not not at the moment no but what would happen when I was younger I've done a thing where I've snapped screws and things and broken things that I shouldn't been able to break cuz I was a bit too active on it still play you in your jock days yes do kids still play hand I hope so no they're too busy on their phones and handball mean the same thing anywhere else in the world that's a thing I'm curious I know it doesn't mean it at the Olympics cuz when I heard there was handball at the Olympics I was like I could I could go to the Olympics for that I'm brilliant at this game it's not the handball we play no it's not they don't call the Olympic handball and someone goes I'm Ace you're King you're Queen you're dunce dunce yeah I think that should be an event though AB that

would make so much more sense to the event they have there oh yeah I don't get because in in that handall you can actually buy it to play on the Xbox it's made by blue ant studio so it's actually made in Australia there you go Matt that's what kids do now they play handball on the Xbox you can buy I don't think they do you can buy penth High School handball on Xbox no International oh it's the actual H so what you're telling me is there's a gap in the market there is a huge gap in the market and I say this is our game the game we've been talking about for a long time SP has a BL I mean this is not what I expected our game was going to be well there was another game where used to play Matt at your school cuz we actually we went to different high schools Luke

and I went to to one you went to another M did you have a game at your high school called bum buum don't this is not a this is notti I'm literally asking you you had this game I remember this game I don't know I don't remember a game called bum what what how does you may have had a version of it or you may not have more so older kids imagine handball you you can play it with a with a tennis ball but you need a wall you play it against a wall it's every man for himself you throw the it's almost like squash actually now that I think of it you throw the ball at the wall it's got to hit on the fall and bounce back if if it bounces before you catch it mhm you've got to get to the wall before somebody throws the ball so You' got to touch the wall before the

ball does if you don't you get B right mhm happens twice you get bu happens three times you get bu M and you're against the wall and everyone has a free shot at your ass with the ball with the ball with the ball I'm pretty sure we did have that I don't think I ever played it cuz I'm not maybe Carl brought it to your school from our school that's possible the link between your world and ours yeah cuz I yeah I went to a senior school and some people that went to school with Luke and Dan came to my senior school and it all got mixed up in that sense that's how I met that's how I met where are those people now yeah I'm doing some of them doing great things oh yeah no no no I don't I mean why aren't they on this podcast I don't mean that they're

all [ __ ] let's invite them where are they now look at us mhm yeah well Carl's a community leader now so you know I know yeah which is still just so weird cuz I went to school with him and was banned from my house blew all of our mind you see the change when he was growing up he was that sort of pushing the boundaries all the time and then he just sort of started to lean straighter and actually sort of became respected pushing the boundaries is is a nice way of phrase that's not how my mother would have phrased it when she was telling me he wasn't allowed over anymore no I think it was when he got to like a year 11 and 12 that he really it research he had to become the enemy in order to fight the enemy when he got older do you think he went through some

kind of hero's journey to become the man he is you know like he crossed the threshold he went down into the proverbial hell and fought the devil and then came back changed yeah like what's that what's that Christian book run baby run Bible you remember that book I don't know about run baby run Matt it's called you're going to have to you're going to have to fill us in is the baby baby Jesus no no no no no run baby run is it like spot what the hell Run Spot Run no uh run baby run yeah it's a it's a book Nikki Cruz he was some um New York gang leader who became like a born- again Christian and he wrote a book and then it went it went around my SCH warning babies to get out of his way it it went around my school because it was

like the first three qus of the book is just about guy's really [ __ ] violent like sexual life in as a gang leader and and but but the end the moral of the story is it becomes a born again Christian so but because but that's on the last page but I don't do that stuff anymore because it was a Christian book I guess we were allowed to have it but it was like what a great great salesman that we were really we loved it we had a book going around our school too didn't we l yeah Cindy's first love upset about that you're a little bit different to yours and I don't think she becomes a Christian at the end oh she does not she does not less said about that book the better doesn't even exist on the internet and I've looked look we've got

a lot of uh there's a lot of news this week a lot of news this week there is a lot of news we've got some followup should we start there yeah for sure or should we start with the elephant in the room El shooting into the crew there's a couple of things people are expecting to talk about I bet yeah we should proba do you want to start with Al Baldwin Jesus Christ what a [ __ ] disaster the people are there's going to be criminal charges over this not for him hopefully reading today know not for him as an actor possibly for him as a producer so all of the newspaper articles are being very very vague on this so I kind of trolled some industry forums to see if I could find out as much information as I could and there are three additional

factors that are being left out of a lot of Articles number one is that there were two gun mishaps previous to this particular gun mishap right which should never happen there's always meant to be an armor on set there's only two people are allowed to touch a gun on set even a painted up water pistol the armorer and the actor who the script says can handle it and the armor hands it to them before the take they hand it back straight after this was not the case evidently whoever was closest to the gun was just grabbing it passing yeah it's fine yeah in this particular instance it was first ad who just grabbed the gun off the table brought it over to Alec and said here you go secondly the crew had walked out 6 hours before this because they were being overworked yeah and they said

camera cameramen w we walked out saying that overworked that they'll referen the gun and how it's so unsafe and yep there was a text message after the second misfire from one crew member to another that somebody's posted up on Reddit that says that's the second stray gunshot on this set this place is unsafe so and evidently they had put in like an official Complaint as well apparently because of Co they're concerned they're going to shut down production again and so this is shut down now it down I know I know that but apparently this is not the only set that's having issues because they're just trying to rush and they don't have have they have time for safety precautions which is just not no yeah cuz that leads to this one

thing that's annoying me throughout all of this they keep referring to it as a prop gun it's not a prop gun from what I hear it's not a prop gun no it's a it's a real firearm that's just been loaded with blanks but there's different types of blanks types of blanks and even blanks there is that risk that still it won't break up especially close this was not a blank round this was not a blank like why was it why was that how do you why was there a live round on set anywhere well yeah I mean sometimes you need to fire at something um yeah no no I get that you want to get a shot of the gun shooting a thing and you would do that under careful condition you don't need entire crew there for those shots that's a and take the rounds out of the gun when you're done for [ __ ] sake yeah well I

mean not only that this was evidently not during a take it was during a rehearsal I've read one account that said even rehearsal of the scene wasck but others toate that could I could see that they weren't filming cuz I know you said like they walked off 6 hours beforehand what I was seeing is they' walked off 30 minutes before this had happened and if the crews aren't there to film and you're a bit bored and gun I read I mean [ __ ] knows what's true with all this going around but I read that the crew had walked off so they had been replaced with people from a local film school yeah with nonunion SCS they were still experienced oh God that's look at the end of this it's going to be criminal

charges there there has to be this is a completely preventable death mhm yeah that's that's true awful and and and someone's getting sued and I just I feel so bad for him because yeah maybe he you know he Bears he didn't no matter what he did wrong he didn't mean to shoot anyone of course but then also at the end of the day he knows of the issues that were having on set cuz it was his bodyguard his double that had fired off the earlier Shots by accident I believe he ends so he knew that was he and the dop who unfortunately he he killed were part of the the voice to you know promote safety they were they were trying to say this is not acceptable but he still went ahead with the shoot so as in the the the film shoot not the not the so it's going to be very interesting

to see what comes of this but there's going to be manslaughter charges there has to be yeah [ __ ] crimes you're going down you'll pay for what you've done yeah mhm and just like uh what's that eagle on that switch game that you guys play legal eagle uh Phoenix Right Phoenix Phoenix Right Phoenix right that's it it's not an e phen actually an e Dan just for the record sure I mean his name is Phoenix and he's a okay he's not he a cartoon human yeah okay got it got it got it but in the spirit of of him of Phoenix W um if Alec Baldwin wants to get off he's going to have to find someone else to blame yeah he's going to have to investigate who it actually was yeah yeah cuz at the moment it is him yeah

yeah what I thought was interesting is that um the estate of Brandon Lee immediately um tweeted in response to this and was like yeah this sucks doesn't it not in those they lovely but just the fact that they weigh when origin happened to BR lead it was that whole thing they brought in rules and everything and then what it be 40 30 years later and same thing happens yeah yeah that was another mishandling too because it was just two different types of blanks loaded one after the other one with a with a live round without any charge and then one with a charge but no round but one plus the other equals a real bullet yeah no this horrible I wouldn't wish this on anybody I mean some of the some of the takes on the internet are just gross I think

there's a lot Alec Baldwin pissed off a lot of people with his uh sat out live appearances in the last did he few years yeah he you know and all that kind of stuff and so there's some I've seen some I mean yeah come on come on guys Jesus you know had sat Night Live on the other the other day I think she was just watching it cuz Kim Kardashian was Co was was guest hosting um which was a hilarious experience just cultural phenomenon but um so I kind of was in the room and I and I caught the opening titles and I didn't know a single person I definitely don't I haven't for a long time I thought I'd know someone I knew nobody no I saw cuz also it's not something you

really watch here in the no it's not something I've ever watched but I I know that there was the Bill Murray Dan arroy era you know and then there was the uh and then there was the that that's it no what's that no there was the second wave what's the guy from Billy Madison Adam Sandler Adam Sandler that that era yeah yeah that's right and then there was like the Christ wig Bill hater era Sandberg yeah yeah but now these guys never heard of them never heard of any of them some some guy El musk was on there I did see a you think when um you know the he and Grimes have broken up sadly MH someone said do you think Grimes was rewatching the Saturday Night Live episode and the warrior sketch came on she was like you know what I don't love

him no I I will in in defense of not knowing anyone on there I will admit I never knew anyone on there until they got famous after it yeah you could their own movies and that's when start to go know who they are and I only ever watched Satur Night Live in like one sketch at a time when somebody was like oh you got to watch this uh you don't have recognition because it's different people each one and so yeah I think that's might be play to it a little bit cuz yeah Adam Sandler I didn't know of him from sat Night Live Until Billy Madison came out and it was oh yeah he started there and then after Billy Madison was out or Happy Gilmore uh as well I only knew him because David downloaded a whole bunch of songs about like goats and stuff tall gos

and that's right God I remember his albums now yeah like only people who were into like that kind of Comedy for about 2 years in the late very late ' 90s are going to know even what we're talking about well we discussed the one thing that people were expecting what was the other uh there's a movie that came out and uh I mean I saw it I don't know anyone else on this podcast has seen it yet I saw I've got tickets to go and see it in six weeks I wondered if Dan I wondered if you'd watched it cuz you said you were going to and then you didn't say anything so I wondered if you were just holding back on that I watched it we're talking about you know what Dune I'm never going back to the movies again from what I have heard from what I have heard is it has

my favorite scene in the movie it does the only scene I know I couldn't help but think of you during scene literally I literally smiled when when that when that scene happened yeah it's not even a spoiler it's just it's just a scene that happens in the movie listeners don't yeah you know not going to ruin anything no and for listeners who don't know what we're talking about Luke has only read the first page of the book so he he only knows that one scene but he's read it several times because he's he knows he he knows he will like June if he just reads past get past that first page uh I really like this okay yeah yeah me too I really liked it I did the opposite of watching it at home I went

and saw it in on the biggest screen that was available to me in the state which was the IM projected onto the moon yeah and uh I mean this film warranted it I think [ __ ] hell oh I can imagine Yeah Yeah couple of couple of shots in particular I'm thinking I would have been just glorious yeah yeah there a lot of uh lot of long shots of just spaceships doing stuff that I was like this is [ __ ] great I mean we can come back to this but the production design and the cinematography and this this this movie is pure Cinema it is the amalgam of a great story which we knew already coupled with great cinematography great set and costume

design great music and and and just a a really seasoned director helming it and and bringing it all together this is just this is a [ __ ] movie yeah but but but but the question I go back to is is that what people care about anymore I I think this is maybe like right um yeah I've put an article in here that there's been a lot of talk that that they're going to be doing the second one like well look I mean I hope so because confirmed even though I knew this was only going to be the first half of the first book I was still shocked that it ended when it did I know I know and then I knew it was coming too because there's a character says something that it's not a spoiler someone someone says a line that's kind of like we're wrapping up here that's a story for another time

yeah exactly kind of thing and then and I was like oh [ __ ] is this where they're finishing off and then it was like directed by new villain I was like oh [ __ ] off so so it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger it just just oh when it's starting to just ramp up to get that little bit more that's when you I want more it's not a happy movie I guess is and and it never really there isn't an ending the car one character says to the other let's let's go and then the credits roll like cuz what the what I'm sort of relating it back to is remember Capra yes you watch the entire thing and then it gets to the last episode it goes on the next season it's exactly these amazing stuff that's starting to go there's a bit of that drag you in more

and then there's oh yeah it's been literally that because there's a lot of like they show you something something happens and then and like the characters are watching it and then we're like they're like oh that's a thing and it's like next time on do there's literally a thing like that no I look I it comes out December here it's two months away I couldn't do it I figured [ __ ] it I got the the Sony braier it's 4K I've got good speakers but it's not the way that but honestly I don't feel like my experience was compromised I know I had I had a so I I don't know cuz I hate the I've ranted on this podcast I hate the C experience now people are [ __ ] in the in the cinema now and I I'm happy to just watch it at home actually now is sort of the best

time to go to the cinema because no one's going you have to book your seats and so you're you're you've got sort of a gap around you now yeah this was particularly good cuz right so IMAX uh I've the the the theaters here not are not too crash hot like the theaters in Sydney are much like nicer and more comfortable than the the general theaters around here but the IMAX in Providence it's got like kind of like couchy kind of seats I was like I had to book the seat and I had yeah like you said I had gaps to the side of me everyone was polite cuz I guess you had to pay extra to go like like the you know the people who are going to sit there and [ __ ] around on their phones aren't paying to see this in that format so so that factor was was good as well

and even at the end when the credits rolled you know like this is the kind of movie where if you've got The Right audience the credits come up and everyone just kind of sits there processes for a little bit and then one person was giving a little clap and then everyone else started giving a CL off yeah and then everyone started CL and I was like Ah that's so nice I haven't experienced that in a long time too I like that yeah great that's great yeah what I love about this too is that George Lucas was obviously incredibly influenced by this book when he made Star Wars but then Star Wars informs this version of the retelling like vill is obviously a Star Wars fan this is like Star Wars for adults I know and it's got stuff to like

the story of Dune has things that are almost uh cliche these days M but you have to remember that some of this stuff was invented by Frank Herbert for June so like when when you watch this and you go oh that they're doing that so well he invented that yeah they are doing that that's where that from there were there were a few things that I look desert planets yeah that's right yeah yeah the book is called Dune it was the first time what if there was a whole planet Dune as well one bio a lot of the soap opera in the book was removed which I I thought was was good they need to yeah they just got to it there were some nice things about the book that that were removed um it'd be

interesting to know if they actually filmed it maybe there a longer cut that they could do much like to have Lord possibly but I also think there were some things this doesn't give anything away Matt the scene where Paul sees um a gardener watering a palm tree right in the book Jessica has a huge biodome inside with vegetation and waterfalls and things to just kind of symbolize the opulence of what they have compared to what's outside in the desert you know and and so I feel they they did they did sum up that with this metaphor of this kind of row of six or so trees that were outside um instead of showing this whole whole thing so I think rather than they mentioned that it costs eight people's worth of water to keep them alive right

so it's like they're worth eight lives it's like but even little things that I was actually a little bit worried about like the ornithopters for example are famously hokey in their description I was like how are they going to look like how are you going to have a helicopter with flapping wings like a little bee [ __ ] sick um looks [ __ ] great yeah didn't bother showing any of the weird Kookie space uh space travel stuff they just don't worry about that don't worry about that Navigators in tubes and stuff they're like that you don't want to see that they're here they're just behind that door yeah yeah we expl we have to explain too much just they need the spice to travel through space moving on yeah yeah you can use to travel through space or you can use it to kind of just

kind of get extra sentience yeah Mo on don't worry about I mean maybe they'll show up in the next one but I doubt it it's not important to the plot and I think it was it was a good like it's a neat World buing thing in the book and in well and it was one of the Hosier things in the David Lynch film yeah so one of the H things [ __ ] everything let's not cram something just because it's in the book if it doesn't mean anything no it's this is made very if you've seen the David Lynch one and you're like I don't know if I want to see like a goofy Space movie this is not goofy this has all the goofy stuff is removed from this yeah see I want goofy space mov well see now I kind of want to go back and watch the David Lynch again yeah I thought that

having seen this yeah but then again David Lynch hates that movie more than any of us could possibly hate it yeah I'm sure yeah he said that's the one thing he regrets is doing that he say he won't even see this movie because he'll know it'll just make him sad about his old one the opportunity that he yeah cuz he didn't yeah he didn't want that movie to be what it is they just made him compromise and compromise and he was a young director and he thought this was his big shot at the mainstream and so he did and he said that was the worst mistake he ever made he said don't ever do that just [ __ ] he doesn't he's not M no exactly he said just do what you want you I think we waited until now to make this movie because you couldn't make it like even in the 2000s with

Sci-fi channel tried to make it it we just weren't there with special effects for this not to be cheesy and like watching this I can't imagine how I can't imagine thinking yeah one movie that'll be enough for this like yeah cuz there's soos are fine so starting to come around and being more hands off yeah yeah they're still not great at it they still do jump in oh we want to do but but they do respect or Theory a little bit from time to time especially with people wouldn't have allowed people to do it there's great stuff come out and then you see the next when the sequel when they go oh we're going to make this bigger and then they go so we'll come in and help you with this like yeah no just well here's the thing right so this is

Dune part one yeah Dune part two will be the second half of the first book which is also just a pretty standard space adventure story if they then do the sequel that is also a pretty standard space adventure story although turn it into a television series but by the third [ __ ] book the main character is a worm like how deep are they going to go into this I I can't see them doing that I can't see anyone prepared to pay money for that no I agree um I'm going to raise my hand and I think Dan kick yeah I don't we'll go see it but no one's going to pay money to have that M yeah the studio is going to be like who's the main character Somey no I'm not going I don't have a whole lot to give him but I'll I'll give him some money to do it give him what I can no

yeah it's weird with shows like this I really wish they'd maybe do them not as movies anymore and go that um I don't know I don't know because I this really seeing this was like what I love about about movies and so I think I think I might have agreed with you had I not just seen it in IMAX and you know it had been like almost like an experience I feel like Blade Runner 2049 made me feel the same and I I this is a really good gauge I guess for of you're going to like this although maybe not like you might like it anyway but if you liked bra Blade Runner 2049 you're going to like this I think it's safe to say like it's and if you didn't like the original Blade Runner you still might like Blade

Runner 2049 cuz it is a bit faster yeah that is true you might people don't like the first one is just because it is so slow but I think if this was a TV show it wouldn't have the same because they knew it was made for the big screen I think they do a lot of those long shots like again not spoilers like the shots of Paul looking at a spaceship coming up and flying offing the tires and he's just standing there looking at it like Dan knows the shot I mean you'll know when you see in the film it's not spoiler just Paul standing on a hill looking at a spaceship and it goes for like feels like it goes for 5 minutes with just the music swirling and it's just this long beautiful shot and it's like they wouldn't do that in a TV show I don't think yeah yeah um I don't

know rised by Wolves oh second season coming by the way announced today yeah I got Race by Wolves was actually quite slow in the whole episodes which just father and mother just yeah maybe doing their thing a great I think I don't think they probably would be a bit nervous about it if they were doing with Dune I think they get away with Race by Wolves cuz it's not uh it's new yeah well actually um while this was being discussed whether or not there'd be a sequel um HBO Max said we actually want to do a prequel series it's called Dune The Sisterhood so I assume this is about the Benny jzer order um and they wanted John Spates to write the series and be the showrunner um and he was like no I'd rather just write the next movie yeah

Fair yeah I want to see this finish John SP who incidentally did um the first Prometheus script oh that's okay got you the one that where it was actually an alien movie correct Prometheus I could talk about my in cinema movie moment after it so the credits come up at the end of the movie everyone just sits there starts the process and I just go what the [ __ ] was that I did not like it my first VI I did [ __ ] I love no I think the reason why I didn't like at my first viewing is I was going in thinking it was an aliens movie okay well I mean it wasn't it wasn't and it wasn't meant to be and then it was meant to be and then it kind of was and wasn't I was kind of wanting it to not be and so I think that's why I was able to

switch off a little bit Yeah cuz last I heard it was there were going to be aliens in it and like so that's why I went with the that's what it's going to be and then it wasn't and then there was a space ax and then a big ship that was rolling around about to crush her but she just had to run that way well I mean it's a big ship Luke I think I think that scene certainly failed but she wasn't looking behind her she didn't know which direction it was going to right yeah and how far did she have to run in that direction it was big ship but yeah I see your point and and ships would have axes on them so calm down the internet yeah well well remember she got that from the emergency escape pod that's been to go find the closest planet you need an axe if you're going

to CR on calm down everyone yes I think it should have been LV 421 and I think it should have been the space jockey that we've known because that would have been nice Symmetry and yes I think it should have led directly into a sequel that they never made but other than that I thought it was very good oh I did see there was an article with Ridley Scott where I thought he's so disconnected I can't remember the specifics but he was talking about how he thinks alien is a dead franchise he goes cuz I've made I made two of them and then one of them they said no you didn't put the alien in enough the second one I put the alien in it they still didn't like it and I'm like it's not the alien Ridley what the [ __ ] is wrong with you stop it he's like

you've gotten old and stupid like can't just put the the storytelling that's the difference between those two films I'm like who is this he's not the same filmmaker like who are you what are you talking about you just put the alien in it that's not what that's not the point there's definitely more life in the alien franchise the Terminator one I think they just need to let die but all or do it well that's the thing like I watched this I watched this video essay called um why the prequels are better than you deserve or something like this um about why the Star Wars prequels have all this like cool symbolism and some texted stuff and I watch it I'm like yeah you're exactly right but guess what I still don't like them yeah you know because they're not very good and it's

like you can you can point out all the Sergio Leon references and stuff that are in these and Kusa and I got those I know though I went to film I know all of this stuff don't don't tell me that I don't like them because I didn't pick up on the references I picked up on the references it was just bad storytelling yeah bad storytelling very wooden acting but I've also found inter interviews with George Lucas where he said I'm not interested in actors giving performances my movies aren't about plot they're about themes yeah and and you can't really fault him on that that's fine yeah I mean George Lucas doesn't give a [ __ ] he just he's doing what he wants you know what I'll say this though I bet George Lucas would love Dune yeah I bet he'd really like

it I hope he does well I did and uh I recommend listeners that you watch it in I recommend Luke watches it yeah in in six weeks whenever it comes out I am in six weeks yeah if you want if you're in Australia I'm sorry you have to wait to go see the movies that's that's a shame but I don't know why I have to wait 6 weeks since the cinemas are now open movies are opening this this Friday but I have to wait until December to see so I'm going to go see Shen shei this week see I haven't seen that and also has anyone seen no no time die yet no it's also not it's not out here oh well that explains that all right and unlike June it's not on the torrent so yeah okay I was holding out for June to go back to this the theater so and now I got to

figure out how I I had big the big three delayed movies for this year were no time to die and the French dispatch which I'm also very much for to yeah we were talking about the other day I think all I've got really waiting for it's like shangi now and Ghostbusters oh Ghostbusters yeah yeah for sure I want to see shangi though looks very very good I've heard great things about it yeah and he's actually coming out here soon so I just didn't want to go to the movies that's that's the problem now is that I don't think I want toi I'll watch actually when it comes to Disney plus yeah I saw free guy oh did you oh and for me they missed the mark completely I knew it yeah like it's it's it's fun the whole thing where he's an

NPC character that's sort of coming aware and teamed up but then the whole movie's got this undercurrent and sorry spoilers but no I don't care trust me I'm doing your favor the whole movie's got this sort of subplot where there's a subplot where the the girl that he's playing with actually wrote the original code for the the game and that code is trapped in the game and that proves that she wrote it and that they stole it and they've got to break into the game to get it and it's just no no not what we wanted I just want and and trying to crack down who can just in the middle of a game in the middle of a server just go oh we're going to hack this so the buildings are going to crush together to say they can't escape it's

all like yeah that's not Howers could do anything it says the Luke I feel like out of all of us Luke's usually the one was able to shutle that off and go I'm just going to enjoy a Ryan Reynolds movie and but like something about this one he's just like no I don't care if it's Ryan Reynolds I still hate it but this is really his wheelhouse you know like he can't get this wrong for lot it's like when I see hacking in like in a you know like a a very straight kind of you know movie and then they start they I'm just going to hack in and I go and it's like instantly I'm not enjoying I made a movie and there needed to be a hacking scene I got you to [ __ ] do the hacking instantly no longer enjoying this movie cuz he ruined but like a better a

subplot they could have had is they got maybe they're getting together to try and break down some trolls or something that are doing something terrible and yeah that would make more sense than trying to track down the code from the game there there's Real World characters in in this movie not just ingame characters yes ah okay all right see even that is different to what I assumed it would be yeah yeah like I knew they W going to be in World carries but I didn't think they were going to play as big a pass as they did right right yeah know so that's unfortunate cuz I've been waiting for that movie for two years yeah CU every time it was coming out it got moved back well speaking of moved back there's another movie that's been moved back enti year follow up yeah and

we actually literally we just we said last week Dan you and I they've been a bit optimistic about this that's right but not only next year it was like quite early like in May or something I think Indiana Jones 5 was we haven't said yeah and last week we were talking about it and then you and I both read the release date and went that's optimistic well they they obviously R and they went middle of filming yeah they no they were listen to this podcast and they went no no no not may this year may the year after oh [ __ ] yeah so they've deleted a year yeah 2023 so they can film way off now he's not going to be around for the premiere don't worry they're going to travel back in time and show it oh God yeah I really hope they don't do that I I I don't no they they wouldn't I

rewatched um Raiders of the Lost Arc this week because yeah I it's been a little while since I've watched it but I um hey it I I you know I wanted Harper to watch a good movie yeah and um it is should have watched some Nazis faces melt yeah that's right I was like the Nazis it's it's so good I I just can't stress enough it's it's just an absolutely Immaculate film but also the most pointless one because if he's not there same thing happens it's not about that it's not about what happens and what doesn't happen it's about him learning to believe it's about themes not plot it's about character Luke it's about character this podcast about themes and not plot don't listen don't worry about the

specific definitely not about worry about the specifics more followup so um we talked about Superman last week and a couple of changes to just bring it into the kind of 21st century and uh at least one staff member at DC is not having it and um the current colorist on the Superman comics has walked off saying that is not my Superman he wouldn't do that really far out and I'm not talking about the bisexuality either oh what are you talking about I'm talking about the change of the motto oh no that's so innocuous yeah mhm he says they have no right after 80 odd years to come in and say that Superman doesn't fight for the American way Superman is a Yankee also not

gay yeah # no homo all right okay did I have to go back to like the first episode could only be that storyline now or that's right y it's all one continuous story yep well I mean look whatever good reason so what did they change Superman no longer fights for truth justice in the American way he fights for truth justice in a better tomorrow also his bisexual but also it's not the same character this is Superman's son who has now been past the torge doing his own thing kids they do learn from their parents and then twisted that's what we were talking about well and and and all those horrible thoughts that this colorist is having Superman AKA Superman's dad Superman also has those thoughts so you guys can go well that's not how I do it you can go hang

out with old man Superman and and complain about the kids right so baby get your son to now start coloring it for us your son will do a great job yeah I'm not going to read the comics anyway just to be clear so when you said color it for oh it's not for me for the Superman fans but I'm so not a Superman fan no but I also no no they can no I mean I I like Superman but I just don't like Superman comics yeah I mean I like Superman comics when I was like 10 I like the 70 Superman movies and that's it I just think it's so Biz like but like I mean maybe I don't know how how old and stuck in his ways this guy is but like these are stories for a young generation right the Young Generation right

like you can't hold on to this [ __ ] 1930s theme right they don't don't why isn't he fighting the Japanese they disagree with you about a lot of that stuff mate like what yeah that's right yeah times have changed yeah and him fighting for everyone is a bad thing also and I know we are guilty of this from time to time too but it's a comic book you can't take it too seriously right it's a comic book for kids settle down we take things seriously but we know we're doing it and and we to laugh a lot of the time like I'm not you know we get fired up about Star Wars I we've had arguments on this podcast about [ __ ] Batman movies that that went way further than real arguments with real world consequence and then and then all sat

down and had a beer and we're like the [ __ ] were we thinking when we got mad each other on our podcast about a [ __ ] Batman movie like yeah legit mad yeah yeah no but that's we just love this stuff and I get it I get it this guy is American and he wants Superman to fight for him but Superman still fights for him he just also fights means for fighting for anyone else Luke and it means turning people to the American way just tell him that and he'll be fine might if they've changed it means he thinks maybe some other way is a bit better sometimes and that's just not acceptable yeah he's not F need to be specific for the [ __ ] Middle Eastern way is he is he see well he's not fighting for any way he's fighting for a

better tomorrow that's true and if a better tomorrow is is Soviet communism so be it you know his better tomorrow might be flying around the earth killing a lot of people and going it's all America now it's it'sot robot he's like you know what would be better if the humans just [ __ ] off I'll bring all the kryptonians here better tomorrow yep mhm not a whole lot of kryptonians left are there I don't know they depends which era you read yeah that's for a planet that blew up there's a lot of [ __ ] hanging around yeah s like oh we don't have a bad guy um yeah it's just another Kryptonite we found and he's arrived on the planet and they're going to fight look in in easy go to it's like Babylon 5 they always used to have Raiders so if they had to

have people go off the station for something but wasn't the whole thing for the plot was getting them off the station but not so they weren't there at the time it was they're off of attacking Raiders that reminds me of firefly what would the what would the reavers re fa reavers reavers I thought re reamers no might be confusing mess effect remur [ __ ] it's the [Laughter] remur I just realized that is literally [ __ ] Jos Sweden speaking of Jos Weeden we've got some Jos Sweden followup now but isn't the thing that the reavers literally rape you to death isn't that they will rape you to death eat your flesh and wear your skin

if you're lucky that order see the signs there yeah well no everything I recently I recently went back and I watched do house oh that's a great show I like a great show but it's got a really dark meeting when you think about how just came up with it this now you know what he was like and yeah it's a bit more creepy now I agree it's a great show I enjoyed it I especially like the two episodes of like 10 years in the future and not just because FL should so good I Al like the episode where and I forget all the characters names but where they switch they switch personalities around so actors are playing different characters and I I clever performances

in that uh and I I mean it was yeah it was a good vehicle for some of those actors because you're literally playing a different character every week but then stuff like that yeah where they have to perform like another actor on that show's performance is just impressive yeah and what that show got really really right is the the the Divide between having an episodic storyline with a baddy of the week and an adventure of the week and an overarching storyline as well yeah you know well I think he just brought that over from Buffy well yeah progressed it but I think he really honed here because he got it yeah he worked on that and then brought it into literally D was playing a different

character each week but also herself see that's one of these things it means someone who wants to watch all of them and have that there it's great someone who just might just be sitting down to watch it they don't have to really catch up that's on a full story it's just I watched this episode and I'm done I've got to say though Luke you you probably disagree with me because I know you you like to wait a week before you watch the next episode of things I have gotten really used to binge watching shows and the three shows that are out at the moment that I want to watch um which are Foundation Lost Symbol and succession season 3 are all week to week and I've got to wait till November and December to see all of them it depends on the show cuz there's a show just came

out Netflix on season 2 um another life so it's got Starbuck oh apparently that show is [ __ ] awful I enjoyed it but all right here's where I enjoyed it in a way that I could have just been watch two seasons in a weekend right right and there'll be times where I focus more on the game and drop out and then I I'm just going to pick up from where I stopped and yeah it's not something where you need to watch everything but it's still enjoyable and I wish we had more space shows like that mhm we don't have many good even mediocre science fiction shows to be clear I haven't seen that show I just heard that it was awful so maybe I'll check it out anyway I don't mind it it's it's good in some places and then it's terrible in others it's all like watching and they go oh

we're just going to stop that plot story line now okay what is the Prem someone said that oh I'm not sure exactly I just all I I sort of thing that said that they um it's got really bad science in it and they also just kind of it's inconsistent and they just make [ __ ] up to make a plot Point happen and it's very frustrating so if you just skip that like yeah okay so the plot point is aliens come to Earth okay and they find out they've come from from some star system way over there and so they build a ship and they're sending people out there to make first contact with the aliens because they're not their ship that landed isn't communicating with them and then it's just H Jing insures okay all right and the tone of it is it is it kind of of Comedy okay so it's but

not Battle Star Galactica dark no no right I yeah I I enjoyed it I actually thinking about watching it again oh okay um the music I found is very odd you know really in way I think the music misses the tone of the show oh interesting but yeah no I watch two seasons I'm hoping they get a third one because I don't know it shows like that are fun that's fair you can just Chuck on and watch and it's fair yeah check out that's why I'm looking forward to awful season 3 I I do want to check that out yeah Family Guy in space yeah yeah exactly watch I want to talk about only murders in the building because I know Dan you're waiting for the finale the finale is out you can watch the okay it's

really worth your time all right I actually feel sorry for uh Selma Gomez or whatever her name SEL Gomez yeah the character she had to date Justin Bieber and she's a lovely girl she's great in this no yeah only murders in the building is wonderful it's it really funny it's very clever like it's are they hour long episodes or half hours like half hour about 40 they hover around 30 40 minutes yeah it's they're over quickly it's one of those shows where you go [ __ ] it's end but it's very clever it's a murder mystery it's got a good mystery it's got twists and turns where you think you know you you think you've worked it out the next thing happens and with with having a child Quay and I have about a about a 30 minute crossover you both

interact with each other where we can both watch tevision so this might be a good one to to put on that time no it's really good it's really funny like laugh out loud funny is hilarious oh really yeah yeah like he's just he's just a great actor it's just it's him yeah there just that see he's not spoiler you know he walks in and it's the stunt double and he goes he he he goes we need to talk about look Charles I don't know what you've had done but it's it's too much it's too much too much like plastic surgery he's great then I think you will enjoy it y i I might start tomorrow that sounds good Disney plus right lots of cameos too Disney plus is it okay good yeah people pop up and you go oh look that person's in this have they

announced a season two yet yeah oh it's doing game Busters for sure they're doing a season two yes oh well you never know I think it'll be fine and it's well no this this is Disney cuz yeah it's Netflix that you never know no I mean again not spoilers but it does set itself up for another season like if they if if they wanted to they could certainly do one there's always another season but you could also it could just end there and that be yes that's true yeah yeah it could it wouldn't be the greatest ending ever but it's been a lot worse speaking of ending there and that being it I kind of felt Mythic Quest wrapped itself up quite nicely I did to as much as I love that show and it it did start to go off the rails a little bit at the end of

season 2 little bit towards the end I sort of started to lose interest cuz it just started I don't know what it was it just one or two great episodes especially the backstory of uh y but uh also some stuff I didn't really care about taking center stage and and and then of course they they kind of wrapped did I could sort of understand that hey we do want to go back and maybe like there's still money to be made here another season I don't understand the signing of two new season new seas that seems I wonder if season 2 was made during Co so I wonder if they I mean cuz he's not a dummy Rob melini so I wonder if he he and and the the riding team realized all right we've got to we've got season two we got to do this but we know it's not you know it is getting a

bit stale and so they kind of did flip the table a bit at the end there so maybe he does have good ideas for how to continue now he's obviously sold apple on two new seasons now so they've got they must have some idea that he's although sometimes it's just you want to sign him up so you don't lose them to someone else I mean that's true actually yeah he's a he's a good catch for a for a streaming service Rob mine yeah especially Apple sort of being so new and wanting to focus on new stuff so it could be one of those things like hey he really wants to make this we'll sign you up for this but also can you think of something new for us as well yeah one of those sort of side deals so I mean I kind of spoilers but I mean it's been more than two weeks so remember the

rules one week for television show two weeks for movie so Poppy and and uh iron I love they've left Mythic Quest so it's not even going to be Mythic Quest anymore in theory they're going to go make a new game unless it is and it's just not about them that would be [ __ ] weird but and I have to tie back into it but I mean that would then also mean it would be a whole new thing which could also be great so I guess that might be what it needs and the best episodes weren't about them either really correct to be honest mind you the worst ones were about the testers and I really hope they don't go down that road because it seemed I they paying a lot of attention to those characters yeah yeah they were but they weren't actually showing like real testing or anything it

wasn't what l wants to watch that just them that wasn't people testing that was people playing a game he just wants to watch them [ __ ] sit there and play this fictional video game and go I found a bug hang on let me see if I can reproduce that and then just do the same thing over and over and over yeah if I hold shift and G and jump in this corner here I I can get through the wall yeah I want to see that coming they weren't testers they were people who played the game yeah I know that's what that's what people dream of being a a video game tester that's what people think it is it's not the reality of unrealistic expectations that's fair but I'll watch it guys I wanted to mention I wanted to mention one thing that I did this week um I went I went

hunting for betet Midler oh with a gun I heard she was in town you trying to hunt murder B mid uh I don't don't think that's quite what I said Luke uh so I think it was yeah look on this one in fact I also saw a Snapchat of you doing a slow drive past her house uh I don't I'm not sure she lives there Dan uh well she was there at the time she was there she certainly was because we couldn't get in but uh I watched Hocus Pocus we mentioned that I watched Hocus Pocus the other week guys back in two seconds yeah take care of that Jesus you're not L not even supposed to be walking I hope that came out on the tape on the tape how [ __ ] old am I you guys are recording those on [ __ ] I hope the vacuum tube picked up those

noises mhm mhm should I wait for him to come back what are we doing no I just keep I don't know okay well I mentioned I watched Hocus Pocus I went to uh we well we went to Salem on uh Friday and we went to the Pioneer Village saw that love Salem yeah so the Pioneer Village for listeners don't know is where they shot the opening of the original Hocus Pocus the stuff that was set in uh the 1600s in Salem because the Pioneer Village in Salem is a little fake 1600 Village and so they have a nighta on there so I went there so that's the set of the first film technically speaking and then they're filming in the second film in Rhode Island right now and they've

rebuilt that on a farm basically they've built a a Salem 1960s 1960s 1600s Village on a farm and uh apparently you can go there and have a look around except you can't go there not when they're filming yeah when they're literally filming there uh that apparently it's not not possible they don't let you who knew yeah well but I did try I did try sorry I had to run away my cats for fighting sounded brutal yeah are they all right the little one start [ __ ] and they can't back it off right right and the big one gets carried away that's kind of what happens with my cats too and then the little one gets upset he's so mean to me you so breaking my heart with the little

village that they built did they build it for this cuz I also remember they built like a a village for the Fe streat stuff as well I was wondering if they maybe just reused it cuz that would it's Salem they might keep all of these well no no so the the the the Salem Village is always there it's like a kind of a tour almost a tourist attraction and and like that that night market that we went to is they didn't do it last year cuz of Co but I think that's going to be an annual thing and that's on in this little Piney Village the one that's here in Rhode Island is the where they're filming right now and I think I think I think it it maybe they're going to leave it there but I think it's supposed to be temporary they just built it on a farm up kind of a bit north and uh and

they're filming there so but I'm going to try and go back at a point when they're not actively filming and uh have a walk around take some photos CU other people have been doing that so yeah that sounds interesting this is a film not a series just a follow film I think it's yeah hus Pocus too I've never seen Hocus Pocus maybe I should maybe should I don't have a Halloween party this year to go to so maybe I'll watch it on honestly I was I I enjoyed it I was surprised I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it so H okay interesting yeah I think at the time it came out we just were just at that wrong age for it yeah I thought it was a kids movie it is but it's one that it's got enough stuff in there for an adult to have a bit of we're at the age now where we can

appreciate family films that's what it is when we were 20 and it came out we're like don't give a [ __ ] about this right I've got something to recommend to you Matt all right if you if you happen to like TV series about serial killers maybe yeah maybe I'm just kidding [ __ ] love him Dan I love him this is this is called the serpent it's on Netflix it's scripted drama it's not docu series scripted drama about a serial killer named Charles Sage who is a French Indian h xat living in Bangkok in the' 70s murdering

Backpackers yeah and it's pretty good I really enjo's in there all right she was in Doctor Who I like her oh yeah yeah bit of Jen Coleman in there absolutely and a whole bunch of really International actors because it's everyone's from somewhere so if you watch a lot of foreign films you'll be like oh that's a person from that French that's a person from that Asian film like it's just a lot of it's a great cast and great production designed to recreate the 70s one thing though the lead character is performed by an actor that I really really love called air Raman right who is a french alerian actor right but he's playing an Indian character now I don't have any problem with that per se but they've used makeup

to make him appear more Indian if you know what I'm mean yeah yeah I think I do interesting but as someone who is already a little bit ethnic that's okay is it okay for someone who's a bit Brown they got mad about that we talked about this one of the Marvel actresses I think um is that what I'm thinking Lovecraft country oh that's that's it that's it yeah yeah yeah you're right super mad when they darkened actors in Lovecraft country yeah but uh this one is an Alger actor darkened to look like an Indian yeah right Luke how do you feel about that Luke you you befriended an Algerian French alerian waiter when we were in Paris if you recall maybe try and say big words he did that guy was [ __ ] charged us for the be yeah that's

right yeah he was a cheeky we were pretty hammered by that point oh yeah why did he pick on me you know why you why cuz he looked around and he said this guy definitely doesn't speak French this guy can't speak English so yeah Luke you're dodging the question is Brown face okay if it's on someone who's a bit Brown to begin with we are not the ones who get to decide that well apparently Netflix Netflix said it's absolutely fine and I've not found a single person online who has a problem with this which just surprises me um a lot of people comment oh here's obviously a wig watch it to the end it is a wig right yeah so shut up um people wear wigs all the time correct I think I think Dan's in playing

that's a plot point I mean it's not a plot point but it's just like it's a character Point yeah he's wearing wig the character is wearing a wig yes correct yeah the actor's not wearing a bad wig the character wears wigs right that's why they're obviously wigs it's not because the [ __ ] production were just like any better than this yeah [ __ ] how do they do it on other movies yeah go to the just get get a bunch of boot polish all right this sounds interesting I think I'll I'll it is it's it's quite yeah it's not kind of dark and Gothic like you expect some serial killer movies to be it's it's not like that it's got its own kind of tone but it is it is a and it's got the parallel story of the the investigations and the crimes

um jumps all around in time I highly recommend all right uh speaking of well not murder I don't I don't there's no evidence to suggest these people were murdered but uh they did find a mass grave uh nearby that I wanted to I mean that implies some kind of Foul Play doesn't it doesn't it yeah or it depends it depends when it's from apparently there are thousands of people uh underneath uh a highway near me and also there's also an unmarked Mass grave nearby uh containing hundreds of bodies and both discoveries have been linked to State institution cemeteries so uh sick poor mentally ill people buried in the uh where it's if they

disappear in the 1875 and 1953 so this is not like I mean I mean not a serial killer but I mean this is the government's put them there kind of thing yeah this is terrible people doing stuff to people in need potentially like they have been in an Institute and just died and so they've just popped them in a yeah when you talking thousands though yeah I mean like a thousands over that period of time is a hell of a lot that's it's a couple of people yeah and then so apparently these people some of these people were buried in a cemetery like a state institution cemetery and then they got dug up and moved moved they wanted to land yes and then they built a highway over where they moved them to so did they just move the stones or did they move the bodies

cuz I've seen that go horribly wrong just going to say it's so I now know where the most haunted section of Highway in my area is and I'll report back yeah I wouldn't drive on there and if I do hold your breath stuff but I don't want to take chances I definitely have on there many times so um Dan I probably drove you on there yeah took him for a quick ride what's what's wrong with that nothing it's going to show you a hole that I've dug in I've shown a bunch of people and you're next yeah oh who are we kidding I ain't digging a hole I got a hole to show you you know in movies most obvious joke and I was like don't do it Matt don't do it and you know that Trope in movies where like the villain like makes the

hero dig their own grave I just be like yeah no I'm clearly digging the grave so that you're going to kill me and put me in just kill me now but the thing is there is still that chance that maybe I could still get out of this that's why you're complying for them it's I can threaten them if they don't do it I'll just shoot them and I didn't have to dig but this way hopefully they've done more I'm going to threaten you cuz I I bet that you not going to do the [ __ ] digging so I'm just going to like theic there is Maybe if I dig my own grave he won't kill me because you'll think he's nice he's dug his own grave I asked him to if I so how this is going to go of this yeah that's what I mean you're just helping out that'd be like him going hold the gun and point it

at your head I'm like yeah all right look honestly if you're digging the grave there's more of a chance of someone coming to rescue you you're buying time sure sure sure sure yeah that's all it is you think you dig real slow ah sorry may have never dug a grave before yeah I'm terrible at it a lot of clay down here lot of clay I'm digging sideways look at me [ __ ] all left I was like that parable about that would you would you rather be killed by a single stab or a thousand tiny cuts and like you're supposed you're supposed to say a single stab because it would be quicker and put you out a bit you're like well I could Escape during the Thousand tiny cuts at some point like that's right well that's not the question the question is you got this
