surely NOP he's falling off the internet I've gone through like 60 cans of mountain Jew in two weeks oh he's back he's back he's back I went away you went away you went to another place that's weird I did read that coke are bringing out an energy drink now specifically targeted at video Gamers they've tried their energy drink before and it didn't work CU mainly because it was terrible which one did they have was it called something crazy or was it just called Coke energy I think it was just Coke energy it was just like was it a small can it wasn't anything fancy do you still have V in Australia we do yeah I used to like v v was my gateway drug to Red Bull and now I'm just on Red Bull oh I never like that much I'm blue V all

the way blue V blue v no I like the traditional v no the black v the coffee flavored V is the best no yeah you're right I know that one yeah yeah cuz we didn't have you couldn't get Jolt Cola many places in Australia you could find time to time but yeah that was the one that was on TV all the time but you couldn't you had to know where to get it yeah exactly I think there was like a gas station in Kingswood that had it but I didn't want to go to Kingswood just for that yeah I mean the only people that went to Kingswood were people that forced to be in Kingswood already because they lived there like us like Luke and I I got a jolt cola but I also I also got bashed so that's right for the Jolt Cola one thing I really wish they would try and

do in the show again is Bring Back Dr Pepper oh he's gone again Luke something's going on with your and he's got something interesting to say as well so I want to hear it something's going on with Luke's internet today I guess I mean it'll be on it'll be on his track it just won't be in our pie so we yeah we'll just react to it you did what to her is she alive I really want them to try and bring back Dr Pepper Dr Pepper never went away I get it for you right now just it was complete lack of I think would be interest in it now I think it's it's been enough time and the vanilla Dr Pepper was [ __ ] excellent yep cherry Dr Pepper's good too it's kind of redundant what is regular Dr Pepper yeah no that's that's what I mean it's it it's got a little bit of a

cherry it's a little leans into it a little more it's good so the Coca-Cola energy drink aimed at Gamers is called Coke bite and bite of course is spelled b y t e stop it what's different about it uh well it's in pixelated font that's what's that's what's different does it tastes like Coke the actual Coca-Cola logo I don't know all right bite yes Coca-Cola bite bite are we getting that here I tried the pixel flavor zero sugar and it bites it's on the verge oh it's actually pixeled flavored is it it's not just graphic design okay yeah it's coming out here how do we target Gamers well let's [ __ ] put an 8it F bite on it let's call it B yeah they love it they love bites yeah exact kids on their XBox love knowing look talking about bites and

bits and they remember what bites are they don't know how to Target Gamers because they're putting zero in front of sugar should be extra sugar yeah well maybe because like if if they're targeting game is in their 40s like we are like I can't have sugar anymore like you know what I mean I've got a the sugar-free alternatives for things so just speaking of energy drinks you just reminded me and we don't have to talk about this too much but you know I'm into F1 now right yes I cannot get behind the Red Bull team because you've got they just it just annoys me right because you've got um they're cheating Ferrari Mercedes Martin like Renault or or yeah and then Red Bull it's like [ __ ]

off yes well hold on do they make their own cars assuming that Ferrari is made by Ferrari but so all the cars all the cars have to use the same Parts but the own teams work on it like you yeah you get to tweak them a bit there's like a selection so like there's there's a bunch of cars that use the Ferrari powertrain some of them use the Mercedes one some of them use the ren or the it's still the Renault one I think or renault's so it's like games that use the Unreal Engine yes but even speaking of engines you only get to use like three engines for the entire season oh that's right yeah you've this year they got very big restrictions too there's like you have limited spare parts too so like if you have an accident you could be just [ __ ] for the whole

season like it's really interesting I don't care about it at all but it's really interesting a it's pretty good I got to anyway that's all there was pretty good pretty good crashes in the qualifier last night if you're interested guys stand in bull Team I'd imagine that the Red Bull team has got like [ __ ] like weird steampunk [ __ ] to their car I mean Red Bull were they were the champions last year I just all I know about the Red Bull brand is that they they sponsor the flu tag which is all people trying to fly yes you know with bicycles with wings that's what I mean I just can't get I just they just annoy me just cuz it's it's like Red Bull it's like no no there's one thing I get I'm still confused about with sort of F1 racing now and it's that they've got this big

thing that goes in the middle of their Vision sure for on the little cage thing they in this little case thing and then this thing that goes straight down in the middle of where they would be seeing it's really weird H that's interesting yeah I didn't think of that but yeah that's fair man I can't deal with when they put like the helmet cam on I'm like I don't understand how they and react that fast when you're just watching him drive it doesn't look that fast but they're up at like 300 km an hour and yes exactly it's and there's not a driver and a navigator like in other Motorsports right nope no it's just it's like you've got to have [ __ ] reflexes I just don't even understand how I don't know how they don't crash more to be honest it's so fast the other

thing is they also have to be look after their weight yes cuz there's weight limit for the car and that includes the driver like a jockey yeah that's yeah exactly well I know as was an interview listen to an interview with valry botas who's like used to race Mercedes on the alpha Rome team now he's he's great he might be my favorite driver Jenna likes him as well he must be very handsome he might be our family favorite he's the official driver of your family he's exactly he's from Finland he's he's a very cool guy but he was talking on this podcast about how he his girlfriend who's Australian is like a Competitive Cyclist and they go cycling together and and the interview was like oh do you go cycling a lot and he goes well I try not to cycle too much because if you do too

much endurance stuff it affect your uh your ability to to drive in F1 effectiv the guy's like what and he's like well no no cuz you it affects your um your reflexes cuz your endurance is different to fast actions and this kind of stuff and then it's just like just on another level they will lose weight over the course of a race yeah oh yeah because they're sitting in the car for s two hours I mean the the only thing I know about Cricket for example is that Shane War managed to to be Australia's best fast bowler whilst being over weight and drunk so maybe it's like that you know it's like if I got to fit I literally wouldn't be as good at my sport yeah a Australian sports are a little bit different to the rest of the world you're going to get we're going to

get letters for you referring to Cricket as an Australian sport I don't care letter from India there's a billion Indians who would disagree well we're better at it than everyone else so calling an Australian it's what we do they're going to they're going to call you complain about that and then ask you to uh let them remotely access your computer to fix the uh the virus that youve got on your Windows 10 installation racism but true um this week I was looking at Ferraris online as you do because you know I'm me I'm a middle Aston Ms as I do [ __ ] I'd love an Aston M I could afford one of those even less than I could afford a Ferrari but I've gotten to the point now where I'm a middle-aged man and I just like looking at cars I'll never afford yeah just look

at them just look at them just watch videos on YouTube about them but um did you know and might have known both of you but I didn't know if you walked if I walked into a Ferrari dealership no matter how much money I had in my pocket they would not sell me a brand new Ferrari no you have to own two secondhand Ferraris first and even then it doesn't guarantee you there was a whole kafuffle did you know this no I didn't know the specifics of it I know that it's not as simple as that and I know that they're very particular too because there was that whole thing about when um ID got really wealthy off Doom yes they bought Ferraris and they went and modified they don't like that hooked up and he showed up at a no he showed up at a a meat and they were like get out

I've just sent you both a snap of what I was talking about with the F1 and the weird thing that goes down the center of their Vision yeah no I know the thing you mean absolutely and now that you've said it I don't let me have a look I like how this is a shot from a video game well the easiest one to fine that's how I know all about it that's how I know use three power trads throughout the year and that's why they tell you it's a McLaren that's a McLaren car that's either either Daniel Ricardo or L Norris I can't tell which from here see McLaren you can walk in and buy a brand new one because they're not as particular about their brand as Ferrari is but Ferrari only want Ferrari Enthusiast see I would be that person that would go in I would get my hands on

one and I'd paint it some bright green color cuz that's the color I want that's why that's why you're the reason you can get different colors from this list they'd see you they'd see you coming they would see you coming and they would send someone out to shoe you away I think you in the wrong shop sir I don't know why French well first of all they'll suggest that you buy a secondhand Ferrari and a classic one like one from the 80s right they'll suggest that and then once you've had that for a year or two years they'll suggest you buy one from maybe the 2000s and then only only then will they consider and apparently there's no guarantee you could be wealthy you could be famous you could be respectful of your they do not give a [ __ ] about money

they only care about The Prestige of their brand and and the thing is they The Profit they are making on their cars they don't care oh they're [ __ ] expensive and it's not from the sales it's not from the sales I've been watching I was watching f i I watched like a dozen videos of people who regret regretted buying Ferraris and um so there's one guy he's like see the driver's seat you pull it back and it moves forward on its own see the passenger seat it doesn't it's supposed to I took that in and I said I think that's a fault and I think you should fix it they said we can't fix it but that's $20,000 deal with it yeah you wanted a Ferrari I'll put a video down the bottom for you speaking of Ferrari this is uh will buxton's a

famous F1 journalist and this is him trying interviewing Sebastian vle who who now drives to asaman at the time he drove for Ferrari this is him interviewing him while FAL drives him around a track in a oh that's a beautiful Ferrari and uh see that's the kind of Ferrari I like too I mean there's kind of super cars and stuff that just look like spaceships I'm just not interested I mean you couldn't Park that in Kingswood could you I wouldn't park any of these cars I'd be too scared to try and park any of these cars to pick up my uh jol [Music] Cola so Matt a couple of weeks ago I was telling you and Luke about um a little incident in my driveway with what could have been a medical emergency

or depending on who you ask could have been an exorcism collapsed or something yeah yeah the W the woman who just passed out you know that's right so we we don't know what happened um but I did get opportunity to discuss um that incident with those exact same group of neighbors uh because we've had a lot of rainfall recently um and our entire complex flooded the other night and I saw ises a few outside with a broom so yeah yeah so basically all the guys in our Apartments ended up down the back of our driveway with brooms and other bits of Implements of Destruction and trying to move the water from the drain that was clearly blocked to other drains that maybe weren't as blocked um before it ruined all our stuff my garage and my

neighbor's garages are on the same level as the front doors of our backward neighbors so we were trying to protect our garages they were trying to protect their living rooms so the stakes were different for everyone but everyone had something to try and protect I was going to say yeah but um so we all worked together it was It was kind of fun knowing that we weren't actually making that much of a difference but we're all trying but uh everyone taking it very seriously but there was one bit that I I just wanted to tell you guys because I knew you'd love it so we've also had a little bit and I hope the new buyers who just bought my house are not listening but why would they be you got a poster up and they were like oh that sounds good and then when

they were looking at the house yeah you know they they're looking around they might have seen the mic they might have seen some uh some multiple orgasm t-shirts hanging in the closet I've got a bit of a rat problem here at the moment [ __ ] the comple in just in the complex in general yeah um just in that room correct yeah it was a bin rat problem but I I know it goes deeper than that and I mean literally deeper because because I I've seen H where they come out there is definitely a colony well is it there's some saying like for every one rat you can see there's 10 around you that you can't or something not only that they say that if you live in Sydney wherever you are you are within 10 ft of a rat Jesus have you seen a rat king if you

can't see it it doesn't mean it's not there I I do know what a rat king is but I've not seen one I've only seen individual rats but i' I'd be very interested to see a rat king you know what a rat king is Luke that's the one where they all get sort of mangled together and turn into one giant Beast yeah their tails will get stuck together giant Beast yeah exactly they think with a hive mind it's like Voltron they just Nom yeah nominate one of them to think for them we'll just follow but no so it's [ __ ] pitch black we up to our knees in water and there's this one of our neighbors who's like kind of away from the others kind of near a drain that's kind of suspected as being one of the

potential Rat King hotpots right and um so one of my neighbors yells out to him dude you're you're you're there's rats there man they're going to [ __ ] start gwing on you from under the water Jesus and then he he yells back rats I came to Australia from Iran nothing here can hurt [Laughter] me and I just thought that was the quote of the week that's fantastic mhm yeah he will go up against any Australian [ __ ] mammal yeah because whatever the [ __ ] he saw happen in Iran I mean there's some some beasties in Australia to be fair I mean probably not not in marsfield just yeah yeah was there a little rat with a shovel sweeping out

his driveway that's right I should go and check on him yeah rexo and the Rats of nim remember them oh Rats of nim yes we get a new rat game coming out this year Well very soon we do and I'm actually looking forward to that cuz that's one of the few games that I actually completed in the last 12 months plag tail innocence was it reum yeah I got to play that very good that's uh innocence was the one that was already out so it must be re reent I got excited the other day I saw that stalker 2 was available on Game Pass to install it isn't and I installed it yeah and then I ran it and it said and I was like don't put it on there if you look at the file the file was probably like 10 Meg I know so what is it doing there they do this

thing where they allow you to Pro they you're allowed getting you for a game that's like coming out next week or tomorrow no no no but it worked out good like I can you can pre-install it so I can pre-install it now so when I get up tomorrow it's installed ready to go M makes sense for that oh okay yeah except it's not because it's that's not the game clearly unless the game is yeah so in December when it comes out yeah any I got excited and then I tried to launch you thought made mistake and no one else knew about it except you well what else was it doing there what was I supposed to think I just it just said it doesn't say anything about like anything it just says it says stalker two and then it's install I was like [ __ ] yeah they assume you've been

on Kaku enough to know that it's not [ __ ] out yet I mean I have but I not only that Matt not only have they definitely not finished this game and is it not ready to come out but nobody will release a game set in Chernobyl right now while it's [ __ ] occupied no no that's not true that's not true shinobite is uh is due for release soon and I uh hopefully I'll I want to have a go with that looks pretty good I agree with that I agree with that and they don't they they've been like [ __ ] it we'll release it yeah go for it I mean it's not their fault it's not the chernobylite fault that there's drama in Chernobyl right now unless it is in which case it's not it's not their fault I'm telling you right now it's not the Ukrainian fault that they're being

invaded by Russia but I don't know where the developers of Chernobyl have from in oh I see I see what you're saying yeah I thought you were just taking a very [ __ ] controversial St no I know developers of the Sherlock games are from Ukraine so they've just re-released a devil's daughter Redux so I I brought that again and to be fair we don't have to hate on Russia the Russian military are not representative of the I got a lot of friends in Russia and like they're not invading UK Ukraine right now we don't as far as talk about this a bunch but they they think they're apparently they think they're fighting Nazis or something and they don't know the truth of what's going on they also think that the Ukraine is somewhere in Russia but

they can get in trouble for saying they're War like they can be shot if they sort of protest and say stop the war we're not at War you shut the [ __ ] up I mean we can all agree that we we can all agree we don't like Putin though right we can all agree on that no I think you can well I mean not if you're in Russia you can't say that out loud in Russia either I don't think I am but man when I was in Russia there's a photo of Putin in everyone's [ __ ] house like yeah right it's it was like North Korea level [ __ ] yeah that's [ __ ] that aside it's actually been a big week for games uh oh no Luke disagrees I I'm enjoying a great game but I'm also a bit upset about a game oh go on yeah cuz you

don't typically enjoy games you play more than anyone I like when L has strong feelings about something I know mixed feelings Matt he's got mixed feelings look strong mixed feelings I've been looking for looking forward to playing Lego sty Star Wars the Skywalker Saga for forever now this was B that come out last year and they postponed it and then they decided it will come out on the 5th of April which makes no sense why not just wait a month and release it on the the 4th of May cuz they can't do that every year with every Star Wars product just yeah but this one just one extra month we' had to later year why not I've played through the entire story I've enjoyed it but there's things that I think are missing from the game when you're in when you're playing return a

Jedi you would think that would fly around and blow up the second death star mhm okay correct You' think that would I would think that no that's just a cut scene huh you you you defeat the emperor and then you see them wedge and Lando fly in blow it up and fly out and it's like no where's me flying around shooting things and blowing it up and it's just little things like that it's missing do you fly ships at other points yes and it's actually quite a good mechanic that I quite like like you fly around like space and you do a few things and then like a capital ship will fly in and then you've got to sort of take out the capital ship and then you can take command of it and stuff like cool stuff like that but then lowercase ships as well yep lowercase

ships as well bwing but it's a lowercase b i don't get to blow up the Death Star that's I get to watch it Blow upot but I mean that's kind of that's kind of true to how it is in the film because I'm not watching a move movie it's Lando driving the Millennium Falcon it's none of the it's none of the main cast it Lego I could play every character yeah you can be the gonk Droid if you want to play play as the gonk Droid I've already unlocked the Super gonk Droid he's made of gold and Invincible EXC hang what I don't remember him from the movie no so I I used to I played the Lego Star Wars on like I want to say may it was

firsts back when I was a PlayStation are they any different these days yeah that's what I want to know what's what's how far have we come um they said they're making a lot of changes to like past versions I don't quite see what they are okay okay like it's it's pretty much to me it's the same as like the last few sort of iterations and I do like how like the world's now it's not just level select the way you go it's you start this and you'll fly here you'll fly there the missions that'll spend like you get a mission here it's open world it is sort of open world that's really okay and is their Base building and I'm literally building out of Lego no they did that for Lego Star Wars 3 I think that' be cool you sort of commanded troops and

stuff H but yeah no I'm still enjoying it I just I'm a little upset that it's missing some pretty big stuff from the game I think but I am I well you're quite a way through it if you're already at return of I've already finished all of the story I'm now just playing through and getting all the Collectibles mhm I'm having fun playing as the Mandalorian cuz he gets little baby Yoda following around his little shoulder oh nice God are there little digs you know is there is there a bit where you play as Han and and you you just can't ever shoot first oh no they do have that they do have that little scene play out and it's like Han and G like sort of ducking and shooting each other and both missing and Gro running away and so they've already done all of these movies into games this

is not just like they smooshed them all together this is like a whole new game it's a whole new game and that's something something they did to come out we're not just going to like remaster and put them out where remaking I actually thought this was just like here's all the Star Wars Lego games we already made in but they already did that too they already did no I know that's yeah I think it would have made I didn't look into it but to sort of start with yeah come out with those levels just throw them in create the new movies and then sort of make a world in between I think that's what that should have done I think it would have been better instead of starting from scratch cuz I think that's maybe what it is like they probably got looks like I didn't want a

new game I wanted the games already play they may have thought like look we've had them fly through and destroy the Death Star a couple of times so what they're probably sick of that so let's not put it in this time and let's do something else well no that's forward through that bit in the movie too boring seen it was that Super gonk Droid again yeah where is he but yeah I will there God there's a lot of Collectibles this time I've got about 600 more to get they got you they got you L they knew how to get you yeah they put you on the end 100% every Lego game oh they know they know that they know that speaking again we don't have to talk

about this too much cuz it's we' already talked about but I put no man's sky on just cuz I saw a video and I want to play it I'm I'm it's just I'm stuck why how much has it changed oh it's changed so much there's like what tons of stuff it's I I don't even know where to start so the base building the the whole building system is completely different it's all like it the the is it better yeah it's fantastic it was already good and now it's even better it's just like it doesn't cost anym it wasn't always good and they just want a bafter so I mean I guess they can they can stop now I guess but but yeah it's just it's just great and that's thing I love like they're not asking for money not they're not going de so they just go this update

is all of this stuff and like I know we've talked about exactly this thing before so I won't go on about it but it's it's it's perfectly tuned to where you can't stop because there's always something that you're in the middle of always I played a game this week that's a little bit like that that I know the game you're talking about you do you do know the one go on yeah so I mean after hearing you guys talking about subnautica last week I I just had to give it a go because I too uh am looking for like a lowkey Conan and this definitely fits into that and it's science fiction um and also just the [ __ ] Tranquility of existing in this underwater world is just so enticing but [ __ ] me if it's not a Time burglar I was playing it the other night

and I said to myself I'm only going to play till 900 p.m. and then I'm going to shut this off so the second no matter what I'm up to the second switches over to 9: I'll shut this off I looked at my clock at that exact moment and it was already 11: I was I thought it was like seven it's this just oh my god well I'll just dive down and I'll just find the things I need to make this next [ __ ] piece of equipment yeah and and then all of a sudden you have on an adventure again yeah that's right I discover I'm like a shipwreck I've got to [ __ ] search shipwreck yeah no it's good I got the only reason I'm not still playing it and I honestly the only reason I launched no man sky is because my subnautica save I I I did a thing so so

there's no time limit on the game but there are things that happen at times and it's good to so you get a little time and it's good to go and experience them and so I did a couple things and then I guess didn't save because next time I launched it had a timer on again and I was like no no no no no no no no no I've done that and a lot of other stuff and so I mean I'll go back to it but that but it annoyed me enough that I was like I'll play no man Sky yeah cuz like you don't go straight back into I've got to replay the last 5 minutes replay the last 3 hours which yeah well I think and tomorrow or next week that won't bother me as much as it does right now exactly man I do have been wanting

to play that again it's real good I think about it I think they're both I've never deleted it off my you know when I'm making room for new games I'm deleting them I've never deleted that I might want to come back to that been updated for Xbox series X looks beautiful M there's new planet types at least I've never seen them I Leed on a planet that was just like [ __ ] uh look like the Las Vegas Blade Runner 2049 I think look it's all orange and like there's a volcano that like a wall of flame comes you have to get in your ship before you get I they tweaked the code a little bit with the randomness because a lot of the time the randomness looks pretty sey yeah yeah a bit more random now yeah I think it's more like Star Wars I've

got like an ice planet and a yeah scorched I think they just yeah they just played around so it's still random so you're not quite sure what you're going to get but it's not going to be yeah I've seen this same Planet six times now I'm going to go play it after this no I'm not I'm going to play Star Wars the progression is different like the story is expanded the progression there's more stuff to do so like I restarted a new game and it was like go and do all this stuff that it's new I've never seen it I've done that three times now I played it when it first came out on the Xbox and then I played it again like a year later and it was I was like oh this is all different and then I did it again a year after that it's all different again and then now again

so speaking of games that aren't different when you play them years later last week we were talking about um Ken and Roberto Williams and we were talking about the uh the Sierra games and I got so nostalgic I played two of them this week no three I played three Sierra games this week so my favorite when I was kid was always police Quest because do do you own all of them cuz I got keys if you need any if you're missing any I do own all actually I don't own the I don't own the space quests okay you want space Quest I own this don't own the space quests all right um police Quest took me years I finished it as a kid but it took me years mhm and what's disappointing to me micophone yes I did and I can play it in a single setting no saves no exploration I can just play it

through and actually it's incredibly simple when you just play it you're you're really just following instructions given to you like it's it's so simple it's still a good game though I really love it um yeah but if you don't ask for that microphone you're [ __ ] and you you die and you better hope you saved that's the worst thing Sierra games is that you can yeah that's right no no that one's not so bad cuz that's from the late ' 80s the early 80s ones are far worse um king's quest you can play the whole game knowing not knowing that you can't finish it sure and also king's quest the first king's quest is not a very good game it is there's not even a story it's just a series of events that that happen in whatever order you unlock them it it's

actually a very bad game I don't remember why but I read an article like a couple days ago about the Sierra games and how that happens and actually might have been on rdit subreddit about them but and then people kept mentioning in I think it's legis Suit Larry 2 there's a bit where if you need a bobby pin right but you don't know that you need it in 2 hours and then the only way to get it is to to the only way that you would ever figure out how to get it is if you drank a bowl of soup that was there which and then choked to death on the bobby pin that happens to be in the soup because you need the bobby pin right but you can't drink the soup CU you'll die so you just need to somehow into it right if you were just playing this through you would somehow need to figure out all the be

bobby pin in that soup right yeah what what so no Sierra games expect you ridiculous to try everything and they expect you to die doing a bunch of stuff and then try different things ridiculous yeah that's part that's part of the process they just assume that's keep talking I'll be back in a minute all right so the first one that I played was police Quest and I played uh king's quest as well awful if Luke sends me that key I might play Space Quest yeah yeah I'm not interested in playing any of the VGA remasters or anything like that [ __ ] that um but I also played another game that I hadn't played before Now Matt you mentioned last week how Sierra started which was basically text Adventures right they they they started making some text adventures and then

when Ken Williams bought himself an Apple 2 he was like I reckon we could do pictures as well so they started making but one of the text Adventures that they made was a game called wait for it soft porn Adventure yes yeah and um it wasn't available in stores believe it or not you could only get it mail order from um the Apple 2 magazine it came in a Ziploc plastic bag with um a home printer label stuck onto it yeah but it had a full page ad in the magazine that included um Roberto Williams and two other female staff members of Sierra naked in a bathtub say did you know that that was her and two other people they were just

got it in a pack or something but um I was like oh Roberto Williams in a tub yes please now not only does she does she not feature in the game nothing features in the game it's purely text Adventure um but even like I had some great text Adventures back in the day on c64 and Amiga and all that that still had some illustrations oh yeah yeah but um but this wasn't that this is pure text but a lot of the storyline from this I'm using quotes for a storyline as well um were reused in the original Leisure Suit Larry you start off in a bar you've got to get into the back room you get the password off the wall in the men's room yeah um so a lot of the stuff a lot of the stuff they reused for that there you go yeah apparently Sierra was a [ __ ]

wild place to work then yeah like and they they they would have been arrested these days I think what that least for sure yeah for the some of the [ __ ] that went on in that [ __ ] office but also can you imagine working for a company that's owners and operators were a husband and wife team one of which is a computer programmer and the other is just the wife of a computer programmer who fancies herself a bit of a gamer you know what I mean like Roberto says she wants you to change this whole [ __ ] thing to now now you play as a [ __ ] pixie who does this thing for [ __ ] sake and also she's drawn the pictures oh how much are we going to get paid okay sure I'll do it yeah how much cocaine are we going to do while we

while the game yeah okay I'll do it budgets on these old games were massive though more than you'd think we're going to do all the work in the hot tub sure I guess yeah that makes up for the fact that when I'm doing the art the mouse hasn't been invented yet and I can't even literally draw physically I have to draw with coordinates so I just have to use XY coordinates to [ __ ] draw over these pictures that Roberto Williams has done yeah yeah different time man they made some great games though oh they did they went from like five people working out of the back room of their house house to the rich some of the richest people in the tech industry in like a year that's the thing yeah it's like the

culture of a company that was just a bunch of like goofy people from yeah and then just incredibly wealthy all of a sudden same with ID I guess I mean look what happened with John Romero John Romero yeah bought into his own [ __ ] too much and then yeah wa yeah he's still kind of yeah but you look at ion storm where there's that great article that I should I should find and save it was one of my favorite articles I've ever read about just the game industry was an interview with John Romero when the the article opens where the interview is talking to him and then he gets another email that says you're a [ __ ] idiot daana was a piece of [ __ ] and then you just you see John's he said John's face just fell he's like this happens a lot I get a lot of these emails and just

the whole thing about how after Doom he was just like I'm the [ __ ] best game designer in the world yeah and he bought um the whole top floor of a skyscraper in Seattle with like glass ceilings and then put in all these desks and stuff and all the developers were like we can't see anything on these screens from glare from this Skylight and and then he put in a big IMAX theater and they're like we'll just watch movies then and then yeah that's great mind you I did I've read an article about him recently that said and not in an underhanded way because everybody loves Doom but basically saying that it's singlehandedly [ __ ] the imagination that went into game development from the point where Doom came out that all firstperson shooters

from that day on are now stuck in a doom Loop that they will never ever get out of yeah that makes sense but they did get out of them like just not in a good way no well did they but I mean if you buy if you buy any FPS now it's still just Doom better doom doom with r tracing and you know what I mean like it's still just you can get Doom with ra tracing now you can actually yeah but now with like first person shooters unless they're focusing on multiplayer they're more linear in how you play whereas Doom was you're going to play the same level over and over and go backwards and forwards and get this key and go back here and doom was just the perfect like they knew exactly what to focus on and what to leave out that was like the story is stupid but they were

like it doesn't matter like and they knew it didn't matter it was so that really like the first big mainstream game that there were other games yeah but Doom was what really K yeah ever um I had a look um I've either already given you the space Quest key or I've given it to other people cuz I've owned it twice and I've I've both keys maybe I should check I haven't loged into steam for a little while now may look that brings up something else actually um so I've crapped on and on in the past about the omiga 500 being the kind of most nostalgic computer for me um you know is the the computer that really really got me into games yeah mine's the comer 64 yours is the Amiga and it says a lot about us as people I think yeah that's

right Matt Matt is has an 8bit processor I got 16bit processor so you know uh and that's just how it is just because they know exactly how to get the 40-year-old Gamers to spend money they do last year they released the c64 mini which Matt did you consider getting that I know you at least considered it I had to I think we talked about a little bit I had to jump through hoops to convince myself this is a stupid idea to buy one what was the one you did buy I I guess drunkenly bought the Atari 2600 well not the VCS the Atari VCS I mean it's a new console but the only thing that I have on it 2600 games so it was literally a waste of money except the controllers are cool it's and does it look yeah it's beautiful oh I see it's okay so okay so okay put a pin

in that because I'm coming back to that in a sec so this week they released the mega 500 mini and I to say that I'm excited is is an understatement I've I've been I've been whenever I'm not looking at Ferraris I'm looking up [ __ ] Mega 500 demos cuz all the all the tech reviewers have got their things out now this is essentially just a box where you can load ROMs onto right it comes with a couple it comes with 20 I got a raspberry pie right here that I can do can get for a lot cheaper MH yeah yeah so you can you can you can you can turn a Raspberry Pi into the best Amiga that never existed right yes exactly um the um and you can go on Etsy and buy a 3D printed Amiga shazzy I was going to say that's it doesn't look like one unless I do that in which case it does yeah but

but they're not as good as this cuzz this is a beautiful little housing of the old Amiga it's beautiful it comes with the big tub here's what you can do ask if they can just send you the shell cuz you're never going to use it yeah okay so that's that's what I want right because I want that on my shelf but I also want to play old amga games but I could download I could a [ __ ] switch sitting in a draw here I could put the igga emulator on that and just download the ROMs for 2,000 amga games onto that man I've got a PC laptop in my [ __ ] drawer that I could just fck I could play literally all my games on that go on eBay and just try and find one that doesn't work yeah cuz you don't need it to work you just want to look at it I want to look at I want to look at

it scratch on the back and play some old Amiga games I know someone that like it just died and like yeah yeah yeah well I mean it's brand new none of them are going to be that yet or you mean an actual igga that just doesn't actual amga 500 that doesn't function are so rare and they are so expensive now because you can get them to work and there's there's a couple of people around that can can get old Omega and people beef them up and and and put flash discs in and just play Old ROMs like it's put 20in wheels exactly exactly right yeah um but I want this so bad but I had to literally restrain myself from from ordering it because it is a literal waste of money whereas I had two things Kickstarter arrived this week like what

what did you get um I got uh there's a game series called tiny epic yes so I got tiny epic Dungeons and then I got two albums two vinyl albums from Biz okay from oh Biz I was going to say from BS we've never heard of but no we've heard of them because you mentioned them on the show two weeks ago yeah so we should all know who that is yes and they're doing vinyl because they're like we can't make any money if we just sell tracks like an mobile people have to pay us $50 for an album I I backed something on Kickstarter and it was a com 64 thing uh like last week and as as a backer I'm getting a framed signed print of uh the cover of the Dark Star video game on com 64 oh how much did you spend on that which is the only

reason I cuz that's that's a higher up te that's not a I don't remember I don't remember also I'm hoping my wife doesn't listen to this episode yeah that's not the I'll give us $5 for your support will send you this no no no uh I I can justify it yeah you really wanted it that's right I've just got to get my [ __ ] PC laptop working again I need to reinstall Windows on it which is no easy task when you don't have another PC in the house I might be able to help you are you going to post me a USB with um Windows oh that's easy to do you can do that in 2 seconds not without another PC I can't yeah you can you can download

while you were playing some sh games where you get it says when you get to like this screen open up the book read through the manual and it'll tell you what you see there's a game and I'm sure I've done this on the show before but you know I'll do it again listeners if you can identify this game right in please right it's comos 64 game I thought it was called space a I cannot find a game called space a that that is this game um space a was um like um Dragon Age the dragon yeah see that's not it so this game was like space a the well the game whatever the game just a tape that I with the4 at some you in a spaceship you flew along and you had to rescue scientists right and I know that sounds familiar

but there's more to it because that's like Defender right it is very much like Defender right but you pick them up with the tractor beam and then at a certain point you could purchase upgrades for the ship and the goal was to eventually fly out of the atmosphere and take out a gun turret on the moon right that does that does sound a bit familiar though I whatever that game is it I I don't know what it's called I've been trying to maybe I'm better off not remembering because it's exactly like you said Dan in my head that was the greatest game it was I spent so long I loved it it was amazing and if I ever eventually find it I'll be like oh I just sent you a chat snapchat I think I found it you [ __ ] off you did

oh my God that's it what is that it's space a space a 21101 space a that's the game [ __ ] found it and actually it looks pretty good Matt hang on a minute doesn't look I don't think that looks too bad okay you you didn't have to try that hard to find I it was a I typed in space a game c64 and it was the first leag you knew what it was called when was that video posted that say 2019 that might explain it I haven't looked recently you think you think no one put it online until recently everyone had just it was a forgotten game 2101 that's the one that's the game there you go came out in 1988 2010 that video was posted all right so I guess I just didn't try hard

enough 88 was late in the game for a c64 game too yeah yeah I I typed in four words into Google what were the full words space a game c64 didn't type in full Cal cuz I'm too lazy so Matt just to be clear you you didn't buy this c64 mini no I did not and and they also brought out the c64 Maxi which was the same thing but actually full-sized as well I did not because I convinced myself that first of all if I got it right it was going to be another thing on my [ __ ] desk that hooked up to a monitor or hooked up to a TV well you probably wouldn't even you hook up you wouldn't hook it up to a monitor cuz it take up as spot and you would never actually use it except for the day you got say and then and then

but but except it would have to be hooked up to something because it's literally a keyboard right the only way to interact with it and a non-functioning keyboard a nonfunctioning keyboard so yeah exactly so yeah and I was like no it's ridiculous I have there's a very good Comm 64 emulator called Vice which I'll play Space 21101 on at some point yeah yeah so the interesting thing about the A500 mini is that it comes with a controller which the Omega never did it's it's like it looks retro but it's brand new cuz there wasn't a controller for the Omega it was all uh joystick based um unless you have an idea of what you want to use it for don't do it oh like as in what games I want I know I've got a list I've got a run think of it

for games think of what would you you can't do anything that's not games on you can't get workbench on it and like do some basic Amega programming or anything like that it's just a console don't get it there's no there's not even a keyboard the key I mean the thing is a keyboard it's not a functioning keyboard don't do it this is coming from me I know so you can't even type on it no oh I'm almost positive you can't type on the c64 mini either you're probably right but you know but a man I want it and I also for I for some reason lately I've been weirdly nostalgic for the PS1 and you can get the PS1 mini as well and I'm [ __ ] but PS1 games are in we've talked about this they're in that era that's they're uncanny like you better off with like I've got like this the

SNES mini which I think is a better get than the PlayStation One Mini I think yeah those games would have aged better and be more playable than a Playstation One game I've got that Raspberry Pi that I also already mentioned yes that does all I want to hear more about your Raspberry Pi actually I've got two actually cuz I didn't know you had that I've got one downstairs that is runs um py hole which is a hilarious name p hole Yeah it blocks ads um right use it as a you use it as your DNS server and it'll just stop ads from appearing it can break some legitimate websites though I don't support adock useful why not I'm cuz I I support by watching the

ads yeah actually I just pay I just I just pay websites money so don't the ads exactly I pay for Content so [ __ ] ads yeah um but no okay fair um so I have a Pyle and then I have another one that has uh retro Arch on it which is a Linux inst Linux drro that's specifically for um running emulators and it's completely legal and that's all I'm going to say about it but I recommend it yeah well as as long as you own the ROMs it is legal oh I definitely own them yeah 100% possession is n910 of the law would be on here if yeah yeah exactly how would I have gotten them how would I yeah okay all right you've almost talked I think a lot of sites even turn a blind eye a lot of places even turn a

blown eye to a lot of the ROM sites for like old games until they start no one technically but that's the thing a lot of these are from defunct Publishers that don't exist like who who owns the rights to some of these old games that was like Super Mario Brothers there was a site that was selling Nintendo games and Nintendo came after them and is of course Nintendo don't let anything slide did you guys realize recently somebody uploaded to Reddit one of the no no it wasn't even to Reddit it was to archive.org they uploaded scans of an old um Super Mario Brothers I think it was Super Mario Brothers 2 so if that gives you an indication of how old this is MHM yeah not cheap book like support book what am I trying to say the like H

guide H guide yeah yeah yeah the H guide shut Nintendo of like seasoned assist send them like lawyers sent the letters and it's like that is a 40y old book that supports a 40-year old game that not for sale anymore it's not even like that's taking sales already it just hopefully means that Nintendo are hopefully keeping their history there cuz that whole archive project is about keeping the history of games alive and what went through so if Nintendo has still got that great but a lot of stuff has been lost over the years oh next time you are in camb let's go to the um there's a game Museum here it's quite interesting oh really y [ __ ] I'd love that oh I'm there you just reminded me there's a I've read another article the other day there's a there's an open

source project I think it's on GitHub and it's called a little game called Mario and it's just like this open- Source video game but you can contribute to it and then so you can just make some contributions to it and then when you go for a job interview in the game industry no no but if you go for a job in the game industry they can go what have you worked on oh have you heard of a little game called Mario that's fantastic you do see some of these fan projects some of them I think they announce too early oh that's especially with especially with that like they announced it too early so it's not ready to release and in the shudio comes in and goes no you're not making that stop that right now what they need to do with

those fan projects is make it release it and then announce it and then go oh okay yep we'll stop but it's already out there well that's tough though because that's a lot of effort to put in like maybe they're like we should see if they're going to sue us like well they're going to soon no matter what some some don't some don't but if you're doing it as a fan project that you're not making no no the the whole idea about fan project the only way you're going to get away with it is if you don't charge for it that it is just a fan project a making and a release yeah sometimes they'll still see yeah but they they'll try but then when you go to court and go we we didn't make anything in fact it just cost us we just did this we've stopped it we've taken it off our

website I don't have any money it's not just making money it's if anyone would reasonably think that was brought out by the original publisher you can't do it too like it has to what are they swed me for I got nothing come at me also I'm not making any game you got all that I've seen I've seen plenty of Lego that you own they're not touching my Lego I'll hide that they could take that away from you Lego's all under my wife's name no Oh I thought you were implying that he owned all that Lego illegally oh no no just that they could take it I was like is that bootleg Lego I do you do have bootle I do have bootleg Lego and I hate because of the way it's packaged is it not called boot Lego it should be yeah cuz with Lego when it comes out

that and they haven't addressed it is that Murray the the talking skull head from is in this correct and fuel to that fire is that I don't know the story of how this came about but either he is now in cahoots with Disney who own the rights to the rest of the sequels or he has somehow bought the rights back I suspect did he lose the video game rights no so he said he very famously said that he would never make another Monkey Island game unless he owned the rights and in the trailer for this someone says I thought Ron Gilbert said there wouldn't be another Monkey Island Game unless and then it says a game by Ron Gilbert and then they but they don't

finish the sentence so the the implication is that in some or that he's sold out yeah one or the is he just working for himself now or is he working as part of a studio he works for himself he's got his own Studio like his independent who published um thimble weed Park it's I forget toy terrible Toy Box y terrible toy this is from so devolver digital is doing the new Monkey Island but it's Lucas film games like the trailer says it's Lucas film games I think which I think is interesting because it's Lucas film games again which it originally was then it was Lucas arts and now we're going with Lucas film games again yeah because they got two monkey Islands were Lucas they got rid of Lucas Lucas arts and Lucas

Arts games cuz I went we'll just send this out and get other [ __ ] to make it be fine and then that happened and then that was [ __ ] and so they went let's bring back but looks like theol digital the ones that are publishing this look I mean this is great news like I love Monkey Island I love monkey I will probably wait best I'll probably buy it about 2 to 3 weeks after it comes out why I'm going to wait for a walk [Laughter] through I don't have time to sit there and try and work it out myself and I even think playing a game like that with a walk through as long as you're still paying attention to like the dialogue it's still enjoyable it just doesn't get frustrating like what do I you know when you get to that stage of what do I need

complaining about the you know sending sending story ideas or or or short stories or sending stuff out and then how they don't even read them and he was like that's right we don't read them and you know why because then when I in in 10 years time come up with something slightly like that yes exactly then you can't say you [ __ ] stole [ __ ] there to you yeah like he he said do not send me stuff I will not read it I can't legally cuz it's it might even be like in 10 years time it's mayn't be something that you intentionally are I've remembered this I'm going to put this in it's just be that's what that's that's what he yeah he's like I just he said I just can't do it just in Cas so I will not read it oh that's interesting you see that's that must be
