S**t Ring: Elden Ring, Star Trek 4 & Ivan Reitman Tribute

I am calling [ __ ] on the reviews for a game that come out this week I wanted to ask you about this because from what I'm hearing I really need to play this game uh stunning is how I've heard it uh how would you describe it one word to describe Elden ring [ __ ] welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy all right you said one word no no that's great that no that that gives us a great intro so [ __ ] Rings is that could be the name of this episode um like if you like Dark Souls I don't know if I like Dark Souls you're

gonna love this game okay if you're like me who despises Dark Souls and doesn't understand why people play it you're not going to like this game so you you've purchased this game I purchased this game CU it's got achievements presumably that you want yes well I I need them and I I cuz I saw the reviews that I've gone okay so it's quite high and that led me to think it was going to be a little bit different than Dark Souls that it might be or you forgot people love Dark Souls or that it might be like star was the fall order where I could like throw it down onto story I was going to ask you that I was can't do that all right there no you cannot there is no there is this is how you play the game so so I haven't really played Dark Souls much

only like a little bit at the start and then I I mostly I know from you telling me that I won't like it that I won't like it can you describe to me what it is and what the problem with it is if if you don't okay I could explain by using stols the fall in order okay cuz that sto some stuff where it's you go through you kill things you level up but if you die you lose all that experience and then you can either go back collect the experience or the whole thing about Dark Souls is it's you constantly die yeah I have seen that as a meme like even even it just like it just like trolls you with like instant death in sections and then and then you know not to do that next time is that accurate and I've even read some things like it's oh if you go to an area

and you die well then just go off and explore another part of the game for a few hours level up and come back sure but it's not very clear about where you where I should and shouldn't be going long do I have to level up yeah that's kind of interesting though but yeah I see what you mean so if I'm level say if I'm level let's make this up level five right and I've and I'm like 90% of the way to level six but I die y I just go back to base level five with no experience yep okay you can go back to where you died and collect your experience oh that's the other thing you can collect the experience which is great but then you need to go and rest at fires to level up so you could have like enough points to level up two times

but if you die you you lose it all so there's no point in trying to save up and hold on to experience un runes as they call it unless you're a sadist sorry s and there and there are those people out there there are people who have completed every single Dark Souls game not getting hit once what yeah there's a person out there who played through Dark Souls 1 2 and three and did a no hit run so played through all three of them his first time trying it got to like Dark Souls 3 got hit when he sort of wasn't paying attention and then went back to the start of Dark Souls 1 and started all over again what there are people like that they're part of the speedrunning community czy a lot of people like that that is

ridiculous there there are very special people out there that can do that H yeah those they called unemployed people although I suppose if you were doing that people would watch on stream but I wouldn't I mean after the first time he' be well I'm going to go back to the start well I'm not going to watch watch anymore am I let no cuz I've already seen that part I'll come back with three yeah tweet when you get to the bit you just died out and I'll I'll start watching again yeah yeah look all I can tell people is think about buying sorry just you don't drop levels okay all right you always you'll never drop a level to what you are but also it's not very when you go up a level it's not just I'll go up a level you got to decide which where you

going to use your points so in strengths Vitality intelligence M okay so if you're not if you're like me who doesn't really pay much attention sure I think as long as I know these things I I'd be fine I didn't know that about Jedi fall in order at first and it confused me a bit so and that's why I told you you and then like just wrong on the story because yeah I actually forgot that that was a thing uh because you had said don't worry about it just turn it off yeah because I I actually think it was a better game without that okay and even even on story it was sort of difficult difficult in some parts yeah yeah totally but yeah this look if you're thinking about buying Elder ring go play a Dark Souls Gabe decide if you like

that constant dying constantly trying to work out how to beat monsters it doesn't hold your hand if you like that then go bu Olden ring okay if you don't like that do not give them money cuz I got to say the trailers and all the the marketing materials for this make this very appealing right this game and and that's I I thought that as well that's why I actually brought it because I went okay yes I know it's made by the guys who make those hard games but maybe this is from sof not like that is it from software y from software and I maybe it's not like that maybe it's a bit more of a like just a role playing game just especially like you can ride a horse and stuff so I went yeah I'll give it a try and yeah I I wasted have you have you actually played through any

Dark Souls games no okay that that they're that annoying to you I just I don't see the point of punishing yourself achievements on the table just because you dislike these games so much I don't I don't get the idea there are games out there that the whole thing is you will die over and over and over that's not fun to me I see that make that that's makes sense except I've seen the games that you do play and they're not fun either sometimes so yeah but they're easy yeah I suppose yeah you're not getting frustrated you might get bored but you don't get frustrated yeah okay you can't watch Spies Like Us while you're playing Dark Souls exactly you got to pay attention the entire time all right and yeah so look cuz I was going to ask you should I so cuz I

looked at uh I I saw that you had said uh in in the chat our little WhatsApp group don't buy elen ring cuz cuz you knew that I was thinking about it obviously y cuz you could tell the marketing you saw the marketing and you went Matt's gonna think he should buy that and I should warn him right yep yeah so thank thank you for that and then I was going to say I I was going to ask you is there a Dark Souls game I should start with to see if I like it but you're not going to know the answer to that because you don't like any of them I I I don't know honestly probably you should maybe start with the first one probably three with okay if you got if if you got to play through all of them but no to me if you just want to see if you like the mechanics of

the game prob to new go through the newest one I would say oh cuz it's more refined yeah cuz we got to remember like the original Dark Souls was originally an Xbox 360 game yeah see that that was the other thing I was going to say I looked and there's a remaster of the original Dark Souls but that's 40 bucks and I I own the original one it was like free with game like U yeah it would been games gold or something yeah exactly so and then I'm like maybe I could play that but it might make my eyes sad so I don't know yeah look I I think I own all of them somehow I think I've tried to play the first one and just went n well luckily luckily the fact that I am now fully obsessed with cyber Punk again has made it pretty easy for me to ignore

other games so yes and I have a I have a hankering to replay I replayed um Arkham Asylum all the way through and got all the Collectibles and so I've got a hankering I think all achievements actually I have to double check this but I think I did um oh wow I've got a hankering for Arkham City and Arkham Knight to to get to those but like I said cyber punk I don't need any other games right now ruin that for you I'm doing a ninja build in cyber Punk I've decided she's going to be a ninja okay yeah she going use a sword and Jitsu and a gun she yeah has a backup yeah yeah for when I get shut up for when I get bored because you know damn well this is going to happen yeah someone will see me

I'll be like you're all [ __ ] dead now always that's how it happens like yeah like when you play sky you I got to be stealth and then some lonely guard sees you went well I have murder you all now exactly yeah because of you your friends are all going to die now we could have gotten through this peacefully but you've ruined it y by looking at me yeah totally by doing your job mhm cyber Punk looks fantastic now like I have installed it but I just haven't played it yet yeah I I I mean I know we've talked about this to death and people are probably sick of hear me talking about it but like it was already great if you have a series X or I think even Series S just yeah load it up now with the patch it's oh it's great just what a great game I have but I think I'm

going to wait for de see I need more story to get me to go back that's fair that's see now you've said that that reminds me I need to go back to uh out of Worlds I never played through that DLC and there's more DLC isn't there for that now yes so there was the yeah it was two de three that came out yeah I got to go back to that and I still need to go back and I need to finish playing that on PC as well more achievements there's more achievements just in case any listeners like why would have why would someone be so crazy but I'm playing a little bit differently on PC I'm not playing it on I've changed the difficulty in what sense so the first time the first time I played it I played through on the hardest difficulty so it

was like you can't only save at the ship there's no fast travel and all that okay for the PC version of me playing again I'm I don't care I'll fast travel I can save anywhere yeah right I'm playing cyber Punk on hard this time and so far I'm not regretting that but I haven't gotten that far into it so we'll see some some boss fights that I might might get sad about but we'll see like at the moment you're still thinking you're ninja build with some with s is a good good idea so well it's interesting actually because the game is different when you do things differently like when this is early game so it's not going to be a spoiler but when when you do the Maelstrom bit at the start you know you have to get the um the the little Droid the the Flathead the robot

from the melstrom gang yep there's a whole bunch of different ways that can play out and yeah if you kill everybody in that room when you're negotiating then you don't have to F you know he shows up in like a Mech thing later on on the way out yeah that doesn't happen cuz he's dead correct everyone's dead yeah so I only had to fight like I don't know I just stealthily killed 10 people and then walked outside and I was like oh all right then I cuz I I remember I'm like oh there was a boss sort of sort of boss fight with a a guy in a thing but no didn't happen Okay uh I will get to it again actually I'm at I'm playing leure Suit Larry the new one wet dreams never dry is that what it's called Uh no I'm playing a

sequel to that which is wet dreams dry twice that's good all right it is just as terrible as any ler [ __ ] Larry game right oh as in like content wise or you means it's not a good game oh I just make content Wise It's yeah and it's cuz it is a direct Sequel and then there are sometimes it's just like it's it's leg Larry trying to be sort of PC it's it's funny sometimes it's him learning I've had sex with two people so far we're still talking about the game yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah right all right Alo he okay cuz the I mean the very first leg suit l game which I don't recommend anybody try to play these days no but the whole point was to try and just to try and have sex with

somebody I think Peppermint Patty at the end right you end up with in the hot tub or something vaguely remember that yeah yeah I just remember the start of the game when you had to try and enter and show that you're old enough to play it yeah the remember those questions except the questions were all American yeah and based in the'80s so yeah so in the '90s when we were trying to F it yeah the president was no longer the same president so no all right oh and I've been playing uh I don't know if I talked about this the great Ace Attorney Chronicles oh yes I've been playing that on the switch I play that on my treadmill actually that's okay yeah that's a good game to play while you're you know pretending to walk somewhere yeah and that's it's

funny as well I have it I've played through one and a half of the three games mhm except I I messed up on one of the things and now I need to start the second game all over again it's quite annoying wait why how how does that happen achievements oh oh oh I I missed yeah I missed a certain way of doing something which means I can't get the achiev so I need to play through that one all over again which is yeah that put me off it hang on a minute TR sometimes put me off gangs you're blowing my mind here right are you telling me that there are multiple paths through these games I thought they were just basically linear you just had to like figure out the right stuff to click oh well yes but there are some I think

there are some sort of conversations that can change okay all right interesting but the the outcome in the person who is guilty yeah yeah is always the same that's always the same yeah we've talked about these games before if you haven't played them listeners I highly recommend you check them out um they're not I wouldn't call them legal simulators as such I'm not sure you get over the stuff for example in in the new game there's a a murder it's always a murder there's a murder that's taken place and there's a a certain female character that you believe is the culprit and there's some evidence uh on uh on a a glass bottle and in court she says can I have a look at that I'd like to see the evidence so the judge goes I don't see why not they hand her the

bottle she smashes it on the ground and then the judge is like oh my god without the evidence there's no way we can find a guilty I I do need to blow your mind though because it was actually episode four that I need to play again and the achievement I got was get the bad ending the bad ending so I need to replay through that one to get the correct ending so you can get things wrong see now I'm C so which which game is that in particular you're talking about just the very first Ace Attorney yeah so this is just Phoenix Right Ace Attorney Trilogy yeah okay and this is I think Phenix right um a atorney Justice for All see I'm going to sound like an idiot but I did not realize that you could get alternate en get it wrong yeah well not wrong right

because if you get it wrong it just you just get found guilty or the not you or well depends some sometimes it is you sometimes you sometimes it just depends on whoever they feel like accusing of murder but yeah right yeah this one there was a I don't think it's in all there was definitely this one has a good ending and a bad ending I'm going to have to look into this now I thought it was like I said I just thought it was linear and it was like you look around you find all the clues and then you go into court and you just have to find the right pick the try and pick the right order to talk about them and yeah [ __ ] eh all right I mean that's good that that is also I think it's good that that's a and it's also good that I didn't notice you know what I

mean cuz that's pretty good it gave me the illusion that I was not influencing I think I'm sure it's probably fairly rudimentary but and for the record I've played through like seven of these games now and not noticed so not notic maybe I'm the problem it' be interesting to know if you've played through them like and got different endings but just didn't notice yeah yeah all right I'm going to have to look into it cuz depending on how long you've been playing cuz I don't think the ending would be very very different it might just be you're guilty not guilty and if you're remembering something from like years ago yeah see now I'm super curious yeah because see the original Phoenix Right Ace Attorney I played on my DS and then I replay I don't know if I played any others after

that on the DS but I replayed the trilogy on my 3DS right the ace atony Trilogy and then I played two others on my 3DS I can't remember the names of them a a it doesn't matter um no and then now I'm playing the one on the switch oh wait and then there's also Apollo Justice attorne at law that I played on the DS isn't that his son or something no no it's it's not his son I think it's just his friend I don't I think it's his son I don't know it does get conf they all like it's it's it's like Star Wars it starts off insane yeah no it's definitely insane there no question that the the very first one you have a ghost coming to help you I know and they they

yeah sometimes ghosts testify cuz you get one of the if you if you can channel so it's going to listen is going to be like the [ __ ] if they've not played this one of your uh assistants I guess can channel the dead and so you can literally channel the spirits of dead people into the current witness on the witness stand and then now it's the ghost testifying [ __ ] it's [ __ ] excellent actually I think I might have to go back and play this today because I never finished it they're so fun that's and like I said I've been playing them on the treadmill and it's good because it's one of those thing cuz treadmill is boring so boring and sometimes you know there's nothing on YouTube that catches my attention so being able to just Chuck that game on because it's not you can't

I find you can't play a game where I'm moving around on the treadmill CU I end up falling off whereas this one you're just kind of clicking through text and choosing apparently half reading it yeah oh yeah I definitely skip sometimes I got the gist of it yeah yeah that's why you know exactly which ending you're getting oh yeah how are you going with them I guess you not currently because you don't you don't remember how to read right we've talked about this or you just can't be bothered reading you know how you just yeah I can't you just don't want to yeah it's yeah so what I do is which is going to sound weird I do have a a guide up which I read through that which tells me what to do so you refuse to read video

games you just read supplementary content so that you don't have to read a video game but the guides for games like this especially with leg sweet Larry when I'm playing is very very like look here pick up this you don't have to read all the other like Words around it so you're not even conscious of what's happening contextually in the game right you're just okay once these people finish talking about whatever they're talking about I'm gonna pick that up is that yes huh and they get an achievement is that how you play a game like cyber punk as well no so no games do you have subtitles on or no I still have subtitles on cuz sometimes I find I read faster than they talk and I get B and I skip especially in Skyrim and what not

yeah cyberp punk I don't do that a game like that I will I'll just play I'll have an idea of what the achievements are but then I'll just play and get it but a game which is like Le Suit Larry or Ace Attorney or stuff like that I will just have a guide up so I can just go through and get the achievements interesting this doesn't sound fun to me but what why you're not ranked the top 300 just Le of the commitment yeah um actually I think I to 300 again I dropped out for a bit and now I'm 294 oh oh Dan's not here by the way oh yeah we haven't mentioned that he's busy so he's living life yeah he's doing important important things uh I guess he

can he can tell everyone what he was up to next week if he feels like it but I mean don't feel obliged to any of you listening none of the look this is business what you're up to mate uh but he's not here obviously um we remembered you talk about well you remembered you want to talk about Russia invading Ukraine or should we just not talk about that I don't know enough so I say we should stay out of it it just seems bad yeah I I actually assumed that was what you were going to say I was just doing it as a joke like I don't think we have particularly anything interesting to say about that like it's bad yeah we uh we don't agree with with them having done that let's let's that's all I really have to say about it I did see a funny news article that said David Lynch has

um has condemned Vladimir Putin with this invasion of Ukraine and I was like oh I'm sure he's really upset about that David Lynch is mad at him there a whole a whole news article written about the fact that David Lynch is mad at Putin about it like all right you don't know he might be a bit of a fan yeah maybe he's a big Twin Peaks fan yeah maybe that yeah maybe that cut through to him and that's going to be the end of the war yeah that you know what that's fair I didn't read the article maybe they were friends previously although I I'd be very surprised if that was the case but I mean maybe it was funny this week I read an article about how it's too late for Star Trek 4 okay well like it's been left too long oh it's not going to happen and now there's an article in

here that says it's going ahead yeah they announced it and basically it seems they surprised everybody including the cast including yeah well and the representatives for the cast who were like oh I don't know if everyone's available we hav we didn't think this was happening cuz it has been a very long time since the last one yeah because they were talking about Quenton Tarantino doing one and um then I think that all sort of went quiet in the movies and then those was just sort of focused on the television series cuz they've got like yeah Discovery out and they've got the new one was it Brave New worlds MH new worlds whatever that one is yeah coming soon and they've got all the cartoons and kids stuff that's out they don't even have they have a

script it's not green lit there's no budget or anything it's just they made this weird announcement I think I think they've got an idea of the script but they don't want to confirm the script because they don't know who's coming back oh I I thought you were going to say I think I thought you were going to say you have an idea what the script's going to be and I like have you seen the other three no I just yes I like them what do you think the fourth one should be I don't think they should do a fourth one all right yeah well that's not a very good script because they've already sort of done the whole we've been out in space for a long time we're old we're s they've already sort of I think ex done the stories sure

yeah unless I do the one about Wales no was that the fourth one yeah it was but they don't have to remake they I want Wales F I mean that that in a weird way that would be interesting if they just were like [ __ ] it we're just going to remake Star Trek 4 oh please that would be amazing Vo home yeah the one where they go back come back in time and they still go back to the 80s yes it was like all right all right all right yeah I don't want to to come back to present day I want him to go back to the 80s and it's literally just a shot for shot remake but with those actors yep all right and those and those and and new whales obviously I don't know if those whales are still around do we still are we still worried about the humpback whale or are they okay now did Star Trek save oh they're fine now track

saved them yeah okay good we've moved on from that but they will have to maybe one person they can't bring back I'm trying to think is who the Russian yeah right yeah yeah yeah so I may have to recast cut his seed I was like who died oh that's right Anton yelin that's his name right yeah yeah well he was Australian actually the uh the actor was he yeah yeah anthon yelin is that actually his real name or I'm making that up Anton Anton yelin uh was an American actor so I'm I'm I'm we're both wrong and he was born in Russia so I guess you're more correct than me not Australia yeah I thought he yeah I thought he was born in Russia cuz that was his accent I know I don't know he put it on probably a little bit more yeah I don't know what I was for the

show anything in here about Australia no not a not a single mention of Australia on his Wikipedia so I don't know what I'm smoking yeah but so yeah parabot came out went yep we're making it confused the actors their reps saying there's no script they think in here say it's not actually even been green lit yeah so what are they doing exactly they just yeah we doing it oh they said they're going to start filming it at some point yeah they're going to start filming in December which hopes to make a no this also say enter into early negotiations for a movie which hopes to make December 22nd 2023 release end of next year so that means they got to film it they say soon film it they've got to negotiate write the

script get everyone on board film it do all post production and then release it I reckon they're just doing this to see if anyone gives a [ __ ] like I'll watch it okay especially if they make our movie so now we just need to figure out if you saying you'll watch it is enough for them to actually keep going or is this I think maybe they're just putting it they're floating this out there like uh let's just say we're going to make it and see what the reaction is cuz it's been a while right oh if it's based off me it's not going to happen because remember how Battle of 5 was going to make be doing a reboot yeah evidently they did the pilot and then it wasn't picked up Oh I thought that was like happening a done deal yeah

you told that's what you told me anyway that's what I assumed it was that everything I was reading pointed to that they got canned or no just not picked up not picked up there's an article now that it may still be possible but I haven't read any of that I just read the fact it wasn't picked up oh which was last week or something there you go well that's s it SS like B 5 is always one of these weird things like everyone talks about how what a great show it was how it's like one of the science fiction shows the 90s and everything you can't see it anyway I've never seen it I know that it's supposed to be one of the best shows but and but that's only cuz people tell me that I don't know I don't know if those people have seen it I know you have I have I love it I might start of watch through of

that again I know it's got that guy with the the weird hair like the he's got like balding with the hair sticking up Ambassador Londo that's yeah that's I don't know his name but yeah I believe you based on that description yeah big eyebrows he he he did that big hair as a joke did he the the character or the actor the the actor okay so when they were filming sort of the first movie pilot movie before the show he was it was a joke he was meant to have his hair sort of up like that but it wasn't meant to be as high it was just meant to be sort of low but he ah Let's do let's do this for a bit of a joke went out and saw the director and he went I like it let's keep it and then it turned into a bit of a became part of their race like the higher the hair the more power

responsibility yeah yeah right and listeners if you don't know what I'm talking about or what we're talking about Google what's his name Londo lond I can't remember no Ambassador Ambassador Londo yeah don't listen to me listen to Ambassador Londo and you'll see what I mean I know what he looks like don't know don't know anything else about him yeah I really hope it does get a chance to come back I've met a few of them have you yeah they come and visit you in hospital years no not in a hospital I had to go to conventions and bookstores oh like a normal person yeah um I'm going to have to stop for a second I will be back in a moment though all right then I have to go get drugs do you want to just keep recording and then yeah talk about yourselves all

right so the thing literally connects through your flashh via magnets to do the stretching yeah so I've got super high powered magnet that I sort of put on a specific point of my leg I turn this machine on and then it makes a lot of noise for about 3 minutes and that's at slowly twisting this thing that's in my leg to stretch the bone 33 mm and I do that three times a day so it's like a like a what do you call like a screw kind of you call that like a like I forget it is actually just like a screw it just basically just like screws around and expands the unit and then they do a millimeter a day because you if you go too much the bone can't sort of start to heel and in MIM of day sort of just enough that you're sort of stretching across but the bone

starting to reconnect so it's yeah amazing what they can do this is my second time doing it except this time's a bit more high tech yeah right the last time I did it I had spanners yeah I do recall you had the MEO set when yeah when I met you yeah and yeah and that was where I had to four times a day just get the Spinners out and just lengthen my leg quite weird yeah yeah yeah this is certainly more cyber punk in uh yes in in function and this time and when I finish it stays in this time so last time when I finished they yeah they had to go take the meano set out this time that just stays in there is there not any danger that you're going to walk near a magnet at some point and like shorten yourself accidentally or

something see I I has to be a very very powerful magnet I can get magnets like don't you worry about that that but also I think it's the way the magnet does it a spe I'm sure cuz I I'm I'm I'm trying when you said that it uses it to kind of turn the thing to to you know kind of expand the unit I was like how the [ __ ] does that work you know what I don't really need to know that but then also like if you look at like it takes like to do 33 of a millimeter which is nothing it takes 3 minutes that's amazing that's literally amazing cuz I was going to ask is it painful and so I I it is the bone isn't the bone don't feel bone has no feeling so right like I've had bone before screwed out of my

leg with no painkillers no nothing cuz I had uh plaster on my leg for 9 months and over that N9 months I had to screw work its way out of my skin oh in my ankle and then they just got a Philip screwdriver and just took it hurt when it broke the skin but then it just felt weird as they took it out of my ankle Jesus this time it's it's not the bone it's my muscles getting used to it and adjusting the muscles have to adapt very quickly and that's where the pain is is it going to get like more difficult over time or just the same kind of difficult just the same and it doesn't take long cuz I think I've got about get about 5 cm which means I've got to just do it for 50 days which okay it goes very quickly yeah I've already

done over venator that's cool man he's hoping it doesn't that's why Star Trek should make a movie about whales for me that's right just to cheer Luke up cuz he's lengthening his leg he's got to sit sitting around not doing a lot you know no normally you'd be out there kicking a ball around and you know running with the balls you love [ __ ] yeah I do that all the time mhm but not anymore the only the only thing that's different is I'm not going to work it's the only thing that's changed in my life yeah I don't get to work and I play more games mhm which I'm missing work but I can't focus enough to go be at work yet that's the problem yeah sure yeah cuz it's distracting the uncom discomfort I yes and I can't drive which is drivve me

insane as well oh sure well I can't run my SC and I can't drive our car because we've got a manual I can drive an auto but I don't have one yeah right because I'm not American are you GNA get you know when you when when you do eventually drive again your leg's going to be longer is that going to screw you up a little bit um we'll take probably some adjustment and also I need to learn to walk again and everything okay yeah okay do that first I guess well no that's what I think cuz I've walked with like a 5 cm difference for what 20 odd years going back to walking with none it's going to be different it's going to take some time can you you don't walk on it currently you're using the crutches all the time uh yeah I'm no weight bearing at the moment yeah right cuz

technically my leg is like completely broken okay right oh of course because it's yeah yeah okay intally A little G yeah yeah yeah of course all right well now that we freaked the listeners out with uh just weird stuff that happens to Luke with what's going on inside Luke's [Laughter] body uh we got we we we missed this last week we skipped over it we've got a geek of the week from last week that I guess we're going to have to roll forward into this week and then there's another sadly another another geek of the week Contender this week yeah I was reading I woke up this morning and I was seeing this everywhere and this is going to be a tough week for me okay that surprises

me but all right really so I mean the more recent one is Sally Kellerman who people may know if they're our age or older I'm not sure exactly what age people stop watching MASH but she played uh hot lips no she played it in the movie not the television show now I don't even know this person yeah no you're thinking of someone else am I yes all right well I well then I definitely don't know how this is going to be difficult for you right you tell me who this person is then okay so Sally Kellman um she's most known as being the original hot Holan but not from the mesh television show from the mesh movie which came out first right okay the one that had uh oh which brother didn't had it in it it had one of the before Baldwins what was the

other big brother we had big brother family um look let me just go to a be and find this out all right um was it Southerland oh the Donald the the Donald and family yeah so this one had uh where's let me go to the movie cuz I actually quite like the movie I've watched it many many times and yes Donald southernland was in this Donald Sutherland you've watched the mash movie many yeah it's a good movie I recommend it I didn't know there was a mash movie I'll be honest I thought it was just a TV show um was the movie was based the television show was based off the movie which was based off a book right all right but yeah the person you're thinking of you thought it was uh Lorissa sweet who was died but she's still she's still kicking she's alive

who she was in that so yeah in meatballs so meatballs one was to Camp with Meatballs 2 had the alien Meatballs 3 was about a virgin and trying to get laid and this famous mov movie actress died and to get into heaven she had to come back to earth to help him that's the part of meatballs three and then you find out that he actually falls in love with the best friend blah blah blah but I I like the Meatballs movies don't judge me not going to judge you I just didn't know that she was in Columbo uh which so you should know from there well I've definitely I I I looked it up and it is a it's a later Columbo that I've not gotten to on my latest rewatch and there are a lot of columbos so yes I'm going to have to see you in

context to even remember so yeah but no look most people probably won't quite remember her she she was big in the day but you're going to have a you're going to have a hard time picking between her and Ivan wman I I I I like mash you I even thought about reading the book I own the book she didn't write the book right just just putting that out there do you like um Ghostbusters do you like meatballs we discuss it you do like meatballs do you likees Kindergarten Cop twins like he directed all of those movies he directed he directed meatballs the movie that you just said you really love and and that other

person was in the third one of them so all right so so basically he he had part of most of the movies we grew up watching yeah he was clearly even if not a officially like he probably did have some influence on a lot of those movies from absolutely we yeah cuz he was a producer on on movies like I mean this list here is all sorts of stuff from from when we were kids like bait Hoven which I don't I know it's the dog movie don't remember but I know what it is Euro trip Space Jam private parts which is the Howard Stern movie I believe uh stop on my mom will shoot which didn't that have Betty White in it no no that had the other the older lady the younger lady from Golden Girl oh you're absolutely right the older

younger one I'm not having a good week but uh yeah all right um he also helped out on bayat that movie that came out a few years ago that's a great movie as well oh the new one with the yeah I enjoy it it's like stupid that movie was funny yeah um and the new Ghostbusters movies ones in fact yeah he was involved with so I don't know how much he's involved with with the not the last one the the one before that the 2016 one I don't call it the girl one but gobusters but that one because the one with the girls I don't know that that doesn't seem like or if he was a part of it he had no influence whatsoever because it's it's very different in tone from the I have not seen the one actually I still got to watch them really watch it it is really

good and you both said it good and it's a it's a little it's a nice send off yeah right for Ivan wman who has died but and now has to compete with Sally Kellerman a woman who was in the sequel to a movie that shot in that all right I Ran's going to get it actually no scw I'm going to give out to both of them they're both geek of the week that you know what that's fair because technically Ivan rman should have got this last week but for some reason we just didn't didn't get to it because we were too busy talking Kellman was today right yeah very Rec so y they both get it all [Music] right and now that was the jingle Geeks

of the weeks CU it's two weeks and and I have given out multiples in the past you have I think the fact that it was that you know we kind of passed over one of them last because we didn't have a geek of the week last week so it's retroactive in a sense yeah yeah I mean Dan might have something to say about it but he's not here if he wanted to and I'm the judge that's right I'm the one that has the final say for some reason I don't know when that started or why I decided that was the case but if he wants to put you in your place next week that's fine but he's not here this week so L get luk gets to do what he wants exactly we' got a little bit of followup on the um the whole Helen Hutchins you

know Alec Baldwin rust shooting thing it's not a huge update but and this one just seems a bit weird I think it's it's this fits in with one I think we talked about this in the Afterparty last week there was an article about um about how the family of the of Helena hitch Hutchin I've written Hitchens in here which is not her name so I'm going to correct that cuz if I keep looking at it I'm going to keep saying it wrong and yeah um Helen Hutch's family is suing Alec Baldwin she's not suing Alec Baldwin as such she's suing all of the producers of the she's Shing the production and he's one of The Producers so yeah she they're not they they're suing for an unsafe working they're they suing the employer essentially yes they're not suing him for shooting her

like because they think he murdered her or something weird like that it's not it's not like that and then this article too they're talking about the article is saying that her husband is mad at Alec Baldwin and again I mean he is directly mad at Alec baldman but not because she thinks you know he he murdered or murdered her did it on purpose it's just he allow unsafe well no not even that he does he specifically said which I think we've said too is that that interview that he gave was a really shitty thing to do yeah because he didn't he did didn't handle it very well it was clearly way too soon and he it was there was a lot of covering his own ass that went on yeah and which is what even we said at the time was like it wasn't yes the

thing to do at the time and he was he was emotional and and and it was it was just a I don't I don't understand why he did that he should have kept his mouth shut it would have it wouldn't have been his idea it would have been publicist going we need to get ahead of this and all that he need a new publicist then cuz that just H me he clearly wasn't in any state to talk about it anyway and he and he ended up just saying a bunch of stuff that sounded silly like he never pulled the trigger and and all just odd he just said odd things that made things confusing and basically just made it all worse and gave yeah you know the Press stupid things talk about all I think he should have said at times like look a terrible thing has occurred we're going to let the investigation come out

happen and I'll assist with any inquiries they have that's all he needed to say there not go into details and right try and explain and then have other people jump on and try and explain what happened cuz remember when they came out with the gun then there's all these YouTube articles and stuff going up he couldn't have yeah that's not how all this stuff and all that it's he should have just not said any of that stuff that's yeah it was just a bad idea CU like I said he clearly was not in the right frame of mind to do it anyway because he was he he was emotional it seemed like he was genuinely emotional he just shouldn't have been talking about it on TV doesn't make any sense cuz even though he didn't do this on purpose he he honestly if you if you was if this

was to happen to one of us that we were one of the ones that accidentally you'd still feel incredibly guilty yeah oh and I believe that he did that's I just think because what what a he that the husband is mad about is just the fact that he he did spend a a fair bit of air time talking about how it wasn't his fault and it's like well and and not accepting any responsibility which I mean legally you had to do that but which was why I'm saying he should have just not done the interview all he did was make it worse like yeah he can't go in and go look this is my fault I accept full responsibility you can't do that no that's that's yeah legally that would be that would be a bad idea yeah so here he shouldn't have done an

interview he could have made a statement just a a few lines left it as is said yeah sorry and then she yeah he also said just seeing him talking about what had happened so openly on television was annoying because the investigation was going on and there was some details that I guess they didn't know and he talked quite a lot about how the shooting happened and that upset the husband too which is fair enough he shouldn't have been talking about it but that's the world we live in now people want to know everything right away went and they're not really concerned about facts no well that's and that's what he said when he he said Alec baldman said the reason he did it was because he saw people saying a bunch of stuff that wasn't true and he wanted to correct them but yeah yeah I just I just

don't think that was the right thing to do personally but I didn't just I wasn't just involved in accidentally shooting a person so yeah I'm I don't know what I would think was a good idea if that happened well that's what I think like honestly it would have been his his good idea at the time was to I'll listen to my publicist who I paid him a lot of money to handle this stuff we'll clear this all up and then while I'm not thinking straight I'll listen to them because that's their job yeah not should have just stayed up in v kept your mouth shut yeah well called in Via your house yeah yeah we could have had a drink about it and then you wouldn't have to worry about it because it wasn't wouldn't have been televised it would have just been secretly recorded and

then played back on this podcast yep um we've got some uh Michael Bay news that I thought was just a little bit interesting what's he blowing up lately well I I I want to get your take on this because I don't know have you seen have you seen Spectre the Bond movie that's the most recent one no the one it's the the one before is it spected it's like childhood home or something no that's skyall that's the one before Spectre so there's it goes Skyfall I think Skyfall is the last one I've seen and the only one I've seen of this current James Bond all right well for context then Spectre has a bit in it where a blows up yeah there a very very big explosion in it and it's it's like known as the biggest explosion in film history except Michael B says that's

[ __ ] he's had he's made a bigger explosion in uh in Pearl Harbor back in the day his explosions or one explosion in particular was bigger and he's okay and he's pissed off that specters in the Guinness Book of World Records when Pearl Harbour should have been and I was curious if you'd seen have you seen Pearl Harbor even no no okay well we're not going to get we're not going to get very far adjudicating this matter then I guess well well no see probably what happened is we spect that they actually probably submitted it to gu book because gu book of Works don't just go and go where going like this is it they're not watching everything that happens in the world I'm laughing cuz I was like I didn't actually expect that we would

figure it out but I think you probably just have figured out what the problem here is yeah and now if Michael Bay actually goes and goes and officially submits it they'll probably review it and they might overturn it yeah yeah cuz that's what they do yeah yeah that's fair well see this made me want to watch so I I like Michael Bay uh for what it is for what his films are yeah you know and he doesn't try to do anything you know what you're getting yeah yep you get explosions and fights and sexy ladies usually mhm and I'm not sure Pearl Harbor has the sexy ladies bit it probably does I'm not sure because it's a historic there was a love interest in it wasn't there I don't

know I don't know it just seems like it's serious topic particularly in the US it's taken quite Ser I don't know I I wouldn't call it a historical film well see that's that's it's inspired by TR vents that's I to watch because I can't yeah but I can't imagine over here you'd get much leeway making light of of it you know what I mean I don't think he was making light of it but this is back when cuz this is Ben Affleck and this is when yes before he got serious I think okay so yeah I don't know I just I'm not I wouldn't have imagined he'd get far yeah so there she was the love interest wait who Kate Beck Andale Kate beckon sail's in that yep I and I haven't seen it nope Al oh and Alec Baldwin and Alec Baldwin's in it who did he shoot in this one I do

little oh no that's who he played sorry I and then obviously I just Googled Pearl Harbor and none of this is about the film which rightly so cuz You' have now got homework apparently I have got homework music by Hans how have I not you missed this how have I not seen this [ __ ] movie I think cuz at the time he won a worst picture and a worst director golden raspberry award so and wor I think the reason why you may not have seen the was while America was quite close to home and big thing in Australia yeah we know of it but we don't really know too much and also this was 20 years ago as well so how closest we got to bombing in Australia was Darwin right when they bombed up there

so yeah I guess but watch it let me know what you think all right I'm going to add it to my homework list for the week watch and then I'll watch uh I've seen Spectre before uh it was fine I'm I probably won't watch the whole thing again but I'll watch that explosion again yeah watch the explosion in both and then you come back and let us know which one's bigger all right but yeah my thing is is yeah the people made expect that they probably submitted it and that's why they're there yeah well because I think at the time they made a fuss about it so I think you're absolutely right I think it's just the fact that they said it was the biggest and everyone was like all right we believe you at the time he didn't say anything he just blew stuff up that's what Hees home

and went oh that's not true mine's mine's bigger hopefully someone asks me about it in 2022 and I can have a winge we should get into the Guinness Book of World Records for something do we have the biggest something is there something about this podcast that's the biggest of something or we could have the the longest running podcast with the fewest listeners type of thing we don't know that that's true though well the but I think we might be up there I'm not saying that our listeners are great and I love them but most podcasts that have been running for as long as we have are sort of that top te like Adam Cara yeah people give up yeah well see because the thing is too I mean and and statistically we do all right for listeners and and and actually you know

our listeners are great they write in and they submit and they and they're they're great like I I I know that you're probably right the ones that go for the longest are the ones that have the massive audience like Joe Rogan for example's been going for he's raking in the cash we do this cuz we like it so and yeah you're never going to get rid of us cuz yeah I still enjoy this that's interesting we so we've been doing this for almost I was going to say almost 10 years it's more than 10 years we're I think this is our 12th year [ __ ] hell I think in October it'll I think it be 12 years yeah right yeah you might be on something there longest running podcast no but not like the fewest listeners cuz I feel like there got to be podcast with less listeners than us yeah but maybe

of YouTube and I watched some video about how basically if you want to make it on YouTube and and this is why we would never make it on YouTube is that you basically there's like um you design your videos you have to sit down and script them and then frontload them with a bunch of like leading [ __ ] to get people to watch CU it's all about like watch time and and and all this kind of stuff and people put in all and I was just like oh God I can't imagine I was doing that we just try and make a a fun entertaining thing that we're proud of I don't care about how marketable it is I actually think the other part of the problem is is we take too much pride in the work if that makes any sense like a lot of the

YouTube stuff it's not about being good quality it's about they being a lot of quantity yeah making money like even when we were making videos and putting them on YouTube they'd be very few and far in between the quality was there but we just you need you need to commit to be having that least at least one or two every we you we should get into we should get into making videos or or episodes of this show where we just talk about you know our everyday carry and we have affiliate links to all the stuff and then we just roll around in the affiliate money at the end of the day yeah yours yours would just be your Xbox I guess yeah I I would just I just like not to spend as much money as I do on games well I don't know how you get around that you

just keep buying the games Luke oh you got free ones I guess maybe yeah but I feel I still feel guilty about getting review codes I was going to say we do get free ones and I usually don't or they e meil said do you want a code and I'm like no I'll buy a game if I want to play it because then I feel pressure to to say nice things about the game i' rather just yeah yeah we're bad at this that's the that's literally problem is that we're bad at this at being a business well the other thing is a lot of the codes that I can get um they're normally L from like AAA Studios there a lot of like Indie and sort of able a games and stuff and I I want to support you so I want to buy the game but like there's a game that's coming out this week that I've been looking forward to

for years called Conan Chop Chop I saw that cuz I know that you've been talking about it that's finally coming out and I've already purchased a game cuz I want to support those Studios that are making these good quality work that well that's this is why you're just going to keep having to pay for games Luke mhm the other thing is I need to start playing them all my backlog is getting away from me you need like a jira for uh for your game backlog I do the pro the other problem I have is and is that whole Netflix dilemma sometimes I'll spend more time deciding what play than I will playing it sure yeah yeah actually yeah that that's um when I'm on the on the treadmill and I'm like see if there's a YouTube video I'm like by the time I

finally find one I'm like oh it's been 20 minutes yep I'm done yeah well no no I've got I do at least half an hour half an hour of exercise every day that's what they say they in quotes that's what they say who they I don't know medical experts I don't know 30 minutes that's what my doctor asked me if I do do you do 30 minutes of exercising every day I didn't yes I didn't no next I'm doing it so that next year I can go in and go yeah actually I do so is it next year you can like say that or next year you just don't have to lie it's both it's cuz you would have said yes when the doctor asked you do that 30 minutes you say yes she knew as soon as I stood on the scale she knew she was they always know she was just testing me it's like when my doctors ask
