Look But Don’t Touch: Infinity War Spoilers Discussion

Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy so hinda is dead y hey we gave everyone plenty of warning we did we said get one week and we also said we'd open this week's podcast with just rattling off a list of those who died in Infinity War so there's one we're just going to drop them we're just going to drop them in as we go along yeah drop them like Spider-Man gun I'll say this Luke by by the way listeners if you if you're concerned if you haven't seen Infinity War number one it's a great film go and see it number two you should probably not listen there will be

spoilers in this episode they've already been two uming of the Galaxy is going to suck Rockets left there's there's a Spider-Man coming out soon they're going to start shooting it at the end of next month so I mean Spider-Man's dead it's going to be a short movie no they've been they've really made a lot of effort to uh to to hide the spoilers they filmed whole films or or done pre-production on whole films that will no longer be made oh that's amazing what a red herring black panther 2 n [ __ ] dead no no way oh you like black panther bad luck highest grossing film of [ __ ] all time was it it probably was no probably every new film that does well is the highest grossing film of all time

now because films are costing more and more so not a good metric to use I thought it was a little excessive in the after credit sequence when Kevin Fe was just pissing all over those piles of comic books I thought that was and then he when he lit himself on fire and he was like [ __ ] you all they're dead they're dead yeah yep yep that's just me well this yeah I guess this is the infinity War spoiler episode what do you think yeah but I think um just if we're talking about after credit sequences where this is also the movie in which Samuel Jackson just just admitted that he is always just Samuel L Jackson in every film yeah

mother that was pretty good all right so where do we want to start on this I can tell you what I liked about it go on I liked the Guardians of the Galaxy scenes I felt like the humor was not it it was pretty good wasn't quite the same I felt like to maintain that kind of humor with as little context as you get when you're only in a tenth of the movie yeah yeah and also completely different directors so fair enough Drax still had the best line though which one though I'll go you one better why is Gamora yeah I also enjoyed uh no you are a dude this is a man yeah I've been standing here for an hour this movie pretty much takes off where Thor Ragnarok finishes well that's what it felt like anyway yeah yeah it's

pretty close to anyway and uh I mean they I'll tell you what one thing that I thought was weird about like I'm like fine you know we don't need to belabor the point is that they skimmed over the deaths of some pretty important characters in The the [ __ ] entire planet from the first Guardians movie has already been [ __ ] destroyed by Thanos yeah that's right but I think off screen no they're gone they're gone mate and we saw that a couple no they're all gone the [ __ ] Guardians they're also all gone it's like it's it's like Kevin fig would just went look guys we can't get hung up on any one person's death or this movie will be a very very long movie cuz the like the Nova they call the Nova that's the whole point of the [ __ ] first yeah the first point of

the whole [ __ ] movie was to save them and then it's just like oh no we killed them dead they're g off screen are gone so there's that oh you didn't like them did you oh Glen Close dead in the film yeah yeah we already lost for all we know for all we know yeah and then yeah the as Guardians the whole point of Thor Ragnarok although presumably not all of them well no what I'm actually thinking was they'd already dropped everyone off at a planet to go live and then they were just ducking out to pick up some space milk it's blue milk yeah they needed some milk so they went out to pick some up at the local it is only a matter of time yeah and they were like who should we who wants to

come get the milk and all the major characters went oh come yeah yeah makes sense h no I understand why they did it because we don't need to see it it's just I was just like oh all right he's already got the power Stone fair enough I'll I'll just deal with it we're not starting at the beginning he's got some already here's how he gets the last couple one thing I thought was a little odd in relation to Thor Ragnarok was that the whole point of Ragnarok was that Thor doesn't need the hammer the power is inside of him and then in this no he need he needs a hammer he needs yeah he needs something yeah he has literally he uses none of his powers yeah he doesn't use his powers at all until he gets a new weapon and I was I was just like that's interesting did

they change Thor Ragnarok at some point and just like [ __ ] weapon does give him a little bit more power it giv the ability used to by Frost himself so he can just teleport around the Galaxy now right yeah fair enough yeah that's pretty cool yeah he couldn't do that before I get you it was now he has to fly around the little pod with a rabbit oh that I kept laughing at that cuz it just kept going Thor just kept calling Rocket Raccoon rabbit yeah and he's not even a raccoon rocket didn't even complain cuz everyone was in love with Thor this is my friend a tree what about the fact that Thor could understand Groot oh yeah yeah that's funny I am Groot I am Steve

Rogers that's one thing that I guess the just they did a really good job of of making the characters interact in like a Charming way cuz it could this could have been a [ __ ] hot mess like yeah this could have been Suicide Squad right yes and the fact that they spent so much time over the last [ __ ] how many years has it been now 10 no yeah setting up all these characters so we don't have to [ __ ] around and learn who they are just put them in the room together and let them interact and yeah yeah nail nailed it like this it wasn't Perfect film but it wasn't a [ __ ] hot mess so what I think uh made this film stand out

for me is that it had a villain who was more interesting and relatable than any of the heroes and I think that's what Marvel is doing very very well at the moment that no one else is uh game enough to do you know well yeah yeah with Thanos you sort of understand where he's coming from a a little bit yeah not to the scale he worked but his whole see it I could see it I could see it like if he had a planet and they didn't have enough resources to support themselves luk it's called the planet Earth and we currently only have enough natural resources to last about 10% of the population another 20 years so I say we go with thanos's plan yeah we have a lottery mhm if you lose or if yeah if you win you get to

live if you lose you die and it's 5050 resources in the Galaxy yeah just make everything twice make it twice as big with twice as many resources but nobody make the human stomachs twice as small so that they don't have to eat as much nobody had a counter point to his argument they were just all like n [ __ ] you like the counter point to the argument is don't murder 50% of the people man yeah I know but then you don't need to articulate it anymore than that well you do in a in a when you've got somebody he's like he's like okay I had a planet this happened I told them we had to kill half the people they didn't and I was right we ran out of resources and now they're all [ __ ] dead right Matt when my grandpa went to

Germany to fight your grandpa he didn't have a Counterpoint all right he just was stopping your grandpa from killing half the people all right fair enough but guys yes I I lived oh really oh so the podcast can continue yeah yes yeah that's the main thing yeah just with less ing a little little bit less sexist little bit watch those watch those midgets for me guys just just watch them don't worry speaking don't let them out of your sight my God I thought I was going to wet myself in the theat the frame the frame he came on screen I was like oh my God that's dinky and he's playing a giant a giant

[ __ ] genius I lost my [ __ ] when I saw that because they brought Peter digl was in there MH and he was huge in it but they didn't sort of superimpose his face or anything they just had him he was just a really really really big dwarf yeah y hilarious which I mean yeah it's it's fantasy so whatever yeah but I just like I just they they they did that they did it they made Peter Dinklage huge like yeah I just can you imagine just I want to I wish I'd been there for the conversation where someone was like can we make Peter Dinkley huge and then they were like must be someone was like is that okay can we do that cuz there must have been

a conversation with he's either going to love that or he's going to be horrifically offended yeah how nervous you think of what the person was who had the call him to ask if he wanted to do that role yeah oh they just they want you for the role of a dwarf and he's like yes makes sense yep yep I can do that and they're like yeah and also you are 12 foot tall yeah and he's like I love it I love it yeah then you're going to stretch me to that height oh no it'll be a it'll be a CGI CG oh well yeah okay I'm still in I'm still in yeah it did take me a few seconds to work out it was actually him walking around though I have felt it in

myON there's there's just not enough irony in Hollywood films you know what I mean sure uh another surprise was Red Skull showing up [ __ ] yeah and I was like because we thought he was dead how about that how about that's the surprise but also because we had talked about characters who who would not come back and you go weaving fck Adam Fu he was yeah well it's not him but I didn't know that until afterwards oh it's not him no they recast it because we just said because he touched all those people no I think it's just he just cuz he said the other week we read the review and he was like well I mean contractually they could call upon me to do uh some more films but you know you don't really want an actor who doesn't want to be there to

be there so just leave it at that and I remember we read I read that and then he showed up on the screen and I was you little [ __ ] yeah this goes so [ __ ] deep yeah you [ __ ] lying prick and then h no but he didn't lie no they recast him but that was a surprise but yet that was a shock now I want to go back and watch the first Adventure again to see cuz I don't remember how he dies he gets sucked into the T he touches something he shouldn't touch yeah much like in real life he says you can see me touching myself I don't want to just there's been a couple of times where we've accused well we've implied that somebody did something and then I looked into it and it wasn't quite right so I just want to make sure are we sure that Hugo weaving has done this no we're we're sure that

the Daily Telegraph published a story where a co-star of his came out and said the guy's a creep he keeps touching me and Hugo went no I didn't which is pretty much what everyone says just was a I mean the listeners aren't really going to know cuz I cut this out but there was uh what's the guy from um from Beetlejuice and Deadwood yeah Jeffrey Jones yeah yeah he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't do had child porn yeah yeah but you said several times that he [ __ ] a bunch of kids on the show and so I had to C that bit out because he oh okay right so cuz I was like I like you know what I was listening to it back and I was like you know what if he did it [ __ ] him like we can we can this in then I was like but I'm going to make

sure that he did [ __ ] a bunch of kids because that's liess yeah fair enough fair enough I mean this can and this can stay in as far as yeah this can stay look Jeffrey Jones look you can look but don't touch I guess no you can't look this podcast that's the whole point can't look looking bad as well oh you guys have [ __ ] confused me now but Dan you can't say that he did touch when he didn't that's the that's the that's the point all right he's not allowed to do either clear about did no harm in that there you go there is he just paid other people to touch them and video it so he could look somehow that makes it better in your eyeses I don't know if that's true I

don't know if that's true that's still wrong I think he took photos of of a boy I think okay how about we just never get away from this yeah back to the family friendly movie Infinity War so good it's a lot of War yeah um uh I thought the battle in wakanda was a little boring at the end yeah but battles are it's so hard to do a battle it's really hard cuz a lot of times when there's a battle happening story stops these days yeah man I turn off Highlanders 30 minutes before the end and that's my favorite movie battles are [ __ ] in movies somehow Game of Thrones has managed to do battles well uh and I

don't know how they do it huh I've not watched you guys have stopped watching but the latest season of Game of Thrones had a couple of battles that I was riveted riveted to the screen okay okay I thought like the the away team fighting Thanos on Titan was cool that was like pretty yeah it's just that the the big yeah and it was also a good way of having not having literally dozens and dozens of characters all I mean they did anyway but splitting up some of the main characters into two separate story lines I think was it was a very smart way to do it yeah CU otherwise it's just it's just a whole heap of Avengers only one of them talking at a time yeah yeah I what one thing I did love W that away te cuz you had uh B the strange and Tony

Stark yes and two very alpha males yes who's the most superhero works so well all okay so I thought the doctor strange movie was just okay I thought it was pretty good but I didn't think it was as good as a lot of the others but I thought Doctor Strange in this was excellent I think he he did extremely well yeah he was fun as anything yeah yeah I like the doctor strange movie but I can see what see I I I think the thing I liked about the doctor strange movie I probably said this at the time is that it's set up because Doctor Strange is weird like his power is weird and you need kind of context for it otherwise it's like what the [ __ ] is he doing now it's done so they can just get on with now he can just be a

wizard don't me front of the Wizards yeah I did like things cuz when they're on the Planet Titan together so Stark strange and Spider-Man look strange is sitting there trying to go through all the variations all the possible Futures to see if they'll win and out of 14 million he found one yes and presumably that's the one they're doing yes because he makes a note of saying that and then when cuz strange has the time infinity stone doesn't he yes yeah the time handing that over and going to Iron Man that this is the only way mhm mhm so which was a great plot point because everybody knew I'm doing air ques here everybody knew before this movie started that Tony Stark was going to die that was pretty much a given and

so they faked that he was going to die and then he didn't just about everyone else did I think I was the only person who was saying he's not going to die I just yeah I had a feeling he wasn't because he doesn't want to pass up with this gig he loves being Iron Man you think he'll stick around I know Chris he want to be cuz he before he was Iron Man he was a [ __ ] convict yes well you know what and listeners don't WR in I know it's the eye of aoto I said it wrong just leave that you can just Loop that back in if you want never mind I said we know Chris Hemsworth wants out maybe they [ __ ] don't maybe none of them do and this whole thing has just been like bullsh yeah maybe they've been

punkers they're all happy to come back oh man we've been punked yeah cuz why wouldn't you be happy to come come back well the the the reason given is that oh they want to move on and do new things but maybe they don't why would you want to do new thing you can do new things anyway and get a billion dollars out of uh yeah the Avengers you need to stop doing new things we don't care about your new things just do the [ __ ] reprise the same [ __ ] over and over like Harrison Ford we're happy with that speak hary piece can I just just quickly seg gr for for a small second to just point out that Harrison Ford's next movie is the secret life of pets too and he's he's doing the voice for it which is the first time he's done voice acting here's the thing though like we've often

talked about how you know he has not got much time left on this Earth yeah um because he's going to die not because there's some kind of space outing that he's waiting to go than is coming yeah that's right and we're not threatening him we're just say this is wonder which of the Star Wars characters died in thanos's plan yeah because it is the I mean it's the same universe they are they're going to time him in at some point absolutely they will the only thing that concerns me or that that you know the only question mark for me is that um this is supposed to be a long time ago so perhaps when we get to it now it's not going to be the the characters we know no although they might just ignore that any anyway Harrison Ford's coming back doing his old reprising roles to

kill off all these old characters so I don't know who he's killing off in uh Hotel for Dogs too secret life of dogs secret life of pets [ __ ] it's just such a Str 2 is uh is Rowan hinson's new film I made that up is he still doing films Hotel Dogs ran ainson yeah he's been a hotel manager in something that's the only reason he popped into my head I could have gone with Tim Curry actually who's going to be at uh RH Island ComiCon and I'm going to be sad when I see him cuz he's not looking good these days no he's really no just caught up him he's doing conventions I want to come back to Australia to go to Supernova because um Richard dfus is going to be there oh right really yes I'm Richard D I'm

Richard drus not only is he a great actor but he is so elusive because half the time he wants to crawl under a rock and die yeah he's man passive yeah yeah although apparently according to the crew of Jaws he [ __ ] literally everyone on that island you've been to that Island haven't you mat I'm not implying that he [ __ ] you I'm not imp playing the Richard drivers has [ __ ] you it's uh it's like like an hour's drive from here so I could go there but I don't know if he's around I got to check they have a web is Richard ders on the island.com and just check before I go yeah nobody uh nobody steps out into the streets if he's around there's got to be some of you I haven't [ __ ] they got two alarms the shark alarm Rich D alarm sometimes they're the same

alarm yeah that's right yeah you're going to need just go back to ran ainson yes go on he is still acting okay he's got a movie coming out this year Johnny English strik [ __ ] sake that sounds like Rowan Atkinson has created some of the most timeless characters in all of Comedy why the English where's the Black Adam movie this is what I guess because yeah Ron ainson is great was great sorry and now I'm like now he he's kind of a laughing stock like back to what I said before we don't want your new stuff go back to your Staples hey people speaking of people who used to be great and are now laughing black oh man that would be so good they're doing new seasons of Red Dwarf why not black yeah they're milking Red Dwarf where would the New Black add

be set cuz we had like medieval and then like Tudor Renaissance and then World War I at wardian era uh sorry Georgian era so where would the next one be I reckon um you could do a World War I you go from one of the moviesbe the Roman or you could do like a 1980s one or something oh like yeah or early 90s Operation Desert Storm comedy yeah with black add and well I'm sure yeah oh actually I don't even know if the British were involved in that they probably weren't uh fand's War then set in the 80s the fand's war and B black out go invade the Faulkland yeah do that don't do Johnny English don't do Johnny English did you have a present

day it's not too late take it out take it out just cancel the movie yeah yeah it's a bit late they in post production doesn't matter it's not too late movies have been canned in post production many times do you guys see I know we've talked about this before about how Tom Holland is a [ __ ] walking spoiler yeah so there's there's this clip here uh there's two two articles I put in one of them is great it's it's you know they teamed him up with Benedict Cumberbatch on the press for Infinity war and told cber batch well they're both British did anyone else not know he was [ __ ] British uh I I feel like I did but I forgot Tom Holland is not benedit com batch he's very obviously British even when doing his American accent I am an American actor they got teamed up

together and and there's this like kind of Montage of all the times Benedict cbch just [ __ ] cuts Tom Holland off cuz he's about to spoil something like they ask him a question and he's like oh well and come's like so that's great and then there's this other one too where he turned up uh as a like there were guest the russos the you know the guys who directed Infinity war did a a little greeting thing before a screening of Avengers of infinity War this is before the film no one's seen the film yet in the audience so they get up on stage and they've bite Tom Holland up and he comes up on stage and he goes I'm alive [ __ ] rard although that might

you I know he's funny that might not have been a spoiler no but getting up as a joke well actually there's there's been a little bit of a craze online about publishing spoilers for Infinity Wars out of context so maybe he was just jumping on that bandwagon yeah there was another clip too actually I just remember this I didn't put it in here it was of um uh what's his name Hulk um Mark Ruff Mark Ruffalo and Don cheel doing press for one of the other films and they said something about some somebody dies in one of the other films something was like oh it's a bit of a down and Mark Ruffo goes wait till you see the next one and then goes whoa buddy whoa I think all of these old clips are

going to start popping back up when people speaking of Don does anyone Miss Terren Howard who the guy who was in the first Iron Man yeah I rewatched Iron Man the other day uh because that's still one of my favorites man it's so good it's so good he's only Iron Man for like 15 minutes of that movie right at the end like yeah it's it's excellent it's an it's escalated so much since then like yeah man he's get into the suit here yeah that's right exactly but um war machine is played by um well not not war machine but uh his buddy what's his name yeah Corp his buddy yeah little black buddy is played by Terrence Howard

who does a [ __ ] great job Black Pete is played by no but in all seriousness Terence Howard did a [ __ ] great job and I find that Don cheet does a so so job he wanted too much money apparently well yeah but do you know why he wanted too much money cuz he knew he was going to be a main character at some point cuz he was that cuz that was his deal so they made a deal with him that if he was in one if they were in a sequel he'd get double and if they were in a sequel to that he'd get double that again oh okay and then in the when they did the sequel they offered him the same pay as the first movie and he was like uh what about the thing you said about you giving me double for this and they're like why would you get double

and he's like come on man and they're like we could was it also that um Robert Dany Jr had also gone I want more money as well so basically they took a little bit of money from everyone and gave it to Robbie Danny Jr so Terrence Howard went well [ __ ] you then and it was never ever in another movie again cuz I thought they've done with like a lot of the STS they sort of paid them off not a lot to start with and then increase it as the movies have gone on yeah I wonder what RDJ gets now I don't want to know it's Me siert Down syndrome Jr get paid for Infinity war and then you got according to according to the telegraph he's asking for 200 million for Avengers

4 ah God damn that is the telegraph though that's so much money I don't know could that be right why does he even need that I get that you can't just be like you know I don't need the money anymore I'll work for free cuz that doesn't make sense but like the [ __ ] does he need that for $200 million what do you need $200 million for there a lot of hookers and blow well just to break it down um I'm looking at a breakdown of his earnings here from Richard III in 1995 where he was given $50,000 M um game six in 2005 where he was given $100 a day I don't know what that is um Iron Man he was paid 10 million right the first Iron Man that is um and the third Iron Man 50 million all he got paid a lot more for the first one

than I thought he would yeah yeah but 200 million cannot be right can it that means that the movie's going to cost like a more than a billion dollars to make I think that's probably the way we're going now isn't it I mean Avengers has made a already it's been out 2 weeks made a billion dollar I think they're I think they but judging on that that okay they have got their money back and now we have to see what it makes yeah yeah but that's just box office the the the the licensing that come off of this yeah video games everything yeah they're rolling in it have you seen that's going that's um Tom Holland um in the Spider-Man suit well it's it's it's Tom Holland's ass in his

Spider-Man suit and Brie lon's ass in her um is this a spoiler her Captain Marvel suit right I don't think that's a spoiler everyone knows right anyone who cares knows that she's Captain Marvel yeah um and everyone's just saying how Tom Holland's got such a better body than she does okay CU cuz he has this nice round firm Peach of an ass right right and you that guy from Beetle's blog you're Googling it now aren't you Tom his I'm Googling yeah versus Brie Lon is Bri Lon spelled like Brie the cheese yeah Brie Li Captain Marvel costume has fans freaking out I don't see this ah I saw it on Reddit I'll see

if I can find it again and Link it to you guys I didn't think there was photos of her in the suit yet yeah there are there are if you if you Google Bri lson Captain Marvel yeah okay so there's one there's one picture where she's she's got a guy on the ground who's grabbing onto her wrist right and her back to camera and uh that's the picture of her that they've put against Tom Holland and his right Peach I think it also could have something to do with the suits yeah yeah it's a lot more flattering mhm did you guys see that uh that video going around of oldb Plaza um imitating Sarah Silverman no I don't like her I know but Luke loves her

really yeah I do yeah okay I love everyone no but you love her especially you don't love [ __ ] what's her name Kristen Stewart oh that's true he doesn't love her no no I do not all right not everyone who was it who else was it that we discovered Luke hated as much as Christian Stewart um I think it was a guy I think there's a guy that he hates the listeners will tell us yeah listeners have to write and remind me the listeners pay more attention to our uh conversations and we do that's for sure everyone pays more attention to conversations than what I do oh I'm gonna give the contact details and I'm going to tell you one other thing I didn't like about Infinity War as that for like a what do you call that you call that uh foreshadowing Wii yeah
