Doctor Hue: Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Starfield & Disco Elysium

well we've come up to sort of a weird time in the year 7 a.m. where I'm just going to talk about Mass Effect for the next month welcome to multiple nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All Things nerdy oh yeah have we gone back to 2014 is that what's happened is when that came out that way is that when that came out it's like 13 years old yeah right far out um came out on Friday and I love it yeah I um I bought it and I have played uh I've played to the bit where you actually start playing you know when you land on Eden Prime Eden Prime yep that's as far as I've gotten so okay I

wouldn't so I wouldn't say I'm I'm playing it as such I've played through the text at the start look I'll buy it but I just don't see when I'm going to have the [ __ ] 300 odd hours to play this [ __ ] thing yeah you're better off to not get it until you finish some of your other games the other games that I've bought and have absolutely no time to play yeah Y luk where were you where were you and I was clicking purchase I think you're right cuz the thing about this game as well it's not a pick up and put down like it's not the time game where I I'm a bit busy I'll put this game down for a couple of weeks and when I get a sh I'll come back you come back after three weeks what was I doing yeah yeah almost certainly that's what's going to

happen yeah when I played uh Mass Effect 2 for the first time I just sat there and played it until I was finished I didn't turn it off once I turned it on yeah it was days it took days and I had sleep breaks in between but I just played it until it was finished mhm well I'm 20 hours in mhm so just a little bit 20 hours do sort of feel a little bad still feel a little bad so I'm a spectre don't want to brag but made me a spectre oh they let you be expected this this play through okay so uh they and then get a mission to go hey the GU are attacking these two colonies you might want to go sort that out mhm uh at the moment I'm scanning Keepers in the C all oh yeah that's right there's little little multi-legged creatures yeah cuz I'm just completing

an achievement uh not an achievement a mission to get XP for nothing so I feel like a bit of a jerk but are you playing Paragon or Renegade or are you just I'm playing Paragon yeah I can't imagine playing Renegade well I used to because in the original games you had to unlock the difficulty of insanity you had the play through once and then you could play through on Insanity to get the achievement for it okay so what I'll do is my first play through I'd play through as Paragon my second one I'd just go through as is completely evil not even Renegade which is like just a bit edgy just [ __ ] evil like the way Dave used to play Fallout I feel like it's weird playing something like Mass Effect at Renegade like I I mean I I haven't really tried

it I guess but it does seem like how are you a hero if you're just [ __ ] murdering people and like people I help me and you're like piss off bit of a spoiler but the game's been these games been out for years um so playing uh Renegade there's actually you murder Rex at one point in the game depending on how you play it and it is a brutal murder where you run at him jump kick him in the face and then shoot him in with a shotgun to the head like it's oh wow pretty out there Matt I'll just back up and just I you you want to know what reason You' play Renegade uh is [ __ ] Jack a reason because you have to play Renegade if you want to is I just mean like she has no interest in the good boys man I just wonder girls with

uh it's Renegade and not evil I guess cuz remember when you play nice to the Old Republic you would actually be evil and it's just kind of odd in a way that like you're trying to save the Galaxy but like but you're evil I I don't know it's just it's just like an odd kind of even with this that's s of some of the undercurrents of the game how like some at the CC like Cal security don't like specters because they do break the law and sort of push things too far sometimes sure I can't play any game as evil because I play every game as myself like it's escapism because I'm in the game and I'm playing another world but I'm playing as myself always so you're just a Centrist yeah that's I'm a radical Centrist yeah help us or don't help us I'll probably just watch yeah tell you

what I'll help you help yourselves I'll strengthen the economy so that you guys can get up off your feet by yourself so yeah that that honestly going to be my life for the next few weeks it looks good I'll I'll give it that it looks pretty it does and I some missions I remember and I think but this time I think I've stumbled across other missions that I didn't haven't come come across before okay are the controls better in this are they different yeah okay cuz I remember I tried to replay Mass Effect one a little while back and I was like oh God yeah it wasn't the greatest have they kind of ironed out the Kinks between 1 2 and three in terms of the differences between the controls and the game play um I think it's a bit bit smoother but the gun types remember

in one you just overheat you didn't need ammunition oh God yeah and then they introduced that in the two well it's still that way now that your guns overheat but I don't feel they're overheating as fast okay but so they have made small tweaks to the game but nothing forgot about that jeez but yeah I want to be on Mass Effect 2 by this weekend first play through of Mass Effect 2 my entire crew died oh man Mass Effect 2 one of my favorite games of all time so good and I've been wanting to go back and replay these games for so long but because achievements of Ru gaming for me I haven't been able to because to sit down and repl such a long game and not get achievements just feels wrong somehow wait oh no you get new

achievements for the new one I guess yeah definitely yeah yeah right it's a it's a new game so they've got they've got a total of it's got a weird gamer score total imagine that imagine the look on poor little L's face if he played through all these [ __ ] games hundreds of hours and then it came up and said oh you've already played these man you got the achievements for these years ago they go and just unlock well yeah I know I know we kind of unlocked them as you were going but you did already have them you know that right so your score hasn't moved we were just telling you where you were unlocking achievements that would have been unlocked had you not played this game which you have a rage quit but so the total gamer score for this game is

2,915 it just seems a weird number Oh I thought I see this is how little I know about achievements I thought they all just had a certain number of points you could get um well it depends on like this cuz it's three games so you can have more sometimes if there's a major Title Update or a add-on pack three games that's like I I know I get where you're coming from I thought it was just like every game has a thousand gamer score to give out and then you that's generally the rule I too M just so you know just okay so I'm being very quiet over here so but yeah like the the master the Halo Master Chief Collection that came out with a th000 for each of the Halo but it still just a one game but is what it is but I'll step away from M effect now to do the podcast I

don't want to bore you off okay so you've been playing it up until this point yes yes I've now stopped look I've been playing something this week too and um actually Luke you could play it as well if you wanted to foro achievements uh because disco alium is unbanned in Australia now and I had a feeling it would be and they've come out and said look we know there's a lot of drug use in this game and we know that there's some very very positive effects from short-term drug use but the game also highlights the very negative aspects of long-term drug use so for that reason we're going to give it a hard R yeah so black and white when they basically what happens is they submit a form team goes through it and goes yes

this is raing or no not classified MH the board that go through does this they don't make those decisions all the time like it's basic it's tick and flick you send in a form you get your back approved or denied and way you go they appealed it which means the board has to get together and they only get together like three or four times a year I'm imagining Wizards Matt like people in robes with long beards they like they only get together because their their power is just too powerful why have you summoned us here they were advertising a position to be on all of them got to put a ring into like a key lock I so thought about applying but the thing is it's not what people think where they sit down and watch a mov or play a game they get a huge file they

have to read through and people explain what's in the game or movie and then that's how the decision is made so it wouldn't be fun and you'd have to talk to all these idiots who don't know anything about games or or like how how things work and you would end up ripping that little be out I'd also remind you Luke I mean you're very PC these days but there was a there was a good decade there that you were advocating there to be a game about attacking women in the first person so you know your stands on what isn't isn't allowed might have the the stalking game yes until someone came along and made it and the world agreed yeah that's not a good idea yeah that that should never have been made yeah no no one should

listen to Luke um but I want to talk about disco leum just for a moment because I just last night yeah that's right just I just want to mention it uh in case anyone doesn't know that uh I [ __ ] love this game what's it called what's what's the game called yeah yeah I don't know it's just something I clicked on um I think it's called Wizards online or something I don't know it's a luk in it yeah I've finished it again last night this is playthrough number four oh you finished it again yeah and I wasn't going to but you get to a certain point in the game Matt where you just can't stop playing you know what I mean you just can't stop so I just rocket it through to the end a couple of things I did differently this time and a couple of new things because

of that and then also discovering a couple of those new things that are in the director's cut that weren't in the previous version but I will say other than the voice acting which is extensive there's not a lot of new content okay all right so don't play it expecting there to be new rooms you can open up to and New Missions no it's just I've only played it once so far so I'm going Tojo up was wasn't the sort of main update of this just that sort of not so much changing the story adding more talks more about the full voice acting and yeah because I mean this was this was a text adventure and uh there was there was some voice acting in it to introduce scenes but then it was just a lot of reading and it still is but uh now it's fully voice active well I will

get to play it without having to get Matt to buy it for me and send it over you will so no idea when no out on everything except Xbox like it's even out in stadia how is that out in stadia but not Xbox stadia still exists I thought they it's it's going it's circling the toilet the Google toilet y as they do it's G to be it's going to make to that website of Google's abandoned projects so listeners will no doubt remember me uh and you Matt talking about a certain character a young 12year old oh yeah redheaded boy um named after my my house water filter I learned the other day just as I was did you my snap the [ __ ] do I care about

your water filter changing the water filter I look down and it's it's called Kuno and I was like a [ __ ] does Kuno care now we have lamented in the past that Kuno has been revoiced um and the actor has been told to tone it down which I was very disappointed about but it doesn't matter long term you get used to it it doesn't matter um Midway through the game and we've talked about this before it is a spoiler but we have talked about it before so skip ahead 2 minutes if you don't want to hear about this again but uh there's a gunfight there's a gun fight in the game MH um there's some shooting as gunfights are uh you know known for M um you can get killed and the game can be over you can kill a lot of people uh and I was discovered this time through your

partner can be killed and my partner was killed and when your partner's killed you finish the game with Kuno as your new partner It's [ __ ] amazing and is kuna your favorite character of course absolutely Kuno I like Kuno better than I like the character I'm playing as so I got so many questions because go on like so that like the whole rest of the game they've just got Kuno is as in as well they've written a whole Kuno is following me around instead of Kim kitsuragi now you know when you encounter things and you discuss yeah Clues and things with Kim you do that as well with Kuno but anything you ask him he goes [ __ ] do I know about that he is no help he is absolutely no help but he's there it's like if I was

helping you investigate something yeah yeah it would be like it be like going on a murder mystery investigation with Luke so okay he makes you feel good I don't spoil anything but you know when you you get get towards the end and some stuff happens that that stuff all happens again still this time this game has been out for so long we are well past the worry about spoiler stage well certain things in the game I wouldn't want to talk about right you know what I mean Matt I do that's what I'm saying but those things still happen yes although it happened very differently this time and it wasn't kun's fault I was I was unprepared Matt I finished this round of this game without finding my gun yeah right okay as in the opportunity to find yeah I know that's

what I mean I know I know where it [ __ ] is I've played it four times but yeah just it just didn't come up accidentally played the game in an order that made certain events happen before I could retrieve my gun yeah right mhm and there was a few other things that were different as well that's fascinating what a game all right I know man maybe by the end of the year and Matt in case you're wondering because Kim wasn't there I didn't get a picture of it yeah that's what I thought okay because how could you but Kuno couldn't keep his mouth shut no one believed him oh God I got to see that amazing you just got to get your partner killed and Away you go I don't even know how to advise you to make that happen because I have no idea what I did other than the fact that I

went into that gunfight with no gun yeah right which I'm sure has something to do with it yeah but I'm sure there's other variables too while you guys are playing that I'm just going to play Leger shoot Larry wet dreams dry twice that comes out tomorrow I bought the wet dreams never die which what dreams never dry whatever the the first one yeah first of the remakes Ive got it on switch haven't played it no I've have not played any of the remakes I mean this is not the first time they remade them either no no no they I mean he just won't go away I think this one yeah this one I think is this is like just a what's the word where they as a port I don't know where it was but they've ported it to the Xbox can't believe there's that many people

still playing video games that have Nostalgia for this franchise it's weird there was actually once a few years ago there was like a Grand Theft Auto version of it so you were controlling him running around doing missions shooting people I think you shot people it's a very long time ago are you talking about R Retro City Rampage or something just cuz that character kind of looks like I'm talking about leisure suit Leisure Suit Larry where you run around and shoot people I think maybe jez all right let me have a look Luke does tend to play a lot of dream games and watch a lot of dream movies that does happen so this could be one of them so the game I'm talking about is leure Suit Larry box office bust oh yeah I took a look at that but I

didn't play much of it it was not as much as a it was a pretty big change for the Larry games it [ __ ] sounds like person it was it was garbage mat it was abolutely garbage I'll bet I'll bet speaking of a game that a lot of people said was garbage and obviously I got in after it they kind of redeemed it somewhat I've been playing Fallout 76 mhm mhm what do you think I mean it's pretty fun it's just Fallout 4 uh it's multiplayer obviously so it's a bit different but so you just see people running around and oh no I've got a private server so we talked about okay yeah I bought Fallout first just to test out cuz we were talking we were talking about trying to you know play together uh obviously you can do that and um did you buy it did I buy what oh for first

oh sorry I thought you brought Fallout 76 no no no it's it's that's on Game Pass but y I bought Fallout first so I I can go into a private world but it's not persistent so it doesn't quite work in the way that you know like our Conan are doomed Conan Exiles well did we talk about that I don't know that we talked about that uh yeah uh Luke allowed me to have a rant oh okay good we good good but yeah that that's a shame though because the what you you sort of hoping before cuz we're different time zon you want to go in do the mission and then Rock up and next time you log in there's a huge base next to you or yeah been working on but because I remember when we used to play Minecraft years ago we had our Minecraft

server and uh we were all I mean we're all living in the same country back then but we were all on very different timelines and I was Bas run into someone sometimes you wouldn't yeah and then you know i' I'd log on to just see what had been built what had been destroyed to see what Luke had mind and then just left in a crate in my house yeah yeah I don't get the build in my I don't get the crafting in Minecraft the mining I've got that down the craft never understood building stuff anyway I'm going to go play with Lego is this instructions with Lego I love that Minecraft is essentially an homage to Lego and then there's Lego Minecraft now yeah it's a it's a a Rob barus of yes yeah yeah yeah of building but yeah I only

know that word from Red Dwarf our Rob or Ross so yeah flight 76 the way it works is you put your your Camp is like I mean and it's built into the game I guess technically you've got this device that's your Camp cm and you deploy it and then it puts out your campsite and so where you're building is in the camp and then when you log off the server it packs up your Camp so you can't really have a city or town that you've built that's persist CU I remember you can you don't have to move your base so when you log off your base is still there like if you're playing on a public server your base is will once you log on your base will be where it where it was yeah but you hop servers don't you so how yes so so what will happen is it'll if someone

has built or is too close to where they're going to put your base they'll move you to a different server until eventually you can get on in other words we can't build a village and then always go to our village that's what I'm saying so and and with Fallout first I can choose to go into a private server which means I can play the game with without you know any anybody else in the game and invite you guys to my server and then it will be just us playing Fallout 76 privately but as soon as I log off k it's it's going to say you guys you've got like 5 minutes or something and then you're and then you're out unless one of you also has Fallout first in which case it will continue which is an odd little thing but then but but but then if if that person logs off then it'll shut

down and eventually it'll get to the point where it's shut down and you guys can't reinitiate it starting up only I can so it's kind of I don't know it's odd it just basically it just doesn't work the way that it's not it's not what it's not what we want I mean we could still play and it's still fun it's still fun and we could work around it and play it anyway but yeah this game is not wasn't built for us we are not the intended market for this game no it's pretty fun though I don't know that I'll continue with the Fallout first stuff cuz I don't think I'm going to play it that much but it could be a fun thing look the amount of times that I actually and this is going back to when it first came out the amount of times I ran into anyone wasn't enough I don't think to justify needing

that server it wasn't like i' had 100 people running around making it confusing you sort of come across someone in the Wasteland you keep on walking or you have a gunfight but that was it there's no oh I had one guy like trying to give me stuff and he wouldn't he wouldn't leave me alone and I was I'm just trying to play the game and he's here's a bunch of crap ah fine I feel like I like I don't want to cheat you know what I mean I know it's not cheating but I was like I don't I don't really want this this stuff I didn't earn it you know that's the thing I mean you you have to you have to want that to play to play these games you know yeah like I mean I remember I was playing it once back back when I was giving it a go and this young guy came up and and

helped me [ __ ] kill some [ __ ] something and then was like come back with me I've got this thing and let's go find this other thing and then I need some help doing this and I'm like kind of playing this as a solo Adventure man sorry thanks for the help but yeah it's like used to no I think playing um were the old people would try and join your party and i' be like ignore if we were playing this now late early late early 20s I think that this what we're talking about would not be a problem we would yeah because we wouldn't have to log off we had so much [ __ ] time and also we're like we're we never had games like this multiplayer kind of thing and so it's just not how

we play games and so it's kind of foreign to me to to be like dropping in dropping out I feel like it's I'm I'm too formal about it I feel like if I if I if I commit to joining up up with you playing the game that's [ __ ] that's what I'm doing today you know what I mean and I I want to do that but it's it's basically Fallout 4 uh with an online component yeah and I think it is a bit bit better now that they've introduced this hum yeah that's the thing I know when it came out there were no humans which seems [ __ ] bizarre because they're everywhere in it now uh so I don't I can't really imagine the humans were meant to be us Matt yeah yeah and I never understood this so their plan was we will all log to ser and we'll make our own stories

what and we won't have to pay anybody to do it at Bethesda well speaking of Bethesda yes uh so looks like there some new news about their game Starfield or is it just rumor at the moment no I think this is news uh it's come straight from somebody at Bethesda uh Jeff no not Jeff grub wait no it is oh wait a minute hang on a minute this guy doesn't work this guy doesn't work for [ __ ] Bethesda I hate this I hate this stop it so he just thinks has a feeling but nothing back because here's this here's the thing the quotee is Starfield is exclusive to box and PC period This Is Me confirming that so when I read that I was like oh bethesda's confirmed it it's

not Bethesda saying that it's some [ __ ] reporter saying that all right so now given the context he's probably right right be yeah I mean they did say they did kind of allude to the fact that this was going to happen they did we say what this is do people know what this is oh so Starfield is basically going to be Skyrim in space yeah it's their new role playing game that they I'm so single thing except the logo so I [ __ ] love Skyrim as you do too and probably most of our listeners do and everyone already knows that um but if there's one thing I like more than fantasy it's sci-fi yes like so Skyrim but scii you got me you got me take my [ __ ] money and I'll quit my job and just play this game from

now on some of the things I've heard about this one is it's sort of going to be a bit like no man's Sky you know how like you can land on a planet and then you take off I hope it's not too much like no man Sky be honest I meant that the F aspect like like flying out of the atmosphere and flying around yeah right I like noad Sky bring that on but for it to be XBox exclusive that's I don't know that's to me still a big call yeah you're basically saying half of the market or actually more than half more people have PlayStations than Xboxes are right basically saying you know what no we don't need Xbox needs a reason for people to buy Xbox and this could be this is exclusive this is that this is this would be a reason oh yeah

absolutely I mean if somehow if you had convinced yourself Matt that you really wanted to play Ghost of sushima so last year you bought a PS5 instead of the Xbox you'd be buying a [ __ ] Xbox now right yes to play this yeah for sure I'd be kicking myself definitely well I mean I'd wait and see see if this is good first but yes see there there are rumors floating around at the moment it's going to come out the end of the year or early next year we know nothing about this game except for the name we've seen the logo and there was like a little teaser that if iall was just Stars right it was just some some I don't think I've seen gameplay no no that's what I'm saying it's not gameplay it was just like a little little trailer where it showed the stars and barely a trailer either

that's what I'm saying yeah it's nothing it's just a logo reveal but I think it's still possible they could release early cuz I don't this is one of those games I don't think they're going to have to do the marketing yeah as much as they would markets itself yeah maybe I'd love them to do a e3 announcement or whatever announcement they're going to have go hey and by the way this game's available now so we're got an online E3 again this year so yeah ibe we'll see more maybe we'll see something anything everything just keeps getting pushed back yeah I want to know what happening with the Lego Skywalkers Stager well things are normalizing over here now we've got uh no more masks required basically anywhere CO's gone well I mean enough people who want to be

vaccinated have been vaccinated I think that I think they're like well you're all to do what you want I think that's how Hive immunity Works Matt but you know what the thing is then it's America and some people just aren't going to do it and so you can't the IDE logic is that we can't shut down the country just for these idiots so they want to go and get sick let them well yeah but that's what I mean is the is the plan here that all the people who are now vaccinated Will Survive and the people who are not vaccinated will pass the disease around until all of them are dead and that will then be the high immunity we've all been promised I don't know I think the the idea is that enough people are vaccinated that the it's it's going to

be contained enough that we don't have to rued to the risk that I think that's basically the the way it's going to work cuz yeah you're you're still not going to be welcome to Australia for little till next year at the earliest cuz there are already people who are lying about whether they're vaccinated or not so it's not going to get any better in that respect who are they lying to everybody probably their employers but they're wandering around without masks on before you were allowed to saying I'm vaccinated I'm vaccinated like that um not going toow to let on like [ __ ] Customs officials not going to be like well I'll take your word for it then no no no if you're not vaccinated you're not going to be able to get on a plane one of these babies I'm getting a flu shot tomorrow

does that does that count yeah I have I have my flu shop most years I've never had one before but I get one free from work now so I thought yeah [ __ ] it yeah yeah sticking in me usually I'm just like I [ __ ] if I get the flu I get the flu h no I've had the flu once I never won it again you know when you think like you've got the flu and it's just like a bit of a bad car cu the flu is yeah when you get the [ __ ] know it yeah it's not fun there were people coming I had a little bit of the flu I had to have a day off I watch 2001 Space Odyssey with the with with uh pneumonia when I had the flu Oh that would have been an experience it was I I I I was like convinced I unlocked the secrets want to Space Odyssey and then the next day I was trying to tell

somebody about it and I was like I don't remember what I was talking about that's great something about the the Apes made tools and then humans came along and they had tools but then to how we the tools something like that no no mat Matt you could write an academic paper on that honestly you probably could I mean that's the kind of that's the kind of garbage thing and then H without hell can't do a whole lot he needs us and it was there was this whole thing and but I don't remember the specifics do you remember do you remember seeing that uh interview with Stanley cubric that was on Japanese radio you can find this online but there was this [ __ ] Japanese radio DJ

asking cubric a bunch of questions about 2001 and of course KUB as most people know was very elusive when anyone asked about it the movie is [ __ ] ambiguous as anything and then he just he wouldn't help it out but this Japanese radio gu is just like tell me what it's about and so kuri just goes oh fine and just tells him and there's like think he would never make it into the wi World he's like again spoilers skip ahead he's like in the future humans are in a zoo people are observing them from in another dimension and it's like whoa okay [ __ ] hell all right remember that cuz the movie and the book they were sort of done at the same time it was one working with Arthur C Clark yeah curi liked a short story called The Sentinel that Arthur C Clark wrote and

then said let's make a screenplay what happened was towards the end of the filming uh cubric just sort of went a little bit dark uh dark quiet he just continued made the movie and then stopped talking to AR C Clark about the ending and stuff he does that y it's his yeah so I see like went and wrote the novel and went fine I'm filling in my own details and he really did cuz there were what three more novels after that yes and he's like I'm giving the monkey a name I told you I read that I listened to that audio book with um I forgotten the reporter's name but he was allowed to go into Kubrick's estate before yeah yeah and go all his stuff about you know his Napoleon Movie was doing and all that kind of stuff but he he he there

was um these [ __ ] cabinets and cabinets full of photos because when they were trying to when he was Finding locations for Eyes Wide Shut he hired people so he didn't have to go out into the world he hired people to go to London and literally walk down the street and take front-on photos of every house so that he could literally just like basically walk down the Streets of London and he would just look at every house and essentially he got someone to create Google Earth for him yeah but in a filing in like filing cabinets in like in a [ __ ] Warehouse it was just full of all the houses along these streets in London he said it was it was mindblowing see this is why I think I'll never be a great filmmaker is because I think you have to be a little bit insane yeah oh

yeah totally yeah like yeah like the arrogance of Ridley Scott like you've got he's just like a little bit like on another level just yeah little bit like takes itself too seriously yes you got to work that fine line as well now yeah you can't just bully people now which is what used to happen that's how you used to get the job done you don't know who I am you're ruined in this industry oh you'll never work again I've never been able to say that to anyone you don't know that Matt yeah you might one day you just need to run someone over I should have just I should have yelled that at somebody when I was working I mean you could say that to Jenner if you

were suggesting that she'd be a stay-at-home mom from now on you'll never work again I should have yelled at people when I was doing location stuff I had a little bit of clout then from what I hear Matt from people in the industry you were a little bit like that what is this what's this no I'm I've just been told that no one wants to piss you off when you're [ __ ] location managing that's what I've heard is that true well I don't do it anymore so I guess they're wait who told you that no I'm kidding I'm kidding I'm kidding who the [ __ ] do you know that I worked with no oh there was one there was one listeners may not know there was one job Matt and I both worked on and we didn't know because Matt was location

manager and I was post prodction manager and we just okay yeah talking [ __ ] about each other told me about I tell I only tell famous [ __ ] well-regarded directors off apparently I I really I really wanted to tell someone that story the other day but it was somebody who is pretty prolific in advertising and I was like I'm not going to just in case you know what I mean like our listeners are like just a bunch of nerds who just laugh at our [ __ ] [ __ ] but I'm like hopefully well so far and for listeners who don't know I did tell Vim fenders off and if you don't know who that is neither did I at the time uh my mistake but he'll always remember you yeah if you're into film you probably do know who that is you [ __ ] know who I should have known

who it was yeah but it all worked out and my boss when I got back to the office thought it was very funny I thought it and he said Matt did you say the words tell Vim venders to go [ __ ] himself did you say that today and I said I did I did Paul I did say that and I uh I probably should not have said that mhm yeah father of new German Cinema um made some great science fiction movies too actually nice guy by all accounts not just just wanted to put a camera in the kitchen and uh per from the home owners to be in the kitchen so VI venders can't go in the [ __ ] kitchen how hard is that to understand but V venders wants to go in the kitchen

tell Vim venders to go [ __ ] himself uh I met him when I was working at World movies and uh I interviewed him about um his new film um peut and his um arguably most famous film uh wings of Desire but what I really wanted to talk to him about was that [ __ ] commercial was that location manager that yelled at him that day CU he wanted to put a camera in the kitchen at these old people's house and uh and you weren't allowed look I'm a stickler all right follow the rules they were very specific you can use the living room if you want to put one in there you need to ask that's right and you're going to have to pay them yeah I shot a commercial in a house a beautiful house on in ki on the on the cliffs and um we had the front doors open and the big

back doors that opened up onto the beach and the winds just blew through and then just blew down all the [ __ ] paintings off W oh no and they were really damaged they were really [ __ ] damaged and um but not but we admitted it like we didn't try and uh cover it up we said we left the [ __ ] doors open your paintings blew down and uh let's come to some arrangement but they were like no you must have smashed these paintings deliberately and we likees no no no we we didn't we're admitting to you you seen the hate we know how this works like we [ __ ] up we we shouldn't have created a cross draft through this house but we did and they're like no no you [ __ ] us on purpose Jesus yeah this was all a plan yeah and then in order to

prove us wrong they hired people to bring in huge fans and try to blow paintings off the walls really yeah yeah to I mean it's nothing to do with me man I was just the director yeah yeah yeah of course yeah but uh so it would have been my problem if it would have been Paul's problem ultimately yeah exactly oh yeah good point good point we uh we did set a house on fire once by accident uh as should do that uh I mean I say by accident it wasn't by accident you it was a [ __ ] house on fire scene we didn't the house wasn't actually supposed to catch on fire we had flame bars and that was actually the coolest thing I worked on that was with uh Simon West listeners director of Tomb Raider casual name drop there yeah and Conair I'm joing Tomb Raider is garbage but he

directed Conair but we did a ADT commercial and the house was supposed to be on fire so we had these flame bars and they had a fake facade put on the garage so it looked like the front of the house but it was actually just a garage door so you could put all these flame bars behind it's [ __ ] movie movie Magic it's like my favorite thing I ever worked was just so good uh and and then the house caught on fire and then the fire brigade came put it out and uh and we paid them a lot of money so it all worked out again also partially not your fault but your problem my responsibility yeah yeah and uh but they yeah they got paid quite a lot of money so to to it it was fixed and they got paid a lot of money so I mean worked out for them I think in the

end unless they were really attached to those particular pieces of wood uh you know yeah maybe they were we paid a lot of money to fix some broken well to be honest it was the frames that were broken not the paintings but I think in the end we we paid for more than just frames sure although frames are quite expensive it's true that's yeah cuz I'm getting my Star Wars autograph pictures signed and they're like 100 bucks each they're nothing not getting anything fancy which ones are you getting um I've got all the ones with like uh from people from uh episode three so Natalie Portman Hing Christian and Y McGregor yeah right jorh Lucas dear Luke stop calling me

she's looking at moving to Australia so they all are there's no Hollywood anymore yeah speaking of Nellie Portman that uh she's in some films that I've been watching this week I've Jenner and I have been continuing our Marvel rewatch we've made some good progress I mentioned last week that we'd sort of stalled it's quite difficult to get through a movie little thing got in the way a little that's right yeaha was not not impressed DC more DC oh God that's gonna that's going to be contentious imagine that that one day she was like um Dad I love DC I want to go see Wonder Woman seven I have no daughter now we've up to we've made it through to Ant-Man now which means we've made it all the way through the Avengers

and uh Age of Ultron which I'd only seen once I've now seen it twice I've only seen that at the movies still forgettable uh so there's a reason that I think I do I do like that the character development in Age of Ultron as a movie it's garbage the plot is boring but it is the best for character development mhm the charact yeah the moments like yeah where they're all trying with the hammer and all that kind of stuff yeah yeah yeah and when they're on the when they're at [ __ ] Hawkeye's Farm yeah yeah they chopping the wood it's great great it's got the same it's exactly the same as the first Avengers where it gets to the end and then a big Army of [ __ ] drones comes and it's just them punching drone nobodies like you've got the chitari come through the

portal in Avengers and then you've got ultron's minions in the second one it's like he just made the same movie with different character moments so did he write that one too he did yeah he must have yeah yeah it Ki comes up at the end says written and directed by Jos Weeden and then I bet that stings a bit cuz it's the one no one likes yeah I'm sure he's happy he got what how many millions to make it no doubt but these movies are good uh even Ant-Man which I thought was quite forgettable uh it's actually not bad I think maybe yeah yeah I enjoyed it this time I think maybe my expectations were set better I actually really enjoyed it um it's interesting to rewatch them and see how they kind of were finding their feet especially in that you know the the

first um phase I guess even into the Avengers movie and it seems like oh they didn't really I don't think they knew that Loki staff for example had the mindstone in it because just the way that it all plays out doesn't really make much sense was there a mention of any Infinity give him the mindstone if if Thanos already had it why would he give it to Loki in a St like it it just kind of falls apart if you think about it too much cuz I don't think they knew that's where they were going to go with it yeah cuz yeah that doesn't really make sense no so poke stick at the end the opening sequence of Avengers they hand the stuff to Loki and now knowing that it's the mindstone that's in there I was like why

the hell would he give that to Loki that's true interesting so I think they just didn't know and then there are you know characters who kind of changed somewhat F the the the romance between um Black Widow and Hulk or banner and Romanov is more explicit in Age of Ultron than I imagined they literally kiss at one point and it's like very they're literally having a romance and and then he obviously leaves and goes to another planet spoilers but but it just never gets mentioned ever again like not mentioned ever they're just hanging around not talking about it and then Jenna was like well you wouldn't mention it if if he [ __ ] off to another planet and left you would you and I was like I guess not um the Marvel movies have you heard about this rumor regarding Bri

Len oh God so evidently she's in talks to not do Marvel but to do a Star Wars movie okay or television show where she plays Mara Jade okay really okay I thought that's that's that's more uh that's less bothersome than what I thought you going to say usually when two people talk about Brie lson these days it's some horrid little [ __ ] on bri lson thing and I just really don't know how to feel about her now because she's probably very nice it's just [ __ ] hate her I thought she was great in community I haven't seen her in community are you talking about Alison Bri no no no no no who was she in community she came in as our bed's

girlfriend in like season four or five oh she just there for yeah yeah I'm and she was great she was just this likeing Scott Pilgrim nerdy girl who came in she great SC pgri I like doing Scott Pilgrim too she seems like she's awkward in interviews and stuff like that but everyone keeps [ __ ] hating on her so I always every time I'm like oh news about real last and I'm like oh God but all right no I find that I don't know why they had it but I'm the reason why I'm not happy with this nothing to do with her is the fact that they're bringing her back yeah and it's going to be not your Mar Jade it's going to be some new confusing say but there's yeah been no Mara Jade I don't know what you're talking about Luke who's Mara Jade I'm looking at my

official Disney Star Wars character guide and she one of the Dozen cartoons we haven't watched maybe no no no but this is why like you got rid of it all and now you're bringing stuff back and no if you get rid of it all you're not allowed to go back to it Emperor's hand how many hands do the emperor got he's got three hands and one of them's a person I don't understand Luke what are you talking about she used to be his other like he Darth Vader was more for brute forson to show off she was more of the I'm going to assassinate this person in the background type yeah he had a hot chick that was like secret not the one show yeah well I was about to say well it was sort of a bit different cuz yeah like the emperor didn't really like females or alien races but then he was

back Luke will destroy you yeah the fans that want it will do fan art about it forever and the fans that don't want it will send you death threats if you do most probably [ __ ] man stop imagine deciding whether or not to do a Star Wars movie these days that' be so whether or not you want death threats yeah cuz it doesn't even read the scpt still be in in a second you could read the script and be like this looks great and it won't matter that's not the script they're filming yeah cuz who knows what's going to happen you could be like hate it like imagine sorry to bring this up again but imagine killing Marie Tran reading the script being like this is going to be so good ammed best yeah he's like I'm goingon to be so [ __ ] famous yeah well so has you either do really

well after it or do terrible there's there's only two options no there's a weird third option which is everyone loves you in Star Wars so no one hires you for any other movies The Mark Hamil curse yeah mhm it's like you Luke Skywalker we can't put you in this didn't happen to Har voice acting no I didn't haveen Harrison Ford he in he used to maybe it was luy us to work on a star spars and he have little secret compartments where they could hide their drugs [ __ ] Harrison Ford is great I feel like he would be cool to hang out with I'd like to have a beer with him yeah unless he didn't like you

in which case he would make it very clear like uh was that [ __ ] movie worked on with um oh with Josh har it yeah and he [ __ ] hated him and oh man that sounded like a nightmare yeah cuz that's the thing yeah he's the kind of person that you don't want Harrison forward to hate you no no like no if you if you don't want to work again that's a good way to make sure that happens is have Harrison Ford pissed off at you yeah yeah that's right cuz what's he what's Josh Aron in now I'm assuming Harrison Ford is in Indie 5 is that a given cuz I know they're leaking all this other car but uh no that that one's a definite given they they have still come out and said no one will ever play IND theana Jones apart from Harrison for I mean he

is he is nearly 80 y just as soon as he's gone though and five years after that when they do the reboot if in this movie you see him put a hat on another young boy we'll [ __ ] know yeah well he he they were really really trying to pass this torch to shy buff and understand not a good character yeah we took the hat off him at the end which was kind of like oh thank God yeah he's like you're not it I still missed the days where there was rumors going around that oh oh what um yeah where Chris Pratt was sort of going to play like a young Han Solo and a young Indie yeah Henry and a young he's not that young anymore though a young Widowmaker but yeah this is going back like a decade

yeah Chris is older than we are God that first Guardians movie is so Good by the way or the same age actually cuz I forget that I'm older than I remember being that's that's the other thing too sorry just rewatching all the Marvel movies you can really tell when it gets to Guardians of the Galaxy that that's when it hits the swing of this is what the Marvel movies are going to be like and then after that it's like oh okay yeah they that's that's that's when it kicked in and they were like like yes this is what we want to make these they really found their footing yeah James gun was like how about we do it this way and then all the ones after that were great oh I still like Thor the Dark World by the way I know no one else likes it no no no I love Thor the Dark

World I really like that movie I like hard sci-fi I like Cat Dennings in those movies I love Cat Dennings she's good in in the Thor movies I don't know that I've seen her in anything other than that and Two Broke Girls but she's quite good in those you know who doesn't like Thor the Dark World Christopher no I know and Idris Elber as well they both [ __ ] ha it yes yeah wonder why Idris Elber came back though Christopher Eon did not no but Christopher Eon does have a history of doing franchises and then just back in the [ __ ] out of it he [ __ ] hated Doctor Who as well apparently yeah yeah we have some doctor H news Doctor Who did I say that right Dr Dr Hughes we have some Dr Hughes um we have some Dr Hugh news

um in a way uh is there a new doctor or uh no no no um there's one less Doctor Who character uh and one less Torchwood character that you can uh interact with I'm trying to be koi um John Baran is cancelled what did John Baran do how can you cancel John Baran constantly showing people his dick oh sure constantly and and not like at a party or anything like just at work yeah constantly had his dick out just reading the second article in there he's been accused by this over 20 women that he was repeatedly doing this know he's a r homosexual he the G no no but here's the thing Matt he never denied this if you asked himman are you always getting your dick out he'd be

is he's Dutch Australian actor and impressionist yeah right oh he does a lot of impr he does a lot of Impressions on his YouTube channel he's do his most recent one is Clarence Boda from RoboCop so he's going for all the roles let's find out it's the what's his name the dad from uh that 70 show that guy Anthony ingruber is the dad from the 70s Show he's doing he's doing he's doing an impression of that that actor play that actor's character from RoboCop yeah I doesn't look like he's got much acting under belt it's a lot of uh voice acting and a lot of filming himself in his kitchen doing impressions of people here's ke for southernland let me see how see if this is any good do you think

being able to do an impression of somebody translates directly to acting in a film just getting character yeah yeah you're you're acting as them right yeah imag you show up like we've hired you to be in this film uh your impressions are great we want you to be in this film all right who do you want me to be in this film well you'll be the character yeah yeah but but who yeah but but as who you want to be playing Tom Cruz gu yeah exactly I don't understand Yeah the more I watch of this guy the more I'm glad that they never cast him uh young Jones I might watch some of these later turns out River Phoenix cor Jones on Disney I'll tell you what's not on Disney I doubt it the Spider-Man movies nope H so when you go to Disney

plus and you go to Marvel and you watch them in because I've been watching them in release order MH they're not in there and you know are you're not watching them chronologically you're not watching Captain America the First Avenger first you can't do that yeah they've got them in there chronologically as well so you can choose to watch them in that order or you no I'm watching in the release order just because you know that's how watch them the first time so but yeah we talked about Incredible Hulks not on there but neither are the Spider-Man's uh so I'm going to have to figure out I I think Spider-Man homecoming comes after Civil War which is the next movie we've got so yes have to figure out where to watch

that and then far from home is at the end of everything yeah you definitely have on one of streaming find somewhere it's always Italy there are characters that recur that I didn't realize recurred because they were not very memorable but for example you know that French arms dealer in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier MH you know what I mean he's in Captain America the Winter Soldier the movie is he Captain America a charm stealer yeah Captain America fights him in the opening sequence of the movie and I was like oh [ __ ] it's that guy that's why they didn't explain who he was they assumed I would know but I didn't cuz he's so forget there was a fair bit of that going on in that

show yeah there's a couple other characters that they were like okay they recognize her so I guess I'm supposed to recognize her too yeah there's quite a few things that I was like oh that comes back later and I forgot that that was a thing some they did some good stuff like that oh and I liked the little uh the little Nazi scientist made himself into a computer AI computer on Old like an old tape based computer system I forgot that was in that movie that was [ __ ] great maybe I want to sit down and watch them all they're good it's good it's a good experience I'm having fun even the not even not good ones are pretty good I've seen the first Iron Man but that's the only Iron Man I've seen what that is the good it I don't let's I don't know why I skipped skon man not as bad as I

remember and Iron Man 3 Iron Man 3 is not great but it's still it's got some great moments yeah Iron Man 3 is good if you just want to St and that kid are [ __ ] great together I'm cold I know you're cold you know how I know cuz we're connected and he just drives off so good I've seen that once well I might give it a go I'll binge watch it while I'm playing Mass Effect so you'll pick up going to really get full experience then yeah the show I'm watching while playing Mass Effect is eight out of 10 cats does countdown what are you talking about Bri show called eight out of 10 and there was a spinoff they did that

out so they had the cast of It Go did special spin-off week where they did a crossover with countdown so it's eight out of 10 cats does countdown and then it was so good they made a series out of it hang on where did the C where the cats come in yeah you've you've not explained anything you've not explained the interesting part and we get countdown we get eight out of 10 yeah so so basically there's no cats juy car hosts a show where they bring comedians on to play countdown I am no closer to understanding this in fact I feel like I'm less qualified now just after this type in eight out of 10 cat do countdown in YouTube you'll
