John Madden Deadpool: Betty White Dies & Sony Snubs 2016 Ghostbusters

[Music] welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy I'm a little pissed off to start the year okay I'm part of a Deadpool where each year we have to pick the first person who's going to die for the year M ah this year I picked someone who I didn't want to die but thought their time was coming and you were going to make sure they died Betty White [ __ ] died on the 31st of December and doesn't count I think that was probably her biggest regret as she was dying was that she let you down she like just hold out till midnight so that Luke gets the Deadpool also they did film that TV

special about me me reaching 100 so that that probably cost a lot of money I should probably try and no here I go I'm gone so they're going to have to redo that the titles at least surely right the [Laughter] oh they're going to air it right that's what they said cuz like [ __ ] it we already did it it's it's like when I went to the North Pole to film a a TV special and then we couldn't get to the actual North Pole the 90° North so they changed the name of it to the 89° North and it's like I mean close pretty close so you so you've not been to the North Pole then I've not technically been at the North Pole have to CL yours yep no it kills me it kills me that I

got so close I know cuz when you going to go back stand on there exactly yeah yeah you know what annoys me and I mean I can easily still do this but I've I never went to New Zealand yeah I've never been to New Zealand either but it'll be a big deal for you to go there now don't bother no but like it's so and people go how have you been to New Zealand I'm like no didn't bother lived there for years never bothered I haven't been to South Australia new zealanders are going to hate this um it's just a small version of Australia all right well farewell to all New Zealand listeners there is one thing I definitely don't like about New Zealand but we'll talk about book of Bubba ped later

okay so Betty White sadly has passed we're going to get geek of the week out of the way early yeah we just start the year with geek of the week I got a couple handful of candidates for you before we do that before we do that I should just apologize to the listeners we didn't tell anyone we were going to take a break and I know that because told each other yeah and I know that because people asked me what was going on and I said we're taking a break for the holidays well I must admit cuz I knew we were taking a break but on Thursday I still was refreshing my feed cuz I usually [ __ ] I really can't remember what I said I really try I Tred to time walking my dog on Thursday mornings with when the feed comes out

and I was like what no Charlie stand by mate we got I've got to wait for this yeah I've got to listen to myself cuz I'm a Nast record one yeah I just got to make sure I don't have to make any apologies yeah that is a concern for me generally I don't have that problem no cuz you don't you just cuz you're a sociopath [Laughter] so we got we got Betty White uh obviously I mean need we say more I think everyone's going to know 99.9 most famous for Golden Girls I would say right is anything she was already old dead but she'd had a career that spared years decades say most people probably don't even remember golden go she's just famous for being a famous old lady yeah she's she's the

famous old lady from the Snickers commercials yeah Snickers like gold girls were sort of old when we were young as well like we were watching reruns it wasn't also the oldest woman was the youngest cast member so [ __ ] weird is that true yeah cuz you know there were four old women and then one of their moms and one the woman who played the mum was younger than the rest of them no wow cuz I think I think the Golden Girls were meant to be in their 50s right which is actually not that old well say that now as as three guys back back where we saw looking at 50 on the horizon actually that was very funny I used to watch that it it was very well

written sure what was Sam Harris's mom I think is that right I think I think she was involved in the oh I'm adding someone else speaking of someone's Mom I'm adding someone else to the geek of the week that I forgot about okay but yeah obviously she was I mean Betty White yeah long career well famous even before Golden Girls Just I think she's most known for that I think it's quite obvious why she's a candidate another person I think is probably quite obvious uh is John Madden I'd be surprised if any of our listeners don't know who John Madden is although they might not know about the actual John Madden well although they probably know about the actual John Madden but they probably don't remember why he was or I

know him as the guy who whose name is on the football games right I don't know him as as I I don't know what he did before I assume he was a football player he was a football player and then became a commentator okay and then became a game developer well he sort of did well he's a programmer yeah I don't think he ever developed a game had something to do with it and he accepted a check every year no I think he came in he fixed a few bugs closed a few tickets I'm sure he did wall around the office but he's died uh he did die did he die of Co did any of these people on the list of Co I don't think so I we not are we not using the c

word any of these [ __ ] die of I think Betty White's people made it very clear that she did not they tried they actually came out and they said there were like they saw one post on the internet and they were like just to be she [ __ ] didn't yeah she's just [ __ ] old when you're 99 you don't have to have a cause of death right yeah it's precarious um I don't know about the [ __ ] Herald overdose um another person we've got a bunch I guess cuz we haven't done an episode in like a month uh Anne Rice died this was this was last early December is Anne Rice died uh althor of The Vampire Diaries very vampire di chronic stop you there The Vampire Diaries yeah influencer of the vamp she invented

vampires didn't she she did back in the uh back in medieval times yeah she did yeah y yeah uh not a vampire clearly so time will tell Matt yeah time will tell if she releases another book this year yeah yeah well when was the last time you read an an rice book or even paid attention to when books came out from her she um even in the vampire Chronicles I must admit I've been ignoring them 20 years now she famously wrote The Vampire Chronicles uh which in later books dealt directly with certain religious aspects that made it clear that she was not a fan of of say God or Christians in general then she became a born- again Christian and uh came out and said that all of her work was trash and that no one should read it h and

then she then was a born again atheist after that and said actually my books are good here's some more of them do you think it had something to do with the fact that uh she realized that she gets checks from that and she kept collecting the checks after saying don't read it she hypocrite I've seen her house in New Orleans and I think she was fine I think she was well fine yeah but think a rates on that yeah probably true lot of security cameras on that house oh yeah she doesn't she doesn't want to see she wasn't she doesn't want visitors no no cuz it's a beautiful old you know new orleansyoutube right scenario where you're like that kind of ruins the look a bit is there any point in trying to be an author now I know what you me authors that money

yeah I think about this all the time no at this point no but all the authors that sort of will make money and quite rich and well looked after are all like from 30 years ago they had books coming at least probably a lot longer I mean jking is the big is probably the most and still that's like 30 years he's doing all right I think you can yeah yeah but new Authors I think it's tougher than ever I think it's tougher than ever and I think about this well competition's tough same with musicians but that's the thing right cuz sometimes you read these Classics and you're like if there were more books written this year then this would not be a classic like sure you know like there was just there were just far fewer authors writing far fewer books I think it's

probably like that with most creative works right video games same thing right there's just so many now music uh film stuff you got YouTube you got it's just so so much competition even it's funny though with music though cuz you get this Cruis that a lot of like popular music starting to sound the same it's because the popular music has been written by the same like handful of people yes that's right that just go you sing this one you sing this one you sing that one and that's why that's sort of all the same it's just sort of this this handful of people that have been doing it for years instead of deciding what's popular YouTube is interesting because I would rather like you know there's a handful of you know the films that Define us and all these kind of and you

know what was that Netflix show about the video games retro video games and stuff I don't watch any of those right even though that interests me greatly because I would rather go to YouTube and watch some amateur dude just sit in his bedroom and tell me about that stuff cuz I know he's going to connect with me far more than some Polish Netflix documentary CU he actually cares about it instead of uh there's a guy who does he he's doing retrospectives of all the Witcher games like one two and and three is on the way and they're like six hours long oh God and I love them yeah God that first game was a strange game well that's why the the the first game his his retrospective is great because it it first of all I mean I don't have to play the game again right

but he summarizes that the ending of the game is it's actually pretty great the story and everything but it doesn't hold your hand in any way so he he kind of goes through it all but like if you weren't paying attention you'd probably miss it all and you'd be like that was weird well I remember when I was we were living together and I was kind to give that a go and you were like Dan maybe just skip to the second one maybe just play that well it's tough and then it should skip to the third one because the the it's clunky to play the first one I mean it's great but it the gam play is clunky the story is but you also you have to pay so much attention and read things cuz you need to work out how to kill monsters you need to work out which oil there's a lot of reading you need to

do first yeah well I mean in resar for a game that's what like 20 years old now at the end of the game you kind of do a Time shift and you end up in this like frozen land and there's this guy there and it turns out the guy that you fight at the end is the kid that you've been looking after throughout the whole game but he never tells you that you only only know because when he dies at the end of you kill him he happens to have like a necklace on that if you vaguely remember someone gave that to the kid earlier on in the game like it's just nothing is spelled out like such a long game as well exactly yeah you really just have to pay attention that reminds me and just looping back to [ __ ] about video games I watch on YouTube I watch this great video essay on um just how

dark the ending of Double Dragon is if you really think about it oh yeah fight each other yeah because that's but the thing is right Dave always used to talk about how him and his brother used to go up and just put money in Double Dragon every day at the arcade to try to get to the end of it and never could and then one day they were on an absolute role they got to the very end and then had to fight each other spawny won and Dave walked home crying right I always thought about that but I never really thought about the fact that in game two brothers have gone on this epic [ __ ] quest to rescue one of them's girlfriend finally do then kill each other now the girl will go with whomever survives right who

wi right so either the guy who rescued his girlfriend then murders his own brother who helped him and then goes off with the girl for no reason or the guy who helped his brother find the girl then murders his brother and gets with the girl either way it's [ __ ] dark that's weird yeah but I can imagine some nerd in like the the 80s being like women water a [ __ ] yeah this probably happened yeah um except they were probably Japanese yeah but I yeah didn't want to do the voice Matt no I'm kidding don't do the voice no of course not well I'll take this opportunity to just add a fourth Contender geek of the week to geek of the week right um Michael Nesmith died this week do you know who that is no okay simply he was one of the

monkeys right oh okay one of the monkeys um mhm incredibly talented reran musician right MH also the guy whose idea it was to start MTV cuz he was after the monkeys finished he was like you know what would be great a TV channel that was just music videos cuz for our younger listeners that's what MTV used to be yeah yeah um and the reason I remembered this is because you were talking about um Sam Harris's mom Michael Nas's mom was the inventor of Liquid Paper all right yeah do you know I have not used Liquid Paper in a long time and I have not heard about Liquid Paper in a long time right which sounds like an old thing to say except they use it all the time in forged in

fire oh to coat um billets of Steel when they're going to when they're going to forge things and so like they're always using Liquid Paper and I keep thinking [ __ ] so that's what people use Liquid Paper for these days wow yeah I guess because nobody uses typewriters exactly which was original no writes anything with a pen anymore yeah Pap you'd know one of his songs he wrote Different Drum which was made Popular by the um the stone ponies Linda ronstan um but his version of it is much more country cuz that's his style but he passed away great guy there you go read his book very interesting guy did you read his book Luke no did you read any of for him then yeah I tried to read one of her books which one could have get

into it did you interview a vampire okay yeah no no that was one of the greats not not by far not not the best even in that series though I must say no I like Meck the devil to be honest me the devil is absolutely great tale of the body Thief is no that's Queen of the Damned me the devil is number five well sorry sto after that yeah you were right too you were right weird Side characters that had no right getting their own books got their own books after that right yeah I think I think the next one after that was Armand and I was like ah I'm good David Talbert got his own book eventually the just the dude who was hanging out with him not a vampire look I think the only one I'm going to be able to give he's going to

pick probably he's just Betty White look you can't give it to Betty White she's dead oh I see what you're saying my bad I bet the title of geek at a week well sorry I'm just reading here I I think she took her own life so I don't think she qualifies you heard her here first she intentionally got so old that her body couldn't sustain her no it's it's it's Prett white we yeah I you know whated I'm sorry I knew I knew he was going to do that do you play the Madden games yeah yeah I play them I don't enjoy them but there's achievements to be had never played you using John for his achievements yep well he's not unlocked achievement geek of the week no he has not Michael nesm was sort of close really on what

basis may I ask look going on to have the idea for like MTV and stuff like that okay all right all right I was I wasn't sure if you had a pre-existing familiarity with him something but he didn't eat Snickers bars with Mr T so in the end that's what did him in and that's where he went from for all we know for all we know he might have Betty White geek of the week surprising nobody I'm sure yeah I'm still upset with [Music] her you should have you should have resolved few more hours see now you'll always regret it it's like one of those songs about how it's too late now when they're gone mhm oh Luke please write a song please write a song about white about and have every verse be about just how much you wanted her to

hold on to life and then only in the very last verse you because you lost a bet look guys it's been a couple of weeks as Matt said we never told anyone we're going on Christmas Hiatus but we did um a lot has happened a lot of movies have come out a lot of TV shows have come out a lot of celebrities have done weird stuff I mean we've got so much to talk about I don't even know where to start I've seen one in the movies go on let's talk about that I saw Ghostbusters afterlife I saw that too but I saw it this morning got released in austral I've got about 20 minutes to go so hold on don't no spoilers but we can talk about than 20 minutes of it okay well what I can say is look it's

definitely a family movie okay I really liked it liked it I really like it hon my daughter doesn't give a [ __ ] what she's watching as long as well she likes that's a nice way of saying it's for kids and it is it's it's a it's for kids yeah but that's fine but it' be a good movie to sit down and watch if like you grew up watching Ghostbusters and you had about 10 year olds or around that age sit and watch perfect because I was trying to figure out who the target audience for this cuz kids don't give a [ __ ] about Ghostbusters right that don't give a [ __ ] about this Fran last however people our age in their 40s who watched in the ' 80s and who now have kids do so I think you're exactly right yes yeah that's we exactly the Target and and please finish watching at last 20

minutes I got a little Tory I love this movie I think this is so Charming it's not look it it goes to prove that Ghostbusters itself was just a flash in a pan man like I mean this this could have been not Ghostbusters this could have been not Ghostbusters and they just clicked find and replace and and changed the name to ghost it could have just been its own movie but it's made in the style of the 80s I I would have loved this as a kid great 80s style Adventure movie 80s style music like musical SC that sounds like John Williams off Cuts like it's just it made me really happy to watch maybe I'll I'll see maybe we watch it tonight I'll see we got the final episode of something I'm going to talk about in a bit to go but but I would like I'd really do want

to watch this yeah it took me a long time to be able to watch it because I just kept pushing the release Dat Back in Australia but well it also didn't end up on a Pirate Bay until this week so I had to wait as well I'm not going to the [ __ ] movies everyone here has Co and it's so weird 2 years in we've been panicking about Co I didn't know anyone with Co now everyone I know has it and I'm not leaving the house movies are coming out on streaming stuff but that's slowing right so we we got that for a bit and now they've slowed C are reopening Spider-Man proved that people still go to the movies and spend a billion dollars yeah so I I haven't seen Spider-Man I know Luke you've seen that right um not I haven't

seen Spider-Man yet I think what I think the reason why that started slow down is all the actors were going no we want that theater money yeah well James Bond also proved that it could make good money at the theaters as well oh that's true yeah yeah but I think you have to be a big tent pole I am like no one's Brave in Co to go and see some indie movie no I wouldn't think so I do it there's very few movies I I'll go cem myself well last one I saw was Dune and I mean I don't regret it but uh I mean I'm not going to go I don't think I'm going to go see anything else in the near future um on on Ghostbusters news while we're talking about it they put out a uh a DVD

box set DVD to to go oh sorry a box set sorry showing my age um they put out a box set including you know Ghostbusters after it's got Ghostbusters Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbusters afterlife yep three official Ghostbusters movies well I don't think because those three in the same universe and a story I know but the only reason this was interesting to me is just because let's be honest that's not why that is not why it's because they know that all the Fanboys who would go out and buy this box set would not buy it if there was also a bunch of women on the cover not because they're sexist but because they [ __ ] hated that movie but then Paul

Fe director of the the girl Ghostbusters movie tweeted and I was I'm like it's just so cringy why M he tweeted uh Sony Pictures I know this must be a mistake we do have a lot of fans and bill Dan and Ernie were in it and it won the Kids Choice Award for best feature film when it came out so I guess this was just an oversight it's like oh but there's already a box set with that one in it so it's fine I know but like don't that's embarrassing embarass because if you buy the box set you now get a digital download uh if you want to watch PR yeah good yeah great a physical box made a [ __ ] movie shut up yeah it's just so embarrassing even Dan arroy came out after it was like what is this [ __ ] and his [ __ ] meter is

incredibly low I know and saying oh they were in it that doesn't mean anything people have been in films and then been like oh [ __ ] like that was a mistake like I'm sure they don't intend to make bad movies when like big name actors are in some like Matt Damon with the Great Wall remember that came out he like [ __ ] hell yeah I shouldn't have done that yeah yeah but look the thing is people who come out even if the movie is successful and go look I don't know why I was part of that yeah terella Guinness not a fan of Star Wars well it depends on which interview you hear from him yeah uh Paul Paul Paul F Paul figy whoever that is um I don't like any of his movies I don't think he's very good

I don't either and I didn't like the cast I cringy to do I'll also go out an Olympia and say I don't like Ghostbusters too I mean I haven't seen it in a long time and I didn't like it at the time when it when I loved Ghostbusters and it was my favorite film and when Ghostbusters 2 were coming I ate up all the pre-released merch I bought the trading cards I and then when I saw the film fin saw the film I was like oh [ __ ] this is Ghostbusters too this is not good you don't like we oh God this is Ghostbusters 2 that we deserved Ghostbusters afterlife is the Ghostbusters sequel we deserved after Ghostbusters one so you you're thinking canonically we should just watch

Ghostbusters Ghostbusters afterlife from now on absolutely work absolutely right okay I guess I got fact actually make one a little part of it make a little bit more sense if you just forget tw's there oh interesting okay yeah well I a lot of it and I don't know if you're talking about something I haven't seen at the end but I think a few things throughout it would make more sense if it was the New York incident then nothing then this yes and then this yep all right I got to watch it um I know for a fact that Dan and I have watched another sequel to another well-known franchise Luke have you watched The Matrix resurrections yet I played the the game thing that came out at the same time as a hey look at this

um that started off so good mhm with like K sort of walk around talking and at one stage I didn't know it was if it was actually him or a computer generated version of him and then the sort of experience started on I just done installed it but that's the closest I got to watching thex started with a bit of potential and you thought maybe it was going to be good and then it wasn't and then it just really really wasn't yeah yeah that's interesting I guess that's the theme they're going for that's their ammo okay Matrix resurrections is interesting but so can we just say spoilers cuz I I need to know I mean sure yeah all right yeah it's been weeks it's been weeks and also watch if you want to so and all the spoilers are at the start the spoilers

would be for what the premise actually is is not for anything does care about the sequels it's just like a matrix 2 essentially no no no no no no no no this is a direct sequel to Matrix Revolutions as the last one right I would go as far as saying it's that but also it ignores all matrixes except for the matrixes that exist in the real world that we live in and was an attempt to be some meta criticism of how the Hollywood System treat The Matrix films and how the audience have interpreted the Legacy throughout these years and if they'd leaned into that a little more it could have been interesting but they kind of tread that line between it being that metac criticism and it trying to be the action Blockbuster that the original Matrix was and failing at both to the

point where I've seen people on YouTube trying to justify why it was [ __ ] on purpose yeah and that's the point of it yeah I mean look and that might be true it wouldn't surprise me if she did it on purpose because the I mean it it itself tells you right Warner Brothers were going to make this movie regardless of whether anybody wanted this is a line from the film Warner Brothers were going to do this with or without us Warner Brothers are going to make a sequel to The Matrix with or without us a character tells this to Keanu Reeves because the Matrix exists in this movie as in The Matrix the the movies exist in the movie but they're a video game instead it's like oh what or Thomas Anderson is the dev of the Matrix

trilogy brackets video game series so so he's not the Neo from the movies okay so massive massive spoilers I guess right so okay so I'm just going to tell you the the plot and why it way yes okay skip ahead 5 10 minutes you don't want to hear no no no the plot's not that complex skip ahead 2 minutes no okay so you know you know how he died right he in Trinity died in in the third I don't even remember that in the very foret Matrix 3 they both di yeah and then a program called The Calling himself now the analyst was like yeah but there was something interesting about them let's bring them back to life so he developed teic dust to to rebuild them the the literally the physical literally the

physical human bodies of of Neo and Trinity Reb resurrected resurrected them and then put them back in the Matrix without memory of they still have memory but they they they trick them into thinking it's they they basically he thinks the events of the Matrix that he remembers were like a dream that he made a video game out of the reason being they think there's some kind of special connection between Neo and Trinity that when they're close to each other in The Matrix they produce more literal energy output and like basically all the batteries produce better yeah they produ all the humans in The Matrix produce more juice for the sex leads to more energy that's no sex no sex they they don't interact near

each other so it's which is good because that sex scene between the two of them in the second movie was really gross and I just didn't want to see it um so this is basically NE but then it's got a whole bunch of one Neo and Trinity combined are the one yes that's right which is I guess the the kind of trans yeah and you you also could argue that from from the first from the first film You could argue that he always needed her to reach his full potential and Mis interpretation no it's not done very well at all it's it's terrible in it's and my biggest things the biggest things annoy me about it is right okay so Morpheus is there and he's a different character a different actor and because they do they do give an

explanation for it but why why is he even there yeah yeah they put him in there if you're bringing everyone else back why not why why is he there they cuz they they at some point I think they said oh they um the machines put people that Neo knew back in there but he never interacted with Neo at all until the events of this movie which they didn't intend for him to this movie I think what it was was didn't didn't Thomas Anderson write himself a little kind of back door by maintaining morpheus's memories there so that if and when he ever needed him there was someone to kind of Mentor him again oh so you think okay so Neo put Morpheus in there yeah but still like why Lawrence Fishburn said like he would

have been happy to go back and do it much more and the other one and I think they tried from what I've read is the other one agent Smith is still in this but it's it's a new actor and it's Jonathan gr and he's great however yeah the whole impact the whole impact is removed because it should have been Hugo weaving because now they're colleagues they work together and having partner in the game company yeah and having them just interact like they don't know that they had epic battles would have been quite good watch and that is what happens except you except there a different actor so you don't have the impact and they don't establish for certain that it is Smith until after that's happened but if it was hug they wouldn't need to exactly yeah it would

have just been them on their [ __ ] lunch break talking in the you know in the officers and you'd be like but he literally do they not know they enemies so agent Smith right calls Neo into his office and says War to Brothers is going to make a sequel to The Matrix with or without us yeah so I feel like we should do it because otherwise do a good job whatever they do is going to be worse than whatever [ __ ] we come up with and it's basically like okay yeah and then it cuts it cuts to a to a montage of writers and developers pitching each other ideas of what the sequel should be and they're like oh should I definitely have of time what if it's a matrix within a matrix and all of that stuff is being all the stuff that everybody was like that's what this movie is going to

be these people in this movie are like oh it should be this should be this and then should be that literally going oh [ __ ] yeah now so interesting all the stuff Matt has just explained is in the first 15 or so minutes of the movie right yeah and and this is still the interesting part it's still got potential at this part and in fact the movie opens with the exact way that the Matrix the original Matrix opened shot for shot but with different actors and there's another character there watching what's happening you know Trinity's getting the cops coming in she's running across the roof and stuff and then Trinity gets captured and killed and she goes and and at this point I'm thinking this could be interesting you know this

is the Matrix we know but from another point of view maybe there were multiple matrixes maybe not everything work out the way okay no forget it forget all of that it's something else and then by about halfway it's the plot is literally just okay they got they got Neo out of the new Matrix and they just have to get Trinity out and the plot of the movie becomes we have to get Trinity out of the new Matrix and that's all it is for the rest of the movie yeah until the end when when the the end of the movie which is actually quite clever where Neo and Trinity now together flying around and they're like we're going to make this place great and then the the analyst played by um uh what's his name Patrick is like people don't want this new [ __ ] this new meta [ __ ] people want what I

was giving them they want them people just want to watch The Matrix again you should have just made the Matrix again no one's going to like this blah blah blah like he basically has his speech at the end of the movie and he was right yeah right and actually I detested his character I thought he was just Che the scenery the whole time and very but it's all like that it's got to be intentional yeah yeah but still but it doesn't make it good also just just because it's done on purp The Matrix makes zero sense like even the first movie great on its own but makes zero sense why are the machines spending all this money or not money but all this energy creating this whole thing for these people to use them as batteries look at geother go up

outside the atmosphere go to solar like there's many ways you don't need these humans just wipe them out move there are some interesting themes touched on in this because the humans now have some machines that are on their side and and there this kind of premise that far either though no after the war that we saw in Matrix 3 some of the machines started turning against other machines and started realizing no you're abusing the humans actually this is wrong and all this stuff that might have been a good movie seen yeah and they certainly touched on it in in the animat Trix there was some kind of touching on that theme as well um largely ignored they're not making anymore this was just a thing and it's just like cuz it didn't make any money no I love it that they've come out now

and like no plans for anymore and like no one's giving you the money for more made don't do this [ __ ] just make what could have been good if they had have done this and this was sort of the hey this is not quite a joke but hey this is just the but they also made like a second movie or a television series in the background and then it went on and touched on expanding on um those plot points I felt like like I'm watching this movie and it's like Lana Wow's bringing me along on this ride and and and she's like what about this and I'm like oh that's interesting and she's like yeah come on let's go no no no let's go back to that no okay the next thing oh that's kind of interesting how about know keep going keep moving it's it's another great example of

Hollywood learning the wrong lesson you know and not understanding what was great because what was great about the Matrix when there was just one movie called The Matrix was that you could watch it on a purely cinematic level and just enjoy the action the great special effects the great fight scenes and keano just being cool and not paying attention to anything else and you could just absorb that movie and get 100% satisfaction out of it you watch it again and again or you watch it as a slightly more intellectual way you get layers and layers and layers and you enjoy it works on so many levels this makes no sense and none of the action or special effects are any good oh the that that's the that's the biggest let down is honestly and I know it I

mean because it's the Matrix it does matter right the action scenes were just garbage yeah none of the fights I felt like when you watch The Matrix and particularly it's it's very obvious because it literally shows clips from the Matrix in this movie and so I was constantly reminded how inferior this movie is than the the than the first one because it's showing me the first one it's like remember how good this was you you're watching this instead and then but like in the mat watching a matrix fan film when they're fighting right it's fight scenes yeah okay it's schlock but every punch is like I feel like they planned all the shots around it like every punch is shot specifically to Showcase all the moves all the fights everything this was just like all right

let's just get coverage these people fighting we'll shoot it with a couple of cameras and we'll just kind of edit it together yeah bring the stunt doubles in and then we'll just get keo's face as opposed to let's put keano into intensive Kung Fu training for a year before we film let's bring in Yin Wu ping the greatest stunt choreographer that Hong Kong has ever produced and let's just let the fight out single T maybe they planned all this but they just went the actors was went I can't be bothered doing it all that this time can do it he does do it but he's getting cuz remember I'm not doing it for this I'm not million movie yeah maybe I got to do John Wick which I like I'm not inj myself for this [ __ ] I mean he wouldn't

even cut the John Wick hair no that's right he just looks like John Wick he doesn't even have the neon neon or was that him trying to be like a like a what what he thinks a dirty developer dirty person he's like can we talk about that bizarre scene where the maravian shows up and just starts yelling [ __ ] but he's never in a shot with anybody else and I swear to God he didn't he wasn't even on set with them they just filmed him somewhere else yelling weird [ __ ] and like cut back to him it's so weird yeah and it didn't have any bearing on it's irrelevant bizarre truly bizarre and like at first I started like okay maybe maybe I'll read into it I'm sure there's a lot going on here and then I realized

I'm sure there is but I don't care I just don't like this movie it's not awful I just don't like it it's just not very good and there people people like it like it's I it's not yeah that's the problem is it's not bad it's just not anything for me it just really didn't land at all yeah so strange like the choices they made and I just don't understand and in the end there there's it ends with them flying off together and then it's the same Rage Against the Machine song that the first film ends with but it's covered by a girl by a band with a female singer and it's like okay but that's a little odd yeah like I see I see what you're saying Lana I see what you're saying yeah I do too but it's just I don't know just a bit odd

yeah I'm annoyed we've talked about it so don't go see is what I'm hearing from certainly don't pay to see it to the movies yeah I mean if you're doing your ironing pop it on yeah mhm except like the first Matrix and just enjoy that yeah exactly cuz I wouldn't even watch the third Matrix it just made me want to watch The Matrix again honestly yeah it just reminded me what a I've already really ever seen the first and the second one I don't think I even I've seen the third one completely thir one is awful for a different reason so I'm just going to go back to just pretending there's the Matrix I feel like this is a this is a result of I maybe um Lily wowski was the one who said the brains well not the brains but the but

the like we've got to at least exactly right because they made the first one right and it was it was a great success oh this's this great great apparently I'm um [ __ ] Jonathan Ross there's this great quote from uh Quinton Tarantino who saw it opening night in LA and he said that it was amazing because all these people had showed up to watch The Matrix uh and it wasn't the trailers so much as the TV spots the the what is the Matrix TV spots right and everybody was like the [ __ ] is this you mean back in the day yeah back in 1999 right everyone was hyped as [ __ ] but no one knew a goddamn thing about the movie other than just like like they didn't know what it was and then he said to to turn up and then everybody's all hyped and then to get

that movie doesn't happen very often and I think that's just why this is such a disappointment is because it never and then when they made the sequels they clearly weren't happy with the fact that so many people focused on the shooting and the fights and the less cerebral stuff so they were like well we're just going to lean into the cerebral stuff but I feel like you're right like Lily was the filter that kept well we've got to we've still got to appease everybody it's still got to be a good movie whereas this one that's gone and it's just well even from what it's sort of saying like they start to touch stuff and so it sort of like have all these good ideas but then not flesh them out yeah not continue it just we got this idea and now we're going to

talk about this part well you haven't finished about this like you've skipped where that was going yeah yeah maybe if it was a series they could have done that but on the other hand it wasn't done very well so I probably wouldn't have watched it speaking of series that I'm not going to watch anymore of oh no I've watched two episodes of book of Boba Fett the first one I didn't enjoy I watched the second episode turned it off halfway through forced myself to go back it didn't even finish it didn't second forced myself to go back and watch the second episode to the end and it got worse I think the problem is with this it's two separate stories and the one I'm sort of half interested in gets 5 minutes of air time in the second episode and then yeah I would agree with

that but I'm half interested in that story too and not a lot of that makes sense to me and I just don't like the the style and the tone of it it just doesn't feel like Star Wars to me and no no offense to to the actor who plays Boba Fett but he's just I do I need to offend him a little bit it's just not I need to offend him a little bit feel free go on um so um on the timeline of when this is made yes he would be his character should be a little under 30 well there's no evidence of that in the films unfortunately no there is though because he was he was the Clone he was the Clone okay and he would have been about five or six years old when Han and when Luke and Leo were born okay now Luke and L this is

directly after returning to jro which is about 20 years all right you've got me there okay yep okay and we've got this 50y old man well hold on the the one story is set there we don't know how much time has passed for the next part of the story they're not Aging True they're not aging him up or down so he's just the same but I just don't I don't feel his Charisma and he does have a a certain Charisma that carries very well in other films once were warriors amazing but he his particular Charisma is completely miscast as Boba Fett look I think the problem is and this is the problem I think they've got with Star Wars when they go and touch on characters that we sort of know and we've built up what they are and then

they go well this is now what this character is and this is now Canon that makes it hard to us to engage with that which is why Mandalorian worked so well cuz it's a new character didn't know they they based it on some tropes we already appreciated but it's a completely new character and it worked really well this like honestly guys you [ __ ] the Bob how do you [ __ ] Boba Fett well because the thing is like I didn't even like the episodes where they Fett into into the Mandalorian like it they they came in he did some like some yeah he beats people up it looked cool but to me it wasn't Boba fit like I also think that was one of the worst episodes of Mandalorian actually I think if we go back I think you remember liking Boba Fett I'll tell

you I mean did we I don't like saying this but that episode and this series Robert Rodriguez I know and the thing is this feels very Robert Rodriguez and when Robert Rodriguez had only made two or three films he was one of the greatest filmmakers in the world but sure he has made so many films now and most of them are garbage I like Alita which is the most recent one of his that I've scene I liked that did you watch all seven Shark Boy movies oh no no look I only watched the first episode of of Bubba Fett and I I didn't dislike it as much as it seems like you guys did but I mean it was the second episode is yeah okay I got to watch that still I did not like what what I found really underwhelming and I

think is a misstep is just how easily he got out of that [ __ ] salac cuz yeah doesn't everyone quite a lot yeah ex undermines undermines quite a lot about Return of the Jedi and that whole thing the fact that he just and also like why was he next to a stormtrooper there was no Stormtrooper in that battle I think it would been cool if it was maybe someone else who fell yeah no no I think that I assume it's because people have been falling into this pit for thousands of years yeah but that's [ __ ] stupid I didn't even think of that you're right cuz he was half to is it going to be someone who's fell in last week or anything it's going to be going to be the other guys yeah he made it worse it's going to be shoe but then it like it still doesn't

really explain like like how did he get he just [ __ ] dug himself up out of the desert floor Luke like Anyway in the books the way he actually got out like he used his jetpack and sort of blasted his way out and use his flamethrower like there was I forget exactly how but he did fight his way out and then was picked up by another Bounty Hunter uh DGA oh and they sort of nursed him back to health and then he went on and became Bob a Fett that I know uh the one you went to school with yeah that's right Bob a Fett the who became the Mandalore yes the leader of the Mandalorian not happening uh well maybe it will the wish I wish I'd stopped halfway through that second episode as I originally intended and I hadn't watched it to the end

because there was a choreographed dance sequence at the end of that second episode that I it's Akin only to the choreograph dance sequence in another thing that I will not rewatch which is Rise of Skywalker and I just don't I I just don't understand the tone of this I don't understand the decisions being made here no and there's two very different shows with very different tones you got one where they don't talk and then you got another one where there's this power struggle for who's going to take over yeah I've got questions I got questions for you Luke about both of those things one they don't talk he learns sign language and speaks it to them but you never see them using sign language to each other so what the [ __ ] where did he pick that [ __ ] up

from okay the other thing that annoys me is about the female heart oh yeah specifically yeah what annoys you about it there's there's no sort of male and female Hut a Hut will turn from male female to give birth and then will turn back to male not in the films there isn't not in the film I've not seen that happen in a Star Wars movie thank God I also don't quite understand think happened I don't how did you know that one of them was a girl that have like a bra on they say my sister and she's got a fan it's almost like a Pac-Man and Mrs Pac-Man kind of vibe going oh [ __ ] um I don't even understand why Boba Fett feels he has any legitimate claim

to the Huts yeah and again because he killed bi for tuna okay fair enough but if you if all you have to do is is kill the Shogun and then you become the Shogun why isn't princess layer the Shogun because she's the one who actually killed Bob you actually look Bob Fett actually oh no he said he killed bib he killed bi for Fortuna yeah cuz he well I think he just took power but yeah it's s like but why does he feel he has any right he doesn't does heal organization he's not acting like a usurper he's acting like someone with a legitimate claim to that Throne yeah right and the way that they're making it out is jaut was just on there just going around collecting collecting stuff from no he

was running a criminal Empire that's just where base of operations was he had other stuff going on with smuggling and all this other stuff it wasn't just stuff happening on T correct he's got none of those contacts or any of that in fact can we stop putting things on Tata way please because they say explicitly in the first movie that Tata is a random Planet you know if there was a center to the universe this is a planet farthest from it like it was luck that that's where the Escape pod jettison that pure chance no there's so much going on on this [ __ ] planet this is like anyway well it's not even you got to remember it's not just because of where that escaped pod Jon it's because of where they they had to go get their

hyperspace Strife repaired yes that's right we got to go to episode one shut up shut up but can I talk about uh a show that is very good and I know you guys have not watched this yet I've been watching witches season 2 oh yeah I've got one episode left it's [ __ ] fantastic it's I think I'm going to have to try it again I started it but just didn't grab me to begin with the the whole show or just season two just just whicher two the season two I don't know man the first episode that first episode felt like it's one of my favorite stories from the book so I'm sort of biased but it reminded me of the Storyteller you know that old Jim Hensen C like show but love story

Dark As [ __ ] Storyteller was quite dark for a kid show right well well well this is this is darker I assure you oh great okay it's it's this it's like the Beauty and the Beast story but with all the you know Disney shine scrubbed off it and it's just like yeah um and the rest of is [ __ ] great it's fantastic is it all out yet or not yet yeah yeah yeah yeah it just I just put all out once oh fabulous that's just a I'll do that this is this is a Netflix pure Netflix we should just release it all yeah I'll do that when I finished Hawkeye and it I just I can't believe how little faith I had in Henry caval with like remember when they announced Henry caval and we were like Henry Cav TV actor inil I told told you he's a TV actor keep him there keep him away from

movies he's [ __ ] I think they are keeping him away from movies I think he has been written out of the DC Universe oh okay is this still the DC Universe we can talk about DC a little in a little while there's some DC news for sure well we might be coming I am going to give it another try cuz I did love the first season I think it's just I maybe was just not in the right mindset to pay attention but there's one character I just very dark that's very dark the the first episode one character you like who was in that trying to remember yeah no not in the first episode but he s of plays a major part in it is who's that the B no no no he's fine I

he needs to come back and be his normal character I'm missing him he'll be back he'll be back keep watching um it's um for me oh the Knight that his name oh vesmir vessir I don't know he's just throwing me off for some reason I don't think he's a good casting he's all right he's not the best actor I think I think he's I think we should have gone with what the internet was asking for and have Mar that's why you're annoyed yeah okay the guy who plays best me yeah I see what you mean he um yeah he's not he's not certainly not my favorite actor in the series but you know he's fine but yeah I think I was just in the wrong mindset he annoyed me and I went I'm not going to watch and I'll come back later and then went much BBA

fit and now you've come crawling back anyway this show is [ __ ] great I highly recommend it also if you haven't watched Always Sunny season 15 we don't have to talk about too much go watch Always Sunny season 15 one of the best fantastic it's one of the best fantastic like in terms of no Filler episodes I mean there's there's there's one or two that might be slightly less interesting than the others but it it's so it's so solid just funny as hell and commentary wise quite sharp as well in oh a number of places wow yeah solid it comments it it comments on itself in a way that Lana wowski can only have a dream of doing

but it also comments on like kind of modern you know W culture going in the world in a really interesting way the characters really do do what they because it does touch on the pandemic and the characters do really do what they would have done like theis goes I don't have Co fine it and there are [ __ ] consequences yes [ __ ] Dennis in that castle maning him and D are asleep and and she can just hear him talking he's like but does it have to be tonight she's like are you talking to me he's like I'm talking to the castle shut the [ __ ] up up I'm talking to the castle that also uh happens to be the Castle's preference for how this all goes

down so [ __ ] is a [ __ ] genius so funny fantastic yeah that episode that episode where I don't want to I mean spoilers for Always Sunny sounds so strange but that episode with the meatballs in the soup is oh it's a d get stuck in a bog that's the name of the episode or yeah so funny I think I might have to watch that again yeah I I I literally had to watch it again because I couldn't stop thinking about it I was laughing to myself thinking about it I watched the second episode through twice almost straight away um the Leal weapon episode yeah so

funny so good oh that's got so many jokes in it just like [ __ ] um uh what's his name the the war machine um oh John she Don cheel jokes and and all just all sorts of stuff oh just so much going on so good yeah I haven't watched Hawkeye yet you guys said hawkey is very good but I'm only halfway through I should watch so unless it gets really [ __ ] somehow it's excellent no I I'm really enjoying the television series that they're coming out with I've enjoyed all of them I enjoyed all of them too although I I have said and I stand by it I thought um One Division fell apart at the end but I thought it was very strong up until then and the Agnes thing I was just like come on guys one division sort

of fell apart when it sort of had to really tie itself back into no this is real world when it lost the television which it had to do yeah it did have to but I think they they they dropped the ball I think up until then the one thing I really like about that is is at the end of that it was uh no she's still criminal and we're still going after her yeah yeah and and she'll come up and something else and it'll be interesting and yeah I think she's going to be in the new Doctor Strange [ __ ] everyone's going to be in the new Doctor Strange yeah Doctor Strange ties together now I think so isn't it doesn't I mean I haven't seen the new Spider-Man but I think I think it all leads into it I mean Doctor Strange is in shuni you know what I mean like he's ties everything he

did we talk about no we did talk about shangi yes [ __ ] great movie great movie yeah I watched that again [ __ ] awesome yeah more of that yeah yes Hawkeye is excellent I like the tone of it um and the story I think it's great the characters are great it's got that exact right combination of humor and and seriousness that the Marvel films just do so well that DC just do not know how to do mhm like so many scenes I'm watching it and I'm like I can see how DC would do this and it would be so [ __ ] and it works so and it's the same stuff it's the same we're talking about [ __ ] Space Magic and monsters and all this you know fantasy stuff that you shouldn't be able to sound serious and poignant but they do they try too hard yeah or whatever it is but this works so

well love it love it well what is the next DC one uh oh God there's there like is there something in the universe or is they going back to to their stand alone or no no no cuz flash flash with um yeah starring that that guy who strangles women yeah that I still do not understand why they did not just have the The Flash from the television show cuz they're the same character anyway like they play well I think DC draw quite a solid line between their TV shows because do but then the character that they've got is sort of very much the same sort of style like haven't changed that up too much right so it might as well just be the same guy yeah [Music] yeah but yeah so there The Flash which is meant to be they're doing like the

whole flasho thing which I think is how they're getting rid of a lot of characters and replacing them they're doing an in universe that fle an in Universe reset essentially they're getting rid of cuzz they want to keep gal good up because yeah cuz she's great woman yeah I agree no one's complaining about her um they're going to they're going to redact um Wonder Woman 1984 from Cannon really yes yeah how can they not it doesn't make any [ __ ] I haven't even seen it I I know it doesn't make any [ __ ] sense she says it didn't make any sense at the time just going to be a little she tells Bruce Wayne 100 years ago I walked away from Humanity oh except for the 80s except for the came

backas and I made sure to get rid of them I was in love with this man 100 years ago thanks for finding his photo I mean I saw him 15 years ago and he hung out for a whole week it wasn't really him it wasn't really him though I just used some other guy's body for sex yeah I raped a man repeatedly for one week yeah well that's pretty much what it is isn't it but I mean come on luk ad if you if you he was fine with it if he known about it he would have been fine with it if you were unconscious just for a week and then when you woke up somebody like dude G has been raping you for a week you'd be like cool no she hasn't it was absolutely consensual yeah I've retrospectively given her consent yeah I don't think and I was and I was I was not missing I was there and

I I we yes and I remember it which is why I feel that I can tell this story again and again to everyone be mentioning that this has happened a lot no see for me even jokingly that wouldn't be a great way for that to happen cuz you don't get to remember it yeah it happened to you you wake up someone tells you about it yeah so here's what I think's going to happen not not with not with the date rap but with DCU with me and gal yeah with you and gal going to be Wonder Woman yeah Wonder Woman will remain untouched uh her story line will remain untouched other than nothing happened in 1984 yeah uh then talk about 198 bat Fleck is gone Superman is gone yep Batman cuz as we discussed Henry's should stick in the TV now yeah

Batman will be Katon from the Burton verse as an old man does seem like that and he will be the mentor character kind of the Tony Stark glue that holds everything together and Batgirl and Supergirl are going to be the Batman and Superman that existed is in the Batgirl movie they've just announced the cast and he's in there okay so if this is the case I think they're doing the the problem that they had at the very start of this all is they rushing to the end so rushing to get their Universe they just like they're just pivoting like you know why it's cuz they wanted they want to do another Justice League that'll be the new Justice League which is why not [ __ ] Justice League the of it yeah that's right cuz that'll be that'll be gone too you know that that that'll not

be Cannon At All by the time by the time flash point is over look how many movies did it take for for Marvel to get to Avengers yeah they want to do it in like three yeah yeah they're throwing spaghetti at the wall man that's the that's the motto over at DC and can I just say very quickly before we move into the afterparty I was so excited for the Batman and I still am but I'm slightly less excited after the last trailer I think they should have just stuck to the trailer that was out that everyone loved the bat and the cat trailer is that the one you suddenly this looks like the other Batman movies I've seen and not a completely new take now this just looks like okay this is all the other Batman

movies then is it that's what I actually thought from the sort of start does look like it's just the last Batman Trilogy just a little darker they just dim the lights a bit more yeah give him a Trans Am instead of a tank yeah oh the car is cool no question but uh look I'm still disappointed there was no Batman movie with Ben Affleck like a standalone Batman movie I think that could have been great and if they benle went like I'll direct and I'll do this only if it's good and then it's just not happened so I'm happy that yeah absolutely give a [ __ ] well cuz what he was going to write a staring it yeah and then he went no I'm just going to write it and it's just I'm just going to be in it and then he's just not

mention so much meddling you think something like that would be a dream job and it I mean it's clearly just not yeah yeah no for any of these people I mean look at I mean even even like you know Star Wars or any of these big franchises what a nightmare it must be yeah yeah well I think it's also a way that we the audiences consume stuff now like if you look at what's happening with cowboy Bop yeah oh yeah oh yeah we didn't talk about that the live action live action just came out about that very quickly they came out and went cancelled because it got bad reviews but the thing is people consume stuff a lot differently now and I don't they've got to stop these snap decisions cuz now there's like uh they've got like 100,000 signatures

to try and get season 2 and it's some of these shows you need to let them sit there for a little while and let them find find Their audience and sometimes these shows do take one or two there's too much but they also they sabotaged that show in other ways too because the they they didn't they said we're changing it a bit right because it's an anime right and Anime is yeah have a particular style and a and you know the the the characters aren't necessar in particular you know the female character in that the way she dresses and the way she is in the show that's you can't there's no humans that that look that way and it's not it's going to look move like that it's going to look weird right but they didn't say that they just said you're a

bunch of [ __ ] losers looking at tits forget it it's not real and it's like you didn't have to do it like that like you you put off a large portion of the audience that might have just gotten over it you know and I think they the audience sort of did w okay but like but they already canceled it they already canel it they cancel it very quickly but I think this is the problem with Netflix with a lot of this stuff is cuz they they want to know right away cuz they release everything at once it doesn't have time for people to start for it to find its audience for people to get used to it for it to so they cancel it before it's actually become popular or people with these show I found that I watched it twice and I enjoyed

it the first time I was yeah I've never really watched the anime this is really me second and I watched it again for some reason and I went no I I enjoy this yeah it's like stuff like um I mean look at Blade Runner right Blade Runner when it came out no one liked it right yeah but over time it built up an audience big enough that they made a [ __ ] sequel like sometimes you just got to be patient and yeah making a decision within 2 weeks of it coming out yeah yeah bit no you're right yeah numbs AR good enough cancel it [ __ ] there was a big backlash but again as I said I think they brought a lot of that on themselves with their attitude is that they they leaned too heavily into the [ __ ] you nerds kind of thing and piss people off

I'm a big fan of that though [ __ ] nerds well fans are the worst sometimes it doesn't work though clearly fans are the worst cancel the show on the basis of the people you just hold the [ __ ] off [ __ ] off like what are you doing like if Ryan Johnson had come out beforehand and said [ __ ] off don't watch it then and then no one watched it and then they like what do you know I would have loved that I would have loved that yeah he would have done us all a favor but that's another one not Ryan Johnson but we're talking about how Affleck [ __ ] hates Batman now like I was reading this interview with Gareth Edwards gare Edwards Gareth Evans which one's the [ __ ] Edwards the the Rogue guy yeah Edwards we know who you mean yeah yeah not not

the MP from Australia in the '90s um but he was oh would you do another Star Wars he's like [ __ ] no now this is a guy who like went to Tunisia for his 21st you know what I mean cuz he just loved Star Wars lifelong Star Wars fan got to make one got fired from it and I was like [ __ ] Star Wars hate Star Wars I bet yeah sad I give it a go still love to see a Star Wars movie that Luke made be amazing written directed by and starring well yeah definitely be starring me make sure of that may not be starring but I'd definitely be you like look I'll do it but only if I can be it and Disney's like wait a minute hang on you came to

us you know that uh cuz I I'll still I still stand by I I quite like force awakens right I know it gets a lot of [ __ ] I know people have decided it's no good now because they didn't like Last Jedi or rise of Skywalker so now so now everyone says the whole it's his it's JJ's fault heu a fun movie at the time I still enjoy it yeah same exactly um yeah but that trailer for it was was excellent the one that hardly gave anything away the teaser trailer that first came out was just on the desert and then um Finn just pops his head up yeah I want to see that but it's Luke he just pops up you know what I mean it's just like and then BBA B just Luke rolling on the ground yeah yeah yeah it's still just this orange
