some followup on kanyer West that I want to mention go on go on um uh well first up I I I noticed that Kanye was sorry ye or yay sorry it's yay was on the uh leex fridman podcast and I was like stop giving him a platform I'd be interested to hear what he has to say I [ __ ] turned it off after 5 minutes he is he's he's not interesting I just cannot listen to him he is such a I don't even know I I know he's they say he's got mental issues right but I just can't even listen to him it's just nonsense yeah nonsense it made me angry listening to him just not pay attention to what was being asked and just talk about how great he is and I turned it off but he's been dropped from Adas this

week because of his anti-semitic comments it took a while I think that one of the last ones to drop and they they did me they on the one hand I was like it's a bit on the nose to mention it but on the other hand I was like I guess it's sort of letting people know why it took so long apparently Kanye is a good chunk of added ass's money right they're going to lose a lot of money by doing this and but they but then also like okay did you really have to like mention that in the repeat yeah like I could sort of I could sort of see that they're sort of like like are we going to ride this out and just see because he's making us money so are people still going to go buy his shoes I think like quarter of their revenue comes from the [ __ ] they they do with

him like that's a lot of money so so so I think were probably discussions like if we keep him how much are we going to lose and if we cut him how much are we going to lose they were probably the discussions that were being had also they're like maybe he'll apologize and no he's he's doubling down further and okay fine yeah yeah oh always talking about Hitler now okay maybe we let him go maybe before this gets even worse we should do something if it could possibly get worse yeah an Instagram post he put Love Speech I lost $2 billion in one day he's complaining a bit but he's got the money's not who I am the people's who I am but you're making the people you're not making people happy for example insulting abusing his school that he owns his non accredited school which I

don't know why anybody would want to send their kids there has shut down not anymore man was it was it part of the church probably what kind of schol he's part of he's he's in that church like a music school or just a school school just a school God that's terrifying the da Academy oh my God this sentence the school was non- accredited classes reportedly included choir and parkour um I take it back this sounds amazing [ __ ] up because one of the things I did hear him say on Lex fridman was that basically all classes should just be engineering and then it should just be recess for the rest of the day because all that matters in the world is engineering Nothing Else Matters

especially not history history is a waste of time and we should stop looking at it and then it's in the past man Lex is like well I mean we can learn some stuff from history n no did you know that that Kanye printed a whole bunch of white lives Matter t-shirts and gave them to the homeless yes unfortunately I did he's just CAU in controversy Now isn't he he's just trying to get the biggest reaction he can he doesn't believe any of this he's just trying to the problem is I don't know cuz you listen to him and it I mean it sounds like he does sounds like he's just not look I don't think he believes I don't think he I think he just talks yeah and then people start listening to him when

he's going down a r and he goes oh hold on I've got a reaction with this R I'm going to go further down this way cuz people are reacting not not not making not looking at how they're reacting just they're reacting comments back there's there's a bit in this podcast at the start right and it's mainly the thing that made me turn off cuz I was just like this guy's [ __ ] annoying so he's talking about how it's subjective that there are the best writers in the world the people who are the best rid it's subjective it's not objective you know it's it's it's a fact and that obviously the fact is number one is Shakespeare and he starts talking about not he starts talking about you no because half was it some more than 50% of the words we use were written by him so therefore subjectively

he is and it's like oh [ __ ] what and then he starts talking about any high school student Shakespeare is the best he Kanye is top 10 writers in the world subjectively so so there Shakespeare Kanye and and eight others yeah and then they're talking about the engineering yeah it goes Shakespeare then Kanye then Timothy yeah yeah uh and then the woman who wrote the Twilight books um and then he goes Lex says something about you know I was talking about his engineering thing and Le says oh you just tell children you're just a when they're born you know you have a series of engineering problems to solve or something like that and then Kanye's like yeah you're a human with engineering solve problems to solve and

he starts writing that down and he goes mate I was already top 10 but you've just bumped me right up the list of writers and I like wait he wrote you didn't say that cuz you just stole that line from you just wrote down like and I was I like I said I just turned it off I was like this guy's a [ __ ] with wait so if I read Shakespeare out loud and take notes I'm as good a rider as Shakespeare is that is that how it's just nonsense no it's quite scary and the thing is I've because I've never been a fan of Kanye but this isn't new to me this is what I've seen of human interviews for decades yeah every time we've talked about him there's been elements of this but now he's getting into really dark [ __ ] that's the problem he's always been full of nonsense but

now it's like offensive the problem is we're still giving people a lot of money we're giving them these platforms to talk and giving them the audience and we're people the bad thing is is people are agreeing with what he's saying but are they or are they just listening like ju there there have been Kanye's right signs being posted up in places but here's the thing and Matt you touched on this last week I I don't like hip-hop but out of all the hip-hop artists Kanye is kind of not that bad you know what I mean like he's got talent he writes catchy songs yeah yeah I mean it's no accident that he's become a successful musician but just because he's a successful musician and writes you know I ain't saying she's a gold digger Etc yeah doesn't it doesn't mean that we

just should listen to whatever else he has to say as well and I don't understand where where those lines got blurred like we have to buy his clothes and listen to his ranting as well as just putting the tunes on he also I can't think of any other artists where that's the case like I mean I love David Bowie but like I don't go well what does David Bowie tell me I have to do with my day-to-day life sure say they can't have opinions the Jews what's one thing got to do with who cares what David Bo thinks about that he wouldn't have commented on it because it's irrelevant none of his business and he knows it ah ah yes I found I found the post up so it's yeah white supremacists who uh say like kaner's right well that doesn't surprise me no and also we don't need to

listen to them but also hold on I prefer not to can I can I point out the obvious conflict in in this yeah yeah yeah yeah sure white supremacists are using kanyer West as their spokesman of course that's like that's like solid gold he agrees with them it really it really is for them you know what I mean it's like it's like double haven't you seen like you you've heard the stories where they bring someone who goes like this person is africaner and they agree with us and they try and use them to go freedom of speech is also freedom to just turn off the radio so I just don't happy we don't have freedom of speech in [Laughter] Australia dropped by Adidas and then

apparently headed down to the sketches office in LA with a camera crew or or filming something of course presumably to drum up you know some kind of controversy that he was going to sign up with them or something like that so they immediately escorted him from the building and then issued a statement says we are not and will not be working with Kanye or or ye or yay sorry so let's clear this up he didn't tell us he was coming down he just showed up and we kicked him out we did not invite him yeah yeah there's nothing going on here Christ yeah okay here's the thing I I I love talking about Kanye but [ __ ] I hate listening to him and I can't even look at his face now because I just want to punch that smug [ __ ] right in

like I said I tried I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt and I couldn't even make it like 5 minutes in cuz I was just like this guy's just an idiot now I've seen him live in concert Kanye West and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and it was [ __ ] amazing that would be amazing it was [ __ ] but what I think I don't think amazing because of him I don't think amazing because of him though I think just any artist even if we want to give him the total credit for it even if it was his idea and he was the band leader and he he drummed the whole thing up himself Kudos no one's saying he's not a good musician no one is saying that although his behavior on that podcast does make me wonder how much he CLA and the other thing I was going to say is this week he came out

and he said he said oh yeah Quenton Tarantino stole the idea for jangu Unchained off me and then quent Tarantino was on Kimmel or something and said well that's not true what happened is he came up with the idea to to do like a kind of slave theme for the gold digger music video and I told him that was a good idea independently of the fact that I had already been making this movie he said there are two separate EV which is also partially a remake of an existing film from the 70s anyway kane west did not give me the idea for Jang and I think we should move on but I think the real problem is is people are listening to him agreeing with like remember when he said he was running for president like in that ill planned out ill thought out nothing he

had supporters to leave this country AR I yeah there's there's proof that that can work like when Donald Trump said he was running for president everyone laughed then he became the president well not every not everyone was laughing for the same reasons apparently Dan yeah yeah some people were chuckling monly to themselves great idea yeah here we go speaking of speaking of and of free speech and whatnot M and and Megalania taking taking the spotlight he's taking over Twitter as of Thursday he's the boss whether he wanted to or not and and he has really taken over he's really enjoyed taking it over so there's been some funny mixed news this just today actually right so he's he's

fired the CEO and the CTO apparently that's true then today I saw a lot of Articles popping up about how he was just firing everybody and they were interviewing people outside the building people with boxes of stuff saying oh yeah I was a data you know data engineer kind of stuff apparently those people didn't work for Twitter and they were just [ __ ] around so so if you if you like me saw those articles and were like oh that's intense he's firing everybody see see when I B corporate shutdown we should just go and hang outside with boxers and be like uh we've just been fired listen to the multiple nerdgasm podcast available wherever you see I I I heard the story that be fire but I didn't I thought like if you it would have been all management types

you're not going to fire you day one he might who knows what the [ __ ] he's going to do but I just thought it was but a smart person you're not hiring the people who are working day one it just goes to show the modern climate of of of media like these guys showed up with boxes started telling everybody oh yeah our whole team's just been laid off and then it became news immediately and then scramble later to to say oh actually that's not true but I forget what it's called too late there are people out there who think that's still true because they won't have seen the retractions yeah and we'll always just think that's true well even if you look at this retraction on this article we've got here the retraction is in the update

the title still says yes people were just laid off and that's all people read a lot these days why are you looking at me when you're saying that Luke I there's a there's a there's a I forget what this is called but it's where like one part one they'll write an article one paper and another one will write another and then they start referencing each other and then it's just a so there's a book called trust me lying by Ryan holiday about it it's very interesting he's the guy us to do marketing for American Apparel and he used to pull he used to do [ __ ] like this on purpose mhm cuz yeah and then when you try and actually filter through to find out where it is it's everyone just referencing each other and you don't know where the light actually

originated from anymore but everyone's reporting it as fact because well they said it but here's the thing too I mean this kind of stuff this might have been an accident and might have just been people [ __ ] around but there are PR companies out there who are paid to do this kind of stuff on purpose too like I remember I when I was working for the Ad Agency we had this uh one job for I don't know if I'm allowed to say but you've already said American Apparel so it was H&M and uh and they had they had a launch and they literally this PR hired actors to just form a huge que around the block so that media Outlets would go and report that there wases around the blog and there was but they were they were paid to be there it's actually a problem we've got with the

internet now is because with a news article espe news you don't want to be you can't really spend the time you wanted to check facts as much anymore because well no I'm talking about if if you wait too long people have already read the article and people aren't going to click on your link one of the things he us as an example in the book is there was a he was hired to do some marketing for for this author who'd written a book that had generally very good reviews but had apparently made some some extreme feminists angry right so what they did was they put a billboard up for the book and then they then also paid somebody to deface the billboard with some feminist propaganda and then they emailed Gawker and and said oh feminist hate this book and then so they all blogs started

writing about it and then when it's a slow news day the the actual news in quotes just looks at what you know those websites are saying and pool stuff and that kind of stuff and it became huge news and it was all [ __ ] and it was just like some small very small fist extremist group that really where there's nothing wrong with the book no the whole thing was just marketing like like from the the he came up with the whole thing it was nonsense just because yeah somebody had said oh yeah there's you could always find someone who doesn't like something but you guys know Edward Beres Edward beray um see the s I know he is delicious yeah um there's this great book called the century of the self um which is about how before the 20th century people only had one

pair of shoes at a time because why would you need more than one pair of shoes and in the 20th century essentially shoe companies were like we want people to continually buy shoes whether they need them or not and so that's when marketing was invented and there this this this guy who worked on Madison Avenue in New York City and he was kind of credited as being the first PR guy and his thing was always get paid twice for doing each one job for example he got one client that was the bacon people and one client that was the egg people took money from both of them to promote their products and put up a billboard saying the perfect breakfast is bacon and eggs and that to this day is why you eat bacon with eggs that's

amazing oh I might go get bacon eggs after this yeah I'm it's it's bloody dinner time what are you talking about that all day breakfast does all day breakfast end like does it get to dinner time they all day breakfast is over anyone if I go to a if I've go to a cafe that says all day breakfast outside and when I get in they go oh that ends at 6 I get [ __ ] lied day 24 hours 24 hours in a day yeah let's move on to some entertainment stuff that'll keep yes Kanye West Entertainer uh I watched the TV show that I want to talk about brief I assume

you guys haven't seen it so I don't want to say too much I do want to recommend it however I haven't watched the last episode and I'm curious how it's going to keep this up I'm watching The Watcher on Netflix not to be confused with the Witcher or the Watchmen or the watch the movie from the 2000s it's a TV show yep or 80s classic horror movie Watcher in the woods it's also not that one it's not that either no no it's a new Netflix series came out a couple weeks ago starring Naomi Watts and that guy who plays ant-man's wife's new husband I forget Bobby Bobby Bobby Bobby Carnaval okay he's in there anyway uh and it's got uh [ __ ] me it Luke have you got it on

screen or did you just [ __ ] know that I've got it on screen at Wikipedia I'm assuming it's this guy Mia phoh is in it which I didn't even I do find it weird that someone's going by the name Bobby is she stop being Bobby when you're an does Mia faroh say anything defamatory about um no Woody Allen Woody Allen during the show I'm surprised doesn't come I've not heard her say I've not heard her say anything else for I'm not sure her character gives a [ __ ] about that so they've got Richard kind it's it's a [ __ ] cool so far so I don't want to say anything F he says so far his one episode from the end he's like but this could all derail man real it could it could though right because don't look up too much Luke because the oh no I'm just looking up cast the

premise is there's a family Richard kind there's a family who moves they buy a house they live in New York City and they want to move to out of the city out of the city no they move to New Jersey they buy a a house in New Jersey that they potentially can't afford and the husband kind of does some stuff to to to make to get the money to do it that kind of stuff they move into this house and then strange stuff starts happening the okay the they start getting letters in the mail from someone called The Watcher who's kind of um some creepy letters uh all the characters in it are excentric and interesting in a kind of David Lynch kind of way where they're like I mean the premise was almost a bit David Lynch I'm I'm reminded highway it's less surreal it's more like first season Twin

Peaks than later do get first season is the only season I can stand so that's fine by me so far and the thing I like about it is that like it does it gets it gets weirder and weirder and crazier and crazier but it's all like like every person in it you're like it could be them like every single [ __ ] character you're like I don't know who it is like it could be any of these people it's really cool could it be stiffler's mom but the mom is in it yeah it's got she will never be able to play any and and be called by that character's name for the rest of Herer she will always be stiff she is fantastic in this I like everybody is so I'm going to have to watch it cuz I'm really enjoying it and I'm worried is a cast of comedians no it is it is funny but it's

not a comedy it's funny in like it's you know twin funny right but it's not a comedy it's that's why it's quite like that I think and the Mystery is good I've I saw it's not got great scores which I don't really care about but it did make me concerned that maybe it's not going to wrap up in a satisfactory manner which will which will be annoying but I've really enjoyed the ride so I recommend it anyway look I think if if they're smart any TV show that goes to Netflix end be able to end in one season cuz you probably not get the second one it's true yeah but yeah I I don't know if it would need one hopefully not man limited series are the best I I like that this is a thing now although they they're not always leaning into it but just here's a

story we've told it move on if you liked it give us money and we'll make you a completely new story next year sort of like what they did with American Horror even though I never watched American hor horror but it's the whole like if you like what we've done give us more money we'll we'll come back and we'll make another story for you I totally agree and that's a good example except that in my opinion only the first two two and a half series are even worth watching but yes that's what stranger think were supposed to be well yeah also um what was it um miracle workers I don't know it's got like oh it's a it's a show three seasons every season is very very different it's got um Harry Potter in it okay well that's why I the mighty got the character Harry Potter in it yeah

Harry Potter did you guys watch Mighty bo back back in the day only never seen it never seen it of course it's probably on it's probably on Brit box it was a man it was a Nazi man yeah that's right um they completely they started off in a zoo yeah they just completely changed it so they were two same characters yes he does yep uh in the very first episode but the the second season they just ran a flat together and it's a completely different story line involving the two characters the third season yeah they they work in a in like a brick or Brack shop and subjectively the best episode is the the horror of Milky Joe yes very good episode but also the crack Fox is all the way crack Fox is good that's who I was quoting before yeah but I just

find them so weird because it's not like their careers sort of went very strange after that that after that you don't think that show was weird you know I think it's we you should see the live show it was based on yeah right but then goes off and does like the great great Great British Bake Off and things like that take the money they offer you that's I loveing I got to say and I do think it it does make me laugh that he's on a show like that now because you watch him even on um he's on big fat quiz you've probably seen that Luke yeah and like there's one where he's on there with Russell Brand and it's just two [ __ ] absurd goth looking dudes making these really really abstract and to me very funny jokes and then he goes on the Great British baking show and he's just

wholesome gets paid a billion dollar I have a YouTube channel for you Oz Martin was Martin this is this is unofficial unofficial TV streamer he does some great work and I think we'll have a lot of what you're looking for wink wink just don't send video because no he's very much uh he gets a lot of stuff up and I don't know how but he's also very much like I'm not monetizing I'm just doing this that would be illegal that would be illegal but it's also like he's just trying like and he even says like if if you can watch it in your country watch it in your country and do what you do to support it he's just like a get a half Stu I found it it's Oz Martian but I've found it oh sorry it's all right just

countdown in Australia we call it letters and numbers but they're doing the comedy version of that in Australia I think starts this week or something mhm cool yeah he's he's doing very well he's always done stuff yeah funny guy not that Young's another same age as us I think there another TV actor who's doing okay for himself this week um yes and that's that's TV actor and film Enthusiast Henry Cav star of the screen very much stick to it yeah he knows he knows what what he's good at no he says he says to hell with that I'm going to be in some movies listen to me Superman Henry you're doing great everyone's loving this the work he doing I mean in his defense he's just

continuing to do what he's already been doing apparently he's still going to be Superman yeah well apparently it took him a while to convince them that he should still be Superman right there's some other DC news if we if we if we want to really just lean into it I'm excited for excited for this DC news same we'll see honestly I don't I think I'm excited for for who it's about I'm excited for him good on him we're doing that thing again I know oh yeah James gun yes has been appointed co-ceo of DC Studios now so what is different though because yeah and they should have it and if anyone's going to do a good job I think James gun can do it yeah but so he's now sort of in charge of both in a way because he's

is all of the MCU Kevin FY who we always say is you know the reason Marvel does he wasn't the CEO of Marvel right no that's true wasn't wasn't he just one of their head writers and executive producer you might be right yeah well I think James gun's not in charge of like all of DC just the film stuff right like I well that's fine yeah yeah Comics or whatever yeah it's DC Studios is there film yeah but uh if I mean if he's going to be the one going that's garbage don't do that yeah I think I think that's what it is I think and I think they're giving him that role to sort of entice him over a little bit more so CU he still going to finish Guardians 3 y I think they that'll come out and then he gets to go over there and I think he's still

going to be in a very tough spot because DC aren't going to want to start fresh but they're going to want to get rid of stuff so he's yeah but can you imagine how you do that imagine they do Batman v Superman 2 and it's got Henry caval and [ __ ] Ben Affleck bag but it's [ __ ] great good like that's all I want you know what I mean like I want what's happened already to just be better so I'm happy with them not just he's probably coming on at a very good time because what's going to happen with The Flash movie when they're going to basically get rid of all these characters and recast them all I think that's what's going to happen in Flash mo I think that's the whole idea behind it he s to give them a fresh he's just going to destroy the universe yes and

then it's going to disappear up his own ass and the universe the characters the characters that people like and haven't been abusing people so fast he actually went up his own ass what happened but yeah go back in time and strike himself with lightning so they'll keep Harley Quinn but they're going to get rid of Batman they're going to get rid of get rid of Batman what are you doing no no no I meant recast so they going keep yeah they'll keep man he's not the problem that's the he won do it I think he was great he won't do it he got burnt yeah he did yeah um doesn't he still have one that he ow him I think he got away with a Cho in something right yeah okay but what are they doing with Robert is he just Batman now like if there's a new Batman versus

Harley Quinn is it going to be Robert Pon versus Marg Robbie like is is that now no cuz they're separate those yeah that would make any sense world together doesn't make any sense but that's what I mean but also like then there's Joker too where lady gagar plays yeah no remember this is why I think this is why they brought James gun in they're confusing it by having this universe over here and then we've also got these other movies that have the same characters what Marvel did well and I and I I think they also tried to do it with Star Wars but it was too little too late by the time they got their hands on that I don't have you been watching Andor no do you know why cuz I don't like Star Wars watch it I I know I know it's good but but I don't like Star Wars

don't don't think of it as Star Wars honestly take the Star Wars out of it it's good is he um as evil as you wanted him to be luke not yet okay he's got the kids tied up downstairs but so far that type of evil he's just a he'll sh a lovable Rogue no he's not even lovable okay isn't he he he's he's very much no loves nobody they they've tried unlovable trust me watch it I'm going to go I'm a couple episodes behind I'm going to go watch after this is it finished I'm no it's 12 episodes or something and there another season already and the good thing is is even with this there is a finite timeline they can't just keep dragging this out forever but they can actually sort of

show building up yeah okay challenge accepted you can watch it building up to Rogue one y and then that can just be the finale they could just film one episode less than they were going to PO up the money and um speak Rogue one yeah Parts one and two the uh so I after last week's conversation I went and did some research and I did a deep deep dive into Thundercats right did you so so come at me with your questions because Thundercats as it turns out the catell is some fantastic 80s science fiction and um I was thinking about how they just don't make that [ __ ] like this anymore and then I thought maybe this generation

thinks uh Clone Wars is that and power to them I just can't watch it because it seems too kidy for me whereas well you yeah exactly they have tried to bring back some of those old shows and I know it is sort of going back to the world but like they've tried it with vulture on stuff which they're not bad but they just don't capture that and I think it's because there wasn't wasn't storytelling was different your kids think about your kids yeah do they have access to one channel or do they have access to thousands of choices social media I know you lock it down but really she has access to I don't lock it down that hard to be honest she only requests one video though and it's it's a video of the count and that's all she wants to watch so but I mean well maybe it's not the

best time to ask but in a few years they're going to have like a choice but when we were growing up it's you got home and you could watch has choices but did you know that there were social media influencers for babies there are and she watches them some of them have made a lot of money and then like you look at some of their views that they'll have on YouTube and they've got like 48 million I mean as an adult they're unwatchable but they have tapped into something because my daughter [ __ ] seeks she knows how to work the remote because she knows how to navigate to this what it what is it yeah it's this woman called Miss Rachel it's her favorite and she just sits in her bedroom with her iPhone and just sings kids songs and and then just like picks

up toys and goes what's this toy does a little man fit inside and [ __ ] Harper a why are you making it sound sexual it's just the way it's just Dan it's just cuz it's Dan to be honest I was joking that I wanted to do a mashup of just all the things she says that sounds really sexual because she does inadvertently do that um but if I I could just swing this back around to Thundercats cuz that's where he stud res you're very excited to bring it up this is what I'm this is what yes I'm doing my PhD at the moment on Thunder Cat my one topic that I know luk you ask what's it about I'll tell you yes yeah go on Planet full of humanoid cats on the brink of Extinction one just having sex one rocket ship no no the planets on the brink of Extinction yeah yeah that's the planet

arrive the guy who's been piling the ship is long dead like he sacrificed himself to to to skeleton steering well do you remember there was old man ghost who used to occasionally show up Ben Kenobi Style no I don't no right that was him though that's him just watch the opening credits right at the end they're like and this ghost so he's also they had the settings wrong on lono's stasis chamber which is why when he came out of it his body has aged but his mind hasn't um which is no sense because I mean you you you mentioned the the sexy semi-clothed uh character of uh cheetah right um who was like a good 20 years older than him the day before and

now is like you're hot and it's like still a kid yeah but he's quite hot now so she's she's into that I'm going to take it back I I'm going to I did say that doesn't make sense but it actually does make sense because while his body he hasn't been experiencing anything so yeah yep yep y retract yeah it's it's more like that if you just just didn't pay attention to anything for 20 years you you would have an older body but you'd still have the mind of a child cuz he learning any lessons along the way um mamra is there because it's Earth and there are Egyptian mummies and because of magic he's back to life but the the weird thing about it is you said you'd explain it and that's the explanation Space Magic it'll do but I was expecting more no no no but his

motivation okay for starters he is the only human being in the entire show huh but he's a mummy well he was a human being and and preserved and that's but but he represents the entirety of the human race and he objects to our planet being invaded by humanoid cats from another planet so if anything so he's just trying to protect with him a little bit yeah that's right so that's what the conflict is they the the now royal family of this cat planet are like well I guess we live here and we rule here now and mra's like the [ __ ] you do yeah right yeah I'm sort of on hiside like they've ruined their own Planet yeah and now they're here to ruin yours yep yeah H pretty good though like yeah

not a bad epically sci-fi yeah I mean if they weren't cats if they were just some random alien it it wouldn't even have that camp angle you know it is odd like the cat angle just I mean it's it's cool but like yeah yeah just a little out there I don't think they'd make that still it's it's it's no Robotech it's literally not Robotech no it's not I would say it's Robotech adjacent though I would say you know when you watch Rober Tech and you get that sense that you're really watching a really wellth thought out Universe this has that same thing uh Robotech is not a really wellth thought out Universe it's a bunch of Japanese television shows together three different yeah yeah yeah if you read the books but they had great writers to make

it seem like it was one no no I'm just I'm just being a dick no no if you read all the books it's actually very interesting where they go into more about what oh oh I can't even remember what power say ships that's embarrassing petrol unobtainium it is sort of it is pretty much alanium jez it comes from a spaceship that crashes on kyber Crystal oh yeah but that that evidently the rootch movie is still happening yeah yeah they're going to get to it right after um Ryan Johnson's Trilogy they've just got to wait for the the three Japanese movies they're going to construct it out off to finish shooting and then some American Writers who don't speak a word of Japanese and aren't given transcripts they just going

to watch them decide what to pick and choose and then just make up their own story uh H I can still be excited it's going to be terrible movie I know it is it might not but but but they got a new director okay that's that's always a good sign where they completely change direction directors keep resigning well yeah I think it's not I think it's more so they bring someone on and then nothing happens and that person goes guys I need to go and get a job yeah am I am I directing a movie or what am I doing here yeah yeah you've given me the office you haven't actually given me any pay yet though so do you guys know Reese Thomas no not personally did he go to our school evidently he's now attached to it as the Director what did he do um British director producer actor and

comedian did last Saturday Night Live a producer give me director seems like a very odd Choice oh uh Hawkeye oh maybe maybe that's okay maybe I'm okay with that that show was good I liked hawkey and he did got to do three episodes so okay all right yeah yeah that was great speak in Hawkeye that gives me a Segway uh I've been playing Marvel snap oh if you guys been playing Marvel Marvel snap it's the latest craze in uh mobile games that I at first poo pooed and then I was like I'll install it and now I'm addicted to it now he's right is it snap as in the card game snap no it is a card game it's like uh it's like a faster less like boring version of like Hearthstone and those kind of games well

you collect a deck of cards that are made of Marvel Superheroes they've all got abilities you play around against an actual human online there's three locations you can put your cards and then each location has like a different ability or or something going on with it and then you play cards and the cards do different things and then you and each each each game takes like 2 minutes yeah oh okay I'm I'm worried cuz I've played some of these games in the past before and I've come in too late and then all these people know how to play and are got these really big decks and I go how do I play and I get destroyed but I'm going the name of this episode I think it is no I think well this does I mean I didn't have that experience but it only came out like a

week ago I'm over 13 we know that he just texting Kevin spy and Kevin is like oh never mind then yeah wrong number I'm assembling at the moment oh you you install it I'll put that down though new reputation who this I'll play this after it's it's pretty fun um you yeah you play cards out this there the locations are a good little add- on to it and probably other games that do this I've not really played them much though so I I'm enjoying it well yeah it's the type of thing you have to constantly keep little updates con happening all the time so the whales no they want the whales looks pretty good but I won't play it but it does look pretty good it's fine and it's like I said the games

are quick so you can kind of just you know smash a little game out like it's not like why are you pooping yeah absolutely you can do a few you play a few rounds while you're pooping and it makes I I don't know whe they they're probably doing something to to make it they make me feel like I'm good at it kind of thing either either I'm doing well or they're just really they've got some algorithm that's matching me up with people in a way where yeah like it just makes me feel like I'm doing well you know what I mean or maybe this is a game for kids and you're an adult and you're just you're just kids cuz there's things you got to do like there's there's so like there's a location where as soon as you play a card you can only have four cards at any

given location there's one location where you play a card and it will replicate it it'll fill the whole thing up with copies of that card which is very powerful um but if you play the wrong card obviously you waste it because you you it could have had better potential but there's also cards like Iron Fist that says play this card then the next card you play will be moved after you play it so you can do weird [ __ ] like you play Iron Fist then you play a card on the the duplicating one it's called bar Sinister and then it'll you play a card that card will get shuffled to the next location but then you get a bunch of duplicates of it and you do this crazy [ __ ] like it's not I don't like it's it's more complicated than you would think for just hurry up

and sponsor Marvel snap yeah it's not a kids game I guess is what I'm saying there's more to it you know what suddenly hit me that is a thing that I want right you remember Pokémon go I'm sure it probably still exist but I played it for play it every now and again I played it for a weekend thought it was really really fun but just couldn't I mean I don't care about Pokémon um you know what they should make they should do a Lovecraft version of that imagine if it was exactly Pokémon go but it was like there's a shogo down at the [ __ ] docks near you I I they've tried other versions and while it does sound great love CRA it won't take off well look it's HP love cat they've tried don't say his name don't say his name they've tried it they've

tried it with um the name is password to get to the next level wow don't type it in you need to make a decision don't you yeah they did a Harry Potter one which is shut down they did the origin one shut down I think there was a Ghostbusters one that sort of came and went very quickly I think the big the big problem you've got with a lot of them is there's not a lot more you can introduce whereas what they're doing Pokémon it's you start off with the original 152 and then hey we're going to release these ones and we're going to release so people back to Pokémon like it was catch them there's a reason behind it like when you've got like Harry Potter well what do you do what do you cat what you what what broomsticks kids from the school you had to sort of

walk around and sort of fight PE fight things and then you get cards and characters it's yeah my favorite part of the uh Pokémon go phenomenon was that subreddit where people would try to get Pokémon go AR characters onto nudity so be like look I'm doing my girlfriend from behind and there's a squirtle on her back it's Magikarp I'm [ __ ] Magikarp like we always wanted guys come live your fantasies through me don't click that link at work I played something quite good this week for the 4 and a half minutes they allowed me to play it I played the demo of the Nintendo switch version of Resident Evil Village it's good that's one with a tall vampire lady is it not not in the 4 and a half minutes I was

allowed to play of it but yes is it was the demo the actual start of the game or does it like Plum I don't believe so I believe well you tell me I was in a castle looking for my daughter is that the start of the game no not yet no and uh I think this was the original demo that you could download for like PlayStation when it was about to launch on that and they' just reused that um this isn't even play to the end of the level this is literally a timed demo so I was taking my my I really taken my time with it and then it was like your Demo's over but sorry mate it played better than I was expecting for stars it's Cloud great game it's cloudbased which annoys me um yeah what meaning so

you can't play it offline oh and you don't you don't download the whole game the download takes 2 minutes really of these no the the full game will be cloud-based as well it hasn't been released yet that's fascinating it gets released this week or next week but uh it streams it to the console correct huh fascinating um which I thought was going to be problematic in terms of gaml but we're fine now yeah it was absolutely fine and in fact cuz I've I've found a couple of the higher end games that I've tried to play well no just Arc to be honest ran really poorly and I thought oh okay maybe I need to kind of cap my expectations to certain types of games but this runs just fine this I mean and I think the key might

have been that I had not played this on the Xbox cuz I think perhaps if I played this on the Xbox first I would notice all the down resing but yeah smaller screen helps too if you're only playing small screen oh yeah I play it hand Cloud games and stuff I still prefer install stuff to the Xbox or the PC just because it's it's better running from there um cuz you you won't get S sometimes you get like little glitches and things like that when stream but it's it's it's fine these days as long as you got decent internet which Matt does so I do I still play PC games on GeForce now oh actually Dan you will have good internet suit cuz I think with new houses all new houses get built fiber to the premise yeah there you go yeah and

I'm running I'm on [ __ ] hotel Wi-Fi at the moment and it still is okay so yeah I'm I'm really I'm really excited Village is excellent and I think a new DLC just came out for it actually you reminded me but but that yeah that game is very I mean even this little demo was creepy as [ __ ] yeah and it changes tone too because you've got a bunch of bad like there's a kind of a set of bad guys and each one has kind of a slightly different theme so I see nice nice nice nice nice yeah so I'm all in I'm all in played that um and then I just played through the entirety of the original Doom which is just never not going to be a good game yeah like just every now and again I'll be like [ __ ] it I'm play through Doom you know I can only really play through the first three

levels for some reason I think that's because I had a sh we copy of it when I was growing up and that's all I played yeah that's what you're nostalgic for no I'm I'm the same but uh um it does get gets quite challenging I game I played at p in their PC retro area that brought back memories was alycat oh my God what yes God that was fun that's it and yeah cuz I I I was waiting to play other people play just not knowing what they're doing and then I jump down and all comes back and I'm Wait playing and is it like a remake of it no no they just had an old they had old computer sitting up in the Retro area but it was just game is not if you don't know what

the [ __ ] you're supposed to do no because it's not like games today where it's oh you got to a new area let me explain what you meant to do yeah I don't even remember it's a room stuff of some sort So you you're in an alley and then you jump into windows and then some windows you need to collect the mice from cheese or you need to knock a fish bowl over or you need to drink all the do the water from the dogs bowls like it's all different but it doesn't tell you what you need to do when you get in there no you just figure it out yeah I'm going to get a huge cheese with a whole lot of mice in the hole yes that's right yeah and they pop up in the holes you have to run up and get them mhm yeah what a great game God that was fun that I have spent

hundreds of hours on yeah and it's not like there's an end to it it's just that you just keep playing and gets harder until you die and then you don't go again speaking of great games I finished I finished secret uh return to Monkey Island it was great oh and yeah yeah no I recommend it it's great it was lovely to pop back into that world I really enjoyed it I've only played literally 2 minutes of it just to pop it on and have a look and it was it was lovely um yeah it's great I you can spoil I don't mind but do you stay as a kid or do you grow up no no I assume you went back into the fantasy at some stage uh okay not not a fantasy no that that that whole being a kid thing plays out in it pretty neat way really okay

nice all right cool and uh yeah the game literally made me laugh out loud in Parts just the writing was quite funny like there's a bit it's not a spoiler as such there's a bit where you encounter an old character from the old ones which is nice and then you're trapped somewhere and then you get out and then there's a the premise of it is that guy brush is telling a story to somebody and then that per so you you says You Escape and you go move on then the person it cuts back out to the the story being told and the person goes well hang on what happened to the other guy and garish is like sorry what that's not part of this story anyway and it's just really well done I cannot wait to play it just got to wait until it comes

to somewhere with when it comes to Microsoft essentially I don't care if it comes to PC or Xbox just come to Microsoft it's on PC it's not on Microsoft for [ __ ] sake I need the achievements um of 100% of the other two games we're going to 100% this one um so in other games news Well we can get into this bayoneta voice actor drama cuz this just story just keeps growing yeah I don't know what to think about this and I don't want to I'm confused now yeah I don't want to assume anything either way what what happened is bayetta 3's I think has just come out and a couple weeks ago or or or fairly recently the voice actress Helena who played the main character in the original two games said on

Twitter uh they offered me [ __ ] all $4,000 to come back and the sprting even actively called for people to Bo boycott the game she said they only offered to pay me four grand so I said no and so I think everyone should boycott the game because that's disgusting and then she said Jennifer hail's apparently taken over and then kind of I don't know exactly what she said but then people started having to go at Jennifer hail and jennif Hal's whoa whoa whoa yeah she was like who I don't know anything about this [ __ ] right I'm just got hired to do a game and she said also please bear in mind a lot of people worked on this game very hard please don't boycott it on because of whatever this is right yeah you know apologies whatever and then the creator of the game who's

notoriously uh grumpy Japanese guy he tweeted once he said if you don't tweet me in Japanese I will block you I do not speak any langues other than he goes refer to my rules and his rules are basically if you if you do anything to piss him off or tweet him not in Japanese he just Blocks he's just he just does not give a [ __ ] taking a [ __ ] yeah and he basically said lies and uh now it's come out that she was offered $115,000 which is actually apparently like I said I'm I'm going go on off what people are saying for the amount of days of work is quite good it's a little bit above industry standards supposedly please correct me if I'm wrong but she thinks this franchise is worth so much money that she should have gotten more

and then they basically just said nah all right fine we'll get someone else this is our budget for this part of the process and then they came back and offered her a smaller amount for five sessions to do a cameo they said do you still want to be in it in any capacity and that's what she talking about so now everybody that was the four grand so now everyone's turned on her cuz they were like you [ __ ] lied you got us all worked up into a froth and got us mad at this company and now it turns out you weren't telling the truth yeah so so I don't know what to think and yeah I don't know I can kind of see where she's coming from in terms of like when you're angry then when you tell the story of why you're angry you leave out the parts that don't make you angry

because they're not what's making you angry right now unforunately you've given everybody the wrong impression yeah if you're doing it on a public platform then they're going to find out the bits that you left out of that story what it sort of sounds like to me and I may be wrong but it sounds like they offered her money and she went no you want me back for a third one I'm going to hold out for a bit more money and you can't make the game without me and then they called her Bluff and just went somewhere else then she's gone oh [ __ ] then still did the right thing by her and came back and went would you take a little bit of money a lot less work and she and that made him even more angry and cuz the other thing is people are saying that she's saying something

like I forget the number the figure that she keeps throwing out there she's saying it's like a uh multi-million dollar I forget the figure I don't want to quote because I don't remember she's saying it's the the franchise makes this much money and people saying I don't think it does people saying it doesn't she just pulled some numbers off this steam website that says something about it's something about like numbers of sales or whatever anyway I don't know the specifics but apparently the numbers she thrown around are not accurate so perhaps she's gotten either she's gotten some bad advice from her agent at the time said you can get more or she's just she's just taken it upon herself to say you can pay me more than that and

they like yeah I've no I've played the first two and they're not bad games but they're not they're not it's not a triaa title it's flying off the shelf and look and this is not evidence of anything really but the fact that this woman is not a voice actor generally speaking she's done this and and not much else Jennifer hail is a very in demand voice actor for video games the fact that we love Jennifer hail but the fact that they got Jennifer hail to do it tells me the figure can't have been that bad yeah they must have had some decent money either that or she doesn't have some reason they just didn't want this woman to do it I think it may have just been pissed off that they they think they offered her a decent amount and then that she th threw it back in their faces maybe her

expectations were were a little I think either her expectations were were not aligned with reality or they didn't want her to do it for some reason do we know if Jennifer hail got paid the same amount no because she's a professional and she hasn't had any of this garbage yeah and not only that even if she did end up getting paid more it's like if this woman was trying to bargain and they're like well we're not going to pay you 20 grand and then she's like well I'm out of here and they're like well we want a professional now we'll get Jennifer hail maybe we will pay her the 20 grand yeah she's worth know that she's going to be yeah exactly right she's a professional we know what we're going to get the thing is has brought the reason why people jumped onto this

so quickly is there is a problem with voice actors getting screwed over a lot yeah voice actors composers this stuff always comes up because it's not value well you even look at and then you even look at like some games and um companies they'll just go oh we're just going to get like our staff just the voice and then that's just part of your job now not we're not going to have to pay you extra and so yeah voice actors talking about gearbox you can name names gearbox Roost named them before yeah yeah gearbox and rooster teeth do both the same yeah you you work here so you can just voice this for us and then oh you want to get paid for it nah I guess on that note though I don't want to poo poo them but gearbox I think possibly I could be wrong on this and please don't take this

the wrong way but I think in a in a in a way they're a unique case because I think it would be fun to work at qbox and to do a voice in the game and I know probably I should get paid more but I feel like i' probably do it anyway yeah he' offer to do it but then it's border that's what start think the atere there is different to what you you know we're talking about this in a very she's a voice actor is very serious I think the atmosphere at gearbox in that scenario is not yeah it doesn't really apply you know but I think that it also depends what level of employer you are like I think uh like like the the Nazi voices in wolfen are just the ID guys yeah talking a microphone right yeah exactly

my so like but they're not going to be like well since I've recorded this I'm just going to take a little bit of extra money but then again they're doing a profit share anyway if you were just the receptionist and they came down and went can you come and do a voiceover for me for no extra cash maybe that's different I I think the problem is the first time it's fun and then then the second time third time that's when you go what what PA well I think cuz the problem with the problem with Borderlands was that and again I could be wrong about this but I think the guy was doing clap trap was just expected that he would do clap trap in addition to his normal duties now but clap trap became like a main [ __ ] character so it was like a little different yeah hold on yeah it's this is

me doing an hour or two you but if I was working as a programmer at gearbox and Randy pitchf was like a funny voice and i' be like I can do tons of funny Voices Randy I'll do whatever voice you want yeah and everyone does but yeah I just think it's the second and third time Matt you know where you can do whatever you want um I can do all the funny voices I want but not get paid any money this podcast the I've been doing funny voices and not getting paid for it for years some of them in the after party some of them I'm not allowed to do anymore but if you go listen old episodes you'll hear them not the old old episodes though no no no some of the some of the voices I used to

do are scrubed at this point there's going to be people out there who have all of them I don't even have all of them do you know what I wish right and I know this is very selfish cuz I the only reason I want someone else to do this is because I can't be bothered is I was thinking the other day it would be neat if we had like a Wiki for all of our episodes so we could just look up stuff cuz I was thinking it would be good to do compilations of things but I'm [ __ ] lazy [ __ ] that yeah so I almost I just wish we had an audience that was big enough and willing enough to just much like the staff of gearbox to you just do work for free I always think uh yeah exactly I always think it could happen while editing each episode if

there were particularly funny bits you just drag them into a bin but even that sometimes you a lot of extra yeah and that too that too yeah or even just I was thinking what if if we just had a Wiki that just told me what episodes did we have geek of the week and who was who was it that was the thing I was thinking of was who was the geek of the week in every episode yeah I don't remember who was geek of the week last week well that's and then I was like that's an insurmountable t i remember who wasn't Angela Lansbury so anyway listen if you for some reason want to volunteer to do this yeah I would love it and if not 300 episodes go listen to the Afterparty and we can tell you it's funny because we've actually already recorded it because we
