensive to get to the other side of the country though but whatever you know whatever we can I'm coming from the other side of the world that's not my problem but no no no whatever we can

uh whatever we can work out uh sorry Craig that was quite a lengthly Star Wars discussion but we do have we'll move on now we have well we got another Disney movie we should discuss this week and it's probably I assume everybody's expecting us to talk about it no spoilers and the Hound fxing yeah Robin Hood oh I love Robin Hood yeah man [ __ ] I was obsessed with that movie when I was a kid no you know which movie it is Luke say the name Captain Marvel pronounced Marvel yeah yes sorry two words spoiler what do you guys think of Captain Marvel I didn't mind it but it's definitely not my favorite Marvel movie yeah I think that's a pretty good

summarizing of uh how I feel too it was good and I liked a lot about it it wasn't great I I put it up um second tier Marvel movie I think maybe I enjoyed it more than infinity War if I'm honest really I mean I enjoyed it more than uh Iron Man 3 for example but but not a heck of a lot more I've I've enjoyed trips to dentist more than Iron Man 3 so I'm going to that's not true that's not true listen the CGI that they had for Samuel Jackson I don't think that technology is there have I thought it was someone in it for a main star I thought it was fine and Carlson as well spoiler no it I thought Carson didn't didn't wasn't quite as successful as Samuel L's but I think iide with Matt on this one Luke I think

I I I bought into it maybe I just want maybe it was just me but yeah just I was looking at and you could I you could really tell like it was not real well speaking of which we we can get into specifics of what we liked or didn't like about it but for the first 45 minutes possibly to first hour I thought I might have been watching an episode of Star Trek and not a feature film like the starters like the story and it sounded like we were just getting kind of dropped right in the middle of some kind of high sci-fi story line uh involving really Camp looking aliens wearing masks like if you can CGI Samuel L Jackson's face young could we CGI some

of the details on a on an alien face as well so that it doesn't just look like a a man whose human lips are trying to move a mask and I preferred thatb over it mate because I can hear them trying to it just sounded like everyone was talking from behind a mask it was just such a bizarre choice I don't know that was fine to me I didn't even noce start I I didn't notice say either I was in fact the first I was so happy at the beginning of it like cuz a the the [ __ ] the soundtrack is great I don't know I I haven't even looked yet who did the soundtrack it's [ __ ] tops man like as in the the score is great because the score is different depend like like the style is completely different depending on what mode the movie is in cuz there's like sci-fi mode

and then there's you know '90s mode yeah I mean still sci-fi but what I mean and then all the music they picked was pretty good too with one exception which I with one exception that was a little too on the nose but uh is exactly my wording to Jenna little on the nose but uh I think a lot of it was a little too on the nose actually that the like when she land in 1990s Earth uh there's there's some great like cultur references with dramatic irony you know yeah and I think the first 10 were really funny and then the next 10 were pretty funny and then the next 100 I could have probably done without that's one thing I sort of found with the the humor in this I don't know it felt a bit forced yeah very forced I mean now don't get me

wrong like some of it was genuinely funny and there were times that I laughed out loud but they were definitely trying their hardest to make a comedy well well one complaint that I I think I agree with that I've heard cuz me there's [ __ ] some sort of war going on about this movie online people can't just take a watch a movie and [ __ ] just accept that it's a movie now it's got to be some big statement like okay yeah it's a movie and it's got a girl in it and they do play up the fact that she's a girl like okay [ __ ] whatever like yeah don't who gives a [ __ ] uh but apparently that's that's a problem for people of course it is well Iron Man has the word man in the title Spiderman also Man U the one complaint that I was like oh yeah fair is that

she's more fun as a character at the start of the film and then by the end of it she kind of just Peter's out into she's just doing stuff yeah I I agree with that but I I I feel she was that from the start too I think she falls into that category of when the the hero of the movie is the least interesting character in the movie uh because Samuel L Jackson was you know he was great Ben Mendelson is a scene stealer [ __ ] awesome man Ben Mendon is in everything now I know and I can't believe they let him do his own accent like he's doing his real like that first time you saw him where this [ __ ] alien just leans in and in Ben melson's [ __ ] recreational heroin user voice just goes you tell me your secrets and I'll tell you mine I was like [ __ ]

this is so good but I I find she falls into that category of describe her character oh you can't you could say what she does but you can't really say who who she is yeah know what she's about I don't know she's kind of like she's got no memory and all that jazz too so I I'm sure people are going to argue no no no okay I thought that was handled I didn't like the way that was handled either I think if if you're going to if you're going to make that a mystery then you gave us way too much information about her up front and if if you're going to make it a Like An Origin story then you didn't give enough information because if if you were really telling that story properly and she had no memory who did she think she was cuz that's interesting and like okay

she thought she was one of them she thought she was a freedom fighter and all of this okay that's great except that you've already told me she's not one that she's from another place that place is Earth and that she's lost her memory okay what so what have I got left to discover zero it was just a really Choice the amount of I first 10 minutes of the movie no no I know I know cuz I was going to say the plot of this in general I mean it's not going to surprise anybody it ties in really well with the rest of the Marvel Universe and it's kind of like the conceit of the film if you if you've been paying attention is fairly obvious because we know what happens in Guardians of the Galaxy and who these characters are so like I I don't want to say any spoilers

or anything like that but there wasn't weren't a whole lot of surprises for me you know as we went along I do have just one question though why is it that they haven't um Nick Fury hasn't tried to bring her in earlier well actually someone asked um Kevin feed that and they he said how do you know he didn't try good point MH so and then yeah yep got me there I assume that every plot hole like that or seeming plot hole will either be discussed in upcoming films or we'll we'll make itself known once once we kind of given a well-rounded kind of knowledge of it of what happened in all those moments that we haven't seen yet you know what sad too to a degree was thinking about it afterwards is the way that this tied in like with guardians

and with with all of that stuff I was like I wonder this is what James gun was working on like this generation of the movies like this iteration and I'm like I wonder if if these kind of tians because I I my I have no complaints about the way this kind of you know it's basically a prequel to to the other movies and I thought they it worked really well in that in that way like you get to see yeah where certain things kind of came from and uh and some of those things I thought were handled well and some of them I didn't quite understand or like but we could get into that when we talk about spoilers next week all right no worries but yeah it just made me think oh man I wonder if it's all going to go to [ __ ] even if now that they've gotten rid of James

like yeah but who knows they they seem they were doing they were doing a okay job before him as well I guess so yeah they weren't they weren't running out of money or anything before James gun came along well it's not money that I'm worried about DC's got money too but they don't seem to be doing as good a job of you know maintaining a cohesive [ __ ] idea of what the [ __ ] going on in their films well that brings it on to Will Smith isn't going to come back as was a Deadshot yeah can't say I'm too disappointed about that I don't know I didn't think he was that bad Will Smith exactly like I really think they need uh to Ryan Johnson this movie Kill the past yeah oh now we're in suppor of Ryan Johnson yeah yeah well I

think they are because it's not Suicide Squad 2 suicide squ one is not a beloved film from 50 years ago but he Academy award-winning film unlike Star Wars yeah that's that's true so has has he actually signed up or as he just yeah no this is this is legit as far as I know okay [ __ ] Idris Elba is replacing Will Smith and that is uh that's an upgrade as far as I'm concerned I like Will Smith but Will Smith is Will Smith and idrisa is he was one of the better people in that movie I I I know where you're coming from and I agree but I feel like he just it's just Will Smith doing Will Smith it's like if you put Tom Cruz in a superhero movie it's just [ __ ] oh look there's Tom Cruz like yeah yeah but he wouldn't be good in it though Tom Cruz would be Tom

Cruz is great com Cruz that's not his name his name is Tom Cruz I don't know what I don't know what this love of Tom Cruz is I don't get it Tom Cruz is great Tom Cruz or of everyone's love of Tom Cruz that you don't care everyone's just cuz you Luke I've met Tom Cruz [ __ ] whatever yeah oh he's snuck into my room and told me not to tell anyone yeah it was a secret yeah but you don't like you don't like Tom Cruz no all right I mean look not going to stand here and defend Tom Cruz because I mean Tom Cruz is as you say just Tom Cruz in every movie but I think Tom Cruz is great so in every movie that he's Tom Cruz I'm buying that's why I think I think he's the same as Will Smith in the Will Smith is also great but he he's

also Will Smith like you put and Cruz early movies I enjoyed and then I don't know he gets get to a stage where I just he he needs to realize that he's getting older yeah and accept that instead of still trying to be young and 20 old seen Fallout no I haven't seen any of them it's a good movie man he's still got it I mean he's also insane but you know yeah yeah but you can't hold that against him no look Will Smith's been in the news this week uh for other stuff other than just being replaced in Suicide Squad and we don't have to go too much into this but I don't understand this or maybe I do but it just really blew my mind um yeah took me by surprise Will Smith has been cast uh in a movie uh which is what is what

happens um and he's been cast as Serena Williams father in the Serena Williams biopic right M and um people all over the internet are Furious because that's what they do um because they're saying that uh this is colorist uh which is like racism but colorism is when you cast a black actor who's just not quite black enough yeah the character is the character the the guy the their par their dad is uh is much darker than Will Smith I guess is I'm trying trying to so [ __ ] careful I don't want to say anything accidentally you know offensive but I just this really strange I don't really know okay see the first thing that popped into my head is I think he's too

young look no no he's playing him in the past he's playing him I mean that's fair he's he's playing the old man when the old man was young right I don't know well I'm telling you he is okay then he might not be too young but that's the first thing popped into head when you saw this photo of them side by side yeah I mean look they're not wrong they are different looking yeah but it's not the man it's an actor I mean Tom Cruz could play that role I would love to see Tom Cruz Williams father no but seriously I mean this this blows my mind because obviously you would need to cast an African-American actor to play an African-American character that's just not even Up For Debate but the fact that you need to cast people of the same they

got to look exactly the same yeah they got to look exactly like him uh that's uh that's a new one to me fine you know it's I don't have a you know do what do what you need to do that's fine if if people are upset by that I guess fair enough that I I think that's a little extreme but whatever I don't necessarily think it's extreme it just was something I had never ever considered and if that is offensive then sure maybe we should be looking at colorism but uh I tell you day before yesterday I had never heard of colorism yeah at all no I'll this is the first time I've heard of it now Luke you're famous for condoning uh certain types of racism that others might find uh appalling uh

that's one way of saying it but yeah is that you that's Dan's preferred way of saying it you down on the side of blackace right and you've gone too far he's just not going to talk now so I want to I want to know what you think about this and I I don't want some [ __ ] bitting answer I want to know if you think this is a legitimate gripe or no this is people being ridiculous okay interesting okay let me float something to you then and I'm not trying to be provocative I legitimately want to know you're because this was the first thing that popped into my head too right mhm what if they just darkened him up a

bit um will admit I thought about that as well yeah they have put him in they put go outside and get a bit of sun Smith's been doing blue face recently gammer and contrast on the camera darken the footage just just don't put as much light on him just underexpose the whole film if they did that if they didn't do it I really do not see what the problem is I just but I but I guess that's part and parcel right we don't see what the problem is because we are not on this side of the picnic I'm saying I find this weird and it seems extreme to me but then you know [ __ ] I'm not I'm more than happy to to take advice from people who know more about this or or have more experience with these kind of things happy to be told yeah doesn't affect me in the slightest so whatever I I think

that's what it comes down to yeah it's like we certainly shouldn't have an opinion either way because nothing to do with us it yeah is interesting though and definitely surprised me I was like oh I didn't realize that was a thing that's fair enough seeing as we've already opened up this can of worms and we're talking about something that's potentially controversial uh I watched a documentary two-part documentary over this weekend called leaving Neverland which is of course the oh that out Michael Jackson expose it is it's out worldwide this weekend um I didn't watch it yet but I read some stuff about it that was interesting okay well I I'd like to hear what you read and and what your thoughts about it on it was before I say anything about the film

itself I just want to say that after I had watched it I listened back to last week's episode of the podcast and I actually felt embarrassed about a few of the things that I said and uh yeah I think I think I was quite naive about this subject I mean we've made fun for the last [ __ ] 20 years of Michael Jackson oh he mests kids without actually really thinking about what that means and like when you watch this documentary it puts a human face to that and like I'll be the first to admit like I probably shouldn't have needed a documentary to make me not make jokes about a child molester but like when you have graphic descriptions by these guys not just of the sex acts that were committed but that is part of the documentary but of the years of grooming

not only of the kids but of the families of the kids and the community and and years of covering up and lies and manipulation by somebody who is very powerful and and and very persuasive um to cover up what what what is an epidemic of of Serial committing of crimes it it it really this documentary if you if anyone's on the fence about it you if you watch this documentary and you still think his music was so good it doesn't matter what he does in his private life then uh you need to take a introspective look at your life well I think it's that people did thought that it didn't matter what he did life it's the fact that it was never Pro back then that's the thing it what what proof

can any rape case have I haven't watched it yet but I have I did this week someone linked to uh it was it was started as tweets and people started posting about it and there's some information just regarding there's two two people as far as I'm aware involved in in this documentary it's two two men who are saying who telling the story of of what happened and in particular one of them and I don't know the names cuz I haven't seen the show and I was only it just caught my interest because this guy uh I believe the main guy is is there a main guy in the documentary no not really it really does bounce between the two all right well one of them was for a very long time a staunch supporter of Michael Jackson loved Michael Jackson absolutely both were H and it was only

recently and when he had already he sold off all of his Michael Jackson merchandise still still a you know a proud you know supporter of Michael Jackson sold off all his merchandise uh couldn't get a job um as a as a you know an ex friend of Michael Jackson had no money now he's done this and okay the you you're you're right on on a few points there and you're wrong on a few points there that's fair he sell he didn't sell the memorabilia he had a lot of Michael Jackson memorabilia he didn't sell it he burnt it right as part of his like therapy and coping with it and the thing is all of these guys were staunch supporters of Michael Jackson They testified at two of his trials to say that no it never happened to him mhm if you and if you and if you want to

know why the the movie does a very very good job of explaining why someone who was manipulated in such a way from an early age would even as an adult would would support the person that was doing this to them these people don't talk about Michael Jackson like he was a sexual predator they loved him and they were in relationships real relationships with him they just happened to be kids it's fascinating how normal and I'm doing air quotes the relationships were no no Michael Jackson would date kids he would have one at a time he would date them for a while and then he would break up with them and he would date another kid like because they got too old that's part of it but also because just like in life you just you meet someone

else and and he just you know they were the flavor of the month like it it's it's very normal in every way except for the fact that he they were children and he had to lie and manipulate in order to even have a situation where he could do these things I just find it odd that that like stuff like what you're saying why hasn't anyone said anything about those specifics before that's all and like I said look I well people have don't forget people have been saying this all along I thought it was vager than that before but I don't have out in the '90s yeah yeah but kids came out in the '90s if you remember back and they were like no man he did this this and this okay like like and then in 2003 it happened again another kid was like yeah this guy [ __ ] me but

both times Michael could produce enough character witnesses to say that no no no man he didn't do and these people are probably just out there for the money and whatever but like people have been saying this for years and people were always this specific okay we just all ignored it well I just didn't hear about it I guess yeah like I I heard the kind of sanitized version of it which like honestly my opinion of it for for most of my life has been H he was just kind of sad story of a kid exploited by his dad and he never really turned into an adult and so he preferred to hang out with kids and maybe he inapoi with them but I never actually I guess I never thought it went that far but yeah I was exactly the same as you that's the thing like it it's that's exactly what I

thought too and I'm like he probably didn't even know that he was Crossing Lines because he's got that kind of childlike brain but [ __ ] yeah exactly right and I think I was just really naive in having that if it's as like nefarious as as described then yeah I don't think that could be the case cuz you'd have to lie and cover it up like that you'd have to be aware that there's a problem yeah yes exactly well I guess I need to watch this documentary I think you should actually feel like being depressed it's eye opening and and and I was actually like I'm dead set surprised at how it affected me H yeah did you watch what's that we I know you did because we we talked about it on messenger we didn't talk about here what's that other one abducted in plain

sight did you watch that oh no I never saw it watched it oh Jesus Christ that's [ __ ] terrifying really weird yeah just just the just this family I'm just like oh and not the not blaming the family but just like it's just such a it's a lot it's a lot happens in this documentary and I'm it just blows my mind that this is this the case I would have heard of outside this documentary I don't know I'd never heard of it it was it's the it's about it's a pedophile who befriends a family so that he can get close to the door is the short version of it apparently they have no idea and it's like what do you mean you have no idea he was [ __ ] sleeping in a room like five nights a week and and and you should watch this Michael Jackson thing

stuff was with Scott Pilgrim they had a song that was in the Scott Pilgrim trailer Invaders must die and I don't know if they' I don't know what they've released Inc I knew they were still around man they were highly highly infuential so I mean doesn't surprise me I guess that they'd still be gone around performing yeah yeah I've got a shock I up so then yeah so got a shock that he died as well but double shock yep but the one you the one who really stole your heart this week was Luke Perry was it Luke Perry yep I'm going to give him geek a week I uh I must admit I was kind of bummed H when I heard he made a come he made a comeback recently with with Riverdale he sure did you know I mean and he's not just Dylan from 902 and0

you know he was in the original Buffy the Vampire slay exactly yeah also uh Fifth Element oh yeah yeah right at the start and little flashback that still confuses me his role in Fifth Element cuz he was sort of becoming a big star and then he he's in Fifth Element for like 5 minutes and it's what's that movie what's the movie where Kurt Russell dies in the first 10 minutes oh executive decision yes I don't know why I remember that it's a Steig movie yeah yeah it is Steven cigar and but it's like Steven Seagal and Kurt Russell like build together and he spoilers he dies 10 minutes yeah have you seen that video that recent video of Steven Seagal doing an Aikido demo oh Christ no it's the [ __ ] saddest thing I've ever seen he's like he's he's a big now he's a big

fellow he's put on a lot of weight and you can tell it's just him waving his arms around like while these guys just do flips and stuff like it's clearly fake and he's he's just like slapping at him and then they're like doing like big back flips and [ __ ] no way this is it some demo thing yeah it's embarrassing look it up I don't want to seems weird dude he he needs to be in prison I think we've talked about him before his you know he kept his be careful he had his Harum of um of Japanese underage women allegedly allegedly and then they had to flee the country that's that was my understanding allegedly I don't want to get W I don't want to get flipped over no you definitely don't you definitely don't I

do Wonder though those guys whose whole career is based around creating a Persona of being a tough guy like how do you how do you maintain that because like I mean is it easy enough to just say no dude I'm an actor like I like I I look at Chuck Norris right Chuck Norris just looks like a guy where he's not like that's never quite understood the Chuck Norris craze like if he just showed up at the at the [ __ ] W he looked like my dad beard yeah exactly he's just a guy like good my name's Chuck like [ __ ] Bruce Lee yeah he won but only just so I think he uh he he got kind of mastered it cuz now he can just like he just looks like a he like someone's Dad yeah but then he's also an action movie and he was in uh Expendables to looks just

looks the same I have not seen any Expendables should I watch them yeah two I thought they are what they are like two is pretty good just because there's a scene where I've talked about this on the podcast before there's a scene where Anie and Bruce Willis are like in in a shootout Well everybody's in the shootout but Anie and Bruce Willis are together and then um Annie's like we need to get a car and then Bruce comes back with like a smart car and then an's like what the [ __ ] like rips the door off the Smart car and he's got like a [ __ ] chain gun and he's s he's in sitting in the passenger seat of this smart car with like a chain gun and Bruce Willis is driving it through a airport Lobby it's pretty good it's

pretty good from that point of view from that point of view it's pretty good okay maybe I should give it a go and then you got Stallone and [ __ ] Dolph lungren and uh I think jet Le's in it and um Chuck Norris and oh yeah chck is in there um [ __ ] what's his name uh Jason Statham Jason Statham's Cruz he's in there Terry Cruz that's who I'm thinking of Terry Cruz okay yeah M they're all in there yeah all right yeah I mean I love action movies I don't know why I necessarily didn't watch this other than it looked a bit [ __ ] it is a bit [ __ ] but but it's also good okay well they've wrapped filming the new uh the new Rambo movie too

yeah I mean the last one was fine the last one was not the worst though no but it was not I mean it I didn't we didn't need it let's be honest I mean we didn't need the second one be honest three yeah exactly they were really pushing it to come up with a sequel to it they send him back to Vietnam I mean what the actual [ __ ] do you know two was written by James Cameron I don't know if we talked about this when we talked about Rambo I don't think we did James C right wrote Rambo 2 [ __ ] another disaster he's responsible for we should have known early on yeah we should have known but uh Luke Perry K it [Music] awake one thing that I saw this week

that I I had a little chuckle at the MIT technology review was published uh this month I don't know whe it comes out every month or it's by annual or whatever but there was an article in it about how all hipsters look alike and they used a stock photo of a hipster and put on the cover I saw this picture Luke yeah yeah well actually the guy who was in the picture um saw it and was Furious that they used his picture to to demonstrate that all hipsters look alike got in contact with the magazine and said how dare you use my picture and they said sir this isn't you and I think that's excellent cuz he was even trying to say cuz it he actually he was a model who sold so they purchased a photo from Getty Images yes and in the actual thing

it actually said like they the model said you can't use my character for like anything that's defamatory or anything like that so he's claiming that being a hipster would be theator and then yeah it wasn't him it wasn't him so the one at the bottom in this article is the one from the the one at the top is the guy and the other one is the the hipster from the the article right is that I don't think he's in it at all is he look I mean they're both men with beards and checkered shirts but I mean that could describe you man I don't have any Checker shirts I don't think that's [ __ ] [ __ ] I don't maybe you have a couple I just clicked through I don't own any Checker shirts I just clicked through the original article and yeah that's

that's the case it's the the one down the bottom is the Getty Images one that's embedded halfway down is is the one that they used and then I guess the guy at the top must be uh the the Furious man although I don't know why he would agree to be uh photographed for this so maybe that's just another yeah I find it hard to believe that he would agree to come out and cuz also this photo looks nothing like him well I think the nose is similar so maybe it's the same guy just with a longer beard how do you not know what you look like that's a very good question I feel like I not just what you look like how do you not know whether something's a photo you remember posing for or not exactly well maybe he's he's a model he maybe has a lot of photos

yeah no I guess you're right yeah but still if I look at a photo and it looks someone's dressed a bit like me I know it's not me yeah I don't know Luke if I if I saw a if I saw a tattooed bearded redhead with green hair and wearing a kilt and it wasn't you like my mind to be [ __ ] blown yeah that doesn't happen too of true we've got a little bit of followup um which I guess we should we should cover yeah I guess so I mean we do a podcast so normally we do the follow-up at the start but obviously we got distracted by uh by Disney um m it's easy to do well they're both True Crime related yeah supp so so last week when we we reported on Momo this [ __ ] hideous uh F kind of grotesque face that was evidently telling kids to kill

themselves but it actually wasn't it was just something that was getting shared on social media and became a bit of a uh urban legend but uh as it turns out which we reported on last week's show it's actually a sculpture by a by a Japanese artist um a man by the name of uh kiso ISO hey nice and he's [ __ ] horrified that this [ __ ] has happened so you know he's horrified by his own statue yeah well he's come out and just said look like I can't help but feel responsible for all his sad children um and uh he just wants everyone to know he has destroyed the statue it no longer exists in fact he says this quote it doesn't exist anymore it was never meant to last it was rotten and I threw it away the children can be rest assured

Momo is dead and the curse is gone so he does admit there was a curse yeah also he says he threw it away like wait a minute what do you mean I put it in the trash outside I put I threw it in the bin yeah yeah I mean I left it I left it on a satanic altar that I that I found it does say the model made out of rubber and oils was thrown away last year with only the eyes left to be reused in a future project what if the eyes are the C you mean oh my God don't keep the eyes that's the bit that's the that's the where the soul lives in the eyes that's what that's the old saying we all know that eyes are the gateway to the soul come on mate what are you doing can I I mean this guy also last year sounds like he's just trying to cash in on this like he's he's

throwing away his statue because no one liked it and then and he's like oh don't worry kids I just I destroyed it for you yeah yeah when oh at some point after couple of years ago after I tried to sell it no one wanted it yeah when when the gallery so they wouldn't distribute it anymore but come on if you're if you're the kind of guy who makes creepy statues you've got to know that uh you know you can't just go like I'm keeping those [ __ ] eyes cuz that's how that's how [ __ ] demonic possession happens we all know it exactly well the statue uh it was known as mother bird right and it is [ __ ] creepy as hell if you haven't looked it up just Google momo you'll see it but he based it off this ghost story Japanese ghost story in which a woman dies giving

birth and it ends up haunting the area as a bird monster so that's what I mean that's [ __ ] terrifying anyway I mean the statue Japanese know how to [ __ ] frighten you that's for sure oh yeah absolutely I me yeah the first time I saw uh The Grudge yeah The Grudge scared the [ __ ] out of me just so like unnerving yeah visceral they good at making things feel real [ __ ] weird like familiar but weird it's like cve Barker used to say like big monsters aren't scary something that looks sort of normal but abnormal is scary so true cuz it doesn't doesn't quite look right and it it's unsettling yeah speaking of unsettling

uh last week uh I mentioned that I started watching param oh yeah on Netflix uh well I finished it and uh it was [ __ ] great so thanks for turning me on to that Matthew you're welcome you're welcome it's a good show very very good I must admit I had to really really sit down and think about kind of what had happened in the series leading up to the end once once the end had occurred sure just to wrap your head and yeah yeah yeah like once uh once the mystery had been solved I was like wait what did anything have to do with oh you know kind of the the more I thought about it the more I uh yeah realized how how interconnected everything was uh really really strong strong series it agreed Luke check it out or maybe don't because oh no it's in

English oh yeah did you have the same problem we did where uh it's dubbed right so the the German is in English but then in parts of it they speak French for extended periods of time and there's no subtitles yeah there's one character who who speaks French a lot uh no I ended up going with the subtitles so it was all just and so to be honest to be I I I kind of forgot that they were speaking French some of the time cuz I was just always reading English so yeah I gotta it's just yeah there's a couple of moments where it's just like oh God and if it's only short I'm like h i I get the gist but then if it if it's a half you know if it's 10minute scene I got to go back and put yeah you're missing plot points I'll say this though the the music was amazing mhm yeah it

reminded me of Warren Ellis uh from the bad seeds with just that kind of ambient scratchy fiddle sound yeah loved it overall [ __ ] top show and uh and and I guess I mean be warned it's got uh it's got some content that I don't think you would get from an American TV show definitely mate they [ __ ] go there yeah the Germans do not hold back so as we learned the other piece of followup is uh and I don't know if we mentioned that uh he was getting potentially getting a retral Adan Sayed from Cal I think we did talk about this didn't we yeah we have he was coming up they they they granted him a new trial uh well they've they taken it away from

him again a judge has found that uh basically they don't feel that the evidence that has been submitted the New Evidence is enough to convince a jury to change their mind they think the jury yeah they reckon they'll just come to the same conclusions so he's uh I mean that certainly seems like something that shouldn't be up to the judge you know I feel like you should be go to a Jud a panel of Judges sure but but even so I mean the point is the jewelry jewelry a jewry is that they're supposed to listen to the evidence and make up their mind it's not up to the judge to go oh they probably say he was guilty so don't don't even bother Shing him I think it's different cuz I mean the the jury already did say he was guilty and now he had been tried and he yeah he had

been and but he they were trying to say his his Council was useless and whatnot and they saying no they don't think so yeah they said look his Council may be useless but he's uh clearly guilty so how much longer does he have to spend in jail oh I don't know uh did he get life for I mean's murder right he he's he's done for so but life's only 25 years isn't it man I'm hoping to live longer than that [ __ ] I'm on borrow time already guys yeah come on manate yeah but isn't there's a difference between like life impr prison and then life term it's yeah it is different between Australia and America but I can't remember which one I mean I think some places life literally just means you don't get out and other places yeah as you say a sentence is a

Adventure thing yeah the thing is it's a zombie game but you don't fight zombies you're basically you play as a sicko who uses the fact that there's a zombie apocalypse on to try to rape as many women as possible this is [ __ ] bizarre I don't understand why someone would make this game I don't understand I don't understand is that people are up in arms that Val have decided not to put this on the platform is that true because people are saying this is an infringement on the freedom of speech and there not the most people are sort of upset with the developer for making it but there is there are some people who are saying yeah it's infringing on their freedom of speech and it should be allowed to go out and sort of like freedom of speech means you can say things doesn't mean

you can make money off it yeah vales within their to not let you on their platform if they don't like what you're saying was giving it away for free he could probably try and claim freedom of speech but he's trying to make money off it if the government was was saying no you're not allowed to make that game that would be a freedom of speech violation if the if the government stepped in and said stop making that game that would that would be a violation of your I don't know if it even would be does freedom of speech does that transcend into I mean it depends on which country you are yeah that's true that's true you don't in Australia no assuming this is America where they do have constitutionally protected freedom of speech I mean that

means you can write a book with a subject that's really taboo but that doesn't mean that a publisher has to publish it because of your right to free speech so of course can still be made illegal to sell it doesn't stop you from giving it away yeah actually yeah that's a good point H yeah well this article says that the the game has uh usual survival mechanics but it's a visual novel so I think maybe that's just a mistake cuz no this game is going to this game is going to look terrible play horrible it's not going to be a good game it's just a stupid like rapy visual novel right but then people are one of those people are getting SS and they're going after the developer and sending him death death threats and all this I'm sort of like

you're not really helping your cause there yeah I mean and let's let's not send anyone death threats but I mean also I mean this is this is a silly [ __ ] thing to do don't don't make games where you have to rape women like honestly just don't do it yeah sorry I wasn't saying I wasn't saying the visual novels are stupid I've worked on a few and I don't think they ask you but I think this one is no no yeah this one is yeah this one I think is one of those ones that's trying to be risky so it'll get people to buy it because it's risky but people won't buy it because they're think it's going to be a good game cuz it's no it's going to be a garbage game yeah oh maybe it'll be good I guess we'll find out when Luke plays it I won't be playing

this I get you wink wink no achievements wink wonder if it's coming out of the Xbox almost certainly not oh I know people are mad that uh valve didn't condemn it as thoroughly as people wanted as well so yeah and in fact it took them uh it took them quite a while to decide whether what side they were going to come down on here yeah and they're kind of wishy-washy about why like uh they've decided last year they decided they were going to stop Banning stuff and just let unless it was illegal or trolling let people vote with their wallet yeah I I I think and then they had to step in here because yeah I I think Common Sense wins in this in this scenario cuz I'm a big advocate of freedom of speech too but uh at the same time

uh yeah I don't want to play a [ __ ] game where you have to rap people well you don't have to play it Danny well exactly you don't have to play no it's on Steam I've got to play it yeah man I well what about that guy whose goal in life is to play every single steam game he would have to play it oh man what a disaster for him but yeah I I get I I do find it weird when people go like oh freedom of speech when their posts get deleted off Instagram and Facebook and went no you're allowed to say it they don't have to print what you're saying no obligation you can go on the street and yell at at people yep that's people get mad at um Twitter for Banning people say oh suppressing freedom of speech uh not right now I think if they determine that that Twitter is a human

right uh you might get in trouble for that but up until that Twitter can do whatever the [ __ ] they want yeah they don't like you that's right you're that upset about it go make your own well they've tried that it doesn't work no s because people are complain well I guess tw Twitter is very left leaning so people complain that a lot of right-wing people get banned and what that well yeah they are deal with it yeah and yeah they're well within their rights of private their own company they they are and they will so this game the main character just looks like a [ __ ] [ __ ] look at him uh yeah I think is that an actual picture from the game I don't think I I don't know I I think the graphics would be too
